August in Review
I realise I've been avoiding doing an August in Review but here we go.
Nothing too artsy happened in early August. I did draw this trying-to-be Pirates of the Caribbean-esque timeskip Nami (which I've now decided to colour in pencil).

We stayed in Melbourne until about a week after my brother in law's funeral. My little sister and I had a trip planned that month that we were going to cancel. We invited my sister to come with us - we told her, if we're just gonna be sad here, we might as well be sad in South Island (NZ). She considered it (in the end she didn't go with us).
We went home. My cat whom I hadn't seen in a month slept in my room and cuddled with me. We only stayed at our house for about 4 days before we had to fly again.
We went to visit some friends and just did a whole lot of drawing. We wandered around the main city first (it was Christchurch and we were wandering around were i7 had The Policy MV 😆).
And then we found a Warehouse Stationery and bought some canvasses & paintbrushes for my sister and a sketch book and 2 brown graphic markers on sale for me. Oh and I brought my portable watercolor with me. I tried doing watercolor again but I don't have a gentle or steady hand so I think I'm more suited to other styles of drawing 😭.

Went to Mt Sunday aka Edoras 🎉
The whole place is surrounded by mountains. It was so beautiful. I started writing a poem.
We went to the Asburton Art Gallery. It was quite small but the pieces there were really great (and whoever did the art descriptions was so funny). And then later we went to the Christchurch Art Gallery. It was so good. The art felt personal to the artists and to the city itself since the artists were from the area.
Anyway, this was a pretty long one since so many things happened. We went back to Auckland and did absolutely nothing for the rest of the month.
