hot d s2 is like star wars the last jedi in that there are plenty of valid complaints to make but that valid crit is way overshadowed by nutbar fans making offensive or just downright dumb complaints. difference is the sw original canon trilogy (and even the force awakens) is better media than fire and blood ever was, which makes that whole line of complaint even more annoying imo. i can't like one legit post about the absence of nettles without seeing 10 other complaints i want nothing to do with.

"James, where are we going?"

Regulus peers into the dark, the car rattling quietly on the country road they'd pulled onto a while back.

James' hand finds his, brings it to his lips to press a soft kiss against the back of it. Keeps holding it as he speaks. "You'll see."

"James, you know I don't—"

"Like surprises. Yes. This isn't a surprise. Not really. This is something you've seen before. Trust me, there's a method to the madness."

There always is, Regulus thinks and tries to push back against the anxiety in his chest. James keeps holding his hand as they drive, something he'd usually complain about but decides not to comment on tonight.

Eventually they turn into a long driveway to the left, somewhere in the middle of the countryside. James parks right in front of a small farmhouse.

"We're here," he says and squeezes Regulus' hand. "Let's have a look."

He lets Regulus go and gets out of the car. Takes two packed bags out of the boot.

Regulus follows him, eyebrows going up when he spots their luggage. James just smiles and leads him up to the house. He unlocks the door and turns the lights on.

What had looked like nothing much from the outside turns out to be a small but cozy place, recently renovated and modernized by the looks of it.

Regulus lets his gaze wander, trying to take it all in. "You got me a weekend getaway?"

"No," James says as he closes the door behind them and puts their bags down. He grins at Regulus' confused expression. "I mean, that is part of it, yes. But no. Come on."

He reaches for Regulus' hand again. Leads him through the house and out the back into the garden. They follow the gravel path to a little gate, grassy hilltops beyond.

"James…"

Another soft smile. "Just wait."

Regulus sighs but lets James take him into the night. They make their way up the hill behind the house, feet cushioned by the lush grass. Once they reach the top James stops, turns so they face each other.

Regulus looks at James. It's too dark to see anything else but what's right in front of him. Anxiety flares again. He shifts, nervous and James takes pity on him.

"Look up, love."

Regulus does and oh.

Oh.

His mouth drops open as he watches the dark blue above them twinkle. Millions and millions and millions.

"You got me the stars," Regulus whispers.

James pulls him in to kiss his forehead. "You once said that nothing makes you feel as peaceful as looking at the night sky, but you can't really see it in London so…"

"You got me the stars."

Regulus winds his arms around James, holding on tight, breathing deeply. His heart is calm. Right here, in this moment, under the stars with James, there is nothing but peace.

Stags in bestiaries are associated with Christ, since when running they are said to run to “Christ, the true spring”. They also trample upon their enemy, the snake, who represents the Devil.

with TOH’s subversion of how witches and hierophants are traditionally regarded, i just think it’s neat :)

Visenya’s Hill was crowned by the Great Sept of Baelor with its seven crystal towers.

The Street of the Sisters ran between them, straight as an arrow. The city walls rose in the distance, high and strong.

And above it all, frowning down from Aegon’s high hill, was the Red Keep, seven huge drum-towers crowned with iron ramparts, an immense grim barbican, vaulted halls and covered bridges, barracks and dungeons and granaries, massive curtain walls studded with archer’s nests, all fashioned of pale red stone.

Aegon the Conqueror had commanded it built. His son Maegor the Cruel had seen it completed. Afterward he had taken the heads of every stonemason, woodworker, and builder who had labored on it.

Only the blood of the dragon would ever know the secrets of the fortress the Dragonlords had built, he vowed.
