Fuck artist statements let's have some time loop and dangerous Moon @pillowspace
(coming back to this two days later and I'm still using this to avoid editing my artist statement rip)
Uh let's see, there's death again. This time it's not so explicitly written out but it's also suicide-ish so.
You've learned the hard way that Moon is dangerous.
It's hard to explain, the disconnect you had before. Maybe it's because the first time you rarely saw him, the generators in the daycare keeping him away and you, the obedient, oblivious worker, keeping to your schedule until the very end.
You had thought that first time maybe you'd died from the smoke. You'd been rather dumb, in hindsight, racing towards the fire when you realized the pizzaplex was on fire, looking for the attendant. They're an animatronic, so they theoretically would be fine right? Maybe the fabric of their costume would burn, but how hot would a fire have to be to melt steel?
Sometimes, when you struggle to sleep, you find yourself wondering about the other loops. Did you leave these timelines and move onto a new one, like a snake shedding its skin? Were there other yous left lying on a cold metal table in a cold tiled room for your family to identify? Did it hurt to die and your mind was just preventing you from remembering?
They're not thoughts you like very much, as you would start to ache like your body was remembering the ways you died. Warm metal fingers curling around your throat.
You sleep with the hall light on now, when those thoughts come up.
Currently though, you stand at the edge of a pool of light left by a lone pendant swinging overhead. You can see the red LED dots of Moon's eyes as he crouches just out of sight, watching you, and your throat starts to hurt.
"Can't we talk?" you plead, but other than the soft jingle of bells, there's no reply. You continue anyway, willing yourself to see through the darkness. "You weren't like this when we met Moon." That first time, times, before something in him snaps. "What happens to you? What changes?"
"Quiet now." Moon's hand grabs at the tightly knitted texture of your sweater, pulling the thick wool loose as you jerk back in shock. Your eyes dart to the red dots in the distance. Oh, oh, oh no, you'd been watching some sort of motion sensor or whatever, not Moon.
Your throat hurts from an unvoiced scream. You grab at your sleeve, feeling the ruined wool. Moon lingers at the edge of the light, constantly moving, squatting so he's almost shorter than you, swaying. It's silly, how he moves, and it almost makes you smile.
"I don't want to be quiet Moon. I want to help you." You wish you could read the animatronics better, but Moon had even less expressiveness than his daytime counterpart, and when he was like this, you weren't sure there really was anything to read at all. "I'm starting to think maybe that's why I'm still here."
"Still here because you're a rulebreaker and need to go to sleep." You heard once that Moon used to play the villain at the theater. As he hisses out words that by any reasonable measure should not be hissable, you can see why. Worse though, is him returning into the darkness, quite literally rolling away in a backflip. You can't see him, and you ignore those red dots because that's not Moon dammit.
"I definitely need a nap," you agree, scanning the room, trying to make out where Moon's bells are. "But I don't think you'll actually put me to sleep." Pause. "Moon? The kids in those posters. A couple of them were at the daycare. What... what did you do to them?"
"They were naughty and had to be punished."
There's a creaking overhead and you look up in time to see the pendant swing widely before you jump out of the way, the metal and glass structure crashing to the ground as the light went out with a pop. You don't quite make the tuck and roll like you'd hoped, and you sit up slowly, nursing your ankle as you try to stand and immediately drop down again. A sprain, probably. But there was no way you could run right now.
You pat your pockets down instead, fumbling for your phone, a lighter, some source of light, but a hand grabs the back of your shirt and you're hoisted in the air, unable to wiggle free from both the speed and the clumps of hair trapped in Moon's grip. If you move your head, it feels like you're being scalped. You kick out in vain, dropping your phone to grab at Moon's arm. "Moon! Let go!"
"No." He shakes you, and that hurts as hair is ripped out and your head flops uselessly back and forth. You grab at his arm again as he begins to move, almost dancing through the air. You'd been nearish the atrium before, but now he's taking you deeper inside. "She says you need to be punished."
"She?" You stop struggling. This is new. "Who is she?" But Moon doesn't answer. His grip tightens against your back and you find yourself staring up at him.
Moon is harder to read than Sun, and definitely harder to read than the other, more expressive glamrocks. But even in the dark, you could swear that right now he's... sad? Resigned?
Maybe he didn't want to do this either. You look down. The fall is a good thirty, maybe forty feet. Okay. "I know you don't want to do this Moon," you say softly, and he doesn't look at you. "That's okay. I'll figure this out next time."
"Wha--"
You wiggle free of your sweater to fall, staring up at Moon as he stares down at you, immobilized in shock. That's the last thing you see before your back hits a bannister, and there's fireworks in your mind and then blackness.
.
.
.
The quiet screech of your phone's alarm wakes you from sleep. You're curled up like some sort of hibernating bear, twisted in the blankets piled on your bed. One hand finds your phone and silences it. You know where you're at and when. Your back and foot throb when you try to remember why. You remember talking to Moon.
There's a she involved now. Who is she? Maybe she was the key to solving the loops.
You don't remember falling, just not wanting to put Moon through anymore pain. Maybe this would be the loop to end it, to break all of you free. You sure hope so.
But for now, you're going to spend a few more minutes curled up and safe, just until you're ready to face the day.
#time loop au#okay I guess I'll actually do grad school work now#I did some light editing since I was working on this originally friday and the internet went out#i thought it got deleted entirely!

In previos texts from my English lessons I fordot about grammar. I try to fix this in today's text.
König helps Horangi after injury. 679 words.
“Don’t look at me like that!” Horangi shouted angrily.
König remained silent. He helped Hong Jin sit, crouched down, and began untying the laces of his boots. The Korean suffered a shrapnel wound during the last mission and had to be hospitalized, but escaped. König met him in the smoking area behind the barracks. Horangi sat there, pale and emaciated, and clearly unable to move on his own. Despite this, he refused to return to the hospital, so the Austrian had to take him to their room.
“Hey, babe,” Horangi sighed and looked guiltily, “I was wrong, okay? I shouldn’t have run away from the hospital. I just missed you, and I want to sleep in my bed.”
“I don’t think you can sleep in your bed.” König finally answered and carefully removed the boots from Horangi’s legs.
That was true. There was a bunk bed in their room, and Hong Jin occupied the top bunk. He won’t be able to climb there in his condition. As for König, he couldn’t sleep on the top because he was afraid that the bed structure wouldn’t support the weight of his stocky body.
“I don’t think you can sleep in your bed,” the Austrian repeated, “but I miss you too, so I’ll think of something, mein Tigerjunges.”
König removed both their mattresses and placed them on the floor. Then he adjusted the sheets and pillows, unfolded the blankets, and looked at his Korean.
“That’s nice,” Hong Jin smiled. “We have a double bed now. Why didn’t we do this earlier?”
“Because you love your top bunk, maybe.” König said this and took off his sniper hood. “You should lie down and rest. I’ll help you undress.”
Approaching Horangi, he bent down, unbuttoned his hoodie, and helped him out of his sleeves. Hong Jin’s movements were stiff because of the pain, and he hissed quietly but didn’t complain. Taking off the t-shirt was more difficult because he couldn’t lift his left arm. König pulled it off Horangi’s head and right arm first, then carefully removed it from his left one. Hong Jin’s shoulder and chest were bandaged. Another bandage was on the stomach. The injuries were extensive but, fortunately, not very serious.
“Thank you, babe.” Horangi raised his uninjured arm and wrapped it around his Austrian’s neck. “It hurts like hell, you know?”
“I know.” König sighed heavily and gently ran his fingers over the scars on Hong Jin’s cheek. “Hold on a little longer, mein Liebe. I’ll help you lie down now.”
Realizing that it would be difficult for the wounded man to sit on the mattress on the floor, König lifted Horangi in his arms and carefully placed him on the makeshift bed. Then he covered Hong Jin with a blanket, bent down, and kissed him on the temple.
“It’s my fault,” König said quietly. “I wasn’t with you there.”
“Don’t be stupid,” Horangi rolled his eyes, “you covered the retreat. Fulfilled an order. So you did everything right, my sweety. Roger that?”
“Aye.” The Austrian stood up and took on his sniper hood. “I’ll bring you food and meds. Don’t get up.”
Horangi was dozing when König returned, but woke up hearing his heavy steps. After a portion of hot soup and a dose of painkillers, he felt better, but he wanted to sleep even more.
“Hey, babe,” he called in a sleepy voice, “will you lie down with me?”
“Of course.” König smiled and started to undress.
Hong Jin smiled gently, looking at his shrapnel-torn back, side and face. He found the tall and stocky Austrian absolutely perfect, and no amount of scars could change it. They both were soldiers, war-dogs, and the traces of fire and steel on their bodies made them beautiful, not disfigured. Each scar meant that the wound had healed and that the person who received it had survived. If that’s not beautiful, then what is?
The Austrian lay down and hugged Horangi carefully and gently. The Korean rested his head on König’s shoulder and fell asleep quickly in his strong and warm embrace.

Understanding the Manufacturing Process of MSERW Pipes
Mild Steel Electric Resistance Welded (MSERW) pipes play a crucial role in numerous industries, ranging from construction to automotive. These pipes are known for their strength, durability, and ability to withstand extreme conditions, making them an ideal choice for various structural and mechanical applications. Whether you are a project manager or an engineer, understanding the manufacturing process of MSERW pipes is essential for selecting the right product for your needs. If you are searching for a reliable MSERW Pipe dealer in Gujarat, this comprehensive guide will help you understand the journey of these pipes from raw materials to finished products.
What is an MSERW Pipe?
MSERW pipes are manufactured using mild steel through a process called Electric Resistance Welding (ERW). These pipes are formed by rolling metal and welding it longitudinally along its length using electric resistance. The result is a strong, seamless pipe that is widely used in industries like water supply, oil and gas, agriculture, and structural works.
The mild steel used in the production of these pipes gives them a balance between strength and flexibility, making them ideal for both high-pressure and low-pressure applications. As a trusted MSERW Pipe Supplier in Gujarat, Tube Trading offers high-quality pipes that meet industry standards and provide excellent performance.
Step-by-Step Manufacturing Process of MSERW Pipes
The manufacturing process of MSERW pipes involves several stages, each contributing to the quality and structural integrity of the final product. Below is a detailed breakdown of the entire manufacturing process:
1. Selection of Raw Material
The process begins with the selection of high-quality mild steel coils, also known as hot-rolled steel coils. These coils form the base material for MSERW pipes. The chemical composition of the steel is carefully chosen to ensure it meets the required mechanical properties such as strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance. A reliable MSERW Pipe Provider in Gujarat ensures that the raw materials adhere to international quality standards.
2. Slitting
Once the raw material is selected, it is cut into narrow strips using a process called slitting. The width of the strips depends on the required diameter of the pipe. The slitting process is carried out with high precision to avoid any discrepancies that might affect the final product. These narrow steel strips are later used to form the body of the pipe.
3. Forming
The steel strips are then passed through a series of rollers that bend the material into the shape of a cylinder. This process is known as forming. The edges of the steel strip are brought together to create a seam, which will later be welded. The forming process is critical because it ensures the pipes achieve their final shape without any cracks or irregularities.
4. Electric Resistance Welding (ERW)
In the ERW process, the edges of the steel strip are welded together using electric resistance. This is achieved by applying high-frequency electric current along the seam. The resistance generated by the electric current causes the edges to heat up, melting the metal and fusing it together. The result is a welded seam that is as strong as the rest of the pipe, ensuring the structural integrity of the entire product.
MSERW pipes are known for their superior welding quality, and this process is a major contributing factor. Leading MSERW Pipe Suppliers in Gujarat prioritize high-precision welding to avoid issues like weak seams or leaks in the final product.
5. Sizing and Shaping
Once the welding is complete, the pipe goes through additional rollers that ensure it reaches the correct diameter and roundness. This step is known as sizing and shaping. The pipe is passed through a series of sizing rollers that give it the exact dimensions required for its intended application. At this stage, any residual stress in the pipe is also minimized.
6. Cutting to Length
After sizing, the MSERW pipes are cut to the desired length. High-precision cutting equipment ensures that each pipe is of uniform length. This is essential for industries that require pipes of specific dimensions. The pipes are cut either by flying saws or other automated cutting machines to ensure accuracy.
7. Testing and Quality Control
Before the pipes are sent to the market, they undergo rigorous testing and quality control checks. Several non-destructive testing methods, such as ultrasonic testing, hydrostatic testing, and eddy current testing, are employed to check for any defects in the welded seam or body of the pipe. Leading MSERW Pipe Dealers in Gujarat ensure that every pipe undergoes thorough quality control to guarantee its durability and performance.
8. Surface Treatment
The surface of the pipes is treated to protect them from corrosion and enhance their longevity. This may include galvanization or coating with protective layers like epoxy or other anti-corrosive materials. Surface treatment ensures that the pipes are suitable for outdoor and corrosive environments, such as those found in the oil and gas industry.
9. Packaging and Delivery
Finally, the MSERW pipes are packaged for delivery. Packaging ensures that the pipes are protected during transit and arrive at the customer’s location in perfect condition. At this point, the pipes are ready to be delivered to various industries, from construction to infrastructure projects, where they will be used in numerous applications.
Applications of MSERW Pipes
MSERW pipes are highly versatile and used in a wide range of industries. Below are some of their key applications:
Construction: Used for scaffolding, structural supports, and building frameworks.
Oil and Gas Industry: Utilized for transporting oil, gas, and water due to their strength and durability.
Water Supply: Employed in plumbing systems and water pipelines.
Automotive Industry: Used for exhaust systems and structural components.
Agriculture: Commonly used in irrigation systems and water transport.
As a top MSERW Pipe Provider in Gujarat, Tube Trading supplies pipes that can be customized according to the specific needs of these industries.
Why Choose MSERW Pipes?
Cost-Effective: MSERW pipes are less expensive to produce compared to seamless pipes, offering an economical solution for various applications.

@fullcfphobias || Continued from here.
She reacts in slow motion, all in her head and face, a sort of slow roll back, eyes wobbling in her head like marbles, lips tensing. A merfolk gesture, at its core, something old and deep and carved into the annuals of instinct, indecipherable to anyone else who wouldn't be able to tell it from any other muscle twitch.
Oz is too close. Her thoughts come disconnected and beheaded, strung out in chunks so that they occur and she cannot trace them backwards or ahead, only exist within them. They are far too close. They shouldn't be this close, too close, too near to her scales and her skin and her face. Fear floods in, hot and furious and speaking nothing of where it came from, that they would touch her.
She couldn't tolerate it. Wouldn't tolerate it. She couldn't, she couldn't, she couldn't, the ghosts of touch and of hands lingering over her scales, possessive, possessing her, algae film stinging her with caustic touch no matter how much she flailed and kicked. It sticks in her joints, in the bend of her elbows, where her scales are thin and her skin shows through, and she simply cannot tolerate this.
The memory is there before Oz ever touches her, before they ever speak a word, a twitch of muscle deep in her skull and in her throat, a pornographic roll of her tongue and throat, vomit that sticks in her esophagus before she can even be sick on the floor. This is all an act in misery. This is all a ghost of pain. Everything exists and then it doesn’t. She blinks out, blinks in, straddles the midline of existence and finds it unable to bear, trying to become something she’s not, something she’ll never be.
“Turn around, Oz. Close your eyes. Go home.” Her body protests in absence of her mind, of anyone at the helm to guide her. The collar of her attire sticks to her throat, and she knows its her own blood coating the pseudo-velvet down against her scales, a waste of her official dress for duties of the throne’s attention, but she cannot make this mean anything. There’s still blood caterpillar crawling down from the tender behind of her jaw, her fins, the place where her gills punch straight through into her throat, and she can feel chunks creeping outwards. She does not mention these. She does not think at all what they are. She does not think at all.
She is Crown Princess Miranda Vanderbilt. She is Crown Princess Miranda Vanderbilt. She is Crown Princess Miranda Vanderbilt.
She is a gesture and a tool, an implement of forged steel and bent wire and carved bone, hollow and vapid and perfect. She is something Oz will never be. She is made immaculate, refined and honed and sharpened, and there are pieces of her gills, soft and spongy as her lungs, falling out of herself and splattering over her nice white breast piece.
It’s very nice, isn’t it? Lovely, really. This piece of attire isn’t at all like her typical sundress, nor even her flowery and attractive pieces that she might typically flounce about in. It’s structured like a suit, maybe, in the abstract, although the details err. Nice thick fabric, cut into square pieces. Lovely embroidery work. There’s a chain of gold links crossing over her chest, over her white fabric with its pearly little buttons, and there’s a golden badge pinned somewhere to her side — she’s forgotten where — with her family’s insignia on it. It’s harder to move in this than how she usually likes, turning her gestures hard and doll-like where it refuses to bend anywhere but the joints, close to her body, snipping her movements in half.
She doesn’t know where she is either, but that’s fine too. It’s fine. It’s done. It’s completed. Just make them stop looking at her. Make them stop looking at her. Make them stop touching her. They are touching her, right? She can feel someone touching her. She doesn’t want them to be touching her, but there are hands, all the same, walking up and down over her throat and her chest and her arms. She wants them to stop. Please stop. Please. It’s all she has left, all she can do. Please stop touching her. She can’t make them stop touching her. She can’t make the sensation go away, no matter how hard she tries, no matter how hard she looks for it, possessive and deserving and shaping all the same.
She’s forgotten who she is.
She is Crown Princess Miranda Vanderbilt.
She is Crown Princess Miranda Vanderbilt.
She is Crown Princess Miranda Vanderbilt.
“You do not have to see what is here. You do not have to look at it. You do not have to understand this. Just turn back. Just turn back. Go back home. Shut your eyes. Forget what you saw.”
Someone is moving her mouth, and she wants to vomit at the sensation of swallowing, of the thick bobbing and wet slap that the back of her throat makes, the way her tongue presses up against the roof of her mouth, all those wet ridges and the pinch of spincter muscles and the sting of acid as it crawls up from the grave of her stomach. Her eyes stay focused, somewhere. She forgets where. She doesn’t know what her body’s doing. She hates the way her mouth feels, to mouth, to breathe, to speak.
“You can ignore it. If you stay, you can not ignore it. You will have to look at it. Just go home. Go home. Forget you saw this. Nothing will change if you do not make it.”

They are known for their versatility, strength, and durability, making them an ideal material for a wide range of applications where strength and reliability are paramount. This blog post will provide an in-depth overview of ASTM A105 carbon steel round bars, including their properties, characteristics, applications, and more.
Properties of Carbon Steel Round Bars:
ASTM A105 carbon steel round bars are made from low-carbon steel and are known for their unique properties. They are cold drawn, turned, and polished, which gives them a smooth surface finish and excellent dimensional accuracy. These bars have a minimum yield strength of 36,000 psi and a minimum tensile strength of 70,000 psi, making them strong and durable.
Characteristics of Carbon Steel Round Bars:
ASTM A105 carbon steel round bars have several characteristics that make them perfect for various applications. They are highly corrosion-resistant, making them an ideal choice for harsh environments. Additionally, these bars are easy to machine, weld, and form, allowing for greater flexibility in design and manufacturing. They can also withstand high temperatures without losing their strength, making them suitable for applications that require heat resistance.
Applications of Carbon Steel Round Bars:
ASTM A105 carbon steel bars are used in various applications across various industries, from construction and manufacturing to automotive and aerospace. They are commonly used in the fabrication of pressure vessels, piping, and fittings, as well as in the production of pump shafts and other mechanical components. August 9, 2018 Mixtape.
A few months ago, I asked to meet up with a goth-girl mutual named Holly, whom I was genuinely interested in, and she agreed. She later revealed that she enjoyed a night out by celebrating her boyfriend’s birthday. She outright lied to me and led me on with a smiling face. I was devastated. The hurt forever changed me, and I was hit with a brand-new era of anxiety, depression, and devaluation. I would never see or feel the same ever again.
I would experience feelings I never had before. Feelings so wild, intense, and vivid that I started seeing the fear and think of things I never thought possible. The ‘June Visions’, I called them. The past strikes and losses of the past unforgivably returned to assure me that I was feeling lesser-than. I’d arrive to work everyday unfocused, lost, worried, and saddened while still trying to justify and convince myself to have her around before the inevitable silence. Time around me moved forward as my mind was at a total standstill, endlessly processing why someone who seemed interested and wanting to meet up would take advantage of me. Plans of having a city contact and new experiences long overdue became null and void. I’d now carry the barbed-wire cross with me everywhere I go, with no volunteers wanting to take it off my back.
I wasn’t told that I’d be trapped, slaughtered, skinned, and hung up to be bled dry. Built up only to collapse. But the show must go on, they tell you. You keep fighting on the front-lines as the empty shells smoke hot and nestle near your heart. You can do the same with your daily deeds while fighting injured until you can’t fight anymore.
I haven’t seen my (Italian) Aunt Laura in ten years. After months of back-and-forth messaging, we both found a day and time to meet up in her neighborhood of Coney Island. I hopped off the ‘D’ line to Surf Avenue and walked through the amusement park and towards the shore. The rides split away from my peripherals as I was in awe of witnessing the infinite waters and flush hazy sunny skies past the thick shoreline in melting temperatures and humidity. It was an experience in the making. I didn’t know it when I was right in the center of it until I was on the outside looking in. The moment burned so bright that the day spent uniting with long-lost family would leave an impression on me.
A doctor’s appointment on a sweltering Thursday made for another day in the city. Since it was an early afternoon visit, I desired to do a photoshoot in Manhattan. I meant to cross off some specific landmarks from the list because something inside me for months was aching to do it. I take my kit and tripod with me for what would be a full day of urgency.
I board the Brentwood train heading west to Penn Station as always, this afternoon under the dull silver skies. I take a seat on the right-hand side of the car moving backwards. There are not many empty seats, so I take my backpack and rest it on my lap. Since I’m headed to Manhattan, I’ll send Holly a text and let her know I’ll be in Manhattan. A roll of chuck-a-luck, but the odds are against me. The sounds in my ear are playing one after another to create the day’s memories as I do my best to distract myself from a newfound pain that persists. My eyes are fixated on the motion blur of the receding buildings, steel structures, streets, shopping centers, trees, and graffiti all over. It wasn’t until the train riding through Woodside that I heard from Holly. “Have fun.” she texted. A passive message of indifference with no emotion or effort. Two words was all it took to show me that she didn’t care.
My arrival in Manhattan started off by arriving at Penn Station in hazy grayscale skies and steady sticky Eighties’ heat. As soon as my check-up was over, I bolted out and took the N/R/W line south to Bryant Park and the American Radiator / Standard Building. I had an interest in seeing the structure ever since Chris Stewart used it for the album cover, and over time became a huge fan. I’d had no idea if the clouds would give way to more clarity, but by the time I stood at the park’s northwestern corner, I’d see them dissipate and stream out to make way for sharper, bluer skies. The park was densely occupied. Foreign families took pictures of their modelesque daughters posing in front of the crowds. The females in indie-rock fashion would sit by themselves under the shade to read their New York Times-recommended bestsellers or the bookshelves lined on the outer edge of the park. I’d take my time, an hour’s worth, to take a multitude of shots facing south at the park’s entrance. I sat down and had a row of saltines stashed in my backpack to satiate my appetite, then called my other Italian aunt Theresa to tell her I was enjoying myself. In reality, I wasn’t.
From there I’d take the 1/2/3 line down to Tribeca and arrive only a few blocks away from the new 1 World Trade Center / Freedom Tower. There was no trace of clouds by then. Just the ever-present blue skies and the shearing sun looking over me. I set up my kit and tripod on the corner of Broadway and Leonard St. facing south and started snapping my ideas away. Natural light, low light, filtered, non-filtered, color mode, telephoto, wide-angle depth. I’d zoom in to the maximum to see the trade center’s metal framing, windows, and antennas in any which way I could, then pull back to capture the vast landscape of Tribeca’s city streets. But it wasn’t enough. I walk a few blocks east over West St. And 9A to the Hudson River, all along Rockefeller Park and Pier 25 to take closer shots of the Freedom Tower. I’m surrounded by strenuous activity all on the mini-golf courses, volleyball courts, children’s playgrounds, and tricks on the skate park. Two hours pass since arriving here, and I sit down to face the water to call my sister to say that I made it safe and sound.
I reversed course on the 1/2/3 line heading up north for my last destination: Times Square. I walk up from the underground stop and I see the multi-million-dollar high-resolution advertisements towering over me. The older digital photos of my visit there in New Year’s Eve 2007 were a factor in me returning. I snap the aesthetics like no tomorrow. My penchant for Helvetica and subway aesthetic were the first targets; synonymous with New York transit shining bright and aesthetically pleasing. The bright dazzling arrays of electronic signs, neons, storefronts, and marquees of all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. Everything was fair game to me; all while avoiding the infinite stream of passers-by. Me versus mammoth Manhattan’s hustle-and-bustle.
The sun was setting for all of ninety minutes taking photos there, ushering in the day’s conclusion. The mix of Manhattan’s Eighties heat, roasted sulphur and steel had me exhausted, bent, and expired by sundown. I did all what I could’ve done today. I walked back down leaving Times Square carrying the cross to Penn Station and 33rd Street to take the train back home.
Everywhere I went that day, I realize: she’s here. She’s right here - and yet so far away from me.
I enter Penn Station and walk into the station’s department store which was depressing. Old, outdated aesthetics. The shelves were running on empty and I look around for clearance sweets and discounted snacks to tide me over for the hour-long ride. The location was going out of business. No half-off water. It’s Summer. Don’t even dare to be kind or show any mercy for thirst. I roam around in the lobby for an hour before the ticket booths and the large display of destinations and times, waiting to jump on the first indication of what track my train arrives. The Brentwood line finally arrives, and I run with the passengers-slash-school of fish who look to compete for the seat of their choice.
I had a lot of thinking to do; as if I haven’t already in the past two months. I paid a hefty price for pursuing someone, and all I got was collateral damage that will never be fully cleaned up. I tried to negotiate with myself in doing the right thing by hanging in there and still be friends with her, but odds are I’ll never see her. I will continue to place my bets and pay - and pay - and pay - and pay. I’ll pay at a sunken cost to torture myself by foolishly believing that she’ll reach out to me again because who knows what could happen.
And after I step off the train, I’ll be thinking on the drive home. I’ll be thinking what I could’ve had and lost out on. I’ll be thinking what I might have possibly done wrong, what I did or didn’t do, or what I didn’t have enough of for her to do this to me. I’ll be thinking about the wasted time needlessly thrown away. I’ll be thinking about this every night I go to sleep, when I get out of bed, and when I’m at work struggling to balance customers’ childish mentality and entitled attitudes with the whirlwind concoction of loneliness, depression, and every loss coming back; paid in full to haunt me until the day I die.
Those two words would be the very last I’d hear of her.
