This is the month where I think we need to celebrate how far we have come as refugees. I think we also need to acknowledge how far we have left to go.
I know we face horrible situations but today we should at least keep that smile this this day. I raise my voice by wishing my fellow refugees a happy refugee day today (Thur,June,20,2024). Not only that but also wishing once again every queer a powerful pride month.
HAPPY REFUGEE DAY and PRIDE MONTH.

Empowering Choices: Kerala HC Upholds personal liberty in land mark ruling
Tumblr media
The High Court of Kerala Dismisses Criminal Writ Petition on the Grounds of Personal Liberty. Case: X v. Director General of Police Thiruvananthapuram & 5 others Writ Petition (Crl) 584/2024 Court: High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam Judges: Hon’ble Mr. Justice P Manoj J & Hon’ble Mr. Justice Raja VijayaRaghvan V J Summary: In a significant ruling, the High Court of Kerala dismissed the writ petition filed by the father of Ms. X, who sought the intervention of the court to produce his daughter, alleged to be detained by the 5th and 6th respondents. The petitioner contended that his daughter, a victim under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was being influenced by the respondents. However, the court observed that Ms. X is an adult, having turned 18, and is residing with the 6th respondent of her own free will. The judges cited the precedent set in Gian Devi v. Superintendent Nari Niketan Delhi, emphasizing the constitutional right of an adult woman to make her own choices about where and with whom she wishes to live. Key Points: The court underscored the importance of respecting the personal liberty and individual choice of adults. It recognized the right of Ms. X to make conscious decisions about her life. The ruling reinforces the principles of personal freedom and autonomy enshrined in the Constitution. Full Story: The Criminal Writ Petition filed by Ms. X's father aimed at directing police authorities to produce her, allegedly detained by respondents Shibila and Rejina. The father argued that his daughter was a victim of sexual assault by the 5th Respondent Shibila and had been placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee, Malappuram. Despite this, Ms. X left her hostel in February 2024 and chose to stay with respondent Rejina. The court ruled that 18 years old, Ms. X has the right to make her own decisions, including where and with whom she resides. The judgment emphasized that no one, including family members or the court, can override an adult's choice regarding her personal life. This ruling is a significant affirmation of individual rights, reiterating the judiciary's role in upholding personal freedom and dignity.

Help My Family Escape the Devastation in Gaza
🚨Urgent Appeal 🚨
I am Abdullah Al-Hajj, 25 years old. I graduated from high school with big dreams of earning a university degree, but life took a different turn. Due to the difficult circumstances we faced, I couldn’t pursue my academic aspirations. Instead, I joined my brother in the field of chemical manufacturing, and I quickly learned the craft. It became the primary source of income for our family. Through this work, I was able to get married and start building my own life.
But everything changed when the war broke out in Gaza. The relentless bombings destroyed not just our workplace, but also every hope and dream we had built. The factory that had provided for our family was reduced to rubble. I found myself struggling to provide for even the most basic necessities—food, water, and medical care for my pregnant wife, who is expecting our first child.
As the war intensified and the destruction spread to our neighborhood, we were forced to flee to a safer area. We found shelter in a makeshift tent, which barely protected us from the scorching summer heat or the bitter winter cold. Life in the tent has been harsh, and survival has become a daily struggle.

My younger brother, Bilal Al-Hajj, always had big dreams. From a young age, he aspired to become a professional football player. Recently, Bilal graduated from high school and enrolled in university, determined to balance his education with his passion for football. His dream was to play for one of the major football clubs, a goal he had worked tirelessly toward for years.
But the war shattered Bilal’s dreams as well. The harsh realities of our situation—the struggle for food, water, and basic medical care—have made it impossible for him to chase his passion. The war has not only destroyed homes and buildings but also ambitions, hopes, and the future we once envisioned.

🎯Campaign Goal:
Your donations can make a life-changing difference for my family. We need to evacuate my family of six from Gaza, and the cost of permits and coordination to leave is about $5,000 per person. Once we reach Egypt, your support will help secure shelter and cover initial living expenses as we adjust to a new life. The ongoing siege in Gaza has made survival increasingly difficult, with skyrocketing prices and severe shortages of food and water. Your generous contributions will help us meet immediate needs and begin rebuilding our lives. Please consider donating through the link below—your help can offer us a chance for safety, stability, and hope.
Donation Link: https://gofund.me/40968e1f
Your kindness can give my family a chance to escape the devastation, protect the next generation, and reignite hope for a peaceful and dignified life.
Thank you for standing with us in these difficult times.
Warm regards, Abdullah Al-Hajj

Aquí Me Quedo (I'll stay here)
Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I could write a second post this week, as I arrived Thursday late back home from the trip to Southern Germany, and I was almost flat after a long drive with many car crashes and some pile-ups (thank goodness we were just spectators in the traffic jam). Yet, I know a specific resistance within me calls for expressing my feelings for freedom and justice. Therefore, I…

LITERACY QUOTE OF THE DAY
Thursday, February 8, 2024
“In the middle of great abundance, and without having studied the social question, I believed that everybody had the right to be clean and clothed, to wear shoes, and I didn’t understand why it wasn’t so. I thought everyone knew how to read and write and I was astonished when I saw the opposite.” – Luisa Capetillo

Cigarette Should not Be Banned
Tumblr media
Even though smoking gives a little dangerous, cigarette should not be banned. Beside the disadvantages there are lot of advantages can take from smoking. There are arguments against a ban on smoking.
Some people argue that a smoking ban would break on the rights of adults to choose whether or not to smoke. They argue that adults should be free to make their own choices about their health, even if those choices are unhealthy.
A smoking ban would be difficult to enforce. It would be difficult to police all public places to ensure that people are not smoking. Additionally, a smoking ban would likely lead to an increase in black market cigarette sales.
A smoking ban could have negative social and economic consequences. Smoking is a major source of tax revenue for many governments. A smoking ban would likely lead to a decrease in tax revenue, which could lead to cuts in government services. Additionally, a smoking ban could lead to job losses in the tobacco industry.
Lastly, we will lose various scholarships from cigarette companies. Many cigarette’ company give a scholarship to people from different requirements and purpose. One of the biggest cigarette companies has provided scholarship since 1963 and already gave around 5000 scholarships in 2023 only.
Cigarette should not be banned because of those reasons. Still there are lot of advantages from cigarette.

We Need Your Support Now More Than Ever🏳️‍🌈🙏
Hello friends.
We are LGBTIQ refugees from East Africa, and we are facing unimaginable challenges in the refugee camps where we have been displaced. Every day, we struggle to survive in hostile environments filled with homophobia and persecution. Our lives are constantly at risk, and we need your help to make it through these difficult times.
Despite the challenges, we have some good news to share! The first group of LGBTIQ refugees from our community is finally heading to Canada. This is a huge milestone for us, and it wouldn't have been possible without your incredible support. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by us, and we ask that you continue to support us in whatever way you can.
But we still have a long way to go. Many of us remain in these camps, living in fear and uncertainty. We are asking, kindly, for your donations to our fundraiser. Every penny counts—whether it’s for food, medication, or shelter, your contribution helps us survive another day.
Even though it's difficult to keep asking, we can’t stop. Our lives and futures depend on your generosity. Please, if you can, donate to our cause. Together, we can create a safer future for our community.
Thank you for your continued support, and let’s keep moving forward.
Other ways to Donate.⬇️

(Quds) UN Secretary-General António Guterres warns that the conditions in Gaza may amount to "the most serious international crimes. Malnutrition is widespread, famine is imminent, and the healthcare system has collapsed."
"Gaza has the highest number of children with amputations in the world relative to its population. The blockade is not a logistical issue but a crisis of political will and respect for the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law."

In the heart of war-torn Gaza, where devastation and loss have become daily realities, lies the poignant story of Amjad Danaf and his family. Amid relentless airstrikes,And it wasn’t just my home that was destroyed. Years of effort and dedication were wasted in moments, and here I am standing in the ruins of my home, as I stand in the ruins of my life, trying to collect the remains of my dreams and memories. This house was a source of safety for me and my family, but the war left us nothing, and we face an ambiguous and difficult future.
Tumblr media
Now, after all this destruction, my family and I live as displaced people, homeless and unemployed, with no clear future for us. Every day is a struggle to find food for my family, who have been deprived of every chance at a normal life by this war. Once upon a time, we lived in Gaza, in northern Gaza, where we had a home, a life,But now, after being displaced more than nine times, we find ourselves in the refugee camps in Deir al-Balah, and the war has stripped us of everything: our homeland, our security, and our future. Our daily lives have become a constant search for basic necessities, a far cry from the life we knew before.
Tumblr media
The dreams I had for my family now seem like distant memories, overshadowed by the relentless challenges of survival. Each day brings new doubts, as we navigate this harsh new reality, clinging to the hope that one day we may be able to rebuild what we have lost.We urgently call on everyone who stands in solidarity with us, and every supporter, to help save what remains of our lives. Your help, even in small ways, can make a big difference in helping us rebuild and restore our broken world. Rebuilding seems like an insurmountable task, but with your help, we can begin to piece together what we have lost. Your contributions, no matter how small, can provide the foundation we need to start over, and provide hope and a chance for a better future for our family. Your solidarity means the world to us as we face these difficult times.
Thank you for your compassion, your time, and your commitment to freedom and justice.

"We are calling for court support on September 19 at 8:30am, in Fort Worth, Texas, in order to support drag defenders fighting a civil suit from fascist group New Columbia Movement. The courthouse is located at 100 N. Calhoun Street, Fort Worth, TX, and the hearing will be in the 4th floor courtroom for the 48th District Court
Once the courtroom fills up, we are also inviting people to stand outside the courthouse with signs and banners showing their support.
More details to come soon, but the tl;dr is that everyone should cover identifying markings as a standard anti-doxxing precaution, and should remember that the goal of this particular action is not disruption, we are here to stand in solidarity with drag defenders facing legal persecution and show them they're not alone"
