Made and typeset this version of House of Cards by @supramingi as a gift for a friend! The cover is black velvet with "Haedokje" in gold. The end pages are handmade Korean paper with gold hanja, and the same Korean hanok motif in black on the cover is also inside as a chapter image in full color. My favorite part though is that before each chapter, there is a double sided images of a seotda hand. Each chapter the cards are a more powerful combination until the last chapter, where the cards are the unbeatable 38 gwang ddaeng 🎴

This was a labor of love to hand sew and typeset over 900 pages, but one of the best fics I've ever read deserves to have a beautiful physical presence, and my friend deserves the only best present I could come up with!!

Bad Hand

Consider the sore spot in your life,

the ever-unexpected predicament,

the perennially annoying neighbor

the perfect plan that went awry,

the random disaster,                

the looming threat,

the nagging doubt,

and consider it

a blessing

to remind you

of what is important.

It is when everything

is going right that we become

employees to arrogance,

victims to hubris,

oblivious to the truth

that upon any breath

our house of cards may

collapse.

It is only when a card topples that

we appreciate the tenuous

standing of those

remaining.
