Rather than assuming Elain's seer abilities gave her visions of a life with Lucien she didn't want it is possible she saw a life for herself that she in fact desires very badly. Most people are incapable of taking everything they want regardless of how badly they want it, and choosing to have it is often the most difficult part of the process. I think it would be a very interesting development, if Elain knew that she could be happy but for some reason or another couldn't bring herself to do it out of fear or denial of some kind!
