âVaella. Come sit with me dear girl. My mother opened her arms waving me over to the window that she sat near in her rocking chair. Normally my brother Viserys was in the room with her but a lady in waiting had put him down for a nap with a guard outside his room.
Rounding my way past her bed I sat down in the chair across from her, recalling the gown she wore was a simple gray one with her long hair flowing down her shoulders. âI wish father would allow you to move about the castle or at the very least not have a guard posted at your door.â
âI'm afraid I wished many things throughout my life. But I don't regret being a mother to you and your brothers.â She admitted to me resting a hand on her stomach.
Letting my curiosity get the better of me I ignored the presence of the guards on the other side of the door. âWhatâs one of the things youâd wish youâd done?â
âThere was this one knight that I loved very deeply. His name was Bonifer Hasty from the Stormlands. But he was poor and wasnât acceptable for a princess like me. And it wasnât like your father and I had any choice of saying no to our arrangement.â
Putting my hands in my lap I sighed praying the same wouldnât happen to me. âHopefully that wonât happen for me.â Running my fingers through my hair I bite my lip gazing towards the window.
âI know that look. Whoâs the man you want to sleep with?â
I gasped feeling my face turning bright red. âMother!â
âItâs the same look I had. So whoâs the lucky man to charm you, dear daughter?â My mother Rhaella sent me a look waiting for an answer.
I giggled leaning forward and she leaned closer, sensing I didnât want the guards outside to hear what I was about to tell her. âItâs a knight in fathers Kingsguard. I - I hadnât realized it until very recently when he confronted Ser Darry when he brought me to be with you. How he stood up to him worried about me and not about what could happen to him.â
âAnd what is this knight's name?â She asked me.
I smiled brightly at her. âJaime Lannister.â
âOh I see. His mother was a dear friend to me. Have you told him how you feel yet?â
I cut myself short from answering her question scrambling to my feet and out of her chambers in search of him. My mothers rare laughter could be heard behind me before I had exited her chambers. That was one of the only times I had seen her so happy ever in my whole life. âIt couldnât happen mother. He wonât forsake his vows for me. Why should I tell him when - oh my gosh I know why I need to tell him. Itâs because I love him - Jaime!â
âVaella?â I watched Jaime enter my room at the tavern while I kept my body hidden in the corner giving the power to slam the door and announce my presence, making him nearly jump up in the air. âYou scared the living shit out of me.â
âWhat were you thinking when you attacked Ned Stark in the streets a few weeks ago hmm?â Was the first thing that came out of my mouth rather than greeting him with a smile or a hug like I normally do.
He sent me a confused expression. âWhat are you talking about? How do you even know about it?â
âI saw you. I had to give out alcohol seller the money and when I was on my way back I watched your confrontation.â I slowly stride up to him, hands clenched into fists at my sides. âIssi ao trying naejot rhaenagon nykeÄ vÄŤlÄŤbÄzma naejot jiĹragon aĹha lÄkia arlÄŤ.â - ( Are you trying to start a war to get your brother back )
âWhat did you say?â Jaime knitted his brows.
I snarled towards him, feeling tears welling in my eyes. âSeven hells I wish you spoke Valyrian to know when I am cursing you out! I miss my brothers, damn it. I miss Rhaegar and Viserys. And now I struggle to watch you everyday spend time with Tyrion, even though I adore your brother It still hurts me.â
âVaella-â. Jaime trailed off with a sympathetic tone.
Throwing my hands up into my hair I began pacing trying to not start bawling my eyes out thinking about all I had lost. âThereâs nothing I can do. I was a prisoner in my own house but this was worse than that life ever was. Because now I'm alone. My parents are dead, my brothers, my unborn sister are all gone. I'm all alone now!â
âNo you're not alone.â
I sniffed through tears looking back at him. âYou're right - I have you. You told me you're not going anywhere.â
âThat isnât entirely true for long, I'm afraid.â
Eyeing him I nervously ask. âWhatâs going on, Jaime?â
âMany bad things I'm afraidâŚâ He slumped down on the bed waiting before he began explaining. âRobert is dead and Joffrey sits on his throne now. Ned Starkâs eldest son has declared war for Joffrey putting his father in a prison cell. And because I'm in the Kingsguard I have to go fight against the Starkâs.â
âI don't want you to leave.â My voice broke hearing his last words.
He fought back. âIt's not a choice. Joffrey has demanded I ride North to fight.â
âYou promised me that we would be together. That nothing and no one would tear us apart!â
He rose up from the bed wrapping his arms around my waist pulling me against his chest. âIf i don't go, Joffrey will put my head on a spike. I know youâre terrified but this is what has to happen.â
âB-but IâŚSwear it to me.â I gulped gripping the front of his tunic in my fingers.
His green orbs meet my purple eyes. âSwear what, Vaella?â We both knew that he had never broken a vow to me even if he had broken one to his former king.
âSwear that you will do everything you can to come home. Swear that you will come back to me no matter what happens.â
Jaime rested his forehead down onto mine vowing to me before we shared a deep kiss. âI swear I will come back to you, Princess Vaella Targaryen.â Leaning up on my toes i yanked the collar of his tunic deepening the kiss to terrified to break away from him, not wanting to let him go until he absolutely had to.
I let out a yelp when he lifted me into his arms, I wrapped my arms around him and pressed my lips against his. He kissed me back passionately and we stumbled towards the bed and dropped me down on it. My back hit the soft silk sheets before I rose up from the bed staring at him softly and brought a hand to his cheek stroking it softly.
He lifted his tunic over his head and threw it to the ground. My heart began to beat for a second as I stared at him, my eyes directed down to his muscular chest, and blushed at the sight. I averted my eyes with my hands covering them quickly and tried to contain my blush, he looked up at me and smirked at my reaction. "See something you like, hmm?â
"A womanâs flower is the most important thing so Iâm sorry Iâm not familiar with sex." I pointed out to him when I peeked through my fingers for a split second.
"Vaella, we donât have to do this." He reassured me, grabbing my hand with his. "You donât have to do anything you donât want to."
"No, I want to do this." I said, wishing my heart would stop beating so rapidly like I was scared.
He took a seat beside her on the bed scanning over her face as if looking for a sign that she wanted to back out finding none. "Donât worry, princess.â
"Do you want me to kick you in your cock?" I challenged, eyeing him.
He shakes his head no in defense of my threat. âSeven hells no.â
âThen donât use my title as a nickname.â I sniped back.
Jaime smirked, leaning down and cupped my face, pressing his lips on mine. âThat would be against my nature, princess. Besides, you secretly love it.â
My hands started to trace his form, I began to run his fingers up and down his muscular chest softly while I began to feel his hand start to crawl underneath my gown. He yanked the fabric off my head, throwing it to the ground only once. "A dragon and a lion who wouldâve thought.â
"My father would be furious if he saw us like this.â I laughed seeing how my eyes were trailing him.
Jaime muttered, sending me a smile. âGood thing your mother liked me.â
He pushed me down to the bed gently, towering over me. He grabbed onto one of my breasts and began to massage it gently before leaning down, lowering his lips down to one of my nipples and starting to suck on it. I began to whimper in pleasure asis felt his lips on me, he tugged on it with his teeth gently before switching breasts and doing the same thing.
He stood up from the bed and unbuttoned his trousers, tugging them down to his legs before stepping out of them wearing nothing but his boxers. He teared his boxers in a split second, releasing his member. My eyes widened at how big It was and wondered how that would fit inside me.
He knelt down in front of my legs and opened my legs up a bit, he ran his hands up my legs. "Jaime, I-"
"Do you trust me? " He asked, glancing up at me.
"With all my heart.â I replied struggling to catch my breath knowing that my heart was racing a mile a minute .
He hovered over me and brought his lips down upon mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and embraced more into the kiss. I felt a hard rock positioned at my lower religion, he placed his member at my center and looked up at me. "Are you sure you really want this?"
"I want you." I said, gripping the bed sheets in my fingers, never moving my gaze from his. " Please just go gently."
He nodded and aligned himself against me before thrusting into me softly , I hissed out in pain as I felt him breaking through my wall, tears began to well in my eyes." You feel soo good, Vaella." He moved slowly against her, I bit down on my lip hard trying to bear through the pain.
Within moments I felt the pain suddenly vanish and began to feel pleasure. I began to move against him and leaned up pressing my lips down upon his. He embraces me back instantly when my fingers dug into his back. He ran his body over every inch of my body he could reach, both of us slick with sweat as he moved against one another, our pants and moans filling the room. He leaned up on his knees and began to thrust hitting a certain spot inside of her.
âJaime ! " I moaned out as his thrust became hard and fast, my boobs began to bounce up and down from the impact
I came moaning out loudly as I felt a wave of pleasure come over me. He came seconds later as I felt him emptying inside of med, both moaning and groaning while they did. He removed from her before laying down beside her trying to catch his breath alongside her. "Vaella, Iâm sorry."
Rolling over onto his chest I eased his worries with a kiss. "I...I'm good, just exhausted." I felt my eyes struggling to stay open until I rolled over onto my side placing my head in the crook of his neck with us both falling asleep.

OC Interview Tag
Thank you @tryingtimi for the tag! Iâll leave this one open for whoever wants to use the questions.
I feel like I havenât written them consistently in this, but I wanted an excuse to develop one of Veselyâs employees. So hereâs Ridley, a biologist who is less invested in spreading Freak genes and more interested in unlocking immortality via reanimation.
1. Are you named after anyone?
My name is my own. It gets the job done, and thatâs all that matters.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I donât cry. Crying gets you kicked. I work.
3. Do you have kids?
It depends on what you count as children. Did I create them? Yes. But I am not their parent. They answer to no one but themselves.
4. Do you use sarcasm?
Only for those who deserve it.
5. Whatâs the first thing you notice about people?
I listen to them talk. People with three-word vocabularies are worthless to my work. The patients that yield the best results are the confident ones who like to show off, who use fancy words at parties because they think youâre easily impressed. They have high brain capacity, but their egos cloud their judgment. Those are the people that will sign up for any experiment, as long as you make it seem like theyâre important.
6. Whatâs your eye color?
Have you ever seen a piece of dry moss? Itâs peeling off the tree, all shriveled up and bleached from the light, practically falling apart in your hand. Iâm told itâs like that, only the moss is more pleasant to look at.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Horror films help me think better. I donât care about ghost stories, or idiot slashers running around and wasting precious life. My mind has always been drawn to stories of the undead. Life persevering after death. Souls that refuse to die, even when time eats away at their shells. We have the potential to live forever, but no one is willing to explore what it takes to survive. No one but Master, of course.
8. Any special talents?
Some people out there would call it ânecromancy.â I am not a sorcerer. There is no magic involved. Iâm simply pushing biology to its limits, searching for the key to our survival.
9. Where were you born?
You would have to ask my parents, but no one knows who they are. They threw me away the minute they saw my face.
10. What are your hobbies?
Aside from my work, I try to read.
11. Do you have any pets?
Our lab rat, Dorian. He was the only one to survive the trials. He is my proof that we are meant to persevere, to laugh in the face of death.
12. What sports do you play/have played?
I do yoga, just to keep myself refreshed. Thereâs too much that needs to be done, I canât waste that time on recreational sports.
13. How tall are you?
Five-foot-six, last I checked. Iâm sure Iâm not the shortest employee, but I donât go around measuring people.
14. Favorite subject in school?
Health and fitness, of course. In this line of work, you need to know everything that the human body is capable of. An artist has nothing if their canvas is ill-prepared.
15. Dream job?
This is my dream, researching and testing under the safety of Our Master. With his guidance, I will find the key to our future.
#writeblr#wip: bluebrook#tag games#I mean they might also show up in Freaks but who knows lol#best way to describe them is a humorless scholar whoâs always one questioning look away from going full mad scientist

@nico-di-angelfish tagged me,, and I forget to do these if I donât do them immediately so here are my 9 (current) favorite albums:
1 and 2 are both albums by The Clash. The first is their debut album, which has Remote Control, Garageland, and Hate and War. I love how gritty and honest it all is; strummer and jones both sound so sincere. Sandinista is my favorite album by them. It's a weird mishmash of sounds, but it's true. If you want to understand the album, listen to Washington Bullets, Corner Soul, and Something about England. I realize London Calling's absence is controversial.
3 is The Black Parade. This album got me through my first semester in college. I could listen to it for hours with friends trying to decipher what on earth is going on. Every time I think I've got a good grasp on it- it slips away.
4 is Sweeney Todd. I had to include Sondheim somehow, and I think this is one of his best works. Johanna (quartet), Epiphany, and the final sequence are unskippable. Also,, "and though I'll think of you I guess until the day I die, I think I miss you less and less as every day goes by, Johanna" it's not sad, it's just... you sort of forget as you're watching that it's the system that made Sweeney, and he's not inherently a bad guy. "And you'd be beautiful and pale and look too much like her. If only angels could prevail, we'd be the way we were". Sweeney throughout the show doesn't try to make the audience like him. sometimes he explains his world view, but it's not in search of acceptance. This is the one time where he's letting his softer emotions out and we see the man that once was.
5. I don't even know where to begin. I'm talking about the 1973 version. Nothing more to say.
6 is representative of Willam Finn in general, but @nico-di-angelfish already put falsettos. I think I listen to 25th Annual more anyway, especially lately. I made the mistake a few years ago of only listening to the first few songs and dismissing it. Do not do that. Listen to the end- watch it live if you can because the context is sort of important. Not the context- but you need to know the characters so that you can let yourself feel. If you get to "the I love you song" and still don't get it... I don't know what else to tell you
spring awakening is my 7th pick. I love spring awakening but I fully realize that if I hadn't seen a production of it this year, it wouldn't be in the running. but I did, so it's here.
Phantom of the Opera is here because apparently Jesus Christ Superstar wasn't enough Lloyd Webber for me. I'm talking specifically about the original cast album with brightman and crawford. It's a beautiful album and playing it will always brighten (ha!) my day. Like,,, the clash is many things, but it's not beautiful. Sure, Dickinson might say beauty and truth are one- but the distinction is there because the clash is so true it's beautiful, while phantom is so beautiful it's true.
Hamilton is obligatory, because I owe Hamilton a lot. I hardly ever listen to it anymore but it belongs here.
I tag whoever wants to do this! Also I tag @bestoftimes-worstoflimes
@nico-di-angelfish did you know everything I would include?

I know, I know "it's such old media how can there be spoilers" but we all know that about 0.3% of us have actually read Dracula before and 99.9% of Dracula media we have seen bears 0 resemblance to the story we're reading now. With that in mind, please consider tagging your Dracula Daily posts and/or writing at the top of the post what day's entry you're talking about so folks can skip potential spoilers as needed.

It's interesting to read people complaining about the community label feature when my understanding is (and correct me if I'm wrong here):
1. Your post will only get hidden if you mark it as sensitive. If you're worried about people not changing their settings, that's fair. You can make an FYI post and wait until you're confident before marking your work with a community flag. But it's not like the Nipple Banâ˘ď¸ where an AI is rampantly tagging onions as sensitive. It's only if you mark your own post as sensitive.
2. This is what allows Tumblr to unblock porn. Which is something folks have been asking for ever since the aforementioned Nipple Banâ˘ď¸. The idea is that if porn is hidden by default but folks can opt-in, Apple won't pull them off the App Store.
Maybe I'm missing something, but this feels like a win for folks making adult content? I know people on Tumblr engage less with creators these days. So it's fair to be worried that your reach will shrink. Make a few FYI posts to your followers. Don't mark your stuff as sensitive until you're ready. And then once you feel confident, try the feature out? See what you think. Give staff feedback.

The thing about Everything Everywhere All At Once is that it could have been terrible. Like there were so many elements there that 99% of the time would not have worked together. But in this case it did???? Equal parts horror, comedy, family, philosophy, and fashion.

Spent 2 hours watching this movie going "huh, this is a lot like Hamlet. Funny, even the guy's name sounds like Hamlet." Turns out. I'm watching the Norse myth of Amleth. Ya know. The Norse myth HAMLET WAS BASED OFF OF. No one's talking about this? We talk about Hamlet all the damn time and no one thought to say "btw, he ripped off a Norse myth. Just moved the H around and killed Ophelia." She doesn't die in the original myth, folks. It's just Shakespeare out here fridging and moving Hs around.

My #1 post of 2022
I think the thing that hit me the hardest about Everything Everywhere All At Once was that.... Evelyn in part brings Jobu Tapaki into existence through her abuse and Jobu, in response to her pain... destroys worlds and lives searching for a version of her mother that can help her navigate the pain.
The nuance of the situation was so beautiful to me. It's the... "You hurt me but I still want you to comfort me and I don't care how much I hurt you as I dig for that comfort."

Locked out
°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°
Iâm terrible at titles
The six x reader tag is dry y'all wtf
Warning(s) : Cathy says a few â¨nsfw⨠things, heavily implied fem!reader but they/them pronouns is used, cursing
Summary : Cathy gets locked out of the house and asks to stay the night with you. And at the end of the night you find yourself in bed with a former monarch
°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°â˘ââŞď¸ââ˘Â°
Shit.
Cathy turned around at the slight bang, to reveal what she already expected : The front door closed due to the wind.
âKeys, Cathy keys-" Cathy desperately went through their pockets. "Come on Parr you're supposed to be the smart one-!" They searched for a few minutes. Though all in vain as they groaned and slid to the floor.
They reached for their phone, and whether it was pure luck or fate, they did atleast bring that with them.
They thought about texting Catherine for a momentâ But decided against it, 'it's the middle of the showâ She won't even have her phone.'
Cathy scrolled through their contacts, trying to figure out anyone they could ask for help.
Their eyes landed quickly, the alternate that had a day offâ Rightfully so, Being a super swing they do a lot of covers.
They contemplated their options before opening it, realizing they really didn't have any other options.
â
Cathy Parr : Heyyyy- could i ask for a favor
{Y/N} : Course- what do you need?
Cathy Parr : could you come pick me up i locked myself out of the house :))). And could i stay with you for the night- maybe- please-
{Y/N} : You what-
Cathy Parr : Pls pls pls, I'll ask Catherine if she can give you a few more days off pls.
{Y/N} : Okay okay, i'm coming- this better be a one time thing
Cathy Parr : ofc no worries
â
Cathy cheeredâ Thanking the gods they asked for all the alts their numbers.
It was originally for calling in sick, till it became making a group chat of the entire cast and talking a lot more outside of the show
Soon enough a car pulled up, Thank god they all knew eachother's adresses in case of emergency.
"Alright, Get in before i change my mind." You lowered the Car's window to speak to Cathyâ Who looked almost in awe at seeing you in completely casual attire.
"Right." They snapped out of their trance and got up from the side walk, taking the passengers seat, sending a smile your way.
As the car started up, you decided to make conversation, it would make an awkward night if you didn't talk to the survivor at all.
"How did you end up like this?"
Cathy stared at you before giggling, "i was throwing away leftovers from takeoutâ No one besides me would want it anyway. I forgot my keys and the door shut because of the wind." You raised a brow before responding.
"Makes sense, i suppose."
The rest of the ride was spent with small talk, You were having small talkâ with a former queen. If you'd told anyone about this you doubt they'd believe you.
Soon enough you'd arrived at your home, Cathy staring in awe, despite knowing where you live and being able to come over any time, they never actually did, assuming you'd be uncomfortable with them just showing up.
You chuckled lightly at the wonder in Cathy's eyes as you opened the car door, the noise basically smacking them out of their thoughts and quickly following you out of the car and into your house.
Inside, Cathy looked around. It wasn't muchâ but it was still pretty.
"You wait here, i'll see if the geust bedroom is available." Cathy raised a brow, did you already have someone over?
You laughed at them, "It's just because it's normally a huge mess, no one ever comes over to spend a night it's basically a storage room with a bed in the middle." Cathy let out a noise of understanding.
âMake yourself feel at home! Orâ Whatever they always say.â Cathy chuckled, barely audible to you as you walked away to the geust room.Â
After a few minutes you returned, Startling Cathy when you started talking. âIt is absolutely not, Itâs a mess. Unless you like sleeping in between dirt bags, which in that case go ahead.â Cathy snickered, shaking their head. âRather not. I imagine itâs rather uncomfortable.âÂ
You smiled. âIf you want you can sleep on my bed, iâm fine sleeping on the couch.âÂ
âWait-â
âBecause it seems rather rude to have the geust sleep on the couch.â
âWe could sleep togheter.âÂ
You blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice.
âWhat?âÂ
âI donât want you to sleep on the couch either- Itâs your house after all. And i wouldnât mind sleeping in the same bed.â Cathyâs face slowly became a dark shade of red, only now realizing what they really said.
âBut i donât know- You donât have to-âÂ
âI wouldnât mind.âÂ
âOh-âÂ
Cathy stared into space for a minute, processing your answer. âDo you have any sleeping clothes with you by some kind of miracle?â You asked, way to casually for the flustered queen to understand. Cathy smiled sheepishly, their face becoming even more red. âI have a bra on?â You grimaced. âWho in their right mind sleeps while wearing a bra.âÂ
Cathy grinned, seeing an oppurtunity. âWant me to sleep naked then?âÂ
This time your face went red. âIâll see if i have anything else for you.â You walked off again, leaving the queen to process everything that just happened. âOh sweet lord.â Cathy whispered to themself. They put their face in their hands, blushing heavily.Â
You returned in only a matter of seconds. Cathy had already calmed down in the short time, but your face was still burning red, Causing a light chuckle from Cathy.
âWhatâs your size?âÂ
âI... honestly donât know.â Cathy said, causing you to throw your head back with a groan. âThat means youâre gonna have to see if it fitsâ And i donât know if you have the energy to go through my entire closet.â
âIâll really have to sleep in my bra then.â Cathy joked, Though not really knowing if it was fully a joke. âHow the hell do you do that?â You asked. âItâs comfortable?â Cathy shrugged, smiling. You looked at her with confusion for a few more seconds before continuing.Â
âI mean if youâre okay, and comfortable, with that.â Cathy nodded. âItâs not like weâve never seen eachother like that before.â
Cathy had almost said it in something others would consider a romantic way. It was almost like they were suggesting something differentâ Of course you knew that wasnât it. But you still blushed at the thought.
Cathy laughed as she saw your blush grow. âDonât worry! Iâm not suggesting anything!â
You let out a breath you didnât know you were holding
âUnless you want me toââ
You slapped your hand over your mouth, blushing furiously. Cathy laughed harder. âIâm kidding, iâm kidding!â They threw their hands up in defence. âIâm only teasing you. Promise.â Cathy grinned.Â
âRightâ, Yeah letâs just go to sleep now.â You walked off to your bedroom, leaving Cathy to undress.Â
The moment you sat down you slammed your head down on your pillow. Processing the entire situation. You quickly went to your closet to change yourself.Â
A few minutes after you were done Cathy walked into the room.Â
Cathy smiled sheepishly. âWell time to sleep then?â
You raised your brow. âShouldnât you message the others about where you are?â You asked, Cathy chuckling in response. âIâm an adult.âÂ
âDoesnât always seem like it.â
âHey-!âÂ
You laughed as Cathy crossed their arms in mock anger. âIâm 21 thank you.âÂ
â21 going on 5 then.â You chuckled as Cathy gasped. âLetâs just get to bed!â Cathy walked over to the bed, ushering you over to the other side. You quickly thanked the gods you decided to get a double bed as Cathy pulled you down.
âLay down you maniac!â Cathy grinned playfully holding you down to the matress. âFor the first time in my life i want to sleep, which means you have to as well.â They looked up at you for a reaction, grinning more when you rolled your eyes but obeyed.Â
âLike i said 21 going on 5.â You smiled as Cathy turned the remaining bed side lamp off.Â
âFuck off.âÂ
âCanât exactly do that now can i-âÂ
âShut up! Go to sleep.âÂ
And as you both layed down and finally went to sleep, you realized you'd have some feelings to work out.

-
Molly made a quick recovery and things went back to the usual routine. For her. Tom found himself wearing his better workout clothes. The ones without the holes. And wearing cologne and shaving.
âDid you shave?â Molly asked one morning, running her hand over his chin.
âYes.âÂ
âShame, I kind of liked how you looked with the stubble.â
Tomâs smile faded, and he started shaving only once or twice a week from then on.Â
-
âI need you to go shopping.â Tom mentioned one day on his way out.Â
Molly didnât glance up from her reading. âJust make a list and Iâll go to the grocery store today.â
âNo.â Tom fidgeted. âThereâs an event. A party.â He cleared his throat. âFor Marvel.â Tom tugged at his hair.
Mollyâs eyes bugged out. âThis isnât just some party, is it?â
âNo. Itâs a big deal. All the stars will be there. Kevin Feige and some other execs. Think you handle it?â
Molly smirked. âPiece of cake, I have been charming VIPs for years. What kind of look do you want? Sweet wife or damn thatâs his wife?â
Tom pulled her close. âSomewhere in between. Have Emma help you. I have no idea where to buy womenâs clothes.â
âWill do.â Molly kissed his cheek. âHave a good day.â She pressed her hand on his chest.
âYou too.â He returned the kiss on the cheek and stepped out of the door.Â
Molly grabbed her phone and dialed Emma.
âSo where does someone go to get a cocktail dress in this town?â
-
Molly caught Tom digging in her wardrobe the morning before the event.Â
âWhat are you doing in there?â Molly called out from the doorway.Â
Tom jumped and hit his head on the door. âI⌠I⌠was⌠just looking to see⌠ifâŚâ he sputtered, searching for a story.
âIf you could see my dress before tonight.â She waved a hand, gesturing Tom out of the room. âOut.â
âBut I need to make sure we coordinate.â Tom whined. His fingers lingered on a garment bag.
âThatâs my wedding dress.â she sighed. âIf I give you a color, will you yield?â
âOn my honor as a gentleman.â Tom smiled.
âBlack. Now leave. Your sister is coming over in a few hours to do my hair.â
Tom wrinkled his nose. âHow long does hair take?â
She patted his cheek. âOh you sweet summer child.â
-
Tom did the best to ignore the giggles coming from Mollyâs bathroom. He fiddled with his jacket and shirt sleeves. He selected a black tweed-like suit with a grey shirt and tie. They should coordinate, he thought. For photos.Â
A loud burst of laughter came from the bathroom. Tom strolled over and knocked on the door. Emma popped her head out.
âSheâs not ready yet.âÂ
âWe need to leave in fifteen minutes.â Tom countered.
âGive me ten.â Emma shooed him away. âNow go away.â
Tom shoved his hands in pockets. âItâs my house, you know.â he muttered.
âOur house!â Molly piped up from behind the door.
Emma turned to her. âDonât engage. It only encourages him to stick around.â Emmaâs head snapped back to Tom. âWhy are you still here?â
âIâm going! Ten minutes, Em!âÂ
Tom paced the living room floor. Twelve minutes later, Emma stepped in and cleared her throat.
âI present your stunning wife.âÂ
Molly stepped into the room and Tomâs breath caught in his throat. This was unlike how he had ever seen her before. Her tiered ruffled black dress hit right above the knee. Cut low in the front and back, it was sexy but not scandalous. Her hair pulled back into a low chignon.Â
âYeahâŚâ Tom breathed, staring at Molly, who fidgeted in place.
âThanks.â She caught the time. âShit! Tom, we need to get going. Thanks so much, Em.â
Emma hugged Molly. âMy pleasure. Next time we use the big bathroom. Or maybe my brother will renovate that bathroom to a his and hers.â
âHuh?â Tom frowned, glancing at Emma.
Emma giggled. âThatâs my cue to leave.â She hugged Tom. âShe really is your match, Tom.â Emma whispered in his ear.
Molly waited until the door shut before reaching over, playfully smacking Tomâs chest.Â
âBrilliant acting job there! You had me going for a moment there.âÂ
Tom chuckled. âRight. Right. Letâs go.â He wrapped his arm around her waist.
-
Molly wasnât lying when she said the party would be a piece of cake. She charmed everyone she spoke to. Tom most of all. He beamed, watching her from across the room.Â
âYou are positively glowing, Thomas.â Benedict sidled up next to him. âI guess that means the rumours are true.â Ben sipped his drink.
âHmmm?â Tom turned to his friend, lost in thought.Â
âEarth to Tom.â Ben mocked.Â
Tom frowned at him. âIâm sorry, something distracted me. What was the question?âÂ
âWould that something be that young lady charming Mark Ruffalo, who is sporting a pretty diamond on an important finger?â
âAnd they said you shouldnât play Sherlock.â Tom mocked. âThat young lady happens to be Molly.â
âAnd what would be Mollyâs last name?â
âHiddleston.â Tom muttered.
âIs this a mysterious third sister?â
Tom threw Benedict a derisive glare. âWhy donât you just come out and ask the question, Benedict? Itâs not a sister, thatâs my wife. I got married. There, happy?â Tom huffed, downing half his cocktail.Â
âYes. But more importantly, are you happy?âÂ
Tom glanced over at Molly, laughing at something Mark said. âI am. I really am.âÂ
âThen, congratulations.â Ben clinked his glass with Tomâs.
-
Molly sidled up to the bar to catch a breath.Â
âCranberry and soda with a twist of lime.â she ordered, leaning against the bar.Â
âFinally a moment alone with the belle of the ball.â A deep voice said next to Molly.
She turned to face none other than Chris Evans. He sipped on a bottle of beer, wearing a black on black suit with a brown tie. It shouldnât work, but it did.Â
âCaptain America, himself.â She smiled and extended a hand. Chris shook it. âPleasure to meet you.â
âMost people just call me Chris. And you, what do people call you?â He flashed a smile which she returned.
âMolly.â
Chris took another swig of beer. Molly licked her lips, watching. âSo what do you do, Molly, besides charming the pants off of everyone in the room?â
-Â
Tomâs head snapped around at Mollyâs laugh from across the room.Â
âExcuse me for a moment, Ben. I think Molly needs me.â
Benedictâs furrowed at how Tom could know that. Then he spied where Tom was beelining. The bar where Molly and Chris Evans stood in quite the animated conversation. He snaked his way through the crowd to get a better view.
-
Molly giggled. âThat is too funny, Chris. Is it true thatâŚâ she sensed someone behind her. It was Tom. âTom!â
âOh you met Molly.â Chris offered.
Molly snorted. Tomâs hand wrapped around her waist, squeezing tight. Her stomach fluttered at Tomâs touch.Â
âI have.â Tom snapped back. âSheâs my wife.â
âOh shit!â Chris held up his hands. âIâm so sorry man. I had no idea. Congratulations. Thatâs quite a girl you got there.âÂ
Molly smiled and relaxed against Tom. He kept his death grip on her waist, but he did smile at Chris.
âDarling, Benedict is dying to meet you. Can I steal you away?âÂ
Molly twisted to gaze up at Tom, cupping his cheek. âOf course, love.â She reached out to touch Chrisâs arm, not noticing Tomâs smile faltering. âSteal away.â
Tom leaned down and kissed her lips before leading her away.Â
-
After a quick chat with Benedict, Molly excused herself to the bathroom. Ben leaned into Tom.
âWhat the hell was that?â Ben hissed.
âI donât know what you are talking about.â Tom tugged on his jacket.
âI mean that little territory marking over there with Evans.â Ben commented. âYou practically whipped it out and peed on her.âÂ
âDonât be crude. I was just⌠making sure Molly met you.â Tom lied.Â
âBullshit. You were jealous. Why? She married you.â
Tom sipped his drink. âItâs complicated.âÂ
âThen explain it to me.â
âNot here.â Tom hissed.Â
âThen lunch, tomorrow.â Benedict offered. âJust you and me and the truth.â
Tom paled. Molly came back and wrapped her arm around him.
âDid I miss anything?â
âNothing. Other than me missing you.â
âAww.â Molly leaned her head against Tomâs chest. âIâm going to the bar. Do you gentlemen want anything?â
Tom perked up. âIâll come with you.âÂ
Ben mumbled into his glass, emptying it. âJust whipping it out.â Tom shot him daggers.
âWhat was that?â Molly questioned.
âI am just heading out.â Ben said, covering. âSophie will be expecting me.â
Molly leaned over and kissed Benâs cheek. âI canât wait to meet her. She sounds delightful.â
âShe is.â Ben nodded. âTom.â He extended his hand, and the two gave a quick hug.
âBenedict.â Tom responded tensely.Â
Tom stuck to Mollyâs side for the rest of the event. She appreciated the attention but was a little sad she didnât get to finish up her conversation at Chris. She could swear Tom was keeping her from Chris. Molly shrugged off the feeling.Â
She chattered on the ride home.Â
âThat was a lot fun, Tom. Everyone was nice.â
âThey were.â Tom responded, gripping the steering wheel tight.
âMark, Ben, Chris, and Robert.âÂ
Tom bristled at Chrisâs name. He plastered on a smile. âBut Iâm the one going home with you.â
She placed her hand on top of his and ran her thumb over his knuckles. Each swipe sent electricity through Tom.Â
âI hope I was convincing. You donât think anyone suspects?âÂ
âWhat?â Tom glanced over at her. His voice grew more tense.
âAbout us. The whole fake marriage.âÂ
âOh. No, darling, you were perfect.âÂ
He lifted her hand to his lips, kissing the back of it. The first true thing he had said for most of the night. Molly wasnât just lovely. She was perfect. Damning and infuriatingly perfect. And he was in love with her. And she wasnât in love with him.
Tom feigned being exhausted once they got home.Â
âIâm off to bed.â
âMe too.â Molly pulled off her black pumps. Tom headed towards his room. âWait. I forgot! Will you get my zipper? Emma had to do me up.â She spun around.
Tom gulped. âSure.â His fingers shook as he tugged the zipper down. His fingertips grazing across Mollyâs back. Her skin soft and warm.
âTh.. thanks.â Molly stuttered.
âYouâre welcome.â
She held the dress up by crossing her arms in front of her. She kissed Tomâs lips. âNight, Tom.â
He kissed her back, not how he wanted to. He wanted to rip that dress off of her and push her against the wall and kiss her until she lost her breath and then kiss her some more. Just for good measure.Â
He leaned back. âGood night, Molly.â His voice low and soft as if he didnât trust to speak too loud. As if he would spook her and ruin everything.
Mollyâs head dropped, and she headed to her room, door clicking shut.
âShit!â Tom yanked his tie off. âReal fucking smooth Hiddleston.â
-
Tom begged off their run that morning, claiming he was too tired from last night. In fact, he didnât get up until he had to leave to meet Benedict for lunch.Â
Molly sat up when Tom came into the living room.
âAre you feeling okay?â She beckoned him over and she pressed her hand to his forehead. âNo fever.â
âIâm fine. Just tired.â He kissed her cheek. âI appreciate your concern, though. Iâm off to meet Ben. Think youâll be okay for a few hours without me?âÂ
âI think I can manage.â Molly mock pouted. âBut hurry home.â
âYes, darling.â Tom smiled and gave her a quick peck before walking out the door.
-
Ben was already seated when Tom arrived at the pub.Â
âLook like shit, Tom.â Ben commented.
âI didnât sleep well last night.â Tom grabbed a menu and ordered a coffee and water.Â
âThe wife keep you up?â Ben sipped his beverage.
âNot exactly.â
âYeah, what is that all about? And why would you be jealous of Evans?â
Tom groaned. âCan I at least get my coffee?â
âNope.â Ben grinned a wide grin.
Tom sighed. âOkay so here is what happenedâŚâ
Benedict sat there silently while Tom relayed the whole sordid tale. He left nothing out, not even Clive.Â
Tom gazed up at his friend. âSay something, Ben. The silence is deafening.â
Benedict pressed his fingers to his lips. âAnd Luke doesnât know?â
âNo.â
âAnd not your mother?â
âNo. Just you.â Tom huffed. âAnd Molly.â
âObviously. Seems rather simple.â
âSimple?! How is anything simple?! I am in love with her, Ben.â Tom stabbed at his food. âSheâs all I think about.â
âSee, simple. Tell her how you feel.â Ben smiled. âThe two of you are already married. Seems like you skipped all the hard stuff.âÂ
âAnd when she rejects me? Not so simple. I canât lose her.â
Ben stared at his friend. âYou really are blind, arenât you? I saw how she looked at you last night. There is something there, and it is not you paying off her student loans. Molly genuinely cares for you.â
Tomâs brows raised. âYou think so.â
âI know so. Now letâs come up with a plan for you to woo your wife.â
Tom grinned.Â
-
Molly settled back onto the couch, only to be interrupted by a knock on the door.Â
âTom?â she called out while moving to answer the door. âDid you forget your keyââ She stopped short upon seeing who it was. âOh, Chris.â
Evans stood there wearing a plain tee that clung to his classic A-frame torso. Molly stared for a bit.Â
âHi!â He smirked at her.
âUm, Tom left to have lunch with Ben.â
âActually, I am here to invite you out to lunch. We never got to finish our conversation.âÂ
âLet me grab my coat.âÂ
Chris grinned as Molly grabbed her purse and coat before locking up. He slung an arm over her shoulder. âNow where is a good place to eat around here?â

âWherever You Areâ - Shoto Todoroki/Eijiro Kirishima
A/N: This piece is for my @bnhabookclub bingo card! Iâm crossing out âBe Quietâ and âHeated Argumentâ. I would also like to thank @honeytama @shoutogepi and @dragonhrte for beta reading <333
Pairings: Pro Hero!Todoroki x F!Reader / Pro Hero!Kirishima x F!Reader
Warnings: 18+, smut, mutual masturbation, minor temperature play, minor angst!
Summary: Todoroki already broke your heart when he said he was leaving for 6 months, but Kirishima can glue your broken heart back together before he returns...right?
Word Count: 5.2k
masterlist
â6 months.â
The words stung more than they shouldâve. Half a year of not being able to see his face, hold his hand, sleep together in the same bed.
âDoes it have to be so long? Do you really have to go?â
God your mind ran at a hundred miles a minute. Searching his face for any semblance of wanting to rethink the offer about heroing in America. But the sympathetic glance in his eyes was enough to tell you what his words could not.
Of course you were proud of him, of course you were. It wasnât a minor thing in his career and not many heroes would be selected for such an astounding opportunity. Top heroes in Japan touring around America to show their quirks and how different cultures portrayed their heroes. A bit flamboyant for Todoroki but you presumed he was only following as Deku and Ground Zero were also picked for the once-in-a-lifetime gig.
âIâll be back before you know it baby, I promise.â
So you took that promise to heart.
-
In the following months leading to his departure, there was a heavy air between the two of you that wouldnât be mentioned. As if you both knew the inevitable was coming. How would you two manage a relationship from thousands of miles away? You had read every article on the internet, even bought books and followed tags that allowed you to know how to keep the fire burning between the two of you.
Shoto was typically quiet, he always was. But as he began packing his bags for the long tour, he was deathly silent. The guilt of leaving you by yourself in your shared home burning him up inside. He knew he had to say something to you about this whole ordeal, but how could he? He was taking this life changing decision and ruining what you two had perfectly here. But you two could survive right? Or was that the right decision overall? Was prolonging you two the right decision?
It all came down to the day he had to leave. Helping him pack the last of his necessities into his very packed suitcases which had been neatly placed upon your shared bed.
âI completely forgot to ask, howâre you getting to the airport?â
âBakugou and Midoriya are dropping me off.â
Oh. You had hoped you could get those final moments of couples bliss before he left, but you couldnât not indulge in having the two young heroes watch in jealousy of you and your boyfriend.
âCan I come? See you off before you leave?â
Your tone was so bittersweet. Not really wanting to see him leave into the airport gates.
âOf course you can.â Todoroki zipped up his final case before pressing a chaste kiss upon your forehead, lingering for a moment to then head to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for you both.
The familiar ring of Todorokiâs phone signified that Bakugou and Midoriya were outside. Bakugou had convinced Kirishima to drive them to the airport (which he did not appreciate as it was far too early for him) and he was the one to head up to help Todoroki with his cases.
âIâll get that for you Y/N, no worries.â His toothy grin glimmered to you as he picked up the heavy case with ease. It must be fun being a pro-hero.
The ride to the airport was sweet, despite being squashed in the back with Bakugou and Todoroki. It was mostly filled with inside jokes between the four boys and Bakugou screaming for the aux cord because âShitty hairâs music is shittyâ. Youâd miss the small moments like these.
After checking the three men and their bags to the plane, Todoroki and you parted from the group to have a few last moments together before it would only be facetimes and snapchat stories in seeing each otherâs lives.
âY/N you know this will be difficult right?â
âI know, but Iâve planned everything out! Weâre gonna be fine.â
âIâm going to be so busy though, Iâll barely have time for calls and Iâll be so tired at the end of my day and-â
âThatâs why when we do call, itâll be so much more special! We have date nights planned and-â
âY/N, look I just donât think I want to push this.â
You could have almost spat your coffee out at his interruption. He wasnât even looking at you, springing this up on you in your last moments before not seeing him for 6 whole months.
âWh-what are you saying?â
âIâm saying that⌠I donât know, maybe you should see other people. I just donât think- with how busy I am-it willonât work.â
You hadnât even realised you were crying. Your glare towards him basically begging for him to look you in the eyes. Coward.
âSo you wonât even try?â
âI just donât see the point-â
âThe point in us?â The daggers in your voice finally made him look up at you, the snivelling mess he had made you into. He had gotten your hopes up that it would work, that youâd still be there for him and support him. âHave fun on your tour Todoroki.â
You left your coffee half drunk, not even wanting the takeaway cup with his name on it. It wasnât worth your time.
âHey Kirishima could I have the keys to your car? I just wanna sit down for a bit.â Your eyes were practically glued to the floor, as a means to not show him that you were seconds from fully breaking down.
âSure, but, arenât you gonna say goodbye to Sho?â He reluctantly pulled his keys out from his sweatpants pocket, dangling them in front of you in hopes that he could see your expression.
âHe just did.â You try your best not to snatch them from him but your attempt fails. You just wanted to be out of there. Even pushing past Bakugou and Midoriya to exit the building and sit alone with your thoughts.
Selfish bastard. If heâd been thinking about this for so long why not just break up with you when he first told you? Why wait so fucking long for him to just break your heart when you did so much to salvage anything if things got bad? You hit your hand on the steering wheel so hard that the horn beeps and you sob more from the fright. You mustâve looked insane.
Kirishima arrived back at his car about 10 minutes later. Sliding out from the driverâs position to the passenger seat silently, you had at least cleaned yourself up a bit in the thought of knowing that he would soon be back.
âSo, he told me.â Kirishima breaks the silence. Hands gripping the wheel with a nervous intent. Knowing itâs a very touchy subject.
âYeah?â
âItâs gonna be fine yâknow? At least heâs not like in your face or anything or you canât awkwardly bump into him in the street.â His attempts to pick up the mood fall on deaf ears.
âHe didnât have to drag me along for the ride though.â Your tears slide down your face and pool on your neck, not even having the strength within you to wipe them away.
âWell weâre all here for you no matter what Y/N-â
âCan I go to yours for a bit? I know itâs early I just⌠donât want to go back to the flat just yet.â
âCourse you can.â
-
Staying at Kirishimaâs became a regular thing. Not really being able to confine yourself to the four walls of the apartment you used to share with Shoto.
Heâd let you sleep in his spare room, his gym equipment keeping you company in the night. It was a fine arrangement. Kirishima was always so nice to you when you were with Todoroki, and since your abrupt breakup; you had an inkling that Kirishima wasnât on the best of terms with him anymore.
The barren walls and blankets kept you safe from old memories, but your mind followed through with the nightmares.
Your body shook from the antagonising scowl upon Todorokiâs face, it was terrifying but mostly upsetting. You couldnât help but sob yourself awake. Your pillow a wet mess and your throat dry from screaming.
âY/N?â
Kirishima stood in your doorway, the light from the hallway pooling around him and the sympathetic gaze in his tired eyes.
âNightmares?â
You nodded, sitting yourself up in bed and wiping the wet from your cheeks. Kirishima sat on the edge of your bed, rubbing your leg comfortingly over the duvet.
âDo you need anything?â The tired croak in his voice broke your heart further. You felt like such a burden.
âNo Iâm okay; thank you.â With a small smile, Kirishima got up to go back to bed before you intervened. âWait- will you stay with me?â
Thereâs a small glimmer of confusion that passes over Kirishimaâs face, but in the end he accepts. Youâd known each other for many years and had many sleepovers in each other's dorms that this was nothing new.
Taking off his dressing gown, Kirishima was dressed in a slightly ripped top of his own âRed Riotâ merch and loose-fitting boxers. It took you a few moments to drink him in, this really was the most intimate youâd ever seen him.
And thatâs how it went for 5 months, just you and Kirishima periodically sleeping in each other's beds to just be with each other. Nothing explicit or sexual, just sometimes touching feet or waking up near enough in each otherâs arms.
Until 2 weeks before Deku, Bakugou and Todoroki were meant to come home.
Whether it was the heat of the night or just an off day from not having been intimate for so long you couldnât help but just need someone to touch you so badly. Thankfully Kirishima was in his room so you at least had some alone time to run your fingers against your slick folds, fingers sopping wet from just how aroused you actually were.
It was infuriating about how you could barely get yourself off, and stifling your moans with a weak lip bite was getting you absolutely nowhere. You knew how thin Kirishimaâs walls could be from that night he brought a girl home once. You barely got a lick of sleep just from the noise⌠or from the slight twinge of jealousy.
Because it had become such a norm to you both, you hadnât even noticed Kirishima enter your room with your eyelids pressed shut trying to picture any sort of scenario to get the edge off. So when you felt him tugging at your covers; your whole body turned to ice.
âKiri wait-â
But it was far too late. He had no choice but to see the bottom half of you completely naked and drenched in your own slick.
âOh fuck Y/N- I-Iâm so sorry look Iâll go I shouldâve knocked- fuck Iâm sorry.â Even in the darkness of your room you could clearly see the blush on his face as if it was illuminative. You also couldnât peel your eyes away from the rising tent in his sweatpants. You couldâve licked your lips at the sight.
âItâs alright- Iâm sorry I didnât notice you sooner.â You tried your best to catch your breath, with no real success as your tone was so ragged. You covered yourself up and place your hands on top of your covers; allowing for some form of minor stimulation to yourself without Kirishima noticing.
âD-Do you want me to help?â He sounded so innocent but the way he licked his lips sent chills to your spine. Could you really sleep with your best friend?
âI-I donât know, but- you obviously need some help yourself.â You do your best to joke about the awkward situation, something that was rather natural for your friendship. Kirishima couldnât help but slyly place his hands over his crotch despite you already noticing the dark grey patch of pre-cum staining the fabric.
âWell⌠we could just⌠masturbate together?â The thought hung in the air for a brief moment as it washed over the both of you, Kirishima gulping as the silence lasted longer than expected.
âOkayâŚâ Your tone was hesitant but he could tell by how dilated your pupils were that this would probably be something neither of the two of you would mention in the morning. Heâd be okay with that⌠maybe. Maybe not.
Sliding to his usual side of the bed, he leaned against the headboard and you sat yourself up a bit further. Pulling the covers to the side so everything was fully out in the open again. You could hear Kirishima hiss between his teeth at the sight of you even more drenched at the thought of you two doing this together. You watched with the same anticipation as him as he pulled his sweatpants down to let his cock spring free. The sight of it so red and flush couldnât stop your hand from sliding back down to your heat.
Seeing the two of you like this was enough to get you both off, the room was filled with an air of silence but it wasnât heavy. No, it was littered with the soft moans of you and your best friend.
Your eyes traced each otherâs bodies as if you needed to discover every inch of each other with just your eyes. Youâd seen Kirishima without his shirt many timesa time but you could practically beg for it just to see the way his muscles move as he pumped his cock. Kirishima gave you the same attentive look as he studied the way your fingers slid in and out of yourself.
After a few minutes of pleasure filled and moan ridden ecstasy; your hand began to cramp and the frustration of still not being able to get yourself off had tears streaming down your face.
âFuck Kiri-â You whined, hearing his name come out of your mouth was a sinful kiss to his ears. He wanted to hear it all the time.
âYeah, me too princess.â He sounded so low it was basically a grunt of a sentence. âDo you want me to-?â
âPlease.â He didnât have to wait, you lifted away your tired hand from yourself and he slid along the bed to run his fingers up your slit. Just the feeling of another person touching you so intimately was enough to release the tension from your sore head, the scream released from your throat couldâve made him come undone right then and there.
âJust like that baby?â Kirishimaâs calloused fingers danced delicately along your folds, squeezing ever so gently at your clit making your back arch. Your hand drifted along his midriff until it found the way to the bottom of his cock. He hissed at the feeling of your hand around him and his fingers stuttered against your core.
âPlease, mmmf⌠need you in me.â You managed to choke out. Kirishima didnât need another sign as he plunged two fingers into your wet self. He set his hand just above your head, leaning down on you as you fisted his member at the same rate he thrusted his fingers in and out of you.
You both silently knew that itâd be too weird if you two actually had sex. You were just helping each other in a time of need.
Kirishima pressed his knuckles down on the spongy part of your insides, making your hand falter aagainst him before finding your way to pick up your pace again.
âFuck fuck, Y/N- Iâm so fucking close.â Kirishima forced the words out of his mouth as he watched you writhe in pleasure underneath him.
âMe too Kiri oh fuck-â You could feel the coil tightening within you ready to burst and you felt him twitch beneath your hand.
âFucking hell fuck Y/N I lo-.â The sound of him moaning as he came into your hand and parts of your stomach drowned out his sentence and the way he curled his fingers while inside of you was enough to also tip you over the edge, grabbing his shoulder with your free hand for a reason to ground you to reality.
Catching your breath, Kirishima slid away from above you. The reality of the situation almost settling in for the two of you. He lifted the waistband of his sweatpants up before pressing a chaste kiss on your head. He wished he would have lingered longer.
âIâll get something to help you clean up.â He returned with two hot flannels, rubbing wherever his come had landed on you and using the other to wipe any sweat or where your slick had coated your thighs.
âThank you Kirishima.â Your throat croaked from the pleasure of it all, Kirishima couldnât help but give a short chuckle as he crawled into bed with you after throwing the flannels in the washing machine.
âI should be thanking you too.â
With that you both fell asleep, a little closer to each other than usual. But, what was he going to say before he got interrupted? You didnât have time to think of that now.
-
Within two weeks, you and Kirishima had become a lot closer after your little âsexual altercationâ. Your social media was flooded with photos of you and him going out to eat and going to the movies together and just dumb stuff youâd do at his apartment. So after 6 months of living on and off together; you two decided that youâd officially become roommates. Not a couple just⌠roommates.
âYou gonna need any help or anything?â Kirishima smiled as you opened the door to your old apartment you used to share with Todoroki. Thankfully for the last time.
âJust go to work silly. I'm just grabbing the last of my stuff. It's nothing big, just clothes and ornaments.â You waver him off with a shake of your hand. âYou gotta head to work and finish that paperwork.â
That earned a groan from him.
âIâd rather be manly and helpful to you.â He leaned his arm against the doorframe as you unlocked the door.
âYeah? Well you can go and be manly and helpful to the public, Iâll see you later Kiri.â You smirk, he rolls his eyes. You parted with a small hug and you began to get started to clean up the final things in your old apartment with Todoroki.
It looked almost barren now, you didnât realise how much of you was in this house and not him. He was always reserved, unlike Kirishima. Even though it was never a fully agreed upon thing that you were living with Kiri as youâd come back to this old house for most of the week- it didnât feel like home. But it did with Kirishima.
You placed old bedcovers and old clothes into a cardboard box, humming to yourself at the glee of not being alone in the birdcage of your ex. You didnât even hear the keys go in the door. It wasnât until you were exiting your old shared bedroom with the box in hand did you notice him. You couldnât help but drop the box as there was Todoroki, unchanged from the day he left you at that airport cafe.
âY/N?â
âI was just leaving.â
âLeaving where? Whereâve all your things gone?â He couldnât not help but notice your decorum missing, it brought life into the modern studio apartment.
âI donât live here anymore Todoroki. Iâm just getting my things and going home.â You attempt to save yourself the embarrassment of already dropping the box by spitting back with venom.
The look of confusion on the bicoloured manâs face was evident. You had no time to play his games.
âI live with Kirishima, Iâm getting the last of my things. I didnât even realise youâd be home today.â You sigh. Though, maybe you subconsciously did. Maybe you knew that heâd be home today and thatâs why you decided today was the day youâd get the rest of your things.
âI thought you were getting a bit close.â Todoroki grumbled under his breath, but he knew you heard him. âAlways on dates together, always at his house.â
The loud âhahâ you let out of your mouth was a jutter in the conversation, Todoroki was obviously taken aback.
âWhatâs it even to you? Why should you give a shit about my life when you just up and disappeared for 6 months on your own volition huh?â You spat despite your whole body shaking, you couldnât have missed him right? âYou left me alone even when I supported you, did all that shit to make sure weâd stay in contact and now you have the nerve to be jealous?â
His eyes scanned your face before watching you intently, crossing the space between you to finally stand in front of you. You could smell his cologne, citrus and sharp. Youâd forgotten how much you missed that smell.
âI didnât know how much Iâd missed you Y/N.â You could feel his breath fan your face catching your own ever so slightly. âI missed you so fucking much baby.â
âTodoroki-â
âCome on baby tell me you didnât miss me too.â His voice was so soft and sweet to your ears, you couldnât even stop him from leaning in so close to your face.
âI-â But before you could speak his lips had encapsulated yours, the box in your hands losing grip.
God had you missed his lips upon yours, you sunk into the kiss as if you had never slept and he was the comfiest bed on earth. He pushed the box from your hands and it landed to the floor with a large thud, taking you by surprise. Yet despite you breaking the kiss from the surprise he swooped you back to having his lips against yours once again.
Kicking the cardboard from the separation of the two of you, Todoroki pulled you close. Taking you in his arms and furthering the kiss. Heâd gotten more toned in the months that heâd been gone, your hands dancing over his muscles which were taught against his jumper.
âI shouldâve never fucking left you baby girl.â He moaned against your lips, hand to the back of your neck as he drank you in. âNever. I missed you so fucking much.â
Sliding his hands from your neck to your lower back until he reached your thighs, Todoroki pulled you up and you gripped onto his waist as if it was clockwork. How could you have ever thought about anyone else but him? Todoroki walked with ease with you around him to your old bedroom, and when he lay you on your bed it didnât feel so small anymore.
Buzz Buzz
âFuck- Shoto my phone,â You whined as Todoroki left nipping kisses down your neck, you shifted beneath him to grab your phone from your back pocket to only see Kirishimaâs name flash before you. You could feel Shotoâs heterochromic gaze as the photo of you and Kirishima lit up the screen.
âAnswer it-â Todorokiâs voice was a commanding growl and by the way he squeezed your breasts roughly you couldnât help but coincide. âAnswer it, but be quiet.â
With a gulp you shakily clicked to answer the call and put it on speaker as Todoroki began to slide down your jeans.
âHey Y/N! Look I know this is out of the blue and Iâm at work but- I canât just stop thinking about us and you know⌠what we did.â Kirishimaâs voice rang through the phone and you feel that Todorokiâs eyes could have pierced through you right then and there.
âBut I just think you know with everything weâve been through together- god this is so not manly asking over the phone but⌠do you wanna go on a date sometime? Iâll take you out somewhere nice and proper.â
Todoroki rolled his hips into your clothed core after taking off your jeans and a moan threatened to erupt from your throat. Sliding your underwear down his fingers pressed against your wetness and slid down before he bent his head down licking a strip against your sensitive clit. He knew your body like the back of his hand- you missed his gentle touch.
âAnd I know it might be weird because of Todoroki but he broke up with you so itâs understandable right?â Todorokiâs grip on your thigh became tighter as he lapped your pussy you thought that if you bit your lip any harder it would surely bleed. âI talked with Bakugou about it and he didnât exactly give the best advice but⌠I like you⌠a lot Y/N.â
You couldnât help but let out a whimpering moan as Todoroki slipped his tongue inside of you and moved in and out of you slowly, relishing the small moans you made.
âY/N? Are you there? You okay?â
Todorokiâs hand left your thigh and he sat up, allowing for his bulge to once again grind against your core. You gasp at the friction of his jeans against your sensitive clit.
âY/N? Hello? Please tell me youâre alright?â
With a swift grab of your phone and a hand pressed to your lips; Todoroki began to basically growl back at Kirishima.
âSheâs busy.â
Making a scene of pressing the end call button, Todoroki through your phone to the carpeted floor where it thankfully didnât smash.
âShoto!â
âSo youâve been messing about with Kirishima, baby?â You whimper at his words as he harshly presses his bulge against you. âAlso, didnât I tell you to be quiet?â
He grasps your chin with his forefinger and his thumb, placing a gentle kiss against your lips before bringing his other hand and slapping your ass hard. You wail at the contact which only gives Todoroki a glimmer of excitement in his eyes.
âIt was only once Shoto I promise-â
âShh shh shh, your filthy mouth needs to be quiet baby girl.â Todoroki leans up from you and begins to unbuckle his belt painfully slowly. His hand gestures afterwards as if telling you to finish disrobing yourself by yourself. âI shouldâve never left you, no one else gets to know that this pretty little pussy is mine and mine alone. Got that princess?â
He brings his belt to slap against your thigh when you donât give him a reply immediately, to which you soon nod your head.
âLet me hear your words baby girl.â His hands slide down to his boxers, jerking himself off as if to tease you as you couldnât fully picture how he was fisting his cock right now.
âIâm yours Shoto, nobody elseâs. Only ever yours.â Youâre a whimpering mess and you try to cling to him desperately. He lets out a low chuckle before pulling his boxers fully down and letting his cock spring free.
Todoroki settles himself in between your legs, savouring a taste of your slick before angling his body back up so you were face to face, leaving wet kisses down your neck but biting at all the sweet spots he knew too well.
âGonna mark you so that everybody knows that you belong to me.â His voice whispered against your skin, the tip of his member prodding against your folds; sliding up and down against you for some friction.
Shoto made his way back up from your nipples to your mouth before pressing his lips against you hungrily. He settled his hips neatly against yours and you instinctively wrapped your thighs around him as he pushed inside of you. Moaning into the kiss with each thrust until he completely bottomed out inside of you. You felt so full and right, you were Todorokiâs.
âGod princess I forgot how much you felt like you were made for me.â Todoroki grunts as he begins to set a pace for himself, entangling his hands in your hair and tugging slightly so he has free reign over your neck for every bite and mark he saw fit. âIsnât that right baby?â
âYes- fuck me Shoto Iâm all yours.â You dig your nails into his back, hard enough to leave marks tomorrow. Shoto starts pistoning his hips into you and you both canât help but groan at the friction of your two bodies melding together.
Shoto slides his hand up your body until he reached the small of your back, arching you at a deeper angle into him as he fucked you directly into the bed. The sound it made only added to the erotic symphony of your bedroom combined with your moans and the wet skin slapping together. You fist your hands into the sheets in fear of clawing Todorokiâs back any more and you swore you couldâve torn the covers.
âDoes that feel good princess? Am I the only one who knows how to make you feel as good as this?â Todorokiâs laugh is almost sinister as he brings his right hand to your clit, making it drop in temperature just to see you squirm.
âYou make me feel so fucking good Shoto- so full I only want you- I only need you. Fuck Iâm gonna-â
âYou gonna come for me princess? Gonna come all around my cock? Good girl, come on come for me.â He whispered into your neck, feeling you tighten around him. Your back arched even further as you came undone around him, pushing himself even further into you to feel you convulse against his cock.
âShit Y/N!â He groans, absolutely exasperated as he comes inside of you. Letting hot spurts of come dribble out from your pussy. His hands slide from your sides and into your hands as intertwines your fingers together. Shoto catches his breath, his bicoloured hair stuck to his forehead with sweat as he leans into your chest- the two of your synchronising your breathing together.
âDid you miss that my baby? Miss me taking care of you like that?â Todoroki showers your fluttering body with kisses as he pulls himself out of you. Your heart raced but also the pang of guilt was there from the phone call from Kirishima.
âI missed you Sho.â
Todoroki took care of your heavily bruised body, apologising for the bruises upon your waist where he gripped you too tightly and covering you up tightly into your old bedsheets to lay together just like the old days.
However Kirishima was just glad he had a lock on his office door. He gripped his phone tightly in his hands after hearing your orgasm brought him to his own. The pretty profanities that fell out your mouth drove him insane. Heâd have to seriously clean himself up after jacking off to your explicit moans from over the phone. Did Todoroki mean to hang up? He didnât care right now, he just cared about good he could still make you feel.
He was going to make you his. Todoroki or not.

The entire ethos of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is captured in the moment when tiny human Melinda May put herself between Skye and the Asgardian goddess of war I think.

After living communally for a while, I have so many questions about how The Bus was run.
Was there a chore wheel? Did they stick it up on the fridge? Did Skye keep turning it to avoid having to clean the bathrooms only for it to be miraculously reset the next time she saw it? The whole plane probably got deep cleaned by SHIELD cleaners whenever they touched down at a base, but shared kitchens and bathrooms need to be swept and wiped down at least twice a week.
Were May and Ward in charge of cleaning the gym equipment? Was that how he got her to spar with him for the first time? Did he teach Skye how to wipe down boxing gloves when she started training?
Fitz and Simmons were definitely in charge of cleaning the lab, so they definitely made their own roomba to clean it for them. Did they name it? The dwarves all have names so they had to have. Did Ward keep tripping over Snowy the Bus Roomba and what did Fitzsimmons make it say when it hit things? What did they make Snowy say when Ward stepped on her!!
How did they order groceries? We see Fitz eating popcorn and pretzels in season 1, and Ward mentions Fitzâs candy stash so how did he GET this stuff?? You canât exactly instacart to âthe mobile command unit in the middle of the Atlantic. Yeah, you see the cloud that looks like a dragon? Keep going and make a right.â Did they do grocery runs? Did they write up a shopping list and send some poor level 1 agent to Costco when they touched down? What counted as SHIELD funded and what was a personal expense? Was May upset when they bought Bigelow green tea with elderberry instead of plain green like she asked for? We see Ward making a sandwich in episode 9 so we know they have fresh food, and Coulson has standards.
Speaking of, what was cooking like? Simmons clearly didnât know Coulson could cook when he made her dinner in season 2, so were communal meals not a thing? Did Coulson just cook for himself and May? How did they hide it?
Where was Coulsonâs candy stash and did he and Fitz keep finding each otherâs candy while searching for new spots to hide theirs? What. Trashy. Processed. Food. Was. Skyeâs. Favorite. And Who Stole It Most Often. I need ANSWERS, Jedmo, ANSWERS

How We Raise Them
This is a birthday gift for the most wonderful human being and writer that I get to have the pleasure of being my friend? @jetaime-jespere you inspire and support me in so many ways. 10/10 would recommend being her friend.Â
This story, of puppy kisses, margaritas, and tooth-rotting domestic!Hotchniss is just for you.Â
Read on AO3
--
Emily always had a knack for caring and nurturing.
The house plants in their home were all bright green, a hobby she had gotten from JJ after too many nights spent fussing over Jack. Jack had seemingly grown up in the blink of an eye - far from the toddling two year old that Aaron had first brought into the office, his steps uneven and hand tightly wrapped around Aaron's finger. He was now almost 17, finally starting to grow into the long, gangly limbs he had no doubt inherited from his father. He was a great kid, but no doubt a teenager now, complete with the home-grown embarrassment for his parents' PDA and a sense of false confidence that he knew better than his parents' combined 80 years of experience.
Jack was starting to take charge of his own schedule, planning out his soccer and baseball practices and time with his girlfriend and was now rarely at home outside of eating dinner and sleeping. Sometimes, they liked to joke that their home was more of a hotel, only utilized for meals and a warm bed.
"He's grown up so fast, Aaron." Emily had lamented, curling a warm leg around his as they listened to Jack pitter around the kitchen before school. Emily had a rare day of no meetings, her new job as Section Chief agreeing well with a more attainable home life balance. Aaron had been teaching at the Academy for two years now and he didn't have his first class until 2 PM, granting the two of them a morning spent lazing in bed while Jack fended for himself before school.
He was old enough to drive now and have a girlfriend, and that fact took Aaron's breath away every time.
Aaron remembers when Jack was born, a wriggly screaming bundle of joy that entered the world with the loudest wail Aaron thought he'd ever heard. Now, he was driving, sending applications to colleges, and in a relationship with a nice girl.
He had grown up so fast.
Now, both of them had a plethora of time - time that used to be spent shuttling Jack from school, practice, and birthday parties between cases, making sure that his homework was fully done, PTA meetings (which Emily insisted on being a part of) and coordinating Jack's schedule with precision, slotting in play dates and trips to the mall to buy new khakis because he shot up like a weed.
All the time spent taking care of Jack, now exchanged for hours searching for different plants and nurturing them until their home was an urban jungle.
So Aaron starts doing some research while Emily is asleep, hoping to bring something a little more difficult than plants to take care of.
Before their entire home had turned into a greenhouse.
--
The house was quiet, too quiet, when Emily arrived home from a day spent in meetings discussing budgets. She was exhausted and would do anything for a glass of red and a foot massage from her loving husband.
"Aaron? I'm home." She calls out, shucking her shoes and purse by the front door.
There was silence that permeated from the house, followed by a sharp yelp from what she can decipher is Jack.
"Jack? Aaron?" She calls out again, following the source of the sound only to be met by an out-of-breath Aaron.
"Hi honey." He says, his breathing heavy as he presses a kiss to her lips in greeting. She cocks an eyebrow suspiciously, glancing over his shoulder to see if Jack would pop out from their den.
"Hey. Is something the matter?"
"No, no. Nothing's the matter." Aaron says, shaking his head. He wrapped his hand around hers, a bright smile on his face and she couldn't help but feel lucky that this is where they had ended up. Married, raising Jack together in a row house in Dupont Circle. Now Jack was nearly an adult - their duties as his parents were slowly dwindling down to providing advice and making sure he made the right decisions.
On those days, when she and Aaron are left in the empty rooms of their house, devoid of Jack's sounds of make believe as he pretended to be an astronaut or a G-Man like his father, she can't help but let a small pang of regret hit her.
She didn't know how much joy she would derive from being his step-mother, and a small part of her wishes that she and Aaron had created a brood of their own.
But it wasn't part of their journey, and she was okay with that.
"I have a surprise for you. Look, I know we've never talked about it..." Aaron starts to ramble, leading her to the den at the back of the house as her confusion grows.
He stops right by the closed door, hearing the shuffling going on on the other side of the door.
"But you're an amazing mother to Jack and I know that he's leaving for college soon. I don't want our house to be quiet."
"Aaron..." She says cautiously. "What did you do?"
The den door swings open, revealing Jack with a bright smile on his face and a small bundle in his arms. The tiny ball of fluff makes a soft mewl in Jack's arms, popping its tiny head up to reveal long floppy ears and the sweetest eyes she thinks she's ever seen. Aaron smiles, dropping her hand to pick up the puppy in Jack's arms and drop it right into hers.
There's a tiny jingle and her fingers brush against cold metal, reaching down to reveal the tag that hung around the puppy's collar.
Finn Hotchner
"This is Finn."
--
It turns out, despite all the research that Aaron had done for puppy rearing, it was still much harder than they had anticipated.
Emily groans as she hears a sharp whine come from their living room, where they had set-up Finn's crate. Aaron was adamant about them crate training Finn, despite the fact that Emily and Jack would have been fine letting Finn sleep with them in their beds.
This was the third, no maybe the fourth time, that night that he had whined in his crate like he had been abandoned on the side of the road instead of sleeping next to their fireplace.
Aaron pops up a sleepy head, eyes blearily adjusting to the faint moonlight streaming from the window and glances as the neon numbers that shone on his bedside table.
5:30 AM
"Good God, does he ever sleep?" Aaron groans as Emily let out a large yawn, patting a soft hand on Aaron's shoulder to tell him to go back to sleep.
"I've got him." Emily says as Aaron sinks back under the covers, quickly drifting back to sleep as Emily rolls her eyes and throws on her robe. She pads out into the living room, her soft footsteps enough to catch Finn's attention and get his cries to stop.
"Hey sweet boy." She coos, letting him out of his crate as he pattered out, his limbs still floppy at 10 weeks as he let out a large yawn, Emily's heart melting as he curled up by her ankles. He was clearly just desperate for attention.
More specifically, desperate for her attention.
Finn had latched on to her, claiming her as his human the moment Aaron had placed him in her arms almost three weeks ago. The puppy was always quick to dart to Emily when she came home, eager to expose his belly to her for pets after a long day at work. He followed her around at home, hearing the soft tapping of his paws against their hardwood floor as she cooked dinner or made coffee in the morning. He curled up right at her feet in her office as she worked through mountains of paperwork, content on sleeping right at her feet as she filled out reports.
"Come on." She coaxes, moving from her spot by his crate to let him out into their back garden.
The sun was softly breaking in the horizon, the long summer days already evident by the soft light that streaked the sky. Finn zoomed out onto the grass, quickly tripping over the limbs he still didn't have much control over and Emily let a small smile play on her lips.
After the initial shock of the fact that they now had a dog, despite almost no previous discussion prior, Emily found herself completely enamored with the puppy. She found herself thinking of the tiny ball of fluff often, taking time out of her day to check the camera they had installed in their living room to see what he was up to when they were at work (it was mostly sleeping) and watched with a fond smile as Aaron let him out during lunch. He would crouch down, despite the hell she was sure it caused on his knees that were now worn with age and trauma, and play tug with Finn or attempt to train him in what would only cause frustration for both of them.
She had always seen the softness that lined Aaron's interactions, despite the steely demeanor that had hardened like calluses after too many tragedies. But she saw the gentle way in which he raised Jack, always insistent on talking and sharing - a far cry from the slamming doors and harsh hits that were consequences of his father's temper. She felt it in the way his hands drifted to her lower back when he felt a need for connection. She heard it in the soft tones that he'd use when talking to children, a sparkle in his eye as he interacted with them.
It had filled her heart with a new measure of love she didn't think was possible, watching him soften to Finn in a way she never expected.
Aaron yawns, stretching his limbs to ease the sleep from them when he realizes that his wife's side of the bed had gone cold. He glances up at the clock and realizes it had been almost two hours since Emily had gotten up to let Finn out. A bloom of warmth grows in his chest when he realizes where they could probably be.
He finds her on their couch, stretched across in a deep slumber as Finn dozed quietly on her chest. It was a position he had found her in often, Finn always opting to sleep anywhere where he was physically touching Emily.
Another Hotchner wrapped around her finger.
When Emily is jolted from sleep by a loud clink, the warmth of Finn is nowhere to be found. She props herself up, sounds slowly coming into focus and she can hear the sounds of Aaron's soft whispering and a familiar scratching of utens. There's the sweet aroma of coffee wafting from the kitchen, and she follows the scent to catch Aaron red-handed.
Aaron is reading the paper on the counter, not noticing Emily walk in, and slips a small piece of his bacon to Finn who is sitting patiently by his side.
When she chastises him, he just laughs and passes her the cup of coffee he prepares for her on Saturday mornings.
"This is the only way I can get him to love me, Em."
--
As it turns out, having a puppy was a little too similar to having a baby.Â
Their days now revolved around Finn - their sleep schedules were disrupted by crying in the middle of the night, their daily list of tasks including someone having to be home to let him out every three hours whether it be them or a pet sitter and on top of Aaronâs classes and Emilyâs workload. It had only been a month since they had gotten Finn and they were exhausted.
Emily had never had a dog and Aaron had never grown up with any animals, so both of them severely underestimated the amount of work that went into keeping a tiny ball of fluff alive and healthy.Â
Aaron finds her in the living room, sprawled out on the couch with relief on her face at the silence she worked so hard to cultivate amidst the chaos.
âHe finally passed out.â Emily whispers and Aaron eyes the puppy who is sleeping peacefully in his crate after being forced in for a nap.Â
He produces a margarita from behind his back, salt lining the rim.
âI knew I married you for a reason.â She says happily, taking a grateful sip and moaning in delight as the sweet liquid hit her tongue and the tequila stung her throat. He clinked his own glass of whiskey to hers before taking a seat next to her, both of them needing the alcohol after weeks of sleep deprivation and tending to Finnâs every need.Â
âI think weâre getting too old for this.â Emily muses, watching Finn shift in his sleep.Â
âI donât know about you, but I feel young and spry.â Aaron jokes, pressing his lips to her shoulder as she takes another sip of her margarita. His lips slowly trail from her shoulder, dancing across her collarbone before settling at the base of her neck. He feels Emily tilt her head slightly to expose more of her skin to him and a breathy moan escape from her lips.Â
âSo this is why you made me a margarita.â Aaron knew that certain kinds of alcohol produced different reactions from Emily. Wine always made her sleepy, whiskey always made her angry.Â
Tequila, on the other hand, made her very mouthy.
âI just thought my beautiful wife deserved a drink.â He mumbles into her skin, taking the glass from her hand and placing their drinks on the console table behind them. âAlso because Jack is sleeping over at Tylerâs tonight and Finn is finally asleep.âÂ
It was the first free night they had in a while, out of earshot of their very perceptive teenage son and Aaron thought that deserved some sort of celebration, one that hopefully involved making her scream and not caring who heard.Â
âSo no ulterior motives?â She teases, but Aaronâs lips are very persistent against the pulse in her throat.Â
âNone whatsoever.âÂ
--
They barely make it back to their bedroom, clothes hastily strewn against the carpeted bedroom floor with Emilyâs legs straddled across his waist and his fingers dancing across her underwear when he hears it.Â
âYouâve got to be kidding me.â Aaron groans when a familiar high-pitched whine comes from the living room. They freeze like two teenagers caught by their parents, hoping that the whine would just be Finn waking up for a brief moment before going back to sleep.Â
It isnât long before Finnâs wailing at the top of his tiny lungs and Emily giggles, hopping off his lap as Aaron flops dramatically back onto their bed.Â
âItâs your turn.â Emily says, pushing Aaron towards the direction of their door as he pouts like a petulant child. Aaron grumbles as he goes towards the living room, slightly annoyed when Finn bounds out of his crate like he hadnât just interrupted the one solitude moment that theyâve had in over a month.Â
âKid, I could kill for less than this.â
--
Finn slides into their family like the final piece of a puzzle they didn't know was missing.
He quickly becomes Jack's best friend, chasing him around in the garden and attaching himself to Jackâs hip when he was home. When Jack leaves for college a year after they get Finn, Emily finds him on Jackâs bed, a sullen look in Finnâs eyes at the profound absence of his playmate. Â
Aaron finds an unusual confidant in Finn. There are nights that are difficult, the memories of Foyet amplifying the phantom ache in his chest, especially when Jack graduates high school and when he gets accepted into both Georgetown and Yale.Â
He raises Jack to grow up just fine and he still hates, even after all these years, that Haley wasnât around to see the kind of man Jack has become. Despite losing Haley at such a young age, too many of Jackâs mannerisms made him believe that he could have only gotten those traits through genetics. The way his left eyebrow twitched when he got angry, one of Haleyâs tells when she was beginning to lose her temper. Jack fidgeted with a pen, clipped between his fingers, the same way Haley did when she was concentrating on a test back when she first caught his attention at 16.Â
On those nights, he steals away to the kitchen and sips a fingerful of whiskey. It was a habit heâd developed years before, a quiet moment just for himself. He was used to doing it alone.Â
Until they had Finn. He remembers the first time Finn had done it, a floppy 6 month old with disproportionate limbs and an attitude that was driving both him and Emily crazy.Â
He could only ruin so many of their expensive leather shoes before they had a problem with it.Â
It had been the night of Jackâs graduation and Aaron poured himself his whiskey, raising a glass to an empty kitchen with a hollow ache in his chest on days like today.Â
On days that she should have gotten to see.Â
âWe did it, Haley.âÂ
Finn had walked in then, intrigued by the clinking of the glasses that was coming from the kitchen. It was as if he sensed the sadness that lived in Aaron, walking up to give gentle licks to his palm and refusing to leave Aaronâs side as he sat at the dining room table nursing his drink.Â
He hasnât spent a night in the kitchen without Finn since.Â
But despite the fact that they knew that Finn loved all of them, Jack and Aaron both knew that there was something special about the way that Finn loved Emily.Â
Finn was her shadow - always glued to her side whenever she was around. He often favored Emilyâs company on the couch over anyoneâs, huffing in disapproval when Aaron would come over to sit next to Emily. He was a constant presence in any room that Emily was in, either laying at her feet or pressed up against her somehow. They had often joked that Finn would choose Emily over boiled chicken, which aside from Emily was Finnâs greatest love.Â
When Elizabeth dies, suddenly and with no warning, Emily is inconsolable. She had always wished that their relationship was better than it was, despite the fact that it had improved in spades as the years went on. But it didnât stop her from wishing for just one more day with her mother.Â
Finn is steadfast by her side from the moment she finds out. They all hovered over her, but Finn was practically tied by an invisible tether to Emily, refusing to let her leave his sight. He stays still when she cries into his fur on a quiet afternoon, grief heavy in the air. He licks the tears from her face and lays on her lap when their house is full of guests giving their condolences. He doesnât bark at Aaron, like he normally did when he was hugging Emily, and instead lets her find comfort in his arms.Â
âEmily? Have you seen Finn?â She hears Aaron call out from their kitchen. She glances around their office and is about to call out that he wasnât with her when she hears a loud crash and an exasperated Finn Hotchner.
She opens her office door to find Finn staring up at her, his fur caked in dirt with a trail of mud tracked on their hardwood floor. Jack comes into view, home from college for the summer, with a sheepish smile on his face. They had probably played with the hose in the garden - one of Finnâs favorite past times on hot days. She can hear Aaron yelling expletives in the kitchen and she simply bursts into laughter.Â
This was her family.
Mud on hardwood floors and all.
And she wouldn't change them for the world.

the liquor had gotten to your head.
your boss had insisted on a round of drinks tonight to celebrate the project that had just wrapped up, but no one in the team was in the mood. but knowing his head-strong approach, all your co-workers merely glanced at each other unhappily when the clock struck 5 and got up to follow him.
fast forward three hours and here you were, drunk off your ass in a neighbourhood far from your own. it was friday and you didnât have anywhere to be tomorrow but you werenât in the mood to sit in a taxi for the half hour it would take to get back home. you were feeling nauseous as it was, stomach uneasy from too many cups of coffee and the all-nighter youâd pulled in preparation for todayâs presentation. it had all gone well, it always did knowing your team. but you were a worrier, and the last few weeks of working on this project had done bad things to you. forget the possible promotion your boss had hinted at, you just wanted to get by without liver damage for the rest of the weekend.
âhurry, hurry.â you told the first cab driver that pulls over. you glanced nervously over your shoulder, hoping your boss doesnât spot your face standing on the sidewalk. you had made up such an elaborate lie to get away before they left the bar for a second round.
drunk and tired, you didnât realize the address you told the driver isnât your own.
you just got out at the corner and pay, bowing goodbye absently. then you turned around, fumbling when the passcode for the front door doesnât work.
âwhat the fuck.â you muttered under your breath. you sighed and pressed a hand to your forehead. donât say i forgot the passcode.
ây/n?â
you turned around, wondering why your female roommateâs voice was so deep today, or why she was just getting home now, too. but then you felt it. two warm, sturdy hands that clasped your upper arms. and then you saw them. dark, gentle eyes, hidden under a baseball cap and a mask, but you would recognize those eyes anywhere. you smiled. âwhen did you get here, baby?â
yoongi cleared his throat, cheeks turning a bit pink. in your drunkenness, you forgot yoongi isnât baby, not yet. it had only been about three months of flirting between you two, more phone calls and top-secret dinner dates than anything serious. you understood that. yoongiâs a big man, and you were just lucky enough to have met him through a mutual friend.
you were simple and he was charming, but for whatever reason, he looked at you like youâre made of gold.
âthis is where i live, y/n-ssi. remember?â yoongi reminded you lightly. your mouth fell open dramatically. ah. you fucked up. no wonder youâd felt a little funny telling the driver your address.
âoh. oh!â you blurted, looking around quickly. your eyes searched for any lingering people, cameras in bushes, that type of thing. suddenly, you felt a lot more sober. âshit. iâm sorry yoongi-ssi. let me justââ
you pulled up an app on your phone, ready to call your roommate to come get you instead of risking lingering around and being caught. but before you could do that, yoongiâs hand gently tapped your shoulder. you turned and he was standing with the door half-open. âjust come in.â he said, hand trailing down your arm to take your hand in his.
blushing like a teenager on their very first walk of shame, you follow him past the lobby to the elevators. you canât help but be a little shocked at all the marble and sleek steel around you. of course you knew of bts before you met yoongi, but you worked a very busy corporate job that made it hard to have hobbies. but even with all the small promotions you had gotten in the last ten years, you knew you would never afford luxury like this. min yoongi was rich rich. you realize.
when you glance at him, you suddenly feel nervous. you had been upright with him since day one about keeping the flirting polite and secret. you had a good job of your own and were very independent. yoongi liked that, heâd told you multiple times. you both liked to take relationships slow, mature and sensible adults as you were. but now youâd done it. youâd showed up and invaded his space, without the two of you ever discussing âdatingâ. as far as you knew, you were just another fling of this big superstar. perhaps you were making him uncomfortable? you two hadnât even held hands until now.
you looked down at your clasped hands. yoongi was looking at something on his phone to bide the ride up to his floor. he was dressed in simple black sweats and a t-shirt but there was a rolex on his wrist. if you moved your wrist just a little, the cold sweat on your body would smudge the glass. are those diamonds? like real fucking diamonds? you wondered, staring at the shining jewels around the glass.
âsomething wrong, y/n-ssi?â yoongi asked. you jolted, pulling your hand back.
ân-no! nothing at all!â you replied a beat too late, mind still fuzzy. man, you really needed a nap.
yoongi looked down, where his rolex-clad hand dangled by his side. then he pulled his mask down, chewing his upper lip. âdo you want me to drop you home?â
just the mention of getting in a car had you feeling nauseous. his home was even further from your place than the bar had been. and now that you know that min yoongi is rich rich, you canât risk it. god, what if i threw up on his, like, hand-crafted leather seats or something?
the elevator dinged and slid open to reveal yoongiâs floor.
you followed him quietly down the long, marble hallway to the very last door. yoongiâs apartment. he glanced at you as he tapped the numbers into the electronic lock. you looked away sharply at the plant outside his neighbourâs house instead. you hadnât seen the code, so why did you feel so guilty?
âsorry to intrude.â you said as you enter his home. yoongi didnât reply, just nudged the pair of guest slippers towards you with his foot. you took off your shoes, watching yoongi with a bit of awe as he strode into the house and turned on the lights. was his back always that broad?
âwhat did you do today?â you asked, cringing at how it sounds like a question a partner would ask.
the sound of the fridge opening and closing answered you. a second later, yoongi appeared behind you. he lightly tapped your elbow as he came around you to sit on the large sofa. you followed, sitting down at the edge of your seat.
âi worked in the studio today. weâre preparing for our new album.â yoongi answered in short but polite sentences. he opened a can of beer in his hand. âhow was yours? you mentioned you had a presentation today.â
you flushed. you couldnât believe he remembered that, you had told the deadline for your project that weeks ago. âit was good. we went for drinks afterwards.â you explained, your leg bouncing at your side. âwhat do you usually do when you get home?â
yoongi set the can on the coffee table. he leaned into the sofa, facing you. âdepends on the schedule we had that day. if iâm tired iâll just eat, wash up, and go to bed. if iâm feeling good, i do all of that plus a drink or two.â
âyou feel good today?â you asked, your heart jumping to your throat when he smiled against the cushion.
âyes.â yoongi answered, eyes not leaving yours. âi do.â
you cleared your throat. a notification popped up and you glanced down at your phone, happy for a split second away from yoongiâs eyes that make you feel hot inside. your roommate was asking where you were. âmy roommate can come get me soon.â
âiâll order us something to eat. text her once weâre done eating.â
you nodded numbly, looking at the can of beer on the table rather than at yoongi. alcohol really was the bane of your existence. you were so embarrassed to look this way in front of yoongi.
you and yoongi engaged in some more small talk once he ordered food. he asked you what you would like to watch on netflix and handed you the remote to put it on. in the meantime, he said he would go get your food. you felt embarrassed when he said your food. it was a reminder that you showed up uninvited and that he was probably just too nice to kick you out.
your sadness seemed to amplify the tiredness. without knowing, you drifted off in the few minutes between when you put the show on and yoongiâs return.
when you woke, there was something soft but firm in your face like a pillow. it smelled like laundry detergent and feels warm and cozy. you buried your face into it, sighing in comfort. a moment later, you felt fingertips gently card through your hair. was that your roommate pulling you in for one of her random cuddle sessions?
you adjusted again, pushing yourself up against your pillow. you were about to drift back asleep when a deep voice filled your ears. âdo you want to eat yet?â yoongi asked.
you startled, sitting up as fast as you could. you looked down, horrified. you were laying on top of yoongiâs chest, your head having been tucked in the space between his neck and shoulder. yoongi, who had been scrolling on his phone until now, turned his phone off at your worried expression. âwhat is it, y/n-ssi?â
you grabbed your own phone off the coffee table to check the time. itâs 10:30 now. your roommate was probably asleep by now. and here you were, still drunk and laying on top of a man who wasnât even your boyfriend yet. shit, shit, shit.
âiâm sorry. i really need to leave.â you said, climbing off yoongi. your eyes catch on an unopened pizza box on the armchair next to the sofa, feeling extremely guilty. this was terrible. you ruined everything.
yoongi was kind, too kind for you. he took you in despite the risk of cameras catching you outside his apartment. he bought you dinner just for you to fall asleep and not let him eat it. your own place was too far from here, a taxi would cost a ton. and on top of it all, you werenât even dating. what the hell were you supposed to do now?
âiâll drop you.â yoongiâs voice was back to normal, no longer sleepy. as expected, he didnât try to make you stay. whether that was out of courtesy or just because you were annoying to him, it burned. âbut arenât you hungry?â he asked.
on cue, your stomach grumbled.
yoongi laughed. âsit down, iâll warm some up for us.â
the two of you ate quietly, awkwardly.
when you were done, you stood up. fuck it, you would have to pay the big taxi fare and endure the nausea. you couldnât bother yoongi anymore. so you said a quick thanks for dinner without looking him in the eye, ready to run for it.
ây/n.â yoongiâs voice stopped you. âare you sure you want to go home?â
yoongiâs cheeks were pink when he looked at you. he scratched the back of his neck. âyou can spend the night here, if you like.â when your eyes widened, his did, too. âi have a guest room. a guest room with a bathroom and everything.â
still drunk and crushing too hard on min yoongi, you smiled. âokay.â
but as you took a step towards him, you nearly slipped on the polished surface of the hallway. you groaned as he caught you, embarrassed. you were going to kill your boss for making you drink this much.
steadily, yoongi guided you to the guest bedroom and sat you on the bed. you wait for him to return and when he does, itâs with a packet of makeup wipes and a brand-new toothbrush still in its pack. purple. you noticed as he set the latter on the duvet. interesting.
you startled when his hand cupped your face, guiding you back to look at him. âclose your eyes.â he whispered, face only a few inches from yours. you let him wipe off the light makeup you wore every day to work. when you opened your eyes, yoongi was giving you that same look from earlier. like you were something special, something whose true value only he knows. like you were made of gold.
your eyes fell to his lips. you inhaled, ready to take your chances.
yoongi closed the space, kissing you sweetly. his hands cupped your face, and yours wound around his broad back. it felt perfect.
when you separated, the two of you were breathless. seeing each otherâs flushed faces, you laughed together.
when you come back from borrowing yoongiâs shower, the lights in the house were off except for yoongiâs room. he smiled as you slid into bed beside him. he reached over you to turn the lights off, then pulled you in against his side. your heart fluttered when you felt him tuck the duvet in around you.
âyoongi?â you asked. under your ear, his heartrate got a little faster. he mustâve thought you were asleep. âweâreâweâre a thing right?â you ventured, hoping all of this was real. that min yoongi wasnât the kind of guy who could do this for every fling.
yoongi laughed under his breath. âobviously, baby.â he replied, kissing the top of your head. you smiled as you fall asleep beside him.

ä¸ĺ¤äšć Light and Night) Osbornâs 5⊠Inspiration: Black VS Black [éťč˛ĺŻšĺł] Date Translation (Prologue)
âCat food, cat toys; everything was all set and ready⌠except for a cat.â
*Light and Night Master-list | Osbornâs Personal Masterlist *Spoiler free: Translations will remain under cut *Join the Light & Night Discord (ďźžâ˝ďźž)~ ⪠*This 5⊠Inspiration has 6 Endings!! *Osbornâs tag will be #For Night, For Freedom *Requested by anon! You can check my on-going requests and more here!
It was only when I stood before Osborn's door that I realized the startling fact: this was the first time I'd ever been to his place.
A few days ago, Osborn's neighbour entrusted their cat to him because they were going to be gone on a business trip. And shortly after that had happened, I'd received Osborn's obligatory cat-lover "Invitation".
And thus, that was how I now found myself before his door, with the glee of having received his invitation swiftly being replaced by nerves.
I hesitated, pulling our previous chat back up on my phone to double-check the address.
It was then that the door opened with a click.
Osborn: Oh? Already here?
A familiar voice sounded, making me abruptly raise my head.
Osborn was leaning sideways against the door, staring at me with an impish glint in his eyes.
MC: I just got here and I was just gonna check if this was the right place.
Osborn: Check?
Osborn: My bad. Looks like I'm going to have to remember which door it is next time.
MC: No need, no need. I can tell which door's yours now!
Osborn: Then, come in?
I quickly nodded and followed him in.
ââââââââââââââ
â
All Osborn had on was a simple black singlet and a pair of casual sweatpants.
I'd rarely seen him in such a casual state of dress, so I couldn't stop my lingering eyes as I drank the sight of him in.
Osborn: Want something to drink?
MC: Nope, no need!
Osborn paused for a while after hearing my reply, but he continued pouring the water into the glass.
When the glass was filled, he turned around and leaned closer to me with a mischievous smile.
Osborn: You seem nervous today.
I felt my face burn. I swallowed my saliva and attempted to still my racing heart.
MC: Only because this is my first time in your house, and everything feels so foreign...
I averted my gaze, purposefully trying to look relaxed and at ease as I surveyed his home.
The living room wasnât overly decorated and it was painted in a simple, minimalistic, colour. It was overall simple and refreshing. That being said, there didnât seem to be a trace of there being a cat here at all.
MC: Right. Where's the cat?
Osborn handed me the glass of water before lazily sweeping his gaze across the living room.
Osborn: Mitt? Mitt!
MC: Mitt? ...Is that its name?
Osborn: Yeah. Its owner calls it Mitchell, but thatâs a bit of a mouthful, so I just call it Mitt. It seems to understand me when I do, anyway.
MC: That's⌠Well, okay thenâŚ
Osborn: It was still slinking around here earlier. Might have run off into a corner somewhere.
His gaze snapped back to me. He suddenly raised a brow, gesturing at the backpack I was carrying.
Osborn: Just what did you stuff into that bag of yours to make it so bulky?
Osborn: And you've been carrying it this entire while too. Isn't it heavy?
Upon his mentioning of the backpack, I then recalled with a start about the âbusinessâ I was here for today.
I quickly placed the backpack onto the sofa, taking out the many cat necessities Iâd packed in, enthusiastically showing them all to him.
MC: Look! This is a cat food bowl that I especially picked out! It looks like the gigantic face of a cat. Isnât it cute?
MC: I also bought two flavours of cat food since I didnât know which one itâd like. Iâve got salmon flavour and chicken flavour here.
MC: Oh, and this! I thought it might like it!
I picked up the cat teaser wand and shook it, ringing the silver bell attached to it and releasing a crisp sound into the air.
Suddenly, a small black head poked out from the kitchen door. Its eyes were wide and round as it stared curiously at the wand in my hand.
MC: Look, Osborn! It came!
Osborn: Looks like it really does like this one.
Then, it averted its gaze from the wand, giving us both a glance.
However, it disappeared from our sight as quickly as lightning before we barely had the chance to blink twice.
MC: ...Eh? And you're gonna leave just like that?
I shook the cat teaser wand again, but it never once reappeared.
Osborn looked at the items laid out on the table, frowning slightly, his expression tinged with a faint hint of confusion.
He picked up a small cat post.
Osborn: And what's this supposed to be?
MC: Itâs a small cat post! It can be used to satisfy a catâs natural innate tendency to want to climb everything and anything they see.
MC: It can also prevent them from messing the house up from all the climbing up and down theyâre inclined to do.
Osborn: Oh. This one's well-suited for it.
MC: Haha, is it that playful?
Osborn: Hmm. Well, the owner said that their house was always in constant chaos thanks to it. They also said that their cat would normally be a little more obedient when it is in a new environment.
Osborn hesitated for a moment as doubt and a bit of helplessness slipped into his voice.
Osborn: But maybe my place isn't exactly new to it. Obedient, huh⌠Don't really see that happening.
MC: That bad? Maybe it wouldnât attempt to demolish the house with all it's jumping around with all these toys here now?
MC: I even prepared yarn balls and stuff!
Osborn: A new boss is in office, and this one seems terribly well prepared.
MC: Of course I am! As soon as I heard that you were going to be temporarily housing a cat, I immediately went to place some orders online.
Osborn: You were looking forward to it THAT much?
Osborn: Looks like I'm gonna have to have it over as a guest more often.
My face flushed a slight red as I shoved the cat food bowl into his arms.
MC: No slacking! We're setting these all up together!
Osborn froze for a bit before taking the cat's food bowl from me.
Osborn: No problemo. I'm at your service.
MC: Ahem. Then, where would it be better for us to place all of these?
Osborn looked at the area for a while before slightly raising his chin and gesturing in the direction of the kitchen.
Osborn: The kitchen's entrance, I guess. It's almost always hanging out there.
After determining how and where we were going to set the whole ensemble up, we immediately got down to work.
Osborn casually opened a bag of cat food, pouring it into the cat food bowl I was holding. Following that, I tore off the plastic wrapping that covered the scratching posts, putting the simple cat post together with Osborn.
Cat food, cat toys; everything was all set and ready⌠except for a cat.
I looked all over, but I saw neither hide nor hair of it.
I attempted to call it out by calling it by its name of âMittâ. Osborn had also attempted to shake the cat teasing wand in an attempt to lure it out, but we didnât see even so much as a whisker of it.
Osborn: Itâs usually ready to jump at anything and everything, but now itâs shy?
MC: Looks like it went into hiding. How about we split up and look for it?
Osborn: Okay. Iâll take the rooms on the north and you can take those on the south.
MC: Okay!
I searched for a good long while, but it wasnât in either the kitchen or the study.
I was just about to go over to Osborn to ask about how his search was going when I suddenly noticed a small room right next to the study.
The door was also cracked slightly open.
MC: Huh. Did it go inside here?
ââââââââââââââ
â
I gently pushed the door open and walked in. I was instantly greeted by display shelves that spanned the entire wall the moment I walked in.
Inside the many display shelves were racing trophies of all shapes and sizes. There were also photos of Osborn and his teammates, along with several race car models that were modelled after their real-life counterparts.
MC: Is this Osborn's collection room?
I couldnât help but stop short. I suddenly caught sight of a black shadow seated atop a shelf.
MC: ...Mitt!
It was just about to get a paw on a red and white racing car model inside the shelf.
Probably having noticed the movement on my end, it tilted its head to look at me, its paw suspended in mid-air.
MC: What⌠What is it trying to do? Don't tell me...
I gasped in surprise, subconsciously holding my breath in nervousness.
Weâd interlocked gazes for only a second before its ever-vigilant amber eyes flashed.
It lightly and resolutely batted its paw at the model itâd set its eyes on immediately after.
MC: AH!!
I subconsciously lunged at it, but all I caught was thin air.
The car model fell to the ground with a clatter, shattering into its many compartments with its wheels spinning in the air from the impact.
Upon seeing the result of its actions, Mitt quickly fled from the scene of the âcrimeâ with a satisfied little meow.
MC: Wait!
I didnât manage to stop it in time at all. It all happened in a split second, and now I was the only one left in the room with the overturned car model.
What am I to do now?
The cat caused an incident! What should I do?

home feels like you | naruto x fem!reader
hereâs my entry for the konoha simps server collab with @bakubabes-hatakeâ; prompts are roommate au and âi was so stupid to make the mistake of falling in love with my best friend.â (i will be making edits to this later lmao)

wordcount: 3.0k
tags: fluff, angst, modern au, healing after a breakup
synopsis: itâs a little hard for him to describe the way he feels these days, but if anyone asked, heâd say that home feels a lot like you.
Naruto didnât wake up that morning to the sound of his alarm blaring through the stillness, or even to streams of early morning sunlight filtering in through his curtains. Yet, he sat up in bed, shirtless, hair askew, with a dry streak of saliva at the corner of his mouth.Â
Even though he searched for what had woken him up so abruptly, Naruto found nothing.Â
Blinking back at him in bright neon green, his alarm clock read 5:23 am, approximately thirty-seven minutes until it was time for his morning run. Not one to miss out on the chance to get more sleep, Naruto was just about to turn over in bed, stuff his head back under his pillow and be dead to the world once moreâthen he heard it.
Harsh whispers and...sniffling.
The Uzumaki remained silent, sleep suddenly gone from his eyes. His gaze was trained onto his bedroom door, knowing that you, his roommate, were probably just a few feet beyond it. Youâd been an early riser for as long as heâd known you and Naruto imagined you were shuffling into the kitchen to make yourself some coffee before heading to work for the day.Â
This time, however, it seemed your peaceful morning routine had been interrupted by an unexpected and seemingly unpleasant phone call.Â
Naruto listened close while you spoke hurriedly into the receiver, a rush of words garbled together and unintelligible due your shaky voice that pierced through paper thin walls. Even from where he laid, Naruto could tell that you were just barely holding it together; it sounded like you were a moment away from crying.Â
Unable to sit still, he pulled off the covers and followed after your voice. The entire apartment beyond his bedroom was cloaked in darkness, so much so that he could barely see his own two feet. The only source of light came from your cell phone that illuminated a single corner of the room where you sat.
âHey...you uh, you doinâ okayââ Truly he hadnât meant to be so loud, but his voice boomed regardless, causing you to flinch. Not to mention, it sounded like heâd gargled nails just five minutes prior with how gravely his voice was. Great going, Naruto, he thought to himself.
He cleared his throat, whispering, âSorry, I didnât mean to startle you, heh.âÂ
You sat curled up on the sofa, with your phone wedged between your shoulder and ear, but it didnât seem like anyone was talking anymore. With a sigh, you hung up the phone, plunging the room in muted darkness.
âIâm fine,â you muttered. â...donât worry about it.â
Bypassing his curious look, you trudged back into your bedroom. It seemed he would not be getting an answer anytime soon. Naruto blinked slowly, scrubbing a hand through his hair as he reentered his room as well. But the more he thought about you, the more unsettled he became.
You had moved in with him six months ago after Sasuke left for business overseas. But even since then, Naruto still only knew as much about you as he had when he first met you, which was literally next to nothing. He could respect that you were a private person, but he still felt it was a little ridiculous that you both shared a refrigerator and heâd had to stalk your Facebook page just to find out your birthday.Â
The two of you had lived as nothing more than strangers for an entire six months, but in all that time, he had never heard you sound like that...
His curiosity had gotten the better of him. Normally he wouldn't be so bothered, but with Sasuke away and Sakura busy with her own life, he was beginning to feel as if he had nothing else to steal his attention. Naruto was only now realizing how invested he was in the lives of his friends, more so than his own even. Being involved was second nature.
Two and a half weeks later, the reason behind your odd behavior made itself known. In fact, it quite literally stood at your shared doorstep.Â
It was a normal Saturday night, and for once he was home instead of gaming the entire night away over at Kibaâs place. Naruto had been in the kitchen making himself yet another cup of instant ramen when a knock came at the door, shattering the evening stillness. Before he could even set down his chopsticks, you had bounded down the hall with a duffel bag slung over your shoulder. He had never seen you so upset, but your anger was unmistakable as you wrenched the door open with enough force to rattle it on its hinges.
âHereâs your shit.â
âCan we at least talk abouââ
âNo!â You slammed the door shut in the face of⌠whoever that was.
Naruto came around the counter to stand in the hall. He didnât bother hiding the fact that he was so blatantly eavesdropping on you. Was there really a point in hiding?Â
You turned in time to catch him out of your peripheral, frown still set on your lips, though it softened a bit when you caught sight of him watching you. âYouâre pretty nosy.â Was your only remark, but despite the edge in your words, it didnât sound like you were annoyed at him, almost like you had expected it.
âWell, can you blame me?â Naruto scratched his neck sheepishly, âYou were actinâ pretty weird, so of course I got curious, what did ya expect?â
You snorted. âSo, thatâs your perfect defense?â
Naruto gave you the goofiest smile in response. âGimme a minute and Iâll think of a better one!â
With a laugh you slumped into one of the bar stools near the counter. You hadnât stopped laughing at him for another minute, but then⌠your teetering laughter slowly turned into sobs. You shoved your face behind the palms of your hands, but Naruto could see the way your entire body shook. The sound of your crying startled him so bad, he nearly choked on his own spit. Every thought running through his mind came to a screeching halt. It was as if the sounds that escaped your mouth was set to a frequency that would break his heart to pieces over and over again.Â
âH-Hey,â Naruto reached over, placing a heavy arm over your shoulder and pulling you into his chest. âItâs...gonna be okay, okay? Whatever it is, itâll work itself out. Please, donât cry...â
After another moment, your sobs quieted down to a whimper, your cheeks were still wet and Naruto was about seventy percent sure there was a little snot on his tee shirt. Nevertheless, he remained still until you were ready to pull away.
âUm, thanksâŚâ you whispered, lips accidentally grazing his collarbone. Not a second later, you released him, and wiped at your eyes with your shirt sleeve.Â
âWanna talk about it?â
âIâum...I guess I owe you some sort of explanation, considering I just used you a human tissue.âÂ
Using humor to cope, that was familiar.Â
You were trying to lighten the mood, Naruto could tell, so he went along with your joke and laughed. âYeah, I guess havinâ you tell me is better than me playinâ spy, huh?âÂ
He reached for his forgotten cup of noodles. They were a little soggy after being neglected for so long, but that didnât stop him from slurping up the entire thing in record time.Â
âAh! That hit the spot!â
You laughed again, sniffling as you did so and for a moment he was captured.Â
That watery smile, the wrinkle in your eyelids, the upward curve of your lips, even the very sound you made, all of it caught him by the throat. It was almost like he was just now realizing that you were a girl. And a really pretty one, at that. Naruto gulped and looked away. He wasnât sure what was happening to him or why he was just noticing how cute you were, but he shook his head as if to dispel some of the mental fog.
âThat was my boyfriendâex boyfriend, I mean.âÂ
âEx boyfriend?â he repeated.
âYeah, um, we kind of doâerâdid the long distance thing...he lives a few cities away, goes to a completely different university so umâŚanyway I was just uh, returning his clothes....â
You seemed to be struggling to find the right words, likely still processing everything that had happened. At times like this, Naruto was thankful that he and Hinata had ended things so amicably. Not everyone had the luxury. Relationships were hard as it is, and when it was over, picking back up like nothing happened was nigh impossible. There was always something left behind as a reminder, be it scars, old wounds in the form of memories. Sakura had once dubbed it ârelationship residueâ.
âHey, donât push yourself!â Naruto offered a grin and a thumbs up. âCâmon, letâs get your mind off it. We can watch a movie, or play some music, orâŚâ he looked around the apartment in search of something you both could do but came up short.
âI appreciate the gesture, Naruto, but I think Iâm just going to head to bed early. Iâm a little tired.â
You gave a small smile, and though it didnât reach your eyes, Naruto could do nothing but watch after your retreating back yet again.Â
He didnât like the helpless feeling that latched onto him. He would always and forever be doer. He couldn't just sit idly by while you went through this hard time alone. Though he kept quiet, he was determined to make you feel better somehow. He never wanted to see you cry like that ever again.
Following that night, the dynamic between the two of you had changed. Naruto, naturally friendly as he was, made it his first priority to check up on you and see how you were doing. And instead of heading straight to your bedroom upon returning from class or work, nowadays, you spent your free time in Narutoâs company. Whether it be just by watching the evening news together or doing homework in the same area. For the first time in months, you two were acting more and more like roommatesâmaybe even friends. You still hadn't opened up much about your ex boyfriend, but that was okay. Naruto knew that as long as you understood he was there to support you, that you were not alone, one day youâd be able to speak about it with him.
A change in weather seemed to follow the change in pace. Winter was fast approaching and with it came colder mornings, frosted leaves that crunched under foot, and a need to remain bundled up lest one catch a cold. Naruto had just returned home to find that you had made a hot pot. The entire apartment was filled with such a delicious smell that had his mouth watering and stomach grumbling in askance.
âHey there!â you called from the kitchen. âI just finished up, grab a bowl and get some.â
He didnât need to be told twice. Naruto quickly shrugged out of his coat and scarf, doing a little shimmy, then grabbed a bowl from the cabinet. âIt smells sooo good~â
His eagerness managed to pull a laugh out of you. You quickly handed him the ladle. âGo nuts...well...not too crazy.â Knowing Naruto, it was safe to say he would inhale the entire pot if left up to his own devices, youâd come to learn this the hard way.Â
âYeah, yeah.â he said, scooping himself a hefty serving. He wasted no time at all, digging in with much gusto. âDamn!! This is hella good! Youâre such a great cook, roomie.â
You were unsure whether he was merely flattering you for that sake of flattery or if he truly enjoyed the meal, but you accepted his compliments as gracefully as you could manage.Â
Eating dinner like this was nice. Naruto made for good company. For the time being, you let yourself enjoy the simplicity of the moment, the utter lack of expectation, the vibrant energy that came with mutual understanding, all of it made you feel much warmer inside. You knew it wasnât just the hot pot.
Several more nights were spent just like this, relishing the friendly companionship that was slowly being fostered between you two. It wasnât like you had very many friends to begin with, but you could admit that Naruto was a breath of fresh air. His sunny persona and steadfast disposition always managed to brighten up your day. Most nights, he talked enough for the both of you and was a pleasant distraction from less than savory thoughts regarding your ex. It was safe to say that you rather liked being his roommate. Naruto made you feel safe in your own skin again.Â
You had just returned from class when you heard Naruto fumbling around in the bathroom. He wasnât a quiet roommate by any means, but he usually never made this much noise in the mornings. From the looks of things, he had just returned from a run, and was now showering away the sweat and grime.Â
âYou okay in there?â you called. There was no answer.Â
Instead, the restroom door was thrust open and your roommate burst through, darting down the hall at breakneck speed, naked as the day he was born. You blinked rapidly, mouth hanging open. What...the actual hell?
âMy bad!! I forgot my towel!â His awkward laugh echoed from somewhere in his bedroom.Â
âYou couldâve just asked me to bring you one.â
âI kinda panicked a little.â
You snorted behind your hand. âA little?â
âOkay, maybe a lot.âÂ
Naruto returned to where you stood, thankfully he was fully dressed, although his wet hair hung low around his face, wispy tendrils clinging to his cheeks. The water droplets were left to be caught by the towel around his neck.
âDude, youâre gonna get sick,â you grabbed the towel and draped it over his head. Naruto was just a few inches taller, but you still managed, even if you had to get on your toes a bit, while he bent to accommodate the height difference.Â
You carefully towel dried his hair as best as you could. Naruto kept his eyes solely on you. It was a little unnerving, but you did your best to ignore it, until he finally spoke up.
âHow are you feeling?âÂ
Due to proximity, you could feel his puffs of breath fanning against your cheek.
âIâm good now, Naruto. Great, actually.â
He smiled at that. âIâm glad.â
You chewed your lip to stop yourself from smiling back but it was too late, heâd already caught a glimpse of it.Â
âThere you go,â you returned the towel to his open hands. âAll done.â
âThanks a bunch! I donât think anyoneâs ever done that for me before.â
You found that a little hard to believe. But Naruto was walking away before you could question him about it. You thought about the way he looked at you, how his eyes seemed to gleam as he did. It made your cheeks feel like they were on fire.Â
Days later, you still thought about it even as you stretched yourself across the carpeted floors of your apartment living room in an attempt to gather your thoughts. It was a feeble attempt, and you werenât really a yoga person, but you were insistent on doing something that didnât fall into the category of wondering what your roommate was currently doing. And it worked for all of five minutes before you simply laid on your back and stared up at the ceiling.
That was the exact image of you Naruto walked in on. He tossed his keys on the table, left his backpack by the door, and toed off his shoes like normal, it was a routine ingrained in him by now.
âUhh, what are you doing on the floor?â Naruto stood over your figure with a quirky grin. He was wearing a turtleneck⌠which was a little odd, youâd only ever seen him tee shirts and sweatpants. But it was nice. He looked nice. Wait, noâ
âWhy are you wearingâŚ?â You trailed off as Naruto laid himself by your side, wedging himself between you and the coffee table.
âNope! I asked first!â He shuffled a bit to make himself comfortable. âSo, what are we doing on the floor?â
Keeping your eyes glued to the ceiling and not on the man who was getting a view of your side profile, you replied simply. âI was doing yoga at first.â
Naruto was silent. Did he know what yoga was? You were going to ask, but he beat you to it, humming an âoh coolâ, and accepting your lukewarm response easily.
âYou know...these past few months have been kinda like a dream.âÂ
âWhat do you mean by that, Naruto?â
Finally craning your neck to the side, you were greeted with the full view of him. Soft blonde hair, ocean-blue eyes, and the kind of smile that made you want to smile too. It was so hard to be sad or down in his presence, it was like he vanquished darkness with his light. God, you were sounding so shakespearean.Â
Unaware of your inner battle, Naruto continued. âI grew up in an orphanage, so the thought of having a home was...a bit like a fairytale. But then I learned that people can be just as much a home as any random building, ya know?â
You did know. You knew it too well, in fact. Once you had made the mistake of falling in love with your best friend. He had become your home, only to leave you broken and abandoned.Â
âYeah...I get that.âÂ
âAnd you,â Naruto continued. âYou feel a lot like what I think home feels like.â
You blinked at him, stunned, heart stuttering because you could tell he meant what heâd said. Goddamn him for being this way. For being so good.
Naruto sat up and you followed suit. âI just wanted to say thank you, Y/n.âÂ
And with that, he leaned forward and pecked your cheek.

The Dog Walker
Genre: Dog Walker!AU
Pairing: Hanbin x You (Female!Reader)
Warnings: None
Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | Words: 2,022
You gasped softly when you glanced at your watch and saw what time it was.
If you had waited even a few seconds longer, you would have missed it.
But, as it was, you still had some time. So, you leaped out of your chair and dashed to the window in the front room of your townhouse, using two fingers to widen the slot between the blinds as inconspicuously as you could.
Your gaze shifted as far down the sidewalk as your window would allow, and when you saw the small, brown dog rounding the corner, your stomach flipped over itself.
Because the small, brown dog meant that he would follow.
And, sure enough, barely a second after you saw the dog -- whom you had named Teddy in your mind since he looked like a little teddy bear -- there he was.
You had no idea who he was. You didnât know a name, an age, a location, a personality -- nothing. The only things you knew about this guy were that he was a dog walker, he took the same route every day, and he was somehow incredibly cute and incredibly handsome at the same time.
His dark hair that fell over his forehead just right. His slightly rounded cheeks that were just so pinchable. His square jawline and chin that added the perfect touch of sexiness to his face. His full lips that screamed to be kissed (not that you would kiss him because you didnât know him, but boy did you imagine it). His straight nose that fit perfectly amongst his features.
And his eyes.
Oh my lord, those eyes.
They were never focused directly on you, of course, but you had caught enough glimpses of them to know that if they ever were... you would most likely faint on the spot.
But it wasnât just his face that made him so captivating and alluring. The way he dressed was so effortless but so cool. And the way he walked kind of made it seem like he was a bumbling idiot but also like he knew exactly what he was doing.
Plus, as heâd passed your window one day, youâd heard him talking to the dog he was walking and it had almost made your heart beat right out of your chest.
It had sounded like heâd been having a full-on conversation with Teddy, and his tone of voice had been just about the cutest thing youâd ever heard.
If you ever did meet this guy in real life, you werenât sure you would survive. And if you did, you certainly would never see or talk to him again because you would undoubtedly act like such a fool that he would stay as far away from you as he possibly could.
So... best to never even meet him. Or go outside to get your mail as he walked past.
You pressed your lips together, holding your breath as the guy and Teddy approached your window. Some days, it seemed like they were both walking in slow motion and you had all the time in the world to admire your dream man. Other days, it seemed like someone had pushed the fast forward button and the whole thing was over in the blink of an eye.
Today, blessedly, was a slow motion day.
Your forehead wrinkled as he loped down the sidewalk, his stride casual but purposeful. You bit back a squeal when you saw his mouth moving, murmuring some unknown words to Teddy (or whatever the dogâs actual name was).
And your eyes followed him like your life depended on it. As if you would actually cease to exist if you stopped watching him for even a millisecond.
And then, a few moments later, just the same as every other day... he was gone. He turned the corner at the other end of your block and vanished.
It was the highlight of your day, and yes, this was all incredibly concerning and upsetting. You were fawning over a guy you had literally never met. Literally never spoken one single word to. Literally did not even know you existed! And yet your heart began to hammer when you knew he was coming, and it sank when he was no longer visible from your window.
It was kind of like he was a celebrity you fangirled over... except he was just a normal guy. A dog walker. One who presumably lived in the same town.Â
But he was definitely as handsome as a celebrity!
...Still, though. You knew if you ever told anyone about this daily routine of yours -- about your secret crush on a guy whose name you didnât even know -- they would judge you. Harshly. And for a long time. Probably until you stopped spying on him as he went about his work.
So... you never told anyone. You didnât even talk about it out loud to yourself. You didnât write anything in your journal, either! This whole situation was something you would take to your grave.
With a soft sigh of disappointment, you let go of your blinds, turned on your heel, and shuffled back to your computer. It was right smack-dab in the middle of your work day, after all, and now that youâd had your daily fix of Cute Dog Walker Guy... it was time to come back to reality.
You know how some people get into a very specific routine but they canât even remember how that routine came about? Like, it just sort of happened one day and then it stuck and now it seems like itâs just always been a part of their life.
Thatâs not how it was with your routine.
You remembered exactly how it had first happened -- every little detail. Partly because you had the memory of an elephant and were extremely observant, but also because... I mean, how could you forget the first time you saw...
Was it too dramatic to say âthe man of your dreamsâ?
Maybe?
Okay, fine, Iâll just say this: How could you forget the first time you saw Cute Dog Walker Guy?
Close enough.
It had all gone down about two months ago, on a Wednesday. You had just finished a particularly long, particularly stressful project at work, and you had stepped away from your home desk for a limb stretch and a brain break. And probably a snack.Â
The sun had been streaming in through the blinds, and youâd had a thought to go and open them, wanting to soak up a bit of vitamin D after being cooped up inside the entire morning.
And then youâd heard the barking.
If anything could put a smile on your otherwise grouchy face, it was a cute dog. And since you were the type of person to think just about any dog was cute, you scurried over to your window and, rather than pulling on the cord to lift the blinds up, you simply peeked through two of them to see if you could spot this yippy friend.
And, sure enough, you caught him trotting around the corner just in time.
Youâd thought seeing this adorably fluffy brown dog would be the highlight of your day... but then the person walking him had come into view.
Basically, youâd known instantly that you were a goner.
The day after, youâd kept an ear and an eye out for both the dog and the dog walker, and much to your surprise and gratitude, youâd been rewarded.Â
And again the next day, and the day after, and the day after.
At first, youâd thought the fluffy brown dog belonged to him, but there were some days when he was joined by a scruffy tan dog and other days when he was joined by a smooth gray dog -- both of them so cute you thought your heart might burst. So, you had eventually come to the conclusion that he was a dog walker.
Many times, you had been tempted to try and look him up by searching for dog walking services in your area. But, somehow, youâd resisted.
First of all, you kind of enjoyed the mystery. Second of all, you didnât have a dog, so there was really nothing you could do with any information you found on him besides stalk him on social media.
You already spied on the guy every single day. Wasnât that enough?
Your plan was really just to continue waiting and watching as he walked by your townhouse for as long as he chose to walk by your townhouse. If he ever decided to take a different route, then... you would just move on, I guess? Maybe try to actually meet someone you might be interested in dating?
That sounded like a pretty solid plan.
But, as we all know, life very rarely ever goes according to plan. I mean, the instant any one of us thinks weâve come up with a pretty solid plan, The Universe simply shakes its head and laughs.
Instead of watching Cute Dog Walker Guy go past your window every day, admiring him from afar and daydreaming about your life together, wondering how much time you had left to watch and admire and daydream...
Well, I might as well just stop trying to explain and actually tell you what happened.
It was Monday. You were slightly depressed because the weekend had been far too short, and honestly, who decided that a workweek should be five days long, anyway? Youâd barely caught up on your sleep over the past two days, and now you were expected to work again? For five days straight? It wasnât at all fair, and along with being slightly depressed, you were incredibly distracted.
Really, you were sitting at your desk waiting for Cute Dog Walker Guy time rather than actually even trying to work.
But such is life!
And when the time finally arrived, you were ready. You pushed your chair away from your desk, stood up, and tiptoed over to your window with a hopeful smile tugging at your lips.
Almost immediately after you peeked through your blinds, though, you knew something was different.
Instead of hearing the jingling tags of Teddyâs collar, you heard... yelling?
âNo, no, no, stop!â
...That didnât sound good.
Your eyes darted around, trying to see what could be causing Cute Dog Walker Guy (at least, you assumed it was him) to call out like this. And when your gaze finally landed on a squirrel scampering around on the sidewalk and climbing up up a stop sign, you couldnât help but let out an amused giggle.
Finally, Teddy turned the corner, and he was joined by a brand new dog youâd never seen before -- a dark brown brindle dog who was tugging at his leash and hunting the squirrel as if his life depended on it.
Cute Dog Walker Guy stumbled behind, his brow furrowed deeply as he continued to call out after the dog, desperately attempting to get things under control.
Attempting... and failing.
The squirrel hunter had, apparently, tuned out everything in the world around him so he could focus on his prey and was now jumping up the stop sign pole and barking.
âNo, please, be quiet!â Cute Dog Walker Guy pleaded.
The squirrel then jumped from the stop sign onto the trash can at the corner, and Squirrel Hunter leaped after him.
Cute Dog Walker Guy yelped as the dog yanked him forward, both leashes getting tangled up in the stop sign and the trash can.
And then Cute Dog Walker Guy fell to the ground.
Your eyes widened and your mouth fell open slightly, a soft but strangled yelp of concern emerging from your lips.
Oh, god.
What should you do?
I mean, obviously, your instinct was to run outside and help him! He was now sprawled on the ground, trying to keep hold of the two leashes while one dog was still wildly jumping and whining toward the squirrel.
But... wouldnât that be weird?! If you just immediately showed up to help him?! He would know youâd been watching!
Although, maybe he wouldnât care? I mean, it really looked like he needed help.
But what if --
âOwwww -- stop! Stop it!â
At hearing Cute Dog Walker Guyâs moan of pain, you fled from your window and skidded to the front door.

âAll you have to do is askâ Chapter 4 - [Reid x Reader]
previous chapter // series index // next chapter
Summary: The morning after! How awkward could it be when Reader and Dr. Reid meet in the bullpen the next morning? An honest conversation turns smutty and Reader is starting to rethink some decisions.
Pairing: Spencer Reid / (Female) Reader
Word Count: 3.6k for Chapter 4
Content Warnings: No smut actually happens this chapter, but there is a lot of smutty talk. BDSM themes. Fluff. Tiny bit of angst if you squint.
A/n: This chapter was initially just supposed to be filler, but when I sat down to write it, it became really important to me. The way BDSM dynamics are presented is really important to me, so I wanted to do it justice. The actually femdom kicks off in Chapter 5 đ (Also, tumblr isnât letting me tag some people and its slowly driving me insane.)
y/n = your name. y/l/n = your last name. italicized text are Readerâs thoughts.
-- Chapter 4 â âPlease donât lie to me.â --
I wasnât sure what I expected to happen when I got to work the following morning; my mind spun in circles while the elevator slowly brought me to the floor that housed our elite FBI unit. Try as I might, I couldnât stop my thoughts from straying to last night.
Spencer had fallen asleep with his head in my lap, my fingers moving softly over his scalp, brushing through his curls. I sat there for longer than I wanted to admit, lost in thought. How did I let this happen? I thought over and over again. Did I break my rules because I knew Spencer? I trusted him with my life; I trusted the entire time with my life, I had to. Perhaps thatâs why I let him kiss me, let him touch me. I trusted the good doctor in a way I hadnât trusted anyone I had been intimate with in a long time.
That must be it. I refused to look at it on a deeper level; I couldnât. I had to keep my feelings in check. I wouldnât risk my job, my life, my world over unchecked emotions. Not again.
The metal doors slid open; the bullpen was already buzzing with activity at 7:50 in the morning. I usually arrived earlier, but I had stopped for coffee. I reasoned that it was just a treat for myself; not an excuse to avoid the office coffee station, which we all knew was the domain of Dr. Spencer Reid. I hadnât received any messages from Garcia or Hotch, leading me to assume today was another day of paperwork.
I tried to stop my eyes from searching for him, but it was no use. He was like a magnet for my senses. Most of us typed up our reports and only wrote when we had to, but most of us were not Dr. Reid. He was hunched over, papers scattered over his desk in some pattern of order only he would understand. His pen scribbled quickly over the pages, his tongue poking out the corner of his mouth in concentration.
It wasnât until he glanced up suddenly that I became aware of the world around me; someone had said my name, alerting him to my presence. Looking around, I shot Prentiss a smile, her gaze already on my face. âHi, Em,â I said in greeting.
Her smile confirmed my suspicions that she was the one who had spoken. âDid you do anything fun last night? You didnât answer my text.â
Who, me? âOh, nothing much,â I said brightly, placing my bag at my desk, setting my coffee down. âI just did some stuff around the house. Iâm sorry I didnât see your text.â I hadnât seen her text until hours after she sent it. I was so wrapped up in that man I didnât even look at my phone. For hours.
One of the wonderful things about SSA Emily Prentiss is that nothing phased her; she had lived a life that was too complicated and dangerous to sweat the small stuff. âNot a problem. Are you doing anything tonight? Garcia is trying to organize a girlâs night.â
I could still feel my boyâs eyes on me. âNo, I donât have any plans. If she asks me, Iâll let you know.â Prentiss scoffed, turning back to her work. We both knew Garcia would ask.
Donât look, donât look, I kept repeating to myself; but how could I not? Slowly, my head turned towards him, finding him already staring at me. To anyone else, his face would have appeared blank, but after last night, I knew him better than that. He didnât have his glasses on today, he wore a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, his messy curls hanging in a state of permanent disarray around his face. Calling his eyes brown was doing them an injustice; not quite hazel, they were filled with so many tiny shards of color, giving them a depth I had never noticed before last night.
No, his face wasnât blank; his face was filled with uncertainty. When he eventually woke up last night, he lifted his head from my lap quickly, his cheeks red with embarrassment. I hadnât said anything; I kissed his cheek and walked out of his apartment. My poor nervous, beautiful boy. I offered him a small, soft smile. This didnât have to change anything. Not if he didnât want it to.
--
Just because you expect something doesnât mean youâre ready for it; thatâs a lesson I had learned a long time ago that had always held true. I expected Dr. Reid to try and talk to me at some point today. I expected it, but I wasnât ready when he finally cornered me on my way back to the bullpen from the bathroom. I felt his presence before I saw him; he stepped around the corner, briefly meeting my eyes before he started shuffling awkwardly.
He cleared his throat. âH-hey, y/n. I wasâŚI was hoping that I could talk to you for a minute?â
Still such a nervous boy. I gave him a nod; I knew he needed answers. It wasnât fair to ignore him just because I was uncomfortable with how I was feeling. I had done this before, Spencer hadnât. Honestly, I wasnât sure what Spencer had done before. I turned as he walked past me, following him down the hallway until we reached JJâs old office. It was filled with old boxes and scattered with case files. It was as private as we were going to get.
I waited for the boy genius to speak first; it might have been cruel, but I really didnât know what to say, I didnât know how to begin. How was I supposed to start this conversation when I remembered the noises he made when his cock was in my mouth? When I could still see the desperation in his eyes when he begged me to cum? After I had gone home last night, I lay in my bed until I couldn't resist the urge anymore. I slid my hand into my panties and remembered those sounds, how he looked, as I brought myself to a powerful orgasm.
I had masturbated thinking about Spencer Reid. That probably wasn't as earth-shattering as I was making it out to be, but I didn't do those sorts of things. I didn't do this shit with someone I work withâŚsomeone who has some form of power over any part of my life. I wasn't vulnerable; I was never vulnerable.
âY/n,â his voice cracked on the last letter of my name. âIâŚI wanted to talk about yesterday.â
âI figured.â I kept my tone light. Despite my complicated feelings about the situation, I really did care about Spencer. I knew that for certain. Seeing him nervous, squirming, and desperate yesterday was one of the sexiest moments of my life. Seeing him nervous, squirming, and desperate today was different; it made my heart squeeze.
He gave me a smile. âI know we didnâtâŚtalk about things before or after. ButâŚI wanted to thank you.â
I quirked an eyebrow at him, earning a beautiful flush rising on the apples of his cheeks. âNo, not about that,â his voice squeaked out, furthering my amusement. âI meant for staying with me. Last night. You could have left after we wereâŚdone. But you didnât. You knew I needed to be close to youâŚand you stayed with me.â Dr. Reid finally stopped fidgeting, his words less rushed, but still tinged in nervousness. âNo matter what happens after this, that meant a lot to me. So, thank you.â
âYou donât have to thank me for knowing you needed aftercare, Spencer.â
âYes, I do.â Those three words made my breath stutter. Did he know? Did he know how scared I was? Could he tell how badly I wanted to run from the feelings he brought up in me? Knowing my luck, probably.
âYouâre welcome, Pretty Boy.â Spencer smiled at the nickname, but I could tell he wasnât done. Thanking me wasnât the only reason heâd pulled me in here. I decided to speak before he got the chance to again. âCan I ask you a question?â When he nodded, I asked what I had wanted to know since the moment I met him. âAre you a virgin, Spencer?â
He must have known it was coming; he tried to keep his face impassive, but I could see the embarrassment in his micro-expressions. "No, y/n. I'm not a virginâŚ" Not super convincing, Doc. âIâm really not,â he gave a small huff of amusement. âIâve had sex beforeâŚjust not a lot.â
There is it. âWhat is not a lot?â
My boy shifted his weight from foot to foot then. "I had sex for the first time when I was 24, right after I joined the Bureau. I've gone on a few dates since thenâŚIt's lead to someâŚstuff, but it's never gone that far again."
âSo, youâve had sex with one person? Was that a woman or a man?â
âShe was a woman.â I loved that he didnât seem offended at the question. Spencer didnât put on airs of hypermasculinity; I wonder if he had ever given any thought to his sexuality, or if he just accepted that it was what it was.
âOkay. Have you ever thought about having sex with a man?â This wasnât relevant, I was just curious.
Spencer licked his lips; I could tell this conversation required a lot of courage from him. "Yes. I've been asked outâŚI've gone on two dates with men." He smiled when my eyebrows rose in surprise. âIâve kissed men, but men areâŚtheyâre so aggressive. At least the ones I have been interested in.â
âIs aggression bad?â
âNo,â he went on quickly. âItâs not, usually. I justâŚI donât pick up on cues very well. I didnât feelâŚsafe with them. I was attracted to them, and I wanted to have sex with themâŚbut I didnât want to do that unless I felt like the person cared about me.â His voice shook, but his eyes never left mine, even as his fingers began to fidget with the end of his tie. âWith youâŚyesterday, I knew you wouldnât hurt me. I knew youâdâŚyouâd stop if I wanted you to. And you made me feel like it was okay.â Fuck, why does he do this to my heart? âYou made it feel like exploring my sexuality was okay. With you.â
I took a step towards him then; I couldnât stop myself. He was the sun, lighting up the entire room, and I was just a mere mortal that wanted to stand in his light. I raised my hand to cup his cheek, gazing up at him; he was so tall, so much taller than me. âExploring your sexuality is okay, Doc.â My voice was firm, leaving no room for debate. âItâs important to feel safe with the people you explore it with. You should never do something that makes you uncomfortable or with a person that doesnât care about you. Iâm honored that you saw that in me.â
He wanted to kiss me; I knew he did, I could see it in his eyesâŚbut he didnât. I donât know if it was because we were at work or because he was afraid that I would reject him. I wouldnât have. His hand came up to cover my own, pulling it down from his face so he could lace his fingers through mine. Just like my kissing him, it wasnât lost on me that holding my hand was significant to him.
âI know we didnât talk about it,â he said quietly. âI donât want to do anything that would make you uncomfortable. We work togetherâŚbut, I like you. I trust you. AndâŚif you wanted- if youâre okay with itâŚIâd like to explore what we talked about yesterday. With you.â
I knew he would want to. Who wouldnât want to explore the unknown? Especially a curious man like my Dr. Reid? Despite all of that, my heart couldnât help but swell at his declaration. I loved being dominant in the bedroom. I found that amount of control arousing beyond belief, and Iâd never say otherwise. But there was something about the trust that my submissive put in me that fulfilled a different part of me. To be trusted like thisâŚIt was something so important and it triggered a feeling of pride in myself. I was worthy of their trust.
I squeezed his hand. âOkay, Doc.â He looked so fucking hopeful. âWe can discuss it. This is the unsexy part of any BDSM dynamic. We have to talkâŚa lot. Communication is what makes this work.â And I do want this to work, which was terrifying. âI want you to take some time to think about this,â I hurried on when it looked like heâd interrupt me. âYou need to do some research, Doc. I want you to look at things and decide what or how you want to proceed. Or if you even want to proceed. If you change your mind, that is okay.â He needs to know that. âThen we can have a discussion and go from there.â
Spencer nodded, seeming more comfortable now that he had a task to focus on. âWhat about work?â
âThatâs an important thing to talk about too. Obviously, we canât do anything obvious at work. There are cameras everywhere. And we need to focus on cases.â He made a noise of agreement. âWe need to talk about what works for us. If youâre open to playing together when weâre on a case in certain settings, like back at our hotel, if you want this to be a monogamous dynamic, signals, safe words, and how we establish when a scene starts.â
His eyebrows were so high I was worried theyâd disappear into his hairline. âO-okay.â
I smiled. âGood. Think it over; you know where Iâll be.â
--
Again, just because you expect something doesn't mean you're ready for it. I expected Spencer to want to talk to me again, but I wasn't ready for the text message that popped up on my phone at 6:03 pm.
âIâd like to talk whenever you are free.â
A normal person wouldnât have been able to do the required research in just 40 minutes, which was the maximum amount of time he could have been home for; but Spencer Reid wasnât a normal person.
Which is why I text Emily and Garcia some lame excuse about backing out of girlâs night before I told Spencer I was free tonight.
âAre you sure? You donât have to cancel girlâs night.â
Fucking profilers with eidetic memories. âIâd rather do this. Iâll see you in 20.â
--
I raised my hand to knock on his door but felt myself pause before my knuckles connected to the wood.
What the fuck am I doing? It was a valid question. It wasnât too late to back outâŚbut it was also far too late to back out. Before my fingers could decide if they wanted to knock or not, the door in question swung open to reveal the curly-headed man that plagued my thoughts. Â
He was in the same clothes he wore to work that day, only his tie was missing, the first few buttons of his shirt undone. Spencerâs hair always looked like he just woke up, his curls having a mind of their own and he couldnât be bothered to tame them. They looked different right now; it was like he had been running his hands through his hair.
I offered him a smile. âHi, Doc.â
âHi, y/n.â With a smile of his own, he waved an arm, ushering me into the apartment. It didnât look any different than it had yesterday, not really. It just felt different. I walked over to his couch, just like I had yesterday. I sat on the same cushion, just like I had yesterday. Everything just felt so different.
Spencer sat beside me, just like yesterday. âI feel bad about making you cancel girlâs night.â
âDonât. You didnât make me do anything I didnât want to do, Doc.â I pushed my hair behind my ear; a nervous habit I hope he hadnât picked up on quite yet. âI want to be here.â
âI want you to be here too.â
Itâs unprofessional to swoon, y/n. Get it together.
I mentally shook myself. âRight. So, where do you want to start.â
âWhy do you hold your submissives at such a distance?â he licked his lips; he was nervous, but his gaze never dropped from mine. âI respect you and your decisions, but I would really like to understand.â Â
ââŚWell, thatâs certainly a place to start,â I gave an awkward chuckle. He didnât return my amusement. My curious boy really wanted to know. âI told you, I got my heart broken. Thatâs it.â Â
His eyes narrowed. âI donât want to pressure you,â his voice was so fucking earnest. âI justâŚI donât understand. I want to understand. You donât have to tell me everything, but please donât lie to me.â
Shame washed over me; I had been stressing how important open and honest communication is and here I am avoiding something because it makes me uncomfortable. This had never been an issue before; none of my previous subs had ever wanted to know. But how could I even explain how embarrassed I was? How stupid I had been? How I gave someone my entire heart when I didnât even know the kind of person he really was? How could I explain the choices a 22-year-old girl made?
"You're right, Spence," I took a deep breath. "Trust is important. I won't lie to you, but please understand that I'm not comfortable talking about it right now. I've never talked about it with anyone." I reached out for his hand, holding it softly in mine. "It's not that I don't want you, I justâŚhaven't done that with anyone in such a long time."
He didnât understand, hell, I didnât even understand, but he accepted what I saidâŚfor now, anyway. âOkay,â he squeezed my hand. âWe donât have to do that, and you donât have to talk about it until youâre ready.â
My mouth couldnât help but turn up into a smile. This man. âThank you.â I let go of his hand, clasping both of mine together and putting them in my lap. I wanted to touch him, but I needed him to not feel any pressure from me for the next part of our conversation. âNow, we need to talk about limits and expectations.â He began shifting in his seat. âI know itâs uncomfortable, but this is all part of it. I assume youâve done some research, so tell me about what interests you and what doesnât.â
My boy looked so unsure of himself; he was bearing such a vulnerable part of himself to me, and he was frightened. But no matter how afraid he was, my boy was also brave. âI-âŚI donât have any real frame of reference. Iâd like to experiment with some things before I decide if itâs a hard limit for me or not.â I nodded in an attempt to encourage him. âI donât want extreme pain. Or things that areâŚunsanitary.â
I laughed. âI never expected any different.â
Maybe my laugh relaxed him; he didn't seem quite as tense as he went on. "I'd like toâŚtouch you when you allow it. I've neverâŚreally done anything with a woman outside of just penetration. I know the basics of how toâŚI just would like to do those things. With you. If you ever felt comfortable." I'm almost positive I was blushing now. Spencer Reid, Dr. Spencer Reid, the pride of the BAU wanted to do things to please me; and I was tempted to let him. Who would have thought? âYou donât have to decide nowâŚbut the moment you feel comfortable, Iâm ready.â His eyes ran up and down my body, I could see his throat work when he swallowed. âIâm really ready.â
After a beat, he went on, âBeyond that, Iâm interested in being restrained. I like the idea of chokingâŚbut Iâm nervous about it. The idea of giving up control and following order is what fascinates me. IâŚI also wanted to tr-try what you mentioned. In Nebraska.â
As I live and breathe. "Spencer, are you asking me to fuck you?" He knew what I meant; I could see it in the way he bit his lip. "Do you want me to tie you to my bed and make you beg for me to fuck your ass?"
He tried to disguise that whimper, but I fucking heard it. âI-IâŚItâs not uncommon for men to like that sort of stimulation, given that-â
I raised my hand, placing a finger on his lips before I broke my own rules again. I leaned forward and placed a chaste kiss on his full pink lips. âNo shame here, pretty boy. None at all, especially with me.â He watched my mouth move, his posture becoming less tense. âIâd love to fuck you. Pegging a man is something I found arousing, Spencer. The thought of doing it to you turns me on. We can work up to it.â
The smile he gave me was so hesitant and sweet. "Okay." He waited a minute before he went on. "I know that you don't always orgasm with your subsâŚyou don't let them make you cum. I don't want to pressure you or make you uncomfortable, but I really, really want to make you cum." I clenched my thighs together. Jesus fucking Christ. âIf youâre comfortable, Iâd like for youâŚfor that to be part of what we do together. Youâre so beautiful when you cum, y/n. I thought about it last night after you went home. I thought about how you tasteâŚI really want to taste you again.â
Fuck. I really wanted him to taste me again too.

Returning Home
Pairing: Saul Silva x reader
Request: Can you please do an imagine where Saul is married to someone younger than him who's a fairy who grew up on earth and when Andreas comes back they find out that he was an ex from a couple of years ago who went by a different name cause he was supposedly dead. Anonymous

âIâve never told anyone this before,â he whispers having just admitted to his deepest secret. The one thing that could completely ruin him. You gently stroke his cheek to let him know that you understand. How he managed to keep this a secret for 16 years is something you canât wrap your head around though. If it were you, youâd need to tell someone.Â
âAre you going to tell Sky?â you ask trying to see his facial expression despite lying in the dark. Itâs midnight meaning you should be sleeping but youâve never been good at just sleeping. Two years into the marriage and you still stay up until the AMâs just talking and enjoying each other. You never expected for him to admit to killing Andreas though. You feel bad for Sky but you understand why Saul did what he did even if it didnât change anything in the end.Â
âI think I have to,â he replies inching closer placing a hand on your lower back. Itâs taking a lot for Saul to talk about this but you think itâs good for him. For far too long, heâs been the soldier never letting anything get to him and always staying neutral despite his own beliefs. It sounds to you as if heâs never really fully forgiven himself for what happened that day.Â
âHeâll forgive you eventually. You didnât take the decision lightly,â you say praying that youâre telling the truth. You know how much itâll hurt Saul to lose Sky after having raised him as his own. And in the end, itâll hurt Sky too. Heâs already lost so much, he doesnât deserve to lose more.Â
âOne can only hope.â You donât tell him that hope normally leads to disappointment because no good will come from that. But you canât help but worry if Sky will be able to understand. Itâs a lot to ask of a teenager. Hell, itâs a lot to ask of anyone. Logic never seems to make an appearance when it comes to family. You donât sleep much that night instead lying awake thinking about what Saul had disclosed. You didnât blame him for what happened but it made you feel a little queasy still. You couldnât imagine killing your best friend even if it were for the greater good.Â
âHave you slept at all?â Saul asks when he wakes up. Youâve just gotten out the shower grabbing some clean clothes. As much as you try to keep up the next few days passes in a blur as youâre nearing exams and the students are getting worried. The situation with the Burned Ones also worsens making it stressful on you and Saul too. Youâre the most experienced hunters when it comes to Burned Ones but it also means that you live each day wondering if youâll see each other again. The soldier in you tells you that this is normal doing what you do but your heart hates it. Your heart hates it so much that sometimes you wonder if itâll be able to bear it. The school attack scares you because the barrier was supposed to always be there and now it isnât. When you hear that the woman Rosalind is back from Farah, you get a very bad feeling in your stomach. All the drama is enough to convince you and Saul that you need a vacation once the school is safe and itâs time for summer vacation. You decide to head to Earth where you have a few priorities after having lived there for most of your childhood and teenage years. Your parents had been very much against the politic aspect of being a fairy so they had migrated to Earth instead opting for completely normal lives.Â
âExplain to me again why itâs good business to invest in 3 different houses?â he asks always wanting the explanation but never actually understanding it. In the Otherworld you have one plot of land and you donât go buying a vacation home. When you return to school, youâre shocked to learn that Rosalind has taken over. You know Farah would never step down voluntarily and you fear for what has happened to her. But the man standing next to Rosalind is the face that draws your attention.Â
âJohn?â you exclaim. Your voice lures him in as he looks for the source. When he locks eyes with you, pure terror settles in your bones. Saul is still holding your hand completely in shock.Â
âAndreas?â Confusion takes over when you hear Saul call him Andreas. And you know youâre not mistaken.Â
âI hope youâre ready for another year of teaching,â Rosalind smiles satisfactory making you ponder just how quickly you could choke her with water. A flick of the wrist and you could manipulate the dewy drops on the grass to fill her throat and keep her from ever breathing again. But youâre outnumbered. Even if you managed to, thereâs still be Beatrix and John who you still have no clue why Saul called Andreas. Thatâs definitely not Andreas.Â
âOf course,â Saul says gripping onto your hand tightly. Itâs time to play games if you want to survive.Â
âWe most definitely are, headmaster.â You give her a little nod which she returns. Itâs a struggle to keep your mind empty but too much is going on for you to risk Rosalind taking a peak.Â
âIf you donât mind, Iâd love a good shower. Weâve been travelling for quite some time now.â Rosalind nods already distracted by something behind you. It gives you a moment to look over at Saul whoâs white as a sheet. He doesnât seem to be present and while you donât know what has caused this reaction, you do know that you need to get him inside and away from prying eyes. So, you do just that. Behind you the Winx girls are arriving laughing and joking. Thatâs what caught Rosalindâs attention.Â
âY/N?â You look up to find Johnâs eyes transfixed on you. Then he smiles giving you the creeps.Â
âItâs good to see you.â You ignore him dragging Saul with you. Heâs slowly returning to the present making it much easier to walk.Â
âI thought I killed him,â he whispers not paying much attention to you.Â
âWhat are you talking about? How do you even know John?â you ask locking the door to your room to make sure no one enters without the two of you being prepared.Â
âJohn? Iâm talking about Andreas.â Youâre really trying to put two and two together but right now it adds up to 5 and you have no idea how.Â
âThe man next to Rosalind is John. I used to know him when I lived on Earth,â You donât use the word date but your blushing cheeks give it away for you.Â
âHis name is Andreas and heâs Skyâs father.â You bolt over to the dresser searching for any photo album. Itâs never occurred to you that you havenât seen a photo of Andreas. It doesnât take too long to find a picture of him and Saul together laughing. Andreas is John, John is Andreas.Â
âHe mustâve used an alias to keep people from finding out he was alive,â you say staring at the photo suddenly feeling sick. Youâd always wondered why he just disappeared all of a sudden back when you were dating. One day you came home to find a goodbye note and you never heard from him again. But it made sense now. Maybe his identity had been compromised, maybe he left to prepare for whatever was going on now. So many things about him made sense now; the always looking over his shoulder, never giving too many details about himself, not wanting his photo taken. He wanted to prevent prove of your life together.Â
âWe have to find out what they want. We have to talk to Sky.â You both hurry out to find Sky but itâs too late. Heâs already talking to Andreas. The chance of the little boy not siding with his returned father is minimal meaning you and Saul will have to figure this out on your own.Â
âIâm not sure what heâs doing here especially with Rosalind, but it canât be good, Y/N.â You agree knowing that itâll be up to you and Saul to figure out this mess. You can only hope that it wonât get messy but it seems pointless to hope something wonât happen when you already know this wonât be pretty.Â

-----
It didnât matter how many times you saw him do that, the effect the sight had on you was pretty much always the same. Filling your mind with thoughts that were quite counterproductive, one could say.
The veiny patterns covering hands and forearms. The long fingers running through the buttons. The tilted chin, extending the neck, drawing attention to that impossible jawline. The slight pout. The brows drawn together in concentration--
You smacked your tongue and shook your head
âYâknow what, those shirts of yours are so rude, but the way you wear them, the rolled-up sleeves?â
Neil looked at you through the reflection in the mirror, puzzled. âWhat about them?â
âAbso-fucking-lutely disrespectful,â you sighed heavily and leaned against the door frame.
Playful lights danced in the blue eyes. âOh yeah?â he teased, giving himself a final glance-over before turning to you. âAnd what youâre gonna do about it?â
âNothing,â - you shrugged, crossing your arms - âbecause you insist on dragging me to a social event.â
The faint resentment ringing in your last words didnât get lost on Neil.
âSo boring of me,â he said as he closed the gap between you, trying to keep a straight face. He put his hands on your waist and smirked. âBut maybe after that we can come back here and continue the conversation.â
As you fixed his collar, a shade of smile hid in the corner of your mouth.
âReally wanna listen to me listing all the things that drive me mad about you, huh?â you asked smugly, gliding your fingertips along the delicate stripes of the greyish beige shirt.
Neilâs thumbs brushed over your hip bones as he hummed, âI have a feeling it might lead to a rather pleasant conclusion.â
When you let out an amused scoff, his lips captured the snarky comment that was bound to follow. He pulled you closer and lifted you up, and the next second you were sitting on the edge of a vanity cabinet, breathless from the kiss, tugging at the striped shirt.
A buzz right next to you.
You jumped, startled, and glared at the phone. âIs it too late to tell Matthias the Uber driver that weâre not going anywhere?â you asked without too much hope as you nuzzled your face to Neilâs neck, breathing in his scent, unwilling to let this moment end too quickly.
Neil chuckled and stroked your arms. âCome on, itâs gonna be fun.â
You still didnât know where he was taking you - heâd assured you that it would be casual, and that was basically all you cared about. He knew you enough, and you trusted his judgement, after all.
âIt better be,â you pouted, pulling back, but as soon as you met the bright blue eyes your heart sang in your chest. After spending all that time in the darkness, not sure if youâd ever see his face again, you caught yourself taking an extra second every now and then, just looking at him. How the light played on his features, now soft in the elaborately illuminated hotel bathroom. How his lips curled whenever he found your gaze. How utterly stunning he was.
Smiling gently, you ran your fingers through Neilâs disheveled mane, taming the blonde mess if ever so slightly.
âLetâs not keep Matthias waiting, then,â you sighed and slid off the cabinet.
-------
The afternoon was quite warm for late autumn. As you were arriving at your destination, you watched the sun shining through the scarce leaves left on the trees, adding vibrance to their colours. Too mesmerized to pay attention to the route, you recognized the place only when the car stopped. The training site. You turned to Neil in confusion, but he just wiggled his brows and proceeded to thank the driver and got out of the car. You followed him out and right through the gate of the now-empty paintball outdoor facility which served as a front for the agencyâs base, hidden a bit further inside the forest.
âPicking up something on the way?â you asked, matching his pace as you strolled towards the training grounds.
Neil shook his head and smiled mysteriously. âNot really.â
âAlrighty then, keep your secrets,â you snorted, rolling your eyes. âArenât we a tad overdressed for a little playground fun, though?â
âA rematch?â he pondered and smirked. âDidnât plan on that, but itâs tempting.â
Indeed. âIâm kinda out of shape, but keep those baggy trousers on and Iâm game - wanna beat you fair and square again.â
Neil let out an exasperated huff. âBaggy?! They might be a bit loose but --â
You giggled at his offended expression as he got busy looking down at the target of your remark, ready to defend his fashion choice. Your laughter was enough to stop Neil in his tracks, and when he met your playful gaze, he reached out and drew you into his arms for a tight hug. After a brief moment of perplexity, you eased into his embrace, moved by the force of sudden affection.
When he pulled back, you touched his cheek. âWhat was that for?â you asked, searching the blue eyes, but finding nothing but joy there.
âBeing cheeky.â He scrunched his nose while tapping the tip of yours. âAnd brilliant,â he added, and for a second you were sure there was something else he wanted to say; instead, he laid a gentle kiss on your lips. âAnd maybe stalling a minute longer before Iâd have to share you with all these people.â
You gaped at him, about to ask what people, but Neil already grabbed your hand and led you around the corner of the building - and you heard them even before you spotted them.
âOi, there they are!â
âFinally!â
âWeâve just considered sending a rescue party in case you got lost in the woods!â
The unexpected eruption of cheers and greetings made your fight-or-flight reflexes kick in, but as you instinctively took a step back, Neil squeezed your fingers reassuringly. Â
A split-second exchange of looks.
All right?
When he saw your tiny nod, he let go of your hand, focusing on the team gathered at the makeshift chillout zone. âNot everyone has your poor sense of directions, Seb,â retorted Neil, flashing his teeth in a grin.
The young manâs protests got drowned in laughter as you approached the group together.
"Luckily not the case with our rogue here,â said Ives, elbowing his way in between other people. He shot you both a disapproving look, toned down by a smile dangling in the corner of his mouth. "Really, roofs? Didn't know you had it in you, mate."
"Me neither,â admitted Neil, going in for a clasp of hands and a brief hug. âWhen I saw that gap, I was sure that was it. Someone convinced me otherwise."
âThe secret is to avoid looking down,â you shrugged, meeting the commander's amused gaze.
"Thanks for bringing our favourite nerd back in one piece." As Ives extended his hand, there was something serious about his expression, mixed with a sense of relief, and you realised he must have been in the response team Neil had called for help.
âMy pleasure.â Beaming, you shook his hand. âThanks for providing backup.â And scraping me off the pavement.
Neilâs gasp was almost theatrical. He smirked and nudged Ives lightly. âAw, Iâm your favourite?â
âCareful, that privilege may be revoked any minute,â grunted Ives in a weak attempt at keeping up appearances, but he couldnât fool anyone. Now that you had a chance to observe them in the after-hours situation, the bond between the two men was clear as day, and your heart warmed up at the thought.
Waving back at Mahir, you scanned the group for other familiar faces. Wheeler, a couple of people you recognized from the HQ halls, and a bit isolated from the others - the big man himself, manning the barbecue station.
Overwhelmed by the attention you got from the team, you excused yourself and walked up to The Protagonist. You couldnât help but smile at the confident vibe he radiated with as if he spent every weekend doing nothing but this.
âSo dad of you, boss.â
He flopped a sizzling piece of meat to the other side, glancing at you humorlessly.
âHow are you feeling?â he asked with polite concern.
âGrand, healed up nicely, thank you.â You circled your shoulder and grinned. âNot in a marathon condition, mind you, but thatâs not exactly new.â
âThatâs good, Neil was worried about you.â
Not sure if it was the lack of eye contact or something else in his presence, but you decided to stop ignoring the gut feeling.
âYou donât like me,â you said, tilting your head. A mere statement of the fact; you werenât hurt, only curious. âItâs okay, you donât have to, just been wondering why.â
TP sighed heavily. And when he finally met your gaze, the dark eyes were sad, only deepening your confusion.
âIâm sorry.â Then something cracked and a shiver ran down your spine, because suddenly, in front of you there was a man whoâd seen a lot, suffered too much, and cared even more. The weight of it all slumped his shoulders, and for a short while, he seemed almost helpless. Taking a quick look at the hollering group, he sighed again. âItâs not your fault, itâs--â he hesitated, searching for the right words. As he found them, there was no sign of the vulnerability from a moment earlier. âItâs a stressful business.â He sent you a crooked smile. âAnd Iâm still mad about that watch.â
The lie was obvious. But the things you saw in his eyes made your chest clench painfully, andâŚdid you really want to know?
Besides, that might have been a truce offering, and you werenât bent on holding a grudge. Not with him, anyway.
âHey, wasnât it technically your idea?â you grinned, shrugging off the weird sense of dread.
A smile finally reached the dark irises. âI guess it was,â he admitted and patted you on the arm. âThereâs some beer in the mini-fridge, could you --â
âOn it.â
When the clank of bottles sealed your peace treaty, you caught Neilâs happy stare. You pointed at the beer in your hand in a question and he nodded, so you grabbed one more and joined him and the others.
That unfortunate mission must have been some sort of rite of passage in these guysâ eyes because out of the blue, you were no longer an outsider. The Cavalry accepted you with open arms as one of their own, and you couldnât wrap your head around it. It was a nice feeling, though. Like you belonged. You saw some curious glances, but they came from a good place, and even the suspicious voice in your mind gave in under the cordial, jovial energy of the group.
Soon enough, you were joking with a young medic, having a balancing stand-off with Wheeler, or listening to crazy stories from some old operations, until everyone had enough booze in their systems that allowed them to direct some of the questions to you, as well.
âSo is Neil a decent locksmith now?â
You puffed out your cheeks in a musing grimace, but when you spotted Neilâs raised brow, you started laughing. âIâd say even more than decent. Honestly? I donât think thereâs much more that I can teach him, he needs to polish his skills in real life now.â Mocking a teary sniff, you added, âThey grow up so fast!â
Nobody would know that you did so while actively ignoring a faint sting in your heart.
You refrained from meeting the attentive blue eyes, though. Just in case.
âOh cool, then what about a little contest?â Seb clapped his hands cheerfully. âYou versus Neil, we could time you, and to make it fairer we could put a blindfold on you --â as he stopped for a breath, he realized - with some help from Wheelerâs elbow to his side - the slight faux pas.
But you barely acknowledge a curse and a mumbled apology cutting through the awkward silence, too busy exchanging amused looks and stifled giggles with your student.
âNeil, would you like to explain?â you asked, schooling your features.
He bowed his head as if he was accepting a great honor. âGladly.â Neil took a deep breath and his eyes lit up. âSee, my dear friend, had you known anything about lockpicking, youâd learnt that sometimes itâs easier to do that with, for example, your eyes closed. You need to listen to what the lock has to say because itâs all about feedback--â
You watched as Neil gave a full lecture, citing your own words from what seemed to be a lifetime ago. He did it with passion and understanding of the craft youâd never dreamed to see in someone else, and yet was so familiar when it came to him. Absentmindedly, you placed a hand over your chest, as if it was enough to stop it from bursting.
You couldnât be more proud.
Neil finished his rant and looked at you, only to be met with all the appreciation and validation in your gaze, and he beamed even wider.
âAll right, damn, we can cover Neilâs eyes then,â sighed Seb, a total resignation in his voice sparking a roar of laughter from the group.
----
As much as you enjoyed the energy of the team, your social batteries were getting drained, and you needed a moment for yourself before you could carry on.
Walking right outside of the periphery of light from the garlands, you let your gaze slide across the training equipment, now barely visible in the moonless night. The leaves crumbled under your feet as you smiled at the memories. Maybe one day you would actually complete the full run? You pulled on the sleeves of your sweater, hiding your hands from the cold evening air.
âMind if I join you?â
You glanced over your shoulder at Neil, keeping his distance, ready to give you space. With him, it was always in the details heâd picked along the way, effortlessly weaving them into everyday life. âNot at all.â
Neil perked up and joined you in the shadows, inhaling deeply.
âFunny how the scent of the forest changes with the seasons,â he mused and you grinned, turning his way.
âThatâs what I call a pick-up line,â you snickered and drew a long breath. âBut youâre right, itâs too easy to forget that once you become a permanent city creature.â
He chuckled and lightly rubbed his hands up and down your arms.
âAre you warm enough?â he asked softly, fixing your oversized scarf.
âYeah.â You brushed your cheek against his fingers, longing for his touch, now that you were somewhat hidden from the prying gazes. âYou?â
Neil moved closer and wound one arm around your waist, then cupped your face gently, pressed his forehead to yours, and murmured, âNow I am.â
You hummed happily and slid your hands under his open jacket, resting them at his chest, and closed your eyes. Only then realizing how tense you were, you relaxed in his embrace, savoring his closeness. A steady heartbeat under your palms. The warmth carrying undertones of Neilâs cologne. A featherlike graze of his thumb over your cheek. His nose nudging yours.
But soon enough, you had to break a stolen moment. Trying to stifle a yawn, you hid your face in his shoulder to muffle the sound.
âOh, my poor baby,â he cooed, biting back a giggle. âThat tired?â
âIâm fine,â you mumbled against him on the verge of another yawn.
âSure you are.â He kissed your temple. âThe partyâs almost over anyway, judging by decreasing amount of idiotic ideas per hour. Gonna call us a cab soon, all right?â
As you nodded, Neil tightened a hug and reluctantly let you go.
âBe right back, Iâll check if thereâs any coffee left,â you said, gesturing towards the tables with beverages.
As your luck would have it, there was just enough for one sip.
A sudden sneer was enough to wake you up, though.
âHell froze over.â
Mahir walked up to the mini-fridge to grab a beer and you met his mocking stare with furrowed brows.
âVincent must be chattering his teeth now,â you joked, unsure where the conversation was heading. âWhy?â
Mahir scoffed at the remark about your old associate, but he was still studying you closely, confusing you further. âCongratulations, by the way.â
âDude, youâre killing me today,â you sighed, wiping a hand through your face. âThanks, but what for?â
âYou and Neil?â
And when you shot him a puzzled look, he waved his bottle at the place where you stood together a moment before.
Breaking out in a cold sweat, you deadpanned, âOh.â
Bloody hell.
âI thought you werenât doing the whole love thing anymore.â
The pulse pounded in your ears, although not loud enough to tune out the sirens blazing in your head.
No.
It came out harder than you felt it. âIâm not.â
No, no, no, no, no. Â
Mahir grimaced doubtfully. âUh-huh.â He looked over your shoulder at the team gathered together in the distance and raised a brow. âDoes he know that?â
You couldnât force yourself to follow his gaze. The panic drained your face of all colour, and that was enough of an answer for your friend.
âI see.â Mahir shook his head, losing the enquiring manner. His features softened as he patted your arm. âNeilâs a good guy.â
Please, no.
âThey always are,â you choked out bitterly.
Not again.
âYou know what I mean,â insisted Mahir, searching for your eyes.
That the history was not gonna repeat itself?
...or that he didnât deserve any of it?
âYeah. Maybe.â You faked a smile. âExcuse me.â
Pushing past him, you went inside the building. You needed to be alone.
Oh, the irony.
Weeks of deliberately avoiding the topic. Tricking yourself into thinking that you can keep it casual. That it didnât matter that much. That it was nothing but a self-indulgent fling.
You couldnât breathe.
Lesson learnt, huh?
Barging into one of the restrooms, you got to a sink. Clenching your hands on the cold ceramic, you fought nausea tearing through your body.
Pathetic.
The gasp for air turned into a sob.
...and then everything went quiet.
You raised your eyes to the mirror.
Your reflection was staring back at you with determination.
It was time.
