Nirvana in Fire Rewatch Episode Twelve
Events
MCS has a meeting with Zhao-lao-xiansheng. At the end Zhao mentions Lin Shu, though not by name, and MCS has emotions.
Nihuangs gallops up and questions MCS, eventually revealing him as Lin Shu. Many emotions are had by all.
MCS falls ill from too many emotions.
Jingyan runs into Shen Zhui while he's investigating some potential smuggling, but he doesn't know what substance yet.
The Jiangzuo Alliance representative at the docks, Zhao-dage, observes that there's an unusual amount of illegal gunpowder being smuggled.
Tong Lu traces the gunpowder to an illegal fireworks factory previously run by the Minister of Revenue for the CP.
We briefly meet Yan Que as he drops by his house and talks to Yujin.
The Empress falls ill, but it's not serious. Jing-pin sniffs her teacups.
Names and titles
"If Mei Changsu cannot deceive her, Lin Shu must persuade her."
The Viki subtitles insist that Nihuang is saying 'Sir Su', but she's not saying Su at all, just xiansheng.
Jing-pin says "Chen-fei-jiejie".
Lin Shu used to be called xiao-huaren, which the subtitles translate as Little Fireball, though I don't know why fireball rather than fire anything else.
Lin Shu refers to "Dong-jie" and "Jingyan" to Nihuang; Nihuang refers to "Jing-wang". I'm beginning to think that she and Jingyan were never on given name terms.
Yujin calls his father 'die' - fairly standard but someone might want to know for fic.
Characters
Being Lin Shu puts a strain on MCS and Li Gang knows it.
MCS didn't expect Nihuang to be the first to find out.
Past Nihuang has seen Lin Shu's exposed collarbone, which is risque by these standards.
Lin Shu used to rescue Nihuang from trouble.
Yan Que is accompanied by a servant with a fuchen.
Yan Que does alchemy, or at least Yujin thinks he does.
Banruo correctly identifies that Fei Liu is MCS's soft spot.
The oldest Noble Consort is Xu-guifei; there's also a Yuan-guifei.
The dock worker Zhao and Gong Yu know each other, and Gong Yu calls him Zhao-dage.
Costumes
I hate Nihuang's pink lipstick. It can't be historically accurate.
Past Nihuang wore a similar headdress but had braids in the long loose part of her hair.
When confined to bed, MCS ties his hair back with a white ribbon. Fei Liu is wearing a pale blue ribbon as well as a metal hair ornament.
Time
It's the middle of winter.
MCS is confined to bed for a few days
Place
Jinling is on a canal.
The spot where MCS talked with Zhao-lao-xiansheng and later had his revelation scene with Nihuang is very close to Lingyi Temple

So, hey guys...i'm back!
I've spent the year getting my partner and his best friend moved up to where I have been taking care of my dad. Now we're all back together. Best friend loves the cold weather, partner loves working from home. We walk to the grocery store every afternoon to buy groceries. Dad is much happier living on his own again. Life is good.
My partner also fixed me up with a new desktop setup and it is so nice. Look forward to much better screenshots.
Blog things! Things are back in the queue! Only 1 a day until I get it built up again. But don't worry, there is so much stuff out there for me to share.
I'm also getting back to my legacy, whether that's in the form of continuing Huaren 2 or moving on to Huaren 3. I want to show ya'll more shots of the random bits of non Asian themed sets that you can use with the right recolors.
Thanks for being here to come back to, simblr. You're the best.

there’s a distinct difference between the idea of a diasporic chinese person using huaren as shorthand & the use of “huaxia” specifically in xrjz’s book — while the former term’s connection can absolutely be considered questionable it’s kind of grown into use by people of any ethnic group with that connection to china. and you have to remember this whole idea that non-han means “not Real chinese” in its modern sense was conceptualized and spread by meiji era occupation. while racial tensions between china’s over fifty ethnic groups exists no bones about it they are still of course legally recognized as chinese over there — and it’s not like anyone outside of china , where 华人’s use is in reference to people living in, gives a shit about which specific one you are if they’re just out to call you slurs or say you eat dog 🤷 ultimately the distinction just matters a lot Less outside of there where the country you’re from comes first and the specifics is second
however the connection to hua specifically via using the historical term of huaxia is infinitely more fucked, especially when this is supposedly a fantasy world that only happens to resemble “ancient china” AS PROCLAIMED by the author themself. there’s a lot that’s being said here and none of it is super awesome especially where fantasy huaxia is where the whole thing is taking place. why did you decide that this separate world is going to develop this xenophobia parallel to real life ? it’s completely fucking unnecessary especially when your protagonist clearly doesn’t bother holding the sexist views of the time… only the racist ones

Partia była niegdyś największą partią reprezentującą społeczność chińską w Malezji i szczególnie dominowała we wczesnym okresie, aż do późnych lat sześćdziesiątych.

¿Qué significa 华人 (huárén)?
X 籍 jí - significa X nacionalidad.
