yep hijikata saying we will search for gintoki is in one of the semi final anime eps. its better to read the manga for silver soul as a whole tho as they had to rush the anime version and cut out a lot with not as good animation. hijikatas expression in that scene also looks so much softer in the manga than the anime
I REACHED THAT BIT AND I WAS CLUTCHING MY HEAD AUGHHH they just had to drop that fact huh. i will be perfectly fine about this
And yeah! i figured I'd eventually read the manga anyways so thanks for the heads up! :D

O wow what a pleasant surprise brb fangirling in the corner cuz my fav blog/fanfic writer tag me aaahhhhhhh btwily
1. It's your birthday! What did you ask for and did you receive it?
uuuhhh it's been a long time since I've got a birthday gift, the last one I remember getting was a DSLR camera my dad gave as a early birthday present for my 15th birthday, I asked for a semi-DSLR like the one my aunt has cuz it'd have the same controls as a regular digital camera.... But my dad thought it'd be better if I'm accustomed to a professional camera what was he thinking idk 😂. O and my best friend gave me a stuffed animal (puppy) for my 16th and some of my other friends gave me some pretty stationaries, yeah that's the last birthday gifts I got
2. What was the last song or album you listened to?
TDC: Eternity from TXT's recent comeback!! I really loved their comeback, like everything is just *chef's kiss* they really keep raising the level every comeback just ugh I love them. Also Sara Bareilles -She Used To Be Mine
3. What is your go to snack when you're hungry or bored?
Well it depends on what my parents already have at home and what I'm craving, so usually it ends up being orange wedges or dates(and other sorts of dry fruits) for something healthy. If I'm craving something savoury or something borderline spicy, then nimki (controversial opinion:store bought nimki+Nutella= best thing ever, don't hate me for this) or chanachur ( jhal muri 🔥😋) or Mama noodles with poached eggs if I'm hungrier than usual (Google mama noodles BD), if I'm craving something sweet then chocolate (if my dad decided to buy some🙃) or Masala Cha (just Google "doodh pati chai" in case you're confused) and no it's not chai latte
4. What's your morning routine?
During weekdays (pre-covid) I'd *try* to wake up and get ready for school at least an hour before my mom cuz she's sick so I don't try to bother her too much. Also I happen to be very disoriented the 1st hour and a half after waking up in the morning, so imagine trying to make your breakfast and school lunch in that state yikes I don't even know how to cook MAMA NOODLES ALL THE WAYY~~~~. Nowadays, my mom and I wake up around the same time and make breakfast together, sometimes my dad helps too if he manages to wake up a bit earlier. Then after breakfast we do our own chores around the house. I'm starting to hate how everything changed cuz of the virus just.... ugh it ruined so many things for me.
5. What mythical/cryptid creature would you be?
uuuhhh idk really, Phoenix sounds cool maybe that
6. How do you interact with someone that you don't like?If they haven't really done anything wrong to me or mean with me then I try my best to be nice with them, cuz irl I usually judge people too harshly at1st glance . Since I don't want to be like *a bitch* to everyone I meet, I try to interact a little with them to see if my preconceived ideas about them were accurate enough to actually not like them. If they are, I still try to be nice to them, but I try to keep distance from them and not interact more than necessary.
7. How do you define a toxic person?
Someone who is fueled by hate and exhausts you emotionally, affects yours emotional and mental state negatively. A human equivalent of a blood sucking leech.
8. Have you ever been to a concert or fanmeet type of event? If not, would you want to?
Idk if it counts or not but I did go to a concert "technically speaking" but it non-kpop and school organized. Earlier in spring, our school hosted a "Battle of the Bands" after many years where bands from different local schools participated and 2 famous bands from our city were invited as guest bands to perform. This was my 1st concert and it was an open air concert, they literally built an actual stage on our basketball field and the audience were on the football (🇺🇸soccer) field. This became one of my best memories from my last year of high school ❤️ (even tho the pandemic really screwed me over but 🤷‍♀️ what else can be done right?)
9. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
I sort of do, cuz if you research and calculate well enough is does give an insight into people's characteristics and compatibility with other people really well, but I don't think it's a good for like predicting people's future and stuff, also I think astrology has more to do the seasons that are related to each of the signs rather than the constellations of your sun sign.
10. If you only had one sense (hearing, touch, sight, etc...), which would you want?
I can barely function properly with all of my working senses how'd y'all expect me to work with one???? But if I had to choose, it might be touch.
11. Who is your favorite celebrity or idol?
Sushant Singh Rajput (rest in peace 😔), Park Jaehyung of Day6 and Bebe Rexha okie I'll stop before this gets too long
12. If you could talk to your favorite celebrity for a limited time, what would you tell them?
If it's someone I really admire, for example Day6 / Stray kids, then firstly I'd try not freak out and have a normal conversation with them and tell them how their music has helped me and how as their fan I recognize their hardwork and I'm proud of them and their efforts and that I want to see them as they can possibly be in this lifetime.
13. I'm taking you out on a date and it's your choice. Where are we going and what are we doing?
This is assuming that we've known each other at least as friends/ as acquaintances so I'd go for a lunch or coffee date followed by movie at a theater. I want a date where we can talk to each other freely and listen each other's ideas, life stories, etc. Like really getting to know each other as much as possible.
14. Do you like sweet or savory foods?
Sweet!
15. Do you have any band merchandise or merchandise from any of your favorite artists? If so, what?
Nope, not yet. I'd prefer to buy stuff like that with my own money when I have a job
Tagging: (if you you don't want to do this it's okay) @phyziks @minniemao @wonpeeler @soft-black-teabag @baby-bumblebean @sllkicker @sungjinparkian @goodwriterwithbadhabits @taeguboi @moonriseth @tiernamente and if anyone else is interested, consider yourself tagged!

I took myself out on a date🎀 | Being my own boyfriend🎍
Tumblr media
I think the most important thing in our life is Self-love. Let's see what self love means ' According to the bbrfoundations, Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. '
Taking yourself out on a date doesn't make you look like you are pathetic in any way. It's one of the ways you are making the bond with yourself more stronger, you are knowing yourself in a much better way. In the past I have been in many situations where I have criticized myself badly for something or the other reason, which actually is bad for your mental health. So I want to make it up to myself. I will try to make the date as beautiful as much as I can for myself. I want to give a whole day for myself❤️
I have chalked down all the ideas about what I am going to do. I am excited for my date. Basically it is going to be a Cozy Home Date because the temperature outside is going to be anywhere around 35° C. And anybody who knows me might be knowing that I hate summers more than anything.
Tumblr media
Today is 29-03-2022, the day for my date. Let's get started.
I woke up at 5:15 am to see the sunrise. I checked online that the sun is going to rise at 5:32 am. And sunrises are beautiful like truly beautiful. I would like to quote a beautiful question said by "Unjaded Jade'' on Youtube "How are sunrises free?" That's my question too. How can this beautiful scenery don't cost any price? Generally we need to pay a good amount for beautiful things but this is free of cost.
After brushing my teeth, I exercised. I am not a person who goes to Gym [At Least for now, just because I don't have membership], I just did home workouts, even though I am a person who don't really like exercising but you gotta stay fit, right! After finishing, I changed my clothes to newer ones because I got sweaty. I took my medicines, applied some skincare products & made my bed.
After that I sat down to study - " Study Date". You might think it is boring but it was good for me considering that I like studying.
I took a coffee break in the middle with some 'Nimki ' - my favourite.
I took German & Korean lessons which I was putting off for a few days.
Ich liebe dich!! [German]
사랑합니다!! [Korean]
Both mean "I love you!!".
I was thinking of playing "Just Dance" for a few days but could not make out time for that. But I could do only two dances only i.e. "Icecream by BlackPink ft Selena Gomez" & "Say so by Doja Cat" [Yk I don't have that premium pack😬].
By the time I finished my dance session, it was already time for me to shower. I usually shower with a soap bar but today is a special day so I used Shower Gel.
After having lunch, I rested for a bit [Basically took a nap (¬‿¬) ]. And asked my mom to wake me up at 5:00 pm, I had to take some pictures😁 to keep this day as a memory.
After waking up, I washed my face and did make-up & went to my terrace to click some photos.
In the evening, my father brought fried dumplings surprisingly & it was soooo tasty. It was one of the tastiest dumplings I have ever had. So it was like an add-on to this special day. I ate the dumplings with my parents, whom I value the most in the world, under the summer breezy sky.
{Spending time with my loved ones is one my most favourite things to do.}
I read a few chapters of my new Harry Potter book "The Philosopher's stone". After reading Harry Potter I understood why people love Harry Potter books so much, it surely is lovable & addictive. I am definitely going to buy the 2nd series.
After dinner, I saw the movie - Encanto [Well, I love animated movies more than anything.].
And I went to bed at 12:25am. I went to bed 10 min earlier than usual. I guess that's a success, right!
Tumblr media
My last thought on this Date - "Self-Date" / Self care days are just a fancy term for 'take care of yourself' or 'make a little time for yourself' so that we can understand ourselves better. These cute small dates are actually really fun & refreshing to the mind & body. These kinds of self-care days are like the refresh button of the body-system. Self-care days doesn't always have to be really fancy or aesthetic as in putting a nice mask or drinking a glass red wine in your pretty rose-filled bathtub like we see on tiktok, instagram or pinterest, it can be as simple as a normal home movie watching or watching the night sky or baking your favourite cookies. And also it doesn't have to be a whole day long, even 5 mins or 30 mins or 1 hrs will work is enough for that "Me - time".

Know 7 Best Food in Train Options
There was something special about those childhood rail journeys when the train compartment's windows were not blocked by double glass, and the passengers sitting in the sleeper coach looked like a big family. How excitedly we looked forward to those visits when mom packed us special food to keep us covered! We still eat those foods on the train, but they lack the warmth and flavour they had when the mother served them on paper plates and sometimes on newspapers.
Tumblr media
Eating delicious homemade food on trains is no longer a dream. While travelling, you can still have your favourite dishes with the help of e-catering food delivery in trains.
Just download railway food apps to order food in train journeys like Food on Track, RailMitra, RelFood, Domino’s and order food on trains.
Enjoy healthy and delicious food while looking at the beautiful landscape passing through the windows, thanks to technology which has made it possible to order food in trains online.
7 Food in Trains You Can Order Online
Here are the 7 best food options in trains that make your journeys so special.
1. Idli and Sambhar
Tumblr media
If you love fermented foods and understand the immense benefits it brings to your health, then you must order Idli in trains.
It is a five-ingredient dish that originated in South India and spread to the rest of India. Idli is a soft and puffed steamed cake made from fermented rice and a lentil solution. They are one of the healthiest packed breakfasts of South Indian cuisine. Idli is easily digested, as rice and lentils (dal), are ground fermented, and then prepared by steaming the batter. These are served with chutney and sambar.
Idli is considered the healthiest food due to its unique preparation method, which increases the bioavailability of nutrients in urad dal and rice. By soaking the lentils, dipping in the slurry and fermentation, the nutrients value gets increased, and they are still preserved as the idli is cooked for a short time with steam. This is why it is suitable for everyone, from children and people on diet and the elderly, who generally have poor digestion.
2. Paratha and Curd
Tumblr media
Parathas are one of the most popular flatbreads in the Indian subcontinent that you can order in trains. They are made by cooking or baking whole wheat flour on a griddle and finishing with shallow frying. Parathas are thicker and tastier than Chapatis/Rotis.
Paratha can be eaten as a breakfast dish or as a tea-time snack. Perhaps the most common stuffing for parathas is mashed, spiced potato (aloo ka paratha), Sattu Paratha, followed by dal (lentils).
A paratha (especially a stuffed one) can be eaten with a spread of butter or chutney, pickle, ketchup, curd or raita, or vegetable. Some roll the parathas into a tube and eat with tea.
You can also order this delicious breakfast food on trains from RailMitra.
3. Dhokla and Chutney
Tumblr media
Dhokla is a traditional Gujarati cuisine. It is mainly made of rice and gram grains. It can be eaten for breakfast, as a staple meal, separately or as a light meal. Khaman Dhokla is a famous version of it, and coconut chutney is used with it. There are different types of dhoklas prepared with different ingredients and ratios of chickpeas such as Khatta Dhokla, Rava Dhokla, Khandvi Dhokla, Chickpeas Dhokla, Besan Dhokla etc.
4. Tamarind Rice and Sambar or Chutney
Tumblr media
Tamarind Rice is a common rice preparation in the South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Tamarind rice is cooked in oil with tamarind and jaggery and then mixed with spices and curry leaves. Tamarind Rice has a slightly sour-sweet taste. It remains fresh for two days. Therefore, many South Indian travellers carry home-made tamarind rice during long journeys.
You can make this instant ready dish and eat it at lunch. You can also serve tamarind rice with sambar or coconut chutney.
5. Namak Para
Tumblr media
Namak para, eaten in the Indian subcontinent, is also known as Nimki or Nimkin (or Namkeen). It is sometimes called Mathri in some parts of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Namak para is a ribbon-like pastry (made of refined flour, oil and water). It is prepared in pure ghee (clarified butter) or any oil with ajwain and cumin (jeera). It requires about 10 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to cook. Appearance, taste and texture can be compared to samosa pastry. Namak para is one of the favourite snacks to order in trains by most Indians.
6. Green Chutney Sandwich
Tumblr media
You can carry this delicious chutney sandwich with you during your journey, which is better than the street food you get. This sandwich can be prepared easily, and it will not take you much time. All you need are some braided bread slices - add some green chutney in between to enjoy spicy flavour during your trip. You can store it in an airtight container, and it will stay fresh for about 3-4 hours.
7. Paneer Bhurji
Tumblr media
Paneer Bhurji is another very popular dish that you can carry with you on the train. It is made from paneer and a mixture of spices. You can pack them with some rotis, bread, pav, poori or parathas. You can also use it as stuffing for your saddle rolls, bread rolls, or sandwiches. It is very easy to make before your trip. To make it even healthier, you can add some vegetables like peas, carrots and capsicum. Leafy greens will also work.

In a NUtshell
A visually beautiful, cool, restaurant that serves Tasty, urbanized, moderately firangized, not at all rustic food, from different regions of india – nowhere in comparison to the Bombay canteen (same concept). Great place to catch up with friends. Good professional service.
Address & other details: jamun
Meal for 2: ₹500 onwards
Cuisine type :  vegetarian & non vegetarian

I rate all the food items & then give a final overall rating which is a simple average of the individual item ratings. What the ratings stand for: 5 = Excellent, 4 = Very Good, 3 = Good, 2 = Fair, 1 = Disaster
Short description- in case u r in a hurry
We got to know of this restaurant from a fellow food blogger – Sneha Lata saikia. She has been going out to interesting places since lockdown was lifted. We have followed her trail at times.
The restaurant is situated in the beautiful, colonial architecture, all white, Lodhi Colony market. Parking was quite easy – not in abundance but there were 4-5 slots free when we reached the restaurant around 1.30 pm.
As we entered, someone checked our body temperature. There was an automated, touch-free hand sanitizer dispenser on the wall. It was the only eye sore in the stunningly beautiful restaurant. A good idea would be to of course have it, but mask it with something that goes with the theme.
The walls were like hand finished rural house walls.
The furniture was all retro, I guess hand made, now restored. So there was no uniformity in the furniture, as it would have been collected from different places.
The green creepers with red flowers made a statement. They just dramatically changed the look of the room. The iron grill windows added to the drama.
The cutlery looked traditional – metal.
The tablemats has the same theme of green creepers & red flowers.
Thruout our stay of 90 minutes, the Same retro Bollywood song was playing in a loop!!! I don’t know if this is planned or was an oversight. Whatever it was, it was very irritating.
The menu card was a piece of art.
Loved reading the note on the menu card
No Amex!!! In Lodhi market!!! Joke?
Detailed description – in case u hv the time to njoy reading:
As we sat, we got 4 chutneys & papad to munch on. loved 2 out of 4 – the orange one & the yellow one.
The yellow papad was outstanding.
Tamatar ki Chaat – the tamatar cud not be seen when the Chaat arrived. Small nimki (deep fried maida chips, dough made with adding ghee/oil to make it crisp & flaky) was what we cud see on top. A digging in with spoon revealed the crunchy tomatoes.
The Chaat came out Very interesting due to the play of contrast textures – crisp nimki, soft yet crunchy tomatoes, crunchy onions. The taste had a medley of sweet, sour, salt, chilly hot. The chaat was chatpata & hands wud not stop munching it.
Our friend who had eaten this chaat in Varanasi, on the roadside, said this one at Jamun was thicker than the more watery but more flavorful chaat in Varanasi. Rate it 4.25/5.
Mutton ghee roast was good but we had had this dish better in many places. The robustness of the original dish was missing. The rustic ness was absent. It was almost like A tamed circus lion – looked like lion but did’nt behave like one. Mellowed down. The mutton ghee roast at gusto by Sanhita is miles better than this. Rate it 3/5
Aam panna was tangy. It had a good balance of sweet, sour & salt. It had a bit of plasticky feel as it was a bottled drink & not freshly churned one. Rate it 3/5.
Jamun butter chicken was good. The chicken pieces were soft & nice. The gravy was smooth & creamy. The tanginess was a bit on the higher side. Sweetness balanced it. The one at Amar Jyoti restaurant was way better. Rate it 3.75/5
Ker sanghri kofte – we always like ordering ker sanghri if it is on the menu. We like the distinct texture of this dish which is a common dish in rajasthan. The kofte were good to taste on their own but the ker sanghri was lost. The thick gravy was good to taste. Rate it 3.5/5
Lal maas was very very urbanized, firangized, tamed, chained etc etc. usually this dish is rustic, robust, hot, full of flavors of the chilly that makes the gravy red, has a medium thickness, uneven consistency gravy. This one was contrast – not rustic, not robust, low flavors of chilly, thick gravy, smooth consistency. It was a good dish on its own but not the laal maas I have known during my multiple trips to rajasthan.
The meat was very soft & falling off the bones.
Rate it 3.75/5
Malabar paratha was excellent. It was super crisp on the outside & was perfectly soft in the middle. The infinite layers (exaggerating) were super enjoyable. Rate it 4.5/5
There were two options of sweets in the menu. None of them were made Inhouse. So we decided not to have desserts & go some place else for the same.
Overall rating of food at jamun averages out to 3.7/5
We Wud likely never revisit for a meal. However we might visit to treat our firang / NRI friends here, or anyone else who we think would not be able to handle the real thing. The Bombay canteen which has a similar theme (regional food from across the country) is way better in representing regional tastes & flavors. The difference between the two restaurants is as wide as the difference between a Honda city & a BMW.

COVID-19: The return of the tea time snack
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/covid-19-the-return-of-the-tea-time-snack/
COVID-19: The return of the tea time snack
It is 3.30 pm. Shreya N assembles rice flour, grated coconut and cumin, then puts water to boil. As she mixes the ingredients, she thinks about her grandmother, and how she too would go through the same routine putting together her piece de resistance, the ‘star appam’. “It was indeed the star at the tea table whenever it was made,” she says. Decades later, it is back on the dining table.
The current lockdown to tackle COVID-19 has brought the resurgence of the 4 o’clock tea, a ritual lost over the past few decades. Kitchens now stir to life in the afternoon, as people call their grandmothers, mothers and aunts for old family recipes. The dining table is the heart of the house once more.
While teatime has been hijacked over the years by cappuccinos and cookies, till a few decades ago, home cooks experimented with local, and often home-grown, ingredients to whip up inventive snacks.
Unnakkaya
In Kerala for example, besides the ubiquitous pazhampori (banana fritters), unniappam and parippu (lentil) vada, most families have their own snack recipes. Rahul Prasad, from Kozhikode, says the ‘muttayappam’ (a savoury pancake) his mother makes is a unique combination of rice flour, eggs, coconut, shallots and green chillies, which he hasn’t eaten anywhere else.
Love letter (Elanji)
Ingredients
Sugar — 1/2 cup
Coconut — 1 cup
Maida — 1 1/2 cup
Water — as required
Method
Mix the maida with water to make a batter (thin dosa batter consistency). Pour it just as you would a dosa on a heated pan. As it gets cooked, spread coconut and sugar mix and intead of flipping the dosa, roll it. Take off pan and serve hot.
The building blocks are often similar. A Malayali snack worth its salt must have coconut, jaggery and banana or jackfruit, says Sunitha Menon from Kanjiramattom. She’s making unnakkaya for tea, a delicious fusion of banana, coconut, sugar and ghee. The ‘love letter’ (also known as elanji) has also resurfaced: this is a wrap filled with sweet, grated coconut. Then there are the ‘madhura puffs’ (also known as pugada), a fried snack filled with grated coconut and sugar, popular in North Kerala in the 90s.
Meanwhile, Shobhana Subramanian from Chennai experimented with the very traditional, yet much-loved ‘ribbon pakoda’. She sought help from her mother-in-law, who is an expert in the dish. “She made the dough and I pressed it in the mould. The pakodas turned out really well — crispy and delicious,” says Shobhana. To get great results, she says, the mix of besan, rice flour and roasted and powdered urad dal should be perfect. “It is then seasoned with salt, chilli powder and asafoetida, and kneaded with a generous quantity of butter and heated oil.” Ideally had with a cup of filter coffee, this pakoda is an ever-green snack.
Ragini Kumar from Bihar is rediscovering two of the State’s favourite teatime snacks, spongy rosogullas and samosas stuffed with a spicy potato mash. Over the phone, from her home in Patna, she talks about how evening tea was a ceremony in Bihari families. Stating that while the rosogullas and samosas were staples, everyday, “There was always an additional namkeen, (a savoury preparation) or a sweetmeat such as ‘thekua’, a deep-fried biscuit made of flour, with flower motifs impressed on it, and ‘khaja’, a deep-fried flaky pastry.” The namkeens could be ‘ghugni’, stir-fried green gram or ‘nimki‘, deep-fried diamond-shaped short eats.
Hara channa fritters
Winter evenings were for ‘hara channa’ fritters, made with dried green chick peas, rice flour batter and onions; the deep-fried snack is still a popular favourite. “The water chestnut halwa, no longer common, used to be made until a few decades ago. Nowadays it is had during a fast,” says Ragini.
The tea is also important, she adds, saying that “the flavour, colour and body of tea is an important conversation point.” Tea time was also when families dropped in to visit, hence a large spread was always ready. Ragini says the lockdown has given her ample time to discuss these recipes with family members. “One thing we all plan to have post lockdown when we meet is the puffed rice-peanut mix, at least in memory of the lockdown.”
At Sweena Karnani’s home in Visakhapatnam, teatime has become all about scarfing down traditional Marwari snacks. Food certainly comforts, she says, adding that her menu for the day is the Marwari traditional ‘ajwain pakoda chaat’, ‘pyaaz ki kachori’ and ‘gudd ki papdi’. Plucking fresh ajwain leaves from her kitchen garden, Sweena combines it with spinach to coat it with a batter of gram flour and spices. “This is then deep fried and served with yoghurt and tamarind chutney. This ajwain pakoda is a famous snack of Varanasi,” she adds.
Late afternoons are filled with the sizzle of ‘punugulus’ wobbling in the frying pan at Jhansi Tripuraneni’s kitchen. This Telugu short eat is served with crimson ginger chutney for that spicy twist. “Piping hot punugulus make for a perfect chai-time snack,” adds Jhansi. Traditionally made with a batter of rice flour and black gram, Jhansi says these can be tried with leftover dosa batter too.
Gunta punugulu
Among all the snacks Instagrammer Radhika Raja has tried out during the lockdown, the ‘gunta punugulu’ — “made with less oil, and so healthier” — is her favourite. “These are made with less oil and are therefore healthier. The lockdown has given me plenty of time to make different versions of this traditional snack,” says Radhika. She prepares it by mixing boiled sweet corn, grated carrot, green chillies in dosa batter, sprinkled with jeera (cumin), salt and pepper. The batter is poured in the iron cast skillet to be cooked over a small flame till the punugulus turn golden brown.
Sreeparna Sarkar relives her childhood in Kolkata through the Bengali snacks she has been trying out every day. The highlight of her experiments has been the ‘korai sutir kochuri’, a deep-fried kachori, stuffed with mildly spiced, asafoetida-infused green peas. “Nobody can make this as good as mom,” she sighs, but is quick to add: “but thankfully there is FaceTime!”

The Bengali in her loves all things deep-fried, which she has been making with her mother’s help through video calls from Bolepur. Her lockdown teatime snack list includes aloo chop — mashed potato with spices, coated with egg and bread crumbs and deep fried in oil, fried ‘begunis’ (batter fried eggplant) and ‘peyaji’ (onion fritters).

Certain foods go beyond their scope; they kindle fond memories of home and relationships, says Jisha M R, a Malayali married to an Assamese, living in Delhi. When she first came across the ‘tekeli pitha’, she knew she had found love. “It looked like idli and tasted like puttu and since then, it has been my favourite,” she says. Pithas are primarily made from a batter of rice flour or wheat flour, which is shaped into a pouch and filled with sweet or savoury ingredients.
Tekeli Pitha
Tekeli pithas are essentially rice cakes steamed in a kettle or an earthen pot, from which it derives its name. Jisha aims to master the dish with help from her sister-in-law Malavika Goswami and mother-in-law Renu Goswami during the lockdown. “For me, food is about one’s family, emotions and experience,” she says.
