Allegiance locked
So, I've decided that what I really need from this show is a good ending for Nick. I'm over June. We know this show won't be a happy ending for Hannah. I'm afraid they are going to let Serena off the hook. And I think Joseph sort of has to succumb to the "miserable hellscape" he created.
So, a good ending for Nick comes in one of two packages.
1 - June finally sees how she has taken advantage of him, put him in danger repeatedly for her own purposes, been withholding, harmed him with her indecision and most recently, created the entire scenario that put him a position where he had no choice but to out the Mayday plan. (Betrayal is WAY to strong a word for what happened). IF June does this, IF she can speak this out loud, and Nick decides she is still the love of his life, an ending that suggests they are off fighting Gilead together will be nice.
2 - Nick lets June have it. I'm talking a big, well written, emotional moment where he lays it all out for her... All the ways she has hurt him, used him, endangered him, taken advantage of his loyalties, and taken him for granted. Then he walks away, ready for whatever is next for him, free of the June sized weight he has been shouldering for way too long.
Either is good.
I am still holding out hope for a Nick and June future, but I find myself more invested in Nick's well being than anything else.

“Do you even know what it’s like to be in love with you?” —Nick Blaine, 6x03
I'm going to take a quick pause of the rewatch and talk about 6x03. This episode lives up to its title — Devotion. And for Nick Blaine, it’s not just a word. It’s a way of being. A way of surviving. A way of loving.
It’s the first time he and June have seen each other since Season 5, and the tension? Off the charts. But it’s not angry tension. It’s not even unresolved tension. It’s emotionally exposed tension.
Nick is fraying. Finally. Visibly. And he’s not holding anything back anymore.
We start with Mark telling June it’s a big day for Nick. But of course Nick still comes.
Because he always comes. Because he always will.
The second he gets the message — June is at mile marker 17 — his face shifts. From glee to what the hell is she doing here to I have to see her.
And then? The hug.
He runs to her. She melts into him — the light, the neck nuzzle, all of it. And just like that, they’re back in their own orbit.
And yes, she’s asking for a favor. Again.
Help me save my husband. Help me save Moira. Nick hesitates. Not because he doesn’t want to help — but because he’s not safe. He never is. But when June says she’s going in regardless? That’s it. He can’t let her risk herself. He never could.
And suddenly the old spark — the banter, the warmth — returns. Briefly. God, we missed it.
Then comes the emotional gut punch.
He tells her the real reason he made his deal with the Americans. Not strategy. Not diplomacy.
“I had to. I had to see you.”
And his voice? It cracks a little. It’s shy. Honest. And it floors her. It floors us. Because he wasn’t going to say it — but he wasn’t going to lie either.
And finally — the scene. The scene.
Nick comes undone.
“Hey. You’re the only reason I’m here.” He says it loud. Sharp. Like wake up. This isn’t about politics or alliances. This isn’t about saving Luke. It’s about her. It’s always been about her.
And now? He’s watching her choose someone else. Again.
He’s watching her ask him — the man who has risked everything for her time and time again — to once more put his life on the line. But this time? It’s not for them. It’s for Luke. The man she chose. The man Nick has always lost to, no matter how much of himself he’s given.
And then she says it:
“I loved you.”
Past tense.
And that? Shatters him.
Because he doesn’t just love her — he’s in love with her, still. Actively. Deeply. Recklessly.
“Do you even know what it’s like to be in love with you?”
That line isn’t romantic. It’s desperate. He’s not just saying I love you. He’s saying: This has consumed me. It’s cost me everything. And I can’t turn it off. He’s tortured — not just because she might not feel the same, but because he doesn’t know how to stop feeling it.
Nick has built his life around keeping her safe. Around being nearby. Around loving her quietly, in corners and fragments. And now he’s here — still giving, still offering himself — and it feels like she’s walking away all over again.
“I’ve lost you over and over again.”
It’s not just about separation. It’s about the emotional whiplash of being everything to her one moment — and nothing the next. It’s about not being chosen. Not being allowed to be chosen. It’s about sacrificing his safety, his home, his soul — and still being left behind.
This isn’t just longing anymore. It’s exhaustion. He’s frayed. Unraveled. Devoted and devastated.
And still? He shows up. Because that’s what Nick does. He loses her, and he stays.
And when she says “I’m here,” it’s not a promise. It’s a reassurance. A reminder. She sees him. She still feels all of it. Even if she can’t choose yet.
Elsewhere, Luke is spiraling. And it’s not hard to see why. The way June and Nick look at each other? That’s not history. That’s now.
Moira sees it too. Her “wow” says everything.
And Nick? Keeps his distance. Stiff. Formal. Trying to stay composed.
But June? She hears gunshots and her first instinct is to run to Nick.
Luke feels it. So do we.
Meanwhile, in New Bethlehem: Joseph Lawrence, ever the cynic, is in full dry humor mode and I kind of adore him for it.
“If there is a God, it’s not in empty words and weird rituals… and to quote from the Book of Mormon, that’s kind of what God is going for.”
Lawrence might be the most self-aware man in Gilead — and that’s saying something. Still not a hero. But he knows he’s not. And I’ll always root for that kind of awareness.
And then — the goodbye. Or not.
Nick tries to do the noble thing. The I’ll go quietly thing. But June?
She shuts it down. She’s done saying goodbye. She doesn’t promise anything. She doesn’t pretend. But she says, simply:
“See you later.”
And he smiles. Soft. In love. Breathless from everything they just shared.
He doesn’t drive away. He stays.
He watches her walk. Watches her go. Watches her turn back. Because that’s what he’s always done — stand still for her.
Not to hold her back. But to be there when she looks again.
And in that final moment — all smiles, no words — it’s clear: This isn’t over. Because devotion doesn’t fade. And love like this doesn’t disappear — it just waits.

“Our babies would be so cute.”
“Oh, yeah?” - Ominis Gaunt x MC
You had just escaped from the hospital wing, your boyfriend helping to escort you there when you had began to feel incredibly nauseous and dizzy during potions class with Professor Sharp. Matron Blainely had insisted that you spent the rest of the day in the hospital wing until whatever ails you passed, having sent Ominis back to class straight after he was sure you were settled. Matron Blainely had run some tests throughout the afternoon and come to only one conclusion, one that you should’ve probably suspected given your most recent turn in your relationship with your boyfriend. You made your way through the door into the room of requirement, having sent Ominis an owl when you were being released from the hospital wing for him to meet you there. You settled on the couch having noticed that he hadn’t arrived yet. Deek appeared a couple minutes later and bowed in front of you saying
“I have a plate full of plain crackers and some soup at Matron Blainely’s request for you Miss Y/N, she said that given your certain situation at the moment you may not feel like eating what is being served for dinner in the Great hall”. You take it gratefully, and chew slowly on the crackers
“Thank you Deek, I appreciate it greatly. Do you mind giving me and Ominis some space while I tell him?” you ask and Deek nods, taking your hand in his small one before he says
“Mr Gaunt has been worried sick about you all day Miss Y/N, kept on calling me to see if I knew any more about your condition. I’m sure he will be positively thrilled to hear your news”. And with that theres a poof and Deek is gone.
You don’t have time to even think or dwell on what Deek had just said to you because the door cracks open and you hear the worried voice of your boyfriend call out
“Y/N? Are you in here? I got your owl and came as quickly as I could” he says as he rushes into the room. You stand and make your way over to him, suddenly very nervous about the whole situation. You had known right from the beginning of your friendship with Ominis that he didn’t care much for his family or for what they had done and how much he wanted to escape. How much after this last year of school he wanted to leave and never return to his families home ever again. You hadn’t really talked about children apart from that if you had them they weren’t to be anything like his family. But you couldn’t help but worry what would happen given that you were both unmarried and - you couldn’t think of that. Your hands are ringing together, a sign of how anxious and nervous you are, something that even though Ominis can’t see he can still pick up
“My sweet Y/N, what is wrong?” he asks, placing his hands gently on your arms to reassure you
“Our babies would be so cute” you say, blurting the first thing that comes to your mind, another anxious trait you had. He raises an eyebrow even more confused as he asks
“Oh yeah?” and you nod your head before gently taking his hands and placing them on the slight bump that is your growing baby. You watch the different expressions flicker across his face, from shock, astonishment and wonder, to happiness and excitement
“Are you serious right now?” he asks, his voice a whisper and you nod leaning in and whispering
“Yes Ominis, we’re having a baby, Blainely thinks I’m about 12 and a half weeks pregnant” 
“We’re having a baby” he whispers before pressing a kiss to your lips and you smile
“Ominis, what does this mean for us and the baby?” you ask and he places a kiss to your forehead
“We have two months left till graduation my sweet girl, and then we can marry and raise this baby  together” he declares as if it was the surest thing in the whole world.
“Are you sure?” you ask and he nods
“Of course I’m sure my sweet girl, a life without you in it just doesn’t seem worth living and now that I know we’re having our own precious little one well that’s even more reason for us to be together don’t you think sweet girl?” he asks and you nod, as tears slip down your face
“I love you Ominis” you whisper and he beams.

hey it’s the “see you later” anon back again to say 1 more thing. june also says i don’t know you i don’t know anything about you and nick responds “my name is nick blaine and i’m from michigan” i think we’re aware that june learns something in season 6 about nick and spirals from that (or we’re assuming that’s what happens?) and i think it comes back to that moment in season 1. who is nick? and is who he says he is/who june knows him to be enough?

Yes, I agree it does seem like we are in for an immanent “who is Nick” reckoning. The show likes to do this periodically: the s1 “I don’t know anything about you” scene eventually playing into/escalating to the infamous s3 Swiss meeting: “I don’t think you know who Mr. Blaine is, or was. Our research indicates he’s not to be trusted”—Side note: I watched Casablanca last night and it’s well-documented that the name “Nick Blaine” (the writers choosing the last name of Blaine for the show that is, "Nick" is canon from the book of course), is a nod to the “Rick Blaine” of that movie but I never realized just how heavy the parallels are, including repeated references to a “shady”, mysterious past and a consistent thread of just how little the two love interests really know about each others’ lives (largely by design). Anyway I thought this was really interesting, I may do a longer post on it later, idk.
Anyway, I do think that Nick must have opened up to June a lot more after that s1 scene but clearly there’s still a lot of details she doesn’t know, either by design or just the fact of how little time they have together. And unfortunately the full question of why Mr. Blaine was “not to be trusted” has never been satisfactorily answered. The “resolution” we were given, insofar as June’s feelings anyway, seems to be that she decided it didn’t matter. That she chose to trust what she knew of him, based on his words and actions and her gut, rather than what she’s been told by strangers (and Serena). And she knows shit is complicated in Gilead, she certainly knows he’s no angel (as she says to Esther in s4: “Gilead makes it really hard to be good”).
Whatever it is June learns in the upcoming episode that causes her to spiral, or to doubt him, I think it will ultimately echo this same pattern, though in a bigger way and ultimately with a more distinct resolution. Whatever she learns about his past or present (if that is indeed the “shocking revelation”), I think she’ll eventually come back to the conclusion that the core of what she knows of Nick is true—that he’s a good man (who loves her) even if it is very complicated.
I do have to think that this time they’ll have to talk about it and have a real reckoning though. They didn’t exactly have that chance in s3/4 but they need to now. And I don’t think June would ever just toss Nick aside for good without letting him explain himself. I think if they are to really be together, to ever truly have a relationship grounded in the “real world”, with a potential future—not just the cumulative amalgamation of fleeting, stolen moments they’ve had so far, where the details and the past were shoved aside by necessity—they need to finally have it out, let it all come to a head and decide where they stand: what can and can’t be forgiven, and what’s most important to them. (@withallthingslove wrote about this really thoughtfully a few weeks back when the press kit came out, I think it's here in this this post). 
June has recently been having these crucial moments of clearing the the air with her loved ones, finally saying things that long needed to be said —first with Luke, then Moira, so maybe the biggest one yet is now on the horizon, with Nick. And we will see where they land.

What Did Nick Do?
Or rather, what is Nick gonna do? there’s been a lot of talk this season about just how Nick is going to betray our young June and I’ve been giving this some heavy thought as well.

Mark Tuello - Nick has made a deal that he’s having trouble fulfilling and Tuello is now straight up threatening to expose him for it. We all know what Nick will do to survive, and if you think he’s going to let some bratty little diplomat with a knife to his throat undo him, well think again. He made that deal to see June and he got what he wanted. Blaine has been living in Gilead for a decade or more and has no illusions about his future, as much as Tuello would like to have him believe that he will be able to leave and make a life with his daughter, Blaine knows he’s now firmly in Gilead’s stranglehold. The scene in the forest between Nick, June and Tuello had a considerable sense of foreshadowing about it; one of them would end up dead and out of the two of them Nick’s the killer. Tuello is his figurative bridge to a life with June and Holly, if he sets fire to it, you can say goodbye to that forever.
Holly - So writers are cueing up everything really well that is contained in The Testaments, give or take a few details and one of those things is the demand for Holly to be returned and for her to be hidden as a result. I’ve become a wee bit suspicious about how convenient the connection is between Nick, Serena, Wharton and Rose. If Wharton becomes aware of the existence of Holly and her true parentage, he may demand her back and strong arm his son in law into doing so. It would not be a hard stretch of the imagination that either Serena or Rose would make Wharton aware of it. I imagine it may become an even greater possibility should Rose lose her baby. I’m not saying Nick would WANT to do it, I’m just saying that once that genie is out of the bottle, he’s going to find it really, really, really hard to say no. It’s particularly telling that we had that whole little scene at the beginning of the season where June argued with her mother about how much Nick loved Holly and wouldn’t do anything to hurt her. Trust me, she’ll NEVER forgive him for this one.
The Red Dress - ANYTHING that Nick does that results in June being put back into that red dress. If that happens, that’s it, it’s all over. This speaks volumes about what he as a member of the patriarchy will do to a woman to hold onto his position of power. Even if he doesn’t do it directly, the point will be that he is a passive facilitator and believe me, THAT is the writers true intent. Throughout the seasons we’ve seen Nick identify June as an individual and make concerted efforts to help her escape, so the action of now placing her back in that dress is huge. It’s also something that will “open her eyes” and tell her that mummy dearest was right all along. I believe that writers may have changed course to de romanticize this character and include him as just another member of the patriarchy that the protagonist was previously blind to. It’s a sharp turn from the sole male character amongst the swamp who recognized her autonomy and acknowledged her identity.
Mayday - He saved Luke and Moira at the start of the season, shooting two guards in the process, now Wharton is not impressed with the violation of security and he’s already not convinced at all about New Bethlehem. New Bethlehem was Lawrence's idea and already Nick isn’t listening to Lawrence anymore. If Wharton wants to go old school Gilead and shut off the escape routes for refugees, will Nick play along? What happens to Rita? What about June, Luke, Moira and Janine once they go in through the trade routes and can’t get out? Last season we saw Nick tell June that he had to protect his family any way that he can and last episode Rita said she’d do anything for her family and he agreed. So just what exactly would he do for his son?
I'm really hoping that whatever it is, it happens sooner rather than later, because at least we'll have some leeway to turn this thing around. With some of these it's easy to see how once it's done it's done, so let us all form a chanting circle, it’s time to start praying for his soul.

Victoria would tear them to pieces. She was raised as a rich kid who went to school with other rich kids – she knows how to use words alone to ruin someone's self-esteem. She'd belittle them, attacking their every flaw, calling out their every wrong till they run away crying, because no one, and she does mean no one is ever allowed to talk to you like that.
"What are you talking about?" Blaine would step in, eyes dark and eyebrow quirked up. She/ He had been watching for a while after first catching the conversation, and you can see in the way that her/ his lips press together that she/ he is not happy. She/ He wouldn't even bother to hear the person's excuse before starting to rant about how amazing you are and why she/ he loves you, tugging you closer by the end of it and staring the person down till they fled. Afterwards, she'd/ he'd shoot you a small smile, directing you back to the party. (or wherever y'all are at)
Elexis likes to watch people, and when people-watching, he observes many things and comes to many conclusions, ones that are often right. He'd slid down from wherever he perched, voice quiet, but his words are enough to hit the person hard. No one enjoys being called out, especially not when someone is as insecure as them, and they'd probably huff and run away while Elexis simply shoots you a small smile.
There's something about Seraph that always have people scared. They'd sidle up to you, not saying anything, amber eyes just locked onto the person with a bland smile on your face. Their voice falters as Seraph speaks up – "You were saying?" – and they quickly stammer out an excuse before running away, leaving Seraph to turn to you, smile turning into a genuine one. Behind the scenes after however, Seraph is planting the seeds to ruin their life. No one will ever speak to you that way again, not unless they want the consequences.
Brooks storms into the conversation immediately, eyebrows furrowed, and fists clenched. "What nonsense are you spewing?" You could tell he was controlling himself, holding himself back, and he quickly tugs you behind him, staring the person down. "Get lost," he'd spit, just as the person stammers, and he looks so genuinely angry that you think he's about to punch them otherwise.

As someone who loves canon Klaine as is, there are a few fundamental things I believe about the ship that only actually furthers my enjoyment of them, that I’m kind of shocked how many people think were OOC, or hate and think of as bad writing.
Here’s a list of things I think are absolutely crucial to understanding Klaine!
Blaine cheating was in character. Kurt cheating was in character.
First of all, both of Klaine love attention, so jot that down.
Regardless of anyone’s personal feelings on the matter, I know people love to argue semantics here how “Blaine didn’t care about Sebastian so it’s different”, the show canonically equates Blaine talking to Sebastian behind Kurt’s back as the same as the situation with Chandler. He said it himself in Dance With Somebody, “Although a while back I was sort of doing the same thing…”. He also cheated on 2/2 of his boyfriends on the show. This is something that’s so consistent with his character and to call it OOC just because someone can’t picture season 2 Blaine doing it, even though there’s 5 other seasons of his character to consider, is just silly to me. I’m all for cheaters!Klaine, I think it’s hilarious and I would have watched them cheat on each other and cheat on other people WITH each other a million times more.
To understand Blaine’s character, and explain how his cheating is in character you also have to get: he could act impulsively and based on emotion, when he was insecure he felt the need to find a way to take back control in a situation (Tested and Puppet Master), and when he felt hurt, he lashed out. This is particular was something we saw again and again throughout the show, and his cheating is just another example of this. I think this post does a good job detailing these things.
I think his cheating wasn’t simply because he was just lonely and he needed some physical reassurance as I’ve seen people say, but also because he knew it would hurt Kurt. However, afterwards he realized that hurting Kurt didn’t fix anything. And this is cycle Blaine goes through quite a few times. Feels hurt -> hurts Kurt -> it didn’t help the situation and actually made things worse.
Now: Kurt texting Chandler. I always find this discussion a little interesting because I feel like it usually goes beyond people’s opinions of just Kurt and Blaine as characters, but also the boundaries they feel about IRL relationships and what actually counts as cheating. Some people think it’s cheating, some people think it’s not, some people think it’s something more in the middle. If you asked me simply, I’d say yes he did cheat. The fact that he didn’t want Blaine to see his texts is proof enough it was cheating. However if you asked and gave me the chance to write a 15 page dissertation on it I’d say…he did cheat but it wasn’t this huge emotional affair people make it out to be. Not even to excuse Kurt because as I’ve said before, I think Klaine cheating on each other is hilarious and I would never take that away from Kurt and if he cheated on Blaine I would only cheer him on, but rather…I just genuinely do think it was a bit complicated! Or rather, I think there was a double standard here that doesn’t negate Kurt’s cheating but does call out Blaine’s hypocrisy more, if what Kurt did was cheating then so was what Blaine did with Sebastian as the show canonically equates them. And I also think it’s interesting that even when Kurt was texting Chandler, he wasn’t truly opening himself up to another person and letting himself be emotionally available to Chandler, that’s where I think it’s less of a full blown emotional affair (but I do, personally, see flirting as cheating even in irl relationships.). It was a very detached, lazy form of cheating. Because Kurt was honestly so lazy sometimes LMAO love that for him though. I also do think there were more reasons Blaine was upset with Kurt in this episode than just the cheating.
I think Blaine singing It’s Not Right But It’s Okay in front of everyone was also incredibly hilarious. Like I love it so much it’s SO funny. This scene also continues to illustrate that Blaine tended to lash out when he felt hurt or slighted, and that he was prone to large public displays of emotion. This is important to understanding Blaine’s character, as it also connects to his performance of Teenage Dream in season 4 and the proposal in season 5.
The season 4 breakup was not out of nowhere.
Blaine had already shown he couldn’t cope with long distance when he transferred to McKinley to be with Kurt for a year, and when he ignored Kurt during DWS because he was upset Kurt only talked about NYADA and New York since he felt Kurt was already moving on without him. Even during Somewhere Only We Know he looks devastated lol and it’s why he even transfers to McKinley, to be closer to Kurt. He always wants to be close to Kurt.
Meanwhile, Kurt had a hard time balancing his new New York life with his old Lima life. Kurt had a very one track mind, and that could cause a detriment to his personal relationships. This is shown in Grilled Cheesus when his dad made a point that they need those Friday night dinners or they might not see each other much, or how he ignored Mercedes for Blaine in The Substitute. This is also already shown to be a problem for him in DWS, where he’s so focused on his excitement for college. When Kurt is caught up with something, it’s hard to break his attention.
Dance With Somebody was foreshadowing. Like, hey, these two guys are definitely going to have more problems down the line and here’s what they’re going to be, it’s not going to be resolved in this single episode.
Three things can be simultaneously true at once: the proposal was beautiful and moving, Kurt had wanted to get married to Blaine because he still showed up to the proposal since he knew about it in advance. However…he still could have felt pressured, after the fact. Or at the very least, he had his own regrets about saying yes and pushed some of the blame for how he was feeling onto the proposal.
I know a lot of people use the box scene and the sleepover deleted scenes as pure evidence that Kurt was 100% sure about getting married to Blaine (as well as that one scene where Rachel talks about Finn proposing to her and Kurt clearly shows he would have said yes if Blaine had asked him). But if we’re going to take deleted scenes as evidence, then we have to consider there’s also a deleted scene where Kurt said he felt pressured during Loser Like Me, that takes place much later and would therefore be his most recent thought on that matter in the timeline, to take into consideration. And even completely disregarding that, I still think you can take his actions throughout season 5 and use them to infer the fact that he felt as if saying yes to the proposal was starting to feel like a mistake.
During the car ride over in Love, Love, Love, Kurt almost seemed like he was being driven to execution lol yet I still think he was blown away and moved by the proposal and he had planned to say yes, which is why he went anyways instead of telling Burt he couldn’t do it. Kurt did want to get married to Blaine, the proposal was a grand gesture that he loved, and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I don’t think it’s fair to paint the proposal as a malicious act (though I will say, it’s not often stated that one of Blaine’s motivations to propose to Kurt was so he couldn’t meet anyone else) because it simply wasn’t. The proposal was a genuine act of love from Blaine, that suited Kurt (he loved weddings, was excited at the idea of a promposal in season 2, and a lot of what he wanted out of a relationship, set up in season 2, was the ability to be public with the person he was in love with just like anyone else. The proposal is in the same vein as him wanting to walk down the halls holding hands with a boy, it’s a representation of the strides the world has made for gay rights and Klaine’s right to be able to express love so publicly just like any straight couple. Believing that Klaine should have had a private proposal instead is, in my opinion, a complete misreading of both their characters and what the ship is meant to be.)
But! As time went on, Kurt began to have doubts. Kurt could have changed his mind the older he got (after all, he was still in high school during the box scene and the Kurtchelcedes sleepover) + the more actual experience he had with being engaged to Blaine, and especially as they had a difficult time even living together. And it really is possible! People change their minds. Of course the way Kurt went about it was super passive aggressive (and I lived for every moment of it) and he didn’t tell Blaine this until it was too late, but I think it’s completely possible he was initially sure about saying yes, but then changed his mind over time as reality began to set in that it wasn’t as easy and fairytale as he thought it would be. A lot of Klaine’s problems stemmed from the fact that they had a hard time grappling between their idealized versions of each other, and who the other really was, which Burt brings up when Blaine asks for permission to marry Kurt (And can I say I just love the fact that Burt said no but Blaine did it anyway lol like it’s another Blaine thing I really love about him. Also that he encouraged Tina to propose to Mike when they weren’t even dating because he still thinks it’s romantic even though it didn’t work out for him), and that could apply to the proposal as well. The fantasy of having such a grand proposal, of being engaged young, might seem different once being faced with reality, and he was beginning to believe perhaps it was a mistake to say yes.
Kurt also repeatedly stated, like in the Purple Piano Project for example, that he didn’t want to get married until he was around 30. So it’s in character that Kurt could have felt they were still too young.
I want to make a better longer post about the proposal because these aren’t even 1/3rd of my thoughts about it…(I have quite a few thoughts about the way Chris chose to act in this scene, I genuinely believe he was going for a “overwhelmed with emotion” look but his eyes were opened so wide that he just look terrified the whole time…) I swear I love the actual proposal! I just think it’s interesting to think of the way it could have affected Kurt and connected to the breakup in season 6. Which…
The season 6 breakup was not out of nowhere.
Tension between Klaine had been building up since season 4. It was clear after the cheating Kurt’s perception of Blaine and trust in general changed, and there was building resentment from all throughout season 5 (especially if you consider that Kurt was growing resentful of the proposal and possibly feeling pressured from it). Even though they did talk about their problems and promised to resolve them like in Tested, I think the June Dolloway arc proved that Blaine could go back on his word if he wanted to, which only furthered Kurt’s doubts. Like Kurt had said, they talked about lying to each other, just for Blaine to lie to him again. At the end of that episode, Kurt told Blaine he was choosing to trust him, and though many people see that as them working out their feelings for good which makes season 6’s breakup come out of nowhere for them, I feel as if that final scene between them showed just how much Kurt didn’t actually believe what he was saying. His body language is incredibly stiff, and the way Chris delivered the lines is almost monotone, as if Kurt is forcing himself to say these things. While body language irl isn’t something you can actually use to judge a person’s thoughts, in acting it is supposed to clue us in to how a character is feeling. And I feel like, even though he was telling Blaine that he was going to choose to trust him, he was just going through the motions of the song and dance they’ve been playing these last few arcs. Inside, he felt like he had already lost a fundamental trust of Blaine and their relationship would not be the same again, and that resentment building all throughout season 5 is going to spill out all at once with his very harsh “Maybe I don’t!” in season 6. That outburst didn’t come out of nowhere, because he spent all of season 5 bottling his feelings.
It’s super cute when Blaine moves back in and Kurt moved the desk back to where Blaine had wanted it though. But it also kind of doesn’t erase the fact that we just watched an entire half season of them arguing.
Blaine dating Dave was in character. And no, I don’t think it was simply a natural cause of them coming from a place with a small gay community. Blaine chose to date Dave for a reason. (And it wasn’t a pure, “just trying to move on” one.)
It’s too much to get into. And maybe many people will not understand... One day I want to fully go into depth about it, but right now I’ll try to explain it as briefly as I can. Blainfosky makes complete and total sense when you understand Blaine’s canon character and his consistent canon actions (and not the fanon version of him), it aligns with the major theme of season 6 which is about regression before moving on. It makes sense when you examine how important Dave Karofsky is to Klaine’s relationship as a whole, his complicated relationship with Kurt, and how their history together isn’t erased simply because Kurt forgave him.
And so, I think Blaine dated Dave for a reason. And that the thing they have most in common was Kurt, and this was purposeful as they even say they got to talking…mostly about Kurt! And so I do think on some level, Blaine was hoping this would hurt Kurt. However, like his cheating in season 4, he realized that hurting Kurt didn’t help himself feel better (and we see it on his face when Kurt runs away during the scene in Scandals in Loser Like Me) nor did it help the situation. And that’s why, when he finds out Kurt is going on a blind date because he’s going to respect Blaine’s relationship, he’s instantly jealous. When they talk about it, Blaine pointedly tells Kurt “like you’ve always said, we’re better off as friends.” At the very least, I don’t think Blaine dated Dave for the intention of moving on (because even the act of going back to Dalton was meant to reflect he wasn’t moving on), because it’s clear through his body language and tone throughout the first half of season 6 that he was hoping to get some sort of reaction out of Kurt. This is especially clear when he accused Kurt and Rachel of taking Jane from the warblers, eager to get a jab in there about Karofsky. And because he was never with Dave for the chance to move on, he was never with him because he genuinely liked him, as soon as they kiss in the elevator Blaine is basically all but ready to have a full blown affair with Kurt lol and he even teases it in Transitioning after Kurt rigs the wheel.
And okay! I get that most of this is not positive stuff, and might make you wonder why I like this or why it furthers my enjoyment of Klaine. And what I think is super important is that these events, that are caused by Kurt and Blaine being the specific people they are, make Klaine a much more interesting and compelling couple than if they were just any old generic “healthy” pairing. These are the things that make Klaine Klaine, these things happened because Kurt is Kurt and Blaine is Blaine! It’s fun to analyze why they chose to do the things they did, to connect this stuff to their other behavior in the show, and I think handwaving it away because someone might think these (very canon) things are OOC or bad writing simply because they wish Klaine was a perfect couple where nothing bad ever happened is a bit…boring? I love that they cheat on each other and on other people WITH each other, that they’re both control freaks (and yes, Blaine is one too, there are two whole episodes about it! I feel like people confuse Blaine being obsessively in love with Kurt with being blindly submissive, when a power struggle between Kurt and Blaine was present several times throughout the show) who sometimes don’t see eye to eye, and that they have issues! It makes them so much more fun! and one day I might write more about the positives of klaine, but these things I’ve listed are genuinely thinks I like about the ship just as much as the “good” things.

So for those who've known me since we were all Glee blogs, you might remember that at one point, I did a fic based on the Persephone/Hades mythology (as one does). I then wrote another fic taking a slightly sideways view of that story that made it bleaker (as one does). Then they gave Blaine a brother and I wrote a version of the second story that incorporated a brother character and also started to interpolate some elements of the Orpheus myth (as one does). Then things started getting a little off the rails and I stopped putting things up on Ao3 because I could tell it had completely stopped being fic. But I kept going, because I was having fun and doing research and playing with the lovely interconnectedness of Greek mythology (did you know that there's versions of the quest for the golden fleece that have both Orpheus and Atalanta among the Argonauts?) and also exploring concepts that I find perenially fascinating, like death and family and love and how stories change in the telling and change over time. In the end, I wound up with seven stories that I thought were pretty good, and that I might want to do something with someday.
And then I didn't do anything.
For a long time.
I don't want to say how long, but if you go back to my Ao3 and find the word "Pomegranates" in the titles, you can figure it out.
I thought about doing something. I picked the stories up every so often, reread them. Went "Hey, that's good. I should do something with them." And then I didn't do anything. At one point, I had someone design a cover for the ebook version. I have no idea when I did it and have no idea where it is, but I know it happened and it was a cool cover and I'm very sorry I lost track of it (I did pay for it, at least). At another point, @seldnei did some beta work on one story. And then it just sat. And sat.
And then this past year I picked the stories back up for the umpteenth time, and I read them, and I cried because if you leave your work alone for long enough, the love comes back and you can cry over your own shit again (true story!).
And I made a decision: It was getting done. My one and only New Year's Resolution, 2025.
It's not even February.
I have no idea where we're going from here. Maybe some people will like it. Hopefully some people like it. Hopefully at least @seldnei likes it, but ideally some other people as well. (Maybe hopefully not too many people, but we'll see). But I put it out there. I have advertised it. People who know me in real life know I did this, which is a whole other ball of weird, but I did that. It's been done.
I did the damn thing.
And now I'm going to do my Latvian app, write a poem, and get three sentences in on the other story.

I think at first, Kaz would be concerned where the blood came from. He won’t verbalise his concern, but you’ll see it in his eyes, when he raises a brow at you. After you assure him that none of the blood is yours, his brain will switch gear. He’s gonna take in every inch of your appearance to save away in his head for later. You might not be at the point in your relationship yet where he’ll expect touch. But that doesn’t mean this man doesn’t desperately want you. He’ll save this image for alone time.

Malachi is a sadistic little freak, everyone knows that. But despite this, he does have a select few people he can’t fathom the thought of torturing for real. One of them being you. His brain almost short circuits when you walk in covered in blood. He’s on his feet within moment dragging you into his arms. He won’t ask for reassurance that it’s not yours, just silently check your body for wounds. Once he finds none a sick grin will grow on his face.
“Awww, did somebody just wanna get all dolled up and pretty for me?” He’ll coo in your ear.
He’d nip at your neck, licking some of the blood off of you. You’re not going anywhere the rest of the evening, Kai will be sure you can’t walk in the morning. If you let him, he’ll add to the mess and drag a knife softly across your skin to leave his mark. The sight of you covered in blood is his happy place.

Blaine thinks you’re the hottest thing to ever walk this earth on a normal day. That zombie has no shortage of pet names or dirty thoughts to whisper in your head or text you. If he finds you covered in blood before you’re turned, the concern side of his head will kick in first. Blaine finds you quite fragile and his biggest fear is someone taking you away from him. He’s at your side in a moment pushing anyone and anything out of his way to get to you. But once he’s reassured you weren’t attacked and aren’t actively dying, a thousand questions swim through his head.
He’s going to ask for more details about what happened and why you did it. But his hands a running up and down your body the whole time, just smeering and playing with the blood. If anyone else was in the room, even for an important meeting, he’d excuse them all immediately. And locking the door. You’re not leaving his office.
And if he finds you covered in blood after you’re also a zombie, he goes straight into horny mode. Though you will get some playful wining from him after about how you didn’t share your food.

He’s gonna be a cocky little shit the second you come to him drenched in plasma. William could smell if it was your blood, he has your scent committed to memory, it is his favourite thing after all. So there’s no immediate worry from your blond boyfriend. Though a few questions in the back of his head if you’re mentally ok with your current predicament. But he can also hear your heart beat, and knows you’re not in distress.
“Well somebody had a fun evening, care to share your festivities little blood bag?”
He’s going to immediately drag you to his crypt and beg to lick every once of blood off your body. He wouldn’t be apposed to messing you up even more ontop of it. I don’t think you could stop him from biting you even if you tired. As much as he loves the strangers blood, yours is what he desperately craves. Plus what’s hotter than feeding during sex? Spike knows you love his bites just as much as he loves biting you.
Jasper Whitlock:

Jasper was surprised himself to find seeing you covered in blood so attractive to him. If the vampire had a heart beat it would be racing out of his chest. Jasper has a darker side he likes to try and keep hidden from his family. It doesn’t matter if you’re still human or already turned. His eyes immediately go pitch black and he’s licking his lips, wanting to ravish you in anyway possible.
He wishes he were an artist so he could paint this moment 1000 times to perfect the sight of you. Of course if you’re human, he’s a little concerned you might be hurt, but he doesn’t smell any of your blood, just the strangers. Thoughts creep in his head about what you would taste like. He speeds to you in a millisecond carefully picking you up and takes you to his room. He’ll take his time cleaning you up, slowly washing the blood off your naked body as he kisses you in between. He wants to worship you in this state. He will act first, ask questions later.
Thomas Hewitt:

Nobody is surprised by the fact Thomas finds you hot covered in blood, besides Thomas. You waltzed into this man’s life and flipped it upside down. He was supposed to kill you like the others, you were supposed to become dinner. But when one of the other victims turned on you and tried to sacrifice you to save themselves. All he saw was red… both literally and figuratively.
He’d watch for a moment as you try to fend for yourself first before stepping in and slitting the victims throat. Because of the angel, you almost get more covered than him, trying to back up and make sure none of it got in your eyes.
Thomas would stand there panting softly starring down at you. Of course he’s found other victims attractive before, but the poor boys has never acted on it. But he finds himself stalking over to you and gripping you in his arms before he can stop himself. He lets out a soft grunt resting his head ontop of your blood soaked hair. His was of saying “mine”. Thomas is already formulating a way to beg his family to keep you as his little pet. He wants to see you covered in blood over and over and over again. You might just be his new addiction.

This woman has never been shy about anything in her life. You knew exactly what you were getting into before dating her. And her plan to wear you down until you joined her in the killing was working. Because here you stood now, knife in hand, tearing out the heart of a woman who dared to insult and hurt your lover. Tiffany wanted to break you, as much as she loved you sweet and innocent she’d been craving your hidden darkness. And Tiffany always gets what she wants.
She’s already wet just watching you. But her adrenaline is rushing wondering what delightful horrendous thing you’ll do next. What she wasn’t expecting was for you to take a bite out of the heart, before offering it up to her. She’d step over the copse taking the heart from your hands but leave you sitting on your knees, her favourite position to have you in. She takes a moment to take in the sight of you, the lust and love swirling in her chest seeing you like this. So disgusting and all for her.
She doesn’t care about the fresh corpse in the room, long forgotten as she puts you in your place. You’ll be worshiping at her feet all night, devouring her till she’s satisfied enough to pleasure you back.
Lestat De Lioncourt:

I don’t think this one needs much explaining. Lestat takes any excuse he can to get you absolutely drenched in blood. He loves the carnage and the filthiness of it. He’s a messy eater himself, and he knows you love seeing him like this as much as he loves watching you.
It doesn’t matter if your turned or not, he finds the blood attractive either way. He loves listening to your human heart racing when you watch him feed, usually kissing you after to get your face covered in blood. It was common occurrence, he was proud to leave a mark on you in any way he could, even if it was temporary. He loved to bite you all over and just watch the blood dribble down you, before licking it up. Your thighs, chest, neck, anywhere he could reach would be covered in bites.
But after your turned, he wants to be there to give you your first meal. Watch you devour your prey and feed off them with you. Feeding almost always leads to sex with him. He can’t help the way seeing you like this gets him going. And he won’t be shy or quiet about his desires.
Venom:

Now I’m talking Venom as its own entity. If he’s attached to Eddie I think Eddie would be far more concerned and worried and drown out whatever venom is thinking. But depending on who the symbiotic is attached to you’ll get a different reaction. Venom will always feel the same however, it’s just if these desire will be verbalised and acted upon that’s the difference.
He already finds humans to be tasty little morsels, in fact it was something he called you quite often. You were his favorite tasty morsel. If you’re the one bleeding, Venom will still be incredibly horny. The scent of you blood makes him feel high. Of course he’ll tend to your wounds, but that won’t stop his tongue from exploring your body.
But if it’s someone else’s blood, his eyes will be zeroed in on you the second he sees you. His sharp teeth breaking into a sickening grin. He’s so proud of his baby and he wants to show you just how much. You’ll get endless praise and he won’t stop begging you after to get covered in blood for him more often. He loves bloody sex, or even just cuddles, either way you’re not leaving his sight, let alone his arms for several hours. Doesn’t matter if you had stuff to do or want to shower, the only way you’re cleaning off in the shower is if he joins you.
Harry Warden:

Is anyone surprised? After all, you are his BLOODY valentine. It’s in your title. And who are you to deny him what he wants to see. Harry would be greatly concerned if it was your blood. His body immediately fuelled with rage wanting to avenge you and kill the person who dared to touch his one true love. But a part of him still thinks you’re the most beautiful person in the world, even when you’re bleeding in his protective arms.
But if it’s someone else’s blood, that’s a different story. Harry loves it when you join him in disposing of the vapid couples who simply are a joke compared to the two of you. Their love doesn’t deserve to be validated because they will never love eachother as much as you and Harry would die for each other. He loves watching you test the couples and see who will turn on each other, before stepping in to help you dispose of the dismantled lovers.
Barely a minuet will pass between the killings and his mask being ripped off his face and you being slammed into a wall. Of course his reasons for killing before you were jealously, but now he wants to immortalise your love by killing anyone else who dares to taint the name of romance. These killings are your show of love for each other and nothing makes him more turned on. Of course he’ll take you back home, nice and proper. He’ll make out with you in public, but he doesn’t want to risk anyone seeing what’s ONLY his. And he doesn’t want any interruptions.
An: ahhh, I haven’t written in so long, but I felt inspired this morning. Sorry for being gone yall, I promise I’m alright, just lots of medical stuff going on and doctor appointments have been keeping me busy. I love yall. Hope to write more soon 🫀

There were a lot of things that turned out to be just as unpleasant about falling, not including the actual falling part.
For one, he was weaker than he used to be. He did suspect that would happen, but it still hurt his ego a bit. He used to have so much power that he often didn’t even know what all to do with it. Not that he really could do much with it anyway; the big men upstairs never allowed much fun to be had. More time was spent existing as a militant entity than was spent actually basking in the alleged splendor that was heaven.
If given the option between going back to that or experiencing the pain of falling all over again, Kurt would choose to fall every damn day.
Besides, angels don’t get to play with humans like they’re Barbie dolls. And that’s way more fun.
The man before him, unsuspecting and ignorant, saw Kurt at a bar and thought he’d be an easy target. Kurt knew he perfectly looked the part of a young man getting his first drink at a bar as a twenty-one year old. Aging was such an earthly concept and Kurt was not burdened with it. But to an older man, the illusion of wide-eyed innocence was all too compelling.
Kurt claimed he ‘knew a spot’, which was just as cliché as it sounded, but it was effective nonetheless. Apparently intelligence didn’t always come with age.
It wasn’t long after he got the man to the abandoned storage facility that he knew something was terribly, terribly wrong. Not soon enough, though, for Kurt had already made quick work of knocking the man out and handcuffing him to a chair. When he came to once more, it was in a fit of panic.
“Look, I didn’t sign up for this kind of crazy! So just let me go, okay?” The man pleaded with Kurt and it was charming if nothing else. Kurt leaned over him, one knee braced against the chair in a way that could be seen as provocative in any other circumstance.
“What, am I too old for you?” Kurt asked in a mocking whine. “I swear, I’m only twenty, maybe thirty centuries old!”
“Whatever game you’re playing here, kid, I’m not interested so just let me-”
“Let him go, Kurt,” a voice spoke up behind him. Kurt grinned as he straightened up. Of course he would show up. It was impossible for him to stay away. He made a bit of a show of turning around to face the new arrival — his favorite little angel.
He turned towards the voice, maintaining his flirty tone. “Just can’t stay away from me, can you?”
“You could say that,” Blaine replied and that’s when Kurt saw it — the glint of a blade held discreetly in his palm. He recognized the weapon, as it was a piece from Heaven’s arsenal. See, a regular knife couldn’t kill Kurt.
But that one could.
Kurt’s grin dropped as he backed away from the man strapped to the chair, and subsequently also away from Blaine. “What do you think you’re doing with that?”
“You attract too much attention to yourself.”
“Well, I can’t help but pull focus,” Kurt responded in a rather clipped manner. The man in the chair began to panic even more upon being approached by Blaine.
“Listen, man,” the guy began quickly, “you don’t need to kill him or anything! Just let me go and I’ll be on my way!”
Blaine’s eyes flickered down to the stranger, eerily calm. “You don’t need to see this,” he said simply and before the man could even begin to reply, Blaine rested his palm to his forehead, immediately knocking him out. Putting a human to sleep rather than killing them; that was so painfully just like Blaine to do.
“Why do you have that thing?” Kurt interrogated the second that the man was unconscious.
Blaine turned the knife a bit in his hand as if observing it. “Come on, Kurt, you know exactly what this is.”
Kurt maintained a semi-safe distance. “Why do you need that thing to kill me? You’ve never needed that for a demon before.” It was true. Blaine could take down a demon easily. It made them cruelly unmatched. Blaine had never threatened to kill him before, but it would be undoubtedly easy for him to do so should he want to. For Blaine, a demon is an easy target. He was an easy target.
Unless…
Kurt’s grin returned. “You can’t kill me, can you?” He asked coyly.
Blaine remained serious, but Kurt could see a crack in his expression letting on that he was nervous. Kurt seemed to always have that effect on him. “Not at my rank, no,” he said simply, but Kurt knew what he meant. He wasn’t strong enough to take out Kurt. An ordinary demon, he’d have no problem. But as luck would have it, Kurt wasn’t an ordinary demon.
Kurt took a risk. He moved a few steps towards Blaine and the weapon he possessed. “You’re not going to kill me.”
“I could.”
A few more steps. “But you won’t.”
“I might.”
“But you won’t.” Kurt was directly in front of him now. He knew it was a dangerous game, but he had a point to prove. “Because if you were going to, you would’ve done it already. So tell me angel, was this a direct order from one of your bossmen, or are you just simply that obsessed with me?”
“Don’t push your luck, Kurt,” Blaine spoke, gravely serious.
“Or what?” Kurt challenged. He could feel Blaine’s steady breaths from just how close they were. Blaine’s gaze met his evenly. “If you’re going to kill me, then do it. I’m wide open.” Kurt tilted his head a fraction, his eyes alight with the rush that comes with toying with Blaine. His tone shifted into something devilishly flirtatious as he spoke again. “So, y’know, take me, I’m yours and all that.”
It was then that Blaine sprung into action. With quick work, he managed to securely grip onto the collar of Kurt’s shirt, using his strength over the other to force Kurt backwards. There was a time where Kurt may have been stronger than him. But Kurt gave all that up, and he still refused to regret it.
That didn’t mean he loved Blaine constantly using that fact against him.
Blaine got him against a wall with one particularly rough push. Kurt felt the brittle wall crack slightly behind him. Fuck, Blaine was strong.
Blaine was strong.
Once Blaine has Kurt pinned defenseless against the wall, he brings the blade down. Kurt doesn’t know whether it was thanks to adrenaline, or his own sense of speed in the face of self-preservation, but he reached up and circled his fingers around Blaine’s wrist before he could manage to connect the weapon.
The blade stilled, suspended in the air between them. Kurt imagined the scene was almost picturesque in a way — him pressed between Blaine’s firm body and the unforgiving wall, his long fingers locked around Blaine’s wrist. Angel and demon. Lovers. Enemies.
Blaine really was going to kill him.
Their shared breathing revealed the exhaustion that their overexertion had caused. Kurt knew, given his current position, he was fully at Blaine’s mercy. The mercy of an angel who just tried to kill him.
That gave Kurt little other choice. Slowly, he tugged at Blaine’s wrist until the blade was sitting just above his throat. He leveled Blaine with a steely look, deathly serious. “Well, go ahead, angel. Do what you gotta do.”
“I don’t want to kill you, Kurt,” Blaine clarified, but didn’t pull the blade away.
“Could’ve fooled me,” he bit out before he could even think to check his tone. This was, in large part, his own doing. He opened the door for Blaine to corner him, he really had no right to be upset about it actually occurring. Even in his current position, Kurt couldn’t refrain from looking down his nose at Blaine, hoping to properly demonstrate his distaste from his present circumstances. “I’m guessing you got assigned a job from one of the big men upstairs?”
“You’re lucky that it’s me and not someone else.”
“Oh yeah, I sure feel lucky.” Kurt’s fingers twitched around Blaine’s wrist as he continued to hold the blade close to Kurt’s throat. But hasn’t pressed in yet, and Kurt cannot fathom why. He has the perfect opportunity. Kurt is basically giving him a free pass, so why isn’t he going for it? “Well?”
Blaine’s grip on the weapon slacked just a bit. “Nothing is ever easy with you.”
“So why don’t you take care of the problem?”
Blaine said nothing, did nothing. He only stood and continued to watch Kurt in silence, and Kurt could practically see the flurry of thoughts swirl around in Blaine’s head. Kurt almost felt bad for the guy; he knew that he didn’t make Blaine’s job simple, and admittedly, does very little to combat that fact.
Eventually, though, Blaine shakes his head. “You’re right. I won’t do it.”
The sound of the metal blade clattering to the ground reverberated discordantly off the walls of the warehouse.
Kurt took no time to ponder Blaine’s decision to spare him. Instead, he kicked the weapon away from the two of them and then, in quick succession, flipped their two positions. Blaine didn’t put up any fight with being pushed up against the wall himself. He could break free if he really wanted to. He chose not to.
“Do you still love me, Blaine?” Kurt asked, not ready for the words to fall from his mouth before they did.
“Are demons even capable of love?”
Kurt wasn’t sure. Maybe demons who never experienced love aren’t. Love is formed from soul, grace, and humanity, of which demons have none.
But Kurt wasn’t always a demon, and he still didn’t really fit the mold of one. Fallen angels are different from regular demons. They still possess morality, at least to some extent. It was just like Kurt to never really fit in anywhere.
“Do you? Still love me?”
Honey colored eyes gazed at Kurt with something akin to sympathy, which would burn his blood if it weren’t for the fact that he so desperately needed a response.
Blaine nodded.
Kurt kissed him. He didn’t even hesitate. With Blaine pinned up against the wall, it was easy for him to leverage a searing, bruising kiss against soft lips. Blaine always tasted the same, like coffee, — such an earthly pleasure that he achieved no benefit from and only chose to indulge for its luxury — and something else a touch more divine. Kurt couldn’t quite pinpoint it, but it tasted vaguely familiar from the holy kingdom that he was no longer welcome to.
Kurt pulled away with a sigh. Blaine panted quietly, a faintly pink blush forming under tanned skin. Kurt was right about one thing, Blaine was an angel — in every sense of the word.
“I don’t suppose I can convince you to disappear for your own safety?” Blaine eventually asked.
Kurt smiled. “Not a chance in hell.”
Blaine nodded in understanding, as if he already anticipated Kurt’s response. “You always were stubborn to a fault.”
Blaine wasn’t wrong. And as much as he would love to stand here with Blaine forever, it wasn’t wise to hang around angels for too long — even if the angel in question was Blaine.
He finally stepped away from Blaine, allowing the man some space. Kurt glanced over to the man tied to the chair. He had forgotten that guy was here. He was simply a means to an end, afterall.
“You may want to wipe that guy’s mind, angel. Or else he’s going to be a real problem when he wakes up.”
Kurt headed towards the exit of the building, but not before Blaine called out to him. “Suddenly not so keen on sticking around?”
Kurt grinned, if not mostly to himself. “Oh, don’t worry, you’ll find me again. And who knows? Maybe you’ll actually have it in you to kill me next time.”

Kurt's fashion sense while attending Dalton
I was comparing some outfits from S2 when I noticed Kurt seems to stop accessorizing his Dalton uniform after Special Education - which makes a lot of sense with the main Kurt plot of that episode, with Blaine advising him to fit in with the Warblers (and Dalton.) Kurt's individuality takes a blow and it has lasting effects, until the end of the arc, on his main self expression: his fashion.
The Dalton arc taking place over the winter (okay, well, from November to Spring, to be more precise) gives Kurt an excellent chance and excuse to still show off his wardrobe through winter coats and scarfs (which he loves!), but he notably does not take it and chooses to make the uniform the center piece of his ensembles, rather than trying to style over it.

The first non-uniform outfit (generous wording) we see from him is in The Sue Sylvester Shuffle. He seems to have a very straightforward goal: match Blaine, who at this time wears some of the most unoffending and average outfits on the show. His style (if you can call it that) is less preppy at this time (with the exception of the black polo shirt in PQ) and more of a cross section of socially acceptable and loosely in style. A lot of jeans and neutral, dark colors.
The scarves they wear here still sport the Dalton colors - navy blue and red. Even Kurt's coat seems to be a dark shade of blue (from what I can tell.)

S1 doesn't have a lot of winter clothes to compare to (it doesn't help they are mostly indoors, so I have a hard time deciding how much functionality these coats have and if he would layer anything over these) but these would be the ones I'd like to highlight to properly contrast Dalton!Kurt with - from Wheels (this seems to be same coat though?), Sectionals and Hell-O - where the overall look is much more fashionable and are the kind of coats and accessories I'd assume he would still choose. Perhaps even more extravagant, since he has very little legspace to express himself now, being stuck in the uniform (that he finds unflattering!)
But the lack of hat is honestly surprising to me, as a side note.
I don't even have to theorize too much about what I'd have expected Kurt's winter fashion to look like when attending Dalton, because the show does it for me in the first Klaine scene of SLS.

This cream color outfit that hides pretty much all of his uniform (but... I have to mention that the school issued pants probably fit with the color scheme really well - no full body shot of Kurt though, so. But I trust my style icon.) and contrasts him extremely well with Blaine.

I do not think it is a coincidence either - because the scene itself is about Kurt misunderstanding Blaine and thinking he will be confessed to this Valentine's with a serenade (aw...)
We have a scene before the next outfit, where during the Warbler meeting Kurt shoots himself in the leg and convinces the council to sign off on the Gap Attack.

After, though, we get this outfit, where the main focal point seems to be his Dalton tie. The scarf, coat and gloves are all very dark with no embellishments and he is also without a hat to distract you - your eye is naturally drawn to the bright red stripes, right in the middle. If you squint, the tie is the only thing you can reliably make out. Kurt trying desperately to emphasize this bond and connection he has with Blaine (even if it is just going to the same school) is interesting to me.
And we finally live to see the episode where he is fully out of the uniform too!

The red shirt + leather outfit may be the most interesting and flamboyant outfit he wears during these ten or so episodes. But it is still a very bright red - evoking not just Dalton, but Glee's own color symbolism of it being the color of individuality (here is a great post to understand this more.) And, once again, Kurt's show of individuality is associated with another heartbreak - this time the Anderberry kiss.
So if you are willing to be a little insane (and give a lot of credit to the costume department) this is a great look to emphasize his place in the story as of now: he does not fit in with the ND (who apparently did not even invite him and had to blackmail himself in through Finn) or the Warblers. He is a little bit of both but also neither because he is searching for a way to still be himself and part of a team at the same time.
I think the leather tie also leans into the Dalton uniform a bit. While Kurt is also just someone who likes wearing ties (he even irons them) it makes the outfit (and analogy) that much more cohesive.
The other outfit, I think is notable for three things: the cardigan is a very similar cut as Blaine's (only) coat, the color palette is grey and it, once again, has a tie. A very far cry from the bright red, leather and pins outfit from a few days before, understandably so.

And then we reach Sexy, here the center piece seems to be the Dalton blazer, with the red scarf, tucked in tie and v-neck all effectively making up a color block to emphasize it. Not to mention, this is the exact same outfit Blaine wore just an episode prior in BIOTA.

We also see him at home once again, with the same gray color scheme of a knit black sweater and a grey shirt underneath.

Reaching Night of Neglect and seeing Kurt and Blaine effectively match each other is now extremely commonplace.

This all comes to head in BTW - the first outfit of note is when he has a talk with Dave. The tie is switched to a bowtie, notice the scissors brooch for "cutting ties" and how much more... S1 Kurt it is.
The other outfit is seen after his transfer is official. The coat may the most unconventional we've seen so far (it also reminds me of a straitjacket) with the keys dangling from his neck. The Pavarotti analogy, him "finding his voice", keeping the keys proudly on display that he will not lock himself away any longer (and may even be more open to asking for help) all make perfect sense here. Not to mention, while the color scheme does not deviate all that much, it is a much more refined look.

I'm including these two mostly for completion's sake, but they do cap off the other story lines told through Kurt's fashion pretty neatly - the first one is weird, it is flashy and layered. He really is back!
The other one may be the most pedestrian look of his (before S5, at least) but the 'Likes boys' displayed boldly in black and white is just a sweet moment after everything that S2 threw at him. Even if Kurt says this was a pretty good year, lol.

This episode is about diplomacy. Power. Secrets. Borders. But at the center of it is one man, trying to do right by the woman he loves — even if it breaks him.
And that man is Nick Blaine.
We begin with June reflecting on her “reduced circumstances,” but what’s most striking is how present Nick is from the jump. He doesn’t say much — he never does — but the way he pauses anytime she’s in the room? The way he looks? The weight of what he’s holding? It’s so loud in the silence.
Eden’s trying. She brings food. She smiles. She wants the marriage to be something real. But Nick? He can barely look at her. He’s polite. Distant. Miserable.
Because all he wants is June.
And the guilt of that — the fact that he can’t give Eden what she wants and doesn’t want to — is already starting to eat at him. Something that’s going to come back hard in later episodes.
Then: the trip to Canada.
My man Nick Blaine in the car? Stoic. Broody. Elite sad face.
We meet Tuello (hi Treason and Coconuts™), and while I still don’t fully get his Serena fixation even five seasons later, what stands out here is the difference in presence.
Tuello talks. Nick watches. Tuello plays politics. Nick protects. Tuello walks in with a strategy. Nick walks in with everything to lose.
Because Nick’s not here for diplomacy. He’s here because June matters.
Let’s talk about Luke.
The confrontation with Fred is electric — and when Luke pulls out that photo of June, Hannah, and himself — you can see Nick’s entire soul flinch.
He’s crushed. Not because he didn’t know Luke existed. But because seeing it — seeing the life she had, the life he can’t give her — hits different.
And yet… Nick does the right thing anyway.
He doesn’t have to find Luke. He doesn’t have to deliver the letters. He doesn’t have to say anything at all.
But he does.
He finds Luke at the bar. He hands over the letters. He passes on the message:
“You look out for her. And you tell her that I love her. And I’m not gonna stop.”
And even when Luke assumes the baby is Fred’s (ouch), Nick lets it go. Because that isn’t his news to tell.
“I know June. She’s my friend.”
Just… ugh. That line. That restraint. That honor. Nick isn’t trying to stake a claim. He’s trying to do right by June, no matter what it costs.
And it costs.
Because then we get to the final scene.
June is awake in her room. Hopeful. Glowing. She sees Nick and lights up. She thinks maybe — just maybe — this is one of those rare soft moments. A quiet reunion.
And then he tells her:
“I met your husband.”
He doesn’t say it bitterly. He doesn’t use it to hurt her. He just tells her the truth. Because Nick never lies to her.
He even moves toward the window — can’t look at her as he says it. Because it’s too much. Because he knows what it means. Because he loves her.
“Thank you for that. Thank you for bringing me that.” —June
And then, softly he says:
“I love you.”
He says it even though he knows what it might cost him. Even though she doesn’t say it back. Even though her husband now knows she’s alive.
Because love, to Nick, isn’t about winning. It’s about devotion. It’s about being true, even when it hurts.
This entire episode goes in the “Nick Blaine is a good man” file. The sacrifice. The restraint. The quiet heartbreak. He doesn’t take credit. He doesn’t make a move. He just tells the truth. And walks away.
Because he loves her. And that’s all there is.

"Come on, Crowley, pick up," Dean growls. He calls him again and shakes his head. "I've left him a dozen messages. Why isn't he answering the phone?"
"Because he's a dick, and that's not breaking news."
"He's gotta have Rowena in his sights, right? I mean, she did try to take him out."
"He's not gonna deliver Rowena to us just so she can lift the spell. He'd rather let it do whatever it's gonna do to me," Castiel sighs.
Again, another pang of guilt hits your chest.
"He's gotta be up to something."
"Again, that's not breaking news. Metatron is also off the grid. He stole your car in Blaine, Missouri, right?" Sam asks.
"Yeah."
"There haven't been reports of any accidents, incidents, violations, or anything remotely interesting involving a shitty '78 Continental Mark V."
"You think it's shitty?" Castiel sighs. Sam and Dean shrug and Castiel looks away. "He's been a shut-in for centuries. You wouldn't think he would be a good driver."
"You know what? I'll look for unusual occurrences at places he might hang out. Know of anywhere that might be?"
"I mean, he loves waffles. You could try places that have those."
"Okay, so, every restaurant in the entire country." Castiel groans and falls off the chair onto the ground. "Cas?"
The angel grunts out in pain like an animal but you stay seated where you are. There is no way you can go over to Castiel knowing you can't help him. You want to help him but you don't know how. The other you... dark you... knew how to do it. You're afraid of using magic like hers because you might turn into her again and there is no way in Hell you'll ever do that again.
"Cas? Hey. Are you okay?" Sam asks and helps him back into the chair.
"Relative to what?"
"Do you know where you are? What's the date?"
"Earth. Several billion years from the beginning. It's like I was inside a blender that was set to purée for a tomato salsa."
"Let me guess, you're the tomato?"
"In this analogy, yes."
Castiel takes several deep breaths and leans back in his chair.
"Cas, what was that? You scared the shit out of us," Sam sighs.
"I blacked out for a lot of it, but I don't know. It overwhelmed me. I couldn't control it."
"Damn. We gotta find that witch."
You can't help but let a single tear fall because of how much you're hurting. You hate that you can't help your friend.
"What can I do to help?" Castiel asks.
"No, you just sit there and take a breather. You know, try and put yourself back together."
"Okay. I'll do my best. It's difficult with these voices."
"Now there are voices?"
"Are these voices telling you to hurt someone?" Dean asks.
"No, I'm hearing angel radio. It's a lot of chatter. They've been looking for me ever since I escaped, as well as scouring the Earth for the perp. It's slang for 'perpetrator'." Sam and Dean chuckle at his joke but you stay silent. "They're doubling the effort to find Metatron so if we need to get hold of him, better do it soon."
"Yeah, before the God Squad does. Alright, well, first things first. We gotta fix you."
Sam takes out his phone when it pings a notification, and he immediately scrolls through the police chatter he set up.
"Check this out. There might be something here. In Denver, three women were at Café Elta when their waiter, for no apparent reason, stabbed and killed one of them. One survived and the third vanished after furniture seemed to slide around by itself. Who do you think that could be?"
"Let's go."
Three dots appear next to Molly's name which means she is responding to your private message. They disappear only to return seconds later.
Molly: Yes! I am free tomorrow if you'd like to meet.
You: Great. I appreciate it. I'll be home all day tomorrow so just let me know when you're on your way.
You give her the address to the Bunker along with your phone number before logging out of the chat. You look at Castiel whose eyes seem to be getting darker in color. He's more agitated and you don't trust the kids to stay here with him.
"We're bringing the kids." You get up and approach Castiel. "If you hurt my dogs, I will hurt you."
"I won't," he promises.
After getting the kids ready, you all take the nearly six-hour drive to Denver. Noah is happy to come along but you don't tell them that you didn't want them staying with Castiel when he's in that state. The only survivor of the terrible incident is sitting in the interrogation room when you get to the police station, and Sam and Dean take the lead while you stay back with your kids. You keep them in the room with Sam and Dean but keep them in the corner so they don't interfere. Noah is watching with wide eyes, eager to know the ins and outs of interrogating someone.
"So, ladies lunch goes south when a waiter who reeks of sulfur attacks with a blade, killing one of you, while the redhead who invited you yells something in Latin, disappears, and the furniture forms a pile. That about right?" Dean explains.
"Yup."
"Any idea why a demon would wanna attack three witches?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," she stutters.
"Right. The waiter was possessed by a demon assassin who was gunning for Rowena since she tried to kill her son Crowley, who just so happens to be the King of Hell."
"Why do I think you're not FBI like the police said?"
"Okay, let's cut to it. The cops say that you're so scared that you don't wanna leave here. Well, you should be because Crowley is not only going after Rowena, he's going after every witch that she hangs with."
"I'm not a witch," she shakes her head.
"Sure you are. Your pal, Rowena, is recruiting a new coven, right?"
She gets up to leave but Sam and Dean are quicker than she is. She clutches her bag which Dean yanks from her and tosses it to Sam. She immediately sits back down just as Sam dumps the contents of her purse onto the table.
"You can't do this. I have rights!"
"I have a fake badge," Dean rolls his eyes.
"Look at this. Chicken bones. Hex bags. A pentagram. Still sticking with not a witch, huh?" Sam chuckles.
The witch starts to chant something and Dean walks over to her and grips her throat not tight enough to hurt her but enough to cut off her chanting.
"Listen, before you finish what you're about to say, know that we are the only thing between you and Crowley's ninjas."
"I didn't try to hurt him," she gasps. He lets go of her and she rubs her throat. "I'm nobody. I'm worse than nobody. I'm nobody's third cousin who doesn't even get invited to dinner."
"We don't care. We just need to know where Rowena is."
"I have no idea."
"You do know how to scry, though, right?"
"Scry? What is that?" she asks.
"Exactly what you know it is. A locating spell. You witches use crystals, prisms, and mirrors to divine images of who you're trying to find. We're trying to get our hands on Rowena. Think about it. With her out of the picture, Crowley has no reason to go after you."
"I don't have my crystals," she sighs.
Dean grabs a small cosmetic mirror from her purse and hands it to her.
"This ought to work, yeah?" She takes it and confirms his accusations. "I'll get the light."
Dean turns the light off and she uses the mirror for her spell. The mirror is enough to give her what she's looking for.
"I see her," the witch says. "She's packing a bag."
"Where?" Sam asks.
"The Sunlit Motel. The one down the street. Room 115."
Now that you know where Rowena is, you don't waste time in getting to her. Sam offered to stay in the car with the kids so you and Dean could grab her. Dean paid a taxi driver to allow him to use his car for ten minutes which allowed him to go on a smoke break. He disguises himself in a straw hat, a Hawaiian shirt, and sunglasses so that Rowena doesn't recognize him immediately. She steps out of her room wearing a blonde wig and grabs her only two bags before rushing to the taxi.
"Airport. Be careful with the bags. They're antiquities." She opens the back door of the taxi and looks at Dean. She immediately recognizes him and flings him back with her magic. "Abi!" He goes flying into the wall behind him with a grunt of pain. "This is just my way of giving you the finger, Mr. Winchester. I don't suppose you're here to thank me for removing the Mark of Cain, which, by the way, you're welcome! Let's just take things up a notch. What do you say?"
Before she has a chance to do any more magic on him, you come up behind her and slap iron handcuffs to her wrist. She gasps and you grab the back of her throat in warning.
"I don't think you want to do that," you whisper in her ear. "I might not be the Scarlet Witch anymore but piss me off and I might tap into that magic again. Do not test me."
"I think you'd know by now, Y/N, that these things don't hold me long," she growls.
"It just needs to hold you long enough. Come on."
You yank her by her neck and force her to come with you.
"Well, they do say blondes have more fun."
You bring Rowena back to the Bunker in a separate car since there is no way you'd have her in the same car as your kids. Castiel seems glued to Sam's computer when you get in, and he doesn't even notice when you drag Rowena down to the basement.
"Why don't you go play in your rooms, okay? I'll be right there."
The kids run off to their rooms with both dogs following them. Good boys. Go protect them. Better than I can. You follow the brothers down to the dungeon where Dean is strapping a red-haired Rowena to the chair and Sam is going through her bags.
"Mind the undergarments, Samuel. Imported, of course."
"Where is it?"
"Where is what, dear?"
"The book! The Book of the Damned." He grabs a smaller book from one of her bags. "The codex is in here, but the book is not. Where the hell is it?"
"Do you take me for a fool? Like I'd run around with those two spectacularly powerful items anywhere in proximity."
"Now that we've got the codex and Charlie's code-breaking, the book isn't as useful to you as it was."
You look down in shame when Sam mentions Charlie's name. If you concentrate really hard, you can still hear her screams when you forced her to knife herself.
"Or so you hope," she smirks. "That's what I admire in you, Samuel. That plucky optimism. That plucky, stupid optimism."
"Sam, why don't you go grab Cas so Florence Nightingale here can do her stuff?"
Sam leaves you and Dean alone in the dungeon with Rowena, and Dean sits at the table where her bags are. He plops his feet up on the desk, kicking her bag completely off the table. You stand by the doorway just watching her, and she seems particularly interested in you.
"You do recall our deal, eh? First I de-spell the angel, then I go free," she says to Dean without taking her eyes off you.
"Except for one thing."
"There were no exceptions in our arrangement," she glares at Dean.
"The book. I'm gonna need that baby back."
"The book was never mentioned in our negotiations."
"Now it is."
"Our deal says--"
"Our deal says whatever the fuck we want it to say," you growl and step forward. "You're gonna play by our rules."
"Or what? You'll use your magic on me? Come on, I'm not an idiot. You would have blasted me into next week if you could handle using magic again. The Scarlet Witch must have taken a lot out of you. Going down that dark road has got you scared, doesn't it?"
That shut you right up. You can't say anything to that because it's true. You're terrified to use magic again, and it doesn't help that she knows it. Dean looks at you and sees the ghostly look in your eyes.
"We'll call your son. We've got him on speed dial," Dean says.
"Call him. If I'm dead, you've got a big fat pile of nothing. No book ever, and your friend with the bent halo? He goes foaming-at-the-mouth mad and dies. Your turn!" She grins but Dean stares at her with a deadly glare. "Your eyes... so burdened. What happened precisely when I removed the Mark? The book wasn't specific. Yes, I read quite a bit of it. What new hell has Dean Winchester unleashed upon the world?"
"Shut up," you bite out.
"Dean! Y/N!" Sam rushes back into the dungeon with wide eyes. "I can't find Cas. He's not there. He broke free. He's gone."
"Shit," you curse and rub your arms. "We have to find him but I can't bring the kids with us. They're not safe with Rowena and Castiel."
"I'll stay here and watch them. You two go," Sam offers.
"Are you sure?"
"Let me do this for you. Go. It's okay."
"Let's go," Dean says to the witch.
