a/n: i know next to nothing about the inner workings of mafias and i made up the rival mafia, so this might not be the most accurate

The Tracksuit Mafia had a lot of enemies, which was to be expected. Lots of mafias ran around New York, staking their claim in their individual territories. And Kazi was okay with that for a long time, always trying to get he and his friends out of sticky situations alive, but understanding the danger that came with the job.

And then he fell in love with Y/n.

Like Maya, Y/n had followed their family’s path and joined the mafia. Y/n worked their way up through the various sectors of the Tracksuits until the day that they showed up to work directly with Maya and Kazi.

It had been love at first sight for Kazi, but he ignored it for a while. Workplace romances are hit and miss already, and when your work constantly requires you to put your life on the line you don’t really want to add romance to the mix. But oh how [handsome/beautiful] Y/n was, and Kazi found he just clicked with them. So despite his hesitation, Kazi found himself getting closer to Y/n, but still he kept them at an arm’s length. The two would causally flirt back and forth occasionally, but Kazi swore he would never let it go any further. But still he kept a soft spot in his heart for Y/n.

Recently, The Knives had been doing business within the Tracksuit’s territory, slowly trying to push Kingpin out and establish themselves as the top mafia. Obviously that wasn’t going to happen, and so Y/n and some of the other Tracksuits had been sent to give a ‘warning’ to the Knives.

That had been 4 hours ago, and now Maya watched as Kazi paced the floor of the safe house.

“Why are you so tense.” She signed, a little annoyed but also concerned at her friend’s obvious distress.

“They’ve been gone too long.” Kazi signed back, stopping in his tracks for a moment.

“It’ll be fine, we are stronger than The Knives. Now take a seat or something, you’re going to wear out the floor.”

Kazi didn’t have time to reply, because at that moment some of the men sent on the assignment came bursting through the door. Instantly Kazi and Maya were up, the former translating for the latter as the men rushed with their words.

“The assignment was a bust; The Knives have more numbers than they let on, and we were overwhelmed almost as soon as we entered their hideout. We tried to get everyone back, but they’ve got Ricky, Sylvester, and Y/n.”

Kazi felt his heart drop into his stomach as he realized that those thugs had Y/n. He tried to push away thoughts of all that they could be doing to you to focus on how to get you back. Kazi didn’t care if he had to burn half of New York to do it, he was going to get Y/n back.

6 hours later, the sun was peaking over the horizon as Kazi, Maya, and their reinforcements approached The Knives’ compound. Much like the Tracksuits, the mafia had currently based their operations out of an abandoned building. The old factory was vast, but Kazi had managed to gather enough information about the general layout and where they held hostages.

Quietly the group moved through the building, one of the others taking out the occasional mafia member they came across, but Kazi moved constantly towards Y/n. As he and his small team of men approached the central room, they all heard a clamor coming from the East end. Kazi’s face broke into a smile as he watched Maya’s diversion work, and soon the room was empty except for the main leader, his second in command, and 4 bodyguards. Chained together in the middle were Ricky, Sylvester, and Y/n.

Adrenaline rushed through Kazi at the sight of Y/n’s face, a little battered a bruised, but eyes bright as they looked around to see what was happening. Motioning to his group, they all rushed down the stairs and took on the remaining gang members and their leader.

With every punch, dodge, and shot, all Kazi could think about was getting to Y/n. Bringing them back to safety fueled the man’s movements, making him fight harder and faster than he ever had before. Before long, Maya and the rest of the Tracksuits came into the room, having taken care of the rest of The Knives. The leader, knowing when he was beat, ran away.

Kazi was tempted to go after him, but his real priority was getting you out of the musty factory. They made quick work of the chains surrounding the trio, and as soon as Y/n was free, Kazi was by their side. Carefully his hands came up and cupped their face, thumbs ghosting over the scratches and bruises littered across the skin.

“Are you okay?” Kazi’s voice was barely a whisper, all the adrenaline flooding out of him as he realized how close he could’ve been to losing Y/n.

Gently Y/n’s hands came to rest on top of Kazi’s, and they smiled, ignoring the pain in their left cheekbone from what would probably become a black eye. “I’m okay, I promise. Thank you for rescuing me.”

Unable to swallow the lump forming in his throat, Kazi simply nodded. Putting his arm around Y/n’s shoulders, they followed Maya and the rest of the Tracksuits back to their homes. Kazi insisted that Y/n rode in his car, and he did everything to make sure they were comfortable on the way to their apartment.

When Kazi pulled up to his apartment, he noticed that Y/n had fallen asleep. Despite himself, he smiled at their sleeping form. Even after being through that whole ordeal, they looked absolutely adorable to him. Not wanting to wake Y/n, Kazi gathered them into his arms and carried them upstairs. Getting into the door was tricky, but eventually Kazi got himself and Y/n inside and laid them down on his bed. Gently he removed their shoes and then wrapped Y/n in his softest blanket. Seeing that they were still peacefully asleep, Kazi went to his couch and also let sleep take him.

When Kazi woke up, the smell of bacon and eggs greeted him. Eyes bleary, he looked up to see Y/n in the kitchen, bustling around and making breakfast.

“What are you doing?”

Y/n turned around, saw Kazi standing at the kitchen counter, and offered him a warm smile. “Well, you were kind enough to carry me inside and let me sleep in your bed, so I decided I would try to make breakfast to repay the kindness.”

Kazi came to stand next to Y/n, and he took their chin in between his thumb and pointer finger, turning their face to get a good look at it. As expected, they had a black eye, but the cuts and scrapes looked okay and were starting to scab over. “How does that eye feel?”

“A little sore, but I’ll live.” Y/n responded, wincing a little as they slightly winked to test their eye out.

“Did they hurt you badly? Cause if they did I’ll tear them apart limb by limb.” Kazi said, anger burning inside as he thought about The Knives laying a single finger on Y/n.

Y/n placed both their hands on either side of Kazi’s face, making him look in their eyes. “I’m okay, I promise. And I think you already kind of tore them apart. You’re a great boss.” Seeing the look on Kazi’s face, Y/n turned their head in confusion. “What is it.”

“I don’t….” Kazi took a deep breath, preparing himself for the leap he was about to take. “I don’t just want to be your boss. Surely Y/n you must know that. Maybe you’ve seen our flirting as just friendly banter, but I have loved you from the moment you walked into my life. You’ve made me feel happier than I have in a long time, and every day I find myself wanting to give you the world. I think of you all day long and you are who I dream of at night. I love you Y/n, and I have for a long time. And whether or not you reciprocate, after almost losing you last night, I couldn’t be silent anymore. I love you Y/n.”

No words came as Y/n’s reply; instead, they leaned forward and kissed Kazi. Immediately he reciprocated, gently matching the pressure of their lips on his. Kazi closed his eyes, feeling the warmth rush from Y/n’s lips on his throughout his entire body.

Y/n pulled away, but still hovering over Kazi’s lips, they whispered, “And I love you Kazi Kazimierczak.”

That was all he needed to hear; grabbing Y/n’s hips, Kazi pulled them back in and kissed them again. Still being careful of their injuries, this kiss was deeper, more desperate as all the pent up feelings of the past few months came pouring out. Over and over again Kazi and Y/n pressed their lips together, enjoying the feeling of finally touching the other. Kazi grabbed Y/n’s legs, lifting them up onto the counter. Y/n wrapped their legs around Kazi’s waist and tangled their hand in his curls, pulling his head closer to them. Kazi started pressing kisses all over their face, from their nose to their forehead, down to their cheeks, and finally moving to their neck. Over and over Kazi kissed Y/n’s neck, feeling the soft skin and the muscles that moved as they arched their neck to give him better access. Kazi’s fingers dug into Y/n’s hips, desperate to pull them impossibly closer and to feel them under his touch.

Kazi had just pressed his lips back onto Y/n’s when they suddenly pulled away.

“Oh my gosh, do you smell something burning.”

As Kazi tried to bring his focus off of the gorgeous person in front of him, he realized that he also smelled burning. The couple turned around and realized that Y/n’s eggs were still on top of the stove and were now burning.

Quickly Y/n hopped of the counter and took the pan off the stove, turning off the burner so that they didn’t burn the whole apartment down. As Y/n dumped the blackened pan in the sink, Kazi came up behind them and wrapped his arms around them. Kazi buried his face in Y/n’s crook of their neck as they leaned into his touch.

“Just so you know, I’m never letting go of you again.” Kazi mumbled against their shirt.

“Deal.”

Winterhawk Community Sourced Recommendations, A Master List

This post is a long time coming, but finally I’ve finished a master list from when this fandom really helped me out.

The original post is here:

^ Just in case I have forgotten or skipped over a recommendation, or if more are added in the comments since making this post.

My original plea for help was, for context on the type of recommendations you may find (though delightfully, there are others mixed in):

‘I'm looking for Winterhawk fic recommendations.

Ones where Clint finds/meets the WS (as either Hawkeye or an AU Clint, not picky)

Or ones where it is Winterhawk with a Hurt Bucky or Bucky in Distress kind of vibe.

AU or otherwise, even if it is a full on Clint/Bucky AU.’ I also had asked simply for favorite authors and favorite stories. The answers were plentiful and wide spreading, and I’m still making my through (I am a multishipper as long as one of ‘em is Bucky Barnes – welcome to my hyper fixation. So I jump around).

So, in thanks to so many who took time to dig for the recommendations, I wish to spread the love and make it easier to view what others took the time to dig up for me. It really did help. ❤️

I tried to make it easy and may have gone overboard, but hopefully ‘Ctrl-F’ or copy + pasting the text because I typed this out instead of using image snips (oh my gods the time this whole thing took) makes it easier to search tags.

The man released Clint with a grunt of pain, and Clint pressed his advantage, landing another punch to his abdomen, backing him up against the opposite side of the RV and then pressing the kitchen knife he had pocketed while cleaning up earlier to the man’s throat.

That all changes the day Bucky finds himself inside CATastrophe, the local pet rescue, recovering from a panic attack in the back room of the shop. He’s used to walking by the place, not visiting, but the next thing Bucky knows, he’s hanging signs and being used as a climbing tree for a bunch of freshly-acquired kittens. And he just...keeps going back. First for the kittens, then for the disaster shop owner who rescues actual kittens from actual trees and teaches archery as a side-gig, and eventually because he’s hopelessly in love.

Blood was seeping out of a wound on his arm and there was a smear of it down his cheek that was starting to flake off as it dried. He was staring at Clint with a jaw-clenchingly intense glare and Clint felt every cell in his body freeze up under his scrutiny, expecting pain of some kind.

Instead, the Winter Soldier held a fist out containing Clint’s hearing aids and then, once he’d tucked them in pretty much on autopilot, thrust a cat in Clint’s face and growled out, “Tell me about this kitten,” like he was demanding the passwords to a nuclear weapon.

Somehow Clint ends up co-owning a kitten with the Winter Soldier.

“I didn’t think you were,” Clint answers back readily enough. “I mean, I can tell you’re fucked up for sure, but of the two of us, I’m probably the bigger disaster. My sleep schedule is shit, and I drink coffee straight from the pot. I sing in the shower even though I’m deaf as fuck. I have arrows everywhere because I’m an archer — did I tell you that? And I was raised in a literal circus, so I’m not exactly domestic. Let’s see, what else?” He squints down at the ground, rubbing the back of his neck. “Oh, yeah, I won the building in a poker game with the Russian mafia and every once in awhile they show up and try to take it back, but usually I handle it, no problem. Uh...”

Clint happens to looks up and Bucky’s eyes are wide, his mouth hanging open. Clint’s hand freezes where he’s rubbing the back of his neck, suddenly embarrassed. Yeah, when you put it all out there at once, it doesn’t sound so good.

Cap relaxes his hold, but he stays where he is, still looming over him. “Clint. The compound’s been breached,” Rogers whispers urgently, then finally sits back and lets go of him.

There’s another explosion, closer this time and throwing more light. He turns his head sharply and sees Bucky Barnes hovering near the door, looking… off. Clint pushes Rogers and he finally stands up so Clint can scramble out of the bed and grab some clothes. He’s wearing only boxers because it’s fucking hot in Wakanda, and he catches Barnes’ eyes flicking across his body.

Clint long ago stopped being bothered by people’s reactions to the many scars on his body – not that that many people actually see them - but that doesn’t mean he appreciates when they stare. “Like what you see?” he asks with a hard edge as he pulls on his shirt. Barnes turns his head, at least having the decency to look embarrassed for being caught staring.

Rogers looks at them both impatiently and quickly switches gears. “Clint, I need you to take Bucky. Get him out of Wakanda and somewhere safe.”

OR Bucky and Clint fall into each other. Bad shit happens. Then it all works out in the end.

Summary:

Clint Barton has been strung along from abusive relationship to abusive relationship all his life. Not that he would use the word “abusive”. He would argue that, as a sub, he was born to take whatever it is his dom feels like throwing at him.

But then his roommate pulls a Breaking Bad, leaving him caught up in an NYPD investigation, out of his regular work, and scrambling for a place to stay where his demon-cat won’t get them both evicted. Before he knows it, Clint is turning his whole life turned upside down, and Bucky thinks fate shouldn’t be tempting him.

“Whoa,” Clint says. Before he knows it he’s sheathing the knife and grabbing Barnes’ arm, steadying him. Barnes blinks rapidly a few times, wobbling a bit before he seems to find his balance again. His slate-blue gaze, so intent a moment ago, seems a little unfocused.

“When’s the last time you ate? Drank something? Slept?”

“I don’t know,” Barnes says, Clint mouthing the lines along with him.

Christ, Nat is going to kill him when she finds out about this, but there’s nothing else Clint can do.

The Winter Soldier turned himself in to the Avengers, expecting a death sentence or lifetime of imprisonment. Instead, he found absolution and an invitation to join the team. He is still adjusting to life as an Avenger when he meets Clint Barton and his daughter.

The young man that Bucky Barnes used to be was wholeheartedly enthusiastic about meeting his soulmate, but Bucky is not sure there’s a place for him in his soulmate’s life anymore.

Clint has spent his whole life dreading meeting his soulmate, drawing false conclusions from the hurtful words that were spoken in haste. They are both drawn to each other and are willing to give this a try, but will have to work together to overcome the shadows of their past.

“Hey, bird brain, focus. If we’re too late getting back, I can’t pick up Alpine from Kate’s till late tomorrow.” Bucky’s voice is low, while the building should be empty, they aren’t able to watch all the entrances from Clint’s angle on the opposite building. A lot of this relies on the element of surprise and stealth.

"Dude, you just walked past a break room.”

“Are you looking for stray guards, or are you looking for snacks?”

“Both, of course.” Clint scoffs on the open mic. “Wait! Nine o'clock!”

Bucky growls but reaches out and grabs a handful of caramels from a desk and puts them in the breast pocket of his tactical vest.

“You’re the best.”

“Shut up, Barton.”
