சின்ன வெங்காயம் முருங்கைக்காய் சாம்பார்| Village Style Drumstick Sambar|Drumstick Sambar Recipe

INGREDIENTS

Drumstick - 3nos

Tomato - 2nos

Small Onions/ Shallots - 200 grams

Oil - 3 tsp

Mustard - Half tsp

Dried red chili - 3nos

Green chili - 1no

Garlic - 1no

Turmeric - Half tsp

Salt - As required

Chilli powder - As required

Homemade masala powder - 1 1/2 tps

Tamarind extract - 1 cup

Toor dal - 1 Cup

Water - 3-4 glasses

Pinch hing / asafoetida - Half tsp

Curry leaves

Coriander

Steps :

1. Add oil to the pan, once hot add the mustard seeds and wait for it to pop, then add the chilly, garlic, curry leaves, coriander leaves.

2. Add the shallots, saute it well for a minute or a two.

3. Add the chopped tomatoes, saute it well.

4. Add the chopped drumstick to the pan, and stir in low flame for a minute, then add two glasses of water.

5. Add the turmeric, gravy chilly powder, red chilly powder, homemade masala powder (1.5 teaspoon), required salt and stir it well.

After a minute or two, add the tamirand extract to the pan.

6. Allow the drumstick to cook nicely, this will take 10 minutes in low to medium flame. once the drumstick is cooked add the dhal to the gravy. Mix it evenly, to spread in the gravy mixture.

7.Allow the mixture to boil in low flame, after two to three minutes add coriander leaves and. hing powder and turn off the stove.

Shallot drumstick sambhar recipe goes yummy with idli, dosa, mini idli, steamed rice ( along with pappad or a potato curry)
