I genuinely don’t understand the obsession with bringing back extinct species that don’t have a home anymore. the arctic can’t handle the animals in it right now (bc we’re killing it), WHERE are we putting a wooly mammoth?? where are we putting dinosaurs? where are we putting dodos? and WHY are we not putting that energy and funding into saving the species we still have while we have them?
#g talks#just saw a tiktok from a scientist talking about the dodo research#and i’m so tired#like what is even the purpose#what kind of life will they have#how can you garuntee we won’t just kill them again#mine#/mobile#/okay to reblog

House Isekai: Shadowbringers - Finale (Part 1): The Heroes’ Gauntlet
House Isekai Shadowbringers AU Masterlist Here
—
With the deaths of Rhea and Thales, the merging of the worlds has been brought to an even worse condition instead of bringing peace.
Lahabrea and Sothis are left with no option, but to enact Plan B...
[Tears in the Rain - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers]
The world continued to shake violently as everyone tried to gain a footing.
None of this made any sense.
They had stopped Rhea and Thales.
What was missing?!
The School-Living Club helped up Class VII while Doomguy grabbed Ainz’s arm and pulled him up.
(Ainz) “...M-My thanks.”
Doomguy nodded in affirmation and turned to the others, shrugging.
(Byleth) “Sothis, can you hear me?! SOTHIS!”
“...”
(Sitri) “She keeps saying...stop them...what did she mean?”
(Lahabrea) “She meant Rhea and Thales right, did we not kill them?!”
He turned around and saw Thale’s body, but the Immaculate One was slowly starting to fade away, in the same manner Megumi, Minato, and Minako.
Before anyone could make a move, she shattered into light particles, the shaking finally stopping.
(Rean) “That...That tower is in our worlds! They’ll get killed if we don’t do something!”
(Yu) “The shadows attacking our world weren’t powerful enough to cause a major threat, but if the towers keep forming...”
(Yuuri) “We have to do something! The infection can’t reach your worlds too!”
(Kazuma) “Well what the fuck do we do, Wakasa?! No, LAHABREA! TELL US, WHAT’S THE NEXT BEST IDEA, HUH?!”
(Lahabrea) “...”
(Sothis) “...”
Byleth was about to say something before he was brought to his knees again, coughing out blood.
Everyone stopped when they saw what was happening.
Byleth was coughing white blood.
(Sitri) “B...Byleth?!”
(Akira) “The angel infection!”
(Edelgard) “We need healers, NOW!”
Several people ran up to Byleth and began casting physic, and it seemed to ease his coughing a little.
(Dimitri) “What’s the plan?”
(Claude) “You...You guys don’t even have one for this scenario, do you?”
(Lahabrea) “We do.”
(Yuri) “Well, we’re waiting!”
(Sothis) “You won’t like it.”
(Aigis) “Anything would be better than standing around doing nothing-”
(Lahabrea) “We reverse time while you all get the hell out of here.”
(Aqua) “...Okay that’s DEFINITELY NOT BETTER, YOU WANT TO WHAT?!”
(Rean) “Didn’t you say that using your...Divine Pulse or whatever was the thing causing all of this? Why would you-”
(Lahabrea) “OUR ONLY OPTION IS TO TRY THAT, OR HAVE ALL OF US GET KILLED, REAN! IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY BETTER IDEA, PLEASE TELL ME!”
“...”
(Lahabrea) “...That’s what I thought.”
(Sothis) “I’m preparing the portal now.”
(Yuuri) “What?”
(Lahabrea) “If we can use the energy from the Tower in Zanado, we can give you guys a way home.”
(Kazuma) “And the towers in their worlds?”
(Lahabrea) “...We’ll figure something out.”
(Byleth) “Hell no. That’s too big of a risk to gamble for everyone! What about the people left in Fodlan?! What’ll happen to us?!”
(Sitri) “There’s got to be some other way than just-”
The world began to shake again as Sothis opened up a portal back to Garreg Mach.
(Sothis) “Everyone, inside now.”
(Aigis) “Please, listen to us!-”
(Lahabrea) “This is for your own good everyone...Goodbye. Sothis-.”
She nodded and closed her eyes.
A glowing phantom of Valimar appeared behind them and shoved them into the portal.
Lahabrea and Sothis heard short screams and cursing, but they tried to ignore it as the portal shut behind them.
(Lahabrea) “...How long do you think it’ll take us?”
(Sothis) “Don’t know. We need to see the state of the tower, assuming it doesn’t collapse on us.”
(Lahabrea) sigh “Right...”
They teleported away to the Tower in Zanado...
...
Everyone landed in the courtyard in Garreg Mach Monastery.
(Albedo) “That damn...!”
(Yuki) “Ow...!”
(Akechi) “Quit you’re bitching, we’re alive. Though, if those idiots succeed in what they’re doing-”
(Teddie) “Everyone, look...!”
Teddie pointed ahead of them and they saw multiple portals near the dorms.
Each of them opened up to a specific area that each group recognized.
The Persona Users and Kazuma’s group had their homes, Ainz had the Tomb of Nazarick, Class VII had Thor’s Military Academy, the School-Living Club had the school, and Doomguy had his base.
(Kazuma) “That’s...That’s our ticket home...?”
It had been such a long time since any of them saw any part of their original worlds. Some had been in Fodlan longer than others.
(Byleth) “...It would seem that way.”
Yu was the first to approach his portal. It was a portal back into the Dojima residence. He poked his head around inside, and it didn’t feel like it would close. At least not yet.
He put his hand onto the nearest object to the portal and grabbed it, going out of the portal and squeezing it. It was just the TV remote, yet it felt like it had ages since he saw anything familiar that brought him comfort.
(Yuri) “So...it seems like he wasn’t playing you for fools.”
(Dimitri) “That’s something I’ve been thinking about...All this time, he’s been looking out for you all, even if it has been in a gruff manner. Even us, to some extent.”
(Edelgard) “If what he said about our past is true-”
(Claude) “Hang on now, we seriously can’t be considering just following what he says! Even if it does work out fine for them, what will happen to us?!”
(Byleth) “We could get caught in an infinite loop just like he was...Or rather, is.”
(Ainz) “And there’s no garuntee that we wouldn’t caught in it ourselves. After all, our memories are scrambled at the moment.”
(Aigis) “Data indicates we are in the same year as Yu and Akira, although we are in our past appearances.”
(Rean) “And, we forgot each time we were in the loop...What happens if we forget all of this? About the tower, about each other?”
[Rally - Red vs Blue OST]
“...”
(Sitri) “He...He has been the one with you this entire time, going by what he says.”
(Byleth) “What does that make me? A failed imitation?”
(Yuuri) “And...he said everything you know is because of him, right?”
Doomguy shrugged as the others similarly struggled for the right answer.
(Kazuma) “Wait a sec, Sitri. That voice we all heard was Sothis right, she was just saying “Stop them”. What if that meant...Lahabrea and Sothis?”
(Everyone) !!!
(Ainz) “What? Why wouldn’t she have said it sooner?”
(Sharon) “Perhaps the tower had something to do with it? The more violent it was, the more we were able to hear her, after all.”
(Towa) “I-I’m not sure if we COULD stop him. If he knows inside and out, wouldn’t he know how we fight and what our weaknesses are?”
(Crow) “Plus, he could summon those Phantom things, right? We’d get overwhelmed pretty quickly.”
(Yu) “Seems like the odds are stacked against us. That’s never stopped us before-”
(Dimitri) “But his aim is not to kill us. It’s to save us. I don’t think killing Lahabrea is the right answer-”
(Edelgard) “I sincerely doubt he will listen to reason.”
(Yuri) “And plus if we do wanna stop him, we gotta get to that tower! We’re all the way in Garreg Mach. If we use Rean’s golem thing to teleport, we could be lacking some serious heavy hitters!”
Doomguy checked the ammunition on his guns. It was low, and he shook his head.
(Sara) “Byleth...what IS our plan?”
(Byleth) “I...I don’t know.”
“...”
No one said anything for what seemed like an eternity. All of them faced each other or the ground, unsure of what to do.
None of this felt right. If they got it wrong, then it could mean the end of ALL their worlds, and not just Fodlan.
If they fought back, then they would no doubt get completely overwhelmed.
And if by some miracle they did reach Lahabrea, could they even stop him with both Sothis and his knowledge of them.
Yuki came back to the group, wielding a sword she grabbed from the armory.
(Yuuri) “Y-Yuki?”
(Yuki) “If you do go back...Thank you for being my friend.”
She had a relatively large bag on her as she moved towards the gate.
(Kazuma) “Hey, where the hell do you think you’re going?!”
Kazuma and his group ran over to block Yuki’s path.
(Darkness) “Are you-”
(Yuki) “I’m going to the Tower, with or without everyone.”
(Megumin) “What?! But you’d get killed, not even mentioning the journey there!”
(Yuki) “I know, but we have to try something!”
(Miki) “Yuki-senpai, maybe you should-”
(Yuki) “Think about it? Don’t worry, I have.”
Everyone turned to Yuki. She could feel the pressure of all their gazes on her, but she stood her ground.
(Yuki) “There was a promise I made to Megu-nee before all of this happened. Even if I’m scared, and which I really am, I won’t stop. I’m sad Megumi, Minato and Minako are...gone. But even if that’s the case, I have to keep going. For them, and the people still here.”
She blinked away tears she felt forming and straightened her posture.
(Yuki) “And for this case...we all have each other. Lahabrea may have called our meeting a mistake, Byleth an accident, and that we don’t remember everything, but I don’t care! Even if these feelings I have aren’t real, they’re real to me! I don’t care if our meeting was a mistake, you’re all still my friends.”
She awkwardly held the sword in her hands. In all honesty, she could barely hold it, but she refused to back down now.
(Yuki) “And if I can fight or scream or cry about it to change something, then I’ll do it. If I go into that portal now, I could never bring myself to tell Megumi I ran away. I ran away from the problems I’m facing, and that I ran away from all of you.”
“...”
(Yuki) “If you don’t want to go with me, I understand. But I’m going, and that’s final.”
(Kurumi) “Not without us you aren’t.”
[High Treason - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers OST]
Kurumi put her shovel onto her shoulders and nodded.
(Kurumi) “We’re the School-Living Club, we stick together!”
Yuuri and Miki stepped forward as well.
(Miki) “I can’t leave either, not now, not any of you.”
(Yuuri) “You have us, Yuki-chan.”
Doomguy stepped forward activating his wristblade and hitting his chest with his fist.
(Kazuma) grumbling “Fine. FINE. Just...ugh, be careful.”
(Aqua) “Hah...You know what? The Goddess of water can spare this kindness for you. With me, you won’t fail!”
(Darkness) “You have my sword.”
(Megumin) “AND MY EXPLOSIONS!”
Doomguy, the School-Living Club, and Kazuma’s group stepped behind Yuki.
(Akira) “There were many times when the Phantom Thieves faced similar odds and risks. And we never backed down from them. This time, not any different.”
(Aigis) “Minato and Minako gave their lives originally for us to continue living our lives, facing whatever may come our way head on. It would be a disgrace to abandon that chance.”
(S.E.E.S) “Yeah!” Bark!
(Yu) “We’ve faced down gods before, this isn’t too different. We’ll find the truth here, as we always have!”
The Persona users stood behind Yuki.
(Ainz) “...I decreed at our first meeting you were to be under the protection of Ainz Ooal Gown. I don’t break promises.”
Ainz slammed his staff onto the floor, the Denizens of Nazarick bowing.
(Rean) “I think I can safely speak for Class VII when I say, we will never leave a classmate behind, and we won’t run away from any challenges thrown our way, especially if it means saving our friends.”
House Isekai stood united, with Yuki looking at Byleth.
(Yuki) “No matter what he tells us...You’ll always be our one and only Byleth. And you all, our friends. Edelgard, Yuri, Claude, Dimitri...All of you. We won’t leave you to your fates.”
(Edelgard) “...Hah, amazing speech, Takeya. The Adrestian Empire thanks you all for your service.”
(Yuri) “Shame you guys didn’t work for us. Would’ve been one hell of a PR.”
(Dimitri) “I do not have the words to thank you all...Instead, I can only offer you my strength.”
(Claude) “So, we got the sappy stuff outta ‘em. What say you, Teach?”
Byleth was shocked by the sheer loyalty they had. That everyone still had.
It made his chest swell with pride for the class he had the privilege of teaching. Letting this go to waste would be a crime in of itself.
(Sitri) “...I do not think we are ones to run from our troubles, are we?”
Byleth smiled and held his sword tightly.
(Byleth) “Students of Garreg Mach...We have our mission.”
(Byleth) “Our mission is to stop Lahabrea and Sothis from using the tower to rewind time. Above all else, you WILL survive together, and graduate from Garreg Mach as proper students.”
(Kazuma) “...Wow, that was really lame-”
(Kurumi) “KAZUMA!”
(Kazuma) “What? We’re about to go stop universes from colliding and all he can do is bring up school? Psh. Even Schwarzer can come up with better cheesy speeches.”
(Sara) “...He kinda has a point-”
(Rean) “Instructor Sara you are not making things better.”
Byleth rolled his eyes and cleared his throat.
(Byleth) “When he sees us there, prepare for the most extreme resistance on the way.”
(Claude) “The Investigation Team and my group have been inside the tower once. We can lead the way.”
(Byleth) “Understood.”
(Yuki) “Um...Actually, Megumin did have a good point earlier. How are we gonna get there in time?”
(Yuri) “Something tells me you got something planned other than the golem?”
Byleth nodded and turned to Sitri.
(Byleth) “They said to us before they resurrected Sitri for her connection to Sothis. What if we tried to teleport like they did?”
(Sitri) “Can...Can I do that?”
(Dimitri) “Suppose there’s only one way to find out.”
Everyone took a step back from Sitri as she raised her hand and concentrated.
She took a deep breath and clenched her hand.
“...”
“...”
(Aqua) “Nothing’s happening-”
(Akechi) “No shit.”
KAFOOOM!
The world began to shake as a portal opened in front of the group.
(Dedue) “Huh. She did it.”
(Hilda) “WOOOH, GO MOMMA BYLETH!”
(Hubert) “Please refrain from calling her that-”
(Byleth) “I second that-”
(Sitri) “Um...”
Sitri examined herself and turned back to them in confusion.
(Sitri) “...That wasn’t me.”
(Akira) “...W-What now?”
[The Heroes’ Gauntlet - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers OST]
From the portal stepped out the Velvet Attendees.
(Marie) “Yu, why are you guys just standing around?!”
(Yu) “What the-What are you doing out of the Velvet Room?!”
(Elizabeth) “Worlds are being...how do you say?”
(Theodore) “Excuse the crude language, BUT ROYALLY SCREWED!”
(Aigis) “What?!”
(Lavenza) “Please stop asking questions, we are barely holding off the shadows in your respective worlds as it is!”
(Margaret) “Time is of the essence, go now. Do NOT stop.”
All 5 attendees pointed towards the portal, which led into Inaba.
(Byleth) “You heard the ladies, GARREG MACH, MOVE IT!”
As everyone jumped through the portal, the world began to shake.
The streets of Inaba had soldiers and police officers taking down Shadows, one of the officers being Dojima. The skies were the same pale white color they had seen everywhere.
(Officer) “D-Dojima, sir! Isn’t that-”
(Dojima) “What in the hell, Yu?!”
(Yu) “Dojima!”
(Soldier) “HERE THEY COME!”
Before the soldiers could open fire, Margaret brought out a tarot card and summoned a Persona with two large katanas which split them in half.
(Soldier) “What the hell did that Lady just?”
(Margaret) “Apologies for distracting you despite what I said, this is one of the only safe passages.”
She snapped her fingers and another portal opened up, this time leading into what seemed like an empty field.
Before Byleth went in, a massive robot similar to Valimar flew past, blasting apart what appeared to be glowing orange phantoms.
(Rean) “Isn’t that...?”
(Juna) “Instructor?!”
The group jumped through the portal and saw a massive tower in the field, the giant suits engaging the targets as students ran around with their weapons opening fire. The skies were the same pale white color.
(Kurt) “Instructor Rean? Why...are you so young looking?”
(Altina) “This is not an appropiate time to be asking.”
(Musse) “Oooh, he was so handsome when he was our age~”
(Ash) “Knock it off will ya?!”
Ash used his scythe to slice apart a Phantom that got too close to the group.
(Ash) “You gonna sit there or get your ass moving?!”
(Rean) “R-Right!”
They all moved past, engaging phantoms as they tried to find the next portal.
(Elliot) “Rean, we’ll stay and help these students out!”
(Angelica) “Need our strongest in that tower, we’d just slow you down!”
(Crow) “Meet ya when we’re done here, yeah?”
Rean nodded and disbanded with the rest of Class VII.
Through the next portal, Kazuma’s group was the first ones in, slamming straight into another girl.
(Megumin) “H-Hey, watch-!!!”
(Yunyun) “MEGUMIN, WHAT THE HECKS GOING ON?! THERE’S THIS TOWER THAT SHOWED UP AND-”
Megumin hit her with her staff and yelled.
(Megumin) “PORTAL, NOW!”
(Yunyun) “OW, W-WHAT?!”
Kazuma hit Megumin on the back of the head.
(Kazuma) “She doesn’t make the portals YOU FUCKING MORON! Sorry Yunyun, hold out as long as you can! Get Wiz ASAP!”
She nodded, obviously confused.
As they were trying to find the next exit, they saw several spellcasters wiping out more orange phantoms. They appeared to resemble soldiers, but upon closer inspection-
(Dimitri) “Are those Kingdom soldiers?!”
(Claude) “N-No, some of them are Alliance-”
(Edelgard) “Imperials too!”
(Yuri) “Think Lahabrea is trying to stop us?”
(Byleth) “No, he wouldn’t send soldiers to attack all of their homeworlds indiscriminately if he was trying to save us, I think the towers are just going out of control.”
(Aqua) “At least they’re in worlds we know, right?”
They stepped through the next portal and were immediately confronted by 8 foot tall soldiers heavily clad in armor with massive rifles thundering in their ears.
(Ainz) “Aqua do you ever know when to shut the hell up?”
The environment they were in was clearly a different planet, yet there was the tower and the pale white skies.
One of the soldiers turned around and spoke through his helmet.
(Yuuri) “Y-Yes?”
The soldier stepped in front of the School-Living Members as arrows failed to pierce through his armor.
(Massive Armored Soldier) “The Librarians spoke of your arrival. Head through the ruins ahead for safe passage. We shall guard you all with our lives, professor.”
(Byleth) “T-Thank you?”
(Massive Armored Soldier) “SPACE MARINES, ADVANCE! SHOW THEM NO MERCY!”
More soldiers clad in the same armor moved forward, their rifles almost deafening everyone as several accompanied them into a ruined building. Countless dead aliens littered the floor as they moved into the portal.
(Soldier) “May the Emperor watch over you.”
(Edelgard) “Uh-”
(Soldier) “Not you.”
The next portal they stepped into was resembled a tomb of some sort, luckily it was a wide enough area for them to enter.
(Giant Cockroach) “LORD AINZ, IS THAT YOU?”
Almost everyone had a kneejerk reaction upon seeing it.
A giant cockroach wielding a crown, cape, and cane ran up to him, hundreds of cockroaches skittering behind him as they tried to halt more orange phantoms.
(Ainz) “Kyouhukou! Everyone is to be on max alert until I get back! We’ll explain everything later! Floor Guardians, you are to defend Nazarick with your lives”
(Kyouhukou) “U-Understood milord!”
(Floor Guardians) “Yes, Lord Ainz!”
The Floor Guardians and Pleiades reluctantly followed the giant cockroach as they drew their weapons.
(Kyouhukou) “Milord, one of my children will lead the way to a portal from which they spawn!”
(Ainz) “Appreciated!”
(Yuri) “That...was traumatizing.”
(Byleth) “Keep moving!”
The cockroach on the floor led them to the portal as promised and everyone hopped through.
(Claude) “Ya know, why are we just hopping through other worlds JUST to get to the tower, we couldn’t have just chosen a place right outside the tower?”
(Yuki) “Like that?”
Everyone looked to where Yuki was pointing out.
The portal indeed led into Fodlan.
It was also being swarmed with orange phantoms and catastrophic shaking.
(Claude) “...Other worlds it is! Speaking of where are-”
CRUNCH!
Everyone turned to Dimitri, who had stepped on a crop. Or, rather several.
(Dimitri) “What in the-”
CLANG!
An orange phantom fell behind Dimitri, exploding into light particles. And where the phantom was, a young farmer was there, holding a claymore.
(Young Farmer) “Professor, move towards the Airship landing, oh and someone else who knows you will have something for you!”
(Hilda) “How do these people know who we are if we’ve never met them!?”
(Hubert) “Did you not hear what he said, GET MOVING!”
As everyone ran off, a sword dropped off near Miki’s foot, which she turned to face who threw it.
A small fairy floated next to the girl, and both of them ran from their stall over to the guards.
(Miki) “T-Thank you...?!”
Another portal opened up in front of them as they were moving and were almost crushed by several armored colored soldiers. All of them were firing their weapons behind the groups as they were running forward.
(Red colored soldier) “COME ON DIRTBAGS, HURRY IT UP!”
(Aqua Colored Soldier) “SWISH!”
The aqua colored one moved forward and sliced a Phantom in half with some sort of energy sword.
(Aqua Colored Soldier) “HOHO DUDE, THAT WAS TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME-”
(Gray and Yellow accented soldier) “Shut up and focus Tucker. Hey! Portals at the end of the pier get moving! Everyone, onto the next portal!”
(Dark Blue Colored Soldier) “GOODBYE GARREG MACH FRIENDS!”
(Aqua Colored Soldier) “Caboose, shut the fuck up and get moving!”
The group thought it best to ignore...whatever that was and kept moving. Though they did appreciate the fire support.
The portal at the airship showed the Zanado Tower at long last.
(Kazuma) “Thank god, LET’S GO!”
Everyone hopped through it, only to plummet down from a cliff.
As everyone screamed in terror, giant winged creatures resembling pterodactyls picked them up with wire, flying them towards the tower.
(Sitri) “W-Wha?!”
As they looked around, they noticed a man in red armor flying next to them.
The armored man waved enthusiastically to them, and it was only then they noticed a cat in armor holding a small club was dangling off his leg, flying back into another portal.
As they landed in front of the tower, they saw orange phantoms appear in front of the gate with weapons drawn.
(Rean) “Alright, LET’S GET THEM-”
Another portal opened next to them, and from it, what appeared to be a child came running out, expertly cutting all of them down with a sword.
When the child finished and sheathed his sword, it looked a lot like Byleth’s.
In fact, it looked exactly the same, including the child.
(Edelgard) “Uh-”
(Child resembling Byleth) “Not a word. Don’t bring up the age, and do NOT get distracted. I have no idea what you guys caused, just fix it.”
An arrow flew out of the portal, almost hitting him as he ducked down. He reached for his hilt and turned to the older Byleth.
(Child resembling Byleth) “Oh, and tell Sothis I said hi.”
With that, he ran back into the portal, which closed immediately after.
(Aigis) “Beginning door breach!”
Everyone nodded and drew their weapons out.
(Hubert) “Your majesty, enemies approaching!”
(Darkness) “Haha...that’s a LOT of them!”
(Constance) “Do NOT MAKE THAT NOISE-”
(Ann) “Final stand?”
(Yosuke) “Yeah, you guys go kick ass!”
(Mitsuru) “Leave command to us, Aigis. Go.”
(Yuri) “Think this is more of your business than mine, honestly.”
(Sitri) “Yuuri, you and the others are with me!”
(Yuki, Kurumi, Miki, Yuuri) “Right!” “Got it!” “Feel a LOT safer that way.”
When the tower doors opened there were only a handful of people entering.
The fate of all their worlds lay in the hands of Byleth, Sitri, Edelgard, Claude, Dimitri, Rean, Doomguy, Ainz, Aigis, Kazuma, the School-Living Club, Yu and Akira.

Do you have any tips for people who want to start writing? Specifically dialogue or how to research thoroughly?
Sure! For starting writing in general, the best advice to start with is look at the stories you yourself love, and identify what you love most in them. Relationships of a certain kind, high-stakes fight scenes, murder mysteries and scenes where people have to choose under pressure who they’re going to trust, redemption arcs, someone ending up adopting a child more or less because the kid has no one else to look after them? If there are scenarios you daydream about writing stories in your head, what are the common themes? No matter how oddly specific that gets or how often or scarcely you see it in fiction, I garuntee you you’re not the only one who likes it, and it’s good to base writing ideas around whatever you want to see more of yourself. You’ll be happy writing it, and the other people who yearn for it too, once they find you, will be very happy to see some as well! For me, I’ve always really enjoyed stories where someone who has no connection to the action ends up choosing to do the right thing and gets pulled into dangerous scenarios, found family, hope punk, and scenes where someone is injured/sick/drugged/unconscious/trapped and ends up at the mercy of someone they expect to hurt them, but who chooses to do absolutely nothing bad to them and saves/helps/looks after them instead (to name a few of many, many faves, haha). Some of those are pretty broad and some are wildly specific, but I love writing them all, and I’m not the only person who enjoys reading them either, so it’s a great kind of springboard to work with. : ) —Ok, for the specific questions though—I’ll do them in two parts to go with the two questions.
For writing dialogue, the biggest thing is to establish distinctive voices for all your cast. That sounds a lot harder than it is. The first real step is just to have some idea who they are as a person. Now, I know you probably don’t have time to be Bleach and have a sidebar backstory that goes for eleven pages about every guard who gets knocked out (and tbh I wouldn’t recommend it either haha), but don’t worry—you don’t need to. A lot of the time, I know very little about characters who aren’t primary cast when I write them first, and only during writing really get to know them either. Think of it a little as improv acting. If you ever have like, done bits with your friends, you actually know how to do this whether you’ve acted a day in your life or not. Friend greeting you on the phone with a fake accent & pretending to be an interviewer & you responding in kind & being like “Well yes, in my best selling novel How to Kill your Ex-Boss” and just running with it totally counts. You have no idea who the person you’re pretending to be is. You don’t know their favorite food or where they went to school. But you do know what they’re going to say next, because you’ve tapped into the person you’re running, and that’s the only thing you need to know. Same if you have ever given yourself fake interviews in your head. You’re playing both interviewer, fiction self (for whom you are for SURE making up details on the fly) & anyone else involved in that scene simultaneously. Writing can be pretty similar. Now, I do this to a bigger extent then most people, because I method-write (which uhhhh, I cant completely recommend, as it is devestating on the emotions :’-] ), but it works used less extremely too.
The idea, really, is to give characters a voice in your head, and have that voice not be the same for any two characters. And I mean voice literally. What do they sound like. Do they talk fast, get excited & into topics easily? Always sound mildly done with everyone else? If it helps, pick the voice of an actor or a friend or different tones you can use yourself speaking outloud—just give them voices. A lot of it will start flowing pretty naturally once the character is created. Writing has a lot of overlap with acting, in that you really need to grasp and be able to kind of jump around in a lot of different types of peoples’ heads. Most people have significantly different ways of speaking, even if they don’t have different accents than your other characters. Some people cuss more, some never do, you get varried vocabulary sizes, and just word choice and tone. I’m probably making this sound a little hard and overwhelming, but trust me, it’s not so bad. Mostly it will come naturally once you get a mental idea of what your character is like, sounds like, and the vibes they give off.
From a more technical standpoint, a couple of really good suggestions are to run dialogue in your head before writing it, and to read your written dialogue out loud. No matter how well you write, you will think dialogue better most of the time. This is just how it goes, because writing is a different process. So something that helps is to mentally “play” a scene out, and jot down some of the dialogue as you hear it, or to pause in writing to run some of the scene mentally, then pick back up again. Another big one is that almost all people, when writing dialogue, will start out writing too formally. Now, that’s totally fine if your character actually just speaks very formally, but most people 80% of the time speak using contractions. Like, you’d probably say, “Hey! How’re you doing? It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” and not “Hey! How are you doing? It has been a while, has it not?” (And obviously, most people aren’t going to actually write out “has it not,” but simpler ones like “How are” vs “How’re” or “It is” vs “It’s” are super common to write. Try to keep that in mind writing dialogue, and also try reading your dialogue out loud verbatim. A lot of the time, something will read totally normal to you, but the second you hear it out loud, you’ll go “Oh. Oh, no. No one speaks like this.” It is SUPER helpful, and kind of funny too. Also, don’t be afraid to use verbal interrupters like “Uh” or “Uhm” or substitues for them like “Well” and “Like” —people use ‘em when they speak. We also tend to interrupt our friends to agree when talking about stuff, because the way language is set up a lot of the time you know the end of a sentence before it is said.
Other things that govern how characters speak a lot are their comfort level in a scene and what they want, how open or closed off they are about themselves in general, and their personal ways of thinking in general. For example, Joey Harmin and Quentin Smith are extremely fun to write in scenes together for me, because they both follow fairly understandable and clear logical thought paths, but those paths are completely different. Like they could not be operating on less similar wavelengths half the time, which is hilarious. There’s an exchange I haven’t uploaded for New Dawn Fades where they’re talking for the first time, and Joey is operating nearly 100% on small-picture context (But since you woke up, I have been very nice to you. Why don’t you trust me?) and Quentin is operating at nearly 100% big-picture context (You have killed me before—I have literally no reason to think you won’t any second now once again. I have no idea why you have not already). And both thought lines make total sense for the character to be following, but they could not be more confused by each others’ response. People think super weirdly and super different from each other, and that’s amazing, and some times you legit wont totally get what wild shit your own character is on, but that’s fine. You don’t need to—you just need to know it makes sense to them, and be able to understand it on some logic level, even if you could never really get it emotionally or more really than ‘in theory’ on a personal level. Also, side note—sometimes people speak super differently when in a professional setting vs relaxed, or with different friends, and that’s totally fine. Also-also, you might notice that if some characters spend a lot of time together, they start to speak similarly—that’s super normal too—don’t worry. It’s not you doing a bad job. Friends tend to pick up each others’ mannerisms and speech to some extent, and this is wildly more apparent when they hang out together.
This was a very long and in-depth answer to writing dialogue, but really, don’t let it overwhelm you. The TLDR is more or less just give them different voices in your head, and listen to them, then write down what you hear. Read it out loud to make sure it sounds like them if you feel unsure about it. I personally get into character and try to really think as/become them a bit at least when writing, because I approach writing from a very acting-based standpoint becuase that’s just how I am wired, but even if that’s not how you vibe, just know them a little. Know once you’ve talked to someone for like, three minutes, you have some idea how they talk. The synonym they’d chose, if they’d agree, or disagree, or just give a judgy look, or stay quiet. Know them that well, and try to hear them in your head. Read everything you write for them in that voice, thinking that voice well you write, and it’ll do wonders.
Now, for research.
First up, research is FUN! It’s amazing. It’s so wild to learn things and dip into thousands of parts of human existence you had no idea about at all. Try to think of it as a plus, not a pain, because really, it should be. Now, to be fair, I lean heavy into research—I’ll do days of research to try to find something out if I have to, and I have. I’m learning some of how to write and conjugate an extremely dead language right now for a fanfic, I’ve done massive deep dives from everything to ancient cultures and religions, screen shotting films to zoom in on set detail to learn what artist or band a character is into, what they drink, what they own, to the appproximate timing from specific streets in New York I’ve never seen to each other by specific subway line, to a myriad of wounds and diseases, to mental illness, to historical events as insignificant as marsh draining in specific cities. But bro? It was fun. Sometimes it’s a lot, but the thrill of finding what you were looking for? It’s great.
Now, I’m not saying you need to be me if you don’t want to haha. But when it comes to researching whatever you want to research, here’s some tips: First up, if what you are researching has anything to do with a human experience? (Mental illness, physical illness or injury, sex, birthing, death, how it feels to shoot a gun, or fall from a great height, or have a PTSD episode, anything like that?) You really need to hear it from people, if at all possible. The good news? In this day and age? It super is, almost always! Even with death. You can find people describing death (body death, not complete brain death) experiences they went through, and it’s very cool. I definitely recommend discussion threads, like Reddit, and YouTube videos of people giving their personal accounts for this kind of thing. They’re amazing resources, and also usually surprisingly fast! This is especially important for stuff like neurodivergence, disorders, mental illness, drug experiences, or anything else that’s on a cognitive more than physical level, because if you look at just textbook explanations, they’re not only usually very incomplete, but sometimes even inaccurate. Listening to people can give the truth if it’s missing, and the majority of the time while that’s not the biggest issue—especially concerning like, wounds or freezing or a near drowning experience, etc—it gives it a completeness a medical account just can’t. Also, if you have got any personal experience to lean on? Go for it! I’ve never been electrocuted horribly really, but when researching for the torture sequence in Proven, I both looked up a ton of first-hand accounts and some science to better understand what was going on, and took my own experience of the electric shocks I have gotten as the first building block in making a mental picture of what it would feel like to go through that. Obviously, being shocked hard enough to be flung backwards from a cattle fence (my history) is a far cry from being subjected to parrilla torture, but having a small amount of basic knowledge of the kind of pain electricity causes was useful as a first block in translating the information I was reading into something I understood better.
For non human-experience based research, a lot of it is pretty easy to look up, even if you wouldn’t think so. For example, guessing at the time period for cars in Autohaven and searching different years + truck + brand names for American cars was actually a really short process for finding a match—same with the make of the metal gas cans, back when I was trying to determine when, exactly, Philip was from. Visual image searches are great when applicable, especially if you’re trying to figure out what something is, because chances are if you describe a plant you saw once as ‘Tall lake reed plant with hotdog bun looking top,’ someone else will have once used some of those words when searching for a cattail as well. Also, for non-human research, books and academic papers are great, but so are non-academic sources like videos and photos for locations or objects. Sometimes again though, human info will honestly be where it is at, like reading firsthand descriptions of specific places. For most things, just type what you’re looking for into a search engine honestly and start there. You can totally start on the Wikipedia page for a city or a Greek god or a type of bomb, and move on from there—people put references in wiki articles, and you can check the bottom of the page for the specific source too. You can go on from basic knowledge to add or subtract keywords and refine your search. It’s pretty simple once you get going. If you’re getting extraneous results because a film title shares the name of what you are looking for, or a song or whatever, try quotation marks for an exact match, or - and then quotation marks around what you see that you want gone from results. Pretty basic stuff. Tbh, a lot of the time, it’s all you’re gonna need. Want to write a Stranger Things fic, but you have no idea what movies or shows were popular in the US at the time and need to know what they’d be watching in a scene? Honestly, searching “1980s (or 1980whatever-more-specific year) popular shows” will probably get you what you need in like 4 minutes. Also, if you’ve got a parent who was alive at the time and lived in the place, or older friend (or younger, I don’t know you, maybe this one doesn’t apply to you because YOU were there, but you’d have to ask a teenager irl now what the kids are into for a 20teens story, haha), utilize that resource and just ask them. Discussion spaces again, a massively useful resource. You can find people talking about their shared experiences with almost anything, and hear it more or less first-hand.
If you’re trying to learn about culture or history, again, first-person accounts are where it’s at. If you can’t find any, go for the next best thing, which is descendants or historians with a personal connection/interest. If you really, really can’t find much of that (as sadly has been the case for some cultures or religions I’ve researched in past, considering the lack of documentation period and/or intentional culture erasure going on), then read what you do find on it with a grain of salt. Who wrote it, and when? What biases did they bring? Also, often an old document like that might be the only first source you can find, but taking whatever badly documented info they have and trying new searches with the specific language you learned from them can yield new and much better results. Just do your level best. ^u^ Really, that’s all anyone can do. Sometimes there will be things without much out there period, and you don’t have to like, put 97 hours of research in combing your local library for any thing you may have missed for the fic you’re on right now or something. Just do your best, do what you can, and care, and you’ll be okay. It can seem daunting, but doing your sincere best is what anyone who does know the answer—living or dead—would care about, and it’s an important thing /to/ do, and also a pretty informative and fun one. Also, I swear it’s not as intimidating as I might make it seem. Pretty much always you’ll be able to find some decent chunks of solid and very useful information eventually, on anything. And most things actually do not at all take that long to research. I’m a monster, who likes to down research more and more each morning like I’m building up a resistance to iocaine powder to someday win a battle of wits, but you really don’t have to be me, and if you want to be, chances are that means you also just really heckin love learning new facts, so you’re gonna love the wild deep insanity of creating It’s Always Sunny Meme level conspiracy walls trying to track down ancient evil trees in mythology to figure out what in the goddamn the Entity really IS and you’ll adore it all. If you’re not, trust me—that’s completely fine. Most research is gonna take between 20 minutes and a few hours, depending on the level of complexity, and once you learn it, you have all this cool new knowledge! Like that you can fake a death with tetrodotoxin so well someone with a high but not fatal does in them could die undergoing an autopsy! Or how much opium kills someone, how it actually feels to black out, how hard it actually is to chloroform someone, or that wolves have been known to hold funerals for loved ones, or how to stitch a wound. It’s like, amazing. Join me, and become that thing from Adventure Time going “I have approximate knowledge of many things” while rubbing its grimy hands together with glee.
Uhhh haha, I made this one more concise wildly, but the TLDR version is just ask people or read or watch what people who have undergone X thing say it is like (oh, and make sure to read more than one account—big one with accuracy). For non-human research, start with just a basic search. If you’re a student and have access to academic searches more easily, totally use that. If not, don’t worry. Lots of academic search compilation sites are still open to you, and honestly, you’re only going to need to turn academic for highly specific and wildly rare information period. Most of the time, hear it from people who know the answer. Discussion forums and YouTube journal-type videos are fantastic resources. For what living in rural Wisconsin in the early 1980s was like for Philip, I searched about living in the early 1980s in rurual Wisconsin, found specific names in an article for the kinds of cheap apartments common, adjusted my search, and found a ton of good resources by people documenting the struggles and mistreatment of life there at the time, and also found out Milwaukee is surprisingly one of the most dangerous and racist cities in America, then and now, on the way. For Kate experiencing being forced to drink bleach, I watched seven different people on YouTube talk about their experiences drinking bleach, and read up on the medical side to understand the science of what happens to you, plus a few text descriptions as well. But really, both of those were pretty fun and fascinating and quick research stints. Most are. I super recommend trying some deepish dives out, even just for fun and not with writing planned in mind at all!
Anyway, I hope this helps! I wrote it at one in the morning & didn’t proof because I feel very bad and need to pass out to try and heal, so sorry if there are any errors that make this hard to read. Thanks for asking! This was fun to answer. Please feel free to ask any follow-ups if there’s something I didn’t seem to cover, or you want to know more about either of these or something else. I’m certainly not the world’s leading expert or something, but I got some fun methods and tips I’ve developed over the years I’m happy to share with a fellow writer (or bored or curious person just interested in the process, haha). Again, I gave long answers because I wanted to be thorough, but I promise neither dialogue nor research is a difficulty level reflected in the length of those answers—that’s just me being me. Don’t let it intimidate you! They’re both fun and actually not so hard things to do. You just kind of need to learn your starting off points and get your sea legs, and the rest mostly comes naturally and easily and is very fun. It’s super satisfying to read a line and be like “Only you, my dumb child” seeing the stupid crap they say, or “You’ve come so far” watching how they’re choosing to reach out to someone now vs as the story’s start; or to have needed a way to have a character pry open a wedged car door and find just exactly the perfect tool you could even have a logical reason for them to easily find in the scene and be able to sit back down thinking YES!!! I got it!! —it’s a rush, and very, very satisfying. I’m sure you can do it!! And I wish you the best of luck. I sadly made this on mobile because I forgot tumblr sucks and won’t let me retroactively add read mores on mobile now and it’s too late for me to change that, and I’m so sorry this is so long 😭😭😭, but I’m tagging it “long post” so hopefully tag blocks can still save people :’-] — anyway! Hope this helps and best of luck. Night! 💙

When I was little, I used to love Barney, like most kids in the early 90′s. At one point, I even had a stuffed Barney that was very close to the design of the toy in the show. I knew mine would never come to life, but the extra detail made it feel so magical and for a variety of reasons, it was very sentimental and I loved it dearly. I often played alone so obviously toys and stuffed animals played a big part in my imaginary adventures and this stuffed Barney was no exception. And then while at preschool. In between arriving and naptime. Someone stole it. And I never saw it again. I was devastated, to say the least. My grandmother got me a new one, but it wasn’t the same. Literally and figuratively. The new one was wearing a shirt for some odd reason, and it’s mouth was sewn shut and overall it looked very odd. There was no charm, no magic. By second grade, I loathed Barney. Between losing the stuffed toy and having one of the lessons I had learned from the show backfire in a painful way, I wanted nothing more to do with it. I carried that hate for years, and eventually it turned into a neutral feeling to hardly ever thinking about it. Obviously, I knew all the words to the mean version of the ending song from the show...the “I hate you, you hate me, let’s team up and kill Barney.” I think that’s still a thing that people start singing when they hit a certain age. I sang it so much I actually forgot the words to the actual song. Regardless, Barney! Not something I’ve really put much thought into lately. And lately, I’ve been burned out - prior to Covid, though Covid definitely didn’t help. And while burned out I was crushed in all the worst ways possible and if I were the Doctor I would’ve died and struggled to regenerate. Whatever spark or light I had been holding onto prior to recent events is snuffed out, gone, and it would take an impossible miracle to get it back or at least a similar spark back. Like. That person is *gone* I might as well change my name and face at this point. Needless to say, my dreams have been various flavors of awful, and while that’s not unusual they’ve definitely ramped up in the awfulness more recently. Last night was no exception, but the ending took a bit of a turn. I was at a school, like a mix of schools I’ve been to or seen and weird stuff was going on and I’m not sure how old everyone was? Like we were all kids, teenagers and adults all at the same time cause you know. dream logic. But then for a moment, Barney was there. Which is a first, I think. I genuinely don’t remember any dreams with Barney in it before. But. He was there! But then he wasn’t. Turns out the only people who could see him were people who still believed in the power of the Imagination. (Very Hook). And of course, I stood there in disbelief that I couldn’t see him because I write and draw characters all the time and imagine things, I love imagining stories and dreaming and this was even MY dream why could I NOT see him? I was kind of insulted and spent the rest of the dream trying to prove to myself and everyone that there was nothing wrong with my imagination. Except that there was, or, is. As I was saying, that sparks been pretty much gone. The skill to create hasn’t vanished, and when I have the energy I can still make the art and write. But that spark that makes me enjoy what I made or gets the creative juices flowing. That’s gone. It’s all ash, there’s no re-igniting that flame. When I realized that in the dream I was instantly upset because it meant that I’ve failed my inner child, if I even still had one, and myself and everyone there because it meant that I couldn’t see Barney even though I knew he was there. I even went on a rant about how growing up doesn’t equate losing your imagination, losing that spark, and adults aren’t crazy for wanting to play with their imagination as a way to have fun and relax. But everyone nodded and agreed with me, I hadn’t made any sort of realization I didn’t already know or at least, deeply understand. Like, I was right but it wasn’t what my subconscious was trying to process and deal with. And someone, I don’t know who, asked me if I loved my imagination. As it’s something that has actually plagued me many, many times and well I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve pretty much got 0 self love. I think I said yes, or that I wanted it back, I’m not entirely sure. But it was this general acceptance that one of my strengths has always been the ability to see the magic in the mundane and to share that magic with others by creating something, be it art or a story or whatever I think is the best medium for the magic. I often squish this down in an attempt to fit in or to not look weird, but. It doesn’t stop at stories, because I was also thinking how in general I see the potential in things, in people, in stories. And yeah, that magic can often backfire, and it can hurt, and it can make you feel completely, totally alone when no one else see’s what you do. But that’s what I needed to say. That I can see the magic in the mundane and the potential in every person. Even though I’m burnt out and the spark is gone and I have no real creative juices and no real self love and honestly every year I survive is honestly a surprise and I still can’t promise I’ll make it to 34 for a variety of reasons, (my physical health is rubbish and yadda yadda tomorrow is never guaranteed) but. That’s part of who I am. I see the magic. I see the potential for good, and the potential for bad. And there will be people who will never see what I do, and there will be people who will! And there will be people who don’t see it, but they will believe me - some may see what I do eventually, and there will be those that will never see it even if it’s slapping them in the face and they will take that out on me in negative, awful ways and it will hurt every time. But that’s okay. And it’s okay to be hurt, and it’s okay to lose that spark because the spark is just an energy source. When the batteries die for good you don’t recharge them you throw them out and get new ones! Hell, even dead batteries that are kept in for too long can still explode acid everywhere and eat away at the insides. So yeah, my batteries are dead, and have exploded acid everywhere, and it will take a long time to pry them out, clean up and repair the damage and get fresh batteries. And it’s always possible that I’ll never make it that far. But when I realized this, in the dream. Magic from the mundane and the batteries...Barney popped up again. Though more of a strange dream version of Barney this time, and actually to be completely honest I couldn’t see the face because it was taller than me so all I could really see was a colorful torso but REGARDLESS. I hugged the dream dino and for the first time in YEARS. I remembered the actual lyrics to the ending song from the show. “I love you, you love me. We’re a happy family. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won’t you say you love me too!” What a thing to forget. And I realized, that that’s generally my response to when something I love ends up hurting me in someway shape or form. Ever since I was a small child that’s how I learned to react to a lot of my trauma. The logic of...”It can’t hurt me if I hate it.” Like I’ve known for a while that I’ll avoid something if there’s too much negativity attached to it, and obviously there are lines that will always need to be drawn but. Love won’t always make you feel good, and that’s okay. But replacing love with hate isn’t always what you should do, and hate with always make you feel like crap. Anyways, I’m kind of losing my train of thought but ultimately. I woke up feeling... lighter, in a way. There’s still a lot of bad and I’m stull hurting and broken, etc etc etc but I woke up with no hatred for Barney or sour neutrality and generally my feelings for the show (I’m assuming it’s still on) is that I think it’s a great show that encourages kids to be imaginative and to be loving. And my inability to remember the original lyrics of the song has been replaced with me genuinely struggling to remember the mean lyrics, and I don’t even feel bothered to look them up, because why? Why waste energy I don’t have hating something for unintentionally hurting me, especially when it was something I loved so much and helped me get through other dark, traumatic events that I was exposed to at a very young age? I mean, I’m not about to go out and start buying a whole bunch of Barney merchandise and start watching show, but I can allow myself to enjoy my memories of it from when I was a kid and also forgive myself for hating something just because I was a kid in pain who wanted to protect themselves when no one else would. This sort of thing is more complicated when it comes to people, but, baring exceptions, it’s okay to love the good memories. It’s okay to still love a place, or a thing, or a food you enjoyed alongside a toxic ex, and it’s okay if you can’t do that. It’s okay to never want them in your life ever again, and it’s okay to hope that things can heal and mend and the two of you can reconnect in a healthy manner and the second time around is positive and healthy. It’s okay to grieve a death for as long as you need to, and it’s okay to move on and find love again.
But whenever possible, chose love. Because love will let you know when to change your batteries, hate will make you keep those dead batteries till they explode acid everywhere and corrode you from the inside out because you hate being alone, afraid, or whatever negative thing is eating away at you but I can garuntee it’s not love that’s making you keep the dead batteries, it’s the deep desire to avoid something negative you hate or are afraid of and that’s perfectly understandable and a reasonable response and everyone works at their own paces. And if you think it will help, write a sticky note that says “change the batteries” or whatever and stick it somewhere you can look whenever you need a reminder. Start with small things! Or don’t! It’s completely up to you! Just whenever you can, remember to chose love, and look for the magic in the mundane and the potential in people. Love can take you everywhere, hate will get you nowhere.

RPG Au Game
This won’t be an event, as there is no set time to submit designs or start/end or any of that. Whoever wants to play can play, and as soon as we have enough teams the game can start. This is just something to do for fun that can last for who knows how long, and we hope to maybe do this once a year if it comes to it?
Anyway, Here are the details:
[Setting Up Teams]
• Unless tagged in the previous post, you can devise a guild or team of up to 8 “players”.
• Within each guild, there must be at least one of each class (Warrior, Mage/Cleric, Rogue, Archer ect.)
• You can design your muse to fit their role as you please, give them levels and other profile info if you’d like. We may find a way to contribute the info later on.
• Come up with a guild name that you all like, this is essential to further your team. As a bonus if you’d like, you can even design your own team flags
• Establish a team leader. The leader will be in charge of challenging other guilds to battle by specifically pairing your player up with an opposing player. They call the shots, so choose wisely
[Initiating Battle]
• Simply put, as said your Leader calls the shots. If you say you’re okay to battle, they can challenge another guild member with you as defense.
• If the opposing team says yes to battle, You are to give Me or @ask-kagenerui pictures of your character in a battle ready stance like the example below. Once it is given to us, it will be placed in a vs template and posted with your tags; This will begin your battle thread.
[Battle]
• Every player starts a battle with 100hp, as such you can bet any number between 1 and 100.
• As the host, I’ll have a coin flip app open for bets. If you were to bet 50 and pick heads, the enemy would lose 50 HP if it lands on heads. However, if the enemy were to bet 100 tails and get tails, it’s an instant kill. Caution is advised when picking numbers
•Of course, whoever has 0 HP at the end loses and the other wins, the losing player isn’t allowed to initiate in BATTLE any longer. Posting a victory pose is up to you.
• This will continue on until only one guild is left standing, and said guild will be proclaimed the victors and be rewarded.
• Bard’s are not useless. Their healing song can be used once to revive 15hp, which could help a lot depending on your situation.
[Terrain Boosts]
• You can pick one of 5 Terrains before battle that can aid in your victory. [Fire, Frost, Forest, Mountain, Desert]
Fire: Even after death, you get one more coin flip and a chance to bet 1-50hp off the other team
Forest: At the beginning of the round you have 150hp instead of just 100
Desert: Your bard can be called in to revive you twice instead of once during battle.
Frost: Your enemy automatically loses 10hp at the beginning of the battle
Mountains: You can call in a friend once and this garuntees that even if you lose a coin flip, the enemy loses 15hp
[What happens if you lose]
• As stated, you won’t be able to battle anymore. You can either join another guild to continue the fight, call it game over and return to your blog responsibilities, or continue the Au via the tavern. There you can interact with other players for as long as you please, drink, mess around and just doddle like an actual lobby.
[What if you win]
• Your guild will be rewarded with a large pink crystal upon victory to act as a trophy. They will be declared champions all year long until the next game, where they will be forced to give it up before losing.
• Top 3 Lucky players will be chosen, the 3 players that have the most kills by the end will have bragging rights as well as perks for future games. If you are selected, a victory pose will be needed for a future collage.
With all that mess out of the way, keep in mind that you do NOT have to be consistent. You don’t have to rush to reply to anything or stick around if you decide to play, it’s just for fun. If there are any questions, please ask Rui and I and we’ll discuss to provide answers—
Once again as well, please tag her and I in any RPG designs so we know you’re playing— Or if you want to draw your character in said style and not be involved, we’d love to see anyway! Should this actually become popular, use for all given material and creativity will be utilized for future “quests” or extensions.
I suppose if you’d like to review, “Vocarpgau” can be a tag to add all of your submissions to as well. Hope this is appealing enough! Thank you all for taking the time to read this clusterfuck.
#this took forever#rpg au#hope you all like#vocarpgau#this will be fun with lots of people hhhh#an example will be created for all who are still confused dont worry#thank you all!#okay to reblog

All This Time (1/2)
Pairing: Sam x Reader
Warnings: Slight sexual daydream, some swearing
Summary: Y/n is one of the best researchers of the paranormal around. For the last several years, Y/n has worked with the Winchesters (who are currently ignoring her calls).
Author’s note: Hey ya’ll, I just thought of this the other day when I posted my new chapter in My Wayward Sons. So I hope you like this little drabble.
Read on: Part 2
Fourteen missed calls. Fourteen.
Those Winchesters sure knew how to miss a god dang phone call. You had been trying to reach them for hours now. You had caught wind of a very important lead on the vengeful spirit they were hunting, but does anybody care?
Obviously not.
What the hell could Sam and Dean possibly be doing? Well…Dean-that one was not a hard guess. He was probably with some girl showing what ‘the birds and the bees’ really were. Sam though? Was a book really more important than your phone call.
Okay…that thought hurt a little more than you’d like to admit to yourself. Sure, you had a soft spot for the younger Winchester, but who wouldn’t? San was kind, intelligent, and to be quite honest, sexy as hell.
Staring down at your cell phone, you let out a sigh of annoyance. For a solid minute you debated on just sending both of those asshats another text, but being annoying to those who are annoying you, is never a good thing. So sighing again, you opted out of texting them and threw your phone down on the couch beside you.
Almost immediately your text tone sounded, and you jumped. Grabbing your phone, you opened your text messages, almost grinning when you read the text.
Sam: “Sorry, beautiful. Was in the shower. Any leads?”
For a second, your mouth went dry. The imagery of Sam Winchester-naked, hot water running off all his toned skin flashed before your eyes in a delish fantasy. It was surreal, and you could almost taste the water droplets you wanted to lick off his skin as they raced downwards towards his navel. Or better yet, outside the skies murky and filled with rain clouds, a heavy rain descending onto his body, drenching his clothes and hair. He breathes out a breath, the rain bounces off his lips like a love song to your eyes. His eyes meet yours as he begins to saunter towards you-
Your text tone sounds again, causing you to startle and almost fall off the couch. Regaining your composure you take a peek at the next message.
Sam: “Awe, c'mon, Y/n. Where’d you go, lol?”
You rolled your eyes, and replied.
You: “Maybe you’re a bit late for the info, Sam. I’m a bit busy with my own needs atm, and not you Winchesters’ for once.”
It wasn’t long before his reply.
Sam: “like food needs or personal needs?”
You: “What are you on?”
Sam: “forget it”
You:“out with it already, Sam!”
This wasn’t the first time Sam had asked about your needs. Normally, you would just brush the awkward situation off and steer the conversation on a more productive route. But today? Today you were pissed off that these boys would just ignore you. Who does that? It doesn’t matter what they were doing, they weren’t the only ones risking their lives for the greater good. How many countless times had you been jumped by monsters or demons for trying to obtain information those Winchesters needed for the cause? How many times had you been hospitalized or had bullet wounds? Too many, that’s for damn sure.
And sure Sam was a walking masterpiece, and of course his personality just sky-rocketed him to the same level as a God, but that doesn't mean he could treat you like a doormat whenever he wanted.
Sam: “Well, we’ve been skirting around this for a while now, and it’s bothering me.”
Y/n: “And what exactly is that?”
Sam: “I know you at least like me, Y/n. And I know you know I like you too. Why won’t you do anything about it?”
Y/n: “oh for the love of everything good, Samuel. We have more important things to worry about than ‘liking’ each other.”
Sam: “like what? I could be gone any day, you could too. Our time isn’t garunteed, but we could comfort each other”
You almost threw your phone in annoyance. Leave it to Sam to sound so right about everything. It really didn't matter that he had just finally admitted to wanting you, it was more a principle on how to address these kinds of things. And addressing them via text message is a big no-no. Besides even if he did like you, you both had demons. Demons that were way to big to even attempt something like this. Hell, it was no secret girls that sleep with Sam wind up dead, or possessed. Though could you blame him for that?
More importantly-Does he blame himself for that?
Y/n: "So? I don't need comfort, Winchester."
Sam: "oh is that so? Can you say that to my face and mean it? Because I couldn't."
You puffed out a breath.
Y/N: "Yes"
Sam: "look outside your window"
That message gave you a pause. Why would you need to look outside your window? He couldn't be out there, right? A hunter is not a hopeless romantic. Those two types of people don’t even belong in the same sentence together. It was absurd.
A small knock on your window threw your head towards it. You watched the window in confusion, it being on the third floor made it impossible for anyone to be knocking the glass. As you starred you saw a small rock land against the glass, making a soft knocking sound. Crossing to your window and throwing it open, you looked down to the ground to see Sam standing there with a handful of pebbles.
When your eyes met, he dropped all the pebbles and gave you the biggest, earth shattering smile. He reached up to wave, and cleared his throat. “Y/n, please...let down thy hair.”
You burst out laughing, “Go away, Winchester!”
His brow raised at the challenge, “Y/n, don't be cruel. Open thy home for me.”
You giggled again. “Fine, but no funny business!”
Sam watched your head disappear as you made your way to let him in. He could count all the times he wanted to take you in his arms. How many times he wanted to kiss you, make love to you. He was tired of it always being pushed to the back burner. He was tired of pushing you to the back burner.
At first he thought of you only as a new addition to the team. Expendable, maybe, if things came down to it. Not because he didn’t like you, or that he wanted you to die. But because that was the life of a hunter. Kill or be killed. For the hunters that focused mainly on research and not field work , like you-it was often the latter of the choices. So he wasn't going to have any expectations.
At the time, he was still so torn apart by Jess’s death, he didn’t even fathom eventually falling for anyone again. But, there you were: all smiles, laughs, and attitude. You were a obviously a sharp thinker, and in Sam’s opinion, sexier than sin. You spent your days comforting him or trying to get a laugh, and Sam eventually fell right over into your hand.
All these years. All these hunts. The countless times death had pounded on his door. All this time he spent trying not to push you away. Sam was finally swallowing his insecurities and reaching out.
As he waited patiently on the front porch of your home, he chuckled nervously. He didn't want to screw things up again. Not now, not ever. But after all this time, was this even the right choice?

"Everybody relax. Just waiting for you in the only room you can't blow up or spy on. So, we're not changing timelines for you, but now you have everything you want, so you can forget we exist, and we'll return the favor."
"You couldn't say that over text?"
"Well since we won't be seeing each other again - my guys, we get it, it's a code red, enough. My grandson has worked hard for you, and I feel like he's earned a selfie."
"Honestly, I could take it or leave it at this point."
"Youre taking it."
"No! What kind of fratty ass move is that? Get out of my office!"
"Seriously? Your that stubborn?"
"He's the stubborn one, I'm protecting my country."
"Uh, from a selfie?"
"From subordination to hostile powers."
"Uh, does China know about that deal breaker?"
"China doesn't piss on the White House."
"Well why would they? I'm sure it was expensive."
"Get out."
"Not without a selfie."
"Arrest them!"
"Son, you have the right to refuse his order, I garuntee you're going to die if you touch me... And there's no afterlife. Every thing just goes black. Don't do it!"
"WOW! Rick, okay!"
"What was that?"
"Death."
"What kind?"
"Instant."
"There was no sound, he Just died."
"Yeah, terrifying. Terrifying thing to watch happen. It's called a deturrent."
"You couldn't just knock him out?"
"How is knocking out a deturrent? Everyone wants to be knocked out. Nobody wants to be dead."
"You committed murder in the Oval Office. Now you can't leave."
"That's fine. I said I'm not leaving without a selfie."
"Uh I don't need a selfie."
"And I'm saying your not getting one and you aren't leaving."
"So we agree."
"Yes... No we disagree because you think you're getting a selfie and leaving."
"Am I getting a selfie?" "Never."
"Then I'm never leaving." "Exactly. See? Does anyone have a shot?"
"Yes, nine people. I can show you. But I wouldn't recommend..."
"Open fire!"
"God, you are dumb!"
"Get the President out of here!"
"Bad idea." "Wait, why?"
"Because if there isn't someone in here that they're not supposed to kill, they're going to wreck this place trying to kill me. As long as you live, no matter where you are if is isn't a selfie with him, I'll be here.."
"Jesus he's not a fucking God!"
"You don't know what I am! And you don't know what I can do!" "Jesus! It's cool, Rick!"
"Im Dr. Who in this bitch, I could be a clone. I could be a hologram. We could be clones controlled by robots controled with special headsets that the real Rick and Morty are wearing while they're fucking your mom!"
"Im going to kill you!"
"Then come to 312 Olive Street!"
"That's her address?"
"You don't know because your a bad son!"
