Another story outline from the plot bunnies...
So tbh I wrote this outline where Wei Wuxian would inherent the Wen sect (not just the small group, but I mean the entire WEN SECT) maybe a few weeks ago.
I’m sure other’s have had similar ideas but dammit if there can be a bazillion coffee shop AU then I’m having this []~( ̄▽ ̄)~*
It starts at the Gusu Recess studies. Along the way to pick up the Heaven’s Smile wine WWX meets Wen Xu who is in disguise, he is trying to get intel with Gusu. WWX does not know who he really is, just thinks he is a friendly traveler and gives him the extra wine bottle for catching him.
WWX still has that sword fight scene with Lan Wangji on the rooftop.
Instead of Wen Chao of bringing Wen Qing and Wen Ning, it’s Wen Xu. Instead of leaving, he makes a show how the Lan’s should host the Wen’s for their extensive travel for just a few days. It’s because of this he hears WWX explanation about using resentful energy and sends a note to his father.
WWX still gifts the rabbits and gives the drawing. However, there is an uneasiness when he catches Wen Xu looking at him. Lan Wangji is sure to remind Wen Xu that bothering other’s prohibited in Gusu. A few days later Wen Xu leaves, which let’s WWX relax. Finally, he’s gone. At first he was friendly, but he creeped out WWX, looking at him as if he was some prize. Didn’t matter that he left his gifts here and there. He told him it wasn’t necessary several times. At least with Lan Zhan, he asked if he like it and he did.
When WWX’s kicked out of Gusu Wen Ruohan basically strong-arms Jiang Fengmian into sending WWX to the Nightless city. (Reason range being for disciplinary action to just a significant interest in WWX ideas of cultivation). At the Nightless city, WWX comes across the Yin Metal and studies it with Wen Ruohan’s permission.
During his study, he inadvertently causes the Yin Metal to have an actual conscious. Now Wen Ruohan does everything in his power to keep WWX and considers having  Wen Xu marry him. Wen Xu has no problem, WWX is easy on the eyes and he quite enjoyed WWX’s company.
When WWX sees his family Jiang Cheng attempts to have him run away, but WWX tells him no. Jiang Yanli agree’s regretfully. The Wen’s would use this as an opportunity to trample the Jiang Sect.
They also invite the other Sects, including the Lan’s. Lan Xichen notices that his brother, Lan Wangji’s upset.
They marry but don’t consummate because of WWX’s nervousness (he really didn’t want to). Wen Xu prefers a willing partner and believe’s he has all the time in the world. This is around the time WWX finds out that Wen Ruohan is up to something.
At the Conference Tournament WWX is glad to his family again since the wedding and warns them of the Wen Sect. During the Conference WWX teases Lan Wangji, however, with the ribbon scene Wen Xu stops WWX from fixing it, allowing it to fall. Lan Wangji’s surprised and thanks WX, it will be later on that it leaves him wondering how his ribbon would look in WWX’s hand. With WX and WWX, he verbally accuses WWX of infidelity and if he ever causes another stunt like this again, Lotus Pier will definitely suffer the consequence. WWX did not understand the significance of the ribbon till now.
Wen Ruohan orders the classes, which WWX begs to go. Wen Ruohan allows it because WWX shares what he has learned so far from the Yin Metal. It especially pleases him he can now control the sentient being. His worry was it would be too independent, but with WWX’s constant contact it seems he has nothing to worry about.
WWX’s forced to watch the farce of a class. Even faces the blatant disrespect from Wen Chao, who hates how much attention he is getting from his father. Only reason he does not punish him is because he knows his brother is sweet on him.
He gets some medicinal herbs to give to Lan Zhan Thank you Wen Ning for the herbs.; he refuses. He has a feeling that they broke his leg because of his association with WWX. Wen Xu seemed especially pleased.
The Tortoise Cave event happens with a few differences (WWX stopped Wang Lingjiao from harming Mianmian. WWX does not receive the branding, but Wen Chao threatened to inform his brother that WWX was being flirtatious). He’s left in the cave with the other’s as he didn’t want to leave them. Jiang Cheng tries his hardest to convince him to come with them, to go back to Lotus Pier. Doesn’t happen, and a disciple has to force Jiang Cheng to escape.
They defeat the Tortoise, and just stay together reminiscing the days in Gusu. WWX also thanks him for trying to keep WX away from him. Lan Zhan disagrees as he could not help him since he ended up married to him. They almost kiss, but stop when they hear the Wen soldier’s come back to save WWX (Wen Chao may hate him but he knows his father will punish him severely for leaving him there) WWX is lucky he could hide Lan Zhan who escaped. Lan Zhan didn’t want to leave, but WWX could be very convincing when he wanted to. This act will haunt Lan Zhan for days.
Wen Ruohan is furious with WWX that he orders his golden core  destroyed. He won’t let go of him though, as WWX is an investment for him. Wen Xu may have held him as he laid in their bed in shock.
The War starts and Wen Xu leaves. Wen Qing is told to monitor him as he heals. He convinces Wen Qing that Wen Ruohan will end up destroying the Wen Sect with his greed.
Note: he has no love for the Wen’s at the moment. They kidnapped him from home, forced him to marry someone and punished him by destroying his core. He intends to help the other Sects. As time goes on, he sees how some of these cultivators are not glad or how they’re tortured for going against orders. He’s lucky that he could find a group that feared what would happen to their sect.
Wen Qing is a valuable ally, and they rally up soldiers that will stage a coup. It’s dangerous and they know other sects will talk about them, but they have their families to think about. That’s how they meet Meng Yao, who sends word to Lan Xichen that they have help on the inside.
Wen Xu dies. It confuses WWX how he should feel. On one hand, he was the man he’s forced to marry. Though, he kept his distance from him and never forced himself on him. He resolves to wear the mourning clothes, but not for long. Wei Wuxian was married to him, but he didn’t love him. It was a forced marriage. Which is sad for Wen Xu. His last thoughts was when he first met WWX and how he smiled at him when they first met. (Yes, I threw some angst)
Wen Ruohan finds out about WWX's coup and uses him as an example when he finds traitors in his midst. Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan try to save him, and both Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue attack Wen Ruohan to stop him. They are all surprised when the Yin Metal refuses to kill him and Meng Yao appears from behind to kill him.
Seeing as the heirs are dead and WWX was the husband of Wen Xu he now inherent’s the Sect. (Can that happen? I sincerely doubt it, but it’s a fanfic story.)
Now that the Wen Sect  is in the hands of Wei Wuxian things can get somewhat normal.....
This is where the b.s. starts
So the whole one-sided Wen Xu and Wei Wuxian came out of left field. Not planned, just came out of nowhere. It was mostly to introduce how Wen Ruohan would get Wei Wuxian into the sect. I mean, Wangxian was planned, but then Xuxian just came out of nowhere and wanted to overwhelm this outline! w(゚Д゚)w
There is a second part, but it doesn’t have the ending. I’m open to suggestions on what to call this au. Like, I have no idea what to call it.
Edit: I’m calling this the WenWuxianau

I’m tired, I should be studying, instead I wrote this little ficlet that should probably be the prologue to an actual fic that I might get around to writing (fingers crossed).
We have Immortals, modern sects, and porn. Not entirely sure how else to explain it except none of those are explicit, lol.
Hope you enjoy the product of my mildly sleep deprieved brain!
Being invited to have tea with Zewu-Jun was a high honor, despite the immortal seemingly trying to downplay it as much as he possibly could. However, Nie Mingjue isn’t entirely sure what he’s done to earn the honor. It’s been a long time since either Twin Jade was the Sect Leader, Nie Mingjue has spoken with the current Sect Leader Lan Tengfei infrequently over the years when their sect business intermingled or there was a conference, but he wasn’t particularly close to the Lan Sect. And the Twin Jades enjoy their privacy. Enough so that there’s not a single photograph of either of them out there.
So it was very startingly to get the invitation.
Zewu-Jun treating him like an equal and friend is equally startling.
Somehow, not the most startling thing to happen on the trip. No, that would be the portrait of Wei Wuxian. Nie Huaisang’s husband. He thinks. Nie Mingjue isn’t actually sure if they’re married or just act like it. Although, knowing them, that’s how they want everyone to think.
Still, the clearly very old portrait of Wei Wuxian was a little disturbing. Especially with the name below being Wei Wuxian’s, correct characters and all. Even more so after Zewu-Jun noticed him staring at it and decides to give him some utterly terrible information.
“My brother’s husband, from his first life.” Oh. It was that Wei Wuxian. Yiling Lazou Wei Wuxian.
How is this getting worse?
“Oh?” Because screaming was undignified and not something to be done in front of immortals. Later. In his car. And then he’s calling Nie Huaisang to yell at him because of course his brother just had to shake up with the immortals husband. Maybe. Maybe it’s just a massive coincidence. (Nie Mingjue’s luck is never good enough for coincidences.)
“Yes, after the resurrection his core was never strong enough to cultivate immortality. When Wangji realized it, he tried to stop his own cultivation, but it was too late. Wuxian lasted nearly two hundred years, and not a day goes by that Wangji doesn’t miss him.” Oh, Zewu-Jun was sad. Nothing Nie Mingjue can say will make him not sad. In fact, he’s pretty sure anything close to the truth of what Wei Wuxian is doing now will just upset him. “The juniors find it, romantic, that he’s decided to wait for Wuxian to be reincarnated.”
Well. It does sound romantic.
But Zewu-Jun’s face, he’s irritated and upset, so clearly he doesn’t agree with the juniors. It sounds romantic, but the reality, “He must be very lonely.” Nie Mingjue guesses.
Zewu-Jun nods, “We have each other, but we were the only ones from our generation to cultivate immortality. There are many people we miss, and as time seperates us further from the present, it’s harder to connect with the new disciples.” Zewu-Jun admits. Nie Mingjue nods, he’s never considered that. How isolating it must be to have lived so long. The Nie clan, doesn’t really get immortals. Honestly, they’re lucky if they hit a hundred. Most top out at eighty due to their cultivation style.
“How would he know, that he’s been reincarnated? I mean, I think Huaisang’s said some things about faces getting reused due to limited genetics and the growing population.” Actually Wei Wuxian said that. Something to that effect at least. Nie Huaisang was better with people and manipulating situations. He does really well running the business side of the Nie Sect. Even if he refuses to accept any credit.
Zewu-Jun smiles a little sadly, “Well, I suppose we’ll know when we see him. Pictures work well enough, as we’re learning. We’ve found a few people who we knew in our first lives reincarnated.”
Nie Mingjue nods, he should tell Zewu-Jun. He really should. Maybe it’s just a look alike. Unlikely. Nie Mingjue’s never that lucky. Nie Mingjue’s started to pull his phone out of his pocket before remembering his manners and asking while holding it in front of himself, “Uh, do you mind if I?” Zewu-Jun furrows his brow but gestures for him to continue. Nie Mingjue nods and opens his phone, scrolling through the pictures Nie Huaisang had sent him. Not for the first time, he really wished Nie Huaisang wouldn’t send so many half-naked or fully-naked pictures of Wei Wuxian to him. Thankfully, it was not all Nie Huaisang sent to him, so he did come across a picture of a fully dressed Wei Wuxian. Nie Huaisang was also there, but they weren’t doing anything. Nie Huaisang had snapped it while they were out walking and Nie Mingjue had wanted to know where the fuck Nie Huaisang had gone at one am. “Just, uh, he seemed familiar.” Nie Mingjue explains, turning the phone around to show Zewu-Jun.
Zewu-Jun blinks then reaches out, hesitating a moment before taking Nie Mingjue’s phone. “That. Is definitely Wei Wuxian.” Zewu-Jun states, and then he starts touching the screen, which makes Nie Mingjue very nervous and uncomfortable. Because Nie Huaisang sends him very questionable pictures. Nie Mingjue is happy his brother is comfortable with his body, he just wishes he wouldn’t text him explicit pictures of his maybe-boyfriend that sometimes also have him naked in them. Nie Huaisang has always like pushing Nie Mingjue’s boundaries, and honestly, Nie Mingjue would rather he be pushing this one than certain other ones. Still. It makes him nervous when Zewu-Jun taps his phone and his eyes blow wide.
Yeah. That’s not good.
Zewu-Jun blinks and regains his composure, handing the phone back, “May I ask how you know him?”
“...How honest do you want me to be?” Nie Mingjue asks, shutting off his phone and pocketing it without looking at whatever Zewu-Jun saw. He’d like to be able to keep looking Zewu-Jun in the eye for this conversation.
Zewu-Jun raises an eyebrow, almost admonishingly, “As honest as possible. You don’t seem to type to beat around the bush.”
He wasn’t. He just really didn’t want to tell Zewu-Jun what Nie Huaisang and Wei Wuxian get up to.
“He works with my brother.” Nie Mingjue states vaguely, earning another raised eyebrow from Zewu-Jun.
“Is he a cultivator?”
“Used to be. He had a big falling out with the Jiang a few years back and kind of stopped.” Nie Mingjue shrugs, “He doesn’t talk about it.” All he knew about it was rumour. And the Lans don’t do rumours.
“Ah. So what work does he do with Huaisang?”
...Did he tell Zewu-Jun his brothers name? Nie Huaisang is almost as unknown to the world as the Twin Jades. Purposefully so. The Nie have always been rather private with their members, but when Nie Huaisang was old enough to have an opinion on a public presence and vehemently deny having one, nothing about him was released to the public. Not even other cultivation sects as Nie Huaisang wasn’t a practicing cultivator. He trained. As he was supposed to. But he didn’t do any night hunts. He had no connection to Nie Mingjue on the business end of the Sect either.
So, what?
“How do you know his name?” Nie Mingjue asks, making Zewu-Jun blink in plain confusion. “Huaisang’s name isn’t known to anyone outside the Nie sect. Not in connection to me.” Nie Mingjue states, now a little angry. Did someone tell Zewu-Jun? Who? How? Why would he even care about Huaisang?
“He’s in your phone.” Zewu-Jun states simply.
And that’d be a fine answer.
If Nie Huaisang was ‘Huaisang’ in his phone.
But he wasn’t.
He was Reuben. Courtesy of Wei Wuxian. (Wei Wuxian was ‘Stitch’, no Nie Mingjue didn’t understand the names and he didn’t really want to. He’s mostly worried it’s a weird sex thing and he prefers to be as ignorant as possible in that aspect.)
“I thought Lan’s don’t lie.” Although, Zewu-Jun wasn’t, technically, lying.
But he doesn’t deny it. “Could we sit?” Zewu-Jun suggests, gesturing to the table that had been set up for them. Nie Mingjue nods and sits opposite to Zewu-Jun, pouring them some tea. “I apologize for the deception, however I’ve never actually done this before.” He better not be suggesting what Nie Mingjue thinks he’s suggesting. “In the recent past, when we’ve discovered our reincarnated friends, we’ve more or less left them alone.” Oh. Good. He’s not being propositioned.
Wait.
What?
Nie Mingjue blinks, now thoroughly caught off guard, “Um. What.”
Zewu-Jun smiles gently, understandingly, “Due to certain aspects of your previous life, I felt the need to check in on you, make sure you were doing well. I, well, I assumed your family was the same. Hence, why I know Huaisang’s name despite you keeping him rather off the grid.”
“He’s not off the grid. He just has no public connection to me.” Nie Huaisang was almost constantly online. Especially with his ‘job’.
“Ah. So, what work does he and Wei Wuxian do?” Zewu-Jun asks before taking a drink of his tea.
Nie Mingjue considers what he knows about the Lan, and then realizes he really doesn’t want to have this conversation. Luckily for him (or unluckily most of the time), he can just show Zewu-Jun on his phone. “Um, you might want to put that down.” Nie Mingjue suggests, pulling out his phone and turning it on, quickly going to the app Nie Huaisang downloaded on his phone that he never goes on, and opens it up to Nie Huaisang and Wei Wuxian’s account. Sliding it across the table as Zewu-Jun dubiously puts down his teacup.
Zewu-Jun blinks, then sighs, “I can’t say, I’m particularly surprised with Wei Wuxian’s career choice.”
“...Seriously.”
“You did not hear them. I’m aware of the publics perception of us, particularly Wangji, but trust me. He’s not nearly as prudish as people seem to think.” Zewu-Jun states, sliding the phone back with a rueful smile and a familiar look.
Nie Mingjue exits out of the app before shutting off and pocketing his phone. He knew that look. The look of an elder brother who really didn’t need to know so much about their younger brother’s sex life. He knew that look well. “Right. Speaking of Hanguang-Jun, how would he react?”
Zewu-Jun purses his lips. “I can’t say he’ll be particularly favourable. Wangji’s always been quite, possessive.”
“Wei Wuxian is persuasive. I’m kind of curious as to who would falter first.” Nie Mingjue snorts, picking up his own cup of tea. It was good tea.
Zewu-Jun’s eyebrows were furrowed, “I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you mean.”
“Wuxian’s not going give up his livelyhood. He enjoys it. Even if he falls back in love with Hanguang-Jun, I’m not sure he’ll quit it.” Nie Mingjue states, shaking his head. It was an understatement. Wei Wuxian loves his job. As he so often gushes. Nie Mingjue’s honestly just happy Wei Wuxian doesn’t give him details.
Zewu-Jun slowly nods, understanding dawning, “You think Wei-gongzi will convince Wangji to do porn.” Zewu-Jun winces, “I, hate that I cannot say it’s out of the realm of possibilities.”
Nie Mingjue snorts and then smirks, “Ah, Zewu-Jun, how about a friendly bet?”
Zewu-Jun’s brows pinch slightly, eye narrowing, before he smirks, “Only if you call me Lan Xichen.”
Ohhhkay. Zewu-Jun had said to at the beginning of their meeting, but Nie Mingjue had honestly kind of ignored it. Immortals are a big deal. But then again. He was about to gamble with one. “Ok, Lan Xichen, why don’t we make a bet in favour of our, brothers.” Nie Mingjue isn’t entirely sure what else to refer to them as. If Nie Huaisang was married, then technically Wei Wuxian would be his brother. If they’re not, he might as well be at this point either way.
“Are Huaisang and Wuxian married?” Lan Xichen cuts in, confused.
“I’m not entirely sure. Maybe. Not important.” Nie Mingjue shakes his head, “If Hanguang-Jun manages to convince Wei Wuxian to quit his work, you win, and if Wei Wuxian manages to convince Hanguang-Jun to do porn, I win.”
Lan Xichen nods, smiling with interest, “And what are we betting?”
Nie Mingjue smirks, this was going to be fun.

My Wife Has An 18 Hour Drive Fic Rec Roundup
I wanted to make a fic rec post for the insane amount of Untamed fic ive been reading anyways, and Chi @got2ghost is driving halfway across the country tomorrow, so there’s no time like the present to put all of the really great fics ive read over the past couple of weeks in one location! Let’s get it poppin!
Ones That Chi Already Read:
A Lot of Edges Called Perhaps by hansbekhart (Wangxian, E, 21k)
The funny part is - and it is a little funny, even if Wei Wuxian has no one left to share the joke with - they never have. Not anything. He has never kissed any part of Lan Zhan besides his slim hands; never been even partially undressed with him anywhere besides a miserable, xuanwu-infested cave. It’s always been like this between them, this simmering need, this desperate understanding: a knowledge so deep that it lives somewhere in his bones, that if he wanted to have Lan Zhan he could have him, and if Lan Zhan wanted Wei Wuxian he could have that too. But they never have.
I found this fic on someone’s blog when they said that it was the definitive fic to read directly after finishing the series so i saved it, read it directly after finishing the series, and felt completely and wholly fulfilled by the resolution found in this fic. 10/10 cant recommend enough.
One Rouge Spark In My Direction by hansbekhart (Lan Wangji/Xiao Xingchen/Song Lan E, 5k)
He’d thought, in Yueyang, that they’d seen something in each other, something familiar. That maybe they’d recognized something in him. But it’s been many years, and many things have happened since, and he’s guessed wrongly at other people’s hearts before. Lan Wangji looks back down at the table, at his steaming, bitter tea. He’ll beg if he has to.
In “A Lot Of Edges Called Perhaps” Wangji mentions that he has had sex before and this is the in-universe story of that time and WHEW BABY!!!! AHHHHHH!!!
Gathered Herbs & Sweet Grasses by hansbekhart (Laz Sizhui & Lan Wangji, G, 19k)
Later, when he’s older, it’s this that A-Yuan will remember most: the stretch of silence, the two of them both dirty and shaking with fever, as he looked at Brother Rich, and Brother Rich looked back at him.
This is a fic about Lan Wangji raising Sizhui from when he brings him back from the Burial Mounds until they bring Wuxian back to Cloud Recesses after he’s resurrected. It made me cry about 18 times and I consider it fully canon in relation to the show. I reread this fic at LEAST once a week. *chefs kiss*
Seldom All They Seem by Fahye (Wangxian, E, 25k)
or, one hundred and thirty-three principles of the Gusu Lan, pertaining to the state of marriage
***
He bows to Wei Wuxian, sword in hand, sleeves falling properly. Wei Wuxian bows in return, and the sect leaders begin the opening courtesies, and for all of ten minutes Lan Wangji is under the impression that he is betrothed to a boy who is perfectly normal and acceptable apart from an unfortunate tendency to fidget with his clothes.
That impression does not last.
A canon-divergent fic exploring “what if Wangji and Wuxian were betrothed from when they were young like Yanli and the peacock?” It’s extremely good and very compelling and also made me cry multiple times. (The confrontation in the rain doesn’t get any easier even if they’re betrothed!)
Half Cloak & Half Dagger by Fahye (Lan Xichen/Meng Yao, E, 13k)
Jin Guangyao lifts his head and smiles. "I'm considering a problem."
"Can I be of any assistance with it?"
He drops a kiss on Lan Xichen's chest. With the nail of one finger he lightly traces the characters for irony on Lan Xichen's side. "Not this one, er-ge."
In the “Seldom All They Seem” universe but focused on xiyao. Has hands down the best written characterization of meng yao in any fic ive read so far. I continuously come back to this fic just to read the absolutely genius way this author writes the Head Bitch In Control of the cultivation world.
Hurricane by gdgdbaby (Wangxian, E, 6k)
"Haven't you heard?" Nie Huaisang replied, clicking his tongue, though he was clearly pleased that he could be the one to break the news. He leaned in to announce with a dramatic flourish: "Lan Wangji just took emergency family leave this past weekend."
WANGXIAN AS SPIRK STAR TREK PON FAR AU!!!!!!!!!!!!! WEEWOO WEEWOO WEEWOO!!!!!!!! This was actually recced to ME by CHI and I have not stopped thinking about this fic for a full month. It’s like author gdgdbaby sat down one day and was like “Tumblr user Liv Scottspack deserves everything she wants in this life.” and then wrote this fic. Thank you author gdgdbaby, I love you.
Ones That Chi Has Yet To Read:
My Age Has Never Made Me Wise by idrilka (Wangxian, E, 63k)
“We hear that His Excellency might be married by summer’s end,” the merchant’s wife says and Wei Wuxian freezes, his heart in his throat. “The Gusu Lan sect has been buying enough red silk and brocade that the merchants in Caiyi can’t satisfy the demand.”
He feels himself grow brittle inside, like a flick of a finger to his temple might make him shatter. His ears are ringing.
“Who’s the lucky bride?” he asks despite himself. His tongue sticks to the roof of his mouth.
Or: The story of a marriage.
I LOVE THIS FIC. The absolute best kind of slow burn and I think such an extremely accurate representation of the canon material. I’m always surprised by the authors in this fandom’s ability to write shit that is so concretely grounded in the universe. This could and should be a real companion novel. Amazing. I love it.
The Year of Drought by idrilka (Wangxian, E, 24k)
Wei Ying could not be contained by the walls of the Cloud Recesses, alive again and overflowing with it, bursting like a dam in spring with the force of two lives unspent. And so he had to go. Lan Wangji understands that—he understood it when Wei Ying told him of his plans, looking at Lan Wangji above the rim of his cup with an apologetic smile, like craving freedom was something to apologize for.
Wei Ying would go, and Lan Wangji would see him off; this has always been the only way it could be.
Or: In the absence of Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji waits.
The previous fic but from Wangji’s perspective. Absolutely required reading if you read the other one. Wangji baby.......i love you.....
A Civil Combpaign by Ariaste (Jin Ling/Lan Sizhui, T, 20k)
“And,” said one of the pompous ministers, “there’s the matter of a marriage to consider as well!”
Jin Ling, who at the beginning of that sentence had expected to slam into the very last wall of his patience and lose his temper entirely, paused. “A what?”
Thing was… it wasn’t such a bad idea.
Jin Ling gets it in his head that as sect leader he should get married and sets his sights on Lan Sizhui. I cannot stress enough how FUCKING CUTE this fic is!!! Sizhui being the best boy! Jin Ling having more uncles than he knows what to do with! Jiang Cheng being the worst at relationship advice! It’s so fucking good it love it so much.
Anyway, Here’s Wuji by kakikaeru (Lan Jingyi/Lan Sizhui, T, 18k)
The melody gets a little clearer when he breaks out of the trees, and Jingyi changes course with certainty, barreling down the back hill and through the Cloud Recesses, dodging scandalized disciples left and right. He throws open the doors to the Receiving Hall without announcement and bows nearly double, eyes on the floor instead of on the shocked faces of the Mei delegation and the impenetrable gaze of the Chief Cultivator.
"Forgive this disciple," Jingyi shouts, because he's going to get punished for rule breaking regardless. "From the back hill, Hanguang-jun, there is a song in the wind!"
Lan Jingyi comes of age.
A Jingyi-central fic about Jingyi growing up and falling in love and being a hero and being the second best boy of my heart right after Sizhui. Not only is this fic sweet and romantic but it’s another one that explores a lot of interesting things within canon and all of the supporting characters are written very well and are just as interesting as second best boy Jingyi.
Ok, JiuJiu by kakikaeru (Jin Ling/Ouyang Zizhen, T, 16k)
Uncle's jaw works in the way that suggests he's about to say something irredeemable. Jin Ling, in a move of diplomacy he hopes the Chief Cultivator appreciates, distracts him with spicy food and his favourite subject: the incompetence of his own officials.
"I hear the lakes in the south east are having drainage problems?" he asks nonchalantly, sticking three big slices of braised pork belly into his Uncle's bowl.
Jin Ling just wants to get through the Discussion Conference with his Sect, his dignity, and his heart intact.
A follow up fic to “Anyways, Here’s Wuji.” I LOVE the Jin Ling/Ouyang Zizhen dynamic of Jin Ling having been raised by Jiang “I keep all my emotions right here and then one day I’ll die” Cheng being hopelessly charmed and smitten with Ouyang “President of the I Love Love Romance Novel Book Club” Zizhen! I LOVE IT! EXTREMELY CUTE!
This Side of Paradise by greenfionn (Wei Wuxian/Wen Qing, E, 3k)
Wei Wuxian does some very quick math in his head that goes something like this: He is pretty sure he’s in love with Lan Zhan - Lan Zhan is not here and likely never will be here - Wen Qing is here, not to mention very hot and let us not forget, actually interested in sex with him - there’s a solid chance he goes genuinely crazy or dies, or both, in the next few months and really, who wants to die a virgin?
Listen.......the fic premise is “Wei Wuxian and Wen Qing, noted bisexuals, figure life sucks enough at the Burial Mounds, they might as well have any fun they can before they die” and........I Am Looking Directly At It. It features Wen Qing bossing Wei Wuxian around and Wei Wuxian’s canon he-wants-to-be-pregnant kink. It’s........I liked it.
To The Act of Making Noise by words-writ-in-starlight (Lan Sizhui & Lan Wangji, G, 19k)
His father in white plays the song late into the night, and when A-Yuan wakes up confused and afraid, the guqin lulls him back to sleep.
Lan Sizhui hears his father play the same song every night for his whole life, and never, ever get an answer.
Another very moving and heartwarming fic about Lan Wangji raising Sizhui and Sizhui figuring out Wangji’s past and then eventually reconnecting with Wei Wuxian. It’s cute and soft and Sizhui is my best boy!
History (Proud To Call Your Own) by words-writ-in-starlight (Wen Ning, G, 5k)
“A-Yuan? Um—Lan-gongzi,” Wen Ning corrects, trying to set a good example. The children are young, seven and eight, exactly a dozen of them lined up in two crisp lines of tiny blue and white robes. Wen Ning can feel them staring at him, even though most of them have already mastered that Lan trick of neutrality. The smallest, a little girl with liquid dark eyes, is clinging to her nearest shijie’s sleeve and half-hiding. “Can I—what can I do for you?”
Wen Ning gets himself recruited for services, while he and Sizhui are visiting Cloud Recesses. Wei Wuxian gets a fan club.
Set in the same universe as “To The Act of Making Noise,” a very cute fic about Wen Ning finding his place in the post-canon world and being proud of his cousin Sizhui and being the world’s best substitute teacher. As the official Wen Ning Fan Club President, I had to include this.
Lan Sizhui's Guide to Courtship by Kimblydot (Lan Sizhui/Lan Jingyi, T, 23k)
In which Jingyi is a little oblivious, Sizhui is patient (and should have said something in the beginning), and everyone else is resigned to watching them dance around each other for far longer than necessary.
(Or: five things Sizhui tries to do in his courtship, and the one time Jingyi realizes there was one happening in the first place.)
I’ll stop describing fics about the juniors as being “cute” when they stop being SO FUCKING CUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
Grow by cafecliche (Lan Sizhui & Wei Wuxian, T, 14k)
“Okay,” Jingyi says, as Sizhui puzzles this out aloud. “Okay! So the demon has been turning its victims into children.”
“I think so,” Sizhui says.
“To make them easier prey,” Jingyi says.
“Yes,” Sizhui says.
“So—” Jingyi’s voice cracks here, “this kid is Senior Wei.”
Wei Wuxian, still tangled in his own massive robes, blinks politely at them.
(Or: Wei Wuxian is cursed on a night-hunt, and the junior quartet rapidly finds themselves in over their heads.)
What I expected to be a goofy, silly fic turned out to be extremely emotional and made me FULLY CRY! It’s a very moving fic about Sizhui coming to understand himself and Wei Wuxian a lot better AND features all of the juniors arguing over who’s turn it is to hold 6 year old Wei Wuxian. A true win/win of a fic.
Your Name, Safe In Their Mouth by astrolesbian (Lan Sizhui & Wei Wuxian, G, 10k)
“You’ve got a fever,” Wei Wuxian says soothingly. “You just keep still as well as you can. We’ll have you fixed up soon.”
Lan Sizhui recognizes his tone—this is the voice that Wei Wuxian uses on hurt people and young children, a very calm and no-nonsense voice that has none of the mischief and cheer of the way he sounds the rest of the time. Lan Sizhui looks up and meets his eyes, and they are dark, stormy gray, muddled and concerned.
“I’m all right,” he croaks.
“Hush,” Wei Wuxian says, in a low croon, like someone quieting a baby. Then he blinks, and looks away, awkward. “I mean—you shouldn’t speak. You’re tired. Rest if you need to.”
or: lan sizhui gets sick on a night hunt. wei wuxian comforts him. they both have a lot of feelings about it.
The Wei Wuxian and Sizhui bonding fic that I so desperately desperately needed to read. Scratched the very particular itch of “but have they REALLY talked about what it means that they’re reunited after 16 years???”
Stainless by Fahye (Wangxian, E, 6k)
"I'm starting to feel," says Lan Xichen, "that this was a counterproductive suggestion."
Wei Wuxian looks down onto the pristine, tranquil cold springs of the Cloud Recesses. Sitting in the water, their bare shoulders rising like dumplings carefully spaced in a steaming-basket, are a large number of Lan disciples.
"They seem to be doing better," he says, encouragingly. "If they--oh, no, I see what you mean."
At the near bank, someone has pressed someone else against the rocks and is kissing them frantically.
It’s smut! What is getting into a new pairing if not an excuse to read sex pollen in new and exciting ways!
Sweet Night by thejillyfish (Wangxian, E, 10k)
It was like coming back to life again, like being restitched into existence, cell by cell, nerve by nerve. From the surface of his skin to the marrow of his bones, everything new and purposeful. Like being pulled back from oblivion into an embrace of pure light. A feeling of absolute asylum.
That’s what it felt like, to realize Lan Wangji was in love with him.
In-show au of “what if they just admitted they’re in love and fucked during episode 43?” Soft and romantic and hot!
Shadows In The Sun Rise by Yuu_chi (Wangxian, E, 25k)
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji says, voice slow and a pitch too quiet. A second later Wei Wuxian understands why. “I cannot hear.”
Or; Lan Wangji is cursed into internal isolation. Their ability to understand one another remains as unwavering as ever.
OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD. I have been thinking about this fic nonstop since I read it. It is.....fucking incredible. One of the best qualities of wangxian is that they’re so in tune with each other and able to work so cohesively with little communication and this fic is like “what if we take that and DIAL IT UP TO ELEVEN” and i was like AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
WHEW OKAY that’s enough for right now!
I’m constantly reading new fics all the time so maybe eventually I’ll make a second one if Chi actually reads/likes any of these (they’re picky!), or if anyone else likes this list and wants updates.
TO CHI: Thank you for getting me into The Untamed! I love you! I had the best time texting you every thought that passed through my head while I watched it. I’ve loved all of the content you’ve sent me from the book and the comic. I’ve loved making fun of Yibo with you. I’ve loved being your fic taste tester. Life sucks right now but at least we have wangxian!
TO EVERYONE ELSE: If you read any of these fics please come to my DMs and talk to me about them! I have a lot of feelings and love to cry over fics! Thank you!

Alright so that letter my mom wrote me...
Let me give some background about my family and upbringing.
I grew up in a rural town in North Carolina. I have two older brothers (by quite a few years) so I was the third male child born to my mother. My parents have been together since they were about 17-18 and are now 60 or almost 60s.
First paragraph is basically about how she stalked my social media and how she thought my social issues and comments about being different were just my shyness, love of tech, and video games. Then she goes on to say the “lifestyle” I have chosen is sin and an abomination unto the lord. Then tries to say that people hide things from their family is because they know it’s wrong.
Like, every time I reread this letter I just wanna laugh, it’s just so ridiculous but I guess since she’s like 60 I can understand why she believes so firmly in all this crap but still it’s just so out there.
Second paragraph she starts talking about how as a little boy I didn’t show any signs of such behavior. She does get the fact that I’m shy, quiet, nervous about change, and always wanted things to stay the same right. Then she goes on to say someone has changed or influenced me in the wrong direction. Next sentence is just insulting “your voice, your features, your manliness, never anything sissy about you”. Like what the fuck? She actually used the word sissy, ugh. Then says if this is what I’ve chosen then I have a lot of explaining to do. She can never tell my dad or brothers about any of it and she has to carry the burden on her own because she thinks it would cause them harm. Then just says that in our past conversations how she questioned me about stuff and how I denied it. Then talks about how the shoes & pants I showed her pics of that I bought. Wow omg god forbid a male wears fucking purple rock climbing shoes because they fit my fucking ankles better (my ankles / achilles is SUPER thin and mens shoes just slip off).
All the GNC signs I showed were met with threats of violence and I was constantly made fun of for my lack of “manliness” by my brothers. Like seriously pants are just fabric cut into specific patterns and then sewn in a certain way to create clothing, it’s not fucking sexed and same with shoes cept leather and rubber instead of fabric, which I guess leather can be a fabric but yeah.
Third paragraph is really just about saying I can’t get a job because of this category of people I belong to because unemployment is 3 times higher for them and just keeps using the word life style lmfao. Maybe it’s actually because the field I’m in and the area I’m in for that field is extremely competitive (software engineering / PNW).
Fourth paragraph she starts quoting scripture from old and new testament, one being Corinthians 6: 9-10 which in modern day translations based on the Greek translation is usually said to mean homosexuals are in sin (specially male).
I have many problems with this because well one the bible was written by men, two it’s been through who fucking knows how many different translations to get to the Greek translation, and three I’m fairly sure the bible is very explicit in the manner in which someone gets into heaven after Jesus dies on the cross, which is to make it into heaven you must follow the ten commandments and accept Jesus into your heart. Which is supposed to be end all be all at this point because that was kind of the entire reason he was sent to die on the cross was to make shit simpler and change things. Then there is I believe a single specific sect of Judaism that actually is supposed to follow all the original laws (>600 of them) laid down by god that start in the old testament.
I’m not christian anymore, I was raised in a pentecostal holiness church until I was about 17-18 years old she likes to act like I don’t understand bible and it’s verses and the stories contained within.
Fifth paragraph she starts to say she hopes she’s wrong and is asking for god’s forgiveness calls the area I live in god forsaken and sinful. Something something the devil can fill my heart & mind with lies god formed me in her womb as her son and god does not make mistakes (lol). Shit about satan bringing sin into the world in the garden of eden and how god gave us free choice.
Sixth paragraph is her apologizing for writing this and how she should have spoken up before and how hard it is for her. It’s not too late to turn back to god and jesus is standing there with open arms. Then she goes into maybe she’s out of line because I have always thought she was over protecting me (y’all have no IDEA how over protective she has been my entire life) and how she can’t sit back while I ruin my life. Then when she has to stand before god she doesnt want my blood on her hands and to be asked why she didn’t tell me my “alternate life style” is a sin.
She ends by saying she loves me and always will and hopes that I can forgive her and hope that I still love her.
I don’t really know what I’m supposed to forgive her for, I mean all she did was spew religious bullshit that I already knew was coming.
All in all I think she raised me okay and just needed to let me be me and express myself without threatening me with violence. That along with taking my problems seriously. IBS, autism, sensory processing sensitivity, anxiety, add, etc.. I can understand not spotting the ADD cus it did not really become an issue until college, but all the other shit I was just told to get over and deal with.
There was some emotional abuse, invasion of privacy and all that shit too. She did raise me to be very respectful to people and she absolutely straightened my ass out when I called a girl a misogynistic slur when I was in high school. I learned a lot of fairly good morals from church.
Speaking of fairly good morals from church, she raised me very christian right? but whenever I did what the bible said, you know loving thy neighbor, loving everyone, treating everyone well, and offering money and assistance when I could, she would LEGIT get mad at me telling me not to do that.
Then being in the south my family is very racist, very sexist, and very homophobic. I mean they flipped out when I was giving a black girl a ride home from work at night because they were afraid I was dating her, like holy shit.
I still love my mom I don’t think I could ever really hate her because she has always helped me out a lot with everything but growing up it also always felt like everything I did tell her she got mad at me for which led to me never telling her anything because I literally felt I could not trust telling her anything, good or bad.
I think overall it’s a much more tame response than I was expecting because honestly I was expecting a whole you’re disowned you’re own your own never contact us again type crap.
I’m just gonna tell her I still love her and try to explain things to her and see where it goes from there. I mean I’ve had issues with my biology since puberty started and after a year of research I decided HRT was the best solution because it would alleviate a lot of those issues and it has and now I’m fairly content in my day to day life.
