Tumblr media
I am a mum of 3 girls been single for a long time. I just want to get back to the dating scene and I’m hoping to find a companion. The kind of man I need is someone who is very exciting and fun in bed. I might not have ever been a sugar mummy but I know what a man will be expecting of me. If it’s caring for him, I can definitely do that.
He on the other hand, has to care for him. He shouldn’t carry the nonsense he saw in a movie and try to do it with me. I am a mature sugar mummy and I know what I want. If he can’t give it to me. Then he shouldn’t come close to me. He must be friendly, trustworthy, honest and loving. I have so much love to give to the right person.

Momma is a badass?
Fandom: DC Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Batmom!reader (in the background) Word count: 1.4k Summary: Your Children don’t know about a big part of your past, but when the situation calls for it, they find out, one way or anotherm Requested by a hydrated Anon: since the request are kinda open. Can i request something where batmom was a former suicide squad member, now dating batman and the batkids dont know? Maybe they are in a dangerous fight against someone and the suicide squad helps them? only if this is okay for you. No pressure or something. Stay hydrated love
Tumblr media
Your children knew that you were a great fighter, one that could hold herself against Bruce easily, and they knew that you had been a vigilante long before you had met their father and fallen into the more domestic role of a part-time event-organizer and a full-time momma at day and a crime fighter at night. Sometimes they had tried to ask you and Bruce about what you had done for the most of your early adulthood, but they never found out anything about what happened between your 18th and 25th birthday. A few of them - mostly Tim, Steph and Damian - had thought about finding out the old-fashioned way, but everytime they seriously considered it they remembered that not once since you had taken them in as your children have you breached their privacy without a very, very good reason. So they quickly started to forget about it again and face their own problems. What none of your children had expected was that that blank on your resume was going to be filled on what was supposed to be an easy mission in Gotham’s Docks. You and Bruce were the ones who went, Tim on the Comms, only to find that three of the most dangerous and violent - but in themselves alone relatively small - crime families had “bonded” together to defeat the one thing that kept them from ‘rising to their true size’: Your family. The two of you were good, years of beating and defeating big baddies have shown so much, but not even the two of you were good enough to defeat the small army that was attacking you now. Under the hail of bullets that were raining down on you, a few of them hitting your body armour, but luckily not you, you barely managed to dive for cover behind a metal pillar. Looking over you were relieved to find Bruce behind cover too, seemingly not hurt. He nodded at you, most likely having the same thoughts about you, before talking to you and Tim over the Comms. “Red, we need everyone here asap, this is at least a code blue situation.” “Code blue? I thought this was just a quick in-and-out,” Tim asked surprised. “Just do it, no time to explain,” Bruce grunted as he threw a Batarang at a particularly bold individual that tried to break his cover, disarming him quickly and knocking him unconscious. “I contacted everyone, Nightwing and Red Hood are on their way, ETA is at least ten minute. Robin is preparing and will be there in five. Oracle is going to take over the Comms as soon as she’s online from her homebase and then I’ll hurry over with Black Bat. The others will try to come, but are indispensable at the moment,” Tim informed you and you could hear the almost inhumane quick tapping of his keyboard in the background. Before you had the chance to answer you noticed the small circular object rolling towards you and just almost managed to kick it away and shield yourself with your cape. “We don’t have enough time to wait for all of them!” you shouted over the sound of another explosion and when you looked over at Bruce you almost saw the internal conversation, “They’re on a mission not far from here, they could be here in five minutes.” “Who are you talking about?” Tim asked, but you and your husband just ignored him. “Do it!” Bruce said after he had to dive for a new cover when the pillar he was standing behind got damaged by another granate. Not waiting another second you pulled out a small button that was protected by a glass hood. You clicked the glass hood off and pushed the button, a little relief flooding you when you saw the blinking light below it implicate that the signal was received. Now you just had to survive long enough for your help to arrive. Tim and Cassandra, closely followed by Damian, arrived shortly after, but even with the five of you, you weren’t remotely able to do more than hold yourself against the seemingly never ending attack that got worse with every minute. When you heard the flapping of a chopper somewhere above you, you could have wept with joy, but soon got pulled back into reality when a bigger explosion rang through your ears and debris from the newly bombed open roof missed you by literal inches. After making sure neither your husband, not your children were hurt badly, you looked up to find that the chopper was not the one you had hoped for when you were looking directly into the barrel of a bomb launcher. The thought of retreating filled your mind, but before you could suggest, you saw the opposing chopper blow up in a haze of fire before a very familiar crazy laugh filled your ears - even if it was still half a mile or so away. More explosions rang through the enemy lines and the shift in power was immediately feelable. You had just won the upper hand. Five ropes were lowered around you and soon after you found yourself surrounded by your former team - or rather one version of it, the suicide squad never really being one to keep stagnate. “Did ‘ya miss us sugar?” Harley crackled as she fell around your neck, hugging you with one arm while the other was occupied with shooting an enemy that had been charging at the six of you. “You wouldn’t believe how much,” you smiled and - after quickly greeting the rest of the team - got back to fighting. Dick and Jason joined the fight shortly before the end - before your win - and were surprised by the people who were fighting in such a harmony with their mother that it looked like they had been fighting with you for years, but with the fight still going on they had little time to care about it too much. The twelve of you together had an easy time fighting against the gangs and it only took a few minutes more before you left unconscious, dead (the suicide squad had no no-killing rule after all) and tied up gang members for the police to lock up. The squad's chopper had been severely damaged during the fight so the five went with you to a second-emergency base on the outskirts of Gotham to wait for Waller to send them a pick-up, leaving you with a bit of time to catch up with your old mates. While you were laughing and talking to Harley, Rick, Floyd, Digger and Tatsu like you were old friends who haven’t seen each other in a while, Bruce standing a few feet behind you - keeping up his grim persona, but not stopping you from interacting with the (mostly) villains - your children were at the other side of the room completely dumbfounded at the way their mother was acting.
“Remember that time Waller almost blew up your head because you thought it was a good idea to play pranks in the base?” you asked laughing, the others joining you. “Yeah, well, how was I supposed to know she’d react to a bit of water like that,” Dagger shrugged, but smiled at the memory. “Can’t believe it’s been so long already since I left, it feels like yesterday I almost cut your eyes out,” you smiled - you much like Katana not having been there as a criminal, but rather as a guard yourself. “Hey, if you want back, we’d gladly take you in, I still think Waller considered planting a bomb in your head just so that you would come back and bring some order back,” Rick shrugged, but you just shook your head. “Thank you, but no thank you, I have a life here now. Also I don’t think Hubby would like that too much,” you giggled a little and blew a kiss at Bruce, who responded only with a stern nod in an interaction that your children would have usually found hilarious if they weren’t so occupied with staring. “Ya’know sugah, Ah love attention, Ah really do, but even Ah get uncomfortable if dah little batlings keep on starin’ like tha’,” Harley nudged your shoulder and nodded into the direction of your children. “Oh, don’t mind my little ones, they just didn’t know about my time at the suicide squad,” you shrugged, well aware that you were going to have a lot to explain later on.

This is an alternate ending for my Bio!dad Joker / Bio!mom Harley AU. Or really, the timeline itself will be entirely different starting from the moment that Marinette’s plane lands in Gotham. If you haven’t read the original, you can do so here.
—*—*—*—*—*
“He’s going to find out, Mom.”
“No he won’t, don’t be silly! I’ve been very careful about hiding you from him, Nettie-pie.”
“Mom… I just have a bad feeling. I don’t think we can hide who I am from him. If he sees me, I think he’ll know.”
The phone went silent.
“If he hurts you, I’ll kill him. If I was crazy about him, Sugar, then I’m head over heels for you. Not even he can stop me from caving his skull in if he tries his usual tricks with you.”
“... My plane leaves soon, I’ll talk to you when I land. And mom?”
“Yeah, honeycake?”
“I love you.”
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette often hated how accurate her intuition tended to be. She had barely even stepped out of the airport before she had felt the prick of a needle in her neck and the sensation of being shoved into a small, dark space before her vision cut out.
Looks like her mom wasn’t able to hide her existence away as well as they thought.
And unfortunately for Marinette, her darling asshole of a father had apparently had ample time to plan his first meeting with her. If he had just used the much easier to acquire Chloroform on her, then Marinette likely would have woken up early enough to come up with a plan. Chloroform was unreliable and wore off fairly easily. But no, he had actually had the time to steal hospital grade anesthetic.
Which meant that Marinette woke up with her wrists zip-tied to heavy links of chain above her head, and her ankles connected to the chain below her with what felt like ten layers of duct tape.
Lovely.
“Ah, there she is! Good morning, sleepyhead!” Those were the high-pitched, dramatic words she heard when she came back to consciousness. She didn’t even need to open her eyes to know who the speaker was— she had watched enough videos online and not-so-legally obtained Asylum and Prison footage to immediately recognize the speech patterns and tone that was echoing around her.
Apparently keeping her eyes closed was not allowed, because it was only a few seconds later that Marinette felt a harsh slap sting her cheek and whip her face to the side. Oh, that would become a bruise without a doubt. Her teeth betrayed her, cutting into the inside of her mouth with the force of the hit. So, when Marinette opened her eyes to glare at the sperm donor responsible for half of her DNA, she aimed her bloody spit right at him. It landed on his shoe, which only a few seconds later slammed into her gut.
Marinette gasped for air even as the chain she was on swung violently, making her dizzy and upsetting her stomach. Too bad she didn’t have anything in there to throw up on him, she thought angrily. The chain links rattled loudly, ringing in her head alongside the electric pain of both of her newly forming bruises.
“Honestly, is that any way to treat your dear ol’ Daddy?” Joker cooed with false offense, one hand over his heart. Marinette glared at him as best as she could as she continued to sway in the open air, the chain she was tied to being the only thing keeping her from plunging straight down into a vat of sickly green, bubbling liquid.
Marinette didn’t need to be told what that liquid was. And joker knew that, the moment he saw her look down at that vat and saw the realization almost immediately cross her face. So instead of explaining, he laughed. Loud, high, and deranged.
“Good, good! That idiot Harley kept you educated, at least,” he said between psychotic chuckles. “Ah yes, and she somehow managed to choose the perfect name,” he glided over to her, as if he was some ethereal demon of chaos instead of a human. His paper-white hand reached out, grabbing her chin in a crushing grip and turning her face this way and that. Inspecting her as if she was a piece of china and not a living being. “So easy to adjust. Right now, you’re Marinette. Just like how, all those years ago, your mother stood here as Harleen. But just as she was dunked into acid and became my harlequin,” he stepped back and grabbed Marinette’s shoulders. He spun her like a top, making the metal chain creak and clink as it wound into a few weak coils and then released back out, trying to go straight again. It sent Marinette twirling through the air in a horrid half-spin, one-eighty degrees one way before sharply spinning to the other side. Joker laughed.
“Just like that, you’re gonna go from boring old Marinette,” he stuck out his tongue like a child, as if the mere taste of her name was bitter. “And you’ll be reborn as my new little Marionette. Aren’t you excited?!”
“Fuck you,” Marinette spat, even as she tried to blink and return her vision to normal. She was far too disoriented to even come up with a plan— but she was still coherent enough to register that the sky was dark outside the high windows of the factory she was apparently in. She had been missing for a few hours then, which meant that her mom and Momma Ivy would have called for help a long time ago. Maybe if she just stalled long enough, it would get there in time. “I’m not a puppet. Not for you, not for anybody!” She snarled.
Joker rolled his eyes, but his smile still widened. “Oh, that’s what they all say. In fact, your mother put up a good resistance there for a while, but her inner chaos couldn’t resist me. You’ll bend even easier, I have no doubt,” her ran his hand along her cheek in a motion that was so gentle that it felt foreign, wrong, to her coming from him. She knew what he was doing. He was trying to whiplash her, take all her hope away before dangling the option he wanted her to choose in front of her like a carrot on a stick.
Too bad he didn’t know her at all. She cringed away from his gentle touch, revolted by the mere feel of his skin on her’s.
“And your accent is a nice touch,” he cooed as if her reaction didn’t bother him at all. It probably didn’t. “Exotic. Just the thing I need to freshen up my usual act a bit, the Boston twang my old Harlequins had is just… stale by now, don’t you agree?”
Marinette clenched her jaw at the reminder that he had tried to pass off a cheap look-alike as her mom when she disappeared, back when she was pregnant with Marinette, to hide her baby from Joker. How he had discarded that woman like trash when Harley went back to him, only to replace her again when her mom left him for good.
No matter how badly Joker spoke of her mom, Marinette knew that Harley had been the only Harlequin of his to actually last. The only one he kept around, and there was a reason for that. Now, he was looking for another replacement. One that was more than a cheap knockoff, and he was hoping that a teenager with not only Harley’s genetics, but also his own, would be the exact kind of right-hand prop he wanted. An obedient little puppet of chaos, just for him.
But Marinette was nobody's toy. She had been used and taken advantage of enough back in Paris, she had spent her whole life struggling to escape the side effects of her parentage. To deal with the things she inherited.
The obsessiveness, the way she was so quick to get attached. She knew she inherited that from her mom. But there was also the rage, the anger that Marinette constantly had to stuff down. Hide below the surface before it hurt someone. Keep under a tight reign and hide away in the back of her mind, her own dirty little secret.
The constant reminder of just who her biological father was. Because that anger, that viciousness, could only have come from him.
She had spent her whole life trying to carve herself her own identity, to create beauty with the chaotic elements she got from her blood. And she couldn’t blame her mother, not really. Her mother at least did her best to help, and always leant an empathetic ear when Marinette needed it. But Joker?
Oh, she could, and would, blame him even long after he was dead and gone. Because he was the one who hurt her mother, he was the one who twisted her and drove her to feel unfit to be a parent. And sometimes, Marinette thought it would be better if Joker never existed. Sure, that meant she never would have been born. But wouldn’t that have been easier, too? To not ever have to experience the struggle that came with being his daughter, a title she never consented to?
But she couldn’t change the past. She was alive, and she would use her life to spite everything that the Joker stood for. That would be her revenge. He wanted a toy?
Joker had been monologuing, but Marinette drowned it all out as she kept her periphery vision on the windows above her. Shadows moved out there, with familiar bright yellows and shadowy blacks. The bats were there. She just needed to stall.
She opened her mouth. Joker pulled a lever.
Marinette dropped.
Wire whizzed through the air, knocking the breath out of Marinette as it wound around her torso. She was barely able to piece together what was happening; one of the bats shot a human-safe grapple to try and pull her away from the acid.
But the chain and her restraints were stronger, heavier, and just dragged the grapple down with her body.
The impact sent a large wave of sickly green liquid surging over the side of the vat, and Marinette was dragged from view underneath the surface.
It burned.
She distantly felt the tape around her ankles peel itself away from her skin, the combination of acid and wetness rendering it useless. She felt the chemicals burning at her, sending painful tingles across every last inch of her skin. It got in her mouth, she didn’t have any breath in her to hold and ended up swallowing some. It seared her throat and created a river of lava inside her. It hurt.
It hurt so bad, she just wanted out. Out. Out. Out!
Someone pull her out now!
The zip tie around her wrist loosened enough for her to pull herself free, right as something heavy slammed into the heavy metal bowl. The entire container sloshed, slamming to fall onto its side. Marinette’s body was pulled alongside the rush of liquid as it flowed out, and she was able to breathe air again. Sweet, cooling air.
And then she hacked up acid, spitting and spewing it in an attempt to purge every last drop she had accidentally ingested. Like a cat choking on a hairball, she coughed and hacked and her chest convulsed and contracted to try and help her. Her ribs ached, she figured that the grapple that had tried to save her had ended up fracturing or breaking a rib or two. But all she cared about was breathing and getting rid of the chemicals she had inhaled. She needed it out. All of it. Out. Out. Out of her!
“Try to take a deep breath,” a gruff voice commanded, soft but solid. Something stable for her to cling to. So she did as it asked, forcing herself to stop hacking and instead focus on inhaling. As slowly as she could. It was difficult, the first few breaths cut themselves off with more involuntary coughing, but the owner of the gruff voice stayed nearby. Repeated it’s request. “Deep breath. Steady, now. In. Out. Good.”
Marinette was just starting to calm down, just starting to claw herself out of the haze of panic and adrenaline, when that wretched laugh cut through the air again.
“There you are! Heheheheh! My cute little Marionette!”
Marinette froze. She could barely think, barely understand her own emotions. But she knew she was different now. She knew there was no way back, he had taken it from her. He had taken her normality, he had taken all of her years of hard work and burned them right in front of her.
He had won. The bats hadn’t been fast enough. But, if her foggy mind was correct, Batman was the one trying to bring her back to lucidity. Batman was the one trying to help her get air back in her lungs.
Not her so-called father.
If he wanted a toy, she’d be a haunted doll. She’d harass him, haunt him, until he wanted nothing to do with her. She’d come back, like a possessed porcelain doll refusing to be thrown away. She would make him regret ever awakening the monster that she had spent so long forcing down. Because she was her father’s daughter, yes. But she was also her mother’s daughter.
And most importantly, she was Marinette Quinzel-Isley. Her own damned person. The Chosen wielder of the Creation miraculous. And she would never bow down and be used by anyone, ever again.
Tikki’s words from so long ago echoed in her mind. Resounded even louder than Joker’s laughter;
“That’s all order really is, Marinette. The decision to take all the chaos and madness around us, and make it make sense. Make it do something good.”
And wasn’t that everything Marinette had ever done? It was a part of her now. Like a tattoo she had inked into her very soul.
She took the chaos she was given, and turned it into something beautiful. And right now? Right now, the most beautiful thing she could think of was Joker’s face when she slammed her fist into it.
“Easy,” Batman repeated, but for a different reason now. Marinette’s lungs still stuttered a little, but her breathing was mostly under control. Now, he was saying it because Marinette was forcing herself to her feet. Her legs trembled under her, threatening to lay her out on the floor again. But she was every bit as stubborn as Joker, which made for a terrifying combination with her all-consuming fury. The acid had broken the mental chains Marinette had been using to hold it back, and now it burned fierce and bright in her eyes.
So Marinette kept herself up right, cognizant of Batman’s hand on her shoulder but ignoring it. She grit her teeth against the burning light of the room, everything suddenly too bright and colorful. Too vibrant. But it did little to distract her. She realized that one of her hands still gripped the heavy chain that had sent her drowning in the acid, and sent a snarl at her darling, jackass of a father as she whipped it out right towards him.
“Marinette!” Batman yelled, his grip tightening on her shoulder. But he didn’t pull her back, which spoke louder than any words he could have said to her right then. He wouldn’t save Joker from his daughter, he knew the man deserved at least this much pain. And sure enough, the metal links slammed right into Joker’s side, winding around him like a crushing whip.
But that was all Marinette had the strength to do. As soon as she saw Joker’s body hit the floor, writhing in agony and painfully loud cackles, her hand let go of the chain and her body tumbled down. Batman caught her.
“Red Hood, Nightwing, get Joker back to Arkham,” Batman’s order faded in and out of focus. Now that her most pressing desire was taken care of, the effects of the acid reared their ugly heads with renewed ferocity. Everything was too bright, too loud, and her thoughts echoed in her head like voices wrestling for supremacy. “Robin, Black Bat, stay on alert. Harley said that she’s incredibly trained,” he warned his partners. Marinette didn’t begrudge him, the only other two people who had survived being dunked into those chemicals hadn’t exactly treated him with kindness and pacifism. But she could barely focus on them anyway, too distracted by trying to reign in the chaos in her mind.
But Joker would never stay silent, even as he was dragged away in chains.
“Hehehahahahaha! Paper white, paper white!” He jeered cheerfully. “That’s my girl! Violent just like Papa!” Red hood knocked him out with a harsh punch to the side of his neck before he could say another word. But it was enough— enough for Marinette to gasp in realization.
Her skin. It was paper white, just like his. Not even Harley’s skin had been bleached like the Joker’s after her dip in the acid. That had always been makeup. Her mom had a healthy, peachy complexion like anyone else. A complexion Marinette had shared— until now. Now, she was unhealthily pale. Just like him.
A painful screech tore itself from her already raw throat, and Marinette’s fingernails immediately began to tear at her own skin. Red. Red was better than white— she didn’t want to look like him. She couldn’t. White was bad. Bad. Bad. Bad.
“Marinette! Stop!” Strong hands clamped around her wrists, pulling her hands away from herself even as she wriggled and tried to keep clawing at herself.
“No! No no no!” Marinette howled. “I don’t wanna look like him! I don’t wanna be like him!” She managed to get one hand free and immediately tried to tear away at her face. Batman was able to wrestle her arm away before she could do any damage besides a few angry red lines. “I refuse! I refuse! I refuse!” She shook her head, not feeling as tears flung themselves off her cheeks.
“Okay,” Batman’s voice was solid again, soft and grumbly and stable. She grabbed at it again, drawn to anything that might help bring her stability. She needed his unflappable attitude right then, and he probably didn’t even realize how badly. “That’s good. But you don’t need to rip your skin off to do that, you know that right?”
Marinette hiccuped, finally sinking down to sob as the weight of everything she had lost pressed down over the chaos of deafening light and blinding sound that continued to jumble around inside her head. “He changed me,” she choked out. Batman nodded even though she wasn’t looking at him.
“He did.”
“Th-that f-fucking bastard,” Marinette managed a sad chuckle before devolving right back into sobs. “I wo-worked so h-hard. N-never hurt any-anybody. Never… never yelled. Ne-never hit… Not people who didn’t attack f-first.”
“I know. Your mom told me,” he confirmed calmly. Solid, tethering. Marinette swallowed another gulp of air, trying to calm down. But everything was too much.
“Mom!” She suddenly realized out loud, turning and grabbing at Batman’s chest, clinging to his uniform. She didn’t even care that she almost sliced herself on a batarang, she clung to him desperately with wide, crazed eyes. “G-get Mom and… and Ivy! They… they can help. They know—“ Marinette paused to breathe, then resumed. “Momma Ivy— she gave me—gave me a diluted… th-thingy, years ago, I can’t remember—“ Marinette’s eyebrows furrowed as she tried to get her mind to calm down. To work.
“The serum she gave Harley?” He asked. “The one that made her immune to poisons, and gave her increased physical abilities?”
“That!” Marinette agreed frantically, nodding. “I was too— too little, to give the real thing, so she diluted it,” she swallowed her spit and winced when it burned her throat. “It… I think it’s helping with the—the—the—“
“The chemical’s effects?” Batman suddenly sounded like he was paying much more attention than before, his shoulders a little straighter at her explanation. “You think it’s slowing down or numbing what it did to your mom and Joker?” Marinette couldn’t talk anymore, it hurt too much. Everything hurt too much, so she just nodded. “Good. That’s good, Marinette. Robin! Get Harley and Ivy down here, now!”
That was when the voices started. Sometime during the ten minutes it took to get her Mom and Ivy to her, they had apparently been waiting nearby anxiously incase the Bats had needed backup, the voices had built from ominous whispers to devious shouts, ordering her to do things like slam her elbow into Batman’s throat or see what happened if she splashed Robin with some of the acid that was still on the ground.
Her body didn’t move. She kept herself carefully still, focusing on ignoring her impulse to listen to one of the voices. She was still lucid enough to know that she would regret it if she did any of that. That the Bats were more on her side than any of the voices or the Joker were. But it was growing painful, and Harley and Ivy walked in to Batman trying to keep Marinette from hitting her own head. She had devolved to trying to knock herself out to get the voices to be quiet.
“Shut up,” she hissed, her voice hoarse and gravelly. “Shut up, shut up, shut. Up!” She was clearly talking to herself, her eyes screwed shut as she continued to try and hit her head. Harley gasped, hands flying to her mouth and eyes watering at the sight. This was something she had hoped she would never see.
“Harls,” Ivy spoke softly, putting a gentle arm around her wife’s back in support. It hurt Ivy to see Marinette in so much agony, but she knew it pained Harley even more. And much more personally. “Come on. We can help.”
“Y-you’re right,” Harley agreed shakily, taking a deep breath to try and compose herself before they both approached their daughter. Batman didn’t let go of Marinette, but did lean out of the way to give them access to her.
“Honeycake?” Harley called out softly, a little unsure how the chemicals were affecting her baby’s personality right then. The first few days were going to be the worst, and she knew that. The Dunk never took it easy on it’s victims. Marinette gasped, stopping her muttering and raising her head to look at Harley with wide eyes.
“Momma?”
Harley had to swallow heavily to shove back the sob that wanted to bubble up out of her. She had to be strong for her baby. She couldn’t break yet. But Marinette hadn’t called her Momma since she was little, now she called Pamela ‘Momma Ivy’ and her just ‘Mom’.
“It’s me, sugarplum,” she assured her daughter, kneeling down and cupping one of Marinette’s cheeks in her palm. And that was when she noticed it, and couldn’t help but widen her eyes in shock. But Marinette’s senses were so sensitive that she noticed it right away, and stiffened.
“Wh-what is it?” She grew frantic when Harley didn’t immediately respond, only winced in sympathy. Marinette knew that wasn’t good. “Mom? What is it? What did he do? What else did he do to me?”
“Darling,” Harley started, licking her lips nervously. “My sweet baby girl, your right eye… it’s green now, sugar.”
Marinette’s world froze. She tried to smile, but it came out lopsided and disbelieving. “No,” she somehow managed to breathe. “No, mom, I have your eyes. Your blue eyes. I love your eyes,” Her voice steadily got more and more panicked as she went on, not wanting to accept what her mother was clearly seeing. She watched as Harley’s face broke a little, a few tears escaping before the older woman could stop them. Marinette shook her head again, slipping her tiny wrist out of Batman’s hold and raising it to her eye. “No. It’s one of his tricks. He—he must have slipped a contact in my eye when I was passed out, that’s— that’s— that’s all—“ but her fingertip met her normal eye. No contact to be felt. Marinette’s hand fell into her lap limply. The room was absolutely silent as everyone gave her a few seconds to process just how much she had been changed, entirely against her will. She opened and closed her mouth, not sure whether she wanted to yell or curse or cry. Instead, her voice just came out in a very tiny, broken:
“...fuck.”
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette had gone mostly mute. She would say a word here or there, but for the most part she was doing a good impression of a vegetable. She stayed silent, as still as possible, and just stared at the ceiling of her hospital room.
She had been like that for the past two weeks they had been monitoring her in the Acid’s aftermath. Her ribs, which had turned out to only be bruised thankfully enough, had healed. Her cheek and torso were healed up too, only the barest hint of sickly yellow to show as a reminder of Joker’s hits on her. Sometimes the cameras would catch her talking to seemingly empty air, only for a nurse to rush in and see that Marinette had gone silent yet again.
Tikki was doing her best to help. She had been separated from Marinette, but Pamela had found Marinette’s purse and returned it— and subsequently Tikki— when they had gotten her to the hospital. She was the only person Marinette regularly spoke to, because Marinette knew Tikki understood. Tikki had been around since the Big Bang, she had seen worse things than a little insanity. Tikki had always been there to help her feel at ease with her mind and body. She shared a piece of Tikki’s soul, even, according to the tiny god.
But talking to anyone else was too hard. Too scary. She still had those damned voices at war in her mind, trying to convince her to do things that made her lock her joints and keep her body absolutely still before she acted on any of the coaxes. Possibilities she had never considered before came startlingly easy to her mind now— like how it would only take two seconds to tear her IV out and stab it into her nurse’s eye. How she could use her blanket to strangle Momma Ivy, or how she could fake jumping out the window and Harley wouldn’t waste a second trying to save her.
They were horrible thoughts. Intrusive, ugly, and far too loud. She didn’t want to act on any of them, but sometimes she found her fingers twitching only a second before she could follow through on one.
She spent a lot of time meditating, because of it. Which is why most people thought she was ignoring them. She didn’t mean to, she just needed to meditate. It was like her brain was a giant room filled with filing cabinets that held her thoughts and emotions. Her whole life, Marinette had carefully kept this room alphabetized, organized, and neat. Every file in its correct drawer. Until Joker had come along, and ripped the entire place apart. Tore certain files in half, broke her cabinets, ruined her filing system. And now she had to put the room back together, one drawer and piece of paper at a time.
That’s what the meditation was doing. She was getting reacquainted with herself. Learning what had changed in her mind and trying to adjust. She couldn’t be the old Marinette anymore, but she’d be damned if she let the Joker turn her into someone ugly like him.
So she needed time.
One day, towards the end of those two weeks, she got a visitor slipping through her window. Considering her room was on the tenth floor, she had it pretty narrowed down as to who it could be. Batman had visited her every night, a silent shadow in the corner, but he had already left for the day so it couldn’t be him. None of the other bats had dropped by after the second day.
She turned her head to see that that was now changed; Red Hood sat on her windowsill with one leg inside the room and the other bent on the sill itself. He looked the very picture of comfort despite being a stiff wind (or quick shove— no, bad brain) away from falling to his death. And then Hood took off his helmet, which was ugly enough to inspire some of the more violent suggestions in her brain and make them seem appealing.
“Ya know. Red Hood used to be what Joker called himself,” were the first words out of the vigilante’s mouth. Marinette’s eyebrows pulled down, and it was clear she was confused (and a little angry) at what he told her. He grinned, his eyes still hidden by the domino mask on his face. “Eh. The bastard killed me, ya know. I was the second Robin, a lifetime ago.”
Marinette’s eyes widened at that, and the violent voices dimmed and seemed to grow muffled. Marinette couldn’t quite understand what they were trying to tell her anymore, which made her figure that she had better pay attention to what Hood had to say. She licked her dry lips, and spoke softly. Her throat was still damaged from the acid, so she couldn’t speak very loudly yet.
“Then how are you… you know, here?”
The man chuckled. “Another group of assholes happens to have a magic pit in their basement. It’s a glowing green lake, ten different types of bad news. But it brings people back to life, and they dunked me in it without even caring for a second if I even wanted to come back.”
Marinette’s shoulders relaxed all on their own. It seemed to sink into her brain all at once, a simple:
Oh. He gets it.
“I guess the water doesn’t take it easy on your brain, either?” She hazarded an educated guess. He laughed, shaking his head.
“Not at all. I went off the deep end for a while, and killed a lotta people. They deserved it at least, but I don’t like how violent I was back then. Before I learned how to cope. Attacked people who were innocent. Red Robin almost died when I attacked him, back then, when he was just Robin.”
“Then why’d you keep calling yourself Red Hood?” She asked, tilting her head. He finally turned his head to look straight at her instead of just staring out the window. His grin widened, but it was lopsided. The grin of someone who was healed from some serious shit, but knew that it would always ache. A bittersweet expression.
“Cuz he doesn’t own that name. I made it into something that stands for at least a little good. Something that scares the assholes who don’t care about killing or abusing innocent people. Hell, some people take comfort in the name Red Hood now. And you know what that means?”
Marinette shook her head, and his grin widened into a shark-like smile.
“It means I stole it from him. The name Red Hood. He’ll never use it again, and now it stands for the opposite of anything he’d agree with. You can do that too, you know. Find something to steal from him, or use something he gave you, and make it your own.”
“Turn the chaos into something good,” Marinette said dreamily, clearly quoting someone. Red Hood nodded.
“Exactly. It’s not gonna be easy, but you got the choice here. You ain’t going back to who you used to be, but you can take the victory away from him.”
“... make him regret ever dunking me in that stupid vat,” she agreed, narrowing her eyes as they filled with determination for the first time since her body hit the acid. “He wants a puppet, an obedient little doll, I’ll give him Annabel.”
“There ya go,” The vigilante slid off the windowsill and approached her bed, holding out his hand for a shake. “I can help you get to that. What do ya say?”
Marinette was silent for a long minute, staring straight into his masked eyes. And then, a slow smile spread over her lips. “I got one question, Red Hood.”
“Shoot.”
“How do you feel about black cats?”

A/n: Alright if you can’t already figure out I am very much a simp for adorable sweethearts cause they’re just so cute!! Literally take all my uwus— anywho here’s some quarantine headcanons for best boy Izuku Midoriya! I might make quarantine hc’s a small series for the boys of Class 1-A because I had a really fun time writing this, but we’ll see! I included a bit of background at the beginning as well so enjoy!!
Tumblr media
So you’re in Class 1-B at UA High, and the first time you officially met Izuku was at the sports festival
During the cavalry battle you had snagged points from Bakugo’s team and he was incredibly impressed with you despite the fact that your group fell short of making the one on one battle round
You may or may not have become intrigued with him during the obstacle race and your curiosity only grew from there
Monoma got upset with you because you were so focused on Izuku almost the entire festival
“Are you seriously fawning over our rivals?”
Cue you elbowing him in the side and scolding him for being so hostile (yes you and Kendo get along swimmingly)
When he saw you around later that day he asked you about your quirk and you were happy to talk with him! You offered to get ice cream while you walked and he was ecstatic because not only was your quirk awesome, but you were also one of the prettiest girls Izuku had ever seen and he was trying not to get too flustered
Poor boy basically got hounded by Monoma when he saw you two walking around the festival together and Kendo had to physically drag the blonde away while mustering out a handful of apologies
Y’all became good friends very quickly and you and Izuku would alternate eating with each other’s friend groups at lunch - the Dekusquad loves you
Izuku ended up meeting your parents unexpectedly after the forest training camp incident, as they worked as some of the head doctors at the hospital and were well acquainted with OFA (your dad attended UA in the support class at the same time Toshinori was enrolled!! He worked closely with Recovery Girl during his years there)
Izuku had stepped in to help you at the training camp during the attack, so your parents were thanking him constantly for protecting their daughter.
You ended up asking him out pretty soon after that because he was always so selfless and kind, not to mention the most adorable person you had ever met
Decided to keep it very lowkey just because of the class rivalry and all the craziness going on
Anyways when Miss ‘Rona starts up you’ve been dating for a few months now and Izuku’s mom and your parents each adore y’all already
So UA makes the announcement that students should stay at home for a while so that they can clean out the campus and make sure everything is safe for use, so that means everyone is moving out of the dorms for the time being
Your parents are worried because even though you all got tested and the results were negative, they don’t want to put you at risk as they’re traveling to and from the hospital each day, so Izuku’s mother being the sweetheart she is offers to have you stay at their place
So the Midoriya fam gets tested and all is good except that Izuku is freaking out
He knows it’s fine because there’s a guest room and you’ve been to his house on many, many occasions but oH My GoSH sHe’S bASiCalLy gOiNG tO LiVe wiTh mE
Sweet baby is a blushing mess when his mom tells him you’re coming over and he bolts to clean everything and make sure you’ll be comfortable
Folds your favorite hoodie that you steal all the time and puts it on the guest room bed…SWEETHEART
He knows you’re worried about your parents so he wants to do his best to make sure you’re alright
And let me just say that this child is best boy like?? Always tidies his room and helps Momma Midoriya out around the house! It’s the cutest thing ever
If you’re not the best with online classes he’s sat next to you on your bed and explaining stuff to you.
You get a question right? Nose kissies. No exceptions. You’re getting rewarded for your hard work
He’s super respectful of your space too — he will never enter your room or the bathroom without knocking and making sure you’re not caught off guard
But believe it or not this little broccoli gets into very clingy moods and will absolutely pull you into his side while he’s doing homework on the couch or when you’re making a snack in the kitchen.
Cuddles are mandatory at least three times a day, and when he gets this way you’re basically immobile the entire afternoon
P l e a s e kiss the scars on his hands I am begging you
Movie nights in his room all the time. Y’all eat up romantic comedies and literally anything Disney.
Sometimes you fall asleep on his chest during the movie and the boy c o m b u s t s at how completely adorable you look.
His mom has dozens of pictures of you both. She hardcore ships it.
Since y’all have classes at differing times, you’ll sometimes come into his room while he’s on a Zoom call and discreetly put a plate of snacks on his desk to keep him focused. He gives you the softest look whenever you do it’s so precious-
You try to avoid the camera at all costs though, since no one at school knows you’re both dating, let alone currently staying in the same house
One time his classmates asked who was in his room and he choked on air before sputtering out that it was his mother.
To his relief everyone believed it, but after he muted his mic again you were practically wheezing on the other side of the room at how freaked out he got
***
You knock lightly on Izuku’s bedroom door, quietly slipping in when you hear a faint “come in” from the other side. A plate of fruit is balanced in one hand while the other one closes the door behind you, and you are met with the sight of your boyfriend listening to another one of Aizawa’s lectures. He looks a bit tired, with his head propped up on his hand and pencil tapping on his desktop. You smiled to yourself, knowing that this time of the afternoon was around the middle of his daily classes and he was running out of steam - hence the snacks you brought.
You gently place the plate beside Izuku and glance at his screen to find his microphone off. He looks over to you with an appreciative smile before reaching for a piece of honeydew.
“How are you doing, baby?” you ask, giggling when he groans in exasperation.
“Staring at this screen for so long is hurting my brain,” he sighs as he pops the fruit into his mouth. “Thank you for the food.”
“Not a problem. My next class isn’t for another hour so if you need anything else let me know.”
The boy reaches out for your hand, and your eyes briefly flick to the camera to make sure you’re still out of view, but you let him lace his fingers with yours.
“Could you sit with me for a bit then?” he requests, looking up to you with pleading emerald eyes.
You smile softly at his behavior. “Only if I get to have some of this fruit plate.”
“Deal.”
You take up the space on the floor besides Izuku’s chair, leaning your head against his side. His computer’s camera angle only showed him from the shoulders up, and the aspiring pro hero absentmindedly brushed a hand through your hair as he focused back on the lecture. You pulled out your phone to keep yourself occupied while your boyfriend worked during the class, occasionally reaching out to snag another piece of fruit from atop his desk.
The room was filled with the comfortable sounds of pen against paper and the fan whirring softly overhead, and you perked your head up as Izuku answered a question Aizawa had asked a moment prior. The corners of his mouth raised into a small smile when he was deemed correct. You teasingly pressed a quick kiss to his side which caused him to jolt in surprise and glance over to you.
“What was that for?” he chuckled, a hint of a blush adorning his face.
“You got the question right,” you smiled back at him cheekily. “That’s your reward.”
He scoffed playfully. “You’re such a dork.”
“Maybe, but you like that I’m a dork.”
Izuku shook his head with a grin, grabbing a strawberry from the plate on his desk and holding it out to you. You gladly took a bite of the sweet fruit that had been sprinkled with bits of sugar.
“I think I deserve a slightly better prize for answering correctly, though,” he shrugged, lifting the strawberry to his mouth — that was now practically the same shade of red as his face.
“Oh yeah? What might that be?” you hummed, eyebrow arched.
“Not sure exactly. I was just thinking out loud.”
“Maybe I’ll kiss you properly when you’re not on a class Zoom call, weirdo.”
“Uh, hey Midoriya? Who are you talking to?”
Both yours and Izuku’s faces morphed into mortified realization at the voice coming from his computer.
He forgot to mute himself after answering Aizawa’s question, getting distracted by your antics. And everyone had just heard him. Flirting with you.
Welp.
The voice who had spoken and saved you two from further embarrassment belonged to Kaminari, and the rest of the class was quick to follow up with their own questions as they unmuted themselves one by one. Izuku looked at you with apologetic eyes, and you only let out a soft laugh and waved your hand nonchalantly, the initial shock of the situation already leaving you. The boy tilted his head in question: ‘want to say hello?’ You nodded in response, standing up so you were now in view of the computer’s camera.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt,” you laughed awkwardly, watching everyone’s screens as Class 1-A’s jaws dropped.
“Woah, you’re from Class 1-B right?” Kirishima spoke up. You nodded in affirmation.
“What’re you doing at Midoriya’s house?” Asui inquired.
“Midoriya, are you not exercising proper social distancing guidelines?” Iida chimed in, with his typical Class Representative concern.
Izuku was growing more flustered by the second as numerous students bombarded you with questions. You gently placed a hand on his shoulder which seemed to somewhat ease his embarrassment.
Aizawa had decided to use this opportunity to take a nap, saying he didn’t care what you students did so long as the class was done with this little predicament by the time he woke up. So now, the floor solely belonged to you both.
“Alrighty, so I’ll try to keep this short and quick,” you started, looking to Izuku with a small smile. “My parents are doctors at the local hospital and since they wanted to make sure I stayed healthy, I’m currently living at Izuku’s place. Yeah, we’ve been tested and are fine, and yes Iida, we’re still maintaining clean and healthy lifestyles around the house to play it safe. And finally, yes, we are dating. Pretty sure that covers it.”
“Like hell it does!” Mina exclaimed, leaning towards her camera excitedly. She had been missing some long awaited drama. “How long have you two been dating?”
“A handful of months now,” Izuku spoke up, hiding his burning face in your sweater.
“You’re joking! And you didn’t tell anyone?” Momo gasped, quite a fan of the occasional dramatics herself.
“It was kind of a crazy time after the whole summer camp fiasco, so we didn’t feel like bringing it up then would have been right,” you explained, patting the top of Izuku’s head. “After that, we just never really got around to saying anything.”
“So you’re telling me that Midoriya scored a hottie from 1-B and not the rest of us guys?” Mineta huffed. You laughed when Izuku secured his arms around your waist at the comment.
“Mineta, no,” he scolds, although his voice is muffled by the fabric of your clothing.
“Aww, I think someone’s properly embarrassed now,” you cooed. “I should probably be taking my leave then.”
“But there are so many more questions we could ask!” Mina whines, and a number of the students nod in agreement.
You giggle at the class’ curiosity. “Maybe another time. This might be all Zuku can take at the moment.”
The boy in question lifted his head to look at you, blush still alight on his freckled cheeks.
“Sorry about all this,” he apologizes.
You shake your head with a small smile. “It’s all fine and done. Don’t even worry about it. We were going to let them know eventually.”
You take his face in your hands and press a kiss on Izuku’s forehead. He pouts, his eyes averted to his lap. “You missed.”
With a playful roll of your eyes, you lean down to peck Izuku’s lips. The gesture is met with a chorus of awwing over the class Zoom call, only opposed by a gagging Bakugo and a salty Mineta.
“Alrighty, that’s enough public affection in front of your friends for today,” you joke, and you leave a furiously blushing Izuku to deal with the rest of the class on his own.
Safe to say you were drowned in cuddles and many, many kisses as soon as the call ended.

Word Count: 4,446

The days by yourself in your flat after Cannes and Jersey were some of the hardest you’d experienced in a while. You were going through extreme Henry withdraws. You missed the way he hummed to himself while he did anything. Mostly you missed his presence. Henry, though large and apparent as he was, had a calming, easy going nature about him. Rarely did anything affect him so much that he flew off the handle or outraged him in any way. You, on the other hand, were generally a case of nerves covered up with sarcasm and wit.
To deal with your lack of Henry, you dumped yourself into work. While you were away, James acquired more footage that needed to be scrubbed, color corrected, and catalogued. So, you got to work. In the mornings, you would go for a short run, get dressed in comfortable clothes, edit for hours, break for lunch, go back to editing, and only stop when your eyes felt like they were literally on fire. Slowly, you were realizing this way of life was starting to weigh on you. It wasn’t that you didn’t love your life, you absolutely did. But since meeting Henry, you were beginning to feel things you had never experienced before. For the first time ever, you were thinking about the future.
Occasionally, you dared sneak a peek online. The rumor mill spread theories about your relationship with Henry like wildfire. All the theories made you laugh, but what was really eating at you was the lack of communication from National Geographic. Over two weeks ago, James had sent in the beginnings of your proposal for a documentary with them and nothing. Not a peep or a confirmation or anything.
“You need to focus on something else,” Henry said to you one day. He’d come by to pick you up with Kal and the three of you went for a walk. Holding his hand, you instantly felt better, but the nerves were still there.
“I know, that’s what I’ve been trying to do,” you said. You’d explained to Henry all the work you had been doing for James since getting back, but it didn’t seem to help much.
“Well maybe figuring out what you want for your birthday will help,” Henry offers and you glance at him, scoffing a little.
“I already told what I want,” you reply.
“I’m not buying you that t-shirt,” Henry says firmly and you feign mock indignation. The other day you found a woman that will print just about anything on a t-shirt. You put together what ‘Unidentified Woman’ would look like and sent it to Henry as a gift idea. Clearly, he still wasn’t buying into it.
“I don’t know why,” you say, but Henry cuts you off.
“Because it’s ridiculous and you’re going to wear it in public,” he says to you. He’s trying so hard to be serious, but you can see the smile pulling at the corners of his lips.
“That’s the point!” you exclaim, but Henry just rolls his eyes and chuckles a little. “Okay, fine, what about the keychain?” you ask, reminding him of keychain option. He snorts.
“I might consider that,” he says. “But that can’t be your only gift,” he adds.
“Why not?” you whine, dramatically sticking your bottom lip out. Henry sees you and a massive grin breaks out across his face.
“I want to get you something special,” he says, smiling at you.
“What have I done to suggest that either the t-shirt or keychain would not make feel special?” you ask emphatically.
“God, you’re ridiculous,” Henry snorts, rolling his eyes. You beam up at him.
“It’s part of my charm,” you say, smiling wide and a little awkwardly.
“It’s something, but it ain’t charm,” Henry says, glancing at you sideways.
“Won you over, though, didn’t I?” you point out.
“The jury’s still out,” Henry replies and you bark with laughter. After walking around with Henry and Kal, you find yourself back in your home office. You’re reviewing footage that James had sent you, but your mind keeps thinking about that proposal. You grab your phone and check it every five minutes. You do that for an hour before you practically toss your phone in the drawer and decide that if you haven’t heard anything in three weeks, by your birthday, you were just going to move on.
In three weeks time, when you still hadn’t heard anything, you began to feel discouraged. Though you were still getting plenty of work through James and other clients, you were feeling as though something was wrong. While you did your best, Henry noticed the subtle changes in your behavior. You were quieter then usual and generally less sarcastic. It pain him to see you this way, but he was sure the birthday surprise he had planned for you would brighten your spirits. The morning of your birthday, Henry calls you.
“Well good morning, sugar,” you say, answering the phone. Though it was relatively early, you were already up and working. Henry could hear you typing.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he replies. “And happy birthday,” he adds. You can hear the excitement in his voice and it makes you smile.
“Thank you,” you say, feeling genuine happiness. An email notification pops up on your computer screen so you click on it. “Holy crap,” you mutter, seeing the subject line.
“What?” Henry asks, concerned.
“Uh, hold please,” you say, keeping the phone to your ear. Silently, you read through the email.
Dear Y/n,
This is Jonathan with the London National Geographic office. We received your proposal example for the project we discussed. Our office has had a chance to review it and we would like to make you a formal offer. If you accept, you will have complete access to our libraries and database for further research and development. Please respond to this email or contact me at the number listed below to move forward with this contract. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
J.P.
You read through the email three more times before you realize you’re crying.
“Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap,” you mutter, staring at the screen.
“Babe, what’s going on?” Henry asks.
“I got it,” you whisper, still in disbelief. “I got it. I got the contract,” you say louder.
“What?” Henry asks, surprised.
“I’m going to work with National Geographic. I’m going to Peru!” you exclaim, jumping up from your computer. “Holy crap!” you yell, dancing around your office.
“Y/n, that’s amazing!” Henry exclaims through the phone. “I told you you’d get it!” he points out and you laugh.
“Oh my gosh, I have to call James!” you say suddenly. Henry chuckles.
“Tell him in person. He and I planned to celebrate your birthday today,” Henry explains. “I’ll meet you at his house in an hour,” he says.
“Okay,” you reply wistfully. When you hang up with Henry, you stand in your office dumbstruck. You can’t believe that you did it. You got the job. Wiping away the tears that have fallen down your face, you dart off into your bedroom to start getting dressed. Forty five minutes later, you are driving through the country side on the way to James’ house. There is a smile that hasn’t left your face since you read that email and you couldn’t wait to tell James.
When you pull up to the house, you see that Henry has beaten you there. He’s getting out of his car right as you pull up. You’ve barely put your car in park and turned it off before you are dashing out of the car and flying across the gravel to him.
“Hey!” he exclaims, beaming as you practically float above the ground. As soon as you are close to him, you jump into his arms. Henry wraps those solid arms around your frame, lifts you, and spins you around right there in the driveway. You giggle as you kiss him passionately. Henry sets you down and smiles down at your beaming face.
“I got the contract,” you state, looking up at his familiar and loving eyes. “I am going to work with National Geographic. I am going to make a documentary with National Geographic. I am going to make a documentary with National Geographic in Peru,” you stop to take in a breath, realizing just how much is about to change. Henry places his hands gently on either side of your face.
“I knew you would get it,” he says quietly and don’t even try to stop the smile that forms on your lips. “Now, come on,” he says, letting go of your face and taking a hold of your hand. “We have a birthday to celebrate,” he pulls you towards James’ house. You smile at his back, feeling incredible. There is nothing in the world that could possibly top the high you are experiencing in this moment. Oh how wrong you were.
Henry steps aside and lets you open the door. Confused, you oblige, but almost dart right back out due to fear. The moment you cleared the doorway, several voices called out, “Happy birthday!” startling you. As soon as you regain your composure, you look around and realize your family is here. Jeremy and his wife; Kevin and his girlfriend; Kyle and his boyfriend; your parents.
“WHAT?!” you screech, looking around with your hands over your mouth.
“What’s up, booger,” Kevin calls out and you stare at him, dumbfounded.
“Kevin,” you mom says disapprovingly. She steps towards you with her arms out. “Hi, baby,” she says, pulling you in for a hug. You wrap your arms around her and take in her scent. You mom smelled like vanilla and grass and it was the most amazing thing ever.
“Hi momma,” you murmur. She squeezes you a little then lets you go. Right behind her is your dad, who quietly pulls you in for a hug.
“When did you get here? How did you get here?” you ask, looking from her to your dad. They smile at you, then look to Henry. You turn to him, the question in your eyes.
“Happy birthday, y/n,” he says simply, smiling warmly at you. You smile at him with tears in your eyes. You reach out and hug him tightly. Letting go of the hug, you escort him around the room, making the rounds and introducing him to everyone. You start with your parents.
“Henry, this is my mom, Helen and my dad, Thomas,” you explain, pointing to each respectively. With a warm smile, Henry shakes their hands.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Henry,” Helen says and you nod.
“Yeah, thanks for doing this for us,” Thomas adds and you realize you don’t know who planned this.
“Speaking of, can someone please explain to me how you came to be here?” you ask and Henry smiles wide. Before he can say anything, though, Kyle answers.
“Well, when a mommy and a daddy love each other very much,” he begins. Henry is already laughing, but you are rolling your eyes.
“Henry, this is my brother Kyle,” you say. “He’s the weird one,” you state and Kyle scoffs.
“You’re one to talk,” he retorts, rolling his eyes at you.
“Y/n, Kyle,” your mom starts, disapprovingly. “Henry, I’m so sorry, they are always bickering,” she says, looking pointedly at the two of you.
“It’s not my fault he always starts things,” you say as Kyle scoffs.
“Oh, puh-lease,” Kyle proclaims. “You always start it,” he points a finger at you.
“Get your finger out of my face,” you say cooly.
“It’s not in your face,” Kyle replies, still pointing.
“Yes, it is,” you say, batting away his finger. Huffing, Kyle slaps at your hand resulting in the two of you getting into a hand slapping fight. Helen and Thomas laugh and look at Henry with an apologetic look.
“Alright, knock it off,” Thomas demands after a moment and the two of you stop. You and Kyle are huffing slightly, though also giggling at the same time. Moments later, Marshall, Kyle’s boyfriend saddles up to the four of you, introducing himself to Henry. When you catch a break, you pull Henry toward your older brother Jeremy.
“Henry, this is Gary, my older brother,” you say, smiling wide at him. Jeremy rolls his eyes and shakes his head.
“Hi, I’m Jeremy,” he says to Henry, overemphasizing the pronunciation of his name. “Y/n still calls me Gary because she couldn’t say Jeremy when she was little,” he explains and Henry chuckles, bobbing his head in understanding.
“She also couldn’t say ‘Burger King’,” Kevin says, stepping next to Jeremy. “She kept calling it ‘Booger King’, so we just started calling her booger,” he states, smiling devilishly at you.
“Ha. Ha,” you bark, snarling at Kevin. Jeremy shakes his head at you and sighs. Avoiding a fight with Kevin, you make a point to introduce Henry to Rebecca - Jeremy’s wife and Ellen - Kevin’s girlfriend. Everyone greets Henry with warmth and kindness. The rest of the morning you spend your time joking with your brothers and checking to make sure Henry was okay. Your family almost loses it when you announce that you have landed a contract with National Geographic. Though you can’t go over the details, they are thoroughly impressed. That admiration takes a quick nose dive moments later as Kevin and Kyle make a point to incessantly tease you about it. Eventually, your mom makes it clear she wants to do something that will prevent you and your brothers from fighting. Already, you and Kevin had gotten into a battle of wits which ended up in a yelling match.
“You’re not my favorite person today,” you bark at Kevin.
“I’m not your favorite person any day,” he replies and you just sneer at him, getting ready to reply, but your mom intervenes.
“Enough! Goodness, y’all are meaner than hornets in a coke can!” she exclaims. Her cute sayings always have a way of softening even the hardest of the hard. You glance at Kevin who gives you a look that asks for a truce. You nod gently in agreement. “How about we give our gifts to y/n?” Helen glares pointedly at Kevin. He agrees and makes the announcement to everyone what is going on. Everyone runs to their luggage to get what they need, then reconvene in James’ living room. Your parents start by handing you a heavy box. Opening it, you find a framed review about your documentary in the West Virginia Times.
“Holy shi-,” you begin to say before cutting yourself off. “This is amazing!” you show Henry who admires it before passing it to James. You jump up and hug your parents, thanking them profusely for the gift. Next, Jeremy hands you a small box covered in Superman wrapping paper. “Oh my gosh,” you mutter, laughing as you show Henry.
“The girls bought it for you,” Jeremy explains. “And Dylan picked out the wrapping paper,” he adds. Opening the gift, you find a large heart shaped locket.
“Awww,” you pull it out to show everyone who also coo at the costume jewelry. Putting it on, your mom snaps a picture of it as does Becca, so she can show the girls later. Kevin and Ellen hand you a small box as well. Inside is a beautiful journal that Ellen admits is handmade by Kevin. He smiles sheepishly as you admire the leather bound book with pride. Kyle gives you a family portrait that he drew and framed. Marshall gives you a hilarious Dolly Parton salt and pepper shaker that he found in an antique store in Austin. James hands you his gift, which is a framed poster for your movie that was sent to the different film festivals. You show your mom who wipes away tears as she hands it to your dad. Finally, it’s Henry’s turn. He hands you what appears to be a t-shirt box wrapped in lavender paper, your favorite color. Tearing open the box and seeing what’s inside you begin to laugh hysterically. Turning the box around you show your family a stack of Superman comic books.
“I’m helping to round out her collection,” Henry explains sending you into another fit of hysterical laughing. Your family laughs along with you, though a little confused since they aren’t aware of the context. While you laugh, your mom gets up and moves into the kitchen. She comes out with a chocolate cake covered in frosting and candles. While eating, Henry chats with Jeremy, explaining that he got you the comic books to make up for the overwhelming Batman collection.
“That’s probably my fault,” Jeremy replies. “I was a huge fan of the Adam West Batman show growing up. I kind of forced her to watch with me,” he says and Henry chuckles.
“I’m actually a fan of Batman as well,” he says to a surprised Jeremy. “Yeah, I grew up reading all the comic books. My brothers and I were obsessed with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman - all of them,” he says. Jeremy nods in agreement. A commotion cuts through the conversation as everyone turns to see you and Kyle wrestling over something. Kyle gets the drop on you and ends up half sitting, half laying on your back.
“UGH!” you scream. “You’re crushing my spleen!”
“You don’t even know where your spleen is,” Kyle retorts before getting off of you. Jeremy chuckles and shakes his head.
“Those two,” he mutters mostly to himself, but also to Henry.
“All of you, but those two specifically, remind me of my own brothers and I,” Henry states and Jeremy laughs.
“Constant chaos and blood?” Jeremy asks and Henry snorts.
“Pretty much,” He says, laughing.
“How many brothers do you have?” Jeremy asks.
“Three older and one younger,” he says. Jeremy looks at him wide eyed.
“Five boys?” he hisses after doing the mental math. “Well shoot, I thought we were trouble with three, but five?” he repeats. Henry laughs and nods his head.
“Yeah, the uh, the Cavill boys were known pretty well across the island,” Henry says, chuckling. The two watch as Thomas steps over to where Kyle and you are, giving the two of you stern, disapproving looks. You trot over to Jeremy and Henry, obliging your dad’s orders to walk away.
“Hey, what are y’all talking about?” you ask.
“Jeremy’s just telling me all of your embarrassing stories,” Henry says, giving you a haughty look.
“Ha!” you bark. “Jeremy doesn’t even know half of them!” Jeremy shakes his head slightly.
“I don’t even want to know the half I already know,” he states and you bob your head. Henry chuckles, shaking his head at you. The day progresses with you and Henry having varying conversations with just about everyone in your family. You chat with Rebecca about the kids and with Ellen about teaching. Kyle tells you about the different art projects he’s been commissioned to create as well as the gallery Marshall is hosting for him later in the year. Eventually, someone convinces Jeremy to bring out the guitar.
“Jeremy was basically a musical prodigy, but he wanted to do more than pluck guitar strings, so he became a firefighter,” you explain to Henry, who watches your brother with new admiration. Sitting on the couch, Jeremy tunes his guitar while everyone murmurs. Then he plays a few strings effortlessly, before looking around the room.
“What would you like to hear?” he asks. No one says anything at first, so Jeremy just starts playing. It takes you a second to get the song in your head, but soon you realize he’s playing a Los Lonely Boys song. “Blame it On Love” to be exact. Knowing the song well, you harmonize with him as he plays and sings with ease. You catch a glimpse of Henry out of the corner of your eye. He’s watching you sing, a small smile teasing the corners of his mouth. When Jeremy finishes the first song, you feel Henry’s eyes boring into you.
“I didn’t know you could sing,” he murmurs, looking down at you surprised.
“Not really,” you reply and hear Jeremy snort.
“That’s a load of bull,” he calls out, thumbing a few strings. “Y/n performed in her 8th grade talent show with this song right here,” he states, beating the opening bars of “Born To Fly” by Sarah Evans on the base of the guitar. You tip your head back and laugh deeply before singing along to one of your favorite songs from your childhood. Your brothers join in when necessary to harmonize, adding layers to the impromptu mini-concert. Occasionally, you’d catch Henry’s eye. You could see him watching you with awe the entire time and you feel yourself turning red as you continue. When it’s done, everyone claps and again, you feel Henry’s eyes boring into you. As inconspicuous as possible, you glance at Henry. He’s beaming at you in a way that sends a wave of heat throughout your body.
“That was incredible,” Henry says to you excitedly. You feel your cheeks burn bright with embarrassment. “Did you win?” he asks, looking between you and Jeremy.
“Nah, I lost out to Rachel Lipinski,” you say, rolling your eyes. “All because she grew two cup sizes one month before the talent show,” you mutter and Henry chuckles at you. Jeremy plucks at the strings a little before starting “You Make it Easy” by Jason Aldean. You see Henry perk up with recognition and you watch as he mouths along to the words. Feeling bold, you stand up, tugging on his hand and pull him up with you. There, in front of your family, you dance and sway to the melody, holding Henry close to you. Pretty soon, your parents, Kevin and Ellen, as well as Kyle and Marshall have joined you. You are all dancing while Jeremy plays. “Best birthday ever,” you murmur, leaning your head onto his chest. He smiles softly, kissing the top of your head.
After Jer is done playing, everyone agrees it’s time for dinner. Henry suggests everyone get dressed up to go out to a restaurant in London. Despite trying to get your family to disagree with this idea, they think Henry’s suggestion is a great idea. You squint at him as your family rushes around the house to get ready.
“Henry, I know you paid to get everyone here,” you say to him, low. “This is too much,” you add. Henry cocks his head, looking at you with a slightly bemused look.
“Are you happy?” he asks.
“I mean, yes, but,” you huff, ready to argue more, but Henry reaches down, pulling your hand up to his lips.
“If you are happy, then all of this is worth every penny spent,” he murmurs, grazing his lips across your knuckles. Those blue eyes watch as you take a deep breath in and shift on your feet.
“This is a lot of money,” you whine.
“And I have a lot of money to spare,” he replies. You stare up at him, rolling your jaw, trying to come up with a comeback. Unfortunately, you are coming up short. Henry can see the inner battle you are having with yourself. He takes your hand and places it on his shoulder then brings your other arm up as well. “I know how much I’m spending. My intent isn’t to make you uncomfortable, but to make you happy,” he explains quietly. You sigh.
“I know,” you reply, feeling guilty. “I’m just not used to this level of attention. I’m very,” you pause, searching for the word you want to use.
“Stubborn? Hard-headed? Ridiculous?” Henry offers, raising an eyebrow at you.
“Independent,” you say through gritted teeth. He smirks.
“You know, you’d feel a lot better if you would just let me take care of you,” Henry states. Your jaw drops open.
“I do let you take care of me!” you exclaim and Henry bellows.
“You typically fight me tooth and nail,” he laughs. You scrunch your nose up at the statement. “Now, come on. Go back to your flat, get dressed, and I’ll pick you up,” he brushes your cheek. Twitching your nose, you stand up on your tiptoes to kiss him. He smiles at you as you walk away to head back to your flat. Henry picks you up about an hour later and drives you to the restaurant. Dinner with your family is a complete success. Everyone has fun eating, laughing, and teasing you about, well, everything. After dinner, everyone hugs and says goodbye. You make plans with your family to see them again tomorrow, then leave with Henry.
“I have something else for you,” Henry says when it’s just the two of you. You look up at him confused. From behind his back, he produces a small bag. “I’m pretty sure I’ll be off filming by the time our anniversary comes around," he explains as he hands you the bag. “So this is one part birthday, one part anniversary gift,” he says. Seeing the size of the bag, you gasp.
“Is this my keychain?” you whisper emphatically.
“No,” Henry chuckles.
“Well shucks, sugar,” you say. “Now I feel bad. I didn’t get you anything,” you glance up at Henry who is watching you intently.
“Your answer will be my gift,” he replies, low. You look up at him confused, but then proceed to open the gift. From the bag, you produce a small box. Your breath catches in your throat as you begin to imagine what small, shiny, circular item could be inside. Opening the lid, you don’t see what you expected. Instead, you see a set of house keys. You look up at Henry even more confused. “I know you said to wait until our anniversary, but as I said,” he trails off. You look back down at the keys as you realize what he’s asking you. “Will you move in with me?” he whispers. Your head snaps up and you look into his eyes.
“Yes,” you whisper. You can see tears in the corners of his eyes as a wide, beautiful smile breaks out across his face. “Yes,” you repeat louder. Henry responds by wrapping his arms around you and picking you up. The two of you are laughing as he spins you around for the second time that day. “Although, you missed a perfectly good opportunity for that keychain,” you state, coming up from a passionate kiss. Henry simply grunts as he carries you back to the bedroom.

let’s introduce you to ( rou namin ), they are a ( twenty three ) year old ( bae suzy ) lookalike living in ( songpa-gangdong ). this particular ( cisfemale ) has been living in seoul for ( twelve years ) and has gained the title of being ( the bellwether ) during that time, which is probably because of their ( adaptable & daring, yet private & messy ) tendencies. not to mention ( she ) currently works as an ( author ), and can been seen hanging around ( bicena ) in their free time.
yeehaw !!! i’m CARSON, i’m 17, & i live in CST. before the revamp i played: CELESTE, AM, & AIMEE !!! this was the first rpg i joined when i got back on tumblr after roughly three to four years and i’m so glad to be back !!! my discord is big strap energy™#3600 so hmu for plots n shit !!!
born in jinhae, south korea in the summer of nineteen ninety-five right before a young couple was due to go off to college - rou namin was hardly planned by any stretch of the imagination. still, determined to make it work for their new family unit, her parents worked several jobs and lived in a studio apartment. both of her parents loved her with all of their hearts and regardless of how terrible of a day it was, coming home to both each other and their daughter always made them forget about their day.
after her parents graduated, they picked up even more jobs, struggling to find jobs that fit their degrees in both primary school education and engineering. namin never knew about her family’s struggles growing up though, always making up elaborate stories on why she couldn’t have something, or why her home was so different than her friends (and she was willing to tell them to anyone that would listen to them.) as soon as she could write, she’d write down stories upon stories. journals would fill up within a week with stories, quickly resulting in a bookshelf almost entirely for them.
aged eleven, her parents were finally able to find jobs for their degrees, all the way in seoul. packing up the family, they promptly moved there when the school year ended. in an attempt to make sense of leaving everything she’s known behind, she throws herself into writing. which quickly turns into writing small fanfictions online, which turns into short stories, and i think you get where this is going.
by age sixteen, she published her first book. while it wasn’t a best seller by any means, it gained a decent following on the internet. slowly, she started getting more and more books published, eventually trying to branch out and write lgbt+ stories (which definitely gained traction) .by the time she graduated school, she had sold one of her books to become a movie and she got dat MONEY BITCHES !!!!!!
lowkey, she blew a good amount of that money cause she stupid n vain but whatever
she literally just keeps publishing books and keeps getting money so now she rich and wants to be a sugar momma
wanted connections
i want dat gay shit
i want dat angst
i’m tired ya’ll just hmu

NHL!Jack & Blogger!Bitty
The thing Jack loves about Bittle Bakes is that the recipes are so damn easy to follow. The YouTuber not only writes the ingredients down, but goes through each step no matter how many times he’s shown it before. Every time he starts a recipe he’ll go through everything you’ll need, from spoons to butter, and never stops half way through to add in something ‘extra’ he’d forgotten to mention. For Jack, that kind of planning and preparedness is ideal He loves it.
He doesn’t love the calorie intake, the sugar, the oil, the butter (so much butter, seriously) or how good everything looks at the end. He sighs as he watches Eric pull out another perfect pie from the oven and smile at the camera. It’s unfair. Jack has the blogger on mute, because he’s supposed to be watching tape, not sitting on his laptop watching Eric, but he allows himself the distraction. Tater is sleeping on the couch beside him, and Poots is texting his latest girlfriend, not even bothering to look at the screen where padded bodies are slamming each other into the walls.
Jack looks back at the laptop screen and Eric is chatting away, silently. He looks great, which Jack is pleased with. Although Eric didn’t ever talk about his love life, it wasn’t hard to work out what had been going on the last couple of months.
He’s started making decadent desserts and sinful amounts of chocolates - about three months ago. Then after about a month it was what Jack (and everyone else who followed Bitty Bakes) knew to be ‘date night’ dinners - small servings of delicate morsels that looked stunning when plated up, a delight to the senses. That lasted about two months before a tired eyed Eric had posted a ‘quick and easy meal for one’ which screamed Comfort Food. His eyes had stayed sad for a week or so, but the twinkles was back, and looking just as put together as before. Jack had seen the highs and lows with Poots almost every other month, so it was easy to tell that Eric had broken up with his partner. Jack didn’t want to say ‘boyfriend’ but he kinda thought…
Shitty would probably yell at him for making assumptions - but Eric was small, compact but fit in a way that made Jack think he knew his way around a gym, with these big brown eyes that seemed to glow in the light of the kitchens he worked in. His endearments to the camera felt warm and personable, and - yeah - a little gay?
Scrap that, Shitty would definitely yell at him.
Jack looked at the pie Eric was now cutting into, flakey crust and deep red filling that oozed out, staining the plate and the knife Eric worked with. He picked up his pen and looked at the pad of paper he had been working on, hockey plays in the margins.
He wondered if he could substitute the cherry filling for some kind of protein mix. His last attempt was… edible. Kinda. He ate it, at least. Tater had screwed up his face and only eaten the small slice Jack had handed him. Maybe he could improve. He got some nice comments on his blog though. Mostly on his photography of the pie.
His blog (Laurent Makes Food) wasn’t popular. In fact, he had 43 followers and he was sure 10 of them were spam bots, but he didn’t mind. It wasn’t the feedback he did it for.
“You need to focus on something.” His therapist has said, when she’s suggested it. “Perhaps a blog where you could write about something. Not Hockey or school.” She added, when he opened his mouth. He had just finished his online courses. He’d graduated 4 years too late, but he’d done it all the same. She knew he was at a loose end with what to do with his time now that he wasn’t studying. His nutritionist was on his back about his diet, and Jack just wanted to shut both of them up (he knew they were both doing their jobs, and doing them well, but that didn’t help him when he felt the pressure behind his eyes) and he’d said he was going to do a blog. About his diet.
It hadn’t been… difficult… but it had been time consuming. Which was actually exactly what he needed to fill his evenings. He made the food - taking pictures of the process, he took photographs of the food when it was finished, and he wrote about how he made the food - while he ate the food.
Normally all his meals were stone cold, because he found he enjoyed making sure the plate was shown to it’s best advantage, getting the angles correct for the best picture. He’d went and bought a fancy camera with different lenses and a light box and everything. He’d been experimenting with tilt photography. His meals were mostly cold. His pictures were lovely though.
The food was… well… he could eat it. That's what mattered, right?
-
Bitty was stuck. His viewers were already getting bored of the ‘cooking for one’ videos he had put up and he was shocked at just how astute a whole lot of strangers had been about his break up, considering he’d never mentioned - couldn’t mention it - on his channel. Maybe Harris was right - he really was just too obvious. Just thinking about his ex made Bitty want to punch something, hard. He hadn’t been able to tell anyone about Harris - the other man far too worried that the wrong people would find out, which Bitty wholeheartedly understood. But after two months of secret meetings and ‘dates’ where Harris would find a hundred other excuses to not go anywhere…
Bitty would be the first to admit that he’d been a little lust dumb when Harris had smiled and told him that there was no need to take him to a fancy restaurant when Eric could cook just as well as anyone in Georgia - and wasn’t it just much more romantic at home?
He rolled his eyes and clicked through pinterest without seeing anything that caught his attention. He really was a dumb blond sometimes - Harris wasn’t even that subtle about the whole closeted thing. Eric was out - he was out the moment he moved out of his childhood bedroom and although his momma sometimes tripped up over the ‘nice girl’ he was supposed to meet one day, his father was… a rock. It was Coach who introduced him to Harris, actually, which was nice and unexpected and made Eric's heart hurt in a good way.
Harris was one of Coaches ‘boys’ who made it big. He was a good looking guy, all brawny and tan, and Eric knew the moment that they’d exchanged glances that he was interested in Eric. Which was nice. And the sex was pretty good. But the pressure of being a Queer footballer was just…
Eric had expected them the break up. He’d expected it - but it still hurt. Especially because Harris had blamed him for being the problem. Because Eric was too obviously gay. Like Eric was wrong for liking Beyonce or baking or bow ties.
He was getting himself all riled up again - which solved nothing - when he saw it.
His pie.
But not his pie. Some… frankensteined version of his pie. He prided himself on that distinctive lattice - and someone had butchered it.
The tiny baby jesus himself could not have stopped Bitty from clicking the link.
Laurent Makes Food. Well, at least it was descriptive, Bitty admitted to himself. He’d seen a lot of blogs with titles that gave zero indication what the actual blog was about, but, okay - Laurent apparently makes food. Or at least tried to make food, bless his heart. It was a basic (ha) blog with some absolutely stunning pictures of terrible looking food. The text was… dry.
Oh, the poor dear had actually linked Erics recipe too - and then explained why he had decided to destroy a 5 time county fair winning recipe because… his nutritionist… oh.
Oh.
That was interesting. He was trying take make healthy versions of Erics food. Because (he preened a little) they looked so good but he wasn’t allowed to eat half the stuff in them.
Erics brain mentally calculated the supplies in his kitchen and frowned. Hmm… He had time to pop along to Costco and buy some more butter and a few extras… it wouldn’t be hard. He’d fed a few footballers in his time - low fat, high protein diets on a larger scale…
