It was Act's first day at the local school and xe was feeling nervous. It wasn't everyday a Centaur attended a Human school after all.
"How are you today, Act?" The teacher, Mrs. Brown asked as she gently guided the foal towards the classroom.
Act shrugged, xyr throat felt thick and the words clogged in xyr throat.
Xyr mom had told xem it was rude not to respond to Humans and that this would make them angry, but Mrs. Brown simply moved on as if there was no trouble.
___________________________________________________
After xe had been introduced to the class xe almost immediately began to zone out, barely hearing mathematic lesson. Xe was simply too nervous to concentrate, both hearts beating faster than they should and xyr arms felt heavy with the buzzing of bees.
"Hey!" Poke.
Act startled at the sharp sting of graphite on xyr arm, turning harshly to view xyr antagonist.
A small waif of a human sat to the left and behind xem, her eyes glinting cheerfully.
Act's ears pinned back in fear, xe really hoped this wasn't another bully. The bigger foals in the herd liked to push xem around and xe would like to avoid dealing with such nonsense in the human school.
The small girl giggled at seeing that she'd startled the foal.
"What's your name?" She repeated, poking the graphite against the foal's arm again since she now had xyr full attention.
Xe coughed and tried to force words out, when that failed xe turned to grab a paper. Xe wrote xyr name in big blocky letters and showed her.
Act Ther.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Kia." the girl smiled and handed him a paper. "Mrs. Brown wanted me to hand you the assignment, you were zoning out for a while there."
Act bowed xyr head in embarrassment and accepted the paper.
"Th-ank you." Xe croaked, feeling oddly better now that she had spoken to xem.
_____________________________________________________
As the day progressed xe became more and more comfortable with Kia and soon the bell for dismissal to the playground rang. The students would have 15 minutes to play before their parents arrived to walk them home, in the case of the creature students, or for the bus to collect them.
Act's hooves had a hard time navigating the loose and itchy gravel/sand filling the playground. But Kia convinced xem to try the slide, laughing uproariously when xe ended up faceplanting in a sandy spot as xe jolted off the slide.
Act smiled, pleased xe had made her laugh.
Xe had never had friends before, but Kia seemed like she might stick around and xe was grateful for the opportunity to make a connection.
"Act! Are you coming?" Xyr mom called from the gate, Act nervously danced back from Kia and toward the gate. Unsure if xe should go or say goodbye first.
Thankfully, Kia noticed xyr hesitation and gave xem a tight hug.
"See you tomorrow." She cheered as she pushed a red book into xyr arms and took off running to the bus.
Xe blinked, nearly dropping the book.
Xe smiled when xe opened the book to the first page.
Written inside were the words:
To Act, my new friend. I noticed you had to use some of your scratch paper to write to me this morning. I had this spare notebook so.... use it as you wish.
Love, your new friend, Kia.
"Act!"
Xe quickly galloped to xyr mom's side, promising xemself that xe would do xyr best to do well in school.
Xe really wanted to stay here and be able to see xyr new friend every day.

Fun Sized
Dark!Fairy!Gojo Satoru x reader
Word Count: 2k
Synopsis: You save a tiny fairy. Gojo Satoru decides that you and him belong together, regardless of how little he is and how little you think of him.
(Warnings: Yandere, not many warnings in this one ngl)
The fae are a dangerous bunch. You've heard more than enough stories to be spooked. Sirens will sing beautiful songs before dragging you into the depths. Dragons will burn you to a crisp before a second's thought. Nagas would make sure you were alive until the very end as they feast on your organs. Centaurs would use their powerful legs to stomp yours to mere twigs. Driders would suck your blood until there's nothing left but a husk of your body.
You've never heard anything about fairies. They didn't live in your region. Their lands were high in the mountains, where humans rarely traveled. Also, they were so tiny, according to the books. The biggest seemed to be barely the size of your hand. They were harmless, you concluded. Harmless to humans. Harmless to you.
He had been harmless. At first, you thought it was a cluster of leaves in the stream, but as the current drew it closer, you noticed tiny arms and a tiny face. He was unconscious; you didn't even know if the poor thing was alive.
The Fae are a dangerous bunch, but saving one tiny fairy couldn't hurt, right?
Your guest quickly proved to be a bigger hassle than you initially thought.
When you brought him to your cottage, he laid in a basket of warm linen, asleep for hours near the warm fireplace. The blueberry pie was still hot when you turned around and caught him staring at you.
It was silent for a while, and then you said:
"Do you like sweets?"
That's how your tentative friendship with the other kind started. Gojo Satoru (you later learned his name) was a boisterous thing. He did in fact like sweets, which helped bribe his friendship. You're surprised that he ate so much despite his stature. Did all faires have black holes for stomachs?
He healed up rather quickly. At first, you were afraid that his wings had crumbled due to the prolonged exposure to water. But after stuffing himself full of the blueberry syrup, he smiled widely before flitting out your window.
You thought that would be the end of it, but then he just came coming back.
Apparently, your baking skills left an impact on the small creature. He didn't visit often, but when he did, you would always make sure you had something. Whether it be cookies, brownies, or that blueberry pie he was so fond of. Anything was good enough for Gojo's taste palette.
"In the fae lands," Gojo said when you prodded, "sweets are too sweet. Yours is just enough." You weren't too sure what he meant by that, but you took it as a compliment. You were sure the fae wasn't something who'd give praises so easily.
It's not like you were upset at providing food for your tiny friend. Quite the contrary. You loved it when Gojo visited. You found him fascinating, the way he could fly miles and miles above your head. How tiny he was. The amount of times you had to hold yourself back from squishing him between your fingers because of how cute he was scared you.
And you hoped you were fascinating enough to entertain Gojo. You had to be; you don't know why else he'd keep coming back. Even after gobbling down your cooking, he'd lounge around your home, entertaining you with his stories. You learned of the other magical creatures he was in contact with, the students he taught, and how fond he was of them. You don't know why he was so open about sharing his personal life with you, in the stories fae hated humanity, but you would never complain.
It doesn't click as to why Gojo's so invested in you until he comes out and says it himself.
"Instead of me coming back and forth like this, why don't you just come live with me?" He says, "I would cut down my flying time by a lot."
You stare at him in amusement, sure he's joking. "I'm not sure how I'd fit in your house." You tease. "I'd probably crush all your furniture."
"I can make my house bigger." He announces. "Don't worry 'bout it, just say yes."
You stare at him, slowly realizing that he isn't as amused. He's still smiling, but there's no joke.
"No," you finally say, "I'm not doing that."
He cocks his head surprised as though he's never had someone reject him before.
"What?" He asks, "Why not?"
"Well." You clear your throat. "For one, I'm human, and you're a fairie. I don't think Fae would appreciate a human wandering around in their lands."
"Who cares about all that?" Gojo waves his hands around. "You'll be with me, anyways. It'd be fine."
"I don't get why you're so fixated on the human realm." His mouth turns into a sneer. "It's all so boring. Nothing ever happens. And our magic is much more advanced than yours." It's true. You can't disagree with that. Satoru didn't wear clothes made out of leaves or vines, unlike the common fairy stereotype. His clothing looked much more advanced compared to your loose cotton dresses. A black shirt with intricate buttons and long sleeves. Along with black trousers. You wonder what material could make his suit so shiny.
You laugh at his disgust. At that time, you saw Gojo as a tiny child clutching their mother's skirts, a cute puppy. You hadn't yet taken Gojo Satoru as the threat he was.
"It's because I am human." You say, not offended by his remarks. "So I like being near other humans."
He groans as though your logic makes no sense. "Yuji and the others ask about you all the time, though. They've been dying to meet you."
"You talk to your students about the giant that cooks for you? I'm flattered."
"You're dodging," he warns. You roll your eyes.
"Satoru, I'm not coming to live with you. It'd be too much of a hassle." You finally say. "Besides, you're not my type."
"I'm everyone's type." He argues.
"Not mine." You smile, and then you make your first blunder.
"I like my men a little taller."
He stiffens, and you know you said the wrong thing. Your smile fades as does the cheery energy in your cottage. He says nothing, but he's zipping out your window before you can apologize.
He doesn't return for the longest time. You count the weeks. Guilt weighs on your shoulders, heavy and burdensome. Every day you bake something even tastier than the day before. Not even that is enough to coax him back.
You think you've lost him forever, when he returns on one sweltering summer evening.
"Hi." You blink. He's watching you, sitting idly on the window, kicking his tiny feet.
"Hi." He smiles.
You're happy enough to grab him with one fist and hugging him to your chest, but as always, you stop yourself. Instead, a shy smile rests on your face.
"I'm sorry," you say, "I really am...will you accept an apology pie?"
He grins wider, and you relax.
He eats, and you're grateful. Something you once cherished in your life has finally come back to you. You might not return Gojo's feelings, but you still care for him. You'd rather die than ever hurt him again.
"No, you're right." Gojo surprisingly concedes when you apologize for the third time. "We're too different. It'd never work out. Not as the way you are, right now."
You nod, grateful he's so understanding. "Exactly."
He's finishing up when he announces he brought you a gift.
"I've been working on it for the past few weeks," he cheerily says. "It took a while, but it's finally safe for human consumption."
He takes out a tiny glass bottle filled with something swirling and blue. When he asks you to bring a glass of water, you acquiesce. To your astonishment, when the elixer is poured, the entire water becomes a swirling mass of a color comparable to none other than galaxies. You're so mesmerized by the color, it's enough to stump your voice.
"For you!" He declares. "You've always been cooking for me; thought I might return the favor, just this once."
"What is it?" You ask, amazed by the color. You admire the glance, unaware of the glint in Gojo's eye.
"It's kinda like the wine you have in the mortal realms, but a little less poignant." He gives when you glance at him. "Go on, tell me what you think?"
You're too trusting, and so you make your second blunder.
Once you start, you can't seem to stop. The taste is otherworldly, addicting. You drink and drink, not wasting a single drop. You're breathing heavily once the cup detaches from your lips.
"Amazing." You say before looking at him. His eyes are too wide, but you're too distracted by the taste still on your tongue. "Seriously, what was that? Can I make it here?"
He scratches the back of his head. "Not really, the ingredients are pretty hard to find." He shrugs. "Besides, it's supposed to be a one-time use."
Your eyebrows twist, and then the world sinks.
You're falling. You think you are. You don't really know. Everything feels like it's stretching. The walls of your tiny little cottage get higher and higher and higher. The floor gets more and more warped. You're sinking, sinking through the air. When you scream, nothing comes out. You feel like you're choking because you can't breathe, and then your vision grows black.
The next time you open your eyes. It's still dark, and to your horror, you realize you're buried underneath something.
You panic, clawing and tearing your way out. The material gives away easily. It's fabric. Cotton. But there was so much, an undying ocean of fabric. You lift yourself up from the pile and that's when you realize you're completely naked.
The mountain of cotton you just climbed to the top of was your old dress.
Everything was gigantic—the table, the chairs. The windows seemed endless. The ceiling looked miles above you, and you know what happened, but your brain can't formulate it because it can't be—it just can't be.
There's a flutter of wings. You always thought he was so quiet before. Now, he's all you can hear. Immediately, you wrap your body with the cloth. It's hard to keep still; your body is buzzing with nerves and you still can't understand. You have to force yourself to look at him.
You don't know why you expected shock, guilt, something other than the pure manic glee on his face. Satoru towers above you, head tilted. He bends down, cupping your trembling face in his hand because he's big enough to do that now.
"Just when I thought you couldn't get any more adorable." He coos.
You can see him now. His skin isn't pale, it's borderline translucent. His canines are sharp and pointy. And his eyes. Oh God you've never seen eyes so terrifying before—an endless mass of blue, threatening to swallow you whole.
He wasn't a cute little fairy. He was anything but that.
"Gojo..." You start, heart squeezing. "What did you do.."
You know. He knows. That's why he ignores your question entirely.
"I'm surprised it worked." He says, mainly talking to himself. "Shoko said it might be a dud, and she was so sure of it, that I mostly believed her."
"But now look at you!" He roughly pinches your cheek. "You're the perfect size now."
"Stop." You blubber, pushing his hand off of you. "Don't touch me. Change me back. Change me back."
He frowns. "Why would I do that? You being human-sized was always such a hassle. Lumbering around. Way too loud. Don't get me wrong, I adore you either way." He proclaims like it's something benevolent. "But this has its charm."
He leans forward, and you scuddle backward in fear. His grin widens.
"So, am I tall enough for you, now?"

(sorry, this got way long, and maybe a little sappy, but i didn't want to spam with multiple asks)
so i just finished reading the most recent chapter of the cultist reincarnation au, and i love it so so much.
my personal fave part is bills little rivalry with the mini bill plush. bill waited for so long to see his husband again, and this little plush is getting all of the affection bill wants, i love it. i hope dipper keeps it around after getting all his memories back, because it is a wonderful way to tease bill. just 'fine, i'll just go hug and kiss my new, better husband!' said as dipper walks off with mini bill just to annoy bill.
after reading that chapter i started rereading the entire familiar au (or like 95% of everything that was written for it including snippits, pov changes, and multipart stories, thanks to weirdeggi's masterpost) and its so so fun and interesting seeing bill go from a demonic jackass who barely tolerates his human, to seeing him put so much time, care, and patience into making sure the cultist reincarnation of dipper feels comfortable and relaxed around him. while seeing dipper go from timid and ignorant in the beginning to confident and knowledgeable with the ability to handle all of bills tricks easily.
it's just all so good and you write the characters so so well, i love them so much. i love seeing how much they've grown and drove each other insane/sane. the world building is so well done, especially with how the magic works and affects things. i've read these stories so many times over the years and as they come out, and each new one is always a delight. no pressure on you to rush of course, please take your time, but know that any new fic or chapter you post has at least one person eager to read and enjoy it.
(the rest of this is just going to be fun questions that popped up while rereading, no pressure on answering them, i just thought of them while reading and thought they'd be fun to ask and share)
I am curious about how bill views or thinks about his 'sickness' after the events of confessing it, and if that's different from several reincarnations later. cause i know in the bill v bill fic the other bill still calls it a sickness, and while i know our bill is happy as hell, i do wonder if he still thinks its a sickness or a curse, even if its the best thing to ever happen to him.
i'd also be interested to know if dipper ever makes friends with any demons, cause like i know in confessing it he meets pyronica and she reminds him of mabel, and he kinda got along with the spider centaur demon, but it would be neat to know if he ever makes actual friends with any demons, and if those friendships 1) make bill jealous 2) last over several reincarnations
speaking of the reincarnation, i'm curious when in their relationship that those two put that plan into action. like if it was still early into their relationship or if it was as dipper got older and his days got more numbered. i know bill thinks of it kind of early on while they're together, but that doesn't mean it's put into action right away.
it would be neat to see how all bills henchmen eventually see the whole bond too. i know in confessing it they see bill acting all weird with dipper, and how much his human affects bills mood, so im sure they know its better to have him around even if for a little while. but its fun to think that later down the line when the reincarnations pop up its viewed more as 'vacation time' when the henchmen don't have to take over reality and can relax while bills off smooching his mortal.
Thanks so much; I'm really glad you've enjoyed the fic! If it's been half as fun to read as it's been to write I'll have accomplished a ton.
Okay, onto the questions:
1: Bill likely still considers it a sort of sickness/curse, but like. Not a bad one, necessarily. While his relationship is way weird for a demon, that's actually great! He's the master of weirdness! If it weirds out other beings or confuses the hell out of them, that's proof that he's the best in the biz, baby. And he's very, very happy.
2: Dipper probably does make some demon friends/acquaintances. It's only natural after multiple lifetimes running in the same circles with eternal beings. Given a friendship in one lifetime, it's likely the demons' assumption that they'll just pick back up where they left off! Neat new body, how's it suiting you? (The familiarity weirds out Dipper incarnations until they get their memories back.)
I don't think Bill's jealous of them, though. Hanging out with buddies doesn't register as 'competition' for Dipper's affections, in the same way that Dipper's not jealous of the henchmaniacs.
3: I haven't decided exactly when they settle on the reincarnation thing, but likely it's after a near-death experience. Maybe even post-whump!
4: Speaking of those henchmen! They're eventually gonna get used to Bill being hitched. Not like they have a choice in the matter; Dipper's not going anywhere.
The new status quo is pretty weird, but they knew what they were getting into in regards to 'weird' - and frankly, Bill's in a vastly better mood whenever his husband's home. Something that puts the Boss in a cheerful Fun Times Interdimensional Crimes Party mood? When he gets pissy there's a human who deals with it, rather than Bill lashing out and picking on whoever's closest? Absolutely! They're all for it! Once those Big Upsides become apparent, they're gonna be pleased to see Dipper hanging around.
#answers#Cult Dipper with his memories back absolutely 100% will storm off when miffed to go kiss and cuddle his 'better husband' (Mini-Bill)#Bill then fumes and sulks at this horrible injustice#This was long in my response but hey! Sometimes you gotta write a lot#So glad that you're enjoying my work#I gotta write more now#Onward to the document#Unless I get sidetracked by Stardew again

So can thrones only have either unbodyed or headless children or can they birth thrones as well? Also do the two involved in making a throne stay at all sep3rate or are their mines melded into one? And what kind of relationship do they have before becoming a throne? So much cool lore here it's amazing
The two components of Thrones are never born conjoined if that's what you mean. Most of the children Thrones bear are unbodied, so those big weird centaur creatures are giving birth to baisically normal looking human babies with a random chance of it being something incredibly weird.
How it usually goes down is a Throne has a Headless Child, and advertises this to neighboring Houses. This leads to competition between these houses to present their own, Unbodied Children as potential throning partners. It's important that the two halves of a throne be a similar age, which baisically leads to the Headless being sent on endless play dates until they seem to develop any noticeable friendships. The Headless's house does need to fully approve of their choice, though. In this way, Headless aren't completely unable to choose who they're throned with, it's just that they don't have a say wether it happens or not.

Leo and Vicky! I had this planned for awhile, but Vicky is a half centaur (instead of having 4 pony legs, she only has 2 like a normal person) due to her father getting with a human. Vicky lives outside of Chole’s kingdom of Greed, so she has to wear a cloak in order to not get captured and sold off. The only person that knows her secret is Leo, who swore to protect her. She was weary of him at first but is slowing warming up to him.
(Also sorry for no Halloween post, take friendship instead)

Weighty, bright red bricks slowly filled the bags strapped to his flank, balanced carefully to prevent straining himself on one side. It wasn't always beneficial to be a centaur sort of hybrid, but the ability to carry more- both in size and in weight- was deeply appreciated, especially when he needed to carry a person.
Satisfied with his luggage, he made his way through the community house, mindful of odds and ends that George had left lying around in an attempt to do… something??? He couldn't be sure. There were vines strung up around the entrance, poorly concealing a tripwire that had no discernible purpose. There had been a prank war going on the past few days, but Sam had opted out of this one so he could spend time building a base, and now he was out of the loop.
From another room, a voice called out. "Hey Sam, could you come help me with something?"
His tail wiggled. Crossing over into the bathroom, he was met with the sight of Dream's narrowed eyes squinting at his reflection, or more likely, the hairstyle he was attempting.
"Could you get this?" Dream vaguely gestured with his elbow to the hair tie in his mouth. Sam tried to avoid his fingers touching Dream's lips, tried not to think about them at all, but there was a bit of syrup left at the corner of his mouth from breakfast- it only made sense to help while Dreams hands were occupied-
"Oh! Thanks Sam, you didn't need to do that." Dream chuckled. There was a pretty pink flush to his cheeks now, and Sam felt his own cheeks begin to match as he handed over the tie.
"Just happy to help." He mumbled. He stared at the way Dream's hands moved as they tied back his hair, then he quickly realized what he was doing and looked away.
After a few moments, Dream sighed. "Okay, that's not perfect, but it's done."
Sam peeked back: a messy braid had taken its place over Dream's shoulder. He'd seen Dream braid before- had the friendship bracelet to prove it- but never with his own hair. It was always tied back in a secure knot, had been as long as Sam had known him.
It was pretty.
He wasn't sure that was appropriate to say, though. "You look nice."
Dream scowled. "It could be better. The way they had it in Sapnap's show had it go all the way up."
"If it's anime, it might not be able to be replicated in reality." Sam offered, but Dream shook his head.
"This one was in live-action. I don't know what you'd call it. But this one guy, he had a hairstyle with a braid like this, but better, and I wanted to try it." Dream explained. He blew a strand away from his face and leaned against the sink, frustration ever so familiar.
Dream always liked to do things as close to perfect as humanely possible. He'd get invested, trying every possible technique until he refined and streamlined it in a way that felt natural to him alone. Sam admired that about him. It was passion, but not always like the passion of thunder and lightning. It felt like- puzzle solving, that rush that you got when you were one move away from completing the game. The energy was enthralling to witness, and Sam would gladly watch it happen, if only it didn't come with the spirals and frustration of the bad days, when nothing went right for Dream at all.
Sam didn't know how to help with those. He wish he did. If he ever figured out how to make a bad day like that become good, things would be perfect.
"I'm sure everyone who looks at it will think its well done." Sam offered. He knew it wasn't going to fix the itch in Dream's brain- even if everyone in the world thought it looked right, Dream knew differently, and that was the problem- but his friend still quirked his lips.
"Oh yeah, you think they'll tell me I look all pretty?" Dream teased. "I'll catch all the attention today, I'm sure."
"You will." Sam insisted, eager to push away his friends perfectionism to something softer, kinder. "Everyone already thinks you look handsome. And pushing your hair back shows off your face, so they'll be able to see you smile. It's your best feature."
For a second, Dream looked entirely taken aback. Then his eyes crinkled with warmth, and he wheezed, that beautiful smile full on display.
"My best feature?" He giggled. "I didn't know I had a best feature, Sam."
Sam felt his face burn hot. "You have a lot of good features, but- your smile is like, it's your trademark, yeah? So it's your best one."
"That sounds right, of course of course." Dream stifled his giggles and reached out to pull Sam into a hug. Instantly, Sam melted, trying not to purr at the way his dear friend buried his face into his shoulder.
"I appreciate you." Dream said warmly, breath causing Sam's ears to twitch, and for his heart to flutter.
"I… you too?" Sam tried, and Dream snorted a laugh again. He pulled back with dancing eyes.
"I'm glad."
Suddenly, loud, pointed stomping echoed around the house.
"Hey George, your stupid trap didn't work!" Sapnap's voice shouted. The stomping, Sam realized, was accompanied by the crunch of vines beneath leather boots. "Maybe next time don't try leaving these bright, obvious vines in such a conspicuous place."
"I didn't know you knew such a big word, Sapnap." Dream called with glee. Sam snickered loudly, enough for Sapnap to hear.
"Dream, you said you wouldn't join his side this time." He whined. "I thought we had something speci- ACK"
There was a crash along with a loud THUMP. Sam practically jumped to the ceiling, nearly knocking over Dream, who looked equally alarmed.
"Sapnap?!"
They both darted out of the room into the main entrance. Where there should have been solid flooring, there was now a large hole.
"What the hell?" Sam gaped. Dream rushed past him, kneeling over the side.
"Sap! Are you okay?"
Sam went to peer in himself. The sight was thankfully not gruesome; Sapnap had landed face-first into what looked like a large pile of oak leaves. The remains of the flooring were scattered around him, mostly undamaged. Sapnap was also mostly undamaged, that was very important and good to know.
The man groaned, rolling over until they could see his face. He blew a leaf out of his hair- and his eyes- and squinted up at them. "Did you do something with your hair?"
"Sapnap."

This is so long sorry ❤

FNAF: Michael's My Little Pony Adventure Prologue
I got my first chapter(or Prologue) of my another fanfic crossover on my A03 and on Fanfiction.net. Just a note everyone that this fanfic is not canon to Afton's Playtime, it's a completely different universe.
My fanfic is mostly based from G1 My Little Pony Rescue at Midnight Castle mixed with My Little Pony Movie and My Little Pony and Friends. I've added some of Friendship is Magic characters like Shining Armor, Starswirl the Bearded, etc.
By the way, remember the last poll I made? Since the name, Tarot won, I changed Gypsy's name into Tarot and she's in my fanfic so thanks everyone. I'm also going to use Scorpan's human name for my fanfic as well. :3
This fanfic is about Michael Afton has to save Dream Valley(where G1 ponies lived) and his kidnapped siblings(Elizabeth and Evan) that were captured by an evil centaur, Tirac. He already conquered Dream Valley and wants to conquer other worlds such as Earth. Michael and the ponies have to defeat Tirac by using the Rainbow of Light, which it was shattered into seven shards and was given to his Seven Overlords. Will Michael saved his siblings and Dream Valley at the same time before his father founds out? :3

Camerupt Maxie and Sharpedo Archie headcanons?
cw: pokehybrid au, general romance hcs,
characters: Maxie, Archie
☀️Camerupt Maxie🌋
🪨 Camerupt hybrids were not overly common… Well, the ones who decided to live among human society were exceedingly rare. Maxie supposed it made sense, as the preferred lands for his species were volcanic craters. He still would have preferred that, as he felt cold, no matter how hot humans complained that the temperature was. His body was quite like a “centaur,” he supposed. A human-like torso rose out of a body like a Camerupt's own. Though, all of it was his body, of course. Lazy, furred ears were on the sides of his head instead of human ones. It was fairly obvious to any casual observer what he was, and there was nothing in him that wished to hide it.
🪨 Maxie will admit that he had the temper of a Camerupt at times, but he purposefully manages to keep himself cool and collected. There was no need to explode either literally or metaphorically over so many different things, even if he desperately wanted to. Team Magma also provided a herd sense to comfort his urge to be around others, too. Though, he does make more frequent trips towards Mt. Chimney and the Fiery Path to recollect himself in a comforting environment. Sometimes, he even dared to take a nap there among the wild Numel. Their sleepy faces had an unexpected effect on him.
🪨 Though, of course, one of these naps would be interrupted by a curious person approaching him. The Numels around scrambled off and left him as the sole person for your intrigue to be on. His cheeks grew warm, and he fought his immediate response to explode. You just gasped at him curiously and asked if the heat in there was more bearable to him since he was a hybrid. Magma Leader Maxie's upset was suppressed as you softly pet the fur on the side of his body.
🪨 Maxie soon almost had a new recruit out of you when he mentioned his interest in making more land for people to live on. You seemed to follow along with ease. It was clear that his fire-ground typing certainly kept a dislike of water in his heart, almost reasonably so. It was not long until you and him actually just built a normal friendship out of your interactions rather than a normal recruiting process for his team. In fact, he opted against asking you to since he felt that it was a burden that he could not place on you.
🪨 Unconsciously, he found himself often wanting to spend more time with you. While his work may have kept him busy, Maxie simply needed to fit in time with you into his schedule, for her felt even more irritable than usual. This time was usually spent around Mt. Chimney, with discussions about geology often coming up from him or you asking him something about him. Every so often, he would even dare a nap with you. This activity typically felt the best to him, yet he wasn't sure why. His feelings were completely obvious at this point to you, but not to himself somehow.
🪨 Eventually, Maxie nearly roared when Tabitha of all people got too close to you during one of your meetups when he had come to get him. It was then that he realised exactly how he felt and embarrassingly confessed to you after dismissing his admin normally. To his admitted surprise, you happily agree, and he feels light as air (despite his weight being near 220 kilos). It then clicks entirely in his head that he had been treating you like a mate instinctually and becomes flustered again. Well, at least you already knew what you were in for.
🪨 Most of his urges are dealt with carefully. He does not want to keep making a complete fool of himself by roaring at any person he deems too close to you, nor does he want to have his decision-making influenced by you. Of course, this is overwhelmed by his instinct to spend more time with you. Simply existing in the same space is enough, which means he has you join him in his living quarters. Your presence is so comforting that it makes focusing on his plans easier, despite the new distractions that come with it. He makes a strange sound when dare to reach a hand out to scratch his ears. Maxie reminds himself not to push it weight into you carefully.
🪨 Overall, he is a pretty interesting hybrid and lover. Maxie often goes between fighting his instincts to just accept them, which is mostly a result of being around humans. He knows his actions are pretty strange to any outsider. But, the Magma Leader is more than used to being disciplined and keeps it mostly under wraps unless he is alone with you. As for those around him, his team simply adores his hybrid status and sees his ability to create magma, almost an example of the team's capabilities. Others do struggle with him, however. Camerupt hybrids just are not super commonly seen outside of volcanic areas, so it is a sight to see one just casually shopping at the Lilycove department store. But, overall, he is left mostly to himself. (Until he seems an ancient ground deity)
🌧Sharpedo Archie🌊
💧 Sharpedo hybrids were known and feared. Known for their fast swimming speeds and apparent cruelty. Archie would want to proclaim those unfounded and demanding towards his species, but he was aware that some of them did target boats and bite through the iron sheet metal of hulls. Instead, he tried to counteract those beliefs for the most part. His body looked pretty humanoid from his waist up, but underneath that was a body more like an elongated Sharpedo's lower half. Though, patches of that rough skin were also on his upper body, too, and his gills, of course. Despite his upfront amicable nature, most people preferred to avoid him in the waters since Sharpedo and their hybrid forms were bad news. It might have stung, but he got it.
💧 Sure, he had the urge to bury his sharp teeth in metal when he felt a boat was disrupting the nature of a habitat, but he was not going to kill anyone. Just scare them off. Archie had self-assigned himself a guardian of sorts to the ocean. His ability to swim at top speeds made his movements terrifying to those he deemed his enemies. And, well, his amicable nature let him make good acquaintances with both those on land or in water, enough to establish a group of sorts that supported his ideals. He almost seemed to reject the more individualistic nature of his species and preferred being in groups. Nearly all of his time is spent out in the waters, either hunting for food or checking out the greater ocean for any signs of human pollution or activity. Though, he also hangs out along beaches, which does scare off some poor people just wanting a beach day.
💧 Amazingly, however, during some of his time up near the shore, he found a human genuinely just curious about him. You stepped closer to the shark merman in intrigue, simply amazed by many things about him. Your questions were happily answered by Archie, who enjoyed a good conversation partner and getting to gush about the ocean and general marine life to anyone who would listen. It was no surprise that you two made plans to meet up again when he had to go out for food once more.
💧 Your meetings after that were filled with many different activities. Sometimes, Archie would have you hold on to him as he swam you out into the ocean proper to show you something he found interesting or pretty. Other times, you would be allowed to prod his body curiously as long as he could do the same to you. You soon discovered his body was not smooth, while he was amazed by the texture of your own. Sparingly, he would share his ideals about how humans kept harming the sea and how he felt it would be better for pokemon if there were more water. You did not entirely get it but nodded along anyway.
💧 Archie hates the odd urge he has to bite you to show his interest and resists it hard, knowing that the damage it would do to your body would be much worse than another Sharpedo hybrid. Instead, he simply tries to just enjoy time spent with you. Showing you waters that humans found it too dangerous to venture into due to the large Sharpedos population. He felt happy to swim around you in the water and almost do parts of mating rituals to give himself some comfort. Though, he could tell most of it was lost on you to his distress. He supposed that humans were not all too familiar with Sharpedo mating habits in the end.
💧 Whenever he does just confess, you seem confused. Apparently, you thought it was obvious that you were both in some kind of relationship. Archie just shrugged it off and grinned, happy that in some way, his intentions were understood. This, however, does mean that he wants to request trying a bite. Should you dare agree, there will probably be a scar, but at least it will look cool. You could also request one of his fallen teeth as a mating gift, too, which he would easily oblige to.
💧 While you are both separated by land and water, you do try to meet each other halfway. Naps are somehow shared in both the water and on land. Archie jokes that he would be okay with a tank in your house just to sleep in to be closer to you. He does feel a bit saddened by your inability to live together, but he understands that he likely would not constantly be around another Sharpedo hybrid in the water. So, instead, he was contented to keep to the same things with you while also admittedly working on some of his plans with his team. You, however, have shown him that humans absolutely are not the worse, and maybe he should be open to other ideals.
💧 Archie is a big sweetie despite his scary appearance as a Sharpedo hybrid, and this becomes learnt as he makes more and more trips to the shore for various reasons. He is also a loving boyfriend to you and brings you assorted gifts from the water while also wanting to show you around the beauty of the sea. He also loves to show you off to anyone he can, simply proud of his choice in a mate and wanting everyone to see it. While he obviously still faces some scrutiny from people due to his hatred of overfishing and polluting of the sea and how he handles it, it is clear that he is simply just trying to protect the ocean. Team Aqua specifically adores him, at least. All his team members are happy to praise their amazing shark leader. (And then he nearly flooded the earth and panics after realising you won't survive that.)

Who is the better written evil bitch!
Propaganda
Elktaur:
He hated himself being a centaur and believed that if he were human his life would be perfect. He cut off his antlers while doing research and then separated himsel into a human and an elk. Turns out both halves posessed the same level of intelligence as a full centaur.
His human part proceeded to decieve the love of his life and get literally everything he ever wanted while his elk part watched from the shadows in despair, until it finally turned into a monster whos only goal was to terrorise the world so that everyone felt as much pain as he did.
Horrible war broke out, and instead of choosing to end it (if one half dies the other does too) his human part desided to play the hero battling against elk's minotaur army without any intention to make it all stop.
Elktaur was later confronted, put back together and executed by his love.
Gustavo
Don’t get me wrong, he was one of the better criminals in the series—looking at YOU, walter—but he has done some pretty terrible things in the name of vengeance.
He frames this young man and manipulates a bunch of people, but he’s fair when it comes to deals and such. He’ll betray people only if they betray him first.
Also, the friendship between him and Mike and Jesse was really nice. You get the sense that they’re the only two that really cared about Jesse, ironically. (Minus badger, skinny pete and his girlfriends. But they didn’t know the extent of what Jesse had done.) Even knowing how Jesse was sent to kill Gus they still liked?? Him???
It’s revealed that Gus is a criminal with morals—he won’t harm children as they have nothing to do with gangs. Unlike some people.
It’s also shown that Gus did all those bad things to take revenge against this kingpin for putting a bullet in his partner’s head many years ago. That’s why he’s downright vicious towards people in that same gang.
The viewers are able to understand Gustavo’s motivations but at the same time not agree with what he’s done. Definitely morally superior than most other criminals there, but still irredeemable. Well written guy! He was supposed to be a side character but the actor was so good that he was a major antagonist on the show.

Halara series master post
Dividers by @/tsunami-of-tears
Book #1: Cracks in the Stone
Years: 405-446
Ko’a grew up in the halls of a family-run inn with their single parent and older sibling, going to public school and dreaming of writing for the local newspaper. But just before their age of apprenticeship, they were swept away to court by the royal parent who had never acknowledged them over a prophecy that suggested they might save the kingdom. They had no interest in anything that grand, only in finding books to read and being kind to children in need of a friend. This bookishness and kindness led them to rise from servant to tutor and eventually earn the acknowledgment of their royal parent, granting them a noble title and an unwanted marriage. Later they would become a trusted advisor to their half sibling. But always, there was the threat and demand of that prophecy. And, sure enough, the worst happened and the kingdom was left in flames under a harsh ruler. But Ko’a found themself in exile with the rest of their family, unsure how exactly they were meant to fix it all.
Book #2: Blood and Ice
Years: 332-375
Aryel, as the royal child named to lead the army rather than rule at home, was resigned to a life of bloody battle as they struggled to win and end the generation-long war. At least they were well-loved among their soldiers and felt at home on the front lines. But after an unexpected tragedy meant they had to rule the kingdom as well, splitting their time between war and the quieter danger of court, the needs of all their people grew harder to balance. And the talk of centaurs as treasonous spies only made everything more complicated. To make matters worse, they weren’t winning and were running out of able soldiers. But they had to end the war somehow, and soon, or there wouldn’t be any kingdom left worth protecting.
Book #3: A Thread of Gold
Years: 184-231
Other than being dismissed as a simple child, Tlapil grew up with a charmed life at court. Their cousin, the heir, made sure of it: lessons from the best tutors, freedom to dance barefoot in the garden, the greatest bards playing their favorite tunes on repeat. As they grew up and discovered an interest in cartography and a friendship with one of the noble slimes at court, they left their own small world and demanded to be seen. They eventually became an advisor for their cousin and greatly improved mapmaking in the kingdom, falling in love with Flim, the first known human-slime relationship. They were graceful and happy and loved. But after Soter’s death, they struggled with their own grief as well as young Lalosh’s. Lalosh, the only remaining royal child, was too young to rule, and so for an 8-year stretch Halara had a foreign regent in their mother, Suzun. The kingdom was falling apart, but Tlapil were more concerned with their family falling apart, and found themself reluctantly embarking on an adventure to protect the people they loved—and perhaps to save the kingdom in the process.
Book #4: Midnight Mage
Years: 251-289
Anjet was just a spare noble child, one of many who came to court seeking a way to distinguish themself. But unlike the others, they caught the eye of the heir to the throne. Despite what others believed, the two really were in love. And despite what their own family seemed to think, Anjet was clever and charming and quick enough to talk the ruler into an arranged marriage based on feeling—but not without a price. Princen Zjuk’s parent was so impressed with Anjet’s quick thinking that they allowed the marriage, with the understanding that Anjet act as their personal spy. At first, Anjet was young and in love and mostly happy at court. Their spy duties didn’t seem like a big deal. But slowly more was expected of them, from complex and dangerous magic to political assassinations. But it was alright, of course it was, because the ruler was getting older and they’d stop when Zjuk took the throne. Only they were unexpectedly widowed young, and with no other viable heirs and no sign of dying, they could be working for this ruler for a long time. And then they were sent to another court to spy and report back instead, and with the culture shock and shift in politics Anjet noticed something oddly the same: the world was breaking. Dragons were leaving and with them, magic seemed to be turning sour. They had already done the unthinkable to protect their kingdom and family, what was a little more to protect the whole world?
Book #5: Garden of Smoke
Years: 494-517
Zi’altsa lived a more or less quiet life as a private investigator of mysteries too small or…delicate to be handled by the royal guard. It kept their mind engaged and allowed them to afford a private residence with a nice garden in the city. They handled cases for people from all walks of life—or very nearly. They never expected to hear from royalty. But when Fen, the spouse of the ruler themself, showed up on their doorstep alone one night, Zi’a’s entire understanding of the world was turned upside down.
Book #6: Shattered Scales
Years: 912-953
Eshara was born into a happy, free, equal time. Halara was the only local kingdom to still have hereditary royalty, and that royalty was little more than a single vote in the government. Eshara’s job would be largely ceremony and mediation, but they were still heavily trained in diplomacy and politics. And, despite it all, there were still games at work. Eshara lived in a free and equal age—so why could they never fit into the system around them? Why was their magic so wrong? Why did that scare everyone around them? And, with the world shifting around them again, would that give them what they needed to protect their people?

Review: I Plunge to My Death; Percy Jackson Ep. 4
TL;DR: They turned a pit-stop into a main event and troubles ensued.
The consequences of shoving half the book into the first two episodes? Episode 4. Baby Percy is, again, adorable, no complaints. The opening scene, Kronos’ slithery voice – we are right back in the thick of it, until we’re not. Best part of the episode is easily the first 4 minutes and it does not recover, I am sorry.
Echidna gets a ridiculous amount of screen time, monologuing on and on and on… On the train, no less, not in the Arch.
Adaptations are allowed to be their own thing, but they are *adaptations* first. The choices that were made in the source material were made for a reason. If the book was bad, no one would have read it, and money wouldn’t be spent turning it into a TV show.
So, in the book, Echidna had a couple pages, and Percy was completely alone confronting her. She showed up, revealed herself, got a one-liner or two in, kicked his butt, and then he fell – end of scene. It was a whirlwind of chaos and incredibly efficient without being spoonfed “I am a monster” until they get the picture.
The purpose of this beat in the story came from Percy’s experience in the river and then St. Louis is behind them – it’s a pitstop, not a centerpiece. Echidna has no thematic connection to any of the characters like Medusa, she doesn’t need to overstay her welcome.
If you didn’t read the book, the episode is fine. The writing is okay, the acting, the VFX. They do retain the family of centaurs and establish Grover being a Searcher for Pan.
It’s not bad! It’s puzzling. The changes are puzzling.
All the filler – Echidna’s monologue, Athena’s temple, Annabeth being unnecessarily rude to Grover, Percy getting poisoned – they don’t feel like the same meaningful changes that were made to extend Medusa’s scenes. They feel like they exist to fill an entire episode before the next big set piece that has to wait until episode 5. The pacing has been thrown completely off balance.
Which wouldn’t have happened if they didn’t rush ten chapters of content.
Because they knew exactly how long the chimera fight would be – about 45 seconds, beat for beat, exactly as it was written. Echidna is just not important in the grand scheme of the story. They still have to fill an entire episode now, so what do they do?
They double back on the character development and the growing friendship established in episode 3 when they all start arguing over Athena for… reasons? In Athena’s temple, Annabeth’s suggestion for Percy to reach out to his dad there would be mighty offensive to the goddess. She calls herself out, saying she knows she’s forcing herself to believe Athena cares about her, the way it was written just makes her look selfish and rude.
There Grover is, all upset about the monument filled with paintings of humans over-hunting buffalo and Annabeth’s response is basically “get over it”. Doesn’t matter if she regrets it once he’s gone, she doesn’t apologize to him and she still believes what she said.
Percy doesn’t need to be poisoned to lose hard to Echidna and the chimera. He’s at his full strength and still panics and botches the fight. He already doubts that his dad cares about him.
The episode does recover its footing somewhat (after padding the runtime) by finally getting him alone in the last 8 minutes. Percy cements his disdain for his dad and how little he feels appreciated, respected, or even noticed by the gods – enough to decide he’ll fight and probably lose alone because he doesn’t matter to the gods anyway. Once he’s in the river, the nereid shows up, tells him to breathe, that Poseidon’s proud, and… cut to black. There's no wonder at his new abilities, no fascination, no "maybe being a demigod is a little bit cool, wow," and no consideration that his dad does care, even a little bit.
The only book change for the better? Percy choosing to go at it alone instead of ending up alone by accident.
I hate to come down so hard on this episode but pacing is critical. The beginning of the book feels slow because there’s a lot of internal monologue, a lot of introspection, lots of breaks between action, and several time skips – Percy spends a couple days at camp before going on his quest and packs a lot of character building moments into it – and they rushed through it all.
St. Louis was already rushed in the book, and this is where they decided to throw in all the filler to slow it down? Writers, if you wanted to pad the runtime, include Gladiola the Poodle giving them directions. Include chapter 14 – the entirety of which is spent in the river establishing new powers and getting told about the gift in Santa Monica, and exacerbating the problem of Percy being mistaken for a terrorist. Ares can still wait and no one would complain.
It’s not the acting, from anyone. It’s not the directing, either. Everyone who worked on this show: The actors, the editors, the set designers, costume department, makeup department, VFX, foley, props, music and sound design, and everyone in between – you all did fantastic and your work is recognized and appreciated.
It’s the big picture that just did not come together this time.
I really, truly, wanted to enjoy this episode coming off the high that was Episode 3 and I’m just left confused once again at all the choices that were made. Just because the bar for greatness was two feet into the topsoil from the first adaptation doesn’t mean it gets to skate by on “well it’s better than what we got before”.
