quite honestly, the peak of humor will always be a failed backflip
#something about watching the hubris of a person who so confidently attempts a great human feat only to get punched down by the gods of#of gravity…#the fact that someone just doing a backflip is inherently kinda funny and that that power when yielded with impeccable comedic timing result#results in unavoidable laughter#like the surrealism of just doing a backflip#and the failure to do one while being so confident#and it’s kinda beautiful in a way#one must be confident in their attempt to backflip in order to succeed#i think it really symbolizes the human spirit in a way#because part of the humor is that that get right back up and we celebrate them for that too#i’m sorry if y’all have never had the experience in person of standing in a circle with other people all hyping the person in the center up#the crowd tensions are high and everyone believes in this dudes ability in fact the dude even believes in their own ability#and the second they jump the crowd falls silent holding their breaths only to hear the thwunk of a body on the ground and then a synchronous#chorus of oughs of sympathy pain#followed by the immediate cheer regardless with the person hops back up#it is an experience that will bring you to the pissing yourself point of laughter#it’s a beautiful experience and quite honestly one of the most humanistic totems i have experienced#sorry i’m high and thinking about backflips#but tell me i’m wrong?#are there things that are just as as funny as a failed backflip? of course!#however! nothing will ever surpass the failed backflip#it speaks
