"My arm went numb. Move so I can turn on the other side." Will said to a very cuddly Hannibal who was in fact the reason the said hand was numb.
"I don't feel like moving." The response came quickly and then Hannibal made himself even more comfortable.
"I forgot that you are literally a human shaped anaconda."
"What do you mean?" Hannibal asks as he failed to find any romantic element in that.
"You become extremely cuddly after you have dinner. So cuddly that you refuse to move until your digestive system does its thing. And your killing style is absolutely the same. You don't hunt more than a few times a month."
Hannibal hid his grin in Will's shoulder, the mental image itself amusing him.
"The bodies of the pigs that I catch offer more than enough resources to last for a month. However, I won't deny the fact that I do prefer to lay low after having a nice meal. That is because glucose levels go high and-"
"It's okay, I can be our brains while yours is not working. When Jack asked you to consult on the Ripper case exactly the day after you literally disembodied and cooked someone, I could tell there was not much going on in here." Will explained as he used his free hand to poke Hannibal's forehead.
"The liver works hard when processing meat."
"And alcohol. Your liver must be a champ to survive the amount of wine you consume."
"Why are you so judgemental tonight, my dearest?"
"Forgive me, it's just that I can no longer feel my arm." Will replied bitterly.
"And by the way," Hannibal added while not moving an inch, "Your liver must be running on whiskey alone. Wine has better properties."
"When was the last time I had a glass of whiskey?"
"Although you count my glasses, I do not monitor your behavior."
"That is a huge lie."
"You called me a snake and an alcoholic and a liar all in one evening. I am terribly hurt by these accusations."
"Well then don't be any of those? And move."
"You called me a constrictor snake, darling, I genuinely cannot free my prey."
"Prey? You just had dinner. If I wanted to, I would kick you so hard you would fall off the bed."
"The best you can do is to accept your fate. Death by the constriction of my love."
"And here I thought you wanted to be a little spoon tonight."
Hannibal freed Will's arm in an instant and turned his back to him waiting to be embraced from behind.
Will sighed relieved and did as promised. He spooned Hannibal putting himself in a position where he could easily dominate him. "Funny how you called your mongoose your prey."

💚Imagine catching a snake in a huge net within the dark rainforest. An anaconda of massive size stares into your eyes,as you approach the net. His tongue flitters against your hand as you stroke his snout and rub his neck. Expecting an attack, the anaconda doesn't. He stays calm, staring, his heavy breathing the only sound between you both.
Apparently,he was larger and stronger than you. A fragile human who could easily be crushed and eaten like a mouse or any small animal for the matter. Your physique would make a good chase for the snake, but it would be tiresome to drag 44 feet of muscle just to catch you.
You : I can't wait to report you to the team. The biggest anaconda to live. And not to mention, black with yellow rings and white speckles!
He eyed your figure up and down as you jubiliantly spoke, listening to the excited pumping of your heart.
You : Aren't you excited? You'll be famous!
You watched the anaconda get comfortable by stretching his lengthy form, net still upon him.
You : Are'nt you happy? Don't be sad. The team will just take your picture!
You kissed the snake's snout which was cold of course, and his response? Heavy breathing. Consoling the predator, you got in the net with him.
You : See,Now I can be with you.
You tried to call your team to tell them come to get you and the snake, but the phone had no signal. It was a rainforest,so it'd be normal for a phone or equipment not to respond. To worsen things,a downpour began. Luckily these were waterproof, but you and the snake however were not.
You : Great..Now my clothes are wet and there's nowhere to put them.
You groaned and lied against the snake's face, eventually falling asleep. The next morning you awoke with a yawn, clothes clinging to your form, and messy damp hair
Snake : Did you sleep well?
The snake's voice was clear, opposed to yesterday, which was only breathing.
You : Did you talk?
Snake : I did,love.
You : Ok..this is freaky.
Snake : You're not hallucinating. Look.
You giggled as his tongue tickled your face.
Snake : Your smell is delectible.
You were curious.
You : Of what?
Snake : Your soft,tender skin
You : I took a bath in advance before I came out here. So I guess the rainwater washed off the bug repellent.
Snake : I suppose.
You : It's useless keeping you in a net..No one will come and get me at this point.
While out of the net,you retrieved your hunting knife,to free the serpent, doing so.
Snake : This is a big discovery..are you sure?
You : Yes.
You freed the snake, and he yawned, proceeding to tickle your breasts as you removed your clothing.
You : Naughty snake..bad snake.
The snake giggled at your scolding,as he grew to like your kindness and lack of fear towards him.
Snake : Are you hungry?
The snake heard your stomach.
You : I think I got some food in my bag.
You bent over to retrieve food, and he tickled your nuggies with his flicking tongue
You : Stop you naughty snake!
Snake : Your form intrigues me. I like it very much.
You got a foot long hero in your bag,and decided to share it with the snake. After eating and drinking water, you stood upright
Snake : I love your form, and it's parts. Allow me to lick them.
It seemed the snake took delight in playing with your parts. You grew tired of telling him how naughty and bad he was,so you submitted to him, laying on the rainforest floor, allowing him to mess with every bit of you, tasting sniffing and licking. The snake loved your laughter, and how your face lit up whenever he'd tickle you or sniff you.💚
💚There will be another part added! Stay tuned. I researched transitions by surgical means before anything, and hope I got it right💚

Idk if y’all heard but last month, we reclassified the green anaconda into two separate species with a genetic difference of like, 5.5% (humans and chimps only have a 2% difference), so this was huge. And the snake they found that confirmed it? Found dead, and it’s going through the rumour mill that she was shot. I believe it, because she was in the prime of her life and set to live much longer without interference.
I am beyond frustrated and upset, not only that poachers and hunters find joy in killing for sport, but take advantage of publications that are meant for enrichment to hunt these animals. And the other thing is now the scientists who found her and reclassified the species are being blamed for her death. “They should have kept their mouths shut about it” shut the fuck up. I’m just, way beyond angry.
#full offence. hunters and poachers should be shot#not sustenance hunters—I respect them because they understand how to treat nature#ana says stuff#ana julia the anaconda#tw animal death

🦖 What's your favourite extinct animal?
Its the Titanoboa‼️‼️ a giant snake that lived in the Palaeocene. Kinda of an odd time for the earth, dinosaurs recently extinct leaving all these fun niches for other animals to take up.
It reached lengths of around 14.3 metres long, very beautiful, very powerful.
It likely acted much like the modern Anaconda, likely using its massive size to wrap around its prey and strangle it. It would have lived along large, humid rivers where giant turtles, crocodiles and other giant fish lived.
(A recreation of the Titanoboa compared to a average sized human) (truly, a huge and magnificent beast)
(A fun little paleo drawing of a Titanoboa hunting its prey. Obvi not how it would typically hunt but still a fun drawing)
#sadly it is extinct😔😔#but anyways people always sleep on extinct animals that aren’t dinosaurs#if I had to chose another one it would be the spinosaurous#another animal that slayyed its design#not undertale#void askes

An enrichment question for YOU: do you think Whitestone would have a specific local breed of cat (separate from regular moggies) and if yes, what do you think it'd be like, both appearance and temperament wise? Norwegian Forest Cat, Russian Blue, something like the wild tree-climbing cats that apparently exist in the Parchwood (mentioned in the Briarwood Arc, when they're trying to find the tunnel into the castle) or something else entirely?
Additionally, how do you think magic might affect both cats and cat breeding, especially the latent divine magic in the Alabaster Sierras due to the godsblood in the whitestone. Do you think you'd end up with divinely magical cats due to magic seeping into the groundwater, plants, and thus up through the trophic levels?
Finally getting to this one!
I’ll first poke at your thing about magic: unfortunately, if the cats are impacted by the magic, the people would be as well. People eat their livestock and game from the forest which would likewise be exposed to any magical effects of the whitestone. We talked about that a bit, but if we’re just going off canon then I don’t think the latent magic of the land would impact the cats much. Its main influence would be on the existence of feral populations at all: with so many monsters in the area, the cats would either have to be decently dependent on humans to survive, or hardy and capable of getting out of reach of their predators.
Now to the meat of things: there are two answers to this!
The first one is the boring, likely one: see, cat breeds are a relatively new thing. Compared to dogs, which have had populations bred for specific tasks since over 2300 years, cats are mostly left to do their own thing. While the idea that cats domesticated themselves is an oversimplification, it’s hard to make a cat better at its job - hunting vermin and being cute. Dogs and livestock and pigeons (people forget so often that pigeons were a big deal and are domestic, but that’s a rant for another day) were all selectively bred for different uses: herding and ratting are different skillsets, as is herding cattle versus herding sheep, and you might not need as much wool in a warm climate and might prefer faster growth or more meat, for instance.
So Whitestone likely has a landrace breed of cats - these are cats which were just selected for by isolation and the requirements of their habitat (and some preference for their look by their people). Notable examples of such cats are many big longhair breeds - Norwegian forest cats and Siberians for instance - and some recognized by a quirk of coloration - like the high-white Turkish Angora and Van or the pointed Siamese. Given Whitestone’s climate, they’d likely have cats similar to the original Norwegian forest cats (henceforth NFCs): big bodied, huge paws, a thick double coat, smaller tufted ears. Just your basic big fluffy cat adapted for the cold. Due to the abundant forests, black tabbies would likely be most common - this is the default that tends to get selected for in wooded areas where inbreeding isn’t too bad.
To be honest, you could probably just transpose NFCs and dub them Parchwood forest cats and call it a day. Longhair black mackerel/classic tabbies with some white, with smatterings of other colors from rare travelers who brought their pets with them. They even have a fitting backstory, having likely been ship cats for Vikings and acclaimed for their climbing ability.
But why stop there?
[more under the cut]
Matt specifies that these tree-climbing cats are ocelot-like, which should mean a wild species that may or may not be able to hybridize with the domestic cats. This is where things get interesting - ocelots are good climbers, sure, but given how the Parchwood is chock full of shit worse than anaconda or jaguar I’d lean more towards the margay:
Margay are arguably the most arboreal cat, with extremely flexible joints, mottled spots for camouflage in the canopy, long tails and big ol eyes. Furthermore, they can hybridize with domestic cats [1] (though with fertility issues - but these aren’t exactly margays, so we can potentially do away with that). The original margay hybrid breed died out, however margay hybrids were absorbed into the Bengal - which is already a hybrid with Asian leopard cats. Fun (sarcasm).
(I do not endorse the breeding of further gen 1 hybrid cats - these animals and even offspring a gen or two down are far beyond the care of most potential owners. Bengals and their ilk are beautiful animals, but no more wild content should be added when populations of said wild cats are under threat. You don’t need a hybrid cat to be cool when you hardly play with a normal moggy. Rant over.)
The problem is that margays are really small - 4kg is a decently large male (for reference, my moggy runt Miss Thing weighs that much!), whereas NFC are 3 1/2 to 9kg. That’s… not going to go well - thankfully, cold climates tend to select for larger animals (better retention of body heat), so we could say these sorta-margays are larger than their IRL tropical counterparts and could hybridize with the local Parchwood cats.
This is unlikely to occur naturally, because cats do try to stick to breeding with individuals who will produce fertile offspring with them and the ‘living near the humans’ PFCs and ‘staying the fuck away from monsters by hiding in trees’ margay-ish cats will have little territorial overlap… however! We do have an IRL example of natural hybrids occurring often - this is the sad case of the decline of European wildcats [2]. Due to habitat loss and the abundance of domestic cats, they’re crossbreeding with these available mates, reducing the pure wildcat genetic content in surviving populations. Potentially something could have happened at some point in the past of these margay-cats; perhaps the expansion into the Parchwood that resulted in the Grey Hunt being established?
So now instead of ‘NFCs with the trademark filed off’, we have huge, fluffy, long-tailed, flexible-joined domestic cats with a fair amount of wild margay-ish content, adept both up in the trees and in homes - nice! Them filling the niche of an extremely rare margay-type cat is… a mixed bag for me as a biologist, but I’d hope the ecological damage would be minimal given the abundance of predators in the Parchwood as well as the fact they’re just doing what the local predator was. The decline/hybridization of the margay-cats would suck, though :c
I would guess they’d have fairly small litter sizes and longer growth periods, finishing growth around age two, though reaching sexual maturity fairly young as cats are wont to do. Between their hardy ability to survive the cold and likely brown-to-gold color, with stunning rosettes, I could see them being associated with Pelor - little suns on their fur, and let’s say they tend towards gold eyes too. Likely fairly independent, extremely high prey drive. These will be our Parchwood forest cats, fancier name pending. They might look something like a Cashmere Bengal, except huge and even fluffier:
That was the first option! What’s behind door number two?
Now, this is considerably less likely, given how small and isolated Whitestone is before Percy and Cassandra reclaim it and connect it to the broader world. There weren’t too many nobility in Whitestone at a given time (hence the original Wolfe de Rolo marrying his cousin Melanie, who murdered him). So the odds of there being a specific, fancy breed specifically kept by the upper class would be slim.
If there was, though, I love the idea of it being something like a German Rex:
I can’t find a link to the origin story that isn’t dead, but apparently the first cat was named Munk and bred liberally with the local females. They’re a short-haired breed, but more importantly their fur is wavy, and Munk was apparently an excellent fisherman (I loathe that I can’t include an English source - the Wikipedia article on the breed gives a decent summary to my understanding. Here’s a link for any German readers: [3]).
Given their German origins (and the fact Frumpkin takes the form of a shorthaired cat for Caleb, mimicking his childhood cat), we can guess that most cats in Wildemount are perfectly happy as shorthairs - potentially, these high-status cats in Whitestone could be descendants not of ship mousers but the beloved pets of the upper-class travelers. Or ones imported after Whitestone's founding, from family still in Wildemount.
Whitestone is cold as shit: to keep a cat with a coat like this comfortable year-round, you would need the resources to keep your home warm and comfortable, as well as providing food for it (whereas the local cats could hunt to supplement their diet). Moreover, the gene responsible for the wavy coat is recessive and likely rare in the population, so outbreedings with strays would be unlikely to produce kittens with the look. Less fur to shed might make them more appropriate a companion in the household, too - less likely to leave your lap in the winter, and not as much fur on all your expensive clothes.
Given that these would be kept by nobility, their coat colors would be heavily influenced by what their owners found pretty and worth breeding. I could see pale coats being desirable - unlike the PFC they do not need to worry about white fur giving away hunts in the summer, and white or gold fur could again bring to mind the gods. So potentially white, high-white bicolors and Siamese pointed dilute coats sounds about right. I could see them being very snuggly, social cats, given they're bred for companionship + would loathe the cold and want to stay warm by cuddling. Let’s call these the Alabaster rex. Named both for the mountains (the wavy fur even looks like hillsides! Cute!) and their pale color.
Keeping a cat, or cats, like this would be one hell of a status symbol in Whitestone due to all of the above. Sadly, given that coat, I’d suspect that most would have died out during the Briarwoods’ reign unless some community members were exceptionally devoted to keeping the cats alive. Some of these recessive wavy genes might exist among the PFCs, but reviving the breed would be exceptionally difficult. Especially given the original population would likely be ridiculously inbred to begin with (again, not many people could keep these cats).
SO, tldr; we have one big, fluffy landrace breed, our Parchwood forest cats, which have hybridized with local tree-climbing cats. And, potentially, some dainty, wavy-furred Alabaster rex in pale coats kept by the nobility (which, if they existed at all, might be extinct).
TBH, I can’t see Percy, Cass or Vex having much interest in keeping cats who rely so heavily on them, so though they might aid in reviving the breed (I bet they’d be popular in the Cloudtop district lmao), most of the cats in the castle and Grey Hunt manor would likely be of the PFC variety.
I’m not doing full proper citations for a funny post fuck that. BUT! Some further reading:

The titanic Choglaem
My response to this week's Bestiaryposting challenge from The Maniculum!
Unlike the other challenges, I didn't have a clear idea how this was going to look until I sat down to this - I was in a little bit of a rush,
It's a pen and ink drawing (dark sepia ink, and a sailor fude nib) over a very loose pencil sketch mostly to get the proportions right. I wanted to do more ink drawing because I figure it'll encourage me to learn, and there are a few spots where I managed to smudge the ink with my fingers, and the ventral scales look a little wonky (clearly I need to use more references!). If I'd had more time I might have drawn more scale detail, as snake scales are really cool, but I had fun and (hopefully) learned a bit! :D
Reasoning below the cut...
"The Choglaem is bigger than all other snakes or all other living things on earth." - large snek! This immediately made me think of Titanoboa (while cool, I'm not convinced bestiary writers would have been familiar with Palaeocene megafauna) and the fabled Sucuriju of the Amazon rainforest (a massively over-exagerated anaconda). I can't think of many creatures in nature or myth (apart from lions and rocs, respectively) that eat elephants, so this was going to be interesting...
"The Choglaem, it is said, is often drawn forth from caves into the open air, causing the air to become turbulent." - I wasn't sure how to represent this, and the other behaviour at the same time. Maybe I should have included some dramatic clouds or other atmospheric phenomena; I'm going to be interested to see how everyone else tackled this element!
"The Choglaem has a crest, a small mouth, and narrow blow-holes through which it breathes and puts forth its tongue." - For the crest, I felt I had two options; either something resembling the Naga of south east Asia, or spines like an oarfish - I went with the latter. I didn't want to give it a hood, since it notes below that this creature is non-venomous, and for the same reason I decided not to give it a cockerel's crest and wattle (associated with both the anecdotal crested cobra, and of course the cockatrice...)
We also have the tips of the snake's tongue poking out of its nostrils. As for the mouth, if it's going to be eating elephants (!) I'm not convinced the mouth can be that small, so I figured that from the front, with the jaws closed, it looks like it has a small, dainty mouth (at least until it opens it...!
"Its strength lies not in its teeth but in its tail, and it kills with a blow rather than a bite. It is free from poison. They say that it does not need poison to kill things, because it kills anything around which it wraps its tail." - Now if I was being smarter, I would have looked at the difference in anatomy between colubrid and non-colubrid snakes (including boas and pythons) - I'm way more familiar with colubrid snakes, having kept a garter snake years ago!
Reading this paragraph back, I missed that it seems to whack creatures with its tail; that would have been fun (KA-POW!), but it made sense to lean more towards the constrictor-side of things in terms of illustrating the hunting behaviour.
"From the Choglaem not even the elephant, with its huge size, is safe. For lurking on paths along which elephants are accustomed to pass, the Choglaem knots its tail around their legs and kills them by suffocation." - I figured we'd have some stylised trees on either side to represent the elephant trail, and a somewhat startled looking elephant starting to get knotted up...!
I also thought I'd try putting a simple border on the picture to frame it this time round (an idea that I've definitely stolen from a number of the other awesome participants in these challenges!).
I'm looking forward to seeing what this creature ends up being :)

Hunt!Michael
Hunt Michael
Appearance:
Michael’s face becomes more pointed and angular, his teeth become sharper particularly when it comes to his canines making them look like fangs. A mauve liquid drips from them when he is hunting or when he is focusing. Michael can lick it up with no problem, but for anyone else it is deadly.
His eyes are brown and narrowed, his pupils are black slits, and the whites of his eyes are amber. They are obscured by his high cheekbones which give him a more serpentine look.
His pale skin is cold to the touch, he doesn’t like to be too warm, being most comfortable in cooler temperatures. It’s oddly smooth, slippery, and wet, meaning he doesn’t tend to have any friction alongside others.
His hair is a bright golden colour, it has brightened exponentially since he became closer to the hunt. His curls are entwined with copper and red, as if his locks are bright like a poisonous animal.
Abilities:
Michael omits a venom from his teeth and nails which elongate into claws when his abilities grow stronger. It’s a mauve colour, and if someone else touches it it burns their skin. If it enters the blood stream or someone drinks it then it causes their heart to pump far too much blood into their body. It keeps going until their lungs fill with blood or their heart gives in.
Michael sees things in ultraviolet light and in more frames per second meaning he can move terrifyingly quickly.
His body is extremely long and bendy, his bones act as if they are not completely connected meaning his body is like a snakes or as if it is made of rubber. It means he can dodge very easily as well as suffocate people with his body like an anaconda or pounce on top of them to sink his teeth into their neck.
He can unhinge his jaw, making it so huge he can swallow human beings whole.
Origins:
Michael is unsure when his abilities started, what he does know is that ever since he was first hurt by the priest who touched him he has had the craving for blood. His skin itched and ached until the man who hurt his small adolescent body was dead beneath him, a bloody pulp. Slowly his methods of killing became simpler, and far easier to act on. However, when his body started to change, and he began omitting venom, he knew he needed to know why.
Since he could regain a human form unless his desires had been triggered, getting a job at the Magnus Institute seemed like the obvious thing to do. For a while it worked quite well, he was surrounded by information to do with his abilities and he figured out ways to deal with them. Gertrude was horrific, and Elias was suffocating, but spending time with Gerard and the work itself made it worth it.
Of course it didn’t take long for the urge to kill to rear its ugly head. This time of course, there were two obvious targets, two obvious prey that the Hunt could play with. Gertrude, the woman who bullied and tormented Michael mercilessly, and Jurgen Leitner, the man in the tunnels who had caused Gerard so much agony.
The tunnels were quite a remarkable place to hide after this, he could use them to get to Gerard’s flat, and even though they were pitch black he could see through them perfectly. Plus it helped him meet his next target: John Sims.

Megalodon Met the Biggest Snake : Once upon a time, there were two enormous creatures that ruled the ancient world. There was Megalodon, a gigantic shark from long ago, and Titanoboa, a massive snake. These incredible animals were incredibly fascinating because of their huge size and strength. Now, let's imagine what might have happened if these incredible beings ever met and fought each other. Megalodon Met The Biggest Snake 5. Speed And Agility Speed And Agility Megalodon was known for its impressive swimming speed, reaching about 16 feet per second, which allowed it to effectively pursue its prey. However, compared to other fast animals, Megalodon's speed was not exceptional. On the other hand, Titanoboa, although not very quick on land, displayed agility in the water, reaching speeds of up to 12 miles per hour. Its ability to swiftly maneuver and change direction gave it an advantage over Megalodon in terms of speed and agility. So, in this aspect, Titanoboa takes the lead. 4. Size And Weight c Megalodon was an enormous shark, measuring about 50 feet long and weighing between 27 and 59 tons. It was the largest shark ever known, even larger than today's whale sharks. On the other hand, Titanoboa, the largest snake ever discovered, could reach up to 42 feet in length and weighed around 2,500 pounds. While Titanoboa was impressive, it was much smaller compared to the colossal size of Megalodon. In terms of size and weight, Megalodon was the clear winner. 3. Fighting Skills Fighting Skills Megalodon was an intelligent and adaptable predator, which made it a formidable hunter. It had specific tactics for hunting, targeting vital parts of its prey to quickly disable them. With its powerful bite and the ability to deliver bone-crushing ram attacks, Megalodon possessed incredible strength and could take on even the largest marine creatures. On the other hand, Titanoboa relied on its constricting abilities, similar to modern-day anacondas and boa constrictors. By using its muscular strength to immobilize its prey, Titanoboa was skilled at wearing down its victims. Both creatures exhibited impressive fighting skills, resulting in a tie in this category. 2. Fighting Tools Fighting Tools Megalodon had an impressive weapon in its arsenal: its enormous jaws equipped with rows of seven-inch-long teeth. With one of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom, Megalodon could effortlessly penetrate the thick skin of large marine mammals. In contrast, Titanoboa had thin and pointed teeth that acted like hooks to secure its prey. While Titanoboa lacked the sheer size and power of Megalodon's jaws, it made up for it with agility and speed. In terms of weaponry, Megalodon had the advantage due to its immense bite force and deadly teeth. 1. The Ultimate Showdown The Ultimate Showdown In the hypothetical encounter between Megalodon and Titanoboa, the advantage goes to Megalodon as it enters the swampy waters off the Colombian coast. Although Megalodon may be slower in shallow water, its larger size and greater power give it a clear edge. Titanoboa's attempts to attack are hindered by Megalodon's thick skin, and its shorter teeth are unable to cause significant harm. Eventually, Megalodon seizes an opportunity and delivers a devastating bite, bringing the battle to an end. Conclusion The hypothetical clash between Megalodon and Titanoboa emphasizes the remarkable characteristics of these ancient creatures. Megalodon's immense size, strength, and formidable weapons provide a clear advantage over Titanoboa. However, Titanoboa's agility, speed, and distinctive fighting tactics demonstrate its ability to put up a strong fight. In the end, the outcome of this epic encounter leans towards Megalodon, the undisputed ruler of the ancient oceans. Also Read: 13 Animals With The Strongest Bite Source Image : discord.com

@penguinloki @dabblingreturns
I got super lucky and ended up at the penguin habitat RIGHT at feeding time so they were all out and about!!
@trambrosia
these were some VERY orange flamingos..... also these pics turned out to dramatic but I stand by them. for the vibes!! i did not get close enough to look up their noses, which is probably for the best but I AM curious about what I may have seen
@lady-harrowhark @princessw0lf @trickstercheshi
ok so i didnt see seals OR otters, but they did have sea lions which in a way are like is you combined a seal and an otter. to me. they were very cute and goofy and I too look like this when i am lying in the sun!!
@trickstercheshi
SNAKES there were many snakes. I am actually always kind of sad when I see snake habitats in zoos and museums because I feel like snakes are really lagging behind other creatures in terms of like.... standards we set for animal husbandry? maybe because i HAVE snakes but like there were so many HUGE snakes there that didn't even have a habitat they could fully stretch out in, a lot of cohabbing which I think is usually not advised, etc. like one single tiger has a WHOLE mountain to themself but the green anaconda had a tank that was probably only a little bigger than my bed :( but they were verh cool to see especially the venomous snakes that you dont often see at reptile shows/etc
@incoherentbee
I did not see a bug exhibit but I DID get approximately 7 bug bites on my leg so there were definitely bugs around..... something something blood sacrifice? :D

I typed this out for discord but i’m going to drop it here too, because its 734 words in length. help /lh
You get a semi-formatted infodump, because i’m taking my time with this anyways aklfjskdjf :>
Basilisk lizards can run on water! They live in rainforests, by the water. If they see a predator, like a snake or bird, trying to ambush them, then they jump out of their tree, and when they hit the water they start running. their feet are webbed in a way that allows them to run 15 feet before they start swimming. their tail helps them balance.
Chinese water dragons have really fucking long tails. Like ⅔ of them is tail. It also lives near water, but instead of running on the water, it goes underneath it and hides. It can hold it’s breath for up to 25 minutes, and it swims fast enough to catch fish! Kind of like tUATARAS *gets shot* , they have a ‘third eye’ on the top of their head that detects light levels! excerpt from book, "this ability helps its body tune in to the rhythm of day and night and also to adjust its body temperature."
Despite my tumblr url i am actually pretty normal(/g) about lizards compared to.. SNKAESKES!!?!?!!?!!
LOVE THEM. THEY ARE NOODLES THEY ARE DANGER NOODLES. SOME OF THEM CAN KILL YOU BUT THEY ARE *SO COOL*.
The world’s longest (not biggest-) snake is the Reticulated Python, the longest one found being 32 feet and 10 inches in length! Hatchlings are born at an astounding-for-a-baby-danger-noodle 2 FEET LONG!!! They start off eating birds and small rodents but graduate to eating animals as large as *DEER* when they are full grown. Holy shit akfjslkdjfaslkfj??
Burmese pythons are interesting for a different reason. They are endangered in their native areas in South/Southeast Asia, but they are thriving in a place they aren’t supposed to be; Florida. Nobody knows how they got there, but there is an estimated population of 30,000 to 100,000 snakes. smh
BALL PYTHONS. THE BEST DANGER NOODLE (IN MY VERY HUMBLE NOT BIASED OPINION). Instead of coiling up in the Traditional Snake Pose™ they curl up into a ball with their head in the middle. The ball is so tight that it can be rolled around and the little snek won’t get hurt! they normally hang out in their burrows, however. They hunt at night and are an Ally with the farmers bc they eat rodents. yay!
OHOHOHOHO. GREEN ANACONDAS. THE MECHA DANGER NOODLE. THE LARGEST SNAKE (not as long as reticulated pythons but they are heavier). They can weigh as much as 550 pounds, which is half the size of a horse. Woah. females are bigger than males (gaslight gatekeep girlboss) and they are cool idk. I don’t actually care about them very much but their huge so i am legally obligated to mention them. fdjklfajdfakfdjaklfja;lfjalkdfjalfjlakfj;fj;afj
(theres a whole section on turtples and another on crocidlse that i do not feel like looking at rn maybe later)
*EVIL LAUGHTER*
***TUATARAS!!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!!***
THESE FUCKERS. I LOVE THEM. I AM SO PASSIONATE ABOUT THESE LIZARD-NOT-LIZARDS I COULD LITERALLY IMPLODE RIGHT NOW, i’m gonna repeat some information just so you know bljdkfjalkfbadba. They descended from an entirely different line of reptiles than lizards/snakes did, and they're the only ones left. The final reptile!!! *duna da na. Dada da da daaaa!!!!!* /j
It’s third eye is actually to detect light levels. Adult tuataras eat baby tuataras, that’s right they’re stupid idiot cannabils /aff
They take up to 35 years to reach full size and can’t reproduce until they are 10 or 20 years old. Eggs take 2 years to develop in the females body and after laying they take 16 months to hatch. The reason they are so chill is because they are adapted to New Zealands low temperatures, remaining active at much lower temperatures than other reptiles. They almost went extinct because of rats, but they have recovered fully now!
They chew their food in a weird way, moving their lower jaw back and forth and cutting the food like scissors. Also sometimes they’ll find a seabird’s burrow and move in, even if they are currently living in the burrow. They’ll eat the eggs/chicks too. They literally just say “fuck you I live here now” and there’s nothing they can do about it its so funny akfjasfk.
The name Tuatara comes from the language of the Maori of New Zealand. It means spiny back’.
#got this all from one book so don't take this as 100% tact#reptiles#snake#snakes#lizards#lizard#tuatara#tuataras#tuatara content for the soul#wiz loves reptiles#again i am so sorry i am very passionate about this and it shows

Cryptober day 6: Kasai Rex
In one day of 1932, the experienced Swedish hunter, John Johnson (sometimes called Johanson) wanted to hunt a huge elephant, so he and his servant left their camp in Capetown. They crossed a swamp until finally reaching the savanna, in the Kasai valley, which seemed desolate, as there were no animals anywhere. That was until the servant yelled in excitement when he saw two elephants, so Johnson got his shotgun ready, but something was wrong with them. There were only two, instead of an entire herd.
About 44 meters away, there was something in the underbrush stalking the elephants. And suddenly, this something, a strange creature, jumped. The servant dropped into the undergrowth, while, Johnson paralyzed, changed aim, and decided to shoot this strange creature. He shot the creature three times, and only one shot hit it, hitting it in the back. The creature backed away, and left. Johnson got his servant up from the ground, and decided to go back to his camp in Capetown, but first, they had to cross the swamp. When they were halfway the swamp, they heard a splash, thought of crocodiles, Johnson looked everywhere. Until they saw 22 meters away the same creature that they saw in the savanna, tearing the hump of a rhinoceros, and that with one bite, tore one of rhinoceros' legs off. Johnson's servant ran terrified, while John stayed there.
BUY FROM FANATICAL
He immediately thought of shooting the creature, but remembered terrified that the servant had taken his shotgun. But he still had his camera, so he took a photo of the creature, which upon hearing the click, sank quickly into the lake, while the rhinoceros' body floated in a pool of blood.
Upon returning to camp, John walked shivering and shaking the camera, collapsed, and the men in there picked him up. "It was reddish in color, with blackish-colored stripes," he said in his interview with the newspaper Rhodesia Herald. "It had a long snout and numerous teeth." He decided that the creature, 13 m (43 ft) long, was a Tyrannosaurus, and also said "The legs were thick; it reminded me of a lion, built for speed". At the beginning of the year 1933, a group made up of five hunters (among them a renowned ivory trader), went to the Kasai Valley to hunt the creature called Kasai Rex by the newspaper Rhodesia Herald, which they thought was a crocodile giant, and that they would hunt to sell their skin at a good price.
They arrived in the Kasai Valley, and passed through the same swamp where Johnson had passed the previous year. One of the hunters was frightened to see a reddish tail sink into the lake, they thought it was an anaconda, until the atmosphere became tense. They readied their weapons, but were surprised by a wave of water that fell on them from the left side. The reddish tail had left the marsh violently, and hit one of the hunters, who fell into the water.
The other four began to shoot a reddish mass that submerged, they saw nothing, only waves of water that dispersed throughout the surface. The fallen man, with a broken arm, got up and tried to reach his companions. There was a roar from under the water, they moved as fast as possible, but their path was hindered by a giant creature that came out on the right side, and that was submerged on the left side. The hunters had hidden themselves in a rock, and in the end they left there.

Naga Bakugo x Reader P1
Hi, guys! I decided to write something very cute and fun, to begin with. Later parts of this may have more adult content besides just a bit of swearing, but for now, it’s safe for everyone. I would love to dedicate this to my dear friend @strawberryandspiceandchocolate because Spice is such an amazing friend and, without them, I feel like this story would not have been born. This was definitely written with Spice in mind. Thank you, dear! Let me know how I did for my first time writing Bakugo! I’ll definitely write more if you all love it! His quirk will also make an appearance in later parts if I continue to write more parts. @monst I still have your question for Bakugo on my main blog and will notify you of the next part when it comes!
Pairing: Bakugo (Naga) x Reader
Warnings: Just cuteness, some swearing
The rain forest humidity was high as usual and causing your hair to frizz and volumize. You sighed heavily in a bit of irritation. After a few weeks of enduring this continuously and no further progression of your research in cryptozoology, the irritation was thoroughly justified. You released a deep sigh and slowly lowered yourself onto the closest tree root after checking for crawlies and critters. Pulling your notebook from your backpack, you stood once again and started reviewing folklore from the villagers.
You continued forward, mind lost and pondering over your notes. Your legs brushed against foliage and your feet caught on a few snags every now and then, causing you to stumble slightly, but nothing major that required your eyes tearing from the paper in front of you. Suddenly your breath was knocked out of you as you tumbled over something particularly large…and cold? You glanced at your spiral notebook, a few feet away, and then down at the gigantic cylindrical object, you had tumbled on. And it was covered in breathtaking, iridescent green scales and silver underbelly?
Your face paled as you drew the horrifying conclusion. THAT was a HUGE snake! Its tail was far larger than any anaconda belly marks you had seen before. “Oi, you damn nerd! Watch where you’re going! Touch my tail again and I’ll light your ass up like a damn firework on the fourth of July!” You were pale as a sheet as your mind caught up with the voice and muscular movements beneath you. “I-I’m sorry! Y-your tail!?”
“Yeah, my tail, idiot.” You looked for the moving voice before the tail began to draw you slowly and tightly into its coils as they turned you upside down and held you. Your eyes landed on a spikey ash-haired blonde with red glimmering eyes, slightly tanned skin, and a slim muscular build that faded into part of the gigantic tail you had taken your tumble over. “Y-you’re a-a…” You stumbled over your words terribly.
The blonde male seemed to grow more aggravated and gave you a small shake with his tail. “Is “naga” the word you are looking for, nerd?” You nodded fiercely. He calmed slightly and narrowed his crimson eyes. “Sssoo, what exactly are you doing this far out? Did you get yourself lost? What’s so interesting in that notebook of yours?” You cleared your throat before you even attempted to answer him and tried to calm yourself.
“I’m a researcher. I study cryptozoology and I collected notes and stories from the villagers around here.” Maybe he wouldn’t eat you if he was interested in the conversation you held with him. He was extremely shiny, so maybe he had just shed. “So, did you come here to hunt me? You’re in for a whole lot of pain if you did.” He bared his teeth in a sharp sneer, even his eyes mocking you.
“No, no! I promise! I didn’t! I mean, I was looking for evidence, but I definitely wasn’t going to attempt to harm you or anything!” His eyes suddenly weren’t boring into yours anymore and he slowly turned you right-side-up again. The blood rushing away from your head made you extremely lightheaded and you were glad his coils held you at the time. “You ok, nerd?” You nodded very sluggishly. His coils loosened gently, enough to let your arms out to rest on the vibrant tail that held you.
A suddenly loud growl caught the both of you off guard. “Ugh…” the male groaned softly. “So damn hungry.” You began to panic again and started to flail before he tightened his coils again. “Hey! Chill! I won’t eat you! Unlike normal snakes, we try to avoid you guys at all costs. Now…a nice juicy monkey or something and we’re talking an amazing meal.” You could practically see his eyes glittering ecstatically and his fangs starting to push to the front of his mouth in the space for his canines.
“Well, I don’t know about helping you hunt…but I do have some lunch, and I don’t mind sharing if you’ll answer some questions for me.” He smiled at you brightly, and you nearly choked on your breath. “Human food works, too. You’ve got a deal, nerd. And ONLY because I just shed, got it!? I’m still really tired and hunting takes so much energy.” You nodded quickly in compliance. Best not to try to argue with him.
----
That is how you ended up having lunch with a very special naga. You were sat carefully on his coils with him lounged lazily on his stomach, both eating slowly. “So, can I ask you some questions, please?” His eyes moved from the chicken he was eating and onto you. “Sure. That was the deal.” You grabbed your notebook and pencil quickly. “So, what’s your name?”
“Bakugo Katsuki.”
“Katsuki…What type of naga are you if there are types?”
“Hmm, I guess the closest normal relative I have would be an eyelash viper. Like our normal cousins, we’re venomous and non-venomous, as well.”
You were happily scribbling notes from the answers he gave you when you caught him still watching softly. “Is it really that interesting for you to meet someone like me?”
“Of course it is! I mean, I could go off on an entire tangent about how cryptozoologists think things exist and some of them possibly really don’t, but I’ve actually freaking met you! Do you know how COOL you are!?” Katsuki’s cheeks began to burn and turn a vibrant red. “You’re weird, nerd…Thanks…You’re kind of cute all absorbed in your work like that. And don’t go posting any of this on the internet or some crap! This stays just between us!”
“Of course.” You laughed. “Do you do the tongue thing like normal snakes do to smell?”
“Have I done that at all since you started talking to me!? The hell!? I can smell just fine without the blllehhleehhlehh thing!” You nearly died in laughter. It was a nice start to a very special friendship.

Some mutated creatures for a Monster hunt
Mutated Giant Anaconda
Species Traits
Constrict (Ex): A giant anaconda deals 1d6+16 points of bludgeoning damage with a successful grapple check against a target at least one size category smaller than itself.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the giant anaconda must hit an opponent at least one size category smaller than itself with either a bite or a tail slap attack. If it gets a hold, it automatically deals bite or tail slap damage each round that the hold is maintained, and it can constrict in the same round and attempt to swallow in the next round. If the giant anaconda wishes, it can continue to attack with its tail or its bite (not both) while it grapples with its body, but it takes a –20 penalty on all grapple checks if it does so.
Mutations (Ex): Mutated Giant Anaconda have the Following Mutations
Achilles Heel: Rolls made to confirm critical hits against a Mutated Anaconda have a +4 Circumstance bonus
Acidic Saliva: The Mutated Anaconda's bite deals an additional 1d4 acid damage
Force Barrier3/day as a free action the Mutated Anaconda may create a force barrier a round itself that grants DR3/-- and persist for 5 rounds.
Living Furnace: The Mutant Anaconda's Bite, Tail Slap and Constrict Attacks deal an additional point of fire damage. +4 to Fort Saves to resist extreme heat
Major Psionic Talent; 3/day the Giant Anaconda can manifest Inflict Pain as a 6th level Telepath at no power point cost.
Radiation Resistance (Ex): Mutated Giant Anacondas treat radiation sources as two levels lower than normal.
Scent (Ex): This ability allows a giant anaconda to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell.
Skill Bonuses: A giant anaconda gains a +8 species bonus on Balance, Climb, and Swim checks and a +4 species bonus on Hide, Listen, and Spot checks.
Swallow Whole (Ex): If a giant anaconda begins its turn with an opponent one or more size categories smaller than itself held in its mouth, it can attempt a new grapple check as though trying to pin the opponent. If it succeeds, it swallows its opponent, automatically dealing bite damage. Once inside the giant anaconda, the opponent takes bludgeoning damage equal to the anaconda’s tail slap attack plus 1d6 points of acid damage per round from the monster’s stomach. A successful grapple check allows the swallowed creature to climb out of the stomach and return to the giant anaconda’s maw, where another successful grapple check is needed to get free. Alternatively, the swallowed creature can attack from inside the stomach using claws or a Small or Tiny slashing weapon. Dealing at least 30 points of damage to the stomach (Defense 18) in this way creates an opening large enough to permit escape. Once a single swallowed creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; thus, another swallowed creature must cut its own way out. A Huge giant anaconda’s stomach can hold 1 Large, 2 Medium-size, 8 Small, 32 Tiny, or 128 Diminutive or smaller opponents.
Mutated Giant Anaconda: CR 9; Huge animal (Mutated); HD 12d10+72; hp 114; Mas 23; Init +1; Spd 20 ft., climb 20 ft., swim 40 ft.; Defense 16, touch 9, flat-footed 15 (–2 size, +1 Dex, +7 natural); BAB +9; Grap +28; Atk +18 melee (1d6+11 plus 1, tail slap); Full Atk +18 melee (1d6+11 plus 1, tail slap) and +13 melee (2d6+5 plus 1d4 plus 1, bite); FS 15 ft. by 15 ft.; Reach 10 ft; SQ constrict (1d6+16 plus 1), Mutations, improved grab, Radiation resistance, low-light vision, scent, swallow whole; AL none; SV Fort +16, Ref +9, Will +5; AP 0; Rep +0; Str 32, Dex 13, Con 23, Int 1, Wis 12, Cha 2.

Mutated Tyrannosaur
Species Traits
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the tyrannosaur must hit an opponent two or more size categories smaller than itself with its bite attack. If it gets a hold, it shakes the grabbed opponent back and forth, automatically dealing bite damage each round. Once the opponent stops resisting, the tyrannosaur attempts to swallow on its next turn.
Mutations (Ex): Mutated Tyrannosaurs have the Following Mutations
Ability Decay (Charisma)

The Bolt will ignite combustible objects and burst through barriers.
Radiation Resistance (Ex): Mutated Tyrannosaurs treat radiation sources as two levels lower than normal.
Scent (Ex): This ability allows a tyrannosaur to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell.
Swallow Whole (Ex): If a tyrannosaur begins its turn with an opponent two or more size categories smaller than itself held in its mouth, it can attempt a new grapple check as though trying to pin the opponent. If it succeeds, it swallows its opponent, automatically dealing bite damage. Once inside the tyrannosaur, the opponent takes bludgeoning damage equal to the tyrannosaur’s bite attack plus 1d6 points of acid damage per round from the monster’s gizzard. A successful grapple check allows the swallowed creature to climb out of the gizzard and return to the tyrannosaur’s maw, where another successful grapple check is needed to get free. Alternatively, the swallowed creature can attack from inside the gizzard using claws or a Small or Tiny slashing weapon. Dealing at least 25 points of damage to the gizzard (Defense 20) in this way creates an opening large enough to permit escape. Once the creature exits, the tyrannosaur must make a successful Fortitude save (DC 20) or die, whether or not the full amount of damage was dealt with a single blow. A Huge tyrannosaur’s gizzard can hold 2 Medium-size, 8 Small, 32 Tiny, or 128 Diminutive or smaller opponents.
Mutated Tyrannosaur: CR 13; Huge animal (Mutated); HD 20d10+100; hp 210; Mas 24; Init +1; Spd 40 ft.; Defense 14, touch 9, flat-footed 13 (–2 size, +1 Dex, +5 natural); BAB +15; Grap +32; Atk +22 melee (4d6+13 plus 1d4, bite or 2d6+9 Claw); Full Atk +22 melee (4d6+9 plus 1d4, bite) and +17melee (2d6+4, 2 Claws); FS 10 ft. by 10 ft.; Reach 15 ft.; SQ: Mutations, improved grab, Radiation resistance, scent, swallow whole; AL none; SV Fort +19, Ref +13, Will +6; AP 0; Rep +0; Str 28, Dex 12, Con 21, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 8.
Skills: Listen +11, Spot +11.
Feats: None.
Advancement: 21–36 HD (Gargantuan); 37–54 HD (Colossal).

Wall Crawler: +4 species bonus to climb checks (+2 if hands and feet are covered) can climb smooth surfaces
Leaper: +10 Species bonus to Jump checks
Prehensile Tail: Grants the mutated Mapinguari a +2 mutation bonus on Balance checks. It can also grasp and manipulate a simple object of medium size or smaller. A prehensile tail cannot be used to operate a piece of equipment that requires opposable digits or fine motor control (such as a cell phone). The Mutated Mapinguari can hang from its prehensile tail indefinitely by wrapping it around a larger object, thereby freeing up its other limbs. The prehensile tail isn't dexterous or strong enough to fire ranged weapons or make melee attacks, however.
Radiation Resistance (Ex): Mutated mapinguari treat radiation sources as two levels lower than normal.
Scent (Ex): This ability allows a mapinguari to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell.

Plant: Monstrous flytraps have the traits and immunities common to plants.
Mutations (Ex): A Mutated Monstrous flytraps has the following mutations
Reduced Speed: A Mutated Monstrous Fly trap can not move as quickly as a regular one.
Major Psionic Talent: A Mutated Monstrous Fly trap can manifest Brain Lock once per day as an 1oth level Telepath
Tentacles: A Mutated monstrous Fly trap has two long tentacle like vines growing out of its sides, the Tentacles grant the Fly trap a +8 species bonus to grapple checks and can be used by the creature to hang from objects that can support its weight. The tentacles can be used to make slam attacks but, can not use ranged weapons or manipulate delicate objects
Smokescreen: Once per day, as a free action, the Fly trap can produce a 20-foot-radius cloud of smoke centered on itself. The cloud is stationary once created. The inky-black smoke obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature 5 feet away has half concealment (20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target). A moderate wind or current disperses the cloud in 4 rounds. A strong wind or current disperses the cloud in 1 round.
Radiation Resistance (Ex): Mutated mapinguari treat radiation sources as two levels lower than normal.
Improved Grab(Ex): To use this ability, a monstrous flytrap must hit with its bite attack. If it gets a hold, it can attempt to swallow its opponent (see below), provided its opponent is at least two size categories smaller than it.
Swallow Whole(Ex): A monstrous flytrap can swallow a grabbed opponent two size categories smaller than it by making a successful grapple check. The swallowed creature can attack the flytrap from inside its mouth using claws or a Small or Tiny slashing weapon. The flytrap does not release its opponent until it is slain or its swallowed prey is completely drained of blood (that is, dead). A monstrous flytrap's mouth can swallow only one opponent at a time and cannot attack while it drains a creature's blood.
Blood Drain (Ex): A creature swallowed by a monstrous flytrap takes 1d6+13 points of damage every round due to blood loss.
