「 control 」
sirius black x fem reader
requested: no
summary: In trying to get Sirius to do his homework, you take control which he isn’t too fond of.
word count: 2k
warnings: 18+ smut, oral (m receiving), slight orgasm denial, cock warming, rough-ish sex, mentions of prior overstimulation, degradation, use of the name ‘pet’ and other various pet names (hon, baby, babe, etc), mentions of squirting & creampie, slight subspace if you squint
A/N: hey, hi, hello. it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here, and even longer since I’ve really posted anything. i’m super sorry my blog is so inconsistent. i’m trying to write more, but it’s been difficult w/ little motivation, busy class/work schedules, still trying to get used to writing with someone else in the room (or god forbid in public in btn my classes). basically, i’m trying, but it’s not going very well. have this beautiful sirius smut though while I try to write more. I had originally planned on getting a bunch of autumn/halloween themed content out to you guys this month, but it’s not going too well. hopefully you’ll all still like it if it’s a little past halloween when it actually gets posted. anyways, I love you guys bunches & i hope you’re all doing well Xx
“But this is so boring!” Sirius whines about his homework. He’s never been one to want to do his work, but that doesn’t means he’s not brilliant. Godric, he could easily be top of the class if he only put in the effort.
“Siri, hon, you need to get it done though.”
“But I don’t want to. Not right now at least. I wanna be with you.” He pouts.
“You are with me Sirius,” you chuckle. “But you need to get this done. It’s due Monday.”
“So? It’s only Saturday, darling. I’ve still got tomorrow.”
“If you do it now though, we’ll have all day tomorrow that we can spend together.” You try to persuade. Honestly, it was rather painful trying to get Sirius to do his work.
“But I want you now.”
You sigh, not even sure how to try to persuade him anymore. You’ve used practically every reason and encouragement you could. There is one thing though that you haven’t tried, and you have a feeling it might work.
“Alright then.”
“Really?!” He beams, shocked that you’ve given in so quickly.
You shrug, smiling lightly at him as you walk towards him. Once in front of him, you kneel down and start undoing his slacks.
He just watches you, not believing that you’ve gave in so easily. Usually he has to nearly beg you to do anything when he’s supposed to be doing something else.
“Oh godric, babe. That’s it.” He moans as you free him from his underwear and trousers.
You innocently smile up at your boyfriend as you lower your mouth towards his cock. If he wants you so bad, then you might as well give yourself to him.
“Oh fuck, y/n. That’s it, darling. Feels so good.” He praises as you kiss down his member and then back up before gently sucking on his tip.
Slowly sinking more of him into your mouth, you don’t miss the way he hisses at the feeling of your warm mouth. This man surely knows how to make you feel proud of yourself.
A few minutes pass as you bob your head against him, loving the weight of his cock in your mouth, even though it barely compares to the sounds he lets out.
Just as you can feel him start to reach the edge, you pull off of him, swallowing the spit that’s built up during the process, and wiping whatever’s dribbled onto your chin off.
“Baby, why’d you stop?” Sirius all but whines.
“You’ll see.” You smile, slowly standing back up.
With hazy eyes, he watches as you slide down your panties, carefully stepping out of them before dropping them haphazardly on the floor.
You teasingly run a hand down the front of your body until you reach the end of your skirt, delving your hand underneath the material to palm your own cunt to make sure your wet enough to take him.
“Fuck, darling. You know that cunt is mine. I should be touching it.” Sirius huffs, lazily reaching a hand out towards you that you only slap away with your other hand.
At this, you gain his full attention again. You don’t slap his hand away from what’s his. You don’t deny him anything he longs for. No, he’s the one in control here. Not you.
Sitting up some in shock at your action, he merely watches as you continue palming yourself, eyes fluttering shut every now and then. When you finally feel wet enough, you pull your hand away, your slick clinging to it which practically drives Sirius feral. What he’d give to shove his face down between your thighs, licking and sucking at your pussy until you’re screaming.
“You ready, hon?” You question, looking to Sirius for approval. At his careful nod, you climb onto his lap, straddling his thighs as your dripping cunt hovers over his angry cock.
He watches as you carefully grab his member, lining him up with your entrance before ever so slowly sinking down on him. As much as he wants to stay angry with you for slapping him, he can’t help but let his head loll back as his eyes shut at the feeling of your warm pussy enveloping him.
“Godric, y/n. Y’feel so good.” He mumbles, carefully trying to thrust up into you only to have you stop his with a tsk.
“Nuh-Uh, Siri. That’s not how we’re doing it today.” You chide, ignoring his gradually more irritated look.
“The fuck we aren’t.” He huffs, trying to buck his hips again only to have you lift up off him.
“No. I’m going to sit here all pretty and warm for you while you do your homework. Only after you get it done can you fuck me.”
“You’re kidding me. You don’t tell me what to do, baby. If I want to fuck you, my pretty girl, I’m going to fuck you.”
As he tries to thrust into you again you simply lift yourself up.
“I’m serious, Siri. You’re going to do your homework before you get to fuck me.”
At that, you simply lean back a little to motion him to start. You’re quickly letting out a small squeak though as he wraps his arms tight around your midsection, pulling you into his chest.
“I don’t think you heard me the first time, darling. If I want to fuck you, I’m going to fuck you.” He growls beside your ear.
“I’m in control here. Not you. It’s cute that you thought you were, though.” He teases, drawing a gasp from you as he nips at your earlobe.
“Siri-ohhh!” You moan as he slams his dick up into you.
“Don’t ever try that shit again, yeah? I tell you what we’re doing and you just follow orders like an obedient little pet.” He snarls, all his anger seeping out of him in the form of his hips pounding steadily into you and the words rolling off his tongue. This is the last time you ever do that again.
“Siri! Oh, fuck. Sh-it. I-it’s too much.” You cry, grasping onto him to try to keep any semblance of sanity.
“Shoulda thought of that before you tried taking control, huh?”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry. I-I won’t do it again. E-ever, I swear.” You sob, finding yourself quickly overwhelmed with the pace that he’s going at.
He doesn’t slow down though. No, you’ve pissed him off beyond belief and he’s going to make sure you learn your lesson. Even if the lesson leaves you unable to walk for a week.
“Fuck, it feel so good, siri. Feels so good! I-it’s too much.”
“It’s never too much, darling. You know you love being pushed over the limit. Remember the night I gave you orgasm after orgasm?” He taunts.
You can’t help but whine at the pleasure. It’s far too much, yet not quite enough at the same time. You can feel that you’re right on the edge, but you can’t quite fall over it.
“Please, Siri. Please.” You beg, although you’re not quite sure what for. You can’t tell if you want him to keep going or if you want him to stop.
“What, y/n? What does my little pet want?”
“Cum. Please. I wanna cum.” You cry, wanting to fall over that edge more than anything.
“You wanna cum? Do you think you deserve to? You haven’t been the nicest today, have you?”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry. So so sorry. Please let me cum. I need to cum.”
“You need to, huh? Then go ahead. Show me how sorry you are.” He smirks, slowing down his movements and loosening his grip on you slightly as you unconsciously fuck yourself on him, trying to find any release you can.
Crying in frustration, you can hear him chuckle as he watches you.
“You need some help, darling? Can’t cum on your own?”
Whining out a barely coherent ‘no,’ Sirius chuckles again before bringing a hand down to where the two of you meet, letting his fingers brush against your clit as you ride him.
“Ohhh, Siri…”
You try bouncing on him faster, trying to get him deeper in you’re aching cunt, but you quickly find yourself rutting against his hand in search of that final stimulation to get you over the edge.
“That’s it, baby. Doing so good for me, y/n.” He praises, helping you to rut against his hand ever so slightly by bringing it closer to you so you get more pressure when you rock against him.
Feeling you clench onto his cock with a grip like you’re life depends on it, he knows you’re dangerously close. Feeling a little bit nicer he starts roughly rubbing your clit, never letting you pull away from his hand as you still rock against him.
“Come on darling, I know you’re right there. Cum for me and show me just how sorry you are. Show me just how good of a pet you are by following my orders. Cum.”
With one last bounce on his cock, you can feel him hit that special spot inside you which has you creaming immediately with a scream of his name.
You can feel yourself gushing around him, but you don’t register that you’ve squirted until you come down from the high and feel the wetness all over the insides of you thighs.
“Holy Godric, babe. You feel okay?” Sirius asks, amazed by just how strong your orgasm was. You’ve never cum like that before.
“Mhm. Feel gr-eat.” You hum, thoroughly exhausted.
“I’d hope so. You fucking soaked my pants. Not to mention the puddle you left on the floor.”
“I’m sorry.” You pout.
“Don’t be sorry for the mess, darling. Fuck it was hot.” Sirius chuckles, hard again by the fact he could ever draw such an orgasm from you.
“You apparently like rough sex, huh?”
You lazily nod, your head resting against his chest as you nearly pass out in the exhaustion of it all.
“I love you, y/n. So much, darling, but don’t try to take control again, yeah? Not unless I give you permission.”
“Yeah. Won’t ever do it again, Siri. I promise.” You mumble. He nods, kissing your forehead as you quickly start to fall asleep on him.
“Come on, darling. Let’s get cleaned up and then we can lay down, yeah?”
You nod in response, not bothering to say a word as you yawn and slump against him.
“Alright, here we go, baby. Gonna lift you off of me, okay?”
“No, wait.” You mumble. “Want you in me. Wanna stay full of your cock.”
“I know, baby, but we gotta clean you up. Alright? We’re going to lift you off me in 1…2…3.”
As he pulls his dick from you, you can’t help but moan, nor can you stop the squeezing of your thighs as you start to feel his cum drip out of you.
“It’s alright, baby. You don’t need to hold my cum. If it wants to drip out, let it drip out.”
“But I wanna hold it.” You pout. “Wanna be full with your cum if I can’t be full with your cock.”
Chuckling he mumbles an okay as he presses a kiss to your forehead before he carefully fingers his cum back inside you, making sure to catch all of it dripping on your folds.
“Yes. Feels so good.” You mumble, barely with it anymore.
You only barely register the bath that Sirius places you In. Much the same with the soft cloth he uses to sponge you down, careful to not overstimulate you.
It’s not until you’re in a pair of clean undies of yours you’d left in Sirius’s dorm before and a soft, way-too-big sweater of his that you fully start to come back.
“Are you sure you’re okay, baby? I’ve never been that rough with you.”
“I’m good, Siri. I promise. I just really need a nap.” You say, punctuating the sentence with a yawn.
“Then take a nap. I’ll be here when you wake up, and maybe I’ll even have all my homework done.” He teases.
“I’ll be holding you to it, Black. I love you.”
“I love you, y/n. Get some rest, you need it.”
With that you close your eyes and quickly fall asleep beside your boyfriend as he begins work on an assignment.
Hey! I hope you guys all liked this! I’m honestly too tired/lazy to tag my taglist rn, but maybe later on I’ll do so. If you could please like & reblog though, that’d be great! ♥

A Lonely Star
So finally making a little Mizuki post. Stuff is subject to change. It may not be canon accurate.
And a reminder likes/follows come from my main: hanajimasama
Master list is now here: MasterlistKupo
Name: Mizuki Motte (now de Borel)
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Main job: BLM
Other canon jobs: RPR/BLU/ AST (in the later part of Heavensward)
Crafting/gathering: BTN/ALC/WVR
Age: 32 (as of Heavensward. Keeping track of time is hard.)
Chocobo: Iskander
Long post
The past: in summary.
The Steppe:
Mizuki was born on the Azim Steppe to the Arulaq tribe. She's the oldest of four. As per their tribes traditions, the eldest of the family would become a reaper to protect their tribe and guide their spirits when they died. Mizuki didn't want this. She skipped her training to explore the Steppe. Which got her into a lot of trouble.
She has a chance meeting with a dragon that spurs her desire to learn magick.
Eventually she is forced to partner with a great spirit (voidsent) and that year on her thirteenth summer. She takes part in the Nadaam and the influx of loud shouts/screams, fighting, sent Mizuki into a melt down and she unleashes a powerful spell that silences the Steppe and claims victory for her tribe: the only time they would.
An argument occurred with her father and he told her to get out. She is picked up by chance by Camélia a great sage who took her under her wing.
She meets Y'shtola during her 13-14th year (need to figure out how old she was during the Calamity) She is then taken to Sharlayan during the panic of the summoning of Bahamut.
The Sharlayan Years: 14/15? - 20/21? <due to change
Mizuki spends all of her years studying. She's very quiet and withdrawn during this time. Mizuki takes an interest in botany during a trip to Labyrinthos. Which links to her learning alchemy. If she couldn't learn the healing craft of her master, perhaps this would be just as good! She could help people this way. (it didn't help)
She joined the Studium choir, in hopes it would make Camélia proud.
Mizuki works herself into the ground: a lot. She is at the top of her classes and publishes several theses. One Camélia hates the most is: about how Mandragora can help keep the land healthy (will think of a good title)
another was: the origin of magick.
The early years of adventuring/ARR
Mizuki teams up with Cyneweard and Ghyslain two wildwood Elezen. They sought treasure and status. Mizuki was fresh out of Sharlayan and they thought having a renowned scholar of Sharlayan would help them. It did not. A few months in Cyneweard dies in a dungeon.
Mizuki gives up adventuring for now. Goes to Ul'dah and further studies at the thaumaturge guild and picks up Blue Magick which helps earn her some extra gil. She makes a name for herself within the guilds and a few years past she finds herself being swept up into the Scion business. Y'shtola is overjoyed to see her again.
I will add more!

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Review
Let me tell you, my first HM game was Back to Nature, around that time I was a child that didn’t understood English, then came the GBA version, which was nice, but then around 2008, it came what I can call “My dream” the FEMALE version of that GBA game, I could finally be a girl and marry a guy. Claire and Gray became my first shipping, the reason I started to draw and study animation.
I have been a fan of HM and SOS for years now, I have played all the games, some I love, some I don’t care for. And Mineral Town was always my favorite, my childhood, but then I played the PSP port called Boy and Girl, which was BTN and Female BTN, a game I had never had the chance to play because it was in Japanese before. In my PSP, I played BTN again after some many years, this time as a girl, and gosh, it was an experience, so many things, new fun, cute and interesting things, so much content that wasn’t in the GBA version. It was missing in some aspects, especially the game ending in marriage, but it was so much fun. It gave me so much canon information to use in my fan fictions.
Then it was announced last year, a remake of Mineral Town for Switch, I was
excited, my childhood game in a modern console. The reveal of the new characters designs were coming out, everybody had a opinion about them, some like them, some didn't. And after so long, the game came to the Western. I was so ready to play it. And I did, and honestly, it was disappointing.
The graphics were fine, they were cute and very similar to the GBA version, I was hoping for more proportionate designs, since the Switch is a powerful console, but it was fine. But then not only the style was the same, but the dialogues were the same, bit by bit. They gave us all this drama with the confession flower and boyfriends/girlfriends thingy, but the dialogue didn’t change one bit after that. I already made my opinion about that in a comic. It was the first red flag.
I played Trio of Towns, the last installment, I knew what the saga of HM and SOS was capable of, how was the confession and reverse confession, how the dialogue and attitude of your partner would change, how they would treat you after winning or losing a festival, how it was a fact you be together at romantic festivals. I was hoping for that in this rendition of Mineral Town, but nop. No changes at all in the characters, the same dialogues as the GBA version, nothing new at all.
You remember when you would use certain clothes and people would comment about it? That was nice. All that new dialogue and characterization. Well, not in this game.
Well, after that, ok, I was fine, no big deal with this lackluster romance, but then it came this: Starry-night festival in Winter 24.
This made my blood boil, in this pursued to be loyal, a copy paste remake of the GBA, that they leave this stupid posing, leaving the characters standing up behind the chairs. WTF? This is a Switch/PC Game, a 2019 game with 3D models, and they just leave it like this. I can tolerate this in the GBA version, those are sprites, a game from 2003, but we are not in 2003 anymore.
I have seen the characters in previous games, sit down and have lunch. I know it is possible, it is the same company after all.
The Switch is a powerful console, there are not limitations and excuses for this laziness.
I commented this on Discord, and the excuses they gave me to defend this:
“It was the developers intention to homage the GBA game.”
Excuse me, but nostalgia is not a excuse to mediocrity.
Some other told me because “They were in a time limit” Like making the models bend their legs and move the chair is going to take them 3 months or something.
Other told me “You don’t know about 3D Modeling” I study animation, I have made 3D models and made 3D animations. My internship was in a Game Company. I know how this works.
They used LGTB and nostalgia baiting to cover their laziness and mediocrity. I have played indie games with much more work put into them, and you can be gay as well.
I love Mineral Town, it was my childhood, but I can’t be blind by nostalgia and ignore all the laziness. Specially because I know how capable they are, all the amazing game mechanics they had implemented over the years. I was hoping for a Mineral Town with all these amazing new mechanics, not a re-skin of the same game, with the same stupid mistakes.
I have seen games and movies being guilty of nostalgia baiting and criticized a lot, so I don’t think SOS Friends of Mineral Town should get a free pass. I had high exceptions, because I knew what could be done, I have seen the progress of HM/SOS franchise.
I know a lot of you are enjoining the game and reliving your childhood, I’m not telling you to stop loving it or hate it, I myself don’t hate it, I just feel disappointed.
But remember to never let yourself be blind by nostalgia, this is a goddamn Switch game, from a company that has been making these games since the 90′s.
If you want me to review the rest of the game, well, it’s the same as the GBA version, with the same festivals, events, mechanics.
In the end, I gonna finish it, since I already paid for it and want to see if there is some post marriage event (hopefully). But I’m going to get my revenge. Some day.

Evil Plot Kitten Two? Who are they, they sound beautiful, tell us more?
This is also known as the fic that shant be named. Why is it called that? Because it’s an Endgame AU and, apparently, no one wants/is interested in those (which makes no sense to me because if you hate it why not read something that redoes it?) because any time I try to talk about it anywhere I never get any traction or feedback. It occurs to me it might just be me too that is uninteresting. Anyway - the evil plot kitten posited what would happen if Steve is the one caught up in the Snap/Decimation rather than Bucky, and the fic would track Bucky's reactions and how he deals with the five years until Scott is freed (and the time travel would then happen differently and there might not be the battle at the end because everyone is making different choices). Things the fic will include – a slow burn friends with benefits with eventual feeling realization btn Clint and Bucky. Bucky & Okoye being buds. Serpent Society or Zodiac as baddies maybe? Someone rises up eventually anyway for the New Avengers to deal with. Bucky-Cap. BUCKY-CAP. Other assorted stuff and things that I am blanking on cause of of nerves. And a snippet - Bucky has gone down to the gym because of bad dreams, only to find Clint there using the shield - and he’s almost as good at it as Steve was. This is within only a few months of the Snap I believe. -“Me? Captain America?” Barton barked another laugh out as he stepped past Bucky to unsnap the shield and put it into a case. “I'm not really Captain America material if we're being honest. But that shield didn't belong to Steve, it doesn't belong to Tony either – it belongs to the United States government,” he patted a reverent hand on the cased shield before slipping it into a storage locker built into the wall and turning back to face Bucky. “And if you think those meddling morons aren't going to try to assign some idiot to be Captain America before too long you're not as smart as everyone makes you out to be.”
Bucky narrowed his eyes and stepped up into Barton's space. “You saying I'm stupid, Barton?” And huh, Barton was taller than him, he'd never noticed that before.
“Nope,” Barton said and he was wearing a little smirk that Bucky really wanted to wipe off his face. Like the asshole didn't care that the Winter Soldier was standing nearly on top of him. “What I'm saying is the government is going to try to meddle with us like they always do.”
“Us.”
“Yeah, the Avengers,” Barton said and Bucky blinked because he didn't think he was considered a member of the team – wasn't sure there really was still a team to be honest - but Barton just kept on talking. “Soon as they get their footing back they're going to do something. Now I might not be Captain America material but, I'm a helluva lot better than most of the potential alternatives.”
“Most of the potential alternatives?” Bucky kinda felt a little stupid repeating half the shit Barton was saying, but he had no idea where the guy was coming up with this stuff.
“Well, yeah,” Barton shrugged and Bucky was keenly aware of how close they were when the movement nearly caused them to brush together. He didn't move though, holding his ground though he wasn't sure what exact point he was trying to make, standing so damn close to Barton. “Kinda thought you might take up the shield to be honest. I mean,” Barton had the audacity to blink all innocent, “Isn't that why you're so ticked off right now? Me stepping on your toes?”
Bucky breathed audibly through his nose; he could smell Barton's sweat as well as his own and he wondered why he was noting that. “I'm a little more than ticked off right now,” he said, more softly than he intended as he tracked a bead of said sweat running down Barton's neck. “And I,” he breathed out a sigh, “I don't really know why I'm so angry,” he finished, drooping a little in his honesty. He'd been mad on Steve's behalf, but that wasn't the whole of his anger now was it?
“Ah,” Barton said, making another little noise of understanding and shit, but Bucky found that annoying too. What was wrong with him right now? “C'mon,” Barton said, stepping out of the way but somehow still knocking their shoulder's together in a way he probably meant as friendly when he walked past Bucky to move towards the other side of the gym. “You need to spar.”
“The hell?” Bucky muttered, though he found himself pivoting smartly and following Barton over to the mats where everyone sparred. Everyone...he snorted at himself. Like there were all that many of them left.
“You should stretch,” Barton said as he sat down to remove his shoes.
“I never said yes to sparring with you.” Bucky replied, crossing his arms over his chest. Barton's eyes flitted up to meet his and his hands paused half-way through removing the first shoe. He grinned (and Bucky wondered why the fuck he was seemingly always grinning) and let go of the shoe to shrug.
“You came down here because you couldn't sleep, ergo you needed to let off some steam. I'm just offering to help you out is all.” He reached back down and tugged off the first shoe. “I'm a big boy that can take care of himself, if you're worried about all that super soldier serum stuff. I sparred with Steve more than a few times and even beat him on occasion.”
Steve.
Bucky was down there because of Steve – because he couldn't stop dreaming about him – and almost unconsciously Bucky began a series of stretches to limber himself up.

How Old Is Dante (Devil May Cry)?
With the Devil May Cry 5 game release we now have more information, some of which has retcon a few things, and a confirmation about one of the character’s ages too. We also have the final placement of Devil May Cry 2 in the timeline, which has been quite annoying to figure it out since many sources kept conflicting with each other.
Obviously, that means my old post of Devil May Cry: How Old Is Dante? needs to be updated. So with the new information Dante’s ages would be...
Devil May Cry 3 Manga = 18 years old
Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening = 19 years old
Devil May Cry 1 = 28 years old
Devil May Cry: The Animated Series = 28 - 30 years old
Devil May Cry Vol. 2 Novel = 33 years old (these events happened in the same year, just several months before DMC2)
Devil May Cry 2 = 33 years old
Devil May Cry 4 = 38 years old
Devil May Cry 5: Before the Nightmare = 43 years old
Devil May Cry 5 = 44 years old
In DMC5, Patty Lowell is confirmed to be 18 years old (on the 3rd of May -- or that was just when she was having her birthday party) in the game. So that would mean she was 8 years old in the anime for that to be possible.
That would also mean that Nero was 14 years old during that time, making the anime occur 5 years before DMC4. This matches up with Hideki Itsuno (the director of DMC2, DMC3, and DMC4) said about Nero being 19 years old in DMC4 -- the same age that Dante was in DMC3. And it would be another 5 years after that game that DMC5 occurs, which would make Nero currently 25 years old. But in DMC5:BtN, Nero would’ve been 24 years old since this novel takes place the year before it.
In the prequel novel, Devil May Cry 5: Before the Nightmare, it is set before the events of DMC5. It confirmed that Dante returned to Vie de Marli one year before the start of DMC5, and Matier scolds him for not visiting her or Lucia for 10 years since DMC2. That would make Dante 43 years old at the time of DMC5:BtN. Also, Nico discusses Fortuna's destruction 5 years ago. She moves in with Nero and Kyrie afterwards, and then after a year, Nero's arm get stolen in DMC5.
UPDATED: Okay, I think this one is the most accurate so far. HERE

THE DEGENERATE’S GUIDE TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL TV WATCH ‘EM UPS 2021: WEEK ONE, TIME FOR THE GOOD STUFF
This is by far the best “opening” slate of games we’ve had in at least a couple of decades. The great thing about having a bunch of cross-country, inter-conference, top 25 matchups in the first week of the season is that we’ll all have a clear expectation of every team involved and will mostly have those ideas flipped over by the end of the month. Answers to questions but wrong, you know?
That’s ok because, really, the whole college football season is that same cycle over and over. And we love it, don’t we folks? We love it more than dying unfulfilled and for no reason with nothing at all to show for it in the larger scheme of the world. College football is a metaphor for life which is just an elaborate metaphor for college football.
Blah, blah eastern times and websites. There have already been approximately one million games played this week with a few FCS over FBS upsets and, upsettingly enough, Kansas was not one of the losers. Whooooooooo! Let’s get it on!
Saturday, September 4
Fordham at Nebraska 12:00pm BTN
Fordham +46.5 might be the safest bet you can make this week.
ULM at Kentucky 12:00pm SECN
What can you say about Kentucky being favored by 31 over anybody except that it seems incredibly overconfident. They aren’t ranked in the top 10 so I assume they either skip Bama this year or don’t play them until October.
Temple at Rutgers 12:00pm BTN
In real time the scheduling is fine but these first handful of games feel like a punishment for me crowing about the general quality of this week’s matchups.
Tulane at 2 Oklahoma 12:00pm ABC
These are the games that come back to win Heisman trophies for Oklahoma QBs later in the year. If the Sooners don’t beat the spread (-31.5) they probably shouldn’t keep their ranking next week.
Holy Cross at UConn 12:00pm CBSSN
If you can still get UConn -4 anywhere don’t. Holy hell that’s bleak. 4-points at home against Holy Cross. It’s getting real close to time to turn the lights off on the Huskies football program.
Colgate at Boston College 12:00pm ACCN
If the Toothpastes can just score more than 7 they will have outperformed expectations. If they score more than 7 and hold BC under 60 they will likely have beaten the spread. Chomp ‘Em, Colgate! (I don’t think that’s really their motto but it should be.)
Western Michigan at Michigan 12:00pm ESPN
I could’ve sworn Michigan played last week and lost but maybe I’m just used to that.
Stanford vs. Kansas State (in Arlington, TX) 12:00pm FS1
There have been times over the last 25 years where this would be a matchup befitting of a premium neutral site but this is not even close to being one of those years. Definitely not in week one, at least.
19 Penn State at 12 Wisconsin 12:00pm FOX
Nobody will ever make it make sense that Penn State still has a football program, let alone a football program that puts some of the best athletes into the NFL year after year in a post-Sandusky world.
Army at Georgia State 12:00pm ESPNU
I can’t be the only one that thinks if the troops put together a football team with the best training and facilities available they’d still get their asses handed to them week after week like they do in illegal wars of aggression.
Fresno State at 11 Oregon 2:00pm P12N
Kayvon Thibideaux didn’t make the list of “freaks” this year in the Athletic and I can’t tell if I’m just wildly overrating his abilities or if there was some weird oversight due to him announcing that he’ll be playing more standing up on the outside than with a hand in the dirt. Anyway, he’s fun to watch when he’s just pinning his ears back and rushing the QB and Fresno State throws a lot so this could be worth a few minutes of entertainment in this weird in-between time slot. Though, be warned, early kickoff Pac-12 games do tend to suck.
Lafayette at Air Force 2:00pm Stadium
Air Force favored by 42.5. You don’t see that often.
Rice at Arkansas 2:00pm ESPN+/SECN+
A beautiful reminder of the old SWC. Nothing else. And that’s probably not enough reason to watch this. Arkansas is probably pretty bad but I have trouble believing Rice is going to keep it within 20 of anybody on the road.
17 Indiana at 18 Iowa 3:30pm BTN
B1G’s plan is to prime the polls early so their teams seem better later on. I’m not falling for it. These are two shit teams that will only look good within the context of the B1G.
14 Miami (FL) vs. 1 Alabama (in Atlanta, GA) 3:30pm ABC
Miami’s starters are about as old as an average NFL team’s and they’re still gonna get run over by the Bammers. The Canes do actually have a decent stock of pro prospects right now but a lot of these guys were on the field against UNC last year watching as the Tar Heels put up 3,492 rushing yards. So it’s a bunch of middle aged mid-round prospects against a shiny new crop of future stars. Bama should just get an auto-bid for the playoffs at this point until they prove they don’t belong anymore. I’m calling it now: it’s fine, I had a bunch of chores to do around the house anyway.
Marshall at Navy 3:30pm CBSSN
Ah, the AAC. So dear to my heart. I hated everything Navy did last year but last year was a mulligan anyway. This year might be, too, in the end but for now we can pretend it’ll go off without a hitch.
Miami (Ohio) at 8 Cincinnati 3:30pm ESPN+
The Bearcats are the darling of mainstream coverage if you’re looking for a playoff Cinderella. Which usually means they’ll lose three games in the regular season and won’t even make it to their conference championship.
West Virginia at Maryland 3:30pm ESPN
Wait, is this a conference game now? A future conference game? I won’t be paying close attention to realignment. This should be a rivalry of some sort but I can’t quite put myself at ease with WFV in the ACC and Maryland will never belong anywhere but the ACC.
UMass at Pitt 4:00pm ACCN
Pitt being favored by 35.5 feels like a trap.
Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State 4:00pm ESPNU
LaTech must be sliding backwards as a program judging by the +23 line. I got nothing else here.
Montana State at Wyoming 4:00pm ESPN+
I’m intrigued by the screaming amateurism that this game projects. I won’t actually watch it but the way it will look like a 4k remaster of a game from the 60s is appealing on a spiritual level.
Central Michigan at Missouri 4:00pm SECN
Fuck Missouri.
23 Louisiana at 21 Texas 4:30pm FOX
The line has moved heavily towards the Ragin Cajuns since it opened. Texas is still a solid favorite but there is something here that I have not been paying attention to so if you want to dig a little you might find some relatively easy money.
Northern Iowa at 7 Iowa State 4:30pm ESPN+
Iowa State, #7 in the preseason. What a weird fucking time we live in.
San Jose State at 15 USC 5:00pm P12N
Clay Helton is still the coach at USC. That’s crazy. This program has been sleepwalking through the last decade and they’re still able to pull a #15 ranking because they only have one or two teams on their schedule with a relatively equal talent level.
Gardner-Webb at Georgia Southern 6:00pm ESPN3
Campbell at Liberty 6:00pm ESPN3
Liberty’s QB is this year’s unheard of draft prospect that every self-styled draft expert/prognosticator on god’s green twitter is touting as a first round pick. I don’t have an opinion on him because I generally feel gross watching Liberty do anything.
Nicholls at Memphis 7:00pm ESPN+
Go, Tigers, go. I don’t actually have any expectations calibrated for this year’s Memphis squad. I saw Kenneth Gainwell made a 53-man roster for the Eagles and couldn’t remember him being anything other than a freshman. Time is cruel.
Missouri State at Oklahoma State 7:00pm ESPN+
If Oklahoma State can’t hit for at least 60 in this game they aren’t real and I hate them.
Monmouth at Middle Tennessee 7:00pm ESPN3
Ah, Monmouth, Monmouth! These chips are too spicy!
Texas Tech vs. Houston (in Houston, TX) 7:00pm ESPN
The future of the Big 12 is the SWC, as it always should have been. Well, I mean, aside from the SWC’s tentpole programs. Ah, fuck, it’s so weird and stupid.
Syracuse at Ohio 7:00pm CBSSN
I still love CBSSN but no thank you.
Southern at Troy 7:00pm ESPN3
Fading fast.
Oregon State at Purdue 7:00pm FS1
Fading faster.
Norfolk State at Toledo 7:00pm ESPN3
I’m evaporating.
Central Arkansas at Arkansas State 7:00pm ESPN3
Eyes are closing.
Eastern Illinois at South Carolina 7:00pm ESPN+/SECN+
Snoring softly.
Baylor at Texas State 7:00pm ESPN+
Snapping to just to talk about how evil Baylor is in general, aside from the horrifically cursed athletics department.
Akron at Auburn 7:00pm ESPN+/SECN+
Back to sleep.
Abilene Christian at SMU 7:00pm ESPN+
Snoring loudly.
5 Georgia vs. 3 Clemson (in Charlotte, NC) 7:30pm ABC
Ah, shit, here we go! It is party time! On paper this is an insanely good “opening” week matchup. But this is also the game that I most had in mind when I wrote about how kind of useless this week’s games are for the season going forward. Clemson is in the DJ Uiagalelei era now and even if he’s better long term than I suspect him of being, he’s still bound to be raw against a Georgia team that might actually have more overall talent than Clemson right now. But if he shows out he’ll be an immediate Heisman darling until he starts throwing lawn darts for a few weeks in a row. It’s fun but meaningless.
NIU at Georgia Tech 7:30pm ACCN
Trash.
Northwestern State at North Texas 7:30pm ESPN3
Crap.
UTSA at Illinois 7:30pm BTN
Garbage.
William & Mary at Virginia 7:30pm RSN/ESPN3
Funny if William & Mary wins but probably just miserable all around.
Florida Atlantic at 13 Florida 7:30pm SECN
I don’t often fall into the trap of daydreaming about mascots fighting but an owl fighting an alligator is too good to pass up. There are owls of some sort pretty much everywhere in the world so they have to cross paths in nature with a gator every so often. If you have any videos of an owl winning these fights, please share them.
Southern Miss at South Alabama 8:00pm ESPN+
Hell, yes. I can’t fully explain why this shitbox gets me a little bit excited but it does.
Kent State at 6 Texas A&M 8:00pm ESPNU
Always root against Jimbo. Don’t always bet against him but definitely always root against him.
Montana at 20 Washington 8:00pm P12N
Now this is interesting brand building to me. I don’t think there’s much here for UDub other than an expected win but Montana has been a pretty good team in I-AA over the years. If they can run closer than the +24 they’ve been given it could boost their profile quite a bit.
Duquesne at TCU 8:00pm ESPN+
I’m not falling for this one.
ETSU at Vanderbilt 8:00pm ESPN+/SECN+
Vanderbilt is a 21-point favorite and I am telling you, gentle reader, that is a mistake.
16 LSU at UCLA 8:30pm FOX
UCLA hasn’t been a top talent draw on the West Coast in the last 20 years for whatever reason. This is what I meant by USC sleepwalking. It feels like, to me, going to school in Westwood and playing home games in the Rose Bowl would be a bigger draw than University Village and the Coliseum. But maybe being able to walk to games is important to recruits. Whatever, LSU is going to fuck the Bruins up right there in the Rose Bowl so that’s not gonna help anything.
Bethune-Cookman at UTEP 9:00pm ESPN3
This is as close to a bodybag game as UTEP can get, at least where they’re the favorites, but I will say this for BCU: their uniforms are usually pretty cool.
New Mexico State at San Diego State 10:30pm CBSSN
This is that real MWC shit. Lovely to me for reasons I have not been and never will be able to articulate.
Arizona vs. BYU (in Las Vegas, NV) 10:30pm ESPN
This game is Mormon as hell. If you know any Mormon football fans then they probably have an interest in this game. Bless ‘em, nobody else will have an interest but readers of Moroni sure as hell will.
Nevada at California 10:30pm FS1
Hmm. Maybe. I doubt I can sink much time into it but I do like the overload of different dark shades of blue threads involved here if nothing else.
Utah State at Washington State 11:00pm P12N
And here we have a ton of red, depending on alternates and whatnot.
Portland State at Hawaii 11:59pm Spectrum PPV
A historic showcase for the run & shoot but I don’t know what either offense is supposed to be right now.
Sunday, September 5
9 Notre Dame at Florida State 7:30pm ABC
Notre Dame is only favored by 7. Did FSU get a huge influx of talent that I totally missed or is the line just something nice in honor of Bobby Bowden? From what I know of these two programs from last year, the Irish should be at least a 3 TD overdog. Was Ian Book really all that great? I thought he was a good QB but I am thoroughly confused by what’s driving the odds on this one.
Monday, September 6
Louisville vs. Mississippi (in Atlanta, GA) 8:00pm ESPN
Yehaw. What a weird way to close things out. Why aren’t the UGas and the Cocaine Tigers playing in this slot? The racist south is favored by 10 but, off the top of my head, I don’t think they’re actually any better than Louisville. Whatever, there’s close to a zero percent chance I even remember this game is happening.

Interview with Breaking Travel News: Shannon Exelby, general manager, Astra Falls Creek
Having been recognized by voters at the World Ski Awards as one of the best in the industry, Breaking Travel News chats here with Shannon Exelby, general manager at Astra Falls Creek, to find out more about the luxury house.
Breaking Travel News: Congratulations on your World Ski Awards success, with Astra Falls Creek walking away with the Best Ski Boutique Hotel in Australia title. How is it going to feel to have won?
Shannon Exelby: We are extremely proud to accept the award, and this achievement is felt by every member in our team.
To achieve such a remarkable standard, it takes passionate individuals and it is this passion, geared towards our vision and mutual dedication, that makes Astra a success, not only in Australia, but within the entire international community of the ski industry.
BTN: The property has taken the honour for the fifth year in succession. What makes it so special to voters?
SE: Our visitors often find themselves at the center of what we do.
Astra is a pilgrimage haven for returning visitors and establishes a real sense of family between the workers and them.
The place is stunning and, coupled with world class facilities, Astra offers a beautiful cocoon that motivates visitors just outside our front door to be completely immersed in the piste.
This is an event that both visitors and workers are seeking to become part of.
BTN: How beneficial are the World Ski Awards for the promotion of property to the global ski community?
SE: Definitely, it is an accomplishment that we want to put our hat on.
Our guests still rejoice and share in the success of Astra.
There is a lot of advocacy from our consumer base and the World Ski Awards represent the gold standard in the experience of the ski industry for those who have yet to experience Astra, providing the winners with a glowing endorsement.
BTN: In the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, Australia has decided to close its doors to international travel. Did domestic tourism compensate for any shortfall? Is there any hope that next year, a vaccine could see a return to anything like normal?
SE: The main question is that.
Due to Covid-19 state lockdowns, we were cut short this year and, luckily, Australia has recovered very well from that.
Over recent and coming months, there has been strong government stimulus for the travel and hospitality industry, and there is an enormous pent-up demand for domestic travel.
For winter 2021, we expect demand to worsen with North American, European and Japanese ski hills already out of reach for Australians for an unspecified period of time.
We are optimistic that demand will be there, recognizing that we have substantial departures of global skiers and that there is potentially a new segment of first-time skiers looking for an alternative to overseas adventure.
The benefits of a fast flight or car-ride, no jet lag, a friendly currency and Aussie hospitality are going to be convincing and propel us to a very good winter season.
There is very good news about a possible vaccine that means that there will be ways for Falls Creek to carry out an effective season by June 2021.
