Natural convection oven
Inside the natural convection oven the fan and the motor is not available. The air circulated naturally by the means of gravity. Hence it is also called a gravity convection oven. As the hot air oven starts operating the air gets heated up and the air flows up. The temperature is not wholly uniform in this oven.

Hot air oven construction
A hot air oven is equipment used for dry heat sterilization. In this method, the equipment is heated inside the oven at a specific temperature to kill the microorganisms. The materials use in laboratories is good conductor of heat so they serve to be ideal for dry heat sterilization.
Construction of hot air oven
Cabinet – The cabinet is the outermost body of the hot air oven. It consists of stainless steel. It is insulated from the inside so that the heat won’t escape and the temperature inside the chamber remains constant.
Shelves – The inner chamber is provided with shelves. The material need to be sterilized is placed on the shelves.
Door – The hot air oven has a door on one side fitted on the heavy hinges with insulation provided. The gasket is provided on the side which minimizes the heat loss during the operation.
Thermostat – The main role of the thermostat is to maintain the desire heating temperature inside the chamber. It is connected with the sensor which senses the temperature and maintains as per the settings.
Control panel – The control panel is placed on the front side above the door. It has various display panels and switches for measurements.
Fan – The fan is provided on the top which is driven by the motor. It circulates the hot air oven inside the chamber to ensure uniform temperature heat distribution.
Air heaters – The heaters are placed on both sides of the chamber. The required heat for sterilization is generated through heaters.
Custom laboratory ovens
Some applications demand different kind of lab oven rather than the standard one; therefore we also manufacture customized hot air oven as per the customer need. The customer defines the specific size, temperature range and other accessories. Our team can make sure to deliver your requirement with the quality standard at a competitive price.

Hot Air Oven Types
The hot air oven uses dry heat to sterilize the equipment. This equipment will not melt or catch fire while heating. The process destroys the microorganisms and bacteria while heating. The temperature range of hot air oven is between 50°C to 450°C with different types. The types are listed below
 1) Natural convection oven – Inside the natural convection oven the fan and the motor is not available. The air circulated naturally by the means of gravity. Hence it is also called a gravity convection oven. As the hot air oven starts operating the air gets heated up and the air flows up. The temperature is not wholly uniform in this oven.
 2) Force convection oven – These types of laboratory oven has a fan and a motor assembly. So that the heated air is circulated from top to the bottom. This method provides a uniform temperature throughout the chamber and also provides the fast heat up time.
 3) Side Draughts oven – This oven has the fan and the motor assembly but from the side. The hot air flows from the left to right direction or vice versa depending upon the fan placement. These hot air ovens also provide a uniform temperature distribution all over the chamber.
TEMPO Instruments provides heating solution with innovative and high-end technology through high quality to the global market. Contact us or enquire now for more details.

Difference between the Lab Oven and Lab Furnace
There is often confusion between the hot air oven and the laboratory furnace. As both are used for the heating purpose there is little difference in between the equipment. So read through the end to get a complete understanding between these two.
Tumblr media
Some key factors separated the hot air oven and the laboratory furnace.
Temperature range
Temperature range is the main factor that differentiates the hot air oven from the muffle furnace. As the hot air oven can achieve a temperature of 5°C to 450°C, the furnace is used particularly for higher temperature application. Our furnace is designed to provide the operating temperature from 900°C to 1400°C. It is not possible to achieve this higher temperature using the oven because the material will melt.
Heat distribution
In the    lab oven, the heating tubes are provided outside of the inner chamber which generates the heat. The fan is placed inside the chamber to circulate the air to ensure the uniform temperature distribution of heat. The amount of recirculated air required is high in the lab oven.
While inside the furnace, heat is directly introduced to the sample and it is dependent upon the heat source of the furnace. The heating source can be placed in various configurations to provide the best uniform heating.
Environment
The environment for both the hot air oven and the furnace is quite similar. The furnace can be operated in a combustible atmosphere of gas.
Applications
Both the equipment has their benefits. If your application requires a lower temperature, you can select the hot air oven which is less in price. But, if you have a higher temperature requirement then you must choose the furnace which will cost you more. You can check the available sizes of hot air oven and muffle furnace over on our website. Feel free to contact us for more details.

HOT AIR OVEN: THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE
Hot air oven
Hot air ovens are laboratory and scientific equipment which uses dry heat (hot air mixture) for sterilization of laboratory equipment.
The dry heat sterilization process is developed by Louis Pasteur to sterilize the equipment using the hot air ovens. Dry heat sterilization is the heating process in which the material which is placed inside the oven has the characteristics which will not melt, catch fire or changes its form while heating at high temperature.
Our hot air oven runs at extremely high temperature for several hours to destroy the bacteria. The general temperature range required for operation varies from 5°C to 450°C as per the customer need.
Most of the pharmaceutical industries use these hot air ovens to sterilize laboratory instruments and materials because they are simple to operate. The lab ovens also offered a quick dying process.  Further more details are provided so read more to get a complete understanding.
Laboratory oven construction
Cabinet – Our hot air ovens are uses for triple-walled construction. The cabinets are made using stainless steel material. A single door is provided which is fitted on the heavy hinges and provided the required gasket to reduce the leakage.
Insulation – The gap between the inner chamber and outer cabinet is filled with 3″ thick glass wool insulation. It provides insulation to the oven so that the heat is lost during operation.
Tubular air heaters – The heaters are used to generate the heat inside the inner chamber. The heaters are placed on both sides of the inner chamber.
Blower –The blower is used to recirculate the hot air mixture inside the chamber to achieve a uniform temperature profile inside the chamber. In a natural convection oven, the blower is not required. The desire temperature profile is achieved naturally.
Temperature sensor – The temperature sensor senses the temperature the displays it on the screen.
Trays and slots – The specially designed stainless steel rod trays are provided to place the material for heating. The number of trays and slots required can be changed as per the customer requirement.
PID temperature controller – The microprocessor-based autotune PID controller is used to maintaining the desired temperature ranges during the operation.
Main switch – It helps the turn on and turn off the hot air oven.
Safety thermostat – It helps to protect your oven from temperature overshoot.
Laboratory hot air oven working
Dry heat sterilization is performed by conduction. First, the door is open and the object is placed on the tray. The trays having the object, placed inside the chamber on the slots. The door is closed and the switch turns on. The hot air oven is then set to desired temperature and time that is required for the sterilization.
As the hot air mixture start to generate and the temperature starts to increase, the heat is first consumed by the outer surface of the object and then it gradually moves towards the core, layer by layer. The whole object will uniformly achieve the desired temperature required for the sterilization. After running for the specified time the oven gets turned off. Once the process is done then the door is opened and the tray holder is taken out. The object is allowed to cool for some time and then use for further application.
Types of hot air oven
Natural convection oven – In natural convection oven the temperature is achieved naturally (gravity convection) without the use of a motorized blower. The temperature distribution is not uniform in this type of oven.
Forced convection oven – In a forced convection oven the motorized blower is used to achieve the desire working temperature. The blower is fitted to the motor. The temperature achieved is fast and uniform in this type of oven as compared to the natural type.
Side draught ovens – These type of ovens produces airflow from one side to the other. This type of lab oven produces fast heat-up speed and less recovery time with minimal maintenance.
