This is the Buddy for February 26th. It's a Harry Potter thing. I'm a Hufflepuff.

I'll be honest, I never finished the Harry Potter series. I did start reading the last book (the deathly hallows one) but for some reason or another, I didn't finish it. I only know the end thanks to reading spoilers online.

Same thing happened with Star Wars, too - I watched the first part of Return of the Jedi at my grandparents' house one day, and didn't see the end of the story until a few years ago. One of those weird nerd things, I guess. People do think the last movie of the trilogy's the worst, anyway.

The one thing about Harry Potter people are into is the four houses aspects. It's fun to pick a house and have this sort of kinship with other people who share your choice, and to be able to tell people abut yourself through this common pop culture branding.

The four houses are kind of based on the four humors of ancient greek medicine, as popularized in obnoxious detail by Ben Johnson.

Gryffindor is Sanguine - they're sporty, brave and "good at everything" - and of course, the type of people who only exist in fiction, or in the minds of people who think real life works like fiction, and see themselves as heroes. But all attempts at mapping personalities usually has a "good guy" personality just in case.

Slytherin is Choleric - evil. Technically, bitter and angry, which does describe Draco Malfoy. And evil people in general are usually angry, right. Cholera, of course, is yellow bile. Have you ever noticed that, when you're angry, you feel heartburn? That's the bile rising. In Japan, there's even the idea that when someone is really angry, they need to throw up.

Ravenclaw is Phlegmatic - Nerds, pretty much. If all the brainiest students go to Ravenclaw, how come they don't win every house cup? Though the idea that intelligence is an innate personality trait is pretty unintelligent in itself. Phlegm, as we know, is snot. Nerds are always sniffling and complaining about allergies, right?

Hufflepuff is Melancholy - basically "the rest" of the personality group, for people who aren't strong, smart or angry enough for the other three. Melancholy is the worst of the personalities, the opposite of sanguine, having neither the intelligence of Phlegmatic nor the strength of Choleric. Melancholy is the black bile, which totally exists, and comes from the spleen. What else would the spleen do?

So, basically, Sanguine/Gryffindors are strong and smart, Choleric/Slytherins are strong and dumb, Phelgmatic/Ravenclaws are weak and smart, and Melancholy/Hufflepuffs are weak and dumb.

People choose their Hogwarts houses based on their personality, or rather, the personality they wish they had. Choosing Gryffindor means they have a hero complex, or see themselves as brave. Good thing they've never been in an actual emergency situation to see how they'd do, right? Slytherin is the edgelord house. They act like they're above simplistic morality and "know only the strong survive". Ironically, many Slytherin characters were born rich. Ravenclaws are proud of their nerdiness. That often just means reading a lot or being good at math, though. Not so much the scientific humility aspect of nerdiness. And Hufflepuffs are the ones who claim to reject the whole idea of the house system and take pride on being part of the "loser house", since it means they're refusing to put themselves in a box.

Makes sense that I'm a Hufflepuff now, right?

as mad of a scientist he is, and how mad he is in general, he wouldn’t take it. i feel like he would be one of those people that thinks life is a one time thing and that it should not be taken lightly. he is one to consume most of his time investing in his work, but he wouldn’t want to be immortal and do it all the time

he thinks the most important sense is touch. he is a very tactile person in general and naturally his work requires some handy work. but also he is a bit touch starved. with his parent’s abuse (mental and physical) he never allows himself to be close with anyone, unless things required him to be. he only wishes to be close with someone again, holding someone’s hand or seeing people hug - he craves that

Hogwarts House - Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff - i know, Hufflepuff? but think of it this way, he is very loyal to anyone he allows himself to be close to, he also can be very kind, especially to his neighbours, even if they perceive him as somewhat odd. Ravenclaw, because my boy is smart and he is incredibly intelligent. he does show off, but not enough to be in gryffindor (ye i said it) Star Trek - no matter which series or universe, he is in tactical or engineering. it made the most sense to me, again, incredibly intelligent and knows his way around the even the most difficult of situations Star Wars - A Rebel - not a jedi neither a sith, mostly because i don’t see him as perfectly good or bad, but neutral. he knows how to set different expectations depending on a mission, the difference between Gotham and Star Wars is that the alliance will actually listen to his ideas and crazier test runs

Vamos al diseño, chapa bajo corte:

A Dunk quería darle un aire de chavalillo desgarbado. En las novelas tiene unos 17 años y no da la sensación de alimentarse especialmente bien. Así que es alto, pero todavía esta "rellenándose" por decirlo de alguna manera. Igual con la cara, todavía se esta haciendo a sus rasgos. El Dunk de las novelas no es un gigachad (de momento).

La túnica de Dunk es un mezclum de los diseños de la Alta República con la paleta de colores de las precuelas. Cómo las novelillas ocurren en la decadencia de la dinastía de los Targaryen, me pareció adecuado ubicarlos en un momento parecido del universo de una Galaxia Muy Muy Lejana. En decadencia pero no del todo. La capa exterior parece un poco el uniforme de Hufflepuff 😅... pero Dunk y todos sus descendientes dan big-casa-del-tejón-vibes, así que no me importa mucho la verdad.

El sable de luz de Dunk lo he hecho genérico a más no poder. Casi todas las posesiones que tiene en las novelas han visto días mejores o no son de la mejor calidad, así que no le pega algo super fancy. Lo he hecho pequeño, por qué en mi head canon es el sable de su maestro. Dunk esta a punto de ser enviado a los cuerpos de agricultura ya que se le estaba pasando el arroz para ser elegido como padawan cuando el maestro Arlan lo escoge cómo aprendiz. Cuando este último muere durante una misión, por miedo a no encontrar otro maestro para completar su entrenamiento y ser enviado a los Agricorps, Dunk miente y dice que su maestro le nombró caballero antes de su muerte. (¿He robado el backstory de Legends de Obi-Wan? He robado el backstory de Legends de Obi-Wan. Gracias por Jude Watson por los bueno momentos y hacerme odiar a Qui-Gom Jinn).

Y ahora vamos a Egg. Mi niño. El único Targaryen que me importa. Basicamente por qué es el único que me cae bien. Y diréis: "se cargo indirectamente a toda su familia como Finwe 2.0 y su querido bisabuelo!!". Y yo diré: "sí, pero fue por una buena causa y no por ser un pichafloja!!11!". (Lo que quiero decir es que es mi problematic fave y le quiero).

La familia de Edgelords por excelencia TENÍAN que ser Sith. Además los colores de la casa Targaryen son los del lado oscuro, ES UNA SEÑAL.

Debatí mucho si hacer que Egg fuese un Togruta por razones evidentes (y por qué visualmente son una pasada). Pero entonces el nombre de Egg perdía todo su significado. Así que pensé que especies casi-humanas de Star Wars y aterricé en los kiffar. Cumplen el bingo a la perfección:

Aparencia cool? Sí

Habilidades poco comunes? Sí

Sangre especial? Sí

Personajes edgy que el fandom adora? Sí

Así que Kiffar se quedan (en este caso medio humano medio kiffar). Lleva el pelo cortado para ocultar que es parte de una dinastía de Siths muy conocida (vamos como en el canon). En vez de trencitas bolitas como los padawans que no tienen pelo. Ojitos rojos en vez de violetas ya que Sith. Los tatuajes faciales son rojos por lo mismo. La ropa de Egg esta basada en la de Anakin de la tercera película pero con una paleta de color más roja.

Los sables de luz son casi iguales al los del Conde Dooku, ya que la curvatura que tiene me encanta. Además los Targaryen tienen pinta de querer espadas diferentes a las del resto. Además intentado darles un aspecto un poco rústico haciendo que el mango de la espada sea de un material orgánico (¿hueso de dragón Krayt?) para marcar esa diferencia. Dos sables por qué Jar'Kai es el estilo que más me gusta y also padawan reasons.

Mi hc es que Dunk en su primera misión se aterriza por ""accidente"" (la Fuerza no intervino PARA NADA) en un planeta poco conocido del Borde Exterior. Corte a reunión de Siths. Corte a Dunk dando tumbos sin enterarse de nada. Corte a Dunk toma de aprendiz a la prole de un sith y sigue en la inopia. Corte a "oye Egg, este planeta tiene una energía muy ra... HAY GENTE LANZADO RAYOS???". Corte a OH NO. Corte a persecución. Corte a una celda. Corte a el papi de Egg les ayuda a escapar por que no quiere que su hijo crezca en el lado oscuro *insert drama sobre Dyanna y ser mejor persona*. Corte a viaje de vuelta incómodo a Corusant con nuevo padawan pensado en que decirle al Consejo.

Consejo: ¿Pero no te diste cuenta al ver sus ojos?

I've noticed that all the popular things I loved growing up all have something in common, like a glorified MBTI personality test that categorizes characters into different set boxes that everyone uses to identify with:

Warrior cats series: either you were Riverclan, Windclan, Thunderclan, or a Shadowclan type of cat person. Your role in the clan also had a lot to with it, too.

Star Wars is Jedi vs Sith vs Grey vs Clones vs Separatists vs rebels vs empire vs all these species and planets and whatever else there can possibly be. But even the Jedi have different type of jedi, and yes your lightsaber color matters.

Harry Potter and The good old Hogwarts Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Really the most iconic identity labelling of all your social media introductions.

Marvel's different types of superheroes, and growing up pretending to have powers, you would know that each power represents something different.

Avatar the Last Airbender: Water, Earth, Fire, Air... Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed, and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang, and although is airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. It would probably be quite a problem earning points for the house thanks to good deeds and outstanding participation in certain subjects, but losing a part of those points for not being able to put the problems aside

Shadowhunters AU

I think he would be a nephilim/demon hybrid like Tessa, but the dominance would be towards his angel blood side (at least at the beginning)

Sidious would be a demon or warlock that teaches him more about the other part of himself that the Jedi (in this case Shadowhunters) do not leave him due to the intolerance they have towards the underworld

Percy Jackson AU

Son of Hephaestus (or Legacy of Hephaestus son of another god) who was predicted to come in a Great Prophecy

Perhaps, like Luke Castellan, he would be tempted by an older force (Sidious, who would actually be a Titan or something like that) only to be saved by Luke in the end, thus fulfilling two different profeciss (The Chosen One who announced the arrival of Anakin and another that talked about his salvation starring Luke)

Teen Wolf AU

He would be a Chimera like Mason, he thought he was a born werewolf until the Dread Doctors (the Sith) started appearing to him and experimenting on him a bit.

There is also the possibility that he could be a Kitsune/Nogitsune like Kira/Void Stiles

Marvel AU

An Omega level mutant with power similar to that of Jean Gray in Dark Phoenix. Although of course he has a somewhat higher level of control over himself

DC AU

I think it would be a son of either Time or Night, the point is that it is a half brother of the Endless and has a slight control over them. More like getting them away from himself (avoiding the deeds in the book of Destiny, avoiding the gift of Death) or bringing their half brothers a little closer to certain humans (bringing Destruction and Despair to the Jedi or leading some people to be more driven by Desire)

That if, again, he can't prevent Death from sharing his gift with someone (such as avoiding Padme's death) or avoiding the fate of other people (the betrayal of Barris Offee that would end up driving away Ahsoka. Or the creation and enslavement of the clones)
