I've just come up with a Frasier AU Reylo story and my fingers itch to write it... If only I had all the time in the world.

Imagine Ben renouncing his family and running off from Seattle to Boston to work for the high-profile law firm owned by Snoke. Years later, he is on the edge of nervous breakdown and quits for the sake of his sanity. Snoke lets him go but bleeds him dry - Ben loses everything from his expensive apartment and luxurious car to money and reputation. Humiliated, he returns back home.

His parents, Han and Leia, are not willing to accept him back so easily after he broke their hearts but they make him an offer - to live together with Leia's twin brother Luke.

Luke is a former cop who had to retire due to the injury that forces him to walk with the help of the cane, turning him into a bad-tempered loner. Han and Leia try to stimulate him but to no avail so they hope that living with someone would help him both in social life and also to have someone who would keep an eye on him.

However, Ben and Luke basically hate each other because according to Luke, he used to protect the innocent while Ben helped the criminals to avoid justice.

But Ben begrudgingly agrees because he has no other choice. He has no money, nowhere to live, Snoke closed all the doors for him and he can't find a proper job.

And that is how their cohabiation starts.

Ben eventually finds a job in a pro bono legal service which he hates at first due to his snobbish nature but, as the time passes, he learns to humbly enjoy it. Thanks to that, he and Luke find a way to each other and become true family as the uncle and the nephew.

In the meantime, Ben requests from Leia to hire a live-in housekeeper and physical therapist for Luke. The woman is an English woman called Rey.

Just like Luke, she becomes the reality check for Ben who hates her guts at first because "she conspires against him with Luke" but her naturalness, beauty and gall bewitch him in the end and he falls in love with her.

Oh, and Luke has a dog by the name of Artoo.

Palihotel, 107 Pine St, Seattle (Downtown), WA 98101

It’s hard to beat the location of Palihotel, a 2 minute walk to Pike Place Market, super close to the light rail Westlake station, and a short walk to the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Aquarium, and downtown. You can also easily walk to Belltown, Capitol Hill, and the International District (with a 1 mile radius of the hotel).

The hotel, which was probably a rundown old hotel before Pali took it over, is smaller but has a charming style (with dark green, plants, woods, and plaids), excellent Diptyque toiletries (soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel), and a well-regarded restaurant (The Hart and The Hunter).

My room was small (perfect size for one person) and had a view of another building and alley. I was surprised by how noisy it was. I heard sirens three times after midnight and could also hear traffic. The bed was comfy with lots of fluffy pillows and a pillow-top mattress. Towels were thick but not soft. The room seemed clean. I tried to change the temperature setting in my room and it seemed like it was centrally controlled.

My room had dark green walls, a small bathroom with a shower (no tub) and huge rain shower head, writing desk, TV, drawers, fridge, one chair, glasses and cups, and a phone.

Amenities include free wi-fi, in-room safe, concierge, housekeeping, room service, staffed front desk, SMEG mini fridge stocked with interesting drinks, snack basket, SMEG electric kettle, thick terry robe, cotton balls, ear plugs, writing pad, postcards, flatscreen TV with HBO, tea, coffee, etc. Snacks and drinks are added onto your bill if you consume them. The bottled water in the room is not complimentary.

They don’t have on-site parking or a fitness center. Rooms are smoke-free. I noticed electric bikes outside (must be available for rent) the hotel entrance.

The lobby had a large lounge area that looked like a library/living room with couches, tables, rugs, art, and lots of books. Loved the plaid carpeting in the hallways. There is one small elevator. The area has quite a few homeless people, so it’s not that nice but it is very central and close to lots of things. There’s a Target that’s very close and H Mart is across the street.

When Elizabeth pushed open the door to her brownstone she could hear the low rumble of laundry being done in the basement. She huffed out a breath at the sound of a light clattering from the kitchen, it had been a long as fuck day in court and she was hoping the housekeeper would be gone already, even though she was home by dinner for once. Stepping out of her shoes she hung up her coat, leaving her bag by the door to go through a couple emails on her phone while she crossed through the house. Her ears perked up at the unmistakable sound of a wine cork popping from the kitchen, the curiosity pulling her in that direction instead.

Your head turned at the sound of Elizabeth in the doorway, a smile breaking out on your face as you placed the wine bottle back down on the counter.

“You’re home early.” You greeted and she smiled, more than happy to see you in her space, “hope it’s okay I hijacked your washer. I couldn’t be bothered to want to deal with a fucking laundry mat right now.”

You crossed the room quickly, moving into her arms for a tight hug and a gentle kiss. You’d been away at a two week medical conference in Seattle, when you weren’t drowning in research papers, you were bored out of your mind trapped in a hotel room. While your relationship with Liz was solidified, you still usually only saw each other on the weekends, and still lived apart. She’d given you a key to her place a few months in, knowing that sometimes you had weird hours and wanted to make sure you felt as comfortable in her space as you could. She also always offered you up any services an actual house had that your apartment probably didn’t, which is why you’d ended up over here after your plane landed and not at home.

“I don’t mind at all sweetheart.” Liz smiled softly at you, pulling you back in for another hug, holding you against her, breathing out a sigh of relief of having you back in her arms again, “I’ve missed you quite terribly.”

“It was only two weeks.” You giggled softly, pulling back to catch her eyes, “you have a rough case or something?” She kissed your temple, shrugging as you moved back to the counter.

“Every case can be tough. It’s both easier and harder being on the bench, while I don’t have to feel directly responsible if a conviction doesn’t go through, I still have the power to change it.”

“Yet you can’t do that often or you’ll be booted?”

“Exactly.” She accepted the glass of wine you passed her, murmuring a quiet thank you before she took a sip.

“I ordered from Sathi, did you want yours now? I was gonna just leave it in the fridge.”

“How could I turn down eating dinner with my favourite girl?” She grinned and you felt your cheeks heat, ducking your head with a small smile as you started to pull down plates.

“You’re too sweet.” You pecked her cheek gently as the two of you moved back to the dining room, settling in at the table.

“How was the conference?”

“Mountains of boring research and avoiding everyone trying to sell their products.”

“Sounds even less enjoyable than a DA gala.”

“It is.” You snorted out a laugh, “no open bar or free dinner.”

“Did you get to see any of the city?” She asked and you shrugged,

“It rained literally the entire time, I stayed curled up under the covers in bed.”

“Sounds like much more enjoyable.” Liz replied and you grinned.

“Not nearly enjoyable enough on my own.” You smirked, the gleam in your eye pulling a laugh from them blonde as she shook her head at your antics.

“Well I guess it’s a good thing you’re back then.”

Leaning in, she pressed a kiss into your cheek that you hummed in satisfaction at before turning back to your dinner. The conversation flowed easily, while you’d kept in touch over the weeks you were gone, it had only really been the bare minimum, both of you busy with your own work, and the time zones being as far apart as they could within the U.S.

You were forever and eternally grateful that your path had crossed with Liz’s, though you’d never expected a relationship to bloom out of it. You’d met at a networking event, high ups in multiple fields throughout New York socializing and schmoozing, making connections across more than just their career fields. While getting a drink refill you’d made a small joke in passing to the woman about how ridiculous it seemed, at this stage shouldn’t you have made enough connections to survive off of? You were surprised when she laughed as heartily as she did, pausing to introduce herself. You spent the next hour or so getting to know each other, gossiping about who you knew in the room, bonding over your mutual distaste for events like this. About halfway through the evening a stunner of a redhead came up to Liz, briefly and quickly discussing something, and curiosity got the best of you, cocking a brow at Liz as the younger woman scampered off. She explained then that she was now a Manhattan Judge, that the girl had been one of the lawyers working under her while she was Bureau Chief and Liz still kept a pretty protective eye over her ‘kids’ as she called them. You couldn’t help but find it adorable that she still watched over them, and it made her seem even more human.

At the end of the night, you’d flirted most of the evening, and exchanged contact information. You were pretty smitten, and made the call about a week later asking her to lunch. It didn’t take long for you to fall into each other’s lives on a regular basis, Liz still valued her privacy and alone time most nights she preferred to wind down on her own with a glass of scotch. She was nearly baffled when you were more than accepting of this, either you were one hell of a good actor, or you actually had no issue with it. (you were a terrible actor, you just understood. After being surrounded by people all day, silence really was the best medicine).

The first time she’d found you in the brownstone after giving you a key she could hear the laundry going, knowing that you were there, but you were nowhere to be seen. She had started to think that you’d put the clothing in and left before she made her way upstairs, passing the guest room on the way to her own to find you perched on the bed, tablet quietly playing Netflix while you worked through a research paper. She’d asked why on earth you were in there and you simply shrugged, saying you knew she valued her space and it was the middle of the week, you didn’t want to intrude anymore into hers than you already were.

It wasn’t very long at all after that that she told you she loved you the first time.

With dinner finished, you collected the plates from the table, moving back to the kitchen as the dryer buzzed from the basement. Liz kissed the top of your head softly, mentioning that she’d take care of the dishes while you did what you needed. It was only a few moments after she’d finished drying her hands on a dish towel that you emerged, dropping the bag down near the back door.

“Thanks for the utilities.” You teased, kissing her gently, “I’ll get out of your hair now.” You pecked her cheek, turning toward the door before her hand gently closed around your wrist, pulling you back.

“You really don’t need to.” She assured you and you waffled slightly.

“Are you sure? It’s Wednesday…”

“I like it when you sleep here.” She smiled, ducking down to kiss your nose, “I know I may come off as brash a lot, but I really do adore having you around, no matter what the time or day. It helps that you get it, you don’t constantly chatter on about shit.”

“I do really enjoy a comfortable silence.” You laughed quietly and Liz smiled, kissing you softly.

“So you’ll stay?”

“Of course.”

You let her arm wrap around your waist as you accompanied her to the living room. You were a few seasons into a Gilmore Girls binge when you’d left for Seattle, and the both of you were eager to continue. Liz pulled a blanket over your laps, encouraging you to lean into her embrace, placing a soft kiss to your head as you polished off the bottle of wine. During a break between episodes you moved to take the empty wine bottle and glasses to the kitchen, rinsing out the glassware, placing it into the drying rack.

Liz always had the coffee set to brew a pot of decaf at this time of night, so you waited the last couple of seconds while it finished, dressing the mugs as you both preferred them before moving back into the living room. You placed them down on the coffee table as you cocked your brow at the other woman.

“What?” You asked softly.

“Nothing.” She shook it off with a small smile and you laughed as you dropped down onto the couch beside her, your hand tilting her head back to you.

“You can’t fool me Donnelly…what?”

“You’re something else, you know that?” She smiled at you, leaning in to kiss you tenderly and you flushed, an adorable giggle escaping your lips.

“Thanks.”

“I mean it…I fell in love with you so suddenly…I barely realized it was happening. But now…I can’t even begin to imagine my life without you.”

“Liz…” you half whined, “stop…”

“I love you sweetheart.” She kissed you again, “and don’t worry, that’s all the sap you’re getting out of me tonight.”

You barked a laugh, your head thrown back at her words before you wrapped your arms around her shoulders, pulling you to her for another kiss.

“And that’s all I need. Because I love you Elizabeth, and I always will.”

“I love you too.” She kissed your lips, the smile evident on her own, pulling another small giggle from you, “I’d like it if you’d stay more than just tonight.”

“I’ll be back over the weekend.” You offered and she smirked yet again.

“How about you just don’t go back to that apartment?”

“You askin’ me to move in? Want me to be around all the time? Annoy the shit out of you?” You teased, kissing her face between each question and she laughed, swatting at your arm.

“Even if you tried, you couldn’t possibly annoy me as much as that team of prosecutors.”

“Are you sure?” You stalled and Liz saw the hesitancy in your eyes, her face softening as her hand cupped your cheek.

“Absolutely.” She kissed your forehead. “I love you, and I want you to be around…I worry when you’re not. I may not say it enough sweetheart but you’re my world.”

“Liz…” you practically melted, your heart bursting in your chest, you knew that you loved each other, but Liz rarely vocalized her affection, so something like this meant more than a lot. “I love you too..” was about all you could manage, a soft laugh escaping your lips as you kissed her again.

“Oh don’t get sappy on me now.” She prodded and you laughed again, burying yourself into her shoulder.

“I’m not.” You sighed softly, relaxing against her frame, “just never thought I’d hear you say something like that.” You hummed at the way she kissed the top of your head, her arm tightening around you as the show began again. It was only at the next commercial break, you’d picked up her hand in yours, playing with it absentmindedly before you spoke again. “You’re my world too..” you barely mumbled, still distracted with her hand, not really meeting her eye.

Liz hummed softly, not speaking yet as she let you continue to work through your thought before you spoke it.

“It still surprises me every day. Part of me thought I would never fall in love, that I would never find someone who was willing to put up with me long enough to have a relationship. But for some reason you decided I was a good enough for you, and I’ll never forget that. I never knew what love actually felt like until I met you.”

“I thought you weren’t going to get sappy?” She teased with a gleam in her eyes and you let out a small laugh, “sweetheart…” she kissed you gently, “as long as you’re with me…you’ll always know what love feels like. Because there isn’t a moment that goes by that I feel anything but love for you.”

“Sounds like you’re getting sappy now my love.” You teased, tilting your head up to hers, a grin on your cheeks that she scoffed at.

“Well don’t go telling anyone.”

“I wont.” You pecked her cheek, “as long as you come upstairs and give me all the cuddles I want?”

“You make a hard bargain you know that?”

“Do ?” You grinned as you stood from the couch, “cause last time I heard, you liked having me here.”

On May 22, UNITE HERE’s Culinary and Bartenders Unions, which represent over 57,000 hospitality workers in Las Vegas and Reno, held a strike authorization vote. Of the 25,000 members who participated, 99 percent voted to authorize a strike if a new contract isn’t signed by June 1. If the strike takes place, 50,000 employees at 34 casino resorts in Las Vegas—including most of the wait staff, bartenders, kitchen workers, and hotel employees who work on the strip—will walk off the job. It would be the first citywide strike since 1984, when thousands of Culinary Union members went on strike for 67 days. A citywide strike vote hasn’t taken place since 2002, even though the unions renegotiate contracts every four years.

Such a strike could have an enormous impact. UNITE HERE Gaming Research, the unions’ research arm, projected that a one-month strike could cost MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment, the two largest employers on the strip, more than $300 million.

Sara Enciso, who has worked setting up banquet halls at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for about two and half years, voted in favor of the strike. “I don’t expect to go on strike, I don’t want to go on strike. But that is what it takes for them to understand that we need better conditions,” she said. “We’re an important part of their company… We are the ones that put [in] the labor and we are the ones that give them all the money they are making.”

While a strike could hurt her family’s finances, failing to get the workers’ demands met will, too. “We don’t want to be worried about where my check is [coming] from,” she said. “We want to make sure we have a job to go to, work to do every day.”

One issue workers have raised beyond increased pay and benefits is to ensure better job security in the face of new technologies and changes in the industry.
