Idk if y’all heard but last month, we reclassified the green anaconda into two separate species with a genetic difference of like, 5.5% (humans and chimps only have a 2% difference), so this was huge. And the snake they found that confirmed it? Found dead, and it’s going through the rumour mill that she was shot. I believe it, because she was in the prime of her life and set to live much longer without interference.

I am beyond frustrated and upset, not only that poachers and hunters find joy in killing for sport, but take advantage of publications that are meant for enrichment to hunt these animals. And the other thing is now the scientists who found her and reclassified the species are being blamed for her death. “They should have kept their mouths shut about it” shut the fuck up.
