“Well, maybe all of us are? This feels pretty different from counseling I was sent to for getting into fights with bullies like Max…”

He’s watching the group’s reactions as he speaks. Mr. Olson is deliberately trying not to show emotion, but Galaxy catches the disappointment.

“Uh, that was more than a year ago. Not why I’m here now.”

Rhys and Ryanne seem to be holding back laughter. Not maliciously though. Maybe an inside joke? Galaxy wants that. It seems like half these kids already know and like each other. Why did he jump in first?

But his anxiety doesn’t get too far because he notices no one here seems to be judging him. They’re just waiting for him to continue.

“I don’t regret founding this school in the slightest. I’m so proud that me and my friends carved out a world where it’s safe to be queer, disabled, neurodivergent or just plain weird!”

He’s standing up now, realizing he’s gone into one of his inspirational speeches. He sits back down.

“I’m extremely committed to helping and protecting my friends, especially those with no where else to go. It’s my entire life. And I get frustrated that even my friends who share my vision only help with a fraction of what I’m doing.”

Blair nods, but it’s unclear weather they relate or they’re just being encouraging.

Galaxy can normally read others very well. Not today, or at least not with these people.

Or maybe he’s just to amped up to listen right now. He relaxes and smiles as he continues.

“When I told Mia I felt like the only one doing anything, she rightfully got annoyed with me.”

Light laughter. Good.

“She started listing out all the things she’d done for the school, and honestly it was a lot. I forgot how many crisis we’ve all solved together. I’ve put everyone close to me through a lot.”

“I guess I’m here to work on that. Having reasonable expectations for people”

Oh no! What a terrible start! Most of these MCs need to learn to ask for help and rely on their friends more, and here Galaxy is with the “opposite” problem reinforcing their fears.

What kinda music are your mc's into?

Honestly I haven't fully thought about this much for most of my MCs lol. But here's what I got so far

Evie: Kinda likes a broad range of music, from pop songs to movie + video game soundtracks to electronic/techno music. She's especially a fan of anything that sounds really majestic, like James Bond songs, Super Mario Galaxy soundtracks, The Matrix soundtrack, etc. Also, an incomplete list of songs I associate with Aidevie.

Alan: Mostly pop, and anything that can be branded as "cunty" music or "diva music"

Cher: Has an affinity for upbeat regency music and "catwalk" music

Jo: Likes stuff like heavy metal, rock, punk, techno/EDM, etc. But is really into anything that isn't trying to be overly sappy or some deep emotional piece

Harper Addison: She likes to play light, soft, gentle tunes on her guitar and that also tends to be their favorite kind of music to listen to

Bonus: headcanons for some of my newest OG HSS MCs that I haven't done playthroughs for yet or fleshed out very much but I think are relevant to this queston

Katie: Rock music, especially 80s rock. She has great experience with playing the guitar. I also headcanon a scene for homecoming where, because she chose the "Under the Sea" theme and the live band as the music, she arranges to join the band for a moment in order to sing+play "Johnny B. Goode". If you know what I'm getting at hehe

Giovanna: Okay so I haven't completely figured out her exact music tastes, but I do know that at the start of her story, she isn't fond of the saxophone. But in choosing marching band as her activity, she decides to give it a try and soon develops a taste for it.

Sewing

As a little kid, Galaxy always found it soothing to pull on threads and undo stitches. Sometimes it was absentmindedly and automatically. Other times he was stressed, and he didn’t know why he did it, but knew exactly what he was doing. It was very systematic. Following the pattern of the fabric. The pretty unraveling was so much better to focus on than whatever was bothering him!

So basically he was destroying stuff all the time, and his parents and teachers would be like “why” and “how could you” and “didn’t i already tell you not to” and “what were you thinking”

He never had the answers to those questions. And he felt bad after the fact, but at this point he couldn’t even recognize an impulse, much less resist them.

So one day his mom finds him “fixing” the bedsheets. Groups of long threads on each side of a rip are tied in knots. Smaller holes near each other are threaded together with paper chips. He’s stapling the rest together.

It’s frustrating that he keeps doing this but his mom is really moved by how hard he’s trying to make it right. Should this kid be trusted with a needle? Probably not, but what he’s now doing is more dangerous. She teaches him to sew.

It’s so good for him. To make instead of destroy. To have something to do with his hands. Exactly what he needed.

And as a teen, he always remembers this! Both the actual skill his mom taught, and her patience with him. When he feels too strongly, he looks for something to do, to help, to create, to fix.

In this sequel it takes on the story of the DLC story khoas reigns. When titan havik takes MK galaxy Shelby jumps into the portal to save him. However,she didn’t realize how big haviks army was and got overwhelmed..once she was captured,havik pumped her full of his chaos magic,it ended up merging Shelbys and HSs bodies and consciousness together and made her into an powerful being of darkness. However he had infected her brain with this magic. So when havik arrives in his realm and welcomes her search party,which include some people from the MK 1 shatter space and the gang. They have to fight thier corrupted family..the good news is that when they are able to tire and knock her out,lui kangaroo is able to restore her mind,and that’s all I’ll spoil for now~

So Choices uses CEO as a key word a lot, which is interesting but unsurprising because I grew up on Harelquin romance novels and the sexy CEO is a staple of the genre. Although, only one of the books that use CEO is a selling point is a single LI novel, but that’s nothing new (those LIs also get cover preference) and a few other books hint at one specific LI in their key words as well.

The teen MC books seem to be split as to whether they are marked “high school” or not, with the high school books and It Lives having that distinction, but not books like ROD, MTFL or WEH which focus less on high school life and more on the MC.

My last note is that they use mystery as a key word as often as romance, which I did find interesting and makes me hopeful that the genre does well and we will see more mystery based books.

In honor of Star Wars day, I’m sharing some of my favorite fictional space ships (besides the Millennium Falcon). 

Wayfarer, from The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet: the quintessential tried-but-true ship hurtling through space with its motley crew inside. Wayfarer offers a warm, chaotic welcome to both new crew members like accountant-with-a-past Rosemary, and the readers following along. But life on wormhole tunneler headed into distant space isn’t exactly safe. 

Lovecraft, from A Closed and Common Orbit: the follow-up to The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet approaches space ships a little differently, and offers a thoughtful and fascinating look at what happens when a ship’s AI becomes detached from the ship in question. 

Arde Mayhew’s RG 132, from The Warrior’s Apprentice: We first meet this ship when its drunken, depressed pilot initiates an armed standoff to save it from the scrapheap. The ship becomes the catalyst for fast-talking MIles Vorkosigan’s certifiably nuts get-rich-quick scheme, and subsequent adventures in accidental space mercenary-ing. The RG 132 takes damage that means it will never wormhole jump again without rare, obsolete technology. I’m just a sucker for a quest. 

Breq, from the Imperial Radch trilogy: Not actually a spaceship. Not anymore. Once she was the Justice of Toren. Now she’s just a normal sentient being adjusting to her fragile body, and determined to get some answers. And some...well, justice.  

The Rocinante, The Expanse series: a Martian gunship turned unlikely home base for an even more unlikely band of heroes, the Roci is named after Don Quixote’s horse and finds itself at the heart of a variety of missions, debacles, and stunning discoveries. I think in real practical terms, the cutting-edge yet homey Rocinante might be the best way to travel around having galactic adventures. 

Heart of Gold, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books: Look, there is simply no way to resist a ship-cum-narrative-device that runs on an Infinite Improbability Drive and was assembled by easily bored engineers. It has a literal heart of gold. 

The HSS Matilda, from An Unkindness of Ghosts: The Matilda is not a fun place to be. It’s a generation ship divided strictly by caste and ruled by unforgiving laws, with some passengers living in luxury and others subjected to ever more depredations and indignities. But through the eyes of Aster, with her unique perspective and unusual mobility around the ship, its beauties, dangers, and mysteries come fully to life. 

The Sparrow, from The Sparrow: I was utterly struck by the image of a spaceship hollowed out from an asteroid. The Sparrow imagines a ship that is not next century’s technology, but tomorrow’s, the product of the Vatican’s quiet efforts to make first contact with “God’s other children,” carrying a crew of priests and scientists, and some classic rock. 

The Hephaestus: okay, this one’s cheating. It’s a space station, not a ship, and it’s from the podcast Wolf 359, not a book. Quirky, accident-prone, enigmatic, and far too large for its skeleton crew, the Hephaestus is as much a character as a setting, although it’s anyone’s guess whether it’s a benign one. It’s also run by Hera, AI queen of my heart, although not even she knows all of the station’s secrets.

Nebula -> they order something different every time. And they make very creative combinations of flavors and textures that should not work, and horrify their friends until you try it and it’s amazing.

Galaxy -> usually waffles with some kind of berry and powdered sugar. Sometimes he gets a side of hashbrowns too, but he won’t order a meal that comes with meat cause he’s a vegetarian.

Persephone -> chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries and bananas. WITH. extra whippy cream. and strawberry syrup. drink of hot chocolate when its cold out, chocolate milk when its not

Jude -> 4x4 deluxe burger, animal style, with fried mushrooms. side of onion rings, also animal style. drink of root beer

A: I’ve played HSS and when the HM was released I had to come up something cool name it was supposed to be Arya Snow , but I remembered my old mc’s name in HSS and also Voltron series the name of the school was Galaxy Garrison so that’s how I come up with ,my mc’s name Allison Garrison

How did you come up with your MC and Jacob’s backstory (family, where they’re from, their relationship with each other, etc.)?

A: IDK it came to me hard to explain Jacob and Allison’s relationship is base on Arya and Jon’s

3. How did you come up with your version of Jacob? 

A: It was base Tom Riddle’s handsome appearance before he became dark lord of all Same thing with Felix without hair products , it’s like Tom Riddle’s doppelgangers.

4. How does your MC cope with everything they’ve endured with Jacob, R, and the Vaults?

A: not good all she wants was to let out all her anger and stress by destroying things before casting reparo that’s how she copes .

A: again not good he blamed himself for it and he said if he can go back in time, he would undo everything just to save Ducan.
