Panel 1: Odile looking up at Bonnie climbing the Favor Tree.

Panel 2: Siffrin coming up from behind Odile.

Siffrin: Keeping an eye on Bonnie while they visit the Favor Tree?

Panel 3:

Odile: I think they've done what they've needed and are just playing now.

Panel 4:

Siffrin: Do you know what the deal is with the tree? Isa and Mira tried to explain it and I still don't get it.

Panel 5:

Odile: From my understanding, it's typically the largest tree in an area. Vaugardians go to it to pray or... wish. It seems semi-secular compared to communing with a Change God statue.

Siffrin: Oooooh

Panel 6: Siffrin leans down to pick up a leaf.

Siffrin: Then let's do as the Vaugardians do!

Panel 7-11: Siffrin takes the leaf, puts it to their mouth, whispers into it, folds it, and then lets it blow into the wind. Odile watches

Odile: What was...

Siffrin: How I was taught to wish.

Panel 13: Siffrin walks over to the tree, reaching up to catch a falling Bonnie.

Odile: What did you wish for?

Siffrin: I won't get my wish if I tell you!

Panel 14: Bonnie squirms in Siffrin's arms.

Siffrin: Buuuut if you see me with a croissant.

Bonnie: FRIN! I didn't need you to catch me!

Panel 15: Siffrin winks.

Siffrin: Then you'll know, Madam!

Panel 16-17: Siffrin carries Bonnie on his shoulder out of the meadow.

Siffrin: We'll get out of your hair now! Take your time! Enjoy the tree! And remember not to tell us what you wished for or else it won't come true!

Okay okay I’m back. Anyways. Time for introductions.

Housemaiden Bonnie

After the King froze Dormont’s house of change, Bonnie finds themselves as the lone survivor. With the blessing to not be frozen in time, they are determined to face the King, and save their sister Pétronille.

More details under the cut.

Bonnie is a ten year old kid, too young to be a housemaiden. For most of their life they lived with their older sister Pétronille, who had taken on odd jobs to support the two of them. Every now and again Petronille would go and help the Bambouche House of Change.

Eventually, Pétronille joined the House, who happily took the two siblings letting them both live in the House. Both siblings thrived in the new environment, Pétronille steadily worked with the House and learned more about herself, and Bonnie got to spend more time with their sister while also learning things from the Housemaiden’s.

At the age of nine, Pétronille and Bonnie traveled to Dormont, whose House needed some extra help and Pétronille seeing the opportunity to travel, and for Bonnie to see new places outside of Bambouche, took the offer.

Dormont was small, far smaller than Bambouche, but the House of Change was big. While the initial move was an adjustment for both, they knew it was a good change, and that this would be for just a small period of time. Both Bonnie and Pétronille became close to the Head Housemaiden Euphrasie, with them viewing her as more of an aunt-figure.

A year passed, and it would be soon that Pétronille and Bonnie would leave to go back to Bambouche, and that’s when the King attacked the Dormont House. While Euphrasie was trying to stave off the King, the House that had been a warm and loving home to Bonnie got frozen around them, and they could only watch, waiting to get frozen with the other people. Pétronille, wanting to protect her sibling, pushed them forward ahead of the King’s curse yelling for Bonnie to run. Euphrasie seeing a chance to save at least one person, and knowing she couldn’t stand against the King on her own, crafted her blessing in one desperate attempt in giving Bonnie a chance to survive.

Bonnie kept running, not stopping for a long time, holding the last thing they had from their sister, the circle necklace she wore with her uniform.

They lost track of days, and eventually they couldn’t continue on, passing out sure that they have failed.

When waking up, Bonnie found themselves in one of Jounvente’s House of Change. Where they find Mirabelle, a defender that said a mysterious stranger had dropped them off, and she brought Bonnie here. After resting, Bonnie had told their story. They tell the Housemaiden’s and the Defenders about the King’s curse, the blessing, the fact that they barely survived because of it, and the Jouse’s old defense triggering locking them out. In the end they plead for help to face against the King.

Of course, the defenders of Jouvante aren’t keen on helping, thinking that they need to prepare themselves for what to come, and the House has no idea how to even begin to help. The Head Housemaiden’s who gathered around to hear out Bonnie debating on what to do.

Some said they couldn’t do anything but pray, some debated on whether or not the orbs that locked the house tight could be found. All did agree though that Bonnie was too young for the task, and had to stay.

Bonnie, enraged at this, stormed out. Ignoring everyone. They found themselves under the Favor Tree, praying for someone to help. Mirabelle found them, with two packs of supplies and a map all supplied by the House’s, stating how she couldn’t let Bonnie just wonder around on their own.

Reluctantly, maybe because they were still angry, Bonnie agreed. Marking the start of the “saviors” journey. Believing that they at least had a chance to save Pétronille.

ANYWAYS

Bonnie is the one with the blessing. And they are angry, and confused. Wondering why it couldn’t have happened to Pétronille, or that she could at least be by their side. Despite the anger, and having the savior title thrusted upon them due to a blessing that shouldn’t have been theirs, Bonnie is still a kid, excitable and reckless, even if that recklessness comes from trying to prove themselves.

Next up is Mirabelle!!

Gonna drop more of my Traveler!Odile based on @anxiousapplepie 's (sorry for all the @ s but i like talking to u about your aus) Roleswap, this time it's Odile's Act 5 babyyyyy. Going to drop a transcription below too:

Odile: Bonifaaace~ Do you want to learn Craft?

Bonnie: Really?

Odile: Yes, of course, Boniface. Come down. Hold your hands like this. You're going to make light.

Bonnie: Dile, your hands are shaking...

Odile: Just close your eyes, Boniface.

Bonnie: Okay.

Odile: Reach into yourself, your gut, with your mind. Think about sources of light. Candles, the sun, the moon.

Bonnie: Dile, you're hurting my hands...

Odile: You're not doing it. You need to need it. Boniface, try harder, keep breathing, you want to help us, right? You can't let us down, Boniface. Are you imagining light? Your mind can't wander. Your home, your sister, what about them. Boniface-

Bonnie: DILE WHY ARE YOU BEING SO MEAN?

Bonnie runs off, and Siffrin catches them, and they talk out of earshot of Odile. Bonnie leaves and Siffrin stays.

Siffrin: Everyone's quite upset at you, Madame.

Odile: They'll get over it eventually.

Siffrin: That's what we all tell ourselves. It's okay to be having a bad day. We all are with the King, but-

Odile: HAH! A bad day! A bad day, a bad week, a bad year, what does it matter? It's all the same! Y'know, it so easy to be all smiley like you when everything's going well in your life. A partner, a purpose, friends, a home, a PAST! So easy to judge others when you've never suffered a day in your life.

Siffrin: You don't know me.

Odile: Oooh but I do. You're Sir Mx. Siffrin form the North Island, blade of the king, gone from home for years because if you go back you'll be EXECUT-

Siffrin pulls a blade on Odile.

Siffrin, smiling fakely: You seem to be having a bad day, Madame Odile. I suggest you stay here a while, do those "meditations" you lie about! Don't come back to the tower until you're quite ready, alright? We don't want any accidents...

Siffrin leaves, sheathing their blade. Odile, left next to the Favor Tree, begins to cry.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS Have some badly made sketches since I still have work to do and studies to study (help)

So, for who is who (in case you already don't know :p), Odile is Alucard and Bonbon is Dracula (from the netflix show, I haven't played any castlevannia yet), Loop is the sunflower, Siffrin the Peashooter and Isa is the conehat zombie (from Plants vs Zombies), Mira is Sydney Prescott (scream) and The Housemaiden is Laurie Strode (halloween).

For reasonings... Odile and Bonnie are the youngest/oldest so they get vampires for the funzies. Loop, Isa and Siffrin get the silliest costumes on PvZ (I honestly think sif would be a potato wall but peashooter is easier to recognize) because I think they're more up to be sillies and take it too serious. Mira and Housemaiden get these specific final girls because (up to what I know) these are the ones that made final girls popular, they changed things :p

I see a lot of AU's for In Stars and Time revolving around the idea of "what if X character was looping instead of Siffrin" and they are all wonderful. I adore the sight of seeing how exactly they slowly but surely break down over the course of months, maybe even years of repeating the same day and seeing how they contextualize the game's events from their perspective.

But there's one piece of all of these AU's that I wish was included a bit more: their feelings at the very, very start in regards to communication with others.

When Siffrin is told that he can tell his party about the time loop at any time, he immediately dismisses the idea because that is who he is as a person. Extremely caring for others, barely caring for himself. This is arguably the catalyst for the entire story (yes, even compared to WHY the loops started at all).

But how exactly do the other characters deal with that information around the start? How do they initially start the timeloop when told "there's nothing stopping you from asking for help?"

For example: Mirabelle. She already has a LOT on her plate since she's struggling with being "The Chosen." But I feel that being put in the time loop like this would actually be a relief for her. She is quite literally chosen by some sort of deity to try as many times as she wants. She's thankful because she really was chosen by the Change God (hahaha). So maybe at the start she would be more confident, talk with everyone and explain the full situation at the clock tower. "Yes, we did die against the King, but everything is back to how it was. If we work harder, we can make it!" But she would do that, every single time. The same conversation. And she's too wrapped up in that routine that she just focuses on reassuring everyone that things will be okay and saying the exact same words. Mirabelle's catalyst is similar to Siffrin's in that they both care for their friends, but while Siffrin helps fix everyone's problems, Mirabelle helps comfort everyone emotionally and doesn't focus on herself.

Then there's Odile. I feel she would treat the matter objectively, almost like a standard time loop protagonist. The first thing she does is tell everyone about it, finding some way to prove it ("Bonnie got X ingredients, Isabeau never made a wish at the favor tree, etc."). But after a certain point, going through all of those extra steps becomes draining. So she instead focuses on saying the right words which will get everyone else to do certain actions. "If I ask what fruits Boniface is bringing tomorrow then they'll keep that in the front of their mind, which will cause them to eat the pineapple early, eliminating the risk that Siffrin will die of their allergy." But throughout it all, she never factors her own feelings as to why the time loops are happening. That is Odile's catalyst: she is too logical and doesn't acknowledge feelings as part of the equation.

Perhaps later on in the timeloop they would do different things entirely, stop talking to others all together. But this is specifically about everyone's catalyst at the very start, their own version of "Why would you need help? You're in the position to help everyone here." It would likely take longer to happen than Siffrin's, the emotionally repressed gremlin, but the end result would still be the same. It's about self-isolation after all.

I just think it's a fun thing to think about.
