I extend my arms as wide as the ocean, let the sea of people crash through me like waves, coming home to the shore. I open my palms, as wide as my fingers could stretch, bury them under the sand and hold onto the grains my hand could grasp. I am the nipa hut standing still by the seashore on sunny days; people come home when night arrives but they always leave the next day. I used to love vastly and unboundedly like the ocean, with fingers holding onto the idea that love is burying your hands in the sand and keeping things you could grasp; love was coming home and never leaving the next day. Then, you arrived. You arrived like you were once lost and finally found home. You arrived but you left in the morning on the next day. You arrived but you left and my hands could no longer grasp yours. You arrived and made me see how vast is the ocean when I came searching for you because you never came home again. I extended my arms as wide as the ocean, just so you could escape from my embrace. I opened my palms, as wide as my fingers could stretch, buried them on the spaces in your hands just before I finally let go of them. I was the nipa hut standing still by the seashore on sunny days; now, I understand why you left the next day.
