Orchid report, paphiopedilums. A vinicolor maudiae, a lovely big complex called Puna’s Greatness, and a chamberlainianum, also known as victoria-regina. I’m just a beginner and I have one paph that’s dying but over all I think I’m getting better at it.

Tradescantia spathacea var. 'Sitara' (Moses-in-the-cradle, boat lily, oyster plant, three-men-in-a-boat)

The many common names of Tradescantia spathacea, such as Moses-in-the-cradle, refer to the boat-like spathe that the small three petal flowers emerge from. This common houseplant was originally from tropical areas of Guatemala, Belize and southern Mexico. When it comes to houseplants, I have a 'brown thumb' and I've killed dozens of them in my time, usually from over-watering. However, this lovely variety, 'Sitara', has survived a recent repotting and is flowering like never before.
