hi stormy, i hope youre doing well! ive recently started on yet Another read-thru of your home sweet home series. im in the double digits on how many times ive reread it lmao its one of my favorite fic series that ive read. thank you for sharing it with all of us and all the work that has gone into it 💛 right now im in the solstice arc(?) and times deadpan "im the startled homeowner" still gets me. also the poem/rhyme that starts this fic off as its chapter one is so good ive always loved that!! i also was curious, during the twisted truth or dare between time and wars, did you ever think about what happy solstice memory wars shared with the group? thanks again for the creative work you do; youre an incredibly skilled writer and one of my favorite authors to read; have a good one, stormy!

Good afternoon, anon, and thanks so much for the kind words!! This is the perfect time of year to reread the Solstice arc, isn't it.

Warriors usually has a subtle ulterior motive with his stories. He has high emotional intelligence; in the scene you mention, maybe he was originally intending to take Time down a potentially unpleasant line of questioning, but sensing the discomfort at the table he elected instead to take the conversation in a different direction.

He couldn't have shared any stories from the Guard without revealing Wild's secret, so maybe instead Wars opted to tell a story from his childhood. He grew up in a very nuclear-family situation in an affluent neighborhood, went to private schools, took private violin lessons, and so on. I bet their house was huge and decorated to professional-perfect standards. So the year that his mom accidentally wrapped one of his twin sister's gifts as his and vice-versa would have gone down in infamy.

Joke's on them, though. Wars privately wanted those fucking Uggs, and tomboy Linkle proudly declared that toy crossbow as hers forever.

How do each of the boys act around the holiday? Specifically considering how a major “selling point” of the holiday season is catered around traditional families.

Well, much has changed since HSH for the Holidays, hasn't it? I think that a lot of the seasonal depression that most of them had surrounding the holidays has lightened up a bit now that they all have one another.

Time - Is more tolerant of allowing the boys to decorate his house now. He even has a little tree in his study. Since gift-giving is his love language, he spends much of the colder months finding and wrapping the perfect presents for everyone.

Twilight - Still gets a little melancholy about not being able to spend his holidays at home with his little brother, but he gets along well with the rest of the household as distraction.

Champion - Doesn't recognize Solstice or Morterra or any midwinter holiday, really. He's quietly fascinated by all the lights and decorations like that cat with the big pupils beneath the Christmas tree.

Legend - His observance of Morterra is less raw for him now, but no less somber. He spends one evening in prayer for the dead, during which time he doesn't want to be bothered. Otherwise, he's more available now during the holidays than he had been in Termina.

Hyrule - Another holiday, another work shift. What else is new?

Sky - This boy is STRESSING about what to get his sweetheart for the holiday. What do you get for the princess who has everything, really? Lucky for him, the one thing he doesn't stress about is spending the holiday with Sunny and her sisters as he's slowly being inducted into the family.

Warriors - He makes one call to home for the holiday in the early afternoon, hoping to get either his mother or his twin sister. It's only ever his dad who picks up, and he never lets him talk with the rest of the family. He hides the sting behind a few minutes of being more quiet than usual with a mug of tea, then goes back to social distractions.

Wind - He goes home for the holiday. On one hand, how many more Solstice celebrations will he get to share with his grandmother? On the other hand, probably a hundred more, that old battle axe ain't goin nowhere.

Four - Usually wakes up with a "surprise" visitor already in bed with him. He and Shadow exchange small gifts, then he goes on to spend the day with the crazy household. Yes they're loud and obnoxious, but they're his, and he loves them.

Dark - He usually drinks enough to be passed out just as the sun's going down.

What are some non-sexual activities they do together?

Evening beach walks after dinner were always Legend’s favorite. Marin would walk on the side of the sunset; he quietly enjoyed how the bright oranges and yellows and pinks of the sun lit up the fiery hues in her hair. He also really loved listening to her sing when she was just doing things around the apartment — cooking or folding laundry — and she taught him some of the beautiful island songs she knew so that he could sing with her. He still hums some of those songs while setting up his altar during Morterra (the Feast of the Departed that is celebrated at the winter solstice in the HSH-verse).

Who takes longer showers?

STILL Legend, boy’s gotta keep that color in his hair nice somehow.

What is each member’s love language?

For Legend, we’ve established that his love language is acts of service. For Marin, it was gift-giving, but not necessarily “here’s a wrapped package for you Just Because.” She’d leave him little notes around the apartment or in his lunch bag for work (because he actually could hold a job back then). She’d bring him pretty shells to decorate his windowsills because his bedroom was pretty spartan back then, or little trinkets she found at the beachside shops that reminded her of him. Especially anything with seagulls; Legend hated seagulls, or at least he used to. She’d bring home flowers “to brighten up the place,” and when she learned that Legend hadn’t seen a hibiscus flower in person and saw how fascinated he was by them at first, they made an appearance on their kitchen table each week.
