Treating myself to some Raúl porn today....
Baby, look at me and tell me what you see
You ain't seen the best of me yet
Give me time, I'll make you forget the rest
I got more in me and you can set it free
I can catch the moon in my hand
Don't you know who I am?
Remember my name
~ Fame (Irene Cara)
{a lawyer who drinks scotch & always has snacks? on brand}
{finally got to watch! i’m a grad student with a full-time job. don’t judge me.}

the great is such an underrated piece of mommy issue media. like even putting aside peter’s whole deal, the two episodes where Joanna comes to the palace is chefs kiss fantastic. a succession level confrontstion except with completely orthogonal mother/daughter relationships. “Chew little cat, chew chew chew” is this show’s “I should’ve had dogs”
#ik im the only person on earth watching s2 rn but do you hear me#GOD this show is like vodka infused candy or some shit#so unserious so good and occasionally give la me indigestion#j rambles#the great#the great hulu

So I just found a video comparison of one specific scene in love and death and candy (the Hulu show) and there was this whole debate in the comments about who was better so what do yall think, I have my personal opinion that I already made public, but now I wanted to see other opinions specially bc in the comments they were all over the place bc apparently candy is supposed to be a cold person, but I think there's a difference between that and portraying that in a character and not being that good at playing the role and the little emotions they have, so Elizabeth Olsen or Jessica Biel??
I think it's also important to point out that the shows are clearly approaching the case in different angles Jessica's from what I've seen was more a general view and the one with Lizzie is more focused on Candy and what she said happened almost like it's her pov of the situation (which obviously is that she's a victim) you know

Candy - Friday the 13th (S01E01)
I love the color palette of the show: vintage vomit yellow that overwhelms and makes you feel trapped in a miserable life; as well as bright red that shows the passion, danger and violence hidden under the surface.
First shot: This show is about a true crime case, but it's also about loneliness and the effects it has on people. Said theme is constantly shown by frames like this one, with tons of open space and a character that looks small in comparison. In this particula frame, they even added horizontal and vertical lines that create boxes, showing how distanced he was from her wife and how clueless he was about what was going to happen. However, he's not trapped inside the "smaller" box (the kitchen isle, on the other opposite site); he's in the more open half of the frame, since Betty was the one who actually felt trapped and miserable in her life, without any sort of support from her husband, while he cheated with Candy, indirectly causing what happened to her.
Second shot: Really interesting composition. I love the use of wide lenses in this show to create an odd and eerie atmosphere. It's a perfect little town full of happy housewives, specially Candy, the start and friend everyone seems to love. But that's just her facade.
Third shot: In the scenes before the murder, Candy's always shown with sofe lights and shadows, warm, cozy. But in this sequence, we see her true side. Even if the scene is taking place at 11am, it's dark, full of shadows and harder lights that contour her face, allowing us to see the state of shock and worry she's in.
Fourth shot: One of my favorite shots of the show. Another unusual and very insteresting composition with a large amount of diagonal lights that reflect the unstability and anxiety Alan was going through.

Isn’t Sherbet the Cutest Mighty Solar?
D’aw! I’m sorry, it’s just that she is so cute and lovable and very sweet! Sherbet is even good with making soda pops and other sweet treats at the sweets cafe! I even hope if she gets a role in Solar Opposites outside the wall in the show, I bet her voice actor would be Eden Espinosa! Because I could imagine Sherbet singing “Sunshine” from Eden Espinosa herself:
youtube
This what she would always singing when working at the Sweets Cafe. I even love it when she would use her sweets super powers, especially the ones when it fizzes grape soda bubbles from her hands. Because, in this universe, grape soda is her favorite soda flavor! 🍇 But, the reason why is because she is so kind, so bashful, so sweet and so bubbly, especially to the Solar Opposites kids. Because, after getting unshrunk, she eventually take a liking to the Solar Opposites thanks to the Mighty Pupa saving her!
Oh, and if you guys want to draw her, here is the description over what her suit looks like:
D’aw! I can’t help she is so cute! Aaaahhh!

SECRET CHEF
June 29, 2023
Hulu’s new cooking competition show “Secret Chef” tributes “I Love Lucy” on its sixth episode, “Efficiency”.
In a nod to “Job Switching” (aka The Candy Factory), the cheftestants interact with Cheffy, an animated chef’s hat that lives in a vintage television set. A conveyer belt is part of all episodes of the series.
Just as on “I Love Lucy,” chocolates come down the conveyer belt, and the chefs grab for them, although they do not figure into the challenge.
One chef knows exactly what is being referenced, while another says “What happens on ‘I Love Lucy’? I never watched that show.”
