Did you ever watch a movie and early on suspect, or rather dread, there would be a particular twist at the end? If it doesn’t’ happen, you may be so relieved, you overvalue the film out of sheer relief. And if it does, you may be tempted to undervalue what just passed. And now that I’ve brazenly attempted to read your minds, let me say that was my experience watching Andrew Haigh’s ALL OF US STRANGERS (2023, Hulu). There’s some beautiful work in the film. If you’re old enough to have lost your parents, the scenes in which Andrew Scott’s lonely TV writer re-encounters them as they were just before their deaths are tremendously moving. Both Jamie Bell and Claire Foy are quite warm as the parents, and she is simply incandescent. The reunion is complicated by the fact that Scott is gay and comes out to parents whose minds are still stuck in the 1980s, but their responses make sense without falling into cheap sentiment. This is intercut with his growing relationship with Paul Mescal as a man Scott meets in his London apartment building. Their rapport is quite sexy, not because it’s graphic but rather because Haigh and his actors capture the way intimacy can grow between two people. In fact, one of the sexiest scenes doesn’t even involve touching. Scott is writing on the sofa and looks over to see Mescal sitting in another part of the room reading Auden. It’s the kind of sharing a lot of us yearn for.

Haigh has called this his most personal film. He even used his childhood home as the location for Scott’s. When he just lets the characters interact, it’s all quite lovely, even if much of the dialogue is more theatrical than naturalistic. But there are also places it feels over-planned. Some of the music choices — Blur’s “Death of a Party” when Scott is left alone in a gay bar, The Pet Shop Boys’ “Always on My Mind” when Scott and his parents celebrate Christmas together, Patsy Cline’s “If You Could See the World (Through the Eyes of a Child)” when they go to their favorite place from Scott’s childhood — are so dead on it’s a little distracting. You can feel yourself being manipulated. And eventually the reunion with the parents starts feeling like something out of BRIGADOON or IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. It’s fantasy as moral lesson. Only in those pieces, the fantasy led to something healing. I don’t know how healing the twist in ALL OF US STRANGERS is meant to be. It feels like THE TWILIGHT ZONE as written by depressed existentialists.

Usually I like to welcome you to the Housewives Institute Bulletin with some jokes and a couple pieces of big news you might have missed, like that Kathy Hilton is not returning to RHOBH or that Shannon Beador took a selfie with her devilish ex David at the Quiet Woman. But not this month. Instead I would just like to express thanks. Thanks to Tom Sandoval’s narcissism and Raquel’s [insert armchair diagnosis of your choice here], we got one of the best seasons of reality television of all time, and hashing out the minutiae of the dumpster fire happening in the SUR Alley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the smartest, funniest, best fans on the planet made it that much more enjoyable.

So this issue is a tribute to all of you Scandoval lovers. We have the winners and losers of the whole affair, a peek at what’s going on with Schwartz on Stars on Mars, and a walk down Raquel nickname memory lane. But first, the big question facing Vanderpumpfans: Where do we go from here?

The Post-Scandoval Era Is Upon Us

On the eve of the finale of a record-breaking season of Vanderpump Rules, executive producer Alex Baskin — who runs Evolution Media, which produces the show along with RHOC, RHOBH, and others for Bravo — gave an interview to the Hollywood Reporter debunking some popular internet rumors and saying Raquel is not pregnant and that the focus of the show is not moving to Schwartz & Sandy’s. But mostly he walked back his previous comments suggesting that the big revelation at the end of the reunion might make the cast reevaluate whether they want to sign their contracts for the next season. He gave some hints of what season 11 might look like now that contracts are going out, saying there are discussions about bringing back former cast members; that the cast can’t really say, “Sorry, but I’m not filming with that person”; and that Vanderpump Rules as we know it is going to look pretty much the same. (Although it may have some interesting new competition in the form of Hulu’s just-announced Vanderpump Villa, which is about the staff of Lisa’s French chateau and guest house and will be produced by Lisa herself with a different production company, Bunim/Murray.)

“The cast knows that those conditional demands never work,” Baskin says. “It’s a matter of dialing in what is organic for the group to be together, what makes sense. And knowing we want to see where they go from here. It can’t be a show with separate islands. That doesn’t work and it’s not exciting if we have groups who agree with each other but never interact.”

I agree with what he says, but how exactly is that going to happen? Will there be cast parties at Tom Tom and no one shows up but the Toms? Is Scheana going to be forced to have the Toms crash her inevitable vow renewal in Punta Cana, the two of them sitting in their robes watching from a balcony like the new Katie Maloney and Kristina Always Both Names Kelly? And what if production does force everyone to hang out with the Toms? Is every episode just going to be DJ James Kennedy and Lauren Kent (that’s for trying to pretend like using the name “Lala” is somehow different from using “Raquel”) shouting at the Toms about how disgusting they are? That’s not really a show I want to watch.

And what about Raquel? Baskin says they’re in talks with her team, but she can’t be capable of doing another season. I don’t know that I want to see her do another season. Yeah, what she did was awful, but this horse is already dead. We don’t have to set it on fire while it tries to apply false eyelashes.

So if Raquel is out, who is coming back? Katie just saidshe doesn’t think that Stassi Schroeder or Kristen Doute, who were fired in 2020 for racist behavior toward castmate Faith Stowers, are interested in returning. Although Doute returned for a flip-flopped scene with Ariana in which they tried to exorcize their mutual ex, doing a little cameo and coming back full time are two different things. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Kristen at some lunches, but, yeah, I don’t think she’s going to be hanging out at SUR in the opening any time soon.

That leaves us with Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, the heirs to a MeeMaw’s Beer Cheese fortune. Please, in the name of all the saints in heaven and the reality stars below, do not bring Jax and Brittany back. Jax and his lying, cheating pathologyhad become tired by the time he declared it “his show” and Lisa Vanderpump had him summarily banned from the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard that she won in a duel with the man who discovered West Hollywood. This pasta-ed-up blowhard shouting about how he was right about Tom Sandoval the whole time is the last thing this show needs.

But the show clearly needed something before season ten kicked off; it had been faltering with fans and in the ratings for years. And this season did show some improvements outside of the Scandoval of it all. Lisa Vanderpump’s role had become increasingly irrelevant over the years, but I loved how this season repositioned her from lording over the SURvers at her restaurant to serving as mentor to different groups of budding restaurant entrepreneurs. It seems like there is a future in a show set up like that, with Lisa as the bridge between the two sides — if not trying to make them get along, then at least getting them into the same venue for filming opportunities.

With or without Lisa, though, Evolution still has to figure out how to blend two camps that absolutely hate each other. Does the show try to pull a season eight and bring in a whole new host of characters who work at Schwartz & Sandy’s? Maybe. Do Ariana and her coterie of gays get more attention for sitting around watching Love Island? Also maybe. Or maybe the show becomes about forgiveness, who can earn it and who deserves it … Oh, please, this isn’t a reboot of The Leftovers. We want absolute messiness, and we want it now.

The problem facing Evolution is the same one facing another Bravo-aligned production company, Sirens Media, which put RHONJ on pause after the intractable rift between Joe and Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice and the 180-pound hunk of ground beef she recently married. In recent years the show has become entirely about sides, with Melissa huddling on her couch with Margaret Josephs and new girl Rachel Fuda, and Teresa standing by with her sniveling toady Jennifer Aydin and other new girl Danielle Cabral. (Where’s Dolores? Just letting that fence give her inner thighs splinters.) Before the RHONJ reunion I was team “Fire both Melissa and Teresa and start over,” but after Melissa’s masterful gloves-off performance and Teresa following her man down the rabbit hole, I can envision a future where they both get to stay and the show continues on.

But again: How? It was already inorganic that Katie and Tom Schwartz had to have dinner in Mexico to celebrate selling their house when they clearly hate each other post-divorce and would rather be anywhere else. How are we going to get people who loathe each other to such an electrifying extent in the same room again and have it seem like anything akin to, well, reality?

The good news is that is not our job to figure out, and if you can, you should call either Evolution or Sirens immediately and trade in your soul for a career in the reality-television arts and sciences. But these people have given us so many great shows, so many excellent moments over the years, that if anyone can figure it out, it’s them. Just please don’t let the answer — on either coast, or really ever in life — be Jax Taylor.

There’s never been a reality-television scandal as cut-and-dried as the one we’ve been marveling at for the past three months. It’s clear that the winner here is Ariana and her whole side of the reunion and the losers are, well, everyone else. But let’s turn the lens on our microscope up one level and see how some of Scandoval’s more outlying entities fared.

WINNER: “Good as Gold” The Scheana Shay track was always a certified bop, but when Uber One turned it into sponcon it became what it was always meant to be: not a single, but a jingle.

LOSER: Lightning Bolts  Not even Zeus wants his anymore.

WINNER: Merch Whether it’s Lala’s “Send It to Darryl” hoodie, Katie and Ariana’s “Something About Her” T-shirts, or everything Worm With a Mustache, your gag gifts are covered for the next decade.

LOSER: Sandoval’s Mom’s Retirement Fund She sunk it all into Schwartz & Sandy’s, a restaurant that has had its Yelp reviews permanently frozen.

WINNER: Katie Maloney’s Hair In ten seasons she had never once had a good hair day until she showed up to film that reunion. Shellac that wig and never take it off.

LOSER: White Nail Polish  It’s Joey Buttafuoco pants for millennials.

WINNER: Love Island Who doesn’t want to sit around and watch this with Ariana, Logan, and the rest of the crew? (Yes, Tom, it is a time commitment, but that’s what makes it fun!)

LOSER: Pageants This scandal is the worst thing reality TV did to the pageant circuit since Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

WINNER: White Claw Scheana sitting in her trailer 100 yards from the reunion watching it while gripping a can of hard seltzer was literally every single one of us.

LOSER: Coors Light The Toms’ and Raquel’s drink of choice was disgusting to start with. Now it’s on a whole different level.

WINNER: TikTok This hasn’t been the Chinese spying app’s biggest or best scandal, but it really was where all of us were going to get our news for months.

LOSER: The Most Extras Imagine the indignity of being Tom’s backing band and having to play concerts every night to a crowd of people who hate you.

WINNER: Bravo It revitalized a flagging franchise, made a whole heap of cash, and found itself in the Zeitgeist in a way it hasn’t been since the glory days of Real Housewives.

LOSER: Andy Cohen He’s an executive producer on all the Housewivesshows, but not Pump Rules. However, his faces did win the reunion.

WINNER: Us I don’t think we’re ever going to see a reality-TV moment like this again, and it has been an absurdly amusing ride.

From the first moment Raquel graced our television screens, I didn’t like her. She seemed like a certain type of striving, vacuous California girl with nothing at her core other than a desire for fame and probably the Hailey Bieber smoothie from Erewhon. I decided then and there that every time her name came up in a recap I would give her a scathing epithet. For the past 14 years, I’ve worked at a small midwestern planned parenthood office. I always tell people, the most important thing you should know about me is that I love my job. I went into this field specifically to help people in crisis, I wanted to be there as a mechanism of support, never shame. So straight out of residency, I knew that working at Planned Parenthood would be the natural fit. Our office was small, and for the most part, things were uneventful. The door to the clinic is on the back side of the building, so patients rarely had to interact with protesters if we even had any. So, I’m sure you’re wondering okay… so why did this lady title this talk “what to do when your job is on fire ” if her clinic is so quiet and perfect. And the truth is it really was quiet - until it wasn’t.

I’m sorry to be emotional up here. I tried really hard to keep this professional and put together. But I guess really, there is nothing put together or predictable about real life. I know you all know this pain and this fear better than anyone…but every time I think about it, I just can’t help but cry and be mad, because all of this pain was the result of one guy who thought he knew best. And that that vision of best included setting a building on fire. Who is he to block healthcare? To try and harm women?  He’s nobody. I’m so sorry for yelling, but i’m just so tired. And every time I close my eyes I can still see that building on fire. Okay, if you haven’t heard anything i’ve said today, that’s fine but please here this. You have to promise me, you will take what I’ve said and you will use it. You will continue to fight for education, for health, and for the people who walk into our clinics. It was early when tom’s alarm went off. And it was cold in the apartment too. You woke first, of course snuggling closer to the dueve trying to ignore the constant blare of your boyfriends phone. Why doesn’t he ever wake up when he sets alarms this early? you rolled over and saw tom - surprisingly awake. Was it first day jitters keeping him awake?

“Morning, love” Tom voiced his morning voice bringing a shiver down your spine. you hummed at the sound cuddling closer to him. You loved it when he called you love, his love. Especially in his accent, it did things to you. Made you feel all warm and gooey inside. and among other feelings too.

“Time to wake up for class, baby”

Class. Fuck, you had forgotten this was the first day of your classes again. You’re taking a psychology course at moment and you can say this much, you’re not excited for first class.

Seen as the professor laying right beside you calling you baby and love making your insides go all warm.

“i’m not excited” you say pushing you head into toms neck. Tom chuckles to himself and moved to kiss your temple, moving his hand up and down your spine. He always knew immediately how to comfort you. It’s not that you didn’t enjoy his class, he’s the best teacher. You guys just couldn’t take any risks, even the smallest thing like having the same coffee table in the background of video could get you both caught. COVID was not something any of the world planned it was unexpected and traumatising for most. You and tom had only been together a month and you were getting kicked off of campus and you had nowhere else to go, because the flights home were cancelled.

Tom being the best boyfriend ever let you stay with him until you were allowed to fly home. But weeks turned into months and you were still here.

Not that any of you minded. He quite enjoyed having someone beside him in the morning times. To sing and dance with, to watch movies with, to cry with. Tom and you are lucky you had each other.

It’s just one small thing.

Tom is your professor and you’re his student.

If anyone caught you guys it’s game over, tom would be fired and you’d probably be kicked out of school for good. You and tom got introduced to each other at a friends party and ended up going home together - only to find the next week that he was going to be teaching you. You both tried so hard to stay away from eachother. But obviously you guys didn’t try hard enough, because you’re now sharing an apartment.

“come on, i set up that lovely area for you and tessa will even stay with you if you’d like” he offered making you nod. He kissed your head again before hopping out of bed and making his way over to his dresser - well your shared dresser now.

“liking the show?” tom asked flexing his muscles. you giggled and sat up in the bed “loving it” you replied squeaking as jumped back on the bed pecking your lips multiple times.

“let’s go, princess. Got a busy day ahead of us”

And god was tom right.

After a nice, but short, breakfast you both made your way to your respective parts of the apartment and settled down and got to work. Tom was first on call with his psychology class, which you’re in.

He was a little nervous, but the minute you put your camera on and smiled at him. He knew everything was ok.

“i’m just saying, you didn’t need to give a 20 fucking page essay” you say making your way around the kitchen, tom following you every move. He sighed and rolled his eyes leaning on the island in the middle of the kitchen. Tom watched you prepare dinner instead.

“I’m the teacher, i have to give you this stuff. it’s on the ciriculum” Tom said crossing his arms over his chest. you tried not to stare at his bulging muscles, they’re just so pretty to look at.

you didn’t reply continuing to cut the peppers. “i don’t know what you want me say” tom said coming up behind you and placing his arms around you. “i’m sorry you have so much work to do, i’ll help you through as much as i can” he apologised kissing you cheek multiple times.

you couldn’t stay mad at the gorgeous man any longer. you turned around and faced him.

“i’m sorry, i know it’s your job. just tired” you replied pecking toms lips. he shook his head and pulled you into his chest hugging you tight.

Tom holland hugs could fix absolutely anything.

“Let’s eat this amazing dinner - and then let’s get you into bed” he said raising an eyebrow at the end making you smirk.

“y’know what? i don’t think i’m that tired anymore”

It’s been days since the small fight and everything is back to normal. You’re currently sat on your shared bed looking through netflix trying to find something watchable.

“why does netflix always take the good movies off” you asked yourself scrolling down more aggressively. Movie night is the best night hands down - but you and tom have probably seen every movie on netflix and amazon prime. Maybe it’s time to start looking on hulu. “you find anything?” Tom asked leaning against the bedroom door. you shook your head and just turn on something you’ve seen already pausing it quickly to look at your man.

He’s shirtless and has his toothbrush hanging out his mouth.

that is a lot hotter than it should be.

“you ok there?” tom asked with a smirk. He knew exactly the effect he had on you. “you’re annoying” you say turning the movie back on, only for him to laugh loudly and walk back down to the bathroom to continue his night time routine.

you wouldn’t want to be in this situation with anyone else. you’ve definitely met your person.

“professor holland” you called out hearing the choking sound of tom in the background. He admitted through a truth or dare game that he gets turned on when you call him professor holland - so you do that from time to time. Not even sexually anymore, just to see his reaction each time.

“Everytime i get you!” you laughed laying down on the soft pillows.

“oh yeah, i’ll get you”

“you’ll have to come and catch me” you giggled running out of the bedroom and around the apartment.

“i think you owe me a sorry, mr holland” tom said as you sat down on his lap with two cookies in your hand you shook your head.

“nope! never doubted you” you giggled kissing his cheek.

shona asks charlotte out to lunch not too long after they first meet properly at the finance event; they've passed each other by before since they work in the same company, the same building, but that's the first time they really sit down together and chat

shona's almost late back to the office because they get so caught up in conversation. charlotte draws her in somehow, gets shona lost in her laughter and her turns of phrase. she's so easy to talk to, so effortlessly funny and charming

soon enough they have lunch together every day, just the two of them; they explore the area and find little hole in the wall places that nobody really patronises, that serve delicious dishes. shona steals food off charlotte's plate and charlotte just laughs and does it right back

one time they walk back to the office it's cold and they're pressed up a little closer, side by side, talking, and charlotte's hand brushes shona's; shona finds herself sliding her fingers between charlotte's and holding on tight

they stop for a cigarette before heading back up to their respective offices; charlotte kisses her after they're done smoking, impulsively, pulling her in by the collar of her coat, and shona kisses back

they're both running on the adrenaline high of becoming business partners and also a little tipsy from several shots of tequila and sambuca

shona's suggested they take a stroll around southwark park to sober up a little and they just walk around, discussing plans for women in wealth, bouncing ideas off each other; they're not all realistic or doable but it's the night to consider crazy, wild ideas and then pare them down tomorrow

shona is making fun of charlotte for unironically enjoying sambuca and charlotte is taking it in the lighthearted spirit it's meant

they sit on a bench by the pond after a long amble down the paths, just watching human traffic go by; shona looks relaxed and happy and beautiful and charlotte can't take her eyes off her

when shona notices charlotte staring she grins and asks charlotte what she's thinking about

kissing you, charlotte says, because she's unfailingly honest with shona and because the sambuca is loosening her tongue

shona just looks back at her for a few moments, expression neutral, open, head slightly tilted, and just when charlotte thinks she's going to let her down easy she replies kiss me then

charlotte's the one to calm shona down and help her get pat settled on the couch and aine safely into bed; they make sure she's out like a light and her door is locked before they head back to shona's room

it feels right to have charlotte stay over in a way it never did with vish, to have charlotte be the big spoon

they don't fall asleep instantly, shona a little keyed up from telling aine off and having a stranger on her couch; charlotte traces the tattoo on her back with gentle fingertips and leaves a lingering kiss against the lines, and that grounds shona and calms her enough for her to drift off

she wakes before charlotte, watches her sleep for a while, her face peaceful and lovely in the dim light of dawn, and it's the face shona knows she wants to keep waking up to for a long time to come

four ; it’s nice to see your face

shona doesn't stay at hari and kavita's after the party; vish wants her to and gets a little upset when she says no and it escalates into a heated little argument that everyone politely pretends they don't overhear

aine and eileen know better so they don't say anything about it on the train ride back to london

after she and aine see eileen off on her train home, aine heads back to her flat but shona doesn't go back to hers. she drops by charlotte's and collapses on her couch and leans her head on charlotte's shoulder and asks why it's the 2010s and people still care so much about the babies she can produce from her womb rather than her meteoric rise in the workforce, the business she's carving out and sweating over with charlotte, things she's genuinely proud of and interested in

charlotte understands and can empathise with these grievances in a way vish doesn't and never will, and shona feels safe talking about them with her

it devolves into a conversation where shona talks out her frustrations with how it seems like everyone in her life wants more from her than herself - eileen and kavita want grandkids, vish wants a wife, aine wants her perfect big sister, and shona just wants to be herself

a long but not uncomfortable silence stretching between them as they just lean against each other and shona cools down from her slightly dramatic afternoon, until charlotte cautiously says that she, at least, doesn't want anything from shona, she's happy just knowing shona for who she is, being her friend

maybe more than friends, she eventually admits, after another silence, and shona feels like she should be taken more by surprise but she isn't, and it's the easiest thing in the world to find charlotte's hand and take it in her own and reciprocate

five ; you say that like you know what you’re talking about

they're busy all day setting up for the event and don't get a break

it's stressful but they're both high on adrenaline and so so excited that their work is coming to fruition; shona especially is seeing a dream of hers come true

little moments all throughout the day where they laugh and poke fun at each other despite the stress, the last minute chaos

they have a rushed dinner together thirty minutes before they're due to give their speeches, crammed together in a hidden back corner away from the glamorous hall where their guests are mingling; seated side by side on shitty plastic chairs, holding paper plates of catered food up to their mouths and rehearsing their speeches to each other

shona grins up at charlotte after the third time she runs through her talking points, her smile electric, telling charlotte how excited she is and how glad she is that she's doing this with her

me too, charlotte starts to say, only to be cut off by shona leaning across to close the distance between them and touching her lips to charlotte's, a brief, chaste kiss

she's flushed when she pulls back, a little guilty and embarrassed in equal measure, studying charlotte's reaction; sorry, she says, then - was that okay?

charlotte answers by kissing her back, a little longer, a little deeper

shona leans her forehead against charlotte's, after, bringing her hand to cup charlotte's cheek. whispering - i'm so glad i found you

Avengers: College Edition

Steve: Criminal Justice and Studio Art double major. He doesn't want to torture himself with anything difficult and still wants to study what he loves. He is still an over achiever though. Highkey hates frat parties, saw someone twerking upside down and almost cried but stayed because hes the designated driver (responsible KING). prefers small get togethers with his friends. Roommates with sam and bucky!! Joins Criminal Justice club, jokingly rivals with Engineering (Tonys Club) Everyone on campus loves him including the professors, wins Homecoming king and is very happy. Sam jokingly asks to be his queen, Bucky butts in and says "NO, im his queen". Can be found in the library or art studio, usually with ink or pencil markings on his hands.

Tony: Obvi an engineering KING has physics as a minor. procrastinates to the max "No Bruce I have everything under control" *crams for 46 hours straight on a constant IV drip of Redbull and coffee* Super smart and helps draw the blueprint for the new engineering building. Roomies with Bruce! Tony was in a frat for a bit his freshmen year but hated it and wanted real friends (Throws better parties anyway) met Bruce and all the other avengers during a 1301 intro class. Pulls women like no tomorrow. On the presidents list every semester and tutors math for free on the side. He is basically the Dad in STEM. Tries hitting on Natasha but she is just like :/ nah, when her and bruce start dating tony is surprised because bruce is his "quiet little cinnamon roll." Tony constantly teases bruce and is like "yall fuckin (;" Steve butts in "tONY PLZ I JUST WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE" Bruce is thankful for steves intervention. You know how he rivals Steves Criminal Justice club? He butts heads with Business Clubs leader (Pepper) until everyone catches them together at a party. Has a caffeine addiction. Works out with Thor and Bucky one day in the rec and almost dies.

Bruce: Physics and Engineering double major (Hardworking KING) In math club with Vision and Wanda. He loves being roomies with Tony because it helps him out of his shell. Likes to draw with Steve sometimes and enjoys the quiet. Doesn't procrastinate and gets things done in a timely manor. 4.0 icon we all strive to be. Him and Nat already know each other, but bond and get a lot closer while studying in the library and they eventually start dating. He takes her coffee when she works across campus and is always almost late to class because of that (He doesn't care though bc thats his BABY) "Um.. Bruce your class is in 5 minutes" "Okay and?.....Wait I have an ex-" *Sprints to his building* Takes boxing at night with Thor, Bucky, Sam and Steve!!! Loves sparring with Thor and can surprisingly take the big buy on pretty well. Gets his butt kicked by Natasha in a MMA class though.

Natasha: Majors in Criminal Justice and Minors in Psychology. Ballet club AND MOCK TRIAL!! Has a Job at the Criminal Justice Deans office and takes MMA classes on the side. She is on Mock Trial with Loki and they actually get along quiet well once they stop butting heads about the case. Introduces Sam and Wanda to dance and they have so much fun. Coffee dates with Bruce!! Her and Steve become RAs in the following years and are the coolest RAs you know. Prefers night classes, Bruce walks her to all of them. Psychology classes are her favorite and really wants to help children one day. Volunteers at a daycare during breaks. Sis can really out drink Tony and Thor. Puts Wanda under her wing and helps her with fafsa and what not. Her and Bucky get the Russian language credit by simply testing out. Has her sh!t together and while she has a lot on her plate she can take it. She is really the Mom of the group. Can be found dancing or with Bruce. Her and Clint are icons in psychology classes.

Clint: Deaf Studies with education minor! (we stan deaf clint in the comics) In the Archery club and wins nationals for the Uni. Loves to draw with Steve. Helps Bruce ask Natasha out! PRANK ICON! loves to do prank wars with tony, bucky, loki and sam. Was in the same frat with Tony but hated it as well. While he seems to have a more reserved demeanor he is still the life of the party. (Like he knows people at the clubs ya know?) Can get in anywhere and helps everyone rent out a club for the night in celebration of midterms being over. Loves reading in the library and loves morning classes and being productive early in the day. Cracks Tonys netflix and hulu passwords (no tony... tonyr0cks69 is not good enough) Wants to teach at a school for the Deaf. Bruce sets him up with a girl from engineering and that is his future wife.

Thor: Physical Education major and Communications minor! Here on a football scholarship and is in a frat (not the asshole one tony was in) and is a partying ICON. Tries to get Loki to party but Loki just wants to drink wine with the cat he snuck into his dorm. Learns Sign from Clint to prepare for his career in education. Loves working out with Bucky, Sam and Steve. Takes up boxing during football off season and spars with Bruce. Despite being everyones fav himbo he gets really good grades and is a very good writer. Loki dorms across the hall from him. Thor actually rooms with Peter. Peter is the freshman baby and Thor takes peter under his wing and introduces him to everyone and helps him with college stuff in general. Also hooks him up with MJ and brings him to the occasional boxing session. Has a loud booming laughter you can hear in all floors of the library when he sees a funny meme. One time he actually makes a very good point and notices a flaw in one of Tony and Bruces projects leaves everyone stunned. Picks on Loki in big brother fashion. Unironically calls weed the devils lettuce.

Loki: Pre-Law and Criminal Justice. LOVES to argue. (Devils advocate ass) In Mock Trial and Criminal Justice Club. Tony jokingly calls him steves sexy secretary in CJ club. Loves Mock Trial and is the president with Nat as his right hand woman. Sneaks a cat he found at the shelter into his dorm and names it muffin. Stays in the Library writing or going over cases. The one time he was taking Natasha a copy of the Mock Trial case packet and caught her and bruce smooching. (He screeched) "Haha funny joke yall heres the case packet BYE." He automatically texts the group chat "i think nAT AND BRUCE HAVE SOME TEA FOR US HMM". Lets Peter and Bruce come over to his dorm because he knows their roommates can get a little too much sometimes. Loki also becomes an avid twitter user and thats how he gains popularity on campus. (He called the uni out for their awful and expensive parking) Was able to convince the Dean with tony and steve to create a new parking lot. Caffeine addict!!! Him and Tony always bump into each other at the coffee shop. Brings baked goods to meet ups with the gang. Loves to play pranks (especially on Tony) Him and Bucky come up with a genius prank on him and even get pepper involved. Best dressed on campus and is in the fashion club. He is the embodiment of dark academia.

Sam: Criminal Justice Major with Aerospace Engineering minor. Gets introduced to Bucky and Steve during move in and they literally become brothers. Is both in Criminal Justice Club and Engineering Club. In the Historically Black Frat on campus and takes huge pride in that. Parties with tony and thor BIG TIME. Procrastinates by throwing paper airplanes at Bucky until Bucky is like "Um...dude your paper is due in like two hours." At that moment Sam got into work faster than he ever had. Loves gossip sessions with Loki and Wanda. Works out a lot with Bucky, Steve and Thor to get rid of stress. When he and Bucky finish a final they go to loki's dorm and ask "Hey can we see your cat." Helps prep food for friends-giving and decorates the dorm for holidays. HATES 8ams so so so much. Steve promises him pancakes if he gets up and goes. Binge watches shows during weekends and screams when Destiel is finally canon. Loves running and gets a Track Scholarship when Thor gets him to join a sport. Gets Peter to join track.

Bucky: criminal justice major and psychology minor. Buck is also in ballet club with Nat, it really helps him relax and gives him a free space to think (also he runs that shit like no ones business) Criminal justice club as well and LOVES to work out and box. One time Sam accompanies him to ballet and Bucky pushes Sam into a split... the scream was heard for miles. "Sam ballet is good for athletes it helps w-" "Yeah but its not good for my balls" Doesn't willingly procrastinate but once in awhile he will forget an assignment, you best believe his eyes will snap open from his nap and get to work asap. For one of his psyche labs he had to question Steve as if he were Steve's therapist to which Steve responds "Hey bro you dont have to hit a nerve that deep" He also likes to do dance with peter since it helps him get away from Thor for a bit. Not a big partier but once the weight of finals are off his chest you best believe he will go all out. Picks on Nat and says hes gonna steal her man, to which tony interjects and says "Not if I do first" Bucky also has a very comfy dorm, comfy lighting and tons of pillows, the man loves his sleep... and so does everyone else. Sometimes he finds peter, sam, THOR, tONY EVERYONE just napping in his bed before their study time. Overall, bucky is a smart boy and his time in college is kind to him.

Wanda: English Major and Education Minor. After being an orphan Wanda knows what it feels like to not have a parental figure there and she wants to change that for other kids by becoming an english teacher. She volunteers at an orphanage, specifically the one her and pietro were in for a brief moment when they came to the states. She loves to draw as well and takes plenty of art classes with steve. She paints a portrait of the entire gang and gives it to tony as a graduation present (he cried). She loves to do volunteer work for children and also spend a lot of time in the library, She helped Nat calm down before Bruce asked her out. Her and Loki are in constant competition for best dressed. "Loki ill let you win best dressed but you have to let me see your cat" "ugh fine... btw your shirt doesnt match your boots" "hEY" Her and Peter take alot of intro classes together and are constantly running around craft stores trying to get the right stuff for projects. Visits Vision at his Job on Campus and he visits her where she volunteers and eventually they start dating. She is constantly getting visited by pietro at 4am asking "Um do you have milk" "Pietro its 4am what do you ne-" "my OREOS"

Pietro: Track star business major, frat ICON with Thor. poor boy is STRESSED he hates college and is here on a track scholarship, constantly late and running around getting shit done. Queen of late assignments but still gets them graded because he is in Track. Yeah he has alot on his plate but he still parties with thor for hours. When he is drowning in assignments Clint is always there to help him, Bruce also helps him with biology and the more science-y classes. Likes to mess around and race sam at track practice. Not into coffee but will run on all the monster energy drinks you could possibly buy. Seriously is tired of 8 a.m courses, he just wants to nap after practice. Walks into the study room that everyone was in and actually looks more sleep deprived than tony. He gets a lot of tips from steve on how to have an easier time in college and it really helps him.

Vision: Grad student working on a civil engineering masters and a TA. Meets Wanda in the library and she asks him where the biographies are. He mistakenly says they are on the 2nd floor "Uh theyre actually on the third" "Then why did you ask?" "Cause I wanted to talk to you :)" He swooned. Through Wanda he met Tony and Bruce and became their best friend, He helped out a lot with engineering club and got them far. He spends a lot of time doing research for his masters degree, he loves relaxing with the group on weekends and picks on pietro as if he is already apart of the family. Him and Loki bond over intellectual conversations from time to time. Bruce and Nat go on double dates with him and Wanda. Went to a bar once with tony and bruce and had to stop tony from singing Queens entire discography, he had the best night that night. Helps everyone with getting into jobs and into grad school in general while everyone helps him let loose and have some fun.

Peter: Peter is a Physics major and eventually works his way up to biochemistry. (hardworking icon) He is the freshman baby of the group and is introduced to them through Thor. He dances with Buck and Nat sometimes as well. Tony obviously takes peter under his wing and helps him with assignments. One time everyone was in the same study room and him and pietro have a redbull shot gunning challenge. When Peter wins Thor picks him up and almost yeets the poor boy into the ceiling. "VERY WELL DONE YOUNG PARKER YOU SHOULD BE DOING THAT WITH BEER IN NO TIME." "Thor plz" Tony and Thor help him ask MJ out and even spy on them during a dinner date. (Imagine thor with sunglasses and a scarf around his head pretending to be tonys date) He feels so accepted in college because of the gang and gets all his work done on time. Goes out of his way to get everyone christmas presents and is so excited for friendsgiving. Becomes a little stressball during finals and midterms and stays in the library till it closes. He spots loki alot in there and helps loki with science classes while loki helps him with political science classes. He meets MJ through wanda and is obviously blushing the whole time while being introduced. Gets embarrassed when the guys flirt with aunt may. "guys plz stop" This is when Sam earns his "milf hunter" nickname. "Pete hows your aunt?" "She doesnt want you sam i-" its not like that... actually it is like that"

Coulson: Alumni Icon. Is the gangs Intro professor and is the reason why everyone meets eachother. (the class was chaotic indeed) Coulson loved that class so much and he still gets visited by everyone from time to time. He is obviously close with Nick. They were there that night when Tony was signing Queen at the bar and couldnt help but laugh.

Nick Fury: Dean for criminal justice and is heavily involved with criminal justice club and mock trial. He is tired of everyones shit as always. Makes a tiktok account for the criminal justice club and has no idea how to manage social media so gets Loki to help. Has to delete it when Loki commented "hah losers" on the engineering tiktoks page. He looks intimidating but in his office he has a picture with the club and has all the gifts he gets on display. (He even framed lokis comment because it was hilarious afterall)

when sorry to bother you first went to Hulu I had an English class that read the original script and then watched the movie to see what changed. the weird sci-fi turn is the kind of thing I like, but Detroits character frustrated me in both script and film.

haven't seen the film in years, but I remember the script better and there was so much more that could have been developed with Detroit and esp how her art mirrored cash's sellout job

I felt like there was a really great conflict between cash&Detroit about how and why they use their White Voice that just doesn't ever happen. like, cash throwing it back in Detroit face that she uses hers to sell art so why be mad that he does the same? and the answer is that Detroit uses hers bc she feels she HAS to, and cash treats his like a key to getting things even outside of racial hostile environments

but the thing that REALLY grinds my teeth is that in the og script the black guy cash works with is a COMPLETE sellout. he's the one that pushes cash to rap at the party, and is openly resentful of how quickly cash rises the ranks. hes clearly a warning of what cash would become if he stays at his job.

so seeing the major change in adaptation that gave the male character much more depth and understanding, but left the female character flat with muddled motivations leaves me unable to like the film. even though that kind of weird turn is what I like, and the film is trying to talk about important heavy stuff, Detroit is a plot device rather than a character

this is an interesting insight and a neat exercise. i feel like i would have enjoyed the sci-fi turn more if the effects were either much better or practical and kinda janky but because it lies somewhere in the middle it's off putting and unconvincing. i might be too picky on it but i think the idea could have worked better with some tweaking...and more subtlety lmfao. the metaphor is very blunt.

1/20/22

✨ last week was a pretty fun week! I saw the new Spider-Man movie with a friend and then we went to see Murr from impractical jokers at a comedy club later that week too and it was honestly such needed down time tbh

✨ fast forward to this week and it’s not as happy go lucky, I’m frustrated and having so many issues with some friendships that I want to talk through but the other party doesn’t seem to want to talk through anything really and so I’m stuck in this place of no resolve. It sucks. But it honestly is a eye opener of if people want to be friends with you they’ll want to work through things too. So if it doesn’t work out that way, as sad as it will make me, it probably wasn’t a friendship that was going to last anyways. I’m so hoping it does turn around and that we work through it bc I love the friend dearly, but I’ve vocalized what I want/need and that’s all I can do you know? It is what it is at this point.

✨ but I’ve tried to distract myself and honestly it’s been working and I’ve been dealing in a much healthier way than I would have even just 2-3 months ago. So that is nice to see in myself tbh!

I’ve been reading a lot more! Im reading 2 books atm and listening to a third audiobook and I love it! Im almost done with reading A Mouthful of Air (30 pages left), I just started reading The Diary of Anne Frank (20 pages in), and then I’m listening to Veronica Mars: Million Dollar Tan Line (5.5 hours into it!) By the end of this month I’ll have finished those three books plus the two I already read putting my reading goal at 5/22 ALREADY!!! My goal was two books a month to hit that but I’m loving the time reading + listening to audiobooks on long walks! I can only do audiobooks though with very specific people reading it bc most peoples voices piss me off 😅

✨ so reading has been a nice coping skill. And then I started rewatching Veronica Mars a few days ago after listening to the audiobook and I love this show so much! I’ve seen all the episodes, the movie, the Hulu episodes of it but I hadn’t watched any of it I’m years and I genuinely forgot how much I loved this show and the characters! Veronica Mars was a show I watched when I was a teenager and really really lonely and friendless and I wanted to be like Veronica so badly, and I felt like watching the show gave me a friendship with her even though obviously it was just a show. 12/14 year old me didn’t care, a friend was a friend. So that’s been comforting to revisit in such a huge way too.

✨ anyways, I didn’t work yesterday or today, I did a few loads of laundry and watched Veronica Mars all day basically haha!

✨ I’m just really trying to soak up the last few days of winter break before my LAST SEMESTER starts ahhh!! My goal is to get all A’s to go out strong and bring my gpa back up after a baaaaad semester in the fall :/ But I can salvage it by getting all A’s which is doable! So I’m really just enjoying the last 4-5 lazy days left!

I also cut back working a lot with school since I can’t juggle full time work and school! So I’m just working my barista job on Friday and Saturdays each week and then 1 day a week at my old job on Thursdays! So that will be really nice! In all honesty I might even go down to just working two days and doing 1 and 1 at each job, but I’m going to see if I can swing that financially. We’ll see!

✨ I hope you’re all doing well! I’ll be happily over here being best friends with Veronica Mars and relishing in the nostalgia that comes with it :’)
