I know this is a rhetorical question but...

Obviously Twinkle Town is about two theatre rivals duking it out (Bop to the Top), only to discover that they were each other’s soulmates all along (What I've been looking for) and then breaking free of expectations and getting together (Breaking Free).

What was the musical in High School Musical, Twinkle Town, even about? Like Bop to the Top, what I’ve been looking for, and breaking free? I can’t tell what the show was actually about!

Damn this was a hard one. Childe is such a showboater that I feel if he's even just a little confident in something then he'll share it because why wouldn't you?

My first thought was singing (ignoring the official arts and stuff). I feel like in public he "guy sings" so he can hold a tune but his range is limited and doesn't belt, he sounds good but you wouldn't mistake him for having had lessons or being trained. But in private that guy can hold his own belting one out. He'll probably do it alone while cooking or doing something else but sometimes he over reaches and can't hit the note, his voice breaks, he laughs about it, he moves on. But because he's not all that good at it he doesn't like to do it publicly???

The more I rewatch the HSM trilogy (or random clips I click on), the more I am convinced that we were robbed the sassiest pair of all time. Chad and Sharpay.

Like...they would have been VERY interesting. Either as friends or even as a couple. Can you imagine?

Especially in HSM1, where they essentially don’t really give a damn about anyone else. They are literally the king and queen of the school as far as they’re concerned. And as far as everybody else is concerned?

Troy is the nice guy that everyone has a crush on. But Chad’s the one who leads the group dynamics? He’s the one that invites Troy to practise with the team during free period. He’s the one that’s making jokes (kind of) that everyone laughs at. 

Since Troy’s the main character, I sort of assumed he’d be the one everyone orbits, but actually watching it again he’s not? He’s usually drawn into orbit by Chad? And we know he regularly escapes to the rooftop to be away from all the attention.

Chad is obviously into Troy. And Sharpay is also sort of into Troy. But aside from their share interest in Troy, they just look down on people? Like all the time?

Chad is freaked out by people daring to talk to him lol. And neither of them ever bother to know other people’s names.

A missed opportunity of chaos by two gloriously rude prima donnas.

One trend I’ve always loathed is the one where people rewatch nostalgia tv shows/movies and then get on twitter to say some variation of “HOW did I never realize [Friend of the Protagonist who Has Flaws but is still ultimately Likable] is actually the DEVIL and [Antagonist Character Designed to be Awful] did NOTHING wrong!” Like I’m sorry what do you mean you love HSM1 Sharpay Evans but think Lily Moscovitch from the princess diaries needs to be punched in the face 😭 “Movie Villain vs Actual Villain” ENOUGH
