It's showtime!

Finally! It is my hundredth post and in it, I am going to talk about the biggest star of the Underground. I present to you... Mettaton!

So uh... I don't know if Mettaton EX's face looks fine or not anymore. At first, I thought it looks terrble. But now I think it looks fine. I'm not sure if I got used to it or if it actually looks good. About design of his both forms, as you see I gave them stars elements. After all, he is a star. I didn't change much in his normal form. Only lights colours and knobs. He usually makes his lights look like a smile. About his EX form, as you see, the difference is much bigger. Actually, though I didn't know what I want him to look like in this form, I knew from the start that I want to give him a cape with fur.

So Mettaton still leads his show, MTT Resort and all of this. He's still the biggest star in the Underground. However, I can tell that he's actually one of more positive characters in this whole mess called "Undermourning". As you can see in his design (and probably I told ya that earlier), he's in the Smile Program. Why? Well, he's not greedy like Muffet and in general he did not do it from selfish reasons like she did. Well, when Smile Program started, his first thought actually was the fact it could make him even more likeable for people, but that's not the whole thing. After Asgore's death, he felt more important. He knew that his show cheered up people, and it didn't change after Asgore's death. Actually, a lot of monsters found this show as something that lets them detach from this sad and hopeless reality. Mettaton heard and read a lot of opinions like this. So when sisters came up with Smile Program, he thought this is a great opportunity to actually help people instead of just detaching them from the reality.

Smile Program is not perfect. Sofia was responsible for most of it, and she mostly focused on what's nice and cheering up at the moment instead of long term results. However, Mettaton does more than program's requirements. His show is like it's always been. But he tries to put some good messages into it. For example selfcare... [It's the part when you see an advertisement for MTT brand selfcare products XD]. He interacts more with his fans. Actually, similar to True Pacifist Route, Mettaton comes to the conclusion he should perform with others more. So yes, similar to said route in Undertale, he performs with Shyren and Napstablook.

And yep, he likes the way he changed his body. Actually he made this new design himself. I felt I should tell ya that because in Undertale he agreed to become corporeal because Alphys designed a body that satisfied him. It's just very important for Mettaton to be in a body he feels good in.

Talking about Alphys... similar to Undyne, Mettaton sometimes feels lack of someone but not that intense like Undyne does. However, he still does because they were friends for a long time.

So I think that's all you should know about Mettaton. And it's the last Undermourning drawing for now. I'll make post about a few characters (mostly shopkeepers) but I won't draw them. And I'm very happy that I can stop drawing Undermourning for a while. I mean, not permanently, but I almost drew nothing more (if we're talking about digital art) than Undermourning. I think you understand what I'm talking about.

God this panel kinda drives me crazy. From Batman & the Outsiders #17, Shiva asks Duke about his suit, whether it was his choice. And how does Duke respond? He... doesn't. He parrots what is clearly something Bruce said to him, but never clarifies whether it was 'his choice' at all. Because both him and Shiva know it wasn't. And he acknowledges that his suit, with all the Batty-ness (ears, symbol), was specifically designed to make him like Batman.

Then Shiva suggests dark red, which is what Duke wore in We Are Robin and has connotations to Robin as a whole. Duke's reaction - can we let it go? - can be read in many ways, but to me it suggests Shiva's words hit home. He does miss the Robin colours. Becoming the Signal wasn't his choice, but becoming Robin was.

(And throughout this run, Shiva says both Cass and Duke are being held back by Bruce. With Cass this is a clear allusion to being Orphan over Batgirl, so it's not farfetched to read this conversation as being about how Duke was denied Robin to become Signal).

Duke-as-Signal is a symbol of 'people like Batman', but Duke-as-Robin was a symbol of youth, of community, of diversity and of choice. He was a Robin formed without Batman. I know there's no going back, but having Bruce choose the name, the suit, and the time of day that Duke goes out makes the Signal such a fraught identity. I love the yellow, the suit, and the daytime aspect, but I just wish they were Duke's choices, not Bruce's.

And that's a wrap on this prologue! Thank you all SO MUCH for following along with Bringer of Darkness' progress so far, and enjoying it all up to this point!!

I know I say stuff like this a lot, but it means so much to me that you like it as much as you do, and I can't stress that enough. I've spent two years on this prologue, then reaching a point where I finally have it all done is... so surreal.

Therefore, from the very bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you to every single one of you. I'm so glad you're all enjoying it, much more than I can ever find the words to say.

That's it for now. I won't be putting this blog on hiatus, as I'll likely still be continuing to post stuff for it, but the comic itself is done for now... until I get started on that First Chapter, of course. But that's not for a while since I need to properly write it. :)

okay but look at that dance scene. first, look at the lyrics and how they're telling blitz and stolas's story from the past four episodes.

except... IS it the story of the past? what if this is foreshadowing the future??? i'm getting ahead of myself.

SO.... the night of the dance.

it's a full moon. their night. and the dance scene begins with stolas telling blitz he doesn't have to stay there with him - a callback to when he first tried to see if blitz would stay with him just for him. and the first time blitz broke his heart. but this time blitz stays with him. stays because he wants to.

we hear these lyrics, their story, as they reminisce about their past nights together. blitz draws a genuine laugh from stolas and they each look at each other's lips in turn before meeting one another's eyes. and then blitz hugs him.

stolas sadly looks up at the full moon. it's their night. he's got exactly what he thought he wanted. blitz is with him because he wants to be. but...is this truly what he wanted? and weighing what he now has against what he's lost... was it worth it?

i don't think he knows. which is kind of why i worry the lyrics tell two stories. the story they've already experienced, and a future where stolas is the one to leave this time and break blitz's heart.

I’m finally getting off my ass and making coherent oc content yay!!! So properly introducing my first twst oc

Altair Scarlett!

He’s twisted from Iago and is probably my most developed oc because I just keep making them and never bother to do anything.

A macaw beastman hailing from the wetter areas of the Sunset Savannah, Altair is an aspiring musician and a first year at Nrc who became friends with Cal and joined their group.

Outgoing, short fused and with no indoor voice, he’s the type of guy everyone has a distinct reaction to when he walks in. Often that reaction is exasperation. Despite his (relatively) easygoing nature, he doesn’t suffer fools and doesn’t hesitate to let people know, even if he doesn’t hold malice towards them, they’re still getting on the receiving end of some snark. He’s also quite a bit smarter than people tend to assume, being a good planner and surprisingly sneaky.

His signature spell is called Harpy Song, and it lets him perfectly copy any voice, stretching his range so he’s able to reach every note.

In case my handwriting is unreadable, the notes say:
