Like my fav Lukolabrainrot I'm tooo not worried in the least by anything we have seen. When you're in love with someone you wanna show them off you wanna shout to the rooftops that you're with that person. You would talk about them nonstop. They would be in conversations that you have with other people. It's hard to keep it in when you truly love someone. That's a natural reaction to being in love with someone. The narratives that we see online Isn't always based on facts. It's based on peoples opinions. The facts are when you go on Luke or Nicola page who do you see besides themselves? On Nicola page you see Luke on Luke's page you see Nicola. You don't hide someone you love. You would talk about them in interviews randomly. You would post cute things they do. And you would definitely acknowledge they exist. Liking photo is a bare minimum that you do for people who are good friends. Hate is always going to come no one can stop it. If anything the more silent a star remains the more intense the hate gets. Again what are the facts? Nic post Luke and Luke post Nicola. Luke talked about Nic at jimmy Fallon and Nic talked Luke in time magazine. That my dears is the biggest signs of all. Those signs are what matter. One last thing I want to share my first lesson I learned in college. The Internet is a phenomenal tool for information. But you have to understand that anybody can put anything online. And people can manipulate photos. Photos can be taken out of context. My professors used to say if you're quoting something that you've seen online, you have to make sure that the source is a legitimate source. The source is credible. You can't site something as fact when the source isn't credible. Gossip sites. Aren't incredible source. In this situation the source would be Luke or Nic. The rest of the information isn't credible. So listen to what they're saying.

I know we are all having a lot of feelings about everything with JD and A this week. I've sat on everything this week and this is what I will say (and know that my feelings have not changed this week regarding Lukola). And these are just my thoughts and SPECULATION (but I feel pretty confident with them):

We don't know these people. They don't owe us anything. It is alright to feel frustrated (I know I have recently), but it is also important to use our critical thinking skills when consuming information that isn't coming DIRECTLY from L OR N.

We got an AMAZING WT from L/N, where a lot of us just fell in love with them and their connection. However, these are both grown adults in their 30s. IF they are with other people and there is NOTHING personal going on with L/N that they were/are trying to keep private, we wouldn't be seeing all these games. L and or N would have officially shut down rumors and come out with their respective partners at some point before now. They haven't. And therefore there is a reason everything has looked so weird since papgate...

And I believe one of the largest reasons is because of NDAs that are at play with A. Which leads us to her Spain carousel from today. Y'all, she has been sitting on these for a while. There is ZERO way for us to confirm when she was here, or if she was even there with L. Yes, that is probably the same balcony from the one he shared from his stories. Not denying that. But if she was REALLY with him as his "girlfriend" on this trip, you damn well know she would have shown that somehow. He's NOWHERE to be seen. Just like A was NOWHERE to be seen in his post or stories about the trip. She plays games and likes to stir the pot. THIS IS NOT NEW. We will most likely never be able to know who exactly was with L on this Spain trip and when he was there... But girlie pop has been sitting on these pics for a while, 100%. Why? Because I am almost certain this is her last direct tie to L, she saw that there was a lot of attention on N rn because of the JD stuff, and this was her bomb. I think L's NDA SM obligations are coming to an end this month, and she was trying to go out with a bang for the engagement (I don't think that is exactly what it did, but I am sure that was her goal). But if you still think L/A are super happy and serious from everything you've observed since papgate, then I don't know what to tell you. But NONE of this is a good indicator of a happy and healthy relationship when it comes to L/A.

Lastly, remember the rings everyone before you spiral. The Claddagh ring (which has now moved to N's left hand) is something she ordered in early MAYYYY. And she has been publicly wearing since early JUNE. So... for MONTHS. And we can argue all we want about that ring, but that ring is about her relationship with L. Period. And y'all, she grew up in the town where these rings ORIGINATED FROM. I highly doubt she skirts all tradition when it comes to these rings, and likely takes the orientation of them pretty seriously. Therefore, it appears that her and L are in a very serious and committed relationship. So, let's all take a deep breath, remember the rings, and let's carry on.

I’m crazy about the fact that Maxwell joined si-5 after 6 months of stalking and enormous pressure while Jacobi treats his one year anniversary of joining like it’s his wedding day. Idk what this is saying but I feel like it definitely says something about them and the way they view their places and roles in the power structure and their involvement in si-5

oh Absolutely. this is something i have put So much thought into because most si-5-centric episodes areeee My favorites.

Kepler and jacobi really do just. Work so well together and they way they just cut each other down is so Disgusting and Beautiful. but before i can really talk about that i do want to bring up the circumstance of how their “meeting” in TTBOT that kepler set up was able to create the roots for any of this.

kepler purposefully finds jacobi at his lowest and his most vulnerable (unlike maxwell). refers to him as his friend, starting off with his infamous “long story short”’s, buying him drinks. you could even take the way that he acts with and speaks to jacobi as a little flirtious. he pretends to take a genuine interest jacobi’s life, entertaining his riffing. as far as we know, jacobi and kepler are the only two people who are able to speak to each other in such a way that’s almost poetic. they finish each others sentences, and on jacobi’s side of things—

**i want to mention kepler quoting king lear in act 1 scene 4 specifically here. this is a little off topic but i also want to talk about it. TTBOT is also a good parallel of this scene because it lays the foundation for jacobi’s undying loyalty for kepler and his destructive nature and how it compliments keplers focus for only creating what matters as they both mirror kent and king lear respectively. this scene also touches on introducing keplers fatal flaw: his pride

—to directly quote kent here, he’s able to “keep secrets…ruin an elaborate story by trying to tell it, and deliver a plain message bluntly”. jacobi is essentially the filter for kepler, has he’s molded him as such. really, jacobi has trusted kepler from the beginning; i mean, how many other guys do you know that are also military men who go to shitty pubs in san francisco in the middle of the afternoon? jacobi is putty in keplers hands. kepler likes control, and when it comes to kepler, jacobi likes giving it up. [insert some powerplay joke here based on their innuendo-esque discussions about punishment]

moving on from TTBOT specifically, though, it makes sense that they have such a relationship. kepler introduces himself as jacobi’s savior. kepler is the reason he’s found a job, kepler is the reason he’s found his best friend who is practically his sister, kepler is the reason for.. who he is. (its also definitely related to the cycle of abuse kepler gets caught in due to his proximity to cutter.) kepler manipulates jacobi’s desperate need for approval constaaaantly so their power dynamic mimics that of two people who put each other on pedestals just building them higher and higher. kepler is obsessed with keeping up his image so jacobi doesn’t lose trust in him, and jacobi is obsessed with knowing that this image is true so he can continue to mirror it. he separates himself from his personhood to get as close to kepler as possible. in an ama somewhere as well shachat says that the two *need* special attention from each other for the si-5 to even function as a team! codependent freakssss!!!

to get to a general point about power structures, though, jacobi and kepler are so high up because they work together as a unit essentially sharing a status when the cutter administration isn’t present. neither of them believe that maxwell is “beneath” them, however, she simply isn’t able to match the influence or connection they have. maxwell is a skeptic, she’s a *woman* who’s been wronged so many times by the system that she has a general distrust of everyone and everything around her (excluding hera because… you know). and thats not to say she doesn’t genuinely value her relationship with jacobi either, but she teases him for his undying loyalty to kepler and their genuine appreciation for goddard. she’s only there to do her job as kepler is the only person giving her the means to do it. within the system, jacobi and maxwell are coworkers and kepler is their superior. however, socially, jacobi is above maxwell because of how much kepler and jacobi value each other.

not to paraphrase mitski here but… you know. jacobi is keplers dog. he believes in him like a god. and kepler will cut him down like he is

Warning! Pet illness, xray

A friend of mine a few states away had a pregnant female cat walk onto her porch and decide she lives now. She had 3 kittens. Since my friend/roommate @winterpower98 was looking for her first cat, we (other roommate/bestie, Winter/Gaia, and I) decided to take a trip down to visit and see if one of the kittens would work for her.

The thing is, she did fall in love with one! He's black with white markings, so the 6 year old had been calling him Eclipse. He's, curious, playful, and always trying to get into something. He loves Gaia. I mean LOVES her. And she loves him. Like... emptying her savings loves him.

Right before we arrived, our friend noticed a little lump on his belly. They thought nothing of it. And then, it got bigger. And bigger. And bigger.

After a week, we took him to a local vet to get checked out. He had a umbilical hernia. Luckily it stopped before his diaphragm, but the hernia was severe enough that he would need surgery to close it (a lot of articles talked about smaller ones closing on their own which is why we waited). He would also need special care for IBS symptoms and to keep his hernia from getting injured or obstructed before repair (which couldn't happen until he was big enough to go under anesthesia). He would need to come indoors for his safety and be separated from the others as his sisters pouncing on the hernia was causing issues (a week earlier than the 8 week mark).

I was honestly expecting Gaia to say it was too much for her to handle. Even told her that nobody would judge her for not being ready for that level of responsibility. That we could find an organization that could take him and get him the help he needed and find him a good home. He has two sisters she could consider, there were plenty of shelters back home with cats under a year old, and we could even check the town we were visiting and places on the way back home, so there were options. I knew how much it took to care for a kitten with health issues (my current cat required months of specialized care and there were plenty of scares along the way) and Gaia has no previous experience with cats outside of hanging out with our cats, so that's just starting on hard mode.

After a long serious talk on the responsibilities she was about to take on, she said she knew it would be hard but the thought of giving him up made her sick. That she would do whatever it took to give him a happy life for however long she has him. We aren't rich people, she's going back to college full time, she had only decided on him over one of his sisters that morning, and (again) this would be the first cat she has ever had. She went all in without a second thought.

The original quotes from various vets willing to do the surgery (not all vets can) were pretty insane, but luckily I found a non-profit that did the surgery for about half. My other roommate and I fully support her and chipping in what we can.

Eclipse is 8 week old and his surgery is scheduled in a month, but we are going to call in and check for cancelations since he's reached the minimum weight and age for anesthesia. Winter has been so busy caring for him that she's not had a chance to post about him, so I decided to do it on the drive home. I think the story is important because it raises awareness about an issue most don't know about and shows someone genuinely caring about a pet with special needs. As a disabled person who's went through a lot of ableism and survived abuse, it really hit me to see how much she loves him with her whole chest and doesn't ever approach his issues with anger or blame.

I don't ask for reblogs much, but I wanted to ask you guys to boost this. Edit: Late thing to add on, but a few days after posting this my other roommate/bestie Sarah decided to adopt his sister! Her name is Melanite, but her honey eyes have earned her the nickname Miel. Her and Eclipse have always been very close (often laying on top of each other), so it's great that they'll get to stay together.

those words, oh those horrific words that yuta hoped would never come out of your mouth, struck him like a lighting.

you were serious, not a single hinge of a positive sign on your face.

your boyfriend stood still, frozen in time. astoundingly, his heart was racing like a mclaren on a highway. before the ringing in his ears got to his brain, he tried to gaslight himself into thinking it’s nothing serious. such simple words should not impact him that much. and yet…

“did something happen?” he asked, reaching his hand out. you were standing in the doorway, hesitating to come in.

“i just… i need you to listen to me” you started softly, fiddling with the strings of your hoodie. yuta knew you like the back of his own hand, he knew you’re nervous.

“i’m breaking up with you”

the whole world stopped, including his breath. eyes widening, lips parting and opening in a shocked motion.

“what?” he breathed out shakily, brows furrowed.

“it’s not you, yuta. it’s me. i… god, i’m such an asshole but you need to understand. you’re a singer too” you carefully picked your words, as if you practiced million times beforehand. “i need to focus on my career. and maybe it’s also… i have this feeling that i’m only shining because of your light. it’s eating me up alive”

“are you kidding me?” yuta blinked, mind resisting what you just said.

“i’m sorry, i know you’ll hate me. and there’s nothing wrong with you, i love and will love you. i just need to be alone” pearly tears balanced at the edge of your waterline, threatening to spill out, but you quickly wiped them. because of that you smeared a bit of your mascara. your voice was barely above a whisper from the beginning to the end. “you have the right to be furious, to be mad. i get it. so i’ll keep going. i just… i’m sorry, yuta. it’s about me, i need to be selfish this one time”

there was a hint of begging in your voice, this kind of sadness that one has when facing their biggest fear. but yuta was too blinded by a whole hurricane of emotions to notice.

it’s been a year since that night and yuta can still clearly recall this memory. despite having more positive memories with you, this one always plays in his head whenever he sees your face. you released two albums, with one debuting last week number one almost everywhere. the public knew you were dating, since the company put a statement about it. however, they did not say anything about your breakup.

so often people that haven’t seen him in a while would congratulate you through him. each time ending with a sour expression on yuta’s face.

he wanted to reach out but all his friends told him not to (“give it a rest” johnny nagged “clearly she doesn’t give a shit about you”).

but the more time passed by, the more sleepless nights spent in deep thought, yuta realized maybe there was another reason. maybe…

“don’t overthink it, that’s how life works. i’m sorry man, she clearly loved you. but you’re in this business too, you know how it is” jaehyun would pat his back with a soft smile.

maybe they were right, maybe it was his heart after all that never came to an agreement with your decision.

he even texted you a couple of times, always meeting with his messages only being seen.

“it’s time to let go, yuta. it’s been a year” taeyong’s advice is always the best, in the end.

“l/n y/n to end her career! the singer didn’t state a reason, only leaving a long apology letter behind for her fans!”

yuta’s heart halted, feeling as if a freezing icicle ripped through the muscle.

first of all, he was genuinely shocked.

second of all, he was worried. you left him to pursue your career and now you’re… leaving? was it all pointless?

as your ex boyfriend (god, that still sounded strange to him) and as an artist himself, he felt like something was not right. he truly wished the best for you and now… you’re quitting?

no one seemed to know what’s up – a massive flood of both hate and sad comments on the internet. twitter was filled with conspiracy theories (like, you flopped or you two broke up – which wasn’t wrong, necessarily. but it wasn’t also fully correct).

yuta knew he had to find out what’s going on. if you’re doing okay. not knowing whether meeting you will only make things worse or better, the only thing he was certain about was facing it.

the sound of doorbell caused you to stir awake from your nap. you rubbed your eyes and stood up, hoping it’s the takeout you ordered.

your living room was covered in darkness, blindfolds rolled all the way down. sure, you were tripping all the time but that way you didn’t have to fight with the mess you made.

you opened the door, leaning to grab the paper bag but instead, your head bumped into something.

you huffed, looking up. you clearly left a message on the order to leave it on the doorstep because…

yuta.

“y/n”

you gasped, ready to close the door. but his foot sliding between the doorframe prevented you from doing so.

you two stared at each other in silence, both analyzing the other’s appearance.

him, red hair stylishly falling on his forehead. he had his loose clothes on, a leather jacket thrown on a grey hoodie. he looked… well. healthy. as if your breakup never happened.

and you… greasy hair, pajamas that you’ve been wearing for the past – god knows how many – days, deep circles under your puffy eyes.

“is everything okay?” yuta had the courage to speak up first, genuine worry in his voice.

you could see he was fighting with emotions on the inside.

opening your mouth and closing it, you wanted to say it.

instead, tears pricked your eyes.

your ex was the first person to ask you that question ever since you dropped the announcement. ironic, isn’t it?

you started hyperventilating, wanting to scream it all out.

“hey, it’s okay. talk to me” he said gently and watched in terror how your face twisted with sadness, pearly tears rolling down your cheeks “hey, y/n…”

you jolted forward and hugged him, arms tightly wrapping around his waist. at first, he wasn’t sure.

code red was booming in his mind, knowing that there’s going to be no way back. but his heart knew he has to be there for you. he has to be the one to comfort you.

so he did, letting you cry everything out. gently holding you, swaying back and fourth. just like he always used to.

just when he felt you calming down, breathing becoming more stable, he leaned away with his hands still on your hips.

“we need to talk”

hah.

now that was ironic due to two reasons.

you nodded and stepped aside, allowing him to come in. yuta did.

he felt a stench of rotten food and dirty clothes. your place was soaking in darkness… not a natural one, it was still sunny outside. anxiety rushed over his body. things are certainly not right.

you sighed deeply and ran your fingers through your hair, thinking.

then, you lead him into your bedroom.

quickly putting the blindfolds up and then sweeping the piles of clothes off your bed, you had to squint your eyes. you had to adjust for the natural lighting.

you felt yuta’s burning gaze on you.

with a heavy heart, you pulled out your phone.

“i’m worried. i have my own challenges and struggles but i feel like you need saving more than me” he hummed softly, ebony eyes scanning you with a tender gaze.

he saw you swallow hardly, typing something. then, you turned your phone around with tears pooling in your eyes once again.

the note read: “i lost my voice permanently”

his heart dropped, breathing coming to a halt.

“what?” his head is spinning, panic settling in. that’s a horror for a singer.

you nodded and added something else.

“i got aphonia. i recently had laryngitis, it disappeared and then appeared again. and so on. until one day it didn’t go away. but my doctor warned me beforehand that this may happen”

yuta closed his eyes and shook his head, trying to reject it. he heard of those illnesses, of course he did. his vocal coach mentioned them but also said that they are very rare, often affecting only 0.4% of the people between ages of 14 and 35.

but he didn’t think… out of all people… it would be you.

he opened his eyes, wanting to say something… anything. no words came out, his throat feeling as if someone held it with an iron grip.

you switched to another note. he looked at the date and his eyes widened upon realizing.

the day before you broke up with him. you already knew, you had it prewritten.

“i thought this day would come and you know how much of an overthinker i am. maybe it’s good i lost my voice because i wouldn’t be able to say it out loud without my voice breaking.

yuta, i wanted to break up with you to save you from pain. i didn’t want you to see me struggle, to see me rot inside because im not able to do what is my passion.

i knew i’d lose my voice sooner or later and wanted to record one or two last albums before i wouldn’t be able to. i wanted to put all my heart in, i knew i had to focus. and spare you pain.

i’m sorry. i know i ended up hurting you nevertheless. it was inevitable

maybe you wou”

the last word was clearly stopped halfway, a thought escaping you.

just when he finished reading, he realized you’re crying again.

everything clicked suddenly, like a puzzle. why were you whispering when you broke up with him, that you did it so he wouldn’t see you suffer. so your decision was just a cover and it wasn’t selfish after all, no. it was the complete opposite.

“it’s alright, it’s alright” yuta said, stepping closer. he wrapped arms around you, pressing your head to his chest gently. the drum of his heart made you shake… you missed that sound “i’ll save you. we’ll go to different doctors. there has to be a cure–”

he wasn’t able to finish because you just shook your head with a loud sniff. “i’ll be here for you now”

you felt weak. like a burden.

“we’ve got this” yuta whispered, a bittersweet feeling in his heart. he hated seeing you in pain, especially such a big one. but now it was his turn to be selfless and help you, save you; love you.

if the next book is really about the valkyries with gwyn at the centre, i’m sorry but that’s just terrible writing. it makes zero sense for sarah to write a book about nesta and her friend group yet again, when elain hasn’t even had her time to shine. why don’t they keep her name out of their mouths and throwing insults left and right about her. really tells you a lot about their shitty ass behaviour. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: they don’t care about elain. if they did they’d know she doesn’t want to leave the night court. her family, her friends, her home. azriel, even. and she certainly won’t leave for lucien, or with him. it’s like they’re projecting their wants for her/on her because if she leaves then she’s away from azriel, (the man she canonically wants and is romantically interested in but they again choose to ignore that and close their damn eyes.) and if that happens then azriel can find his real mate, right?

i swear they have selective reading and it really grinds my gears when they accuse us of doing shit or spewing nonsense when it’s literally fucking canon. right there on the page. sjm said it was obvious, like, how the hell can you just twist her words like that and think acotar 6 will be about azriel with a side character who he has shown no interest in besides being a friend mentor? they’re projecting hard and it shows. it’s not that difficult to think that the book will be about the third archeron sister with the third bat boy, and hints were left in previous books. what’s not clicking? or is their hatred for elain blinding them?

Here’s reasons why the next book can’t be about the valkryies:

Each spinoff is a standalone, interconnected through plot only. Meaning you will be able to go from acofas -> acotar 5 without reading acosf as you can do with most interconnected standalones, think of the Twisted series by Ana Huang. However, if the next book is about the valkryies…by default you would have *had* to read acosf, another reason why Gwyn cannot be an FMC, this defeats the purpose of it being a standalone.

HOFAS - Leans into the prison and made weapons plot, something the valkryies aren’t needed for nor apart off.

This quote by the end of acosf is literally telling you what is to come:

Do you see the Illyrian plot mentioned here? The valkryies can be useful in war as a fighting unit but that doesn’t require an entire book on them.

Now it is repetitive and bad writing for the next book to basically be the same as acosf instead of focusing on the million other subplots Mass has going on. Through Elain, she can explore a new friendship dynamic, a role, a new training scene etc.

Yeah, we’ve all known since forever that they dont care about Elain. 9/10 out of them are fake and only see Elain as a way to get a Lucien pov and take her away from Azriel. If they actually paid attention, they know their interpretation of Elain doesn’t align with canon. I mean…they listened to her when she claimed she didnt kill the king yet ignore Elain when she said she doesn’t want a mate and the NC is her home w Nuala and Cerr as her friends. They pick and choose what fits their narrative hence why its always changing and antis have come up with so many different plotlines for the next book as well as contradicting each other. On the other hand, if you look at elriel, elriels have always been consistent with their plots, characters, theories and takes.

Eluciens use Elain as a self-insert and project THEIR love and attraction for Lucien onto her which is why they claim she’s losing her boldness and shrinking back because “she just cant handle how down bad she is for him” which makes no sense but its not like they care. And we also know they have selective reading comprehension because they’re STILL arguing that Elain didnt kill the king despite the literal Publishers disagreeing w them.

They’re rlly being bitter about elriels just existing and enjoying the interactions from BB. Calling us toxic and spamming the comments when in reality we’re just excited because this is a lot of interaction we haven’t gotten before meaning something must be coming from Sarah. They hate the fact we’re bringing up elriel…when the brackets included elriel but also elain and az are part of the OG series and have had many iconic moments there.

mhm, pairing Az with a side character we’ve just met is crazy. This whole “21 chapter” thing should tell you how careful and considerate Mass is with her foreshadowing and connections, there is no way Mass would have introduced Azriels mate/Li in a spinoff, Gwyn would have been introduced much earlier. I mean…emerie was in acofas. I think there is a lot of attention on the wrong side character.

I'm not good at analysis, and English is not my first language, so this is just me rambling about why I love him. I also apologize for the grammatical mistakes I may have made >_< hopefully I can still get my points across!

A friend showed me Ritsu's introduction post because she thought Ritsu looked like the type I would fall for in terms of design, and she is absolutely right.

However, upon reading his quote, I was unsure if I would like his personality, so I took my friend's recommendation with a grain of salt.

∘₊✧──────────✧₊∘ Getting to know Ritsu ∘₊✧──────────✧₊∘

At the beginning of Sinostra chapter, I was still 50/50 about him because he is, ugh..... 😭 We never met him before, and yet he already had our info?! Not just ours, but everyone's?

Plus, bro keeps yapping and is also a bit forceful... That's annoying as heck. But then I remembered I have another favorite character with quite a similar personality: Sebek Zigvolt (Twisted Wonderland).

I tried to see if they had similar traits, and apparently, they did.

Apart from being in their first year of high school (baby!!!), they are resilient, pay careful attention to their appearance, talk a lot, and are keen on achieving their goals... but they're also a little obsessive about it, and the way they do their things could come off as annoying for other people.

And I was like... oh, hm. I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Then I continued reading the story and noticed several moments where Ritsu got flustered, for example, when Taiga called him out because of his handwriting.

It's one of the points where I realized he might be my next mistake... because I like characters who are difficult to handle and get flustered when being teased or when things don't go their way. 😭 Those characters make me say "I love you, you are so cute, but why are you like this??!" 😭 I feel like I can freely pinch their arm when they start being silly. 😭😭😭

After reading Sinostra chapter, I paid more attention to his campus dialogues and home lines. I had a discussion with my friend, and we concluded that he actually has good intentions, but the way he does his things is unusual. I think that's what makes him unique (albeit creepy at times 😭).

I'll take his affinity lv2 home line as an example:

“You’ve lost your notebook? Just a moment. …At 9:04 AM, it was inside the photocopier. Yes, I do have that information recorded.”

I mean, who the hell does that? I appreciate the help, but why does he know the location of our missing notebook just from his recording? Why?😭

Being a little twerp aside, I like how he can be understanding(?) and open to new things.

He has a line like this. This is from the summer lines.

“You want to go and watch the fireworks? A rather childish request, but all right. So? Where would one go to view them?”

He thinks our request is childish but he agreed to go!!! Usually, a prideful character like him would just brush us off, but he didn't...

Another example is his ramen talk with Ren in episode 7. It seems he isn't used to eating food like instant ramen because he's been eating ramen at an actual ramen shop, but he is willing to try it. He even did his research before buying. 🥺

∘₊✧─────────────────✧₊∘ How I personally perceive him ∘₊✧─────────────────✧₊∘

Now that I've learned more about him, I think he is:

A good boy with a clear goal but a questionable way of executing his plan.

Adorable and round... I want to poke his cheeks.

Inspiring! I like how studious and organized he is. I even started writing more in my journal because of him.

Willing to try new things! I admire this about him!

Cute-- wait, I've mentioned that. Okay, he is silly. Please look at his action in episode 8 where he was mostly with Taiga. He did his best to keep a watch on his captain, literally doing everything he could, like using his stigma to be a doorstop 😭

In short, I find him endearing. I want to slap him at times but I still find him endearing. I don't know if it's a suitable word to describe it, but it's how I feel about him. `(*>﹏<*)′

Again, this is my very personal take on his character so I might be biased at some points, but I hope this could help you find a thing or two about Ritsu!

Re: Helly and the computation statement

On the one hand, you could argue that the Compunction Statement is the only bit of text that Helly has ever had the opportunity to memorize. We saw the other MDR members latching onto texts like the Handbook (Irving) and Ricken's Book (Mark and Dylan), and given the sterile environment they live in and monontanaity of the work they do, it really is no surprise that they would hold these texts so dear--they are literally the only outlet they have to connect to a broader world reaches beyond their office--the Handbook because it is supposedly the founding text of the global company Lumon and Ricken's book because it literally comes from the outside world. Helly isn't ever shown reading the Handbook (and why should she when she is too busy rebelling against as many Lumon restrictions she can and also Irving can recite all three volumes at will?), and given the way Mark hoarded Ricken's book (and Dylan only discovered it because he was being nosy. King behavior), it's safe to say that she never had the opportunity to find meaningful passages from the two texts that have so inspired her colleagues. No, the text Helly knows best is the same text she's been forced to read over and over again (1,072 times). It's all she really knows. And she doesn't have her friends to offer up their own inspirational quotes so when she's standing in front of the mirror in that bathroom and digs down deep inside for something to give her the strength to follow through with this plan, the only thing she can find is the Compunction Statement.

HOWEVER, my personal reading has less to do with the fact that Helly is so brand new to the world that she doesn't have anything else to hold onto as she psyches herself up to take that stage--and more to do with the emotional implications. The Compunction Statement itself is full of that same eery Lumon lingo that we hear from the Handbook and from the Eagan recordings in the Perpetuity Wing. It's meant to be difficult to say, meant to evoke an emotional response (hence the distress readings Milkchik checked each time before saying, "I'm afraid you still don't mean it."). And meant to dig down deep into the psyche--it's memorable because it's so strange, memorable because it's repeated over and over again, and memorable because it is associated with shame. The whole experience in the Break Room is set up to make the disciplined employee as uncomfortable as possible from the weird sounds the different employees hear coming from behind that screen to the way the Statement is projected so the light blinds them and even the posture--they have to keep their hands on the table, no slouching, no looking away. So it is safe to say that Helly's feelings about the Statement are decidedly hostile. She even tells Milchick "I was never sorry." when she thinks she's finally leaving for good. (Oh my poor baby!) And it is this little moment that I think really foreshadows the deeper implications of what Helly is doing in that bathroom--she sincerely believes she has reached the point of no return, and that completing the mission will mean her DEATH.

Think back to Helly's final moments on the Severed floor. All of MDR knew that what they were doing was dangerous, and they each did their best to cope with their fear in their own ways. For Helly and Mark, they joked about what their outies might be doing on the outside, something they've joked and speculated on before. Its something Lumon discourages, as it could distract from their mysterious and important work. It's something safe and familiar, a way to deflect from the fact they have absolutely no clue what's about to happen or what they'll be faced with out there. But in those final moments Helly can't let the elevator close without stepping back out to kiss Mark (*SQUEALING CRYING SCREAMING*). And she tells him it's "ya know, in case we don't come back." Which means that despite their lighthearted banter, despite the brave face they've both put on--Helly recognizes the gravity of the situation. That they are taking real steps now to fight back against Lumon and take some control over their own lives. But that ultimately Lumon has the power to shut her off if she pushes them too far--that this might be the kind of rebellion they won't just send her to the Breakroom for. This is much more serious--they could literally kill her/never let her return. Now, remember that parallel scene I mentioned before, when Helly thought she was leaving for good and told Milchick she was "never sorry"? The Helly in that scene saw this concept of leaving with no return as a type of freedom, a way to get out of this hellish environment. It was what she wanted. She was tired of being controlled, and quitting (both Lumon and her life) was the ultimate way of exerting her own autonomy. But A LOT has changed since that moment--and it is greatly summed up in the second half of what Helly tells Mark after *THE KISS*. "In case, ya know, we dont come back...or, I guess, in case we DO?" For the first time Helly is expressing a desire to return. She is finding that she has people she cares about, people she LOVES. And that is enough for her to want to come back, to see Mark and the others again. And keep fighting and learning and LIVING.

But then of course--she wakes up at that gala where she finds out her outie is one of the Eagans. The very family that is responsible for building the hell she and her friends are trapped in. And more than that--every part of her life, every aspect of it, has been warped and sanitized so that her outie can promote the very procedure that has enslaved Helly and her friends without their consent. That she has been a pawn in all this. It would be a lot for anyone to take in, but then, to add on to the fucking mountain of trauma for our poor girl--who should walk in when she's trying to calm down alone in that bathroom--Jame Eagan, the current CEO and practical deity of Lumon. Her outie's father. And he wants to thank her for the brave thing she's done, and he wants to tell her that soon the whole world will be Severed, soon EVERYONE will be trapped in that Hell Helly has been forced to call home.

So WHY does Helly stare at herself in that mirror and recite the Compunction Statement? It's not just a pep talk or muscle memory. It's a eulogy. It's a fight song. It's a battle cry. Helly's talk with Jame Eagan made her even more determined than ever to destroy this company and free her friends, NO MATTER THE PERSONAL COST. It isn't only about stopping Lumon anymore--her suicidal ideation in the past was about trying to exert her own will. It was very self based, a desperate and extreme attempt to claim personhood and freedom. But now it has a completely different meaning, it's not about FREEDOM but SACRIFICE. Because now she has a better sense of what she will lose. Her friends. Her blossoming romance. Those little moments of connection. If she follows through with her part of the OTC, Lumon might never let her go back. If she gets the truth about Severance out there--NONE of them may ever come back. If she does this, they might KILL HER.

But she is going to do it anyway. Because she has to. Her friends are depending on her.

That Compunction Statement was meant to break her down, both physically and mentally so that she would be more pliant and follow Lumon's rules. But Helly has never been sorry. No one can atone for her actions but herself--but her actions aren't always her own. Her outie helped build this hell. And Helly knows the only way to atone is to burn it all down. And only she can do it. She was never sorry.

has anyone else noticed that homestuck is getting kinda long?

(page 1145-1148; some thoughts on pacing and accessibility)

Jade’s bass playing to grow or move the lilypads works, and was well foreshadowed – in addition to both her bass playing pages where the garden atrium grows because of the amp in there (p.822, 1026), Jade captchalogues the bass (p.823) and the narration specifically notes ‘You take the PORTABLE AMP from the WALL SOCKET too.’ It feels like Act 3 has been entirely leading up to Jade entering these ruins.

In ‘[S] Jade: Pester John’ (p.1073), Bec guards the mystic ruins on Jade’s island, and a glowing white spirograph in the ‘same’ location mapped onto Prospit. So it’s a fair guess that the white spirograph was also present on ancient Earth, and may have been the cause of the ruins’ construction. And that means it might still be within the ruins, and could act as a portal to Skaia, which would allow Jade to go there while she’s awake. If she did that, could she travel to Prospit and find her own dream self? Or is her dream self only present on Prospit when her waking self is asleep? Either way, I think these ruins will be Jade’s backdoor into Sburb.

I love all three of these Jade pages for the visuals – 1145 because it’s cool when two panels match up into one bigger one (and interesting to think about why this was chosen instead of one bigger panel – maybe because one is Jade and one is the amp, and they’re two separate focal points?) and 1146 because Jade imagining herself as a frog as she jumps over lilypads is so fun and silly. I checked Wikifur and apparently amphibians such as frogs are classified under scalies, which is different to her interest in a ‘proud snout’, ‘the hunt’ and ‘claiming the night’ (p.797) but still fits with her desire for ‘a more visceral sapience’ and escaping the confines of humanity. So I feel like Jade doesn’t have one specific fursona, and wants to keep her options open with different animals.

And 1147 is just incredible – the glowing green symbols look like something from a hacker movie, like Jade’s entering a digital space, but at the same time we know this is physical stone and ancient hieroglyphs. Those things being meshed is very cool to me, and it makes me wonder just how much of all human technology was originally from Skaia. The mesmerizing soft glow gives the page a dreamlike quality, a reminder that Jade doesn’t have a plan, she’s just following instructions from her dreams and acting on faith.

John told Dave ‘i think you should use your copy of the game to help [rose]!’ on page 294, and it has taken 854 pages and over half a year in real time for him to install the game and help, but they are finally making this transpire. I was saying yesterday how Jade challenges Rose, and today I’m saying that Dave doesn’t challenge Rose at all. They have great banter, but Rose always has a leg up on it – and I think she types and/or thinks faster too, as she gets in her ‘Go on.’ before Dave can finish his ‘where making this’ sentence, when usually he’s the one to send a bunch of messages in a row.

Here’s the thing. I am speaking directly to Rose Lalonde here. Hi Rose, I understand that your house is burning down and things suck right now and you should not have to be the person who has to micromanage all your friends and deal with this entire situation alone. However. You are being dumb as shit by not giving Dave some basic instructions on exactly what to do the second he loads the game. You know that kid is not gonna read your GameFAQs. You know he can dish out those giant long monologues but he cannot take them. Please Rose, for your own safety and possibly the future of humanity or something, give the guy like three bullet points.

...no? Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff reference instead? Okay then.

I have been thinking about the update frequency, and thought I was projecting because I definitely put an above average amount of time into Homestuck, but maybe this is a bigger issue. People only have so much time in the day, but some people do have more time than others. Relative to other webcomics, Homestuck asks readers to put a lot more time into it, a lot more frequently – both because the updates come fast and because the story is complex. It rewards people who do put a lot of time into it, because the small details, patterns and parallels, time loops, etymologies, and opportunities to predict and even influence (via user commands) the story encourage people to stay up to date, to read closely and reread often. The more effort you put into reading Homestuck, the more you get out of it, and that’s incredible, but it’s definitely made by and for people who have a lot of leisure time. So, young middle class people, especially teenagers and college students who don’t need jobs, and people who are socially isolated for whatever reason, will be way overrepresented. (I do this project because I love it and I do it by choice, but balancing this with work and school and relationships and my other major hobby is not easy especially with what’s felt like a recent increase in update frequency!)

This quality also makes it more competitive with other webcomics – someone might have time to keep up with, say, 20 webcomics that post a once per day or three times a week strip that stands alone or is part of a relatively simple story. If that person wants to follow Homestuck, they might have to drop down to 15 or even 10 other comics, because this one takes up such a disproportionate amount of space. This idea of creators putting out constant content to stay afloat on a transient internet, such that it could be a full time job to keep up with it (and sometimes is – there’s franchises that have in-house lore experts because creators themselves struggle to keep track of stories) will become huge in the future. And when we can all only pick a couple pieces of media to stay up to date with, life gets harder for smaller, newer and part time creators, who can’t provide that yet. And yeah I’m probably part of that problem.

I might also disappear for a few days to work on end of act 3 stuff! or I might not! if I have anything to say in the meantime or any fun asks then I will post. but at the absolute latest I will post on the day EOA3 drops and if I don’t do that then send an ambulance to my house.

“Pass me a donut will ya”

Everyday since the plaque went up 5 years ago, Bucky always reads it. Everyday a small chuckle will leave his lips when reading the quote Tony made sure was engraved in the marble. ‘She always said it and she did tell me once that when she died to have it on the plaque they HAD to give her’ Tony repeated that conversation when they deciding what would be put on the plaque. It was true, did she always say it. He can hear her voice saying the words he reads every day.

Putting his two fingers to his lips he lightly kisses them, the gently places his fingers on her photo. Her ID photo took 8 tries to take because she wouldn’t sit still or she wouldn’t keep a straight face. In the end they settled on the final one, her with a huge smile on her face. She told Bucky once when he had asked-

‘why are you smiling in your photo?’

‘Because a smile a day keeps the dentist at bay’

‘That’s not an expression’

‘Well it should be’

He missed her more and more every day. Today however left a bitter taste in his mouth, today was the anniversary of her death.

Every year since they watched their friend die, the team makes sure they don’t have missions just so they can celebrated her death as well as her birthday.

Every year on that painful day they gather in the common room and watch all of her favourite films and play all the board games she went crazy over, they would order and/or cook her favourite food. Then they would each blow out a candle on the large donut Tony had specially made for her birthday.

He remembers that day when Tony surprised her with it a few years before her death. Her squeals made everyone laugh, she made everyone blow out one candle ‘it’s my birthday and I want everyone to get a wish’ and as the years passed they still did it.

They were halfway through the third film when director Fury walked in.

“I’m sorry to interrupt but you guys need to hear this”

“What is it?” Tony asks sitting up from where he was slouching.

“Earlier today there was an attack at SHIELD headquarters”

“How many are dead?” Steve asks.

“The real question you need to ask is how many are alive Rogers”

“Well?” Natasha speaks up from where she sits next to Wanda.

“None. 28 people are in critical condition” each member of the team murmur their different abbreviations of ‘oh god’.

“Who was it do you know?” Steve questions.

Walking around the sofa and sitting down on the lone chair Fury sighs “There’s was only one person. With a symbol on their back, take a wild guess which one”

“Hydra” They all speak at the same time.

“Yep. Now heres the reason why I’m here. The computers were tampered with, the IT department has managed to find out what was deleted”

“Go on” Tony says when Fury trails off.

“The file.. the only file to be downloaded and deleted was Y/n’s.”

The teams reaction was different from one another’s however Bucky, Bucky’s heart stopped, he’d gone cold and clammy at the same time, so many questions circled his mind. Why hers? Why now? Why couldn’t they just leave her alone? Why her of all agents?

It was as if Steve could read his mind because it was him that asked “Why hers? She’s been dead for 6 years now. Why would Hydra want her file?”

“We-I don’t know. Now here’s the part you guys are not going to like. Ross wants Y/n’s body to be dug up”

Before anyone get say anything “Absolutely fucking not! You touch her grave I’ll kill you myself!” Bucky shouts.

“Then I’ll bring you back to life just to kill you again” booms Thor.

“Listen to me, I don’t want to do this! Ro-“

“I don’t care what Ross wants. It’s bad enough her headstone needs to be replaced every two months because of arseholes keep wanting a piece of it, now you want to dig her up? It nearly killed all of us watching her coffin go into that hole now you want us to watch it come back up?” Bucky’s left hand is balled tight in a fist as he paces back and forth.

“You don’t have to watch and you need to watch your tone” Fury shot back.

“What are you going to do with her?” Wanda asks before Bucky can say anything.

“We’ll put her somewhere different- safer. It’s just a precaution and we have no idea what they want with her file. We don’t know why they picked her out of all active agents and Barnes I don’t like this anymore than you do, Y/n was” taking in a deep breath “I miss her too. I’m sorry but I’m going to give Ross the go ahead on this. You guys don’t have to to be there when it happens and when we find out what’s going on we’ll bury her again. I promise”

For a full 20 minutes after Fury left they were sitting in complete silence each trying to wrap their heads around the information they were just given. SHIELD headquarters had been attacked by Hydra - using just one person to assassinate so many agents. Out of all the Agents of SHIELD alive or dead they pick their friends file, their friend who they loved and adored the same friend who always had a smile on her face no matter what, the one person who could light up a room just by walking inside of it. A person who was so full of happiness and sunshine yet deadly and damn right terrifying when she needed to be.

Now said friend who they have grieved for, for the past 6 years was about to have her resting place disturbed. Like Bucky had said to Fury, it nearly killed each and everyone of the Avengers and the Guardians - who came to Earth just to attend her funeral - they knew that the probability of dying on the job was high, of course they did, they just never expected it to happen to her, they had to watch as their friend, confidant, colleague, the better half to all of them lay in a box surrounded with 4 camera crews broadcasting their every move just so the whole world could watch them in their most vulnerable moment. They watched as her coffin was gently placed into the ground, knowing that it was going to be the last time they would ever see her after the soil would cover her.

They broke. Plain and simple, they broke. Worst part of it was is that the world lapped it up, the images of Natasha more famously known as the Black Widow standing at the grave of her best friend in bright colour clothing crying, was every where - people joked about how the deadly assassin was crying, saying she wasn’t as strong as everyone made her out to be because she cried. Y/n was undoubtedly the only person Nat felt comfortable with, the one person who saw Natasha as Natasha, not the Black Widow but her friend Natty. She was actually the first person in a very long time to see Nat cry, it was when the goldfish - that Y/n had brought her after she found out that Nat had always wanted one - had died, she felt so unbelievably stupid for crying over it but all Y/n did was hold her, told her to stop being silly for calling herself stupid. They buried it near the lake, just the two of them. Y/n even had bagpipes playing on her phone which made the redhead chuckle.

Wanda was called a crybaby because guess what? She was crying, she was crying because she was burying her best friend! The first person other than Steve to treat her like a human being. The first person to show her that not all people were bad, the one person who wasn’t scared of her that time when Wanda had lost control of her powers making people run in fear, not Y/n though nope she was the one who managed to help Wanda ground herself.

Steve was also mocked for crying for the loss of his friend, ‘Captain America weeps at funeral’, ‘Captain America is weak’, ‘Steve Rogers needs to give up the shield’. Y/n was the one who taught him how to use technology, showed him how the modern world worked and operated. She was the first person on his side when he wanted to track Bucky down. He loved her, not romantically, but he loved her so much. She made him feel normal, she never treat him like he was nearing a 100 years old who was missing 70 years of his life, like he actually was.

Sam just like the rest was called weak for crying at his friends funeral. The two of them drove the whole team insane when they were together (which was pretty much all the time) Like Steve he loved Y/n, she was his sister, his angel as he always called her. She was his best friend, favourite person in the world. The photo of Sam falling to his knees at the side of his angels grave was blasted all over the internet.

The photos of Tony clinging on to his now wife Pepper made front pages as well. ‘Billionaire Tony Stark cries at funeral of dead agent’. ‘Billionaire Tony Stark has to be held up by woman at funeral’. He saw Y/n as his daughter - shit she called him dad and he introduced her to anyone as his daughter. She didn’t see him as a bank, nope she hated it when he would give her money, one time she had to ask him if she could borrow money from him doing it with tears in her eyes because she felt ashamed of herself for asking. A few weeks later she gave him the money back with interest, when he told her to stop being silly and for her to keep it they argued for nearly 3 hours. She managed to slip the money into his pocket without him even realising it. Tony loved her so deeply, when he and Pepper found out they was having a baby girl they already had her name picked out - Morgan, Y/n’s middle name.

‘God of Thunder Thor spotted crying at funeral’ Like everyone else of course he was crying he lost his friend, she made him laugh, she made confused - once she convinced him that she was invisible and that he was the only person who could see or hear her, for 3 weeks he was absolutely convinced he was the only person on planet Earth who could see her. It wasn’t until Sam got back from a mission that the whole jig was up. He was truly captivated by her but even more so especially after she was able to lift Mjölnir higher up than Steve was able to, waved his hammer around like it weighed nothing. He, like Bucky, blamed himself for her death, he thought no believed it was his fault she was no longer with them. So yes of course he cried.

Bruce wasn’t allowed to attend his friends funeral because when she died he couldn’t control the big green beefy fella - as Y/n called him - from coming out. Fury and Ross said it would be bad and take the attention away from Y/n if the Hulk was there. He agreed. Y/n loved Hulk like she loved Bruce, she wasn’t afraid of the Hulk - Christ she once tried to have an arm wrestle with him! She didn’t once make Bruce feel like he was a freak or a dangerous monster as small minded people called him. No she treat him with respect and kindness. It took 2 months for him to go from being Hulk to being Bruce again.

Clint turned his hearing aids off for months after her death, he remembered her asking him to teach her how to sign language just so he didn’t have to always wear them. That was an interesting experience to say the very least. Clint adored her, adored the spark she carried around, adored the warmth and tranquillity she oozed. Her strength, willpower and willingness that no one could dream of having been one of the many things he loved about her, and what he misses. The day after she died he went home, home to his wife and children where he collapsed in Laura’s arms and cried himself to sleep that night. He too was mocked for being weak.

Then there was the photos of Bucky who was struggling to stand strong. ‘The world’s deadliest assassin cries’ was the headline on magazine’s for weeks or his personal favourite one ‘Winter Soldier more like Weak Soldier’ Like Nat he too was mocked because he wasn’t wearing all black but bright colours - hell they all were, it was what she wanted and whatever Y/n wanted, she got. Her death hit him the hardest. He loved her. He still loves her after 6 years of her being gone. ‘True love is what them two idiots have’ Tony would say. He blamed himself for what had happened to her, he had just turned his back for a second to hand a child to an agent when the whole building came down trapping her inside, he should of done more he always tells himself. Other than Steve she was his best friend, the one person who wasn’t afraid off his arm, the only person who could calm him down after a nightmare. She was the first person he opened up to and not once did she judge him or called him names, after he finished telling her all the things he remembered she got up and walked over to him and pulled him in for a hug, crying her heart out and apologising over and over again. The worst part for Bucky other than losing her was that he never got to tell her how madly in love he was with her.

“It doesn’t make sense” Steve was the one who broke the silence.

“Which part?” Tony asks.

“Everything. The attack, Y/n’s file, Ross wanting her to be dug up. Nothing makes sense”

“We need to figure this out. We can’t let them do this to her” Sam shakes his head, whilst trying to keep the tears he was fighting back at bay.

“Fury let me into his thoughts. They think they’re trying to find out how to recreate her genes.” Wanda finally speaks.

Once again the room went quiet. Y/n back story was still a bit of a mystery to the team. It was just something she never spoke about, they knew of the scars that covered the majority of her body and they did know of her mutant gene and that was it.

Y/n was exactly like Logan, better known as Wolverine. Though Logan’s a Beta level mutant whereas Y/n was an Alpha level, the only one of her kind. She had complete control over her abilities, her fighting skills were untouchable and unmatched. She was a part of the Weapon X program, when she was a young child she was taken from the orphanage she was placed at as a baby - and unknown to the team she was subjected to the worst abuse imaginable at the hands of The Facility. Unlike Logan though her Adamantium claws weren’t poisonous.

And what made Y/n even stronger was just like Wanda she had telekinesis abilities, though Y/n was a bit stronger than the other woman.

They didn’t know that Logan had found her when she was 16, with a chain wrapped around her neck that was connected to the wall, in a dark room that only had a toilet - nothing else. Logan had managed to get her out, which wasn’t easy considering she didn’t trust him and he wasn’t her handler. Logan kept her with him for roughly three years, moving around place to place, keeping each other safe. He was growing weak and unable to keep his promise to her, promise being he’d keep her safe. With a heavy heart he took her to Fury, begging the other man to take care of her. And since then she was a highly respected SHIELD agent and member of the Avengers.

They knew if Hydra were trying to recreate her genes they would have an army that would be unstoppable.

“But why dig her up? Hydra has her file so therefore they… they…”

“Tony? You okay?”

“Other than finding out my daughters grave will be disturbed, I’m fine”. He gets up and walks away.

One by one they follow his lead, leaving Bucky and Thor to blow out the candles - making the same wish as the previous years.

For her to come back.

The very next day they all gather at the cemetery and watched with a heavy heart as her grave gets dug up.

Three days later Fury gets a phone call “Fury you need to come to the Pentagon as soon as you can and don’t tell anyone”

“On my way”.

As soon as he got there he meets with Ross. “What’s all this about?”

“It’s not her”

“What are you talking about Ross?”

“Y/n… it’s not her in the coffin.”

“Hold on, you fucking lied to me you told me you wasn’t going to touch her!”

“Fury we brought a dead agent to the Pentagon for a reason”.

“A dead agent? Remember that dead agent saved you life how many times? Oh yeah six. Six fucking times she saved your arse Ross.” The anger coming off Fury made everyone in the room shift foot to foot.

“Sorry, we brought Y/n to the Pentagon for a reason”

“Why?”

“Simple. We wanted to make sure that they hadn’t gotten to her so we checked, and it’s not her. If-if you just look to your left Nick you’ll see the body that was in her coffin”

Fury stood there for a few minutes just staring at Ross before he looked over to where he had pointed.

There laid the decaying body of a woman, that was most definitely not Y/n.

“H-how is this possible?”

“We don’t know. It’s a possibility that Hydra got her body first, but it doesn’t explain why they would put this person in her place”

“Or she could be alive?” Fury asked hopefully.

“She’s not” Ross puts a hand to Fury’s shoulder “I checked the footage of the attack and it’s not her, I asked some of the agents that could talk if the person had claws and they all said no” Ross hated himself for calling her ‘a dead agent’ even if she was just that, but like Fury had said, she saved his life more times than one. When Y/n was introduced to him, he had to admit he was intimidated by her. But as time went on they gained each others trust and respect.

“Fury you can’t tell the Winter Soldier about this”

“James. His name is James and you honestly expect me not to say anything to the team?”

“We have no idea how any of them will react, especially him and Thor”

He hated to admit that Ross did have a point, there was no idea how the two men who blamed themselves for her death, would react.

Sighing “What are we going to do?”

“I’m not sure. Let’s just hope and pray that they don’t have her I guess”.

The screams of pure terror coming from civilians were muffled by the gunfire and explosions, the bodies of civilians and SHIELD agents scattered amongst the wreckage. Hydra made another attack on the Capital.

The Avengers were able to stop Hydra agents from pushing further forwards. But when the ground started to shake they all looked at each other.

Both Steve and Bucky gulped at the sight of the Uber Tank, memories of seeing it during the war flashed through their minds.

“What the fuck is that!” Tony questioned.

“T-that’s Hydras Tank - I thought I destroyed it” Steve answers.

The rain pour of gunfire came to a stop on both sides, agents of Hydra smirked, agents of SHIELD looked terrified. The rumbling stopped, the only sound that could be heard was rubble still falling in the background.

When the hatch came open they waited with bated breath. Rumlow.

Brock Rumlow climbed up and out of the tank, standing on top with a megaphone.

“Do you like her? She’s a real beauty isn’t she? Took us longer than I care to admit to rebuild her but here she is!” He laughs “Hey so the attack the other week on your headquarters, sorry about that. We just needed something, take a wild guess what” Not receiving an answer he sighs and tilts his head to the side “It was to get your friends file! Jesus do I have to do all the work around here?”

“I’ve got a clean shot” Voiced Clint from where ever he was at.

“Not yet” Steve says.

“Truth to be told guys we didn’t need her file, we just wanted to give you a heads up to what was going to come” Waving his arms towards to chaos “I knew if we took her file it would get your attention, and it did didn’t it. I also know that her coffin was taken to the Pentagon, and I also know that Fury’s been keeping a secret from the almighty Avengers”

“What are you talking about?” Steve shouted.

Rumlow chuckles “It’s about time you spoke Captain America, the secret is… how about I just show you huh?” Stomping three times on the Uber Tank “Little bird why don’t you come out so you can play”

The hatch comes open again, a figure all in black - very similar outfit that the Winter Soldier use to wear - emerged and moving their way to stand next to Rumlow.

“Our little bird here is even stronger than she once was. We gave her the serum and it just enhanced her strength.” Moving closer to the person he whispers something none of them could hear. “Look I’ve gotta go, don’t worry I’ll be taking this beauty with me so no need to cry. I’ll let little bird have all the fun, she deserves it” Placing a kiss to the side of the woman’s head, he pushes her off. “Good luck everyone, you’re gonna need it” Climbing back into the tank, the tracks started to rumble once again before leaving the same way it came.

Nobody moved even long after Rumlow and the Uber Tank had gone. That was until some Hydra agents started to drop to the floor with foam spilling from their mouths.

Little bird as Rumlow called her took one step in front of the other until she was roughly 100 feet on the Avengers.

Her hand slowly came up to her face, removing the bottom half of her mask then the glasses.

They couldn’t believe it.

They didn’t want to believe it.

“Y/n?”

Some Elriel evidence that doesn't get much attention.

First of all, if you're just having fun with your ships, you do you, man. I'm not here to rain on your parade.

However, there are so many people out there that are CONVINCED of Elucien/Gwynriel that I can't take it anymore and I have to throw in my two cents, so here we go. I'm gonna break it down by ship.

Elucien

There's no way, bro. And we can set aside the fact that if that ship were to sail it would be the same sort of love story as Nessian (reluctant mates).

The most obvious thing to discuss here is that Elain is clearly not interested. And neither, to some extent, is Lucien.

Let's look back to ACOWAR when Lucien talks to Elain in the library. He thinks about Jesminda. "[She] had loved him without question, without hesitation. She had chosen him. Elain had been...thrown at him."

Like Azriel, Lucien wants to be chosen. He's had it before and he sees the value in it. Unfortunately, he's a fae male and he has a hard time ignoring his instincts where his mate is concerned, so he keeps trying. Even though he can hardly stand to be in the same room as her. Whereas Vassa...

Elain, on the other hand, has absolutely no interest in a mating bond. After Graysen breaks her heart in ACOWAR, Feyre says, "Some sliver of hope had been shattered today. That Graysen would still love her, marry her--and that love would trump even a mating bond."

Obviously, that quote is in direct reference to her ex-fiance, but we see Elain reconfirm that desire in ACOFAS when she tells Feyre explicitly that she doesn't want a mate. I don't think it's personal to Lucien, I think she rejects the idea of being told who she should be with. Of being robbed of choice.

We learn from Nesta in ACOSF that their mother always said Elain would marry for "love and beauty". I think for Elain, a mating bond is not the same as love. Also, small aside, but who is constantly regarded as the most beautiful of the bat boys?

We haven't seen them have a conversation about their mating bond yet because why would we? That will happen in Elain's book (which is most likely next).

Gwynriel

I feel like this one is more dangerous to get into so I'll tread lightly.

Firstly, the majority of evidence for this ship comes from a bonus chapter that the majority of the fandom doesn't even know exists. Anyone who listens to the audiobooks doesn't know about it unless they poke around ACOTAR stuff online.

It doesn't make sense for an author to essentially change the entire trajectory of a story in a bonus chapter that most people don't know about.

Also, I think a big problem with the BC is that people read it after they finish the book, so it can feel like the most recent thing to happen in the story, but it's not. It happens about 2/3 of the way through ACOSF and a lot happens after that.

But before we get into that, let's talk about the shadows. People lose their damn minds that Az's shadows dance for Gwyn and vanish for Elain. The truth of it is that we don't know what dancing shadows actually mean, though. It's the first time we've seen it happen. However, we have seen his shadows vanish for someone other than Elain.

In ACOMAF, when Feyre meets the IC for the first time, they vanish for Mor. "Mor patted Azriel on the shoulder as she dodged his outstretched wing...The lurking shadows vanished entirely as Azriel's head dipped a bit."

So we know that the shadows vanish in the presence of someone Azriel has romantic feelings for, but we don't know what makes them dance.

Then, at the end of the BC (after he said he didn't even consider Gwyn to be a friend) he feels a spark of joy in his chest. Good. My shadow man deserves happiness.

But we know that it doesn't last because at the very next training right after Solstice, Neta comments that Az is "More aloof than usual" which clearly shows us that he is far more hung up on what happened with Elain than whatever may or may not be going on with Gwyn.

For her part, Gwyn becomes more comfortable around Azriel after Solstice. We love to see it because the poor girl has been so traumatized and, like Az, she deserves to be happy.

However, at no point does Nesta or Cassian suspect there to be any romantic connection between them. Not like how Nesta did with Az and Elain. ("His secret to tell. Never hers.").

And then at the climax of the book, Gwyn is thrown into the Blood Rite. At no point is Az even half as frantic as Cassian (which a mate would be) and he is way more preoccupied with whatever's going on with Eris.

At the end, when Nesta is getting ready for her mating ceremony, Gwyn tells her that she's not ready to leave the House of Wind again. Poor thing has been re-traumatized because of what happens in the BR and can't stand to leave the House. And y'all think she's ready for any kind of romantic relationship??

Nah, let Gwyn heal without the influence of a male.

Elriel

So I'm got gonna talk about the rescue, him figuring out she's a seer, giving her Truth Teller, or any of the usual stuff because that's been said and said and I have nothing to add to it.

Instead, I want to talk about what I believe their trope will be and share my evidence with the class. Cool? Cool.

Okay, so, I think we all know that if Elriel is endgame then their trope will be forbidden lovers.

Personally, I am of the opinion that the purpose of Az's bonus chapter was to confirm that for us, not suddenly change the entire trajectory of the story.

But forbidden lovers makes so much sense for Elriel because of what we've seen in the books, not just the BC.

Looking at ACOMAF again, Mor tells Feyre, "'Azriel's got no shortage of lovers, though, don't worry. He's just better at keeping them secret than we are.'"

Then, in ACOSF, when Feyre's talking about how Elain figured out she was pregnant first, she says to Azriel, "'I think she's got you beat for secret-keeping'".

So it's already in-canon that Azriel can keep his lovers secret very well and that Elain is just good at secrets in general.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE

A moment I never see anyone talk about is something that Cassian observes at a family dinner. "Elain had already departed with Feyre, claiming she had to be up with the dawn to tend to an elderly faerie's garden. Cassian didn't know why he suspected this wasn't true. There had been some tightness in Elain's face when she said it. Normally when she made such excuses, Lucien was around, but the male remained in the human lands with Jurian and Vassa."

Elain already has secrets the IC aren't privy to. So what's one more?

Twin Talk

Conversation between the twins had been sparse since the Harvestfest disaster. Nellie had invited Ida over, pleaded with her, really, when they first got home to talk about it however Ida wasn't ready. A few weeks later, Ida finally walked over to her sister's house to talk.

Nellie made them both vodka sodas without being asked. It wasn't going to be an easy conversation, even for them who forgave each other everything.

"We need to be honest with each other," Ida said.

"Agreed. I need to know that this conversation may get ugly, but we will come out the other side of it together."

"There is quite literally nothing that will separate me from you, Grumpy. I love you, even if I'm furious and disgusted with your daughter right now."

"Not even if your husband says you need to cut me off?"

"I will cut him off and take the kids before I cut you off. What did you do? Have a horrible phobia our parents ignored until it was too late? It's not like you aren't doing the work to get better." She took a sip of her soda. "However, I am not going to ignore the reality that your illness and the knowledge that her father was murdered the day she was born really did a number on your kid."

"You think I'm not aware of the burden my daughter bears? You think I wanted this? That I enjoy being trapped in this house and missing most of her life?"

"Did you even know she was sexually active?"

Nellie sighed and rubbed her face. "No. No, I didn't. I knew she had a score of boys she was entertaining, but I didn't realize she had already taken the next steps. She didn't talk to me before she did it."

"So, you don't even know if she just had her first time under my roof with my daughter's boyfriend, even though she has a score of boys to quote you?"

"It wasn't. We talked once she came home. He wasn't the first boy and it wasn't the first time."

Ida shook her head, made a disgusted sound in her throat and looked out the window. "Alice hasn't had sex yet. Your daughter had sex with Noel before Alice did. They were together for years."

"What do you want from me, Ida!? Prim is humiliated, her best friend hates her, she lost her friend group AND her second family. You want me to ground her? Put her in a fucking chastity belt?!"

"I want you to parent her for once instead of excusing away her terrible decisions just because you feel bad that you can't leave the house and her dad is dead."

Nellie felt like she was the one who had been slapped. Ida had no heat in her voice when she said it. It was simply facts. Nellie was too permissive because of her guilt and Prim was paying the price for it. It was an ugly truth laid bare on the table.

"That is...not fair," Nellie choked out. "I'm a sick single parent. You have no idea what it's like."

"Grumpy, I know it's different. My door has always been open to both of you. I've done my best for her, but Alice is my daughter and I am not Prim's mom. You are. She needs you to be a parent and I need to stand by my own daughter."

"I don't know how to talk to her about boys. I never liked them. We grew up with a very present father. I...don't know how to talk to her about the pain she feels."

"Maybe just start by asking her about what she's feeling. You should know all about secret pains, Nellie."

"I did tell her not to, you know," Nellie said as they hugged goodbye. "She came to me and told me that Noel was trying to get closer to her. I told her she needed to pick between Alice and Noel. She said she chose Alice. I just...I need you to know that I at least tried, Pushy. I did parent."

"Good. Keep doing that, then, because I can't do it for her anymore."

3 Lenses for Watching BvS

1. Gothic cautionary folktale

Our three main characters (Bruce, Clark, and Lex) form a triad reminiscent of Paradise Lost. Our God figure (Superman) must contend with the responsibility he shoulders and the expectations of others. The Devil figure (Batman) diametrically opposes him in theme, method, and stance, and consigns himself to taking down the God. And Lex fashions himself as the Man figure, who must use the Devil to conquer God and claim the world for himself. What's fitting is that all three see themselves as the heroes of the story (though it's important to note that none of them see themselves as good). Bruce and Lex switch roles in the final act because Bruce acknowledges Clark's humanity.

The haunting architecture, cool color scheme, smoky and damp scenes, and fusions of magic and science underscore this as a folktale by narrowing our focus almost claustrophobically on these characters and their interactions. The moral seems to be that pride and fear will lead to our downfall.

2. Women at the center

Both the meta text and the context center women, despite Superman and Batman often being coded as hypermasculine and thus presented almost exclusively for the male gaze. This film, however, presents its leads sensually, which caters traditionally to the female gaze. We see romance between Clark and Lois (not sex), we see soft contours when Bruce trains (not hard lines), we see gentle, consensual touches when Bruce dances with Diana (not grabbing). (Keep in mind that this is all heteronormative because we're talking in binaries.)

Within the text, the female characters are also the ones who further the plot. Lois uncovers the plot to frame Superman. At the end, she's the one who knows exactly where the kryptonite spear is (because she tossed it in the water). Diana foils Bruce's attempt to steal Lex's files, and in the end helps defeat Doomsday. And Martha (though not consensually) is the entire reason Superman and Batman come to a truce. Even Senator Finch provides a voice of reason that has to be snuffed out for Lex to proceed with his plans. (And I have to point out that Holly Hunt plays Senator Finch, who advocates for oversight of Superman's activities but rejects Lex's plans to research and use kryptonite. She also plays Elastigirl/Helen Par in The Incredibles, which is largely about supers having to go into hiding because they are liabilities, with the villain trying to commoditize superpowers to make everyone super. Though the sequel hadn't come out when BvS was released, it is about supers coming back in a more regulated way but then corporate greed takes over.)

3. A retelling of Gilgamesh and Enkidu

I got this idea from someone else's fanfic, and as soon as I remember the name of it I'll link it and the author. I provide specific quotes from the epic with gifs from BvS and Justice League here, but the long and short of it is that the gods created Gilgamesh to be this perfect being and ruler of men; then, because he was a menace, created Enkidu to be his friend/lover and rival. They're both excited when they hear about each other and fight when they first meet. Gilgamesh defeats Enkidu and wins his friendship and respect, and together they become unstoppable.

My raw notes are below the cut and go into more depth but are way less organized.

Modern gothic themes: location, dark/magic artifact, doppelganger/duality, deal with the devil, science used for evil

Other themes: Paradise Lost paradigm (God/human/devil), duality of man, defining "natural"

God/Devil:

this duality is set up in the juxtaposition of how Kahini describes Superman and the trafficking victims describe Batman. Kahini describes the sky cracking/opening and fire raining down (godlike imagery) and asks how he (Superman) decides whose lives matter. One of the victims says that a devil (Batman) has saved them and still lingers in the area, and shows that they're afraid to leave.

Later, it's revealed that Batman brands criminals which makes them targets by other criminals, and one of Kahini's neighbors says that Batman is angrier and meaner now.

Batman asks Supes if he bleeds (because if it bleeds it can die).

God/Man:

Lex positions himself as the icon of man and resolves to defeat Superman the god through wit and invention. He carefully maneuvers all the pieces in play to have his way, eventually causing Batman and Superman to fight, which is a win/win scenario for him. As he says, God this bends to his will. However, by creating Doomsday with a literal blood sacrifice (precursor to Superboy????) he makes a deal with the devil and thus becomes the devil character in this paradigm.

In Bruce's recognition of Clark's humanity, he reclaims the role of the man figure.

Man/Devil and the duality of man:

Bruce has to wrestle with his own demons to see clearly. He is aligned with Lex Luthor so much throughout the majority of the film that Lex eventually falls back to let Batman kill Supes for him. Also, Bruce's response to seeing Wallace get himself and several other people killed trying to hurt Superman in his own grief and rage is to double down, rather than take it as the cautionary tale it is.

Alfred warns him in the beginning that anger and helplessness will breed cruelty in good men, and Bruce is haunted by nightmares.

He keeps Jason's suit just outside his changing room as a constant reminder of what his mission has cost.

He claims that killing Superman will be the only thing in his life that matters, not, as Alfred points out, "20 years of fighting criminals," indicating he's lost faith.

Interesting stuff:

Lex knows who Superman and Batman are from the very beginning, as indicated by him inviting them both to the gala, and holds those cards very close to his chest until the very end of the film. He clearly wanted them to meet (and jokes that Bruce shouldn't fight Clark and suggests he and Bruce can work together on the future).

At the gala, when Clark asks Bruce about his thoughts on Batman operating outside the law, Bruce doesn't defend Batman. Instead, he uses a straw man argument that Superman is just as bad.

If Lois hadn't thrown the spear into the water, nobody would have known where it was. It likely would have been buried under rubble.

Batman and Superman seem to just resign themselves to being bad. Bruce doesn't argue for his goodness or seem to consider himself worth much; Clark seeks solace after being criticized for all the collateral damage and eschews Superman as an idealistic remnant of his father. Meanwhile Lois actually tries to absolve herself through action, namely investigating LexCorp.

Future of DCEU:

Injustice Superman as per Bruce's dream/vision of the black ops people wearing the El sigil and someone from the future telling Bruce he was right.

Superboy, prophesied by Lex trying to combine his and Kryptonian DNA.

A new Robin???, there's an insinuation that Batman has lost a Robin and if they're following the Beyond theme of having Tim become Joker then we could see either Terry or Damian; otherwise if it's Jason who died maybe we'll get Tim.

Major Farris exists, so Green Lantern (Hal Jordan specifically) may be coming.

We have 6 Justice League members – seventh could be GL or Manhunter????
