Please listen to both songs before you vote!
Notes: "House of the Rising Sun" is a folk song, with no certain answer as to who originally wrote it. However, it's pretty clear that Weird Al was evoking the sound and rhythm of The Animals' successful commercial version, which is why have been chosen to compete with him.
"House of the Sesame Seed Bun" is short because it was pretty much exclusive to larger parody medleys

After bending the rules with a celebratory serving in honor of his special day, White House officials confirmed Wednesday that President Joe Biden had been given human food as a birthday treat. “I know he’s not technically supposed to eat this kind of stuff, but we figure once in a while on a special occasion a ground beef patty on a sesame seed bun can’t be too bad for him,” said White House executive chef Eric Aikens, slyly explaining how his team decided to bypass the preplanned feeding schedule advised by the medical staff who oversee the president’s strict diet. The McPreggo Menu (6/28/23 update)
While I by no means came up with the McPreggo concept, I am a very big fan of it, so I wrote up a hypothetical menu for funsies! This menu got a surprising amount of attention and I received a bunch of suggestions for future items. So here, I’ve implemented them and given the menu a nice content update! I tried to fit as many ideas as I could, but if I missed yours, send another anon and I’ll work it in next time! Full menu under the cut!
Every item can be ordered individually or in a combo! Combos come with your choice of a side, and a drink! Different sides have different effects, try them all!
#1 The McPreggo Burger
The original filler-upper! Carry a singleton in minutes with this mouth watering single quarter pound patty cheeseburger, with tomatoes, lettuce, diced onion, pickles, and your choice of sauces!
#2 The Twinner
Twice as filling, twice as heavy, go full term with twins with TWO quarter pound patties, with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, diced onion, pickles, and your choice of sauces!
#3 The Triple Stack
Sensing a pattern? Go big with triplets, with three whole quarter pound patties (That’s 12 oz of meat!) with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, diced onion, pickles, and your choice of sauces! (Warning, Doctor’s note required for purchase)
#4 The Breaded Babymaker
A mouth watering crispy chicken sandwich topped with lettuce and mayo, on a sesame seed bun! 50/50 odds for a singleton or twins!
#5 The Labor-Inducer
Well… not QUITE real labor, but this breaded chicken sandwich packs a spicy kick with pepper sauce, knocks you up with one, and causes regular braxton-hicks for the duration of the food-induced pregnancy! Those those who enjoy a more intense experience!
#6 The Twinner Chicken Dinner
Three breaded and fried chicken strips, worth a trimester each! Each strip takes you up one trimester with twins, with each basket linked to a set of twins, so no fear going overdue by eating more than one serving!
#7 The Fish Filet Sandwich
A tasty fish filet with light breading, with cheese and tartar sauce! Induces a singleton pregnancy with safe-but-noticeable polyhydramnios, giving extra amniotic fluid!
#8 The Quad Pod
A meal for the truly brave, comes with a double cheeseburger (The Twinner) and three chicken strips (The Twinner Chicken Dinner) to land you full of quadruplets at 40 weeks if fully consumed! (Warning, Doctor’s note required for purchase)
#9 The Family Feast Not a feast for a family, but a feast to help you MAKE one! A Triple Stack, A Breaded Babywaker, and a Twinner Chicken Dinner, to land you full of 6-7 babies, all at full term! Not for the feint of heart! (Warning, Doctor’s note and signed waiver required for purchase)
Breakfast (ALL DAY!)
Hash Brown
Crispy outside, soft potato-y inside. Warm morning goodness! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will make a belly drop as if full term and close to birth!
Ready-To-Pop Tarts
Our most versatile product, each Ready-To-Pop Tart is named after the quantum baby it induces, and results in a 1-to-1 pregnancy experience as if you were carrying that baby at full term! Each name has its effects listed on the box, such as extra size, carrying low, specific cravings, and so on! Mix and match to carry multiples and craft your perfect pregnancy! Or, try a mystery unlabelled one and see who YOU get pregnant with!
Sausage Egg Muffin
A toasted english muffin housing a breakfast sausage patty, and a folded scrambled egg! A morning classic! If eaten before other McPreggo products, will delay the onset of those products by 1 hour per breakfast sandwich. Additional sandwiches will increase the duration of the delay. Delay timer begins after full consumption of the breakfast sandwich.
Bacon Egg Griddle
Crispy strips of bacon, folded scrambled egg, between two delicious maple flavored griddles! If eaten before other McPreggo products, will cause effects of those products to onset over time instead of instantly. Each sandwich consumed causes effects to onset over the course of 30 minutes, with additional griddles slowing the onset further. Cannot slow an onset to be longer than the base pregnancy duration.
The Baby Burrito
A breakfast burrito for those who are early-risers, this morning meal has scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, melted cheese, and tater tots, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. Gives you a singleton at 20 weeks along!
SPECIAL LIMITED TIME ITEMS
These items are only available for small windows of time, and don't interact with our other products due to their unique nature. They’re a big commitment, but provide a very genuine experience. For customers looking for something that takes more dedication than a standard combo meal.
The McCrib
A special BBQ rib sandwich, only available during the first month of even numbered years. Slow cooked rib meat slathered in BBQ sauce, the McCrib answers the question of “what if humans could properly fully develop in the womb, rather than being born at just 9 months?”. Comparative to most other species, humans give birth very prematurely so that the baby can be safely delivered. McPreggo quantum babies aren’t ever birthed, allowing us to see what life would be like otherwise. Upon consuming a full McCrib, the customer starts on a 21 month pregnancy, spanning 7 trimesters, and allowing the quantum baby to grow to the size and weight of a one year old, with all the challenges and experiences that come with that. A slow burn experience, this pregnancy will include increased weight, size, and strength of the baby inside, finally reaching its apex after almost 2 years of uninterrupted pregnancy. It should be noted that McCrib pregnancies do not stack with each other, so only a singleton may be carried for 21 months. However, other McPreggo products will still function independently, meaning that additional temporary babies may be added, though baby altering effects from items such as the chicken nuggets, will have no effect on the McCrib baby.
The Beastly Burger
An extra large McPreggo burger stacked high with toppings, slathered in a unique “Monster Sauce”, and only sold annually during october. Initiates a 9 month long “anomalous pregnancy”, where the eater becomes pregnant with a mysterious, monstrous entity! Featuring many mouths, eyes, tentacles, and other fun additions that can be felt on the inner walls of the womb! Squirmy and active, it’ll make for a highly engaging and invigorating pregnancy! Will not interact with other McPreggo products, though they can be enjoyed in tandem. (Warning: unusual belly blemishes and strange cravings may occur)
Sides
Fries
Crispy, salty yukon gold fries! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will make a belly lower and longer, resulting in a torpedo belly! Watch where you point that thing! Tater Tots
Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will make a belly wider at the sides, resulting in a beach ball belly. Look pregnant from behind too! (Small: +5% belly width, Medium: +7.5% belly width, Large: +10% belly width. Roundness will vary. Percentages are approximate.)
Onion Rings
Ring segments of onion, battered and fried! What’s not to love? If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will make a belly’s skin a little tighter, resulting in more stretchmarks and visible veins! Look at those tiger stripes! (Small: +15% stretchmark visibility, Medium: +25% stretchmark visibility, Large: +35% stretchmark visibility. Percentages are approximate.)
Mozzarella Sticks
Breaded and deep fried sticks of mozzarella cheese! Warm and soft, with a great cheese pull! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will extend the effects of an active food-based pregnancy by 90 minutes per stick eaten! Comes in a 4 piece, 6 piece, or 8 piece!
Fried Pickle Chips
A staple with pregnant people, breaded slices of pickle, salted and fried to perfection. If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase the strength of pregnancy cravings when consumed! (Small: +20% craving strength, Medium: +40% craving strength, Large: +60% craving strength. Percentages are approximate.)
Chicken Nuggets
A staple, back and heavier than ever! A 6 piece nugget with your choice of dipping sauce! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase the weight of babies by 2% per nugget! Careful! That adds up faster than you’d expect!
Spicy Chicken Nuggets
Made with a breading that brings the heat, rile up your cargo with this delicious side! A 6 piece spicy nugget comes with your choice of dipping sauce! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase the activity and energy of quantum babies by 4% per nugget!
Side Salad
A classic salad that gives you a healthy boost! A small salad that goes with any of our fine salad dressings (see dips, dressings, and sauces). If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase energy and lower fatigue of the eater by a noticeable amount! Combo with your favorite dressing to specialize for your next activity!
Hand Mixed Sodas!
Our Hand Mixed Sodas are made with a carbonated base, and are customizable with shots of flavor, each with their own effects! Combine your favorites for a delightful, refreshing augmentation to your pregnancy experience!
Cherry
A summertime classic with all the Red No. 40 you know and love!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will darken the visible linea nigra line on the belly by 20% per shot of flavoring!
Mango
Tangy, tropical, and uniquely sweet!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will cause stretchmarks to spread of places other than the belly, traveling across the hips, thighs, and arms too! More shots means more coverage!
Grape
The classic artificial cough syrup variety you grew up with, now with a twist!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase blood flow to belly skin, giving it extra visible “blush”. Increases belly blush by 25% per shot.
Orange
Unique and refreshing, goes with most other tropical fruits!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will cause the belly to glow with a safe, heatless light from within! Starts with a soft glow and grows brighter with more shots, though will never go above that of a laval lamp. Use Pineapple, Peach, and Blue Raspberry shots to color the glow!
Pineapple
Includes that tingling sensation from the pineapple enzymes eating you back!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will tint any glow effects from the orange syrup a bright yellow color! 3 shots reaches full color saturation.
Peach
Ripe and juicy, tastes like it’s straight form Georgia!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will tint any glow effects from the orange syrup a vibrant red color! 3 shots reaches full color saturation.
Blue Raspberry
Why is it blue? Who cares? Still tastes great!  If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will tint any glow effects from the orange syrup a cool blue color! 3 shots reaches full color saturation.
Lemonade
Tart opener with a sweet finish, and pairs with pretty much every other option! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase belly skin sensitivity to touch by 20% per shot.
Dips, Dressings, and Sauces!
Caesar Salad Dressing
A mix of dijon mustard, lemon juice, and worcestershire sauce perfect for anyone craving a classic caesar salad! If drizzled over a McPreggo side salad and eaten, will increase nesting drive by 40% for the duration of the McPreggo pregnancy. The energy given by the salad will be put toward this nesting instinct.
Tangy Vinaigrette
An old favorite with a bite, this vinaigrette goes great on our side salad! If drizzled over a McPreggo side salad and eaten, will increase joint flexibility and ease of movement by a noticeable amount. Make your maternity yoga class a breeze with our lovely dressing!
Thousand Island Dressing
An american classic, thousand island is a great topper to our side salad. If drizzled over a McPreggo side salad and eaten, will increase sense of smell and taste substantially, making your craving foods taste even better!
Ranch Dressing
Classic thick, creamy ranch, good for nuggets and salads alike! When combined with any McPreggo food, will increase the visibility of veins on the belly by 60%!
Marinara Sauce
Take the routine out of your usual McPreggo order with out tomato-y marinara sauce! When eaten with our mozzarella sticks, will increase the duration of the pregnancy by a random amount, varying from 10-40%!
BBQ sauce
Tangy and a little sweet, our BBQ sauce can’t be beat! If pregnant with a McPreggo product and fully aware of this sauce’s effects before eating, will induce a slightly hazy, forgetful “pregnancy brain” sensation for the duration of the food pregnancy!
Fry sauce
A thick fry sauce for an even thicker patron! Enjoy this northwestern classic and round out a little! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will cause thighs and buttocks to grow visibly thicker, with increasing effects the more is eaten.
Ketchup
We don’t need to pitch ketchup to you. It’s ketchup. You know you like it. If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will shift the distribution of babies within the womb to make it visibly lopsided. Will never push babies into an unsafe or painful position for either party.
Desserts
Chocolate Chip Cookie
A classic treat with a cute twist! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will cycle through belly button types, with each cookie going to the next one in the cycle. Starts with an innie, then pops into an outie, then flattens out as though your navel was too stretched to even pop! If stretched, the next cookie reverts you back to an innie!
Ice Cream Sundae
Comes in hot fudge or carmel! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will lower the visibility of blemishes like stretchmarks or visible veins, resulting in a smoother, softer skinned tummy!
Ice Cream Sandwich
A classic straight from the ice cream truck! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will relieve back pain and contractions brought on by late-stage food-based pregnancy!
McBlendie
Cool, creamy soft serve blended with your choice of twix or reeses peanut butter cups! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will reset all other side and desert item effects. Will not hasten a McPreggo food pregnancy!
Milkshakes!
Cookies and Crème
A thick and creamy milkshake that’s loaded with blended chocolate cookie bits! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase milk production and potentially even breast size! (Small: +100% milk production, Medium: +175% milk production, Large: +250% milk production. Percentages are approximate, breast size increase will vary)
Apple Pie Delight
A whole slice of apple pie dumped right into our vanilla milkshake mix and blended until thick! It still counts as A La Mode, right? If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will increase sex drive in those who drink it and are fully aware of its effects before consuming. (Small: +75% libido, Medium: +125% libido, Large: +175% libido. Percentages are approximate and based on starting sex drive. Does not function without awareness)
Maternal Marionberry
Oregon marionberries, in a milkshake, served so thick you probably need a spoon. Need we say more? If pregnant with a McPreggo product, will widen and soften hips, and give you that pregnancy glow! (Small: +5% hip width, Medium: +7.5% hip width, Large: +10% hip width. Percentages are approximate)
Marshmallow Plush
A McPreggo specialty, a delightful blend of marshmallow cream with cool vanilla makes for a surprisingly heavy drink! If pregnant with a McPreggo product, soften the exterior of a pregnant belly, making you plush and plump! (Small: +15% belly fat, Medium: +25% belly fat, Large: +35% belly fat. Percentages are approximate)

Under the Hood
crossposting: none (gonna see if I like it)
synopsis: Murderface has a little too much fun trying to recognize his bandmates by their bodies (teen and up-style. No porn.)
for kloktober day 3: Mordhaus Costume Ball
It sure is a costume event, it sure is a ball, and it's sure in Mordhaus, but it's a little creative.
Toki’s latest seasonal exploit was convincing everybody to blend in with the hooded masses during an industry cocktail hour they dipped out of for a “planning meeting.” The third time Charles asked what the “planning meeting” was for, Murderface “farted” and had to leave the room… and Charles didn’t ask any more questions.
All five of the band members suited up in hoods and black working clothes and split up across the grounds with the stated objective of finding one another. If you’re found, you have to follow the person or group of people who found you and become part of their “team.” (Toki had found that idea from a pink spiral-bound book of “Just Girly Games” from the thrift store. On second thought, the “hot potato” chant when passing a shot glass would make a great drinking game.) Murderface, with his hair held back with an accordion headband, was hooded and on the hunt, starting with the klokateers doing valet parking.
They faced out into the receiving area, which was a black canvas tent surrounded by Bentleys, Geneses, and Lambos. William’s eyes tracked from bumper to bumper, rims to the bottom edge of hairy asscheeks in black pants, from paint jobs to picturing what it’d be like to have the workers’ knuckled, black-gloved hands grab more than just keys. The deep black night sky, smooth from the light pollution of Mordhaus’ grounds, made every hood ornament and rugged arm hair sparkle. His beltline got wet from the sweat on his back and he retreated back towards the house. If one of them was Toki, he’d take the L over getting caught staring with a boner trying to bore through his fly.
In the corridors behind the main reception area, pointed hoods ducked and bobbed in swarms trying to arrange aperitifs and balance garnishes on the poshest bloody red shooters on God’s metal earth. The height of the ceilings made the flocks of heads look even shorter; the flapping of black tablecloths over serving carts slipped above the murmuring and the laughter teeming through the double doors before the main hall. He was silent as Klokateers bumped into his shoulders with mumbled, “Comin’ through”s and “Excuse me”s to keep his anonymity. Looking for the tallest people made the search easier… about thirty feet away from him was a guy who had to be standing around in Nathan and Skwisgaar’s altitude.
But how to know if it was Skwisgaar? He was thin enough, but maybe just a little more svelte vs slight. His back was toned and carved into smooth lines… his shoulder blades stretched his shirt over their corners while he assembled a chocolate fountain. His waist was so sincere and suggestive under that black muscle shirt, begging to be pulled forward or slammed back. This guy’s ass was a little flat to be Skwisgaar’s… or maybe it was too plush? It didn’t look quite right for him, but it was probably handsome, like two paninis made out of exceptionally rectangular White Castle hamburgers, with that sour, gamey smell and the taste that won’t leave your mouth alone… if only he could get a little lick, maybe right where his back turned into those buns, maybe right to the middle looking for a little beef, a little muscle–
William didn’t hear the guy trying to tell him to look out until there was a pyramid of tiny cups of gourmet barbeque sauce coming down on and over him. Stepping back only sent him to the floor in the mess, rolling around like a little piggy until he heard a familiar chuff.
“Dude, are you fucking hard right now?”
Holding an entire tray of stuffed buns in the shape of coiled snakes (with black sesame seeds embedded as scales), Nathan, unhooded, stepped forward out of the crowd of grumbling Klokateers scrambling to save the cups that remained on the cart.
“What the fuck, man!”
“They said I couldn’t have any if I was working so I just showed them I wasn’t working. But you, Murderface, Jesus Christ… You look like that Stephen King movie with the ginger and the fucking tampons.”
William slid up from the mess and onto his hands and knees, but kept slipping in the sauce until two Klokateers took him by the arms and wouldn’t give in to his fighting. “At least I have Halloween spirit, Nathan! Halloween’s fucking brutal and scary and all that schit!”
“C’mon. Pickles gave up. Skwisgaar probably isn’t playing, and I don’t know what Toki’s doing-”
“Found yous!” One of the Klokateers that had been holding William up snatched his hood off and immediately got strands of his hair stuck to Murderface’s saucy shoulder like a spiderweb.
“Aw, fucking Toki! I could’ve fucking won this game!”
“Dildos! You didn’tst, but you found Nathans! Want to finds Pickle in the kegs room?”

🍔 Updated review ━ 📍 Bleecker Burger ★★★★★ • Bleecker Burger currently have four restaurants in central London, and they are stylishly decorated with black accents and a fairly stripped-down look. Don't expect anything fancy. There are a handful of burgers on the menu, along with a few sides and milkshakes. The reason for this is to let the meat itself take centre stage. We've loved Bleecker Burger ever since we first tried them in 2015, and they've also been guests at Stockholm Burger Fest in both 2018 and 2019. They are an essential destination every time we go to London. • During our latest visit we ate every single burger on their menu, and our favourite order is now a double bacon burger with house fries on the side. The meat is absolutely phenomenal, with a deep and heavenly dry-aged beefiness. The meat is often very lightly cooked, but this really enhances the flavours. The soft bun looks very unassuming, but it complements the beef nicely with its flavour, fluffy texture and sesame seeds, and the bacon further elevates the meat flavours with its crunchy saltiness. You don't need much more than that, which is also why the burgers rarely contain much more than meat, bread, cheese and some onions and sauce. Their House Fries with burger dressing are excellent, and we have to give a shout-out to their vegan burger. Nobody leaves Bleecker Burger hungry. • Bleecker Burger offer world-class burgers and is one of the top contenders in London's burger scene. If you love hamburgers, do yourself a favour and give them a try. Thank us later. ━ @bleeckerburger #burger #burgerdudes #london (at Bleecker) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqPjSIJPSkT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Was Hopes doodoo-ing all over Houses lore, while also removing most of the good parts of the latter game's story and characters and quadrupling down on the bad ones, worth Rhea getting meaningful interactions and relationships with her family and friends for the first time outside of Heroes and having a badass death scene in SB?
This is a difficult question lol -
More seriously, I guess everyone expected something different from the finished Nopes product.
Given all the "attention" Fodlan receives that completely ignores Nabateans (tfw there are no nabatean bond rings bar Flayn who might have been Billy's student, but plot wise?) bar the Heroes alts, I'm very happy for the tasty breadcrumbs Nopes offered.
But if you order a burger, and if only the sesame seeds on the bun are tasty - is it a good burger? I don't think so.
So while another Fodlan procut/content might have forgotten or straight up ignored Nabateans (I just remembered the uwu drama CD :( ), imo those breadcrumbs wasn't worth getting Nopes, aka a game full of retcons, developed as a cashgrab by people who forgot FE16's plot (remember Hayashi said FE16 only had 3 routes !) to get an AU where everyone loses characterisation to uwu, even more than in the base game, about Supreme Leader.
Mind you, the devs from Nopes thought adding Monica and Holst were necessary additions to the story, but apparently, the evil lizard lady wasn't.
On paper, I like the idea of an AU and seeing how characters develop differently if some events of the base game never happened, but at least make them plausible! There's a reason why AG is so well liked, it's different from its FE16 version (unlike Supreme Bullshit and Tru Piss) and has meaningful characters developing in ways they didn't in FE16 (tfw Sylvain and Felix become mature!) while still remaining their core selves (unlike Clout).
But it didn't happen, while I try to find positivity in the game, I'm still a bit miffed that this spin-off could have been a WoH prequel, with giant armies clashing (the Larva paralogue!) where Rhea interacting with her brother (?) and friends while being a badass wouldn't just have been confined to 5% of the game (+3% for the opening cutscene).
Sure, that would have implied yeeting the student/modern world cast and not making a game based on them - still I never hid the fact that I care most about Nabateans in that game than about the student-modern cast, but hey, if I'm wondering about my dream "Nopes", I can be a little self-indulgent right?

Unraveling: The Dam Breaks As the NY Times Notices Some Things About Kamala Harris' MSNBC 'Interview'
Tumblr media
Kamala Harris enjoyed quite the media honeymoon in the aftermath of President Joe Biden being forced out of the presidential race in late July, with her being installed soon after as the Democrat presidential nominee.
For weeks, going into early-mid September, the fawning reporters who among other things tried to absolve her of her border crisis failures largely gave the veep a pass for the calculated tactic of avoiding questions from news organizations outside of the ones the Harris-Walz campaign knew would be especially friendly.
One example was CNN, where Harris was spoon-fed leading questions in late August from anchor Dana Bash while her VP running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, meekly sat next to her in case she needed help.
SEE ALSO:Another CNN Softball Kamala Interview Clip Is Dropped, and Our Intelligence Gets Insulted Again
The latest sit-down interview on a cable news network was MSNBC, where Harris took questions from fangirl anchor Stephanie Ruhle Wednesday in a pretaped segment.
As RedState reported, Harris as per the norm did not answer a single question asked by Ruhle. But there was some cringe cackling, especially when the topic came to whether Harris truly had worked at a McDonald's. ICYMI:
Ruhle: "At any point in your life, have you served two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun?"   Kamala: "I did fries ha ha ha!"
Yeah.
Unfortunately for Harris, the positive coverage dam appears to have cracked among some typical media echo chambers like CNN, which shockingly fact-checked some things she said to Ruhle, which we documented earlier.
But over at the New York Times, the journo dam hasn't just cracked; it has broken wide open, as evidenced by their takeaways from the Harris/Ruhle interview, which were shall we say not exactly flattering:
This part was especially biting:
A hard-hitting Harris interview is still yet to come. Since Ms. Harris began granting more interviews in recent days, her media strategy has been to sit with friendly inquisitors who are not inclined to ask terribly thorny questions or press her when her responses are evasive. Nothing about that changed during her interview with Ms. Ruhle before her audience on MSNBC, the liberal cable channel whose viewers overwhelmingly favor Democratic candidates. [...] Ms. Ruhle joined Ms. Harris in attacking Mr. Trump (“His plan is not serious, when you lay it out like that”) and avoided posing tricky questions about positions Ms. Harris supported during her 2020 presidential campaign or what, if anything, she knew about Mr. Biden’s physical condition or mental acuity as his own campaign deteriorated. Which is perhaps why Ms. Harris agreed to the interview in the first place.
Harris' hope since becoming the nominee was that she'd be able to skate through to November with the press totally in her corner and continuing to look away as she evaded questions and blathered on about "joy" and "aspirations." While most in the media will do just that, there are some, like the Times, who are demonstrating they aren't going to play along any longer.
It's similar to what happened to Joe Biden in 2021 when he continually avoided doing solo press conferences the first few months of his presidency to the point where even his apologists in the White House press corps were openly grumbling and demanding access, calling him in so many words "worse than Trump" in some instances.
Once that access was given, the ball game changed and more people were able to see his incoherency and other problems for themselves throughout his time in office and form opinions about the type of president he was.
The same is starting to hold true of Harris. She finally sat down to take (but not answer) questions, first with CNN and now MSNBC. While we didn't learn much about her policy positions, the American people learned an awful lot about how much of a vapid, empty suit she actually is.
The more she does these things, the more people are going to realize that, which is why she doesn't want to do them.
But she's in a Catch-22 at this point. The more she continues to resist the pressure that is put on her by non-Fox News outlets to put some answers on the record, the worse she's going to look in the eyes of voters who want to know more but who aren't being given the opportunity thanks to her media avoidance strategy, which is still largely in place.
Kamala Harris boxed herself into this corner and now she can't get out of it. It's too delicious for words to watch the unraveling, and the best part about it is that it is Democrat-friendly news organizations like the Times that are bringing it on. More please.

Summertime here at the house is busy and seldom is there a quiet day. In an attempt to stay cool during these sweltering summer days, family and friends congregate at our house—and more especially, around our pool. I personally do not mind having a pool, but I really enjoy entertaining. There is nothing I love more than feeding the people I care about. Let us be honest though. That requires a lot of effort and time to accomplish on a nearly daily basis, so for me, summer entertainment is all about simple and quick. This Summer BBQ Hot Dog and Burger Charcuterie Board is ideal because of this. This amazing Summer BBQ Hot Dog and Burger Charcuterie Board is ideal for simple entertaining for the following reasons: not doing any cooking inside Almost everything is prepared well in advance. It is a complete meal on its own. Extra sides are not required. Visitors can eat whenever they would like. Casual dining is key during the summer. My children are always splashing to get to a table, sit, and eat. In any case, food seems to taste better by the pool! Do I have this right? It is all about the options when it comes to having the best Hot Dog and Burger Charcuterie Board! Of course, a simple grilled beef hot dog or a juicy burger served with the standard fixings are perfectly fine and delicious. And sometimes, on a sweltering summer day, all I want is those traditional flavor combinations. However, have you ever entered an ice cream shop or doughnut shop and felt excited seeing them all? THE TASTE. This inventive charcuterie board offers an incredible range of possibilities in terms of flavor, texture, and appearance! The WOW factor is the aim. Additionally, I know that some people become a little overwhelmed by the variety of options available, even though I naturally want all of my guests to feel free to express their creativity in creating their amazing hot dog and burger creations. For this reason, the list of suggested flavor combinations is quite specific. Ultimately, though, there are no guidelines. Not even the ingredients listed are set in stone. Take this as an opportunity to express your creativity. Ensure that most of the toppings can be prepared in advance, regardless of the selection you make. Toss them into different bowls and store them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve! To ensure that your Summer BBQ Hot Dog and Burger Charcuterie Board is a huge success, follow this quick guide: Make use of your preferred beef burgers and hot dogs! Bacon never goes wrong! Never undervalue the influence of buns! Although sliced baguette, hoagie rolls, pretzel buns, naan, and even tortillas are tasty alternatives, potato buns are still my favorite! Fresh, pickled, crunchy, sweet, creamy, savory, and spicy toppings should all be available. You want to appeal to as many palates as you can! To make the board appear full, cook a large tray of fries and tots for easy sides. You can also use them to fill in the "gaps" between toppings.   Summer BBQ Hot Dog and Burger Charcuterie Board Author: Chris Cockren Total Time: 60 minutes Yield: Serves 8–12, 1x 8 Hamburgers 8 Beef Hot Dogs Variety of Buns (Potato Rolls, Multigrain Buns, Baguette, Brioche Buns, Mini Naan, etc.) ½ package french fries, cooked according to package directions ½ package sweet potato fries, cooked according to package directions ½ package tater tots, cooked according to package directions Toppings: 1 (16-ounce) package bacon, cooked sliced cheese (American, cheddar, Swiss, etc.) shredded cheddar cheese prepared macaroni and cheese thinly sliced cucumber pickled carrots fresh cilantro shredded cheddar cheese crispy fried onions finely diced pineapple sliced scallions sesame seeds prepared chili chopped kimchi hummus tomato-cucumber salad (Israeli salad) salsa guacamole teriyaki sauce bbq sauce spicy mayo feta thinly sliced red onion tzatziki sliced avocado   Instructions Season burgers with kosher salt.  Grill burgers and hot dogs over medium-high heat until cooked as desired.

Winner #5!
The results are in and the winner of our fifth poll - "House of the Rising Sun" (The Animals) and "House of the Sesame Seed Bun" (Weird Al) - is...
"House of the Rising Sun"!
youtube
"House of the Rising Sun" got 73.3% of 318 votes, while its opponent "House of the Sesame Seed Bun" got 21.1%. 5.7% of voters elected to see results.
This is the first time an original song has beaten its Weird Al contender! Congratulations, The Animals, for your distinctive take on this folk song.
As far as my research can tell, only a snippet of "The House of the Sesame Seed bun" was ever played, so it specifically loses in the bonus medley class.
So far the score is...
Originals: 0, Weird Al: 2
Bonus Medley Score:
Originals: 1, Weird Al: 2

The WinDow, 1529 Griffith Park Blvd, Los Angeles (Silver Lake), CA 90026
Tumblr media
Liking the hipster/mysterious vibe at The WinDow. There are three windows: the order window, pickup window for food, pickup window for ice cream and delivery order. The windows are tinted, so you can’t see what’s going on inside. I could not see the face of the person who took my order or the ones who handed me my food. In one case, the bag was left on the counter, so I didn’t even see a human touching the bag.
Order at the window that says ORDER. The menu is simple: cheeseburgers, vegetarian burger, grain bowl, kale salad, French fries, fried chicken sandwich, shakes and dipped cones. On weekends they have a few more items on the menu.
Their smash burgers are cooked on a flat top grill with onions, served with American cheese, pickles, and house sauce.
They’ll call your name when your order is ready.
Cheeseburger ($3.95): Thin patty with crispy bits, good beef flavor but too salty. Also, the onions were black/burnt. Liked the crunchy sour pickles. The house sauce was like a combo of mayo and ketchup – rather bland. The brioche bun was soft and did not have sesame seeds. The burger was okay. I wouldn’t get it again.
Peanut buddy dipped cone ($5): Huge! Reminded me of the Nutty Buddy ice cream cones I used to get but much better. Creamy vanilla soft serve, a thick chocolate shell, chopped peanuts on a crunchy cake cone with a very useful cone holder. I would come back for a dipped cone.
Prices are very reasonable. The seating is very casual – cheap plastic stools and a pop-up tent. Somehow, they made it look artsy.
3.5 out of 5 stars

Burger Battle 2023, Round 18 - The Little Sparo
The little things stick out sometimes. We've been to The Little Sparo four times and sat at the same table each time. It's a lovely spot with a unique ambiance and the food is always on point. Their entry last year was one of our faves, so hopes were high.
Tumblr media
This is The General. A 6 oz ground ribeye, smoked jalapeno braised beef, truffle aioli, smoked mozzarella, tomato, pickles, kale & radicchio on house made sesame and nigella seed milk bun. And in General, it's delicious.
Unlike some other burgers in the competition, the braised meat on top of the patty retained its tenderness. The mozzarella was a very effective weighted blanket in holding down that braised beef and preventing total structural failure. Choice of greens is an underrated skill, but thought was clearly put into the selection of kale in particular as it added a distinct layer of flavour that didn't overwhelm anything. The chef also resisted the temptation to overload that aioli with the trap that is truffle oil, using just enough that the flavour was apparent without bigfooting the rest of the ingredients.
Not that there is no fault to find with this burger. There was no hint of jalapeño in the braised beef, and no smokiness to the mozzarella. I was really looking forward to both of those elements so their absence was a disappointment. That said, had the description not included those specific promises I would likely have enjoyed the burger more. Funny how the brain tricks you.
Overall this is a very good entry that is harmed more by an under-delivery on the ingredients than by flavour. There's nothing that didn't work, and the taste is very good. It just could have been so much more.

“Happy Hour is great!! Food is delicious, had Brussel Sprouts, crab dip and Wagyu burger. Outside atmosphere and view is unbeatable.” Brad H., February 2023 “Gannon’s was recommended to us. And I’d say it was the best dining experience on our trip, hands down. Fantastic food, great drinks, attentive and friendly staff. And of course the beautiful setting. Definitely coming back.” Chris G., February 2023 “We had a large group that took some time to coordinate and Gannons was not only accommodating but flexible with us as the group increased in size. Everyone was kind and helpful from the first phone call to our last sip of wine as we departed, and you toss in great tasting food, generous portion sizes, a beautiful sunset and a place that welcomed kids, and you have achieved five stars! Thanks especially to Sidney and Cara for all of your help!” Bree L., February 2023 “Excellent sunset dinner with beautiful views of the ocean. This restaurant is located within Wailea Golf Club, which is a beautiful property overall. Friendly and attentive service from our server Cody throughout the evening along with the delicious food made for a nice memorable evening. Food quality and taste were good, as expected for a restaurant of this caliber – bbq pork ribs with slaw & pineapple salsa, Korean marinated strip loin with fried rice and cucumber pineapple salad, classic iceberg wedge salad.  Nice Asian flavors fused into the steak and ribs.  We enjoyed the dinner! Their famous coconut roulade dessert was ok- nice crumb on the cake and cream filling was good, but toasted coconut didn’t come through only plain coconut flavor. Great cocktail menu, very creative selections. Cocktails were excellent, strong, especially Mr.Tuttle and Strawberry Fizz.” Chris D., January 2023 “Gannons is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with incredible views! Perfect place to watch the sunset while you sip on Mai Tais and dine on Ahi Poke. Happy Hour options are awesome and a great price!” Amelia S., January 2023 “The concierge at our villas recommended Gannon’s for a family member’s special birthday dinner. We had delicious appetizers, main dishes, and special drinks to celebrate and enjoyed a fabulous sunset, too. Highly recommend Gannon’s.” Julie C., June 2021 Open daily, Gannon’s Restaurant is the perfect spot in Wailea for those looking for something unique and off-the-beaten-tourist-path. Happy hour at Gannon’s in Wailea takes place from 3pm-5pm Tuesday through Saturday in The Red Bar and features discounted beer, wine, cocktails, and appetizers.

Mel's Diner
If you're a fan of old-school American comfort food, Mel's Diner is a must-try. It's part of a local chain that serves classic 1950s-style food in a family-friendly environment.
The Mel's brand traces its roots to the founder, Mel Weiss, and his first restaurant in San Francisco. Weiss was a pioneer in the carhop restaurant movement that was on its rise in the late 1940s and helped define the look of the West Coast diner.
Since its founding, the Mel's chain has grown to include several branches in California. The company is best known for the movie American Graffiti, which was shot on location at a Mel's drive-in in Northern California.
Colton Weiss, who runs the company with his grandfather David "Mel" Weiss, said that they are trying to preserve the brand's legacy while also allowing the chain to adapt to modern times. They're also trying to make the restaurant more family friendly and accommodating to those with special dietary needs, such as those with gluten allergies or vegetarian diets.
About the Restaurant
