I’ve been sick for the past week or so (to which my partner got sick immediately after me) and me and them are orly coded and I am a multishipper before I am a human being so I love the idea of iggy taking care of orlam when he’s sick so much :,)
nothing crazy, just some upper respiratory virus he got from work bc it was that time of the year again at that point
normally orlam would be pretty pissed due to Not Being On The Grind but despite the fact he’s coughing like a dying victorian child, has used up 3 boxes of tissues that DAY blowing his nose (the trash can has been overfilled for the past two hours), and the fact he hasn’t been able to feel his legs for the past 3 hours, he’s pretty content simply because of the case of Pretty Boy Has Been Feeding Him Soup And Medicine All Day
he probably coughs and gives a weak smile like he’s dying in a hospital bed (he’s not)(he’ll be fine in a few days) as iggy brings in more meds and hot chicken noodle soup. “My angel…he’s returned to heal me…” like he’s so CORNY
iggy blushes a tad at being called orlam’s angel (he really doesn’t think he’s doing much? just helping the man he loves when he’s sick). “haha, yeah…” says iggy as if he didn’t just nearly burn the soup on the stove and take their whole apartment with it (their microwave has been busted for like a week and iggy’s ass has been suffering bc it’s usually orlam who cooks but obviously orlam CAN’T rn 😭😭😭)
they do that corny cheeseball thing where iggy stays with orlam in bed while orlam rests and gets Adequate Sleep and in turn, iggy gets sick as well, so it’s orlam’s turn to take care of him (which orlam is INSANELY EXTRA ABOUT BTW. bro gets a dehumidifier, candles, draws iggy a warm bath when the chills set in, orders hot soup from a rlly good place he knows iggy likes nearby and pets iggy’s hair while feeding it to him, always keeps the TV in their room on so netflix shows that iggy likes can always be playing like BRO YOU JUST GOT BETTER CHILL ‼️‼️‼️)(orlam brewbacher when he’s given another chance to spoil the love of his life)
they’re so silly I love orly so much :3 🦅🦅🦅
ohhhhhhh this is soooooo sweet... 🥺💕
i'm such a sucker for the "taking care of sick" trope as it is i will admit alkdjfas so this is extremely cute to me...
i love the dichotomy here. like iggy just desperately trying his best and hoping he's doing it right but anxious he could mess up and orlam will be horrendously offended (and/or die because iggy couldn't take care of him well enough LOL) so is constantly asking for orlam's approval or if he needs anything
whereas orlam is just like completely smooth and suave about it and handles little every tiny little thing and takes complete control and acts like he's done this 50 thousand times hahaha
this is incredibly sweet i love it 💕

House stuff.
When I was doing my chemo, radiation, and surgery the housework really suffered. I didn't have the energy, and at several points it would have been dangerous to have someone to come in and do it. When your treatment is whacking your immune system, and you get sick, it's always more serious. I'm doing a lot better, but it has its ups and downs. My kitchen and bathroom are finally cleaned to my satisfaction, and I am going to take a crack at cleaning the rugs today.
I've been concentrating on the big Out - getting rid of stuff that I don't want to die with in my house. Yes, I am still in remission, but remission is fragile. I want to have things neat and tidy, and good to go in case I need to go back into treatment. I'm not being a pessimist, I'm being a realist. I understand the power of positive thinking, but I also understand that if 20 people were in a room together, and had the type and stage of cancer that I was diagnosed with, only three of us would survive. It's a point I have to make over and over to some people, and I can't even tell you how tired I am of making it.
Sorry, I needed a little rant.
Yesterday was a lot of errands. I had to go pick up my meds for the month, go to the bank, stop at FedEx Office, and then run at Ace Hardware. It was a very long and tiring run, but my Uber driver was super cool. He even went into the hardware store with me.
My building is going back to covid protocols, we have had a lot of sickness in the complex. And I had covid back at the beginning of July. Apparently, there is a new strain to be concerned about. It was the same at the hospital with people being met at the elevators with masks and hand sanitizer. I did find the wrench that I needed, and the part to fix my sink. Our building super is currently hospitalized, and they are trying as much as possible to avoid spreading anything further through the tenants.
Even though my white count is better, it is still in the lowest range of normal. I'm really not up for the risk.
Otherwise, I did order a new steam mop after my old one died, and I really have to say that Bissell makes one hell of a product. Most cleaners just put layer after layer of crap on your floor. That's why when you've been in a place for a while your floors are sticky. I have always used a steam mop ever since they came out. I think this is the best one I've ever had.
I am strong enough now to lift a 4 gallon stock pot, and can easily empty the dehumidifiers. I can do the stairs three times per day, but it's very tiring. Tai chi and resistance bands do help. The lymphedema in my right leg comes and goes, and seems to respond to some kind of inflammation going on. Friday and Saturday were very painful for me, and I had two huge patches of psoriasis. 🐝🐝 Turned me on to using zinc oxide powder, and it makes one hell of a difference in a very short time. I applied it to my hands and the swelling is down a lot today. I think I will mix it into a scalp mask and let it sit while I have my Sunday bubble bath.

Cora Week 2023 - 3 - Season
It’s Cora Week, everyone, so time to celebrate our favorite doomed puppy clown with some fic!
Prior fills: Smile [FFN/AO3] - Gun [FFN/AO3]
580 words; trying to make sense of meteorology and hydrology in One Piece will make someone’s brain implode, so unless we get an explanation later on I’m going with the “fuck it” approach; the reasons Cora knows what he does is actually a huge clue into everything about him and it’s, like, good for him
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Few things were harsh like a North Blue winter.
Bitter cold whipped through the air and stung at Rosinante’s cheeks. It was different than the cold that seeped in through the nights of his childhood, with the thinner air that was artificially dehumidified when the foggy season settled in. No… this was heavy and moist—it had a quality he could only really describe as solid. Winds were more solid at sea-level and it made him chilled down to his bones and then some. Snow was going to move in soon, a warm air current from the West bringing with it all the moisture it could.
“I don’t get it,” Law grumbled in his side. The teen tried to pull the feathered cloak tighter around them, hoping for more warmth against the frigid air. He shouldn’t’ve come out for Rosinante’s cigarette, but the brat insisted.
“What’s not to get? It’s cold.”
“How do we get rain from the West Blue? I thought the Grand Line was in the way.”
Ah. That. “It’s only mostly in the way. The moisture in the air actually travels over what makes the Calm Belts calm and skips a decent portion of the Grand Line, since it has weird weather to begin with and the Calm Belts are actually one giant blanket of calm insulating Grand Line weather from the Blues and vice versa. We share a lot of our air with the West and our water with the East… though there are exceptions.”
“That’s… weird.” Law clung tighter and Rosinante felt bad. He threw the cigarette nub in the ocean and carried the boy back into the rock niche they were currently hunkered down in. They had provisions enough—it was Law’s health that was the most concerning part. “I don’t like weather—it doesn’t make sense.”
“It makes enough sense as anything in the world,” Rosinante shrugged. He sat down and let the kid crawl into his lap and cuddle close—Law doing so without feeling weird about it was a luxury he knew they were only really afforded by his height. “I can tell you how it works, if you want.”
“No thanks; I’ll stick to medicine. That at least makes sense.”
“Then explain, medically, that thing Buffalo ate and how it doesn’t strangle him to death.” A grunt. “See? Can’t fucking do it, can ya?”
“Devil Fruits are variables anyhow.”
“They are, but there’s more to it than that.” Rosinante braced himself as another gust of wind made it into their little sanctuary; maybe there would be enough driftwood around the pile of rocks they were parked on to sustain a fire for a few days. “Hey… when you’re better, let’s go to the East Blue. It’s warmer there.”
“Cora-san… I doubt we’ll find a hospital in time…”
“Nonsense! If we don’t find one here, we’ll go to the Grand Line! There’s an island that’s full of doctors! It’s cold as balls, and we’ll have to make sure we take the correct path, but they’ll help you if no one in this fucking sea can get their heads out of their asses! Only a little bit more time, Law… you’ll see.”
“Sure…” The teen burrowed further into the feathered cloak and whimpered in pain, hoping that the adult did not hear. Rosinante simply hugged the boy a bit tighter, hoping that he would be wrong about one thing in that the new day would bring at least a break in weather.

ack it sounds like you had a crazy day 🥴
Honestly? Yesterday wasn't so bad in the scheme of the last... month? two months? Honestly bar 'I don't have the help I need' problem it was fine up until a time which was technically today when housemate handed me my post. It just keeps going.
I'm just really hoping I do actually go for my night away at the end of the month, because I extremely need the break.
Below follows a rant.
In the post was a letter from the hospital which /sounded/ like a discharge letter. I have not had the test the doctor wanted done yet, only a different test I'd previously had done but was told I had to redo to be allowed the new one as it'd been a year. The pre-test test picked up a /different/ thing to what I was seeing him about and he seems to have assumed that was the entire problem. I know its different - I have two unique symptom sets one of which is multiple times a day which is annoying but livable (the one which happened while I had the monitor) and one of which barely happens but had a friend who saw me 2 hours after offering to take me to the hospital. -_- First point is ring the GP (I think you call them family doctors) as the specialist said he wanted the GP to give me meds anyway but the ones the specialist listed interact with my other meds so I need to talk about it, and at that appointment ask if the GP knows what's going on, and hopefully prompt /them/ to bug the specialist about what's going on. Because what I was told at the appointment and what is in the letter are two completely different and contradictory things and I just hope /someone/ knows what is going on.
This of course does not account for the fact I've been struggling for the last week because of carer shenanigans. Its 10 days without because COVID periods. I'm on day... 7? Now
Two weeks ago tomorrow the piping fell out the sink and ended up with half an inch of hot water on the floor.
There's a mystery new wet spot in the hallway floor in the middle with no other indication of damage. Landlady keeps saying apply the ddehumidifier. We keep doing that. It's just getting worse. It is almost certainly a burst pipe or something in the foundations. She is ignoring us and just telling us to dehumidifier. This has been happening for over a year with another patch around a corner and against a wall.
Honestly can't remember what else. But I know before the pipe something else was wrong, the pipe just outshone it, and there are other things too.
There's about 8 other things which can best be described as 'the health service is chronically underfunded and understaffed thanks to the government both refusing to give it the money it needs and also being xenophobic and putting the minimum income for immigrants to get a visa - or even for a local citizen to have their spouse enter the country - above the pay or every nurse and almost all doctors and this means more people are more rushed', especially with covid wrecking people's health and suddenly loads more cardiac and neurology patients from the long term damage'. A problem only exasperated by COVID.
Add in that they changed the system so I can't book my injections in advance and so I miss them because the first symptom I get when I start running low is an inability to remember things or comprehend dates and I'm having fun! The potential complications from not getting it on time, with a buffer of only about a week as I'm a particularly bad case, only include heart attacks and brain damage but I'm already disabled and can't work so its fine, right? (sarcasm. so so much sarcasm here) (my carers are /trying/ to keep on top of it, but it isn't really working)
#ask and answer#sweet skye#sorry for the rant#hid it so you don't need to see it no worries if not in a place for it

Temporary vs. Permanent Dehumidification Solutions: What You Need to Know
In various environments, maintaining optimal humidity levels is crucial for preserving the integrity of materials and ensuring the comfort of occupants. When faced with excess moisture, businesses and homeowners often find themselves at a crossroads: should they opt for temporary or permanent dehumidification solutions? This article delves into the key differences between these two options, focusing on the advantages of dehumidification rental and how it can effectively address short-term needs while providing flexibility for long-term strategies.
Understanding the Basics of Dehumidification
Before diving into the specifics, it’s essential to grasp the fundamental concepts of dehumidification. Dehumidifiers are devices designed to remove moisture from the air, thereby reducing humidity levels. High humidity can lead to a host of problems, including mould growth, structural damage, and discomfort for building occupants. Whether in residential settings or commercial buildings, controlling humidity is vital for health and safety.
Temporary dehumidification solutions typically involve renting equipment for short-term use, while permanent solutions involve installing fixed systems designed for long-term operation. Each approach carries its own set of benefits and considerations, making it essential to evaluate the specific needs of your environment.
The Case for Temporary Dehumidification Solutions
Temporary dehumidification rental offers numerous advantages, particularly for businesses or individuals experiencing acute moisture issues. One primary benefit is the immediate availability of high-quality equipment. Companies like Andrews Sykes provide a comprehensive range of dehumidifiers for hire, ensuring that customers can access the right units tailored to their unique situations.
For instance, consider a construction site facing delays due to unexpected rainfall. Renting dehumidifiers can help accelerate the drying process of materials, allowing work to resume promptly. Additionally, temporary solutions are often more cost-effective, allowing users to avoid the upfront costs associated with purchasing equipment that may only be needed for a limited time. This flexibility can be invaluable for businesses managing tight budgets or unexpected challenges.
Benefits of Permanent Dehumidification Solutions
While temporary rentals provide immediate relief, there are scenarios where investing in a permanent dehumidification system may be more appropriate. Permanent systems are designed for continuous operation and are often integrated into HVAC systems, providing a constant solution for humidity control.
For larger facilities, such as hospitals or manufacturing plants, a permanent dehumidification system may be necessary to maintain optimal conditions year-round. These systems can be more energy-efficient in the long run, providing consistent humidity control without the need for frequent equipment changes. However, the initial investment can be substantial, and maintenance costs should also be considered.
Key Considerations: When to Choose Temporary or Permanent Solutions
Deciding between temporary and permanent dehumidification solutions hinges on various factors, including the duration of the moisture problem, budget constraints, and specific environmental needs. Temporary dehumidification rental is ideal for situations such as:
Emergency Response: If a flood or leak occurs, immediate action is crucial. Renting dehumidifiers can help mitigate damage while permanent solutions are assessed or installed.
Seasonal Issues: In areas prone to seasonal humidity fluctuations, renting equipment during peak seasons can save costs and provide flexibility.
Construction Projects: As mentioned earlier, construction sites often require temporary dehumidification to ensure materials dry correctly and work proceeds on schedule.
On the other hand, permanent solutions may be more suitable for:
Long-Term Humidity Control: Facilities with ongoing moisture issues or specific requirements for climate control may benefit from a fixed installation.
Consistent Usage: Businesses that require continuous humidity monitoring and control, such as server rooms or laboratories, may find permanent systems more effective.
Combining Both Approaches for Optimal Results
In some cases, businesses and homeowners may find that a combination of temporary and permanent solutions works best. For example, a warehouse may benefit from a permanent dehumidification system for regular operations while renting additional units during particularly humid months or following unexpected water damage. This hybrid approach ensures that environments remain comfortable and safe, no matter the circumstances.
When it comes to managing humidity, understanding the differences between temporary and permanent dehumidification solutions is crucial for making informed decisions. Dehumidification rental offers immediate relief and flexibility, making it an attractive choice for various short-term scenarios. Conversely, permanent systems provide consistent control for long-term needs but require a more significant investment.
For those currently facing humidity challenges, Andrews Sykes stands ready to provide tailored dehumidification rental solutions. By assessing your specific requirements and understanding the benefits of both temporary and permanent options, you can ensure that your environment remains healthy, safe, and comfortable, regardless of the circumstances. Don't hesitate to explore the available solutions and take the necessary steps to manage humidity effectively.

How Humidity Affects House Cleaning in Zephyrhills, FL
Living in Zephyrhills, FL, comes with its perks: sunshine, beautiful scenery, and a warm climate. However, one challenge that residents frequently face is dealing with Florida's high humidity levels. The persistent moisture in the air can significantly affect the cleanliness and upkeep of homes, making it essential to adapt cleaning methods accordingly. Here's a closer look at how humidity impacts house cleaning in Zephyrhills and tips to tackle these challenges effectively.
1. Promotes Mold and Mildew Growth
Humidity creates the perfect environment for mold and mildew to thrive, especially in areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements. These fungi not only cause unsightly stains but also produce unpleasant odors and can lead to health issues like allergies and respiratory problems.
Cleaning Tip: Regularly scrub surfaces prone to mold with a mixture of vinegar and water. Ensure proper ventilation by using exhaust fans or dehumidifiers to reduce moisture levels.
2. Increases Dust Mite Activity
Dust mites are microscopic creatures that thrive in humid conditions. They can settle in upholstery, carpets, and bedding, contributing to indoor allergies and asthma symptoms.
Cleaning Tip: Wash bedding frequently in hot water and vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture with a HEPA filter vacuum to minimize dust mite activity. Consider using hypoallergenic mattress and pillow covers for added protection.
3. Creates Sticky Surfaces
Excess humidity can make surfaces, especially in the kitchen, feel sticky due to moisture buildup combined with dust and grease. This can make cleaning more labor-intensive and require more frequent attention.
Cleaning Tip: Wipe down surfaces regularly with a damp microfiber cloth to remove grime. Use an all-purpose cleaner to tackle grease buildup effectively.
4. Causes Wood to Warp or Swell
High humidity can lead to wood furniture, flooring, and cabinetry warping or swelling over time. Moisture seeps into the wood, causing structural changes that may be irreversible if not addressed promptly.
Cleaning Tip: Use a wood-specific cleaner and polish to maintain furniture. Keep your home’s humidity levels in check by running air conditioners or dehumidifiers, especially during the summer months.
5. Encourages Musty Odors
A consistently humid environment can lead to a musty smell that’s hard to eliminate, especially in areas with poor ventilation or excessive moisture, like closets or storage spaces.
Cleaning Tip: Regularly clean and air out enclosed spaces. Use baking soda or activated charcoal to absorb odors. Consider placing silica gel packets in closets and storage areas to control moisture.
6. Impacts Cleaning Products’ Effectiveness
Humidity can affect the performance of certain cleaning products. For instance, cleaners may take longer to dry, which can result in streaks or residue being left behind on surfaces like glass and mirrors.
Cleaning Tip: Use quick-drying or alcohol-based cleaning products for glass and mirrors. Clean during cooler parts of the day when humidity levels are slightly lower.
7. Accelerates Metal Corrosion
Humidity can cause metal fixtures, such as faucets, door handles, and appliances, to corrode or tarnish more quickly.
Cleaning Tip: Regularly wipe down metal surfaces with a dry cloth and apply a protective coating, such as metal polish, to prevent moisture damage.
Preventative Measures to Combat Humidity
In addition to targeted cleaning strategies, here are some preventative steps you can take to reduce the impact of humidity on your home:
Use a Dehumidifier: Keep your home’s humidity levels between 30-50% to create a less hospitable environment for mold, dust mites, and other moisture-related issues.
Improve Ventilation: Open windows when weather permits and use exhaust fans in high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
Seal Leaks: Inspect your home for leaks around windows, doors, and plumbing fixtures to prevent excess moisture from entering your living spaces.
Schedule Regular Cleaning Services: Hiring professional cleaners in Zephyrhills, FL, ensures that your home is deep cleaned and well-maintained, even in the face of high humidity challenges.
Final Thoughts
While Florida’s humidity is a fact of life for Zephyrhills residents, understanding its effects on house cleaning can help you take proactive steps to maintain a clean and healthy home. By adopting humidity-specific cleaning techniques and preventative measures, you can protect your home’s surfaces, improve indoor air quality, and reduce the time and effort spent battling the effects of moisture.
If you need help keeping your home spotless despite the challenges of humidity, consider reaching out to a professional house cleaning service in Zephyrhills, FL. With their expertise, you can enjoy a fresh, clean home all year round!

A Complete Guide on How to Maintain and Care for Solid Timber Table Tops
Elegant solid timber table tops are a timeless addition to any home, cafe or restaurant. This offers both durability and aesthetic appeal. However, to maintain their pristine condition, a little effort is required along with the right techniques. With optimal care, these pieces can last through generations. This blog delves into the maintenance and care tips and techniques for solid timber table tops.
1. Regular Cleaning
It is essential to clean timber table tops regularly within the stipulated period. Use a soft, damp cloth to dust, and remove crumbs and spills. It is also important not to wet the table with water because it ends up causing damage to the wood. For more intensive cleaning, use a pH-neutral wood cleaner that should be applied in warm water. It is also important not to leave a wet surface for long; so always dry it with a clean cloth.
2. Protect the Surface
Wood is a material that absorbs features of the environment, which is why it needs protection. Coasters, placemats and trivets should be employed to protect the surface from hot plates, glasses and spills. Do not put a wet or hot item on the table to prevent warping, discolouration and other heat marks.
If your table is placed outdoo, it is advisable to cover the table, either with a tablecloth or a specific cover since high-intensity UV light has the effect of causing the wood to bleach.
3. Oil or Wax Regularly
For the timber to be nourished and appear healthy, using furniture oil or wax every 3- 6 months is recommended. It also improves the natural grain and offers it an added layer that helps to prevent stains and scrapes. Select the best quality product ideal for your type of timber and apply as per instructions given on the product.
4. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Avoid using products containing steel, brass, bleed or ammonia, as they corrode the protective coat and the wood finishes. Do not rub the areas with the spills more often as this will cause the surface to scratch. Let it be a gentle cleaner only if it is meant for timber furniture and other related wooden accessories.
5. Monitor Humidity Levels
A strong feature of solid timber is its ability to swell and shrink when relative humidity inside a room increases or drops. When it comes to preventing cracks or warping at home then try to keep indoor humidity levels constant. Consider using a dehumidifier during humid summers or a humidifier during dry winters, especially in areas prone to extreme weather conditions.
6. Repair Scratches and Stains
Rarely bumps and stains appear on it and it can be removed easily without too much effort. To remedy a light scratch, apply a wood repair crayon or marker of an appropriate colour to cover the scratch. For deeper scratches, the area has to be sanded using fine-grit sandpaper then the oil or wax reapplied to match the finish.
7. Rotate Usage Areas
In case you place stuff on your timber table often, be sure to interchange things like vases or other items to avoid staining or fading in some areas. This prevents the table from developing an aged look from one side spreading to the other side and making the table look new again.
Final Words
Beautiful and elegant solid timber table tops are a long-term investment that will add value to any room’s decor with their sheer simplicity and beauty. With regular washing, guarding, and maintenance, they will keep on being showpieces in your household or place of work. For any homeowner or cafe owner in Australia, it is important to adopt these maintenance practices to keep the table durable as it adds charm and character to the furniture.

Health and Hygiene: Deep cleaning helps remove allergens, dust, and bacteria, promoting a healthier living or working environment.
Enhanced Appearance: A thorough clean can make spaces look brighter, fresher, and more organized.
Extended Lifespan of Surfaces and Appliances: Removing dirt and grime helps reduce wear and tear, prolonging the life of appliances and surfaces.
Comfort and Productivity: Cleaner spaces contribute to improved mood, better focus, and higher productivity.
Prevention of Allergies and Illness: Regular deep cleaning reduces the risk of allergies and illnesses caused by mold, bacteria, and dust mites.
Who Can Benefit from Deep Cleaning Services?
Homeowners: For those who want a cleaner, healthier home environment.
Businesses: Deep cleaning is especially important for offices, retail spaces, restaurants, and other commercial properties to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
Healthcare Facilities: Hospitals, clinics, and other medical settings require deep cleaning to ensure infection control and patient safety.

Are Dehumidifiers Actually Good for Your Health?
Have you ever noticed that the more humid it is outside, the more likely you are to experience itchy eyes, a runny nose, and a scratchy throat? The relationship between humidity and allergens—any substance that induces an allergy—is complicated, but we have learned quite a bit over the years about just how these seemingly unrelated concepts intermingle.
By utilizing technology that allows us to control humidity levels inside our homes, we're already taking a crucial step toward alleviating bothersome allergy symptoms.
In this article, we're going to take an evidence-based approach in exploring how humidity affects the number of allergens in your home as well as how humidity plays into the frequency and severity of allergy-related symptoms and conditions. Along the way, we'll provide some recommendations on how you can make your living space allergen free.
What is the main source of household allergens?
One of the most pivotal moments in the history of allergy control occurred back in 1967 when Professor Reindert Voorhorst of University Hospital, Leiden (now Leiden University Medical Centre) and his colleagues discovered dust mites were the primary allergic source in ordinary house dust (Voorhorst et al. 1967). Over the next several years, scientists noticed that dust mites had an undeniable preference for damp, muggy air.
Why would dust mites prefer humid air?
Under closer inspection, the miniature bodies of dust mites are actually made up of about 75% water, with their survival highly dependent on maintaining this high water content. In order to achieve this, dust mites absorb water vapor from the air (Arlian 1992).
