Hafsah might have hinted the Altair spin-off book on her livestream with HUGENDUBEL last night! She could not say much but said that fans "who know will know", hinting about the plenty of fans who have been asking for an Altair Al-Badawi book for months.
A few days ago she has posted about her writing a book about a blonde character. The only blonde character written by her is our man Altair 🥰

Becca! I accidentally did the most hilarious thing today and has to do with your books it all started with my annual check up at the eye doc and getting my pupils dilated with these stupid eye drops.
Anyway, close to the doc is a Hugendubel and as I walked past it after my appointment I remembered you said your books are available through them in Germany, so I decided to see if they might have them in store just for funsies and playing Pokemon with books 😂
Said store in question is 5 stories tall and a sort of little mall for books with half a floor for English books, so I deemed my chances were good. There I stood, squinting like a granny who lost her reading glasses because I barely could read thanks to having my pupils looking like I was Puss in Boots in the Shrek Christmas special and tried to make sense of the different sorting of the section compared to the rest of the store.
I already figured out the English book section was parted into crime, modern day straight romance and fantasy that was either following the footsteps of Game of Thrones or Shadow and Bones. In short, not the company for your books.
While I still didn't give up hope an employee appeared, asked if I need help. Swiftly, I explained the situation, leading to the question why I am looking for the book of a friend in the English book section which leads to me shortly summarizing The Stray Spirit and A Rival Most Vial when a second employee appeared like I summoned a genie and asked me to repeat the quick tag summary of A Rival most Vial ( I said something along the lines of cozy slice of life gay enemies to lover romance in old school fantasy setting).
Now I found myself giving a short explanation of the books, how I know you without mentioning Tumblr just to be sure, and giving the employee who appeared like a genie the titles again because she was this sounds like something right up her alley.😂
So, even if I couldn't find one of your books out in the wild I might have created a sale 🤣🤣
And when I left the store, I saw they do a table with "Recommended by the staff" so maybe I find one of your babies there soon. 🤞🤞🤞
That’s awesome, thank you!! Also, a 5-story bookstore?! 😻 sounds incredible!

Hey @thebibliosphere, do you still want pictures of your books paperback versions?
I ordered this one from Hugendubel in Germany. Printed by BoD in Norderstedt, Germany.
The cover looks correct, as far as I can tell. (Compliments to your cover artist by the way, it looks wonderful!)
The pages are ever so slightly wavy, but this might not be the printers fault. More likely it is due to humidity, after being stuck in my mailbox for several days. (I was not at home and the package did not really fit in the Mailbox, it was protected from direct rain, but not much more)
Anyways, it doesn't really matter to me, because I'm one of those heathens who read books in the bathtub...
I really look forward to reading it, thank you for your hard work and have a wonderful day!

MY FAVORITE VEGAN ADVENT CALENDAR
Today it should be about advent calendars, more precisely vegan advent calendars. As a child, I actually "only" had a picture calendar. However, my mother put a calendar with sacks, i.e. 24 small gifts, on my feet for annoying nerves on my part. I don't know if I have asked for another year, I'm not sure. Basically, I and my siblings were satisfied with our self-selected, but mostly the same calendars. We always had the choice between different people, but somehow everyone had their own calendar. I actually took mine into my adult life and use it every year - completely autonomously - despite devastating signs of wear.
As it is, times change, children and their demands change, and at least one with chocolate must do it. https://www.chinesefoodrecipes.cc/ , when I was accepted into the sacred circle of mothers, it took a lot of research to find a vegan chocolate advent calendar. Everything is getting easier. Today you can find a great selection. I have put together a few advent calendars that I really like. A little note, especially for mothers who claim to do it themselves: The pre-Christmas period can be incredibly stressful. SO much has to be prepared and the whole thing also with love, dedication and ingenuity. Don't go crazy. Sleep in the nights and recharge your batteries for the days. You don't have to do everything yourself if it brings you to the edge of your powers ❤️
Vegan chocolate calendar So here comes one of the said calendars to fill yourself. However, the pockets on the back are quite small 7 × 7 cm. So space for small things or messages, vouchers and love oaths.
∼∴∼ Paper advent calendar My favorite category is definitely the paper calendar. Snow-covered landscapes, snow, glitter ... that's where the big childhood feelings come up. My mother had a large portfolio in which a large number of paper advent calendars bustle. As already written above, we were allowed to choose one every year. A really nice ritual, which I would like to continue. Hugendubel has a great selection, because you can click your way through. I'll link my favorites here.

Hungary transgender law throws community into limbo
Ivett Ordog, 39, is one of those affected by the new law banning legal gender changes. “While I would never go back to living the life of a male — that weird alien I used to see in the mirror — I’m also living in fear because I have no idea what’s next,” she says.
The coronavirus pandemic presents a major threat to countries’ health systems, economies and most vulnerable people.
But advocates for the transgender community say Hungary has chosen this moment to bring in a law that hurts transgender people, one of its most marginalized groups. While Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was ruling by decree, the government brought in a new law banning legal gender changes — although it did not take advantage of its emergency powers to pass the law.
The bill, passed by parliament on May 19 and signed into law a week later, states that “sex at birth” will be recorded in Hungary’s civil registry — and may not be changed later on identification documents such as driving licenses and passports.
Hungarians are only permitted to choose from a registry of specifically “male” or “female” names in accordance with their ascribed sex marker. They aren’t allowed to use a name from the other sex category on their legal documents, and there are no gender-neutral names — so many intersex, transgender and non-binary people will be forced to be legally tied to a name that, they say, does not reflect them.
Iceland, Sweden and Finland had similar rules allowing names only from set lists until they were changed in recent years.
“When I first heard about this new law, I got very angry. Angry because this country, which is very much part of my identity — and I am very proud that I am Hungarian — says to me that it doesn’t want me to be who I am. It is very dehumanizing,” says Daniel Gyarmati, 20. He realized he was transgender four years ago, at around the time the government first suspended legal gender recognition, making him “despair.” Gyarmati wanted to go to university but feared people seeing his old name in the system. When the suspension was lifted for a few months before the April 2018 election, Gyarmati was able to change his name and start university “with a calm heart.” The change will stand despite the new law.
“My claim for name and gender change has not been approved yet, so I am one of the great victims of this law,” says Laura Andrassy, 28. “I am outraged. … I am upset, but I am not surprised, sadly. I will fight for my right because I want to have a family later on, but this law hinders me from that. If I can not do it here, I will do so in another place in this world.” Andrassy says she began to accept who she was after she got to know the trans community while living in France and the US. “In Paris, acceptance was never a question. Even in Utah, one of the most conservative places in the US, there is more acceptance than in Hungary,” she says.
Transgender rights groups say this change will mean trans, non-binary and intersex people are exposed to potential discrimination every time they use a bank, rent property or apply for jobs.
Photographer Akos Stiller, who is based in Budapest, wanted to capture portraits of the people who may lose the chance to determine their own identities under the new law.
“I knew that they must take a very hard road, as well emotionally, physically, to become the gender they wish to be — and this made me believe, these persons are facing really tough challenges.”
After the legislation was proposed, he said, “I started to feel that to share their stories is a necessity.”
“Society sometimes can be judged really by how it deals with its minorities, or deals with the most vulnerable members. I think it’s very important to know these people’s stories.”
Noé Horvath, 30, realized he was transgender when he was 18. “I was afraid of what would be if I told my parents about my identity — would I be kicked out of the family?” When he was 26, he decided “that if I want to live a happy life, I have to do something about this.” He began his transition on March 8, 2017, International Women’s Day. After two months of taking hormones, he says, “nobody could have seen that I was born as a woman, but my papers still showed that I was a woman.” He says he had some embarrassing situations where people didn’t know his bank card belonged to him. Horvath was one of a group of transgender applicants who filed a successful lawsuit through the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to change gender while the process was suspended.
Hungary is a member of the EU, but Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been forging his own path. He has introduced a series of laws tightening regulations on the media, central bank, constitutional court and non-governmental organizations, moves that EU leaders have warned would undermine Hungary’s democracy. In 2012, Hungary’s new constitution defined life as beginning at conception and marriage as being between a man and a woman, and failed to forbid discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. In 2016, the legal route to changing gender was suspended, and was only briefly lifted in the months before the 2018 election.
LGBTQ rights group Háttér Society tells CNN there are concerns the new law could be expanded to people who have already legally changed gender. Board member Tamás Dombos says the association has already had calls from trans people considering leaving the country — or even suicide.
While many countries have legal routes to change gender, how easy it is varies from country to country, and discrimination against trans people is common worldwide. The Trans Murder Monitoring project recorded 2,982 murders of trans and gender-diverse people globally between January 1, 2008, and September 30, 2018.
Ivett Ordog, left, says that as someone who is not visibly transgender, she faces “awkward and sometimes dangerous situations” whenever she shows her ID because she has to come out every time. Ordog had transitioned when she met her partner Atanaz Talos, 30. Talos was still living as a woman but wanted to transition, and has now done so. Ordog considered herself a lesbian at the time and says she had to consider how she felt about that. “I have come to a conclusion that it’s not his gender I am loving, and I can love him as a man.”
Anna Hídvégi, 28, took a long time to accept that she was transgender after she was called names as a child. “Elementary school was terrible for me. I was bullied a lot,” she said. She changed her name when she was 24. “When I first heard about this new law I got very mad for one day, very depressed for the next, but on the third, I thought, let’s do something about it. As an activist I am trying to talk as much about it as possible. They can try to change back my gender, but I will not cooperate with them in any way. I will go to jail if needed.”
The Hungarian government defended the law, telling CNN in an emailed statement that it “does not affect men’s and women’s right to freely experience and exercise their identities as they wish.”
“In no way does the relevant section of the bill that some people criticize prevent any person from exercising their fundamental rights arising from their human dignity or from living according their identity,” the statement continued.
Since coming to power in 2010, Orbán has been chipping away at LGBTQ rights in Hungary.
Hungary recognizes legal unions for same-sex couples, but the ruling Fidesz party, which has become increasingly populist under Orbán, opposes the legalization of same-sex marriage. There have also been proposals in recent years to strip away rights from same-sex couples, warns Dombas, although these were not passed by the parliament.
In 2018, Orbán angered universities by banning gender studies programs and government lawmakers attacked Coca-Cola for running ads that included images of same-sex couples kissing. One government lawmaker called for a ban on the Budapest Pride Parade and the Speaker of the National Assembly called gay men and lesbians second-class citizens, and likened same-sex adoption to pedophilia.
Eszter Berencsi, 29, believes it is ”unethical” that the government brought in this law during the coronavirus crisis “as anybody against it doesn’t have the democratic right to oppose that — you cannot demonstrate against it, you cannot organize in person against it, because of the restrictions.” Berencsi says she knew since kindergarten “that something was not all right with me” but buried the feelings. At around 9 years old, she realized that she didn’t “have to live in this body forever” and found it “comforting” during puberty to know she could change later. In 2016, she began her transition. “I don’t receive anything negative in my everyday life, although they say I am quite ‘passing,’ meaning you wouldn’t say I have not been born as a woman,” she says.
A 2019 poll by Median research group cited by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) found that 70% of Hungarians believed that trans people should have access to legal gender recognition.
Katrin Hugendubel, advocacy director for ILGA-Europe, said in a statement that legal gender recognition was “the bedrock of access to equality and non-discrimination for trans and intersex people,” and without it, they would be “subject to immense stigma, discrimination, harassment, and violence” when performing simple tasks such as visiting the doctor or applying for a cellphone.
Rights groups including Háttér Society are now requesting the law be sent for review to the Constitutional Court, the principal organization protecting the Hungarian democratic state, which decides on the constitutionality of acts of parliament.
“In this case, this would be such a direct conflict with the government, and we are a bit afraid that they might not be brave enough to do that,” said Dombos.
Erik Erdős, 23, is a trans activist who spent years accepting who he was but now cannot legally change gender. “I am afraid to file my papers. I wouldn’t know in how many years they would be evaluated. There is such an uncertainty. I am afraid to get denied. It was a very long journey for me to realize I am transgender. I was around 20, and I had four suicide attempts before that. When I admitted to myself I am transgender, that was a huge relief for me. Finally I have realized what was the ‘problem’ with me all along.” When gender recognition was suspended in Hungary in 2016, he says, “I felt hopeless. I was alone then.”
Adam Csikós, 23, received his documents two years ago but says he has always dreaded that a law would take away his happiness. He says that in middle school, he tried to fit in as a girl but still cut his hair short because that reflected who he was. He felt that how he experienced things internally differed from what people around him expected from him. “I never had illusions that I can live happily ever after in peace. I have expected that after years, because of some law, my past will return. The many bad feelings will return because legally I couldn’t use the name and gender I lived my everyday life with,” he says.
Háttér says it has been approached by thousands of transgender people seeking legal support, and plans to help some to challenge the law in the country’s lower courts. Meanwhile, 23 applicants have taken their case to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) with the help of Transvanilla Transgender Association. But the court process could take years, according to Dombos.
Photographer Stiller says Hungary’s new law looks like a plan to create “misery” for people who are often already dealing with self-doubt over their identity.
“This is really an effort for them to realize, actually, that’s how they should be, how they should live their life,” he said. “I think it’s really hard, and it should be respected.”
He hopes his photographs will make people in Hungary and around the world think more about transgender people and be “more sympathetic to their struggles, to their feelings, to how they want to live their life.”
As the world battles huge challenges, including a deadly virus, the simple wish to choose a legal identity now seems increasingly out of reach for Hungary’s transgender people.
Zsanett Séra, 28, began trying to change gender in August 2018 and recently had it certified after several lawsuits and back-and-forth processes through the system. “Even though I have received this change, I am afraid that this new law will withdraw this,” says Séra. “I find it outrageous that I fought for this name change for one-and-a-half years … and with just a stroke of a pen they take it back.” She believes only a small percentage of society sees trans people in a negative light. “This minority is very loud on the internet and very quiet in reality,” she says.

Book Tag: Would You Rather ...
Thank you @flamingmirrorbookish for tagging me!
Have unlimited money for ebooks, or a $5000 Barnes and Noble gift card? So, I take the liberty to update this question to include non-US bookchains and say, I’d rather have a 5000 € gift card for Hugendubel than unlimited money for ebooks. I don’t have to spend it all at once so I would be set for many many years.
Meet any deceased poet or J.K. Rowling? Honestly, I am not fond of either option. I like reading, but I neither like analysing what I read nor am I particularly interested in an author’s private life.
Write the world’s most famous book, or visit the world of your favourite book for one day? Would the world’s most famous book also mean that I would earn money for it? I am seriously wondering what one could write to surpass the bible (if I remember corretly, that is currently the most famous book).
Choose _________, or ________ (insert characters from your favourite fictional love triangle)? I cannot think of a love triangle I like.
Experience Hogwarts in a very realistic and accurate virtual reality, or travel around the world for a year, at no cost? Travel around the world, hands down. This is much better than a virtual reality, it’s reality at its best: traveling, not worrying about money, not having to work, ... Perfect.
I cannot think of anyone to tag (I’ve done so many tags recently and I’ve seen so many tags, I don’t know who’s done this tag already), so if you want to do this, you are now tagged. Honestly. This was how I started to interact on tumblr, I just did tags I saw that looked like fun and then people started tagging me.

I was tagged forever ago by @acreasy1 – I’m so sorry this took me so long! Thank you for thinking of me! :)
Name: Veronika
Nickname: Niki (seriously, please don’t call me Veronika, that is so weird.)
Birthday: 29th of January
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi, most likely
Height: 158cm which, if I remember right, is about 5’2’’?
Time zone: Central European
What time & date it is there: 1st of November, 16:51
What time & date it would be in Antarctica: I’m relatively sure if anyone in Antarctica is reading this, they’ll have a clock/calendar somewhere, they don’t need me to tell them the time
Average hours of sleep I get each night: five to seven? Sometimes more, sometimes less?
RL OTP: do people actually ship real life people?
Other OTPs: Mainly, right now… Doctor/Rose and Doctor/Master (both in any combination). Not focussing on but definitely present in the background: Destiel, FrostIron, and a few others
The last thing I Google’d was: Hugendubel (pretty much German’s biggest bookshop chain)
My most used phrase/s: I honestly have no idea. Probably something along the lines of “I don’t know”
First word that comes to mind: meow
What I last said to a family member: That would be… “Cat weird.” Because I tend to speak in half-sentences, and it meant our neighbours’ cat who came inside, waited until we gave him food and cat milk, ate maybe two pieces and then disappeared upstairs.
One place that makes me happy and why: Bookshops. Just… bookshops.
How many blankets I sleep under: One. Sleeping under more than one feels weird, like it restricts my movements.
Favourite beverage: Black tea, or water.
The last movie I watched in the cinemas was: I… don’t even know, might still have been Wonder Woman? Gonna watch Thor: Ragnarök next weekend though :)
Three things I can’t live without: Assuming we’re not talking about biological essentials like air and stuff, nor about people since they’re not strictly speaking “things”? ...books. Really, I think you could take most things away from me if you just left me enough books. Pen and paper would be nice too. (And my phone because I need it to connect to people, but that therefore belongs in the “people” section and doesn’t count.)
Something I plan on learning: How to sew so I can at least cobble together something of a cosplay every now and then.
A piece of advice for all my followers: Generally, do not take me as a role model for things, but… just, you know, do your thing? Like whatever you like and don’t let people ruin your fun, and if they say “ew it’s so cringey/boring/stupid/mainstream/childish/etc.” then it’s their problem and they can shut up. (I’ve seen so many posts calling “Superwholock” cringey and all, and honestly, I still think it’s hilarious. Suck it up, people, as long as I’m not hurting anyone, I can like what I want.)
You all have to listen to this song: I’m right now stuck on “Die unstillbare Gier” from the musical “Tanz der Vampire” but I honestly have no clue if there’s an English version, and I’m afraid there isn’t :/
My blog/s: Only got this one, and it’s a fandom mess, currently stuck mostly on Doctor Who. As you probably noticed if you’re reading this. But really, it’s whatever I’m interested in and there’s other stuff too.
Tagging... people I’m hopefully not annoying too much (tell me if I am!) @colourinside, @jemsauce, @joi-in-the-tardis, and @fangirling-in-general-idk (no obligations, I’m sorry if you already did it and I didn’t see, and tell me if you want me to stop ♥)

New Game Round-up: Revivals of Valley of the Kings, Exodus, Hammer of the Scots, and War of the Worlds
by W. Eric Martin
• With the pace of the game market being what it is, new titles coming and going with every breath you take, I'm not surprised to see games getting rebooted into new editions sooner than they might have in the past. Doing so is a fine way to get attention for a game that might otherwise be overlooked as past its prime, while also drawing in people who might have been on the fence about it. Tokaido saw a new edition for its fifth anniversary in 2017, for example, and Suburbia is getting a souped-up, everything-in-one-box edition for 2019 on its seventh anniversary. The newest reboot along these lines is Alderac Entertainment Group's announcement of a "premium edition" of Tom Cleaver's Valley of the Kings card series on its fifth anniversary. Here's what you'll find in Valley of the Kings: Premium Edition, which hits Kickstarter on April 2, 2019:
When you die, you can take it with you! Take on the role of Egyptian nobles at the time of the pharaohs, preparing for death and burial in the Valley of the Kings. Players want to fill their tombs with food, canopic jars, statues, amulets and other treasures, and to do so they acquire cards that are laid out in the shape of a pyramid; purchase cards at the base of the pyramid, and it "crumbles" to bring cards higher in the pyramid to the base where they can be bought. The pyramid resets each round with new offerings. You score only for cards that you remove from your deck and stash in your tomb, so if you keep using valuable cards for their effects and don't entomb them before the game ends, you could lose out on big points! Whoever collects the most valuable artifacts in their tomb wins. Valley of the Kings: Premium Edition includes all the cards from the three previously released games (Valley of the Kings, Afterlife, Last Rites), plus the components needed to play with a fifth and sixth player. It also includes rules for solo play, dividers for all the cards, and new pharaoh cards that give their holder unique abilities. The components are upgraded to 300+ tarot-sized cards.
• Exodus Chronicles is another such reboot/premium edition, with this Rainer Ahlfors and Andrei Novac design from Board&Dice being a new version of 2012's Exodus: Proxima Centauri and its Edge of Extinction and Event Horizon expansions and with it being Kickstarted now (KS link). You might be noticing a pattern for these types of titles! Here's a rundown of the setting and how this game differs from the original:
In Exodus Chronicles, you take on the role of one of six human factions, fighting for survival and dominance in an empire-building saga of epic proportions! Choose the primary path of your faction and elect the leader you believe is most capable of guiding your faction towards victory. Along the way, you must make clever decisions at every turn as you explore the sectors surrounding your home planet, expand the reach of your budding empire, exploit newly discovered worlds for their resources, and exterminate enemies that stand in your way. Exodus Chronicles is a modern reimplementation and streamlined redesign of critically acclaimed Exodus: Proxima Centauri and its two expansions Edge of Extinction and Event Horizon. The game features six asymmetrical factions, each offering multiple choices of starting home worlds and faction leaders. While the loved and praised game experience remains true to its predecessor, Exodus Chronicles is not merely a reprint of Exodus: Proxima Centauri. Each game mechanism has been thoroughly revisited and redesigned with the purpose of improving, enhancing, and streamlining game play.
• Some new editions take longer than others, though, with Reiner Knizia's New Tactical Games with Dice and Cards from Blue Terrier Press being the first English-language release of a book that originally appeared only in German in 1990 from Hugendubel Verlag. Twenty-nine years between first and second editions, with that period of time practically spanning Knizia's entire game-designing career. As the title suggests, this book is a collection of game designs that you can play with a deck of cards, dice, and a few other components. Dan Laursen has posted a helpful overview of the book on BGG. • Spanish publisher Do It Games was founded in 2018, and it's already released more than a half-dozen titles, including a new edition of Hammer of the Scots from Tom Dalgliesh and Jerry Taylor. Notes Do It's Artur Zanón, "This version has some differences from the Columbia one: mounted map 2,3mm., new card size and illustrations, rounded wooden blocks, a thick game box, two black cloth bags in which to keep the wooden blocks, and a new rules layout."
• Another title coming from Do It in Spain is Denis Plastinin's War of the Worlds: The New Wave, a title first released in Russia in 2018 by Jet Games Studio and Lavka Games. Grey Fox Games ran a Kickstarter for a new English edition of the game in January 2019, and that edition is due out in August 2019. Here's an overview of the setting and gameplay:
War of the Worlds: The New Wave is an asymmetrical deck-building game with a playing board for two players. The game events unfold several years after the original "War of the Worlds" story by H.G. Wells. The extraterrestrial invasion is occurring once again, but this time the Martians have arrived on a giant spaceship that lands in one of the backwater districts in Scotland. During the game, one player commands the alien forces, and the other one leads the UK self-defense units. The main objective of the invaders is to completely annihilate the population of Great Britain, while the opposite side needs to deal enough damage to the Martian army. The game is played with two asymmetrical decks of cards, a playing board, tokens, and miniatures.
It's so easy to miss game announcements these days, even when I'm doing almost nothing but that every work day. Sheesh!

In Hugendubel/Sendlingertorr (7 December 2018 3:45PM/6:35 PM)
I actually made it to breakfast this morning, and despite only eating an egg, I stole several pastries to carry around today. We left for an art museum at around 9:30 AM, to arrive at 10:00 AM. We were there to see exhibits on modern art, going on a tour that lasted for about two hours. We only covered roughly three rooms in the museum, which was a rather large structure and had lots that we were unable to see. The topic of our tour was not really my thing, but our tour guide was passionate and interesting to listen to. She talked a bit too much about spirituality for my taste, though.
From talking to most of the class, and Tyler, they thought that the class was a bit of a mess. I determined that I am not a huge fan of the harsh lines and colours of Modern art.
After exploring the gift shop and getting our stuff from the lockers, I went with Maddie, Anna, Kelli, and Aidan to get burgers for lunch. The food was nothing special, but they sold some type of lemonade called bionada which was really good.
After lunch. I parted ways with the group, as I was getting peopled out and wanted to look for a Christmas present for my mother. I'd found a shop called die Mendalia that I wanted to check out. It ended up being a rather small shop that I could not make heads nor tails of and ended up wandering around it for at least half an hour. I only left when one of the shop workers asked if I needed anything, implying, to me at least, that I had been there for too long and needed to leave because it was getting weird.
I left and took the subway to Marienplatz, which I wandered around for a while looking for somewhere to hang out. I first went into a small bookstore that looked like a used one, but seemed to just be a local one. I did not stay there for very long, because they did not have anywhere that looked suitable to set up camp and hang out nor books that I was interested in. I wandered for a little while longer and decided to come to Hugendubel, needing to search it in Google Maps in order to find my way. I have been hanging out: doing homework and people watching for a little bit, only stopping at around 4:00 PM to get some tea. This place is a lot more crowded than the barnes and nobles that I am used to.
I am planning on soon going to look for more yarn and get dinner. Wish me luck...
Good news, I got what I was looking for. Bad news, men are scary.
After I completed the homework that I was doing at Hugendubel, I looked for books for a little while, leaving for my evening activities at 5:00 PM. I assumed that it would take me a while to walk to the yarn shop and pick yarn. Boy was I wrong. It only took me about 11 minutes to walk to the yarn store, which was not too bad, as no one came near me. It was only scary when I got to the shop, as I had to walk between two guys who were sitting on the step and smoking. I nearly jumped over the four steps it took to get to the door, I wanted to get past them that badly.
I am rather happy with the yarn that I picked. It is soft and that is all that I was looking for. My only problem is that all of the nice yarn that I could find was from Italy and not local.
The yarn store was near the christmas market that Asher and I went to the other day. I wandered around it for a little while, until I got bored, and went into a cafe. I purchased a lemonade and hung out there until I determined that Asher, Anna, Kelli, and Aiden would be arriving soon. While I was waiting, some guy looked at me through the window and laughed loudly and scarily. It made me want to hide under a table.

(@deadcatwithaflamethrower this might be of interest to people who want to buy Ashlesha outside the US.)
The first bit applies to German peeps:
Trying to find an alternative to Amazon I’ve been asking in bookshops close to me. The chain bookstore I tried (Hugendubel), which couldn’t even find the book with ISBN, which is ironic, since they have the ebook in their online shop.
The indie book store around the corner was able to find it, because she actually looked online for it, but wasn’t sure how to order it and could only tell me that it would cost extra to order it.
Then I tried Dussmann, which is like a department store for anything culture and entertainment related and has an extra part for English language things, and she found the book without trouble and told me it would cost 32-35 € (can’t remember the exact amount). (She also couldn’t guarantee that the book would arrive less damaged, because buying TPBs apparently means you don’t care about the book arriving with fucked up corners. Or worse.) But Dussmann only has a branch in Berlin, and I’m not sure if you can have stuff delivered elsewhere.
I’m assuming other German online shop aren’t much better.
Now the interesting bit for everyone:
Since Germany isn’t far from the UK I thought to myself, try UK chains. Which is how I stumbled upon wordery.com and bookdepository.com. Both have FREE WORLDWIDE DELIVERY!!!! (There might be limits to that. You’ll have to check yourself. The links go to the country lists.) You need a credit card or paypal to pay them, and there might be additional customs and tax costs, but that’s still worlds better than 30+ $ shipping costs.
Foyles, Waterstones and Blackwell’s in the UK also have Ashlesha in their online shop, for those who might prefer that.
