#how do I still draw the show's protagonist wrong

Note
On this page, I've noticed, you've responded to a few asks, that essentially boil down to, "if someone did this, could they escape the cruelties of the world that exist in TSV?" And of what I've read, you've answered with what ultimately amounts to: They could try, but some other aspect of the world would eventually end up consuming it/nullify it/make it unrealistic to maintain in some way.
There have been other similar questions, but what especially spurred my thoughts on this was an ask you answered a bit ago that was asking if there were any in-universe equivalents to communism/socialism.
And you can of course correct me if I'm interpreting anything wrong here. I'm simplifying, but I've been genuinely mulling this over in my head for a bit now.
If TSV is, in large part, symbolic of & and an allegory to capitalism, then your answers, from my point of view, almost seems to affirm capitalism as an inescapable default.
For example, to refer back to communism ask, you say: "I can easily imagine TSV-world operating lots of little communes which appear independent and self-sufficient but which are, effectively, free-range sacrifice fields."
So even if a community were to succeed with breaking free from the systems at play, those same systems would still ultimately get them in the end. It would render those communities unsustainable, I'd think. I'd think they would inevitably be wiped out again and again, each time a new community crops up. Unless I've misunderstood something in your answers somewhere.
Genuinely, I'm not always the brightest person, so I could be missing something here. If I am, I also want to ask, is there anything that could be done to tear down the system at play? Would it take an entire society reset, where every brick of what was there before has been misplaced and the foundation ruined, to make possible the hope for something different? Or is the world of TSV doomed to its cycle?
I definitely don't agree that capitalism is an inescapable default, nor is that a conclusion I'd personally draw from the show (insert LeGuin quote about the rule of kings here).
I think there are relevant and challenging questions of 'Will we get away and how much will be left of us if we do?' and 'How can we build anything that can't be taken from us?' which the story of the podcast is aiming to explore through the struggles of its protagonists.
But these worldbuilding questions are ultimately about the relentless status quo of the setting, and so my answers will be trying to explain why it's successfully remained the status quo.
In other words, it'd be undermining the action and intention of the story - in my view - for me to answer 'yup, there's actually a successful fully-fledged alternative society just offscreen that's functioning without gods or sacrifice' or 'yes, that'd totally work, weird that nobody thought to do it', but that isn't intended as a subscription to outright doomerism or as evidence that the final message of the show is that it's hopeless to put up a fight.
#wait i’ve just been reminded that we did a wholeass ten-minute speech where the Cairn Maiden predicts the inevitable death of capitalism#so I should really just point you to that

ROUND FOUR
ROCK LEE vs HATAKE KAKASHI
Reasons for submission under the cut
Lee
ROCK LEE VS GAARA
kind as can be; willing to jump to action to help his fellow comrades even after going through a life-threatening, major surgery
practical and fashion-forward with his bright green onesie. Function over form, and is prepared at all times by carrying around a spare onesie he will give without question to anyone - even complete strangers
has a surprising edge to him at the beginning of the series; he was ready to severely maim anybody that he saw as a genius
more dedicated than anyone. Was forced to face his own mortality and make a life-or-death decision in the name of his dream, after a literal crushing defeat, and he chose to fight for it. Inspiring
embodies the ideals of original series Naruto. True underdog, had nothing going for him, came from nothing with no legacy or powers, was so disadvantaged that he physically could not meet the bare minimum abilities of his peers. But he worked harder than everyone else and proved that he can be a great shinobi despite all the adversity he faced
Sasuke had to copy Lee’s moves with his Sharingan to succeed during Chuunin exams
cute as a button. Come on.
his fans are dedicated and make amazing work, fanart and fanfic
Kishimoto said he was his favorite character to draw. Boom. Favoritism. Love to see it.
pairs well with everyone. Platonic or romantic, Lee has a great dynamic with other characters
his summer outfit from Guardian of the Crescent Moon Kingdom was the best outfit in the movie
gave us Metal Lee! Blessed us with Metal Lee, really
was the character to beat in the early series if you wanted to show how strong you actually are
Gaara vs Rock Lee was one of the most iconic fights in the series, and everyone remembers where they were when they first saw Lee drop his weights. He owned that fight so hard that people forget he lost.
was wronged by the series. He deserves to win as justice.
got [submitter] personally through the worst times; his ability to persevere face of adversity convinced me I could do it too. He wasn’t special and neither was [submitter], but we didn’t need to be. We can make ourselves great. If no one else got me, Rock Lee’s got me
he’s one of the first non-jutsu using ninja so make such a big impact
was the first person to actually harm Gaara
played a huge part in Gaara becoming a better person
he’s one of the only people that can catch up to Sasuke and easily rivals Naruto in Taijutsu
his kind, determined and cheerful attitude is a joy to watch
Rock Lee removing his weights is easily one of the most iconic moments in the entire anime
has helped several submitters feel better by simply thinking about how he wouldn’t want them to think like that
objectively would’ve made a better protagonist based on the themes alone
KICKS MAJOR ASS
wrecked Sasukes shit, I like Sasuke but that was really funny
he looks like a frog. Who doesn’t like frogs
inspired Sasuke
fights are always entertaining, they’re very well choreographed
he forgave Gaara for nearly killing him and nearly ending his dreams; he was never even mad at him
Rock Lee vs Sasuke was iconic
his heart is so full of love
never did anything wrong
had a squirrel befriend him
hard worker
good friend
rises to any challenge
when he does diss people they are the most brutal yet entertaining disses you ever hear
positive, weirdo, energetic, enthusiastic, joyful, chivalrous, motivated, dedicated, sweet
Lee and Neji had something homosexual going on
YOUTH !!!!
Kakashi
relatable as an adult
he is just an overworked guy who was told to watch some kids w LOTS of issues
needs therapy
good presence and guidance in Narutos life
interesting
cares about and is dedicated to his students very much
he is just cool
he is trying his best despite what he has been through in the past
is up for having fun but still knows when to be serious
was a narcissistic shit but grew out of it
has good intentions
sexy
wonderfully complex and well developed character
incredibly resilient and supportive
a sad and deeply broken man
always willing to give his life to protect them and his other precious people
just wanted everything to be ok for once in his life
hated Danzo
his friendship with Gai is adorable
the way he teases Tenzo is fun
he’s known as cool and aloof but in reality he’s a huge dork
Gai would want him to win

I feel like all the hate on Jimmy has, ironically, morphed into an obsession with him.
You don’t see Jimmy in a post that has the rest of the crew of the Tulpar, and everyone says “thanks for excluding Jimmy” - “good job not drawing Jambalaya” - etc., and when you do see him in a post it’s all “I’m sorry you had to draw Jimmy”. He gets a large wave of mentions on a post either way.
The large variety of nicknames and their use are also starting to paradoxically seem like actual friendly goofy nicknames instead of bullying. I get that people claim to do that in hatred of Jimmy, but I think people have so much fun making them that they get excited to try out a new nickname and therefore get excited to talk about Jimmy.
I’ve seen him called Jimbob, J, J*mmy, Junkyard, Jenga, Jorts, Jambalaya, Jabortion, P. Jiddy, J. Diddy, Jiminy Cricket, Jimmychanga, Jidiot, Juxtaposition, Jar-Jar, Jumanji, Germy, the list goes on further than I could write.
I’m not making this as some sort of callout post saying people are wrong for doing this and should stop, because I am also guilty of it.
I just had the epiphany that it’s ironic how much attention and focus Jimmy gets despite how much people hate him. It feels antithetical to that message of hate everybody’s comments seem to put out. Something like, “if we really want to punish him, shouldn’t we let him be forgotten?”
Nonetheless, I really think Jimmy is a very interesting character who should be studied, discussed, and yeah ridiculed. A lot of what makes Mouthwashing so insane mind-openingly good to me is its use of a not immediately apparent unreliable narrator, which is Jimmy. He challenges the notion that the protagonist is good and correct all the time. It shows the delusional mindset people like him have, which I think was really cleverly shown in the rant with all the quest popups coming up and Jimmy yelling about how burdened and put upon he is by all the requests he has to put up with. It suggests that maybe Mouthwashing isn’t structured like a game because that’s the medium, but rather because Jimmy thinks of himself like a video game hero: the main character enduring trials who’s in the right and just misunderstood. This mindset allows for a lot of “doing what ‘must’ be done” actions, which is apparent from the very first action of the game, where you are prompted “turn right” and nothing else in the face of a screen saying to go left to avoid a crash. As a player, there’s no other way to progress the game than to do the horrible things Jimmy does, and I think that’s symbolic of how Jimmy sees his actions too.
The nuance to how horrible a person Jimmy is mixed with a perspective that tries to justify his side of things makes for a really interesting story to analyze and shows how actual people can become like that in real life. Seeing “his side of things” ultimately doesn’t absolve him of what he did, but I feel like it provides opportunities for some people to try and defend him with that, which once again mirrors how in real life people try to argue that “we just haven’t seen this terrible guy’s side of things!” and may advocate for him when they think there’s some tragic backstory missing. Sometimes it’s just about the deeds that were ultimately done.
I just think if people get over fake excluding Jimmy some really good analyses and fan works could be made about the deeper parts of Mouthwashing without still glorifying Jimmy or whatever
This has really gone of the rails but I think I meant most of what I said.
#skeletalking#rant#mouthwashing#mouthwashing jimmy#jimmy mouthwashing#anti jimmy mouthwashing#do I even have to tag that?#I feel like most opinions of him are bad

ikevil - tips on how to draw harrison gray
<- previous: william + series introduction
section 1 - observation
finding important traits
little ahoge ♥
droopy, sleepy looking eyes
mustache and sherlock pipe optional
is it just me, or does he has a triple eyelid
thin nose as well, but not as thin as william's
rounder features
eyebrows are (
his smile is :]
section 2 - study
imitating the original sprite
i'm very, very sorry. i have massacred your boy. i'll make it up to you in section 3 🤧
the fluff was hell. I was mostly fucking around
breaking it down.
hair
not nearly as horrific as william's, but still terrible in its own way.
these examples are from my version because of how terrible the imitation turned out
magenta: back hair. spiky and extends out. think of russell from end roll (rightmost image)
red: the hard part. I recommend having an extra layer just for this part because you don't want to ruin everything, right? 😭😭 four spikes.
yellow: it's... kind of like red, but smaller. how do I explain this
green: cute ahoge <3
blue: it's kind of just there
purple: I assume this is hair tucked behind the ear. it's difficult to tell on the original sprite, but it's there.
2. eyes
his eyes are... kind of an omelette shape. a squished omelette.
both corners extend downwards.
sleeeeeepy look. dreamy eyes.
there's a lot of curved lines here. his eyes are soft.
pupils are ovals
sorry he looks so dead here
don't forget the beauty mark
there are eyelashes because I am me but you don't have to
he has quite a dark lower eyelid...
3. clothing
messy turquoise dress shirt!! remember to show his collarbone and a bit of his manboob 🤤
please don't forget the black vest.
you're on your own for the fur. can't help you there. if I have to suffer, so do you 😇
thankfully, not much jewelry with harrison. (button, brooch, earring)
section 3 - personal application
applying all these tips to my own artstyle
really happy with how this came out!! I was scared because harrison's design has colors I usually don't work with, and the values meshed together a lot while I was working...
still don't know how to draw the fur sorry
final comparison
in my rendition, he looks like a protagonist in a Nintendo 2DS/3DS game. am I wrong? it feels nostalgic.

Happy @podcastgirlsweek to all who celebrate! While I haven't had the time to properly work on fics (and probably won't this week because oops, hurt my hands yesterday) I still wanted to take the time to highlight some favorite podcast girlies along with everyone else!
The prompt for Monday is highlighting podcasts with women in the leading roles, so here's a few of mine (and hopefully, some new ones of yours if you don't know them yet):
Back Again, Back Again: Ilyaas, you absolutely fantastic disaster of a fantasy ace, never stop trying.
Breathing Space: While the show is anthology with a rotating cast, some of my favorites from across its run include:
Evie Yuriskin
Amity Archer
Any characters who were introduced one episode and then started referring to each other as "my wife" by the end or by their next appearance
Camlann: Some apocalypse survivors interpret dangerous dreams about dark magic to cope. Some knit sweaters. Both are valid and should kiss.
City of Ghosts: Featuring the grungy, disgruntled, tormented-by-visions LADY detective of your dreams.
Desperado: Take note - give your ladies knives. And god powers. And witchcraft. And a sniper rifle, for good measure.
Do You Copy?: I think [REDACTED] deserves three weeks of paid vacation
Fawx & Stallion: Madge Stallion is THE moment. She's six feet tall. She can't stop making innuendos. She's not your fucking Mrs. Hudson (although, she is - no, I shan't say).
Hi Nay: Mari & Laura are my everything - the loving and self-sacrificing hero and the newfound friend who chooses to stand by her side (fire axe and all).
Inn Between: Oh, my Inn Between girlies, where do I start? Fina and Betty, the OGs and life partners that even death couldn't stall? Rosie and Zara, the new best pals who chose to stay together? Phoebe, just one step at a time learning what she deserves and what she doesn't? All impeccable, A+.
It Makes A Sound: Any show focused on music is going to be a slam dunk for me, but Deirdre's quest to reclaim her memories as well as those that tied her to her mother is so damn real and compelling.
The Kingmaker Histories: No female character in this show has ever done anything wrong. Colette gets a migraine pass. Ariadne can turn people inside out. Daphne is owed this for working in a theme park.
Life With LEO(h): Janiiiiiine, so messy and smart and dedicated and she cares so much, I love yoooooou.
Me and AU: Kate's worries and desires and doubts are some of the realest out of any audio drama so when do I find an Ella too
Palimpsest: My faaaaavorite gothic horror anthology, each one fresh with a different brand of haunted, tormented, secret-keeping (and quite frequently gay) gothic protagonist
The Pasithea Powder: Jane and Sophie. Sophie and Jane. What more could you need? <3
The Silt Verses: Women who start cults/leave cults/seek an end to the endless cycle of meaningless sacrifice as so valid. For all your wet cat(fish) woman needs.
Second Star to the Left: Because I always love a good Ishani performance. Hi Gwen, please tell Boots I love them.
Small Victories: You want sad wet cat women? How about one that literally can't stop self-sabotaging (but at least manages to draw the line at sabotaging others...occasionally). She even gets stabbed!
Starfall: I mean, kind of a given, but anyway, Leona definitely exists because she's the kind of action protagonist woman I always wanted - one that could be unapologetically powerful, but still full of flaws and desires (especially ones that weren't about falling in love and minimizing her own strengths). She's even autistic!
Stories From Ylelmore: Keryth! Keryth, Keryth, Keryth! She reminds me so much of the kinds of characters I would make up when I was younger - I love her and her small magic so dearly.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris: Hi queer space pirates <3
Unseen: Another anthology show, but Harry Winters and Never-Ending Circles remains one of the most perfect premiere episodes I've ever heard in audio drama.
The Way We Haunt Now: Get your podcast ladies here, dead or alive!
We Fix Space Junk: My favorite type of repairman is a woman who could kick my ass.
Wolf 359: I don't think I need say much more here - y'all know and love 'em just as much as I do.

fanart for a scene in @nerdydowntherabbithole 's Taking Life As Is on AO3 !! a scene early on in the fanfic that sounded so cool it gripped me with inspiration, where a vulture swoops down and gets fucking got by a leviathan while our dear protagonists look on in horror of the beautiful brutality of mother nature happening right in front of them! dont you love it when you leave your rotting corpse behind and immediately get hit with the existential horror of almost dying and the primal fear of seeing something that much bigger than you and realising your fragility when you were once a godlike being above such lowly thoughts and struggles? anyway.
some details and thoughts !! :
-just before this scene, sugar (survivor's name in this fic) hunted and ate a salamander, so i included it in this here drawin too !! hell yeah esoteric fic-accurate details -(pro tip for any artists out there; if you want to push something into the background, gradient overlays are your friend. also, dont forget to check your values. outline your characters if they aren't popping out of the background enough) -in other, not fic-accurate detail,, moon's dress and marks. i think in the fic, moon's dress is more like,, an actual dress with sleeves and such. but also like, i do what i want and i want something thats barely a dress so i can show off my anatomy/mechanical bits art skills. i dont care if its not canon compliant im calling rule of cool -whoops i forgor the wires uhh shit nevermind it would cover the cool bits anyway whatever -also, while i am proud of the vulture and leviathan, they both used reference. like, i sketched them out yeah, but also the sketch was mostly done by staring at a reference the whole time and overlaying it on the canvas as needed when the drawing looked a little too off. so if you look at this and think 'aw man this guys too good at drawing i could never draw a vulture/leviathan/background/whateverthefuck like that' youre wrong. use references and get better at art by referencing references -shoutout to the miraheze wiki btw for supplying most of my references for this. fandom wiki could never
this fic holds a special place in my heart. like, i dont agree with it on a lot of things (how the cycle works, time between slugcat campaigns, how rot works, etc), but its very internally consistent and i like how all the characters are written. i really do like how, despite all the bickering, the iterators really do care for each other and love each other. i like that the blame isn't pushed just to pebbles, the acknowledgement of there being a lot of nuance and complications in the whole situation. i like the worldbuilding, nsh's wetland-esque biome, srs's gleaming glass beaches, the different interesting fauna/flora, slugcat society worldbuilding, the fucking trains hell yes trains.
most of all though, i love the authors dedication to getting a happy ending. no one left behind. all the iterators in the local group are getting freed (except for innocence but thats a different thing) all the slugcats are alive and doing well (even artificer's kids!!). and even though the fic throws the characters around, bad things happen, steps backward are taken,,, there is almost a palatable message that no matter what, things will be okay. artificer did bad and its acknowledged with visible consequences (scavenger temple route, which mightve made things so much easier on the route to nsh) but she still gets her kids back. hunter had her rot cured and even got some sick new upgrades but still struggles with overexertion and moments of weakness. both pebbles and moon have ptsd from the rot and the rain respectively and its handled reasonably well, not even mentioning the survivors guilt and learned helplessness on nsh and the whole,, guilt from causing this whole fiasco and the feeling of it being all their fault from srs,,,, , ,,,
i dont know. i just really like how dedicated the fic is to showing the realistic consequences of the unforgiving and brutal world of rain world and weaving it into a story of forgiveness and freedom. there are struggles but the heroes will still win and get to go home happy. its cathartic. i love it a lot.

TPN Brainrots part 2:
Warning: just like the in the previous part... There will be Manga Spoilers.
Since I was unable to finish part 3 of my comic for Emma's birthday (due to being in a place where bringing a laptop was not advised) I will do my head canons and theories on her.
So today's post is about: Emma
Emma is a protagonist in the wrong genre. That was my first thought when I finished season 1 for the first time. Of course now I know how much more complicated her personality is. Introducing her first from the Trio was a really good choice in my opinion, because her cheerful, hopeful, happy and naive personality makes you believe that everything in all right with their lives. Her point of view up until Connie's death really shows how easy it is to believe in a comfortable lie. (not to forget that in canon they're 11-12)
Emma's appearance explained:
Just like I did with Ray... I have something unique to add to each drawing of her. First let's talk about the Freckles! I'm a big fan of interesting character traits, such us freckles, moles, scars, tooth gaps, vitiligo or anything similar to that. Also the red/orange hair🧡! My second favourite hair color in anime & character history (first is black🖤).
When colouring I like to use vivid colours for her clothes (mostly red or orange to bring out her hair). Maybe that's why, my favourite outfit is what she wore in the Goldy Pond Arc.
In the manga colouring above if you look closely, Emma has faint scars on her knees and elbows. Since she most likely do what her heart says before thinking, I imagine that she didn't mind if she scrapped her knees or bruised her elbow, while playing with her friends and family. Physically active kids often fall while playing but, falling hard then getting up again all by yourself is a good way to symbolise their in journey. (Old drawing of mine😅⬇️)
Leader of the Grace Field Group:
Emma simply had to get into the Leader's role after Norman's shipment. I'm sorry to say that but Ray was a bit useless. He was lost in his own pain and gave up all hope (I mean... valid, but still), so she had to plan everything. Norman's letter and the other kids (Gilda, Don, Thoma, Lanni, etc) helped a lot, but she was practically alone. She couldn't even grieve Norman properly. Don't forget that Emma is smart and an amazing actor. She fooled Isabella thinking she gave up too (not to mention that time she slowed her heartbeat so Mom doesn't know she was lying).
My forever favourite moment (Idk why didn't I mention this in the Brainrots part 1) is Emma slapping some sense into Ray (pun intended😁). Like that setting and that scenery is my Roman Empire. Her catching a burning match just in time, not caring about burning her hand, then convincing Ray to excape with her and the rest of the group (Okay actually... let's be honest... she basically had to drag him out of the House). The first glimpse of what Emma is capable on her own. Nerves of steel for cutting her ear off too (her first big sacrifice just to save the others).
After the Excape, she got a lot of help from Ray who also apologised for his behaviour. The two of them comforting each other after thinking Norman died is just such a heart warming scene. Meeting with Sonju and Mujika was a big turning point for Emma, because of three things;
1: Okay first she was scolded because of her recklessness as well as Ray for trying to play the hero, but that not strongly Mujika or demon related. The world opened up for the whole group. They learnt about the Promise and how the world was divided into two.
2: Emma learned and saw from first hand, that not all demon are evil. Mujika helped them despite their differences and the end of that week Emma thrusted her so much she even showed her the photographs of her family and told her about Norman too.
3: Receiving the neklace and the advice to search for the Seven Wall while they're on their journey.
Arriving to B06-32 and meeting Mister/Yuugo there was a new challenge. All the kids saw another 'Isabella' who tried to kill them. Emma, then Ray were the first ones who saw through his facade.
Goldy Pond Arc was Emma time to shine as a leader and as an individual too. Meeting Lucas and the Goldy Pond squad and immediately connecting to them shows how much she cares about others. Her bonding time with Lucas as they uncover the mysteries surrounding the identity of William Minerva.
Fun fact: In my fanfic I like to age up the Grace Field Trio roughly to Oliver's age, because I think this way their personalities are more dominant and clear.
Emma's relationship with adults:
I like to think that Emma never saw Isabella as a monster (not even after discovering the truth). And as truthful as it is. I think Isabella formed a deeper bond with Emma than with her own son. That's because from the Grace Field Trio, only Emma could have been saved by Mom. With the Mom/Sister Program, Emma would have been able to live on, but it's against her nature to harm anyone. Although I found it interesting that that was the original composition of the manga. Emma becoming a Mom and Gilda becoming a Sister (correct me if I know this wrong). Also this picture under... I found it on Pinterest and it's reflects back to my theory of what might happen to the boys.
Meeting Yuugo and Lucas were a complete different experience for the Grace Field kids. The Bunker Dads were the caring parents both group (Grace Field & Goldy Pond) needed and deserved. Not to mention how Emma reminds me both the young and hopeful Yuugo from the past and the clever and patient Lucas of the present. Spending almost two years on the B06-32 shelter while searching for the Seven Wall makes their last goodbye 1000% more heart breaking.
Back to Grace Field Arc is when Emma meets Isabella again. She gets closer slowly but she doesn't have an emotional barricade as high up as Ray or even Norman. Emma forgave her easier, but that doesn't mean she justified the things Mom did with her family. She simply realised that Isabella had no other choice if she wanted to stay alive.
Making the new Promise and the Human World:
First of all King of Paradise Arc? Realising that Norman is still alive?! Oh the the happy tears when I first read that🖤🤍🧡. (Although to tell the truth Ray slapping Norman as soon as he sees him was such a right choice in my opinion) Emma breaking down in tears and hugging Norman was such an emotional and wholesome scene. But the argument after... let's just say I don't like miscommunication and/or characters keeping important secrets to themselves. (*glances at the GF Trio* "All three of you is in trouble")
Ohh Seven Wall Arc my beloved 🧡🖤. I like every bit of this story but Seven Wall Arc holds a special space in my heart. That Arc still holds so much potential to play around. The demon God's power to manipulate time, space and play around with Emma's and Ray's memories was wild. For the demon God name... I call them Elari. (Yes I stared at that nonsense of a word until it looked like a name). It was such a nice touch that the demon God only wanted to talk to Emma, but I couldn't help but feel a bit bad for Ray, because I think he was worried as hell when he woke up alone without Emma on his side. (I also sometimes think about what kind of Reward he would have received if he stayed with Elari).
The Reward Emma got is... without a question... cruel, and I think it was not needed, but I also can't think about something else what she could have gave to Elari if not her memories.
She deserves happiness and I can't say how much I cried when the Ray and Norman + everyone else found her in the human world. In the end I'm happy that Emma and all of them got a relatively happy ending.
Head canon to Human World and Reward: Emma's necklace!! It holds her memories. They just somehow have to find a way to unlock it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EMMA!!!🧡🧡🧡.
Okay. That's it for Emma. If you have anything else to add, correct or you want to share your own theories just write it in the comments or reblogs. Next post will be the 3rd part of the comic. Then brainstorms on Norman will come.

The Unreliable Narrators of
The Somewhat Incredible Jackie-Boy Man & Void Silver
And their capacity to deceive us in the future.
Dramatic Youtube Thumbnail lol
Major #0 spoilers
Gotta say, I really love when a story comes with a sister story with it, this being the two Altrverse comics. As I personally love having two texts to compare and contrast, as it can really help highlight what they share, what's different, and what's missing.
And wow there is some things in each story that look a lot more suspicious due to their sister text existing.
While Sister Stories do many things, in this case it highlights the unreliable narrators of each text. I hope after this look into these aspect, and if these aspects continue into the next comics, will implore you to keep an eyebrow raise in regards to Marvin and Jackie.
But first, what is an unreliable narrator? At the most basic, an unreliable narrator is a storyteller whose perspective isn't totally reliable if we want to get the full picture. They can be intentional, unintentional, aim to wrongfully mislead or give a happier story. But even unreliable narrators with good intention still can alter the story to its viewers in a way that will lead us to the wrong conclusions.
Now do I think the Volume #0 are unreliable? Not really, but it had the capacity to be, which means in future comics, they may become more and more unreliable.
I will explore how each comic is unreliable by the perspective of each story and what we are shown (or more importantly not shown).
First we'll start with
Perspective: Who is their story being told by?
From the first page of The Somewhat Incredible Jackie-Boy Man, and by the second page of Void Silver, it is already establish that these narratives will be unreliable.
First we have Jackie. Who straight out of the gate acknowledges the viewer.
SO LET'S JUST GET OUT THERE--
And continues to narrate the rest of his story.
Now this probably doesn't seem important at first, don't a lot of comics do that? Spiderman does it! Which TSIJBM draws inspiration from. But remember what I said about Sister Stories? While this doesn't seem strange when by itself, it's strange when you look at VS.
Unlike TSIJBM, who has Jackie address the viewer, we instead have a completely different character, Higgins the Cat, introduce Marvin to us. And boy does Higgins know we're watching.
So while in TSIJBM, Jackie introduces himself to us, in VS, Higgins introduced Marvin to us.
Giving us two different protagonists, Jackie, who knows he's telling a story, and in the role of storyteller, and Marvin, unaware his story is being told and the role of storyteller belongs to Higgins.
This shows that these stories have unreliable narrators.
Shown: What do we get see?
This is also evident in the structure of the comics.
In TSIJBM, the entire story we are following Jackie, as we get his input and thoughts. The only exception being the first couple pages and the final couple panels. This also limits what we see of Jackie. As we only see what he sees/cares about, having an entire page dedicated to his thought process, because he decided that to be of most important than what else is going on around him. His story is heavily skewed by his perspective of things. Which seems to be a theme in TSIJBM, as he mistakes CyberMass' demo to be a Robot Apocalypse. We even have a minor time skip in the comic with a flashback, as we see why JBM was late to an order, but this flashback is used to bring out sympathy. It's why we only see him come out of the dumpster, not into it, it's what is more important to recall to him.
This is oppose to VS, where we don't follow Marvin the entire time, he's not even in his first page. And have an entire section dedicated to the Twins. You could say it's still Marvin's perspective because he learns of what the Twins do, but we don't learn it at the same time as Marvin. We see what happens and he learns afterwards. If we saw him go home, pick up the mask, and then see what the twins did, that would be more accurate to Marvin's experience. But Marvin, while the protagonist of his comic, is not the narrator, which belongs to Higgins. And so we see in the order of how Higgins wants us to see.
Higgins controls the perspective in Marvin's narrative. Jackie controls his own.
This means Jackie has the capacity to deceive the viewer in TSIJBM. Will he? Well we don't know him well enough in this version to know for sure. But we need to know he does have that card at his disposal.
But Higgins has the capacity to decisive the viewer in VS, and a part of me feels like he wouldn't be above that. What is especially interesting though is that it makes Marvin's story appear a lot more authentic, due to his lack of knowledge of his story being told, as we need to worry more of what Higgins shows us of Marvin.
All of this shows how Jackie is the narrator of his story, whilst Higgins is the narrator of Marvin's, both storytellers having the ability to mislead us in the future. We've already touch on a bit about what is shown in each narrative due to their narrators. But Great Sister stories highlight what they don't show.
Shown: Marvin doesn't think
There is almost 0 thought bubbles in VS. I implore you to look yourself. The only thing resembling a thought bubble is Marvin recalling what was mention in the previous pages and the statement that "Everything this masks sees, it records", which doesn't seem to be his own thoughts but just recalling statements said to him.
There are pages in VS, where if Jackie was in the situation, would be scattered with thought bubbles, like the two pages of Jackie moving while he comments on social aspects that dehumanises people. But there is none in VS. This makes sense of course, Higgins is the narrator, not Marvin, why would Higgins know what Marvin is thinking? He at best can show us what he's doing, or doesn't want us to know what Marvin's thinking.
This does highlight that Jackie is his own narrator with the lack of though bubbles in VS, if thought bubbles are a tool only for the storyteller. I mean look at these pages and tell me it wouldn't have thought bubbles if Marvin was the narrator.
If this was in TSIJBM, we would probably see Marvin's thoughts of frustration, not just his face.
This page especially.
We didn't know why Marvin recognised the insignia until later, when Higgins showed us a flashback. Because we don't know Marvin's thoughts.
So while Marvin is more authentic than JBM, he's more secretive, not of his own volition, but because he's not his own narrator.
While they aren't both unreliable narrators, since Marvin isn't his own, they are both unreliable protagonist. One which can alter his own story, the other which has his thoughts concealed.
Similar to how there is a theme for Jackie of his perspective being skewed to what he deems reality is, there is a theme of Marvin just not knowing what's actually happening, having to rely on others to inform him (Sunday, his mask, Ramesses). Marvin is a lot less aware that he's in a story and his role in his own story.
The viewer can only trust what Jackie decided is more important for us, and the viewer has to be informed by Higgins what is important for us. This makes both comics of TSIJBM and VS have unreliable narrators, and that we should be careful at taking everything at face value in the future.
I have no clue if these aspect will continue in #1, perhaps these things only a apply to #0. But is they do continue in the next comics, I hope this has help you approach the next comic with more suspicion.
Thanks for reading. And remember that you can't always trust what is shown.

Since The Art of Murder is gaining so much traction right now, I thought I'd put out a personal tier list of how likely each character is to be the murderer and why I think that's the case. So here we go, from lowest to highest:
Sosuke: This man did nothing wrong. Protect him at all costs!!
Seriously though, I hightly doubt Sosuke is the murderer, despite being the most physically capable of doing so. It's made clear early on that he hates injustice and the death of innocents. Being an anime character, he wears his heart on his sleeve and is appropriately melodramatic when he mourns the death of OC. He just seems like an open and honest man who unfortunately can't communicate with his friends due to the language barrier.
Albie: Albie may not be like other girls- er, I mean, other 2D princesses, and she may have a shrewd mindset, but I also doubt she killed OC either. Despite her (perhaps unintentional) putdown of OC at the beginning by saying he "wasn't even a real character," every other interaction she had with him had her acting more sweet and caring, showing him the ropes and leading him around the room to explore.
She was also the one to suggest helping OC out of the sketchbook on the night of the murder. If she were the murderer, I think she would have been much more careful in how she approached that situation. She also seemed as confused as everyone else as to why Sosuke and Winn were covered in mud and water, respectively. Speaking of...
Winn: I still don't think she's the murderer, but Winn was acting incredibly strange the whole time. Which is to be expected of a cartoon protagonist, but this was a different kind of weird. Winn was the first to actually suggest the idea of murder, and was quick to try and accuse Albie. Then when tensions started to rise, she shifted the blame over to Sosuke by saying he was by far the most suspicous, due to his show being over and him being covered in "mud cake."
However, I still think she's innocent. This is mostly due to her excitement in being around OC, as well as her shedding a tear out of pride when she first learned that Pip had made an original character. From that, even with Winn's worries later in the song, I think we can safely assume that even if Winn is jealous, she's not so jealous as to destroy such an important milestone for Pip.
Giorgio: I'll be honest... I'm kind of on the fence with this one. On the one hand, the "the detective was the culprit all along!" story I feel has been done plenty of times before, but... we're primarily looking at in-universe character moments, and Giorgio has plenty.
Firstly, Giorgio is clearly a bit vain and narcissistic, taking great pride in his "natural beauty" and being the most popular route in his game, "Ace Romance Detective: Crimes of Passion!" He was also the first to deviate from the group when they were showing OC around, fading into the shadows and voicing his own fears of being erased with no one else to hear him. And while Winn was the one to suggest the idea of murder in the first place, Giorgio took that idea and ran a country mile with it while also instantly labeling himself as the only non-suspect, launching into an ominous song while he himself is cast heavily in shadow.
However, I still don't think it's him. Giorgio going down the murder rabbit hole with Winn could just be excitement on his part at finally getting to do some real detective work. And while he is pretty self-centered, he also clearly cares about Pip and the other characters, even OC. This is shown as much when he's taking charge in showing OC around, and securing the idea of investigation by voicing his own concerns that Pip would be crushed if she found out her creation had been destroyed. He's clearly concerned about her welfare in that moment. Which leads us to the final contender...
Pip: You all knew it was coming. Still though, I think it's a bit more nuanced than "artist hates her drawing, so she tore it out," though that already would be a neat twist. The truth may be that it wasn't actually Pip, but other circumstances in the real world that caused OC to be torn from her notebook. Firstly there's her dog Weaboo, but that feels too obvious.
My personal theory is that Pip doesn't have many friends. This is mostly inferred from how she talks to her own drawings, even saying things like "Thanks for being my friends again today." That is not something someone with healthy friendships does. And the expression she makes while saying that exact line makes her look like she's dead inside.
Pip might be routinely bullied at school, and perhaps said bullies are the ones who ruined her sketchbook, spilling water on it to try and ruin her sketches. As for the mud, Pip might have just accidentally dropped the sketchbook in her yard, with Weaboo running over it while running in the mud.
Admittedly, this isn't much in terms of evidence. And if I'm wrong, so be it. I just wanted to share my thoughts with y'all. What do you think?

I really like the analyses you've been posting lately, you've got interesting thoughts and observations about the skrunklies c: No idea if you've already been asked about it, but I was curious about what are some of your thoughts on that poster, and what things from earlier games it resembles? (I only vaguely remember earlier FNAF lore - Also not trying to rush you, of course!)
This poster?
Well, it appears in a Moon-themed segment of Security Breach where we find a bunch of seemingly odd reprogrammed Glamrock endos who are being taught “right from wrong” (I use that term loosely here)…
And what’s interesting about this poster is the striking resemblance it bears to the bed from FNAF 4:
(Looking at the bedside lamp and the bedcover pattern, they do not look dissimilar from one another …)
It’s also interesting how the bed in the poster looks sort of like one of those adjustable hospital beds.
Back when FNAF 4 came out, a lot of people were arguing over whether the events of the FNAF games were in fact all a dream.
Then, some weird evidence in Sister Location pointed to the rooms in the FNAF 4 house where the protagonist of the game is having nightmares being “observatories” which appear on the security monitors in the private room.
At that point, a lot of people began to wonder if the protagonist of FNAF 4 was being experimented on or observed in a dreamlike state.
Then, the FNAF logbook kind of furthered this whole “dream observation” route of thinking.
Now, this being FNAF, the lore can be a little all over the place and probably a lot of things differ from game to game and from book to book. But still, I find it interesting how all this dream experiment-adjacent imagery appears in a Moon-themed area complete with a weird little TV showing an advertisement for moondrop sleepytime candy and a loooot of Moon posters and merch.
What’s extra weird and might just be a funny little cameo is that Security Breach isn’t actually the first FNAF game to feature moondrop sleepytime candy. Before that, we had Help Wanted. So it’s not impossible that Moon has been playing some part in all this before Security Breach (in some capacity at least).
And we know Moon in Somniphobia (I know this is from the book continuity but I find it fascinating) can use your dreams to draw you deeper and deeper into the dream sphere and basically steal your soul.
Now, I’m not saying it’s canon in the games, but with all that in mind, I love the idea that Moon might be used for some kind of dream experiments and potential soul snatching on the side. You could throw that into so many scenarios! Somniphobia style obsession, hypnotism, being torn between the conscious and unconscious, missing children that aren’t dead, missing adults that aren’t dead, an interconnected dream style consciousness that plays out like a video game. The whole idea just has a lot of potential!
#fnaf#moondrop#fnaf daycare attendant#fableasks#fablethoughts#just a lot of thoughts on this#Moon has been given this strong connection with dreams in the books and then he’s put adjacent to dream experiment imagery in game?#very interesting

A looming presence... (A piece of fan art for Episode 11 of the Christmas Comeback Crisis)
Read more for an essay on all the memes and references ;)
So here it is. Finally. Only one month too late: This piece of CCC fan art I've worked on since the episode came out.
Sorry for the delay, but I just started at my new job this week and it's been a little stressful, so I didn't have much time to work on this. But now it's finally here!!! I gotta say, the hardest part by far was the background, lol. I didn't mean for it to escalate that much. At the end I was honestly running out of memes to draw.
I bet we can all agree that episode 11 of the Christmas Comeback Crisis was so worth the wait, right???? My god. Peak entertainment. I still can't believe I'm getting all this awesome lore and music for free, feels kinda criminal.
I'm so invested in this story, it's unreal. I can't wait to see how it will end. I can already tell it's gonna be pretty emotional. (And not to alarm anyone, but I have a slight feeling that the Voice is not gonna make it out of this story arc alive. I mean, after everything he's done, it's safe to say that he kinda deserves it. Of course I really don't want him to die, cause that would mean…….. Woodman would also have to die??? Otherwise the Voice will just keep coming back again and again because Woodman is keeping his memory alive…….. Oh man wait a moment….. I don't even want to think about that. Forget I said anything about this.)
Anyway, let's talk about this piece of art for a moment.
In the foreground, we have our brave protagonists. I really really like how Nozomi turned out, so I decided to make her my new icon from now on. Don't get me wrong, I love my old icon, but it's kinda zoomed out and you can't really make out any details when it's really small. So Nozomi it is. Meta Knights sword was shockingly difficult to draw, especially because I had to figure out how to draw it when he's holding it at an angle like that. Otherwise, drawing him was actually one of the easiest things about this whole thing. His design is really just two circles with some arms and armor. Figuring out how the circle tool in Gimp works has never felt this good. (Kinda crazy I can just draw him like this now, considering how obsessed with him I was when I was about 12-13 years old. Back then you had to download official renders of your favorite characters onto your computer, then print them out and hang them on your walls all around your room. Yeah I've always been like this.) Drawing Santa was really fun too, just his right hand was a little difficult. But that's just because I still can't draw hands in general. Maybe I should practice drawing hands more. (Naaaaaah I'm just kidding, I'll never do that.) Now that I'm looking at him again, he's also longingly staring at President Haltmann in the background. Doomed yaoi fr.
Speaking of the background, let's talk about that next. There's obviously the title-giving "looming presence" the Voice. I had his hands completely in the background at first, but I thought it looked cooler when they were hanging threateningly around Santa's shoulders. (You may ask yourself, 'man these hands look kinda alright for my usual hand drawing standards', and that is because I traced over pictures of my own hands. I love "cheating" at art.) I also gave him his stupid little bow tie and the colored buttons on his suit sleeves. Not only is that kinda my trademark for drawing him at this point, it's also supposed to show, that under all the threats and the evil villain persona, he's just kind of a loser. A real (male equivalent of a) girlfailure. That's why I made sure that half of the things shown in the background are there to make fun of him a little. I love the Voice dearly, but that's just what felt right.
And now let's get to the actual main course of this essay. I probably spent half the time working on this on the freaking background. I'm just gonna start in the top left corner and then go down each column and explain what each of these mean or what they reference. (Since there are some quite obscure ones in there.)
Let's start with the two ponies in the very top left. They're actually ponysonas of Nozomi Tojo (left) and Takane Shijou (right). Nozomi is an earth pony and has a tarot card as her cutie mark, specifically the ace of cups. Takane on the other hand is a unicorn and has some musical notes as her cutie mark, which you can't really see. I don't know enough about the Idolmaster to think of something more meaningful for her, sorry. ;)
Under that are Susie Haltmann and her father, President Haltmann. They were (after Woodman) the first characters I wanted to draw into the background. Susie has this black bar covering her face, since she was never really there to begin with. The whole story line with her father wanting to bring her back was actually so freaking sad. And when the Voice killed him in episode 11 and that image of Susie flashed on screen as the last thing he saw before he died….. Oof……… That's also why I drew that cursor looming next to her "window" about to click on the closing button. Haltmann himself is also the only character in the background to actually leave his little window, wanting to reach his daughter. He's also glaring at the Voice for causing him all of this grief and anger in the first place with his false promises.
Then there's…. ahem, "Hot robots in your area". With drawings of a random unnamed robot and Mettaton from Undertale. Which the Voice has apparently bookmarked. This is just a head canon, but I like to think he has a thing for robots, lol. ;)
Oh and on the left next to that on the very first column is Simpleflips' logo. Shoutouts to Simpleflips indeed.
Onto the next column. At the very top is Haruka Amami (also from the Idolmaster), who played a pretty huge role in the CCC, especially in the latest episode. That moment at the very end where she saved Grand Dad from certain death was just fantastic. Absolutely goated scene. She's kinda pressing her face against the window she's trapped in. I hope you can even see that from far away, haha.
Under that is one of the more obscure references. It's from a King for Another Day video, specifically one titled "The Hobart Hootenanny - SiIvaGunner: King for Another Day". It's a slideshow made of beautiful Hobart pictures. One that struck me personally the most was a little family picture of Hobart and the rapper Eminem, who was also a contestant in the KfAD tournament, looking lovingly over their son sitting in a cradle. Eminem is seen saying "Our son is beutiful". A truly touching photograph indeed. In that same slideshow is also another scene of Hobart together with the Voice, but we'll talk about that one later.
The next one is a reference to the CCC side story "I wanna thank me" and shows a pie chart with the election results that were discussed in that episode. Under the pie chart itself is a little box containing all the different parties and showing their respective percentages. On the left is a poster for the "Poké Poké Literature Party", showing Monika's head with the words "Just vote Monika" at the top of the poster. The words (and Misha.) are scribbled on the bottom, lest we forget that she's not running this party alone. This side story was first featured in the Christmas Comeback Crisis Watchalong in 2020, which was actually the first time I watched the CCC in its entirety. It all went downhill from there. ;)
Then there's the Voice's… thing? Object? Weird apparatus where no one really knows what it does or what its purpose is? Every time we see the Voice sitting in his office, this thing is sitting on his desk right next to him. There's been loads of jokes about its purpose. They've all been made before. I'm not going to repeat them. Only the Voice himself truly knows what this thing does. Probably. Could just be a decorative piece of art.
Then we have something veeeery self indulgent on the next column. It's Aquaman from Megaman 8 (With a not so subtle skull right next to him). You should all know by now that I'm the founding father of the Aquawood ship. And I also have the head canon that Woodman and the Voice are very divorced. Interpret into this whatever you want.
Next to Aquaman is the internets' favorite panel from the web comic Tails Gets Trolled. I fucking love that comic. If you haven't read it in its entirety, I highly recommend doing it. (Though be warned that it contains some pretty heavy topics, many many slurs and a plethora of gore.) Okay, maybe I don't recommend reading it. (Just read it with all of that in mind.)
Under that is a personal favorite joke of mine. It's supposed to be Spotify, with a playlist open that I created some time ago. I called it "Die Pizza Playlist" (Remember that die in German is just "the") which I always listen to when I'm baking my own pizza. Highlights include "Pizza" by Antilopen Gang, "Pizza Heroes" by Lemon Demon (You can actually see the album art for Spirit Phone on the left of the playlist.), "Pizza Pizza Pizza" from the Ratatouille musical and so on and so on. The first song in the playlist is obviously "We like pizza" by the Pizza kids, which is even playing in the image. On the side are two more music artists, at the bottom is the image for the Veggie Tales soundtrack, which also featured a song called "Pizza Angel". And over that is Mitski. I just feel like the Voice would listen to her music. Do not question me on this.
The audience laughs at the funny 7.
On the Voice's left shoulder sits a single green bean. It's flashing you a cheeky grin and a peace sign. While I didn't intend for this to happen, I accidentally referenced my own Woodman birthday gallery art from two years ago, where the bean also sits atop the Voice's shoulder. I know that next to "Yankin'", the bean is one of the most hated memes on SiIva, but I think he's just a silly little guy! :D
Let's head on over to the next column. Seems like the Voice has an incoming call from one of his guards, but he's ignoring it as he has more important things to do, like hovering intimidatingly over Santa Claus.
Next to that window on the right are the Voice's messages. I almost wrote "messanges". That would have been embarrassing, thank god I caught that in time. This is also (yet again) a little self indulgent, since the Voice apparently has the last message he sent Woodman pinned to the very top of his messenger app. His big triangular head is blocking most of it, but since I'm the artist, I can tell you exactly what it says: "Please call me back", which was sent on February 1st 2023, the day "The Disappearance of Woodman" was released. Yeah, I'm still very upset, how could you tell? :( Under that is a message to his trusty pizza guy asking for a pizza with extra cheese.
Next we have two of my favorite memes on the SiIvagunner channel (My absolute favorite being "Funny budots", since I never wrote that down anywhere.), one being Frisk Undertale becoming uncanny and the other one being the goat. I don't really know how to describe the goat, but apparently it was crafted by the same artist who made the stoned fox that's also very popular online?? I may just be stupid, but I didn't know about that until I looked up a reference for the goat. Since it often appears alongside Undertale and Deltarune, many have made the assumption that this is what Asriel would look like in real life. That's why Flowey is there next to it with an equal sign. Whoever drew up that calculation wasn't really sure of their work, which is why they drew a question mark right next to it. Between Frisk and the goat is a little Soul, also from Undertale/Deltarune.
Onto the next column, where I'm dropping very subtle hints that a specific character in this image might like pizza. Or might even be a little obsessed with it. On the left is a list with the contact details of three well known pizza chains, on the very top is Sonic the Hedgehog who just recently became a brand ambassador for Totino's and on the bottom right of this section is a flyer for some kind of pizza sale.
The next window contains my favorite joke of any rip on the entire SiIvaGunner Youtube Channel. "Peepoona 5. Let us shart the pants." Just typing this out is making me die of laughter yet again. (The rip in question is "Our Beginning - Persona 5".) But as you all know, I am very into toilet humor. That's why Aquaman is one of my favorite robot masters. And why I'm such a big fan of Youtube Poop. And why I watch Minion fart gun religiously. But enough of that, you get what I'm trying to say. I love funny poop jokes. That's why this is here.
Oh man. This next one is why I wanted to write this very detailed essay in the first place. A reference so obscure, even I can't find its origin anymore. And believe me, I tried. Thankfully, I took a screenshot of the original comment thread this was based on. A user called "The New Guy" commented on a SiIvaGunner rip, something along the lines about how much they enjoyed this specific rip. At the time, the comment had 920 likes, so I'm guessing it must have been a pretty popular video. (The comment should also be about 4 years old now?) Anyway, under that comment, someone asks them what their profile picture was from. They simply answered "wagon", since that was exactly what their profile picture showed. Someone on the SiIvaGunner team must have found this exchange so funny that they commented "wagon" as well. And that's the origin of this joke. If anyone knows which rip this is from pleeeeaaaase tell me. I need to know.
I don't think I need to explain who the next guy is. Just the love of my life. I specifically drew Woodman in his getup from the Nuclear Winter Festival, since that was the last time he appeared on the channel. He's looking kinda concerned in the general direction of the viewer, for obvious reasons. And right under him is his trademarked >:] emoji.
And last but certainly not least, the final column! Now I finally get to talk about this other scene from the Hobart Hootenanny. It shows Hobart and the Voice having a romantic stroll at a beautiful beach, while the sun is slowly setting in the background, making the water shimmer with its breathtaking colors. Okay, the last thing didn't really happen, since it's a shitty MS Paint drawing, but I like to imagine it did. Maybe I should draw a remake of this image one day. Now I'd like to quote the video in question: "A man and Hobart were walking together on the beach. He looked back and saw that in his times of sadness and need, there was only one set of footprints. He asked Hobart why he would leave him in his time of most need. Hobart simply turned to the man and said, VVVVVRRRRR SRRRRR RRRRGGGHHHH--" (Thank you SiIva Wiki for the transcription.) Now I don't think I need to explain why I drew Hobart in a bikini top and fishnets. The question answers itself.
The next image is actually quite easy to explain. It's mm5charge and smol Maki. In another universe, Chargeman and Maki might have been integral to the SiIvaGunner lore. This specific image is just stolen from my piece of fan art called "Megaman 5 Brainrot (featuring Acidman)", which I posted in 2022. I still head canon that Megaman and Love Live take place in the same universe. Just because I think it's funny. And because I want to see funny robot masters interact with the girlies from Love Live. How do I explain this? It's like…. balancing out the world? The robot masters are almost all male (with a few exceptions) and the characters shown in Love Live are all female. How would Thanos say? "Perfectly balanced, as all things should be." Don't question my cool head canons, okay?
After that we have a poster featuring the Jazz Cats! I really really love the little animations that showed their backstory when KfAD2 first came out. I don't know if it's okay for me to say this, but I also really really enjoy the song "But Not You" written (in universe) by Doge and Naxx. The text is veeeeeeery questionable, but man, does it sound good regardless… And shoutouts to wolfman1405 for the heavenly vocals.
On the right of that is a missing poster for Wade L.D.. Nothing much to explain here I guess.
Left of that is the Voices shopping list, which lists flour, oil, yeast… Wait a minute…. All of these are ingredients for pizza dough! Guys, I'm beginning to think that this guy might like pizza.
On the very bottom of this column is Mario 7 Grand Dad himself, who has his hostile gaze directed at the Voice. I would be pissed off too if someone kept me locked in a glass tube for 7 years.
The last little window just shows the Vineshroom with the words "fecal funny" written under it.
And with that, it is done. The entire background thoroughly explained. (I may have gone a little overboard this time.)
It's been a while since I posted new art, huh? In the meantime, a lot has happened. As I said before, I started a new job, got a tattoo of Woodman on my leg (best idea I've ever had btw) and I also started watching MLP, which explains the Love Live / Idolmaster ponysonas, lol.
And that's all I wanted to say. I hope that the next piece of art isn't that far off. Jenny out. (I think this might have been the longest essay I've ever written here. I'm so sorry. By which I mean, I'm not sorry at all. I'm not forcing anyone to read this.)

Started watching Mob Psycho 100. About 5 episodes in and yeah, I get why this show is so popular. It's good, even real good, so far. Mob is a good protagonist and the animation has been really impressive.
I also recently started reading One Punch Man and it's fine. I like the art and every now and again it gives me a chuckle. But ultimately I think OPM has a fairly conservative world view that makes me hard to enjoy it as anything more than easy fluff. It's all about the power of the individual and has some really questionable class politics in places. I know it's not intended for a deep read, but I can't help it. I'm glad I'm reading it through the library instead of buying individual volumes. I think I'm like 21 volumes into it.
Back to MP100, I'm still early so I can't say for sure yet, but I feel like it is the better written and realized of the two. I'm a sucker for the monster-of-the-week style format and so far it has been nailing while also developing the characters pretty well.
I gotta say, I'm impressed. I'm usually pretty cautious around checking out popular things since I tend to not enjoy them. So far that's not the case here.
First, I'm glad that your library has a lot of the OPM volumes: it's great for the series and a very wise way to read. If I didn't have my library cards, I'd be perma-broke and out of space in my home. :D
Second, I hope by now that you've finished reading Mob Psycho 100. I think it's a fantastic work and while there's a part of me that hankers for ONE to find something more he wants to say in that world and tell another story, a bigger part of me really respects that he's known how to tell 'a big story of a small step' and end there. It is one of the best coming-of-age stories I've read or watched. If you haven't checked out the anime, DO! It is incredibly well-realised, imaginative, and every season builds better on the previous.
Yes, now that you mention it, One-Punch Man does feel more conservative than Mob Psycho 100 in *some* ways. Whereas the latter is about middle schoolers exploring how to shape themselves, OPM is about the challenge of having a sense of purpose as an adult and balancing act of being an individual and being part of society. And no one quite knows what they're doing...
The various kids in MP100 may have challenges as small as getting someone to sign up for a school club or as big as stopping a would-be megalomaniac from taking over Japan, but they're free to focus on those problems. Their parents keep a roof over their heads, cook dinner, draw up budgets, pay bills, and prompt them to do homework. Their schools give them a ready-made social context in which to interact repeatedly and shape their goals. They're free to be children and it's precious.
OPM, almost everyone is an adult, and adult life is both less and more structured than that of childhood. There's a lot more to balance, you don't have infinite energy, time, or resources, and if you get it wrong, life gets super hard. We get Saitama: he's become the strongest man in the world thanks to his singular focus on being so strong that he can send any enemy flying with a single punch -- and he's also homeless (he's squatting in an abandoned apartment), with no post-secondary qualifications, no steady job (he's held lots of menial jobs, keeping them only long enough to quit and live off them so he can be a hero). The idealism of being a hero may get you thanked, but thanks don't pay the rent: that's why the Hero Association came to exist, in order to enable people motivated to be heroes to actually focus on it. It'd be a short story if Genos hadn't introduced Saitama to the HA.
Those checks and compromises necessary to survive and thrive in society do give OPM a more conservative feel. However, on the other side, there's no one telling you how far you can go. Difficult as it is, there's more scope for self-actualisation for the characters in OPM than there is for those in MP100. And there's no one way to do it. Swings and roundabouts.
Not sure how OPM will end yet, but so far, I'm still finding it compelling.
Given how long this has been in my inbox, I have no idea if you will read this. If you do (and I hope you do), thank you. Thank you for an awesome ask.
#One Punch Man#Mob Psycho 100#asks#two great works looking at challenges of different life stages#a vital part of being a teenager is exploring who you want to become#part of being an adult is making peace with the world around you#also part of being one is working out how to be true to yourself and push to do things that actualise you#there's no perfect state: only a balancing act#better late than never

Sending this again just in case the question I sent got eaten
I kinda find it sorta wrong that the fandom at larges idea of a happy ending for the lamb ( or as happy as it can be bc of the circumstances ) always involves Narilamb and redeeming the Bishops/letting the Bishops stay in the cult
Ik the lamb is like essentially a blank slate but it feels kinda gross that the fandom kinda makes them not have much agency of their own outside of Narinder/Narilamb
Idk if I’m explaining it well but like I wish there were more “ happy” endings for the lamb ( or as happy as it can be ) and that doesn’t involve Narilamb, Redeeming Nari and/or Redeeming the Bishops
I did get the previous message, no worries! I was at the library today bc I am always expanding my mind (drawing also I work there so I was visiting on my day off) so I haven’t cracked tumblr open today since this morning.
Getting into this is actually a bit of a deep hole to travel down and we need to talk about why Narilamb and mainstream fanon is as popular as it is in this fandom. Allow me to answer this in the most long-winded way possible, in list form:
1) The Formula Works
I feel like people conflate “video game protagonist that is designed for the player to inhabit” with “vehicle for me, my interpretations, and my fantasies only”. It’s always a useless debate to “”decide”” anything about this kind of video game protagonist but we seem to fall into this argument alllll the time.
However. A character has its own functions, it’s own design purposes, and it’s own reasons for existing the way it does, regardless of how easily we can project onto them. A lot of them have an implied agency that allows us to relate to them.
Link from Legend of Zelda is a great example- they’re designed to be the perfect audience stand-in with an ambiguous gender expression and age and rarely any dialogue. However we still assume that each iteration of Link has a different personality and has different relationships with others. Link makes choices that we don’t really control and we generally assume that Link is motivated to do good. Because of that, there are certain things we have a hard time imagining Link doing (for example, running around screaming slurs and pissing in the faces of every Hyrulian villager they meet) even if you, the player, act like a jackass in the game.
Lamb doesn’t have alot of this implied agency- which isn’t a problem, mind- we just never see them make a lot of their own choices. The Lamb is also not strictly a hero that we assume is motivated to do good. Players decide how comfortable they are with punishing, killing, or cannibalizing others. That makes it easier to assume the Lamb’s motivations as one likes.
This is a great idea for a video game’s player character, as history generally shows that enabling audiences to fantasize about your art makes it way more popular for a very low cost on your end. Take hogwarts houses for example (or don’t, I hate JKR too), or vampire clans with similar powers and guiding principles, or even schools of magic that reflect a spell-caster’s personality. People like to take part in a world and a blank, almost motivation-less character lets people take the wheel on what kind of person they want to be. Not to mention it’s fertile ground for shipping (whose to say the Lamb wouldn’t date Midas if I just decide that it makes sense?)
2) It’s lame but it’s easy
Narilamb is a natural combination when you think of it this way. Neither one has a lot of implied agency and they’re arguably the two most important characters in the game. Narinder has a lot more implied agency but what exactly did Narinder do with his time before he got imprisoned? What does he like? What would he want to do with his life as a mortal? No one can say for sure so fans are free to imagine.
The two of them result in a boringly blank but easy to edit combination of the two “main” characters. It’s obvious but their dynamic can look like anything- which is appealing to people who want to consume romance but don’t like what mainstream media has to offer for one reason or another. (Aka, the majority of users on here).
You can see this evidenced by the regurgitation of popular romance tropes in Narilamb. The brooding loner asshole turned gentle lover by the love of another. The ever-patient lover who knows, by some divine providence, that they can turn the asshole into putty with the right moves. Sprinkle in a bit of Tumblr’s favorite hits:
the “chaotic” hero (lovable and fun but unconventional and even violent)
the “straight man” (the one who can react to the chaotic hero’s antics with shock or annoyance)
the “enemies” to lovers (why they’re enemies and how serious this rivalry is almost irrelevant)
the blasphemous divine (religiously traumatized enough to be hip with the kids but not so renegade as to actually say anything of substance about that. Just enough to inspire bad poems about pomegranates and honey and things like that)
Mix it all together and you have the ideal, white bread flavored Tumblr-approved romance!
3) “Fix-it Fic” Logic
Back to your actual point: the ending thing.
People like the idea of this ending bc it’s fluffy, uncomplicated, but still allows them to edit small details. Tumblr fandom has a generally difficult time accepting unhappy endings, ambiguous endings, or even just endings more complicated than “everything turned out just fine for absolutely everyone”. It’s a comforting fantasy and this tradition of ours arises out a long history with dissatisfaction.
If you’ll allow me to editorialize, I think we as a community are used to being in conflict with the source material. It wasn’t that long ago that we were the butt of all the jokes when it came to fan culture. When things didn’t work out for our favorite pairings it was more than just disappointing, sometimes it was a personal attack from the creators. And this isn’t me pulling red string out, this is documented fact.
Once Sherlock BBC and Supernatural and Hannibal and Merlin and [insert whatever else] all turned out to be a flaming let-downs for the girls and gays I think we started to associate the idea of “bad endings” with the idea of “punishment”.
We started to turn to each other and say “Sad things only happen to characters we love because they don’t want us to be happy. What’s more, we can fix it. They don’t get to ruin our ending.”
This was a fine enough response to the endings that genuinely were bullshit but I fear that it’s all we do now. Things that are meant to be read as tragedies or relationships that aren’t supposed to work out aren’t being given the room to be interpreted the way they’d like to be. Take things like the Hunger Games, the Magnus Archives, Hannibal (the series), and… *checks notes*… retellings of tragic Greek myth? Apparently?
It’s become kind of heretical to point out the fact that these ending are- and are supposed to be- upsetting and disturbing.
🚨‼️THAT IS NOT TO SAY…
That writing a new, happy ending is wrong. Rewriting an ending or writing your own ending is a valuable way of engaging with art! While we should respect tragedies and sad endings for what they are that doesn’t exclude us from writing our own versions of events either.
It’s just that I don’t really see a lot of people making the effort to hold these two ideas in their head at the same time.
4) In conclusion:
I think the fandom would like to forget that there is no “happy” ending for the Lamb. There is no “fixing it”. The other sheep are all dead and will never come back and it’s Narinder and the Bishops’ collective fault. Constructing a “happy ending” for these characters lets us feel that these uncomfortable things can be forgiven and that everything will work out somehow.
Perhaps pairing up Narinder and the Lamb makes all of those things even easier to forget.
TL;DR:
You’ll probably hear alot of naysayers and detractors complaining that we’re ruining all the fun and not letting them make silly content and happy endings about their blorbos in love. My argument is that I am just stating what the text has already told me and I think that we can make silly content and accept uncomfortable themes in our media. Or that we can have a complicated, but hopeful ending if we find that more compelling.

ROUND ONE
ROCK LEE vs HYUUGA HINATA
Sasuke had to copy Lee's moves with his Sharingan to succeed during Chuunin exams
cute as a button. Come on.
his fans are dedicated and make amazing work, fanart and fanfic
He wasn't special and neither was [submitter], but we didn't need to be. We can make ourselves great. If no one else got me, Rock Lee's got me
he’s one of the first non-jutsu using ninja so make such a big impact
was the first person to actually harm Gaara
played a huge part in Gaara becoming a better person
he’s one of the only people that can catch up to Sasuke and easily rivals Naruto in Taijutsu
his kind, determined and cheerful attitude is a joy to watch
Rock Lee removing his weights is easily one of the most iconic moments in the entire anime
has helped several submitters feel better by simply thinking about how he wouldn't want them to think like that
objectively would've made a better protagonist based on the themes alone
KICKS MAJOR ASS
wrecked Sasukes shit, I like Sasuke but that was really funny
he looks like a frog. Who doesn't like frogs
inspired Sasuke
fights are always entertaining, they're very well choreographed
he forgave Gaara for nearly killing him and nearly ending his dreams; he was never even mad at him
Rock Lee vs Sasuke was iconic
his heart is so full of love
never did anything wrong
had a squirrel befriend him
hard worker
good friend
rises to any challenge
when he does diss people they are the most brutal yet entertaining disses you ever hear
positive, weirdo, energetic, enthusiastic, joyful, chivalrous, motivated, dedicated, sweet
Lee and Neji had something homosexual going on
YOUTH !!!!
Hinata
contrasts with Naruto in personality, but still goes through similar struggles with self esteem and bullying, and comes out with a similar outlook on life
relatable in the sense of being socially awkward, self conscious and having a strict father
can hold her own

I'm really sorry, I should shut up about this subject because I say too much over and over but, I end up thinking a lot about it because it's left unclear. If things weren't as confusing, I'd just have happily set down to draw fanarts as I usually do, I never knew I could do this about a character. I really, really didn't think I'd have to dissect a character like this as much ever (I really want to show my analysis to aka-san and ask him, am I wrong??;; am I taking things the way you thought or is this all just in my head?) I guess you learn something new about yourself every year! At least..hm, I saw the really good sides in someone's nature. So, I feel like it can be a good thing.
I'm so dumb... I feel like I never get tired but maybe I will if the story does fail me heheh. I feel I've been able to write these because I feel there's still hope.
Like I say, I feel like I know the ultimate direction of where all this may head. I just can't predict all the details in between so that's what makes me so nervous. That's all.
Well, I jotted down my thoughts again-
This one's machine-translated!:
Analyzing Kamiki's Character (I Keep Analyzing His Mind) - This character really couldn't have gone mad like this on his own. Seriously. What is this guy even doing?
This character is truly a subject of study. It’s so fascinating that I keep watching him.
His role is somewhat crucial(since he's the main target of the protagonist's revenge, right?), yet the perspective on him remains strangely obscure. When it comes to understanding a character's personality, their own thoughts or monologues are crucial, but even those are scarce here. There’s one shocking line that makes him seem truly insane and out of his mind, and… most of his thoughts center around Ai. I believe his feelings for Ai are sincere, but since he hasn’t been properly portrayed in the anime, the author has twisted things a bit. I feel like the creators intentionally left out certain information to maintain suspense during the anime airs—if everything about a character is revealed before their appearance, it ruins the intrigue. He was presented almost like a complete villain at first, didn't he? That whole scene with Yura I mean. So, at least while the show was airing, they seemed to have controlled things so that nothing new would be revealed and to build anticipation.
The storytelling is so unfriendly. Based on what’s been shown, it's hard to tell if this character is just a psychopath beyond redemption who hired someone to kill Ai, and somehow still can't forgive anyone who surpasses Ai, and turns into a serial killer—so much of a threat that Aqua's determination to kill him makes sense—or if he’s someone Ai loved enough to risk everything to protecti, that she found was truly worth loving, born with a kind and gentle nature that got twisted due to some external influence, making him another victim of the entertainment industry's darkness who deserves eventual redemption.
It's difficult to say for sure, but if I had to choose, my interpretations on him would lean toward the latter. I've been looking at him with that kind of light.
What confuses me is how the story reveals so little about this character. Why don’t they show more?
If they would just reveal more, I could understand him properly. It's like… even when he’s drowning to his demise, there’s nothing clear to grasp onto.
He’s a truly puzzling character.
Regardless of how you interpret him, the storytelling leaves a lot of unresolved tension. Up until a certain point, the story leads you to think of him as the former—just a villain—only for it to suddenly reveal moments where you think, “Wait, Ai really loved this guy sincerely? He actually loved her too?”—and you start to question your assumptions.
Considering the overall message of the story, the latter interpretation seems to make more sense direction-wise.
What strikes me as strange is that after this, I tried to gather all the scattered pieces of information about this character and put them together to form a clearer picture. For me, having that foundation is necessary before I can talk about him or even draw something.
And the conclusion I reached is this:
"This character was truly, inherently, a very, very good person, and Ai made a great choice with him as a partner."
I didn’t expect to reach this conclusion, so I was surprised at first, but I went with it, even while feeling a bit uneasy, and I ended up drawing a lot based on that. It was fun. At least, back in his younger days and when he was with Ai, it seems he had that personality. For Ai’s sake, that’s a relief. But by all means, if Ai fell in love with someone who turned out to be this kind of lunatic, what meaningful story can be told from that? I think it’d be more harm than good.
He truly was a kind person… and if that’s true, it could also make for a compelling story, one that shows how the darkness of the entertainment industry drove such a person to madness. But will they explore that properly?
I’m convinced. A person this kind and gentle couldn’t possibly go mad like this on their own.
It could be that he was so excessively pure and naive when he was young that he could be easily influenced.
That's why I think something must have driven him mad. And if that's the case, they should delve into that.
Under normal circumstances, it’s impossible for him to change this much. It’s difficult to speak confidently about a fictional character, especially when there’s so little revealed about them, but this is the only explanation that makes sense to me. He wasn’t just ordinarily kind. He was… truly saintly.
That’s the impression I got, so I’ve been drawing him with that interpretation, and it turned out to be right, didn’t it? He was like that originally.
Then he would never end up like this. Not typically.
So as I watch, it’s all so fascinating, puzzling, and strange. How did it come to this? Honestly, they should show us more. I want to analyze his mind, but there are so few clear pieces that I’m itching to dissect it.
I’m curious how someone so kind could change like this. It feels like something must have artificially altered his personality—something major must have happened. It doesn’t feel natural.
I’m curious, even if it’s just to understand it better.
The reason he's so hard to understand isn't really anything else—it's just that they keep hiding and not showing us anything. It’s hard to know because it’s hidden, but if they would just reveal it, I think I could understand him right away.
And I’m… sure that this is the kind of character I enjoy dealing with. I really love thinking about and drawing characters like this, so even though I only have a vague outline, I took the plunge with some courage.
But looking at his current situation, I find it hard to be hopeful, haha.
But you know what? Like I keep saying, if he’s someone Ai cherished and fell in love with that deeply, then he must be the gentlest person in the world.
If he’s like a manifestation of Sarutahiko, then he’s a good fit. I’d make him Ai’s husband if I were the author.
If he’s just a crazy person, there’s no point, right?
And like I said before, if he was genuinely in love with Ai, he would have done anything for her—given up his liver, his gallbladder, even his heart if he could. He would have loved her that much.
In fact, that’s exactly what Kamiki is doing now too. He’s just completely corrupted and has lost his mind.
:) I’m probably right. Ai really did meet the one person who could love her more than anyone else in the world.
Enough to throw everything away, even his noble heart and sanity.
But if he killed a lot of people after that, then… that’s still pretty messed up. If that’s the case, then what’s the point of this story? How can you save a guy like that?
So I hope they reveal more about him. What happened to him… if he can be redeemed (based on the story elements, he should be redeemed).
#oshi no ko#hikaai#hikaru kamiki#oshi no theories#ai.. what kind if person did you love...#how do you feel about him right now...#oshi no ko spoilers#spoilers#I feel she'd be really concerned and upset and worried. her man is so broken#he WASN'T LIKE THAT!! !!WARNING: SPOILERS FOR MHA SEASON 7 EPISODE 2, READ AHEAD AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
The season 7 opening it such fire animation. I just- agh. And don't even get me started on the lighting- Every time I think 'The opening animation can't get any better than this' I go watch the next season and am proven WILDLY WRONG. AND I'M NOT MAD ABOUT IT.
I just want to draw to attention how Star decided to save her squad. Using New Order to make sure they wouldn't succumb to decay, when she could've saved herself. Small detail, but I feel like that truly spoke volumes about her character. Also, "I can't stop falling apart" was so terrified (fair). And it really makes you think about how awful it would be. To slowly feel yourself falling apart and dying.
Star is has became a favorite character of mine. And she's dying. Of course she is, because why wouldn't she.
This man bursts through your wall and says "Cmere" What'chu doin'? Cuz I'm running. I'm joking because I'm 100% not on the verge of tears rn because of Star.
I love this little thrush in the ending credits. It's so cute. And I know I already talked about animation a bit, but the end op is so good too. And I'm not even mentioning the fight scenes. But I love the choice of having the older versions of the kids walk past/see/meet their younger selves.
I also just wanna say I don't like how there's only one of them in this scene. And it's Katsuki, because Izuku has scars on his hands. Where's Izuku? That's making me nervous every time I see it, because some shows DO kill off their protagonists, especially in the end, AND NOW I'M WORRIED. He does show up in another scene in the ending, so maybe it's fine, but still. Have a good day :>
