do you ever think about how all you used to draw when you were 10 was ponies and that you should still know how to do that, then get an idea and proceed to draw something like these in nearly one sitting and it turns out better than any drawing you've done in the entire past month
sooo anyway does anyone have cutie mark or pony name ideas for them?? lol
#(the b girl lineups are older than a month because i procrastinated a lot on doing minor fixes. nothing i drew in the month of june 2024#is really worth showing it's all shitty doodles lmao)#bnha#class 1b#mlp#?#yui kodai#setsuna tokage#itsuka kendo#ibara shiozaki#(i love how she came out in particular! creature :3)#reiko yanagi#tikto's art#you may be wondering why pony of all people isn't here.#i did draw her! but i kind of ran out of steam so i ended up not really liking the result lol same for kinoko#anyway shoutout to elementary school me i was SO obsessed with mlp. brony stuff was one of the first things i used the internet for#and you know what. i wouldn't say it ruined me it was a pleasant experience#i just read what was basically a polish version of equestria daily and constantly checked the deviantart profile of one (1) specific artist#that i liked a lot#i did watch some weird speedpaints (yknow the horror ones) but i honestly dont remember being very bothered by them i just liked the art#i was just chilling there lurking and never actively participating due to being 10 and afraid of online strangers (good for me tbh)#i remember having an identity crisis though because can i really call myself a brony if i'm a little girl? the target audience of the show?#lmao anyway i would also draw ponies constantly and write oc fanfics (and the ocs were actually my irl friends ponified)#and i even had my own little g5 concept. good times good times#tag story time over god bless enjoy your day

Ever since I was prescribed my Ativan, I’ve been too afraid to even take it which is ironic considering it’s… anxiety medicine…
#personal#It’s a combination of me being afraid it won’t work and also the horror stories I’ve read online of dependency/addiction.#Which I know I shouldn’t go and Google shit but unfortunately I can’t.#Knowing it’s there in my bag helps me feel a bit better just from that fact alone.

me: *throws away an entire session or two worth of DnD prep to instead prepare for the entirely different path my players picked last minute*
me: am I railroading my players??
#i think i need to stop reading dnd horror stories online#i feel like i'm heading straight into burnout by expecting myself to present my players with a complex open-world sandbox#in order to not railroad their story#but i also want to tell that story like i'm playing the game too#someone slap the imposter syndrome out of me please

I've never seen a cough transcribed in this way, but I suppose it works??
#personal#something i will now think about when coughing#this is from the cask of amontillado by poe btw#i want to organise a little halloween contest at work where i quiz people on three scary short stories#and i'm looking for stories that are not too gruesome while still being a bit spooky#i also need them to be in the public domain/legally and easily accessible for free online#the two stories i decided on so far are the lottery by jackson and oh whistle and i'll come by m. r. james#(side note i really enjoyed the james story but i don't get why it's on so many best scary stories lists - it has a lot of goofy parts#and i can't get over the audacity of starting a story with a piece of dialogue followed by 'said a person not in the story')#(the whole thing feels so tongue in cheek/horror comedy-esque to me that the genuine fear it seems to elicit in people confuses me)#(side note side note i suddenly can't stop reading m. r. [em ar] james as mister james 😞)

LIGHT NOVEL DROP!!
I took a leap of faith and posted the first chapter of my light novel, "Fated for the Guillotine." It's about an arranged marriage, a cursed forest and a slow burning romance interlaced with ancient magical horrors!
-------
Available to read for free on Honeyfeed: https://www.honeyfeed.fm/novels/16384 -------
Synopsis:
As the future heir of the Golden Wood, Lady Ashwood Fletchlocke is bound by birth to protect it's wild magic. Outsiders only ever saw the blessings it gave its people, the bountiful harvests and miraculous healing abilities of those born within its borders. They never see the curses they have to endure, the ways this ancient magic twists throughout the blood and bone of its people until eventually they too become part of the wood.
Guarding her heart from suitors of all sorts, Lady Ashwood decided years ago that she would only ever marry someone who understood both sides of that ancient magic. Her father, loathe to deny any request his beloved daughter made, wholeheartedly agreed.
But when her father goes missing and a marriage contract is forced upon her by the king himself, binding her to his adopted son, she vows to never let her new partner into her life.
But is her new husband truly her enemy? Or is there something worse lurking within the shadows of the Golden Wood?

The Evolution of Short Horror Stories: From Paperbacks to Online Platforms

Horror has always been a beloved genre for those seeking thrills and chills. Whether it’s ghostly tales told around a campfire or spine-tingling stories printed on crisp paper, horror has evolved alongside humanity's storytelling traditions. In today’s digital age, short horror stories have made a monumental leap from classic paperbacks to diverse online platforms, offering more accessibility and variety than ever before.
Let’s explore this fascinating journey and uncover what makes these bite-sized terrors so popular today.
The Early Days of Short Horror Stories
Origins of the Genre
The roots of short horror stories trace back to the 19th century, with early masters like Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne crafting chilling tales that captured readers’ imaginations. These stories were often published in literary magazines and anthologies, catering to readers who craved compact, suspenseful narratives.
The Rise of Paperbacks
By the mid-20th century, the genre found its home in paperback anthologies, which brought these macabre tales to a wider audience. Collections like Tales of Terror or Alfred Hitchcock Presents became staples for horror enthusiasts. These paperbacks were affordable and portable, making them perfect companions for those seeking a quick thrill.
The Digital Revolution: Short Horror Stories Go Online
Early Online Horror Communities
As the internet emerged, horror stories found new life on digital platforms. Websites like Creepypasta and Reddit’s r/NoSleep allowed users to share eerie narratives with global audiences. These platforms democratized storytelling, giving aspiring writers a chance to showcase their creativity.
Digital Publishing Platforms
The rise of e-books and apps like Wattpad revolutionized how short horror stories were shared. Now, you could carry an entire library of hair-raising tales in your pocket. Specialized horror apps like Hooked added another layer, offering suspenseful, text-message-style stories that felt intensely personal.
Paperbacks vs. Online Platforms: A Comparison
Accessibility
While paperbacks require trips to the bookstore, online platforms provide instant access to countless stories with a few taps on your device. This convenience has made horror more accessible to modern readers.
Interactivity
Unlike traditional paperbacks, online horror platforms allow for real-time interaction. Readers can comment on stories, share their reactions, or even contribute to collaborative tales, creating a more immersive experience.
Formats and Trends
From long, descriptive paperbacks to concise, multimedia-enhanced online tales, the evolution of short horror reflects shifting reader preferences. Online platforms cater to our shorter attention spans, delivering scares quickly and efficiently.
Why Online Short Horror Stories Are Gaining Popularity?
Convenience for Busy ReadersWith the hustle and bustle of modern life, many readers prefer shorter, easily digestible content. Online horror stories fit perfectly into small windows of time, like during commutes or coffee breaks.
Diverse OptionsOnline platforms offer a vast array of genres and styles, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Whether you enjoy supernatural hauntings or psychological thrillers, you’ll find a story tailored to your taste.
Community EngagementPlatforms like Reddit and Wattpad encourage community interaction. Sharing your thoughts or discussing your favorite twists with fellow horror fans adds a social element to the reading experience.
Challenges in the Digital Era
While online platforms have broadened the reach of great horror short stories, they’ve also introduced challenges:
Oversaturation of Content: With so many stories available, it can be hard to separate high-quality tales from mediocre ones.
Copyright Issues: Digital stories are often shared widely, leading to concerns about plagiarism and unauthorized use.
Impact on Print Media: The rise of online horror has contributed to a decline in traditional book sales, posing challenges for publishers.
The Future of Short Horror Stories
The future of horror storytelling looks exciting, blending creativity with technology:
Interactive Horror Experiences: Apps and websites are incorporating visuals, sound effects, and even gamified elements to create more immersive stories.
AI-Generated Horror: Tools powered by artificial intelligence are helping writers craft chilling narratives faster and with greater complexity.
Hybrid Formats: Innovations like augmented reality (AR) are merging physical books with digital enhancements, offering unique experiences for readers.
Conclusion
The evolution of short horror stories—from paperbacks to online platforms—illustrates how the genre has adapted to meet the needs of modern readers. Today, anyone with a smartphone can access a world of spine-chilling tales, making it easier than ever to enjoy this timeless genre.
If you’re a fan of short horror stories, now is the perfect time to explore the vast online options. Whether you prefer classic chills or modern twists, there’s something out there to send shivers down your spine.

Flash Fiction: Behind Tall Weeds
Every morning, as she jogs her usual route on the grassy trail at the back of the park, she is never alone. A large shadow moves with her, keeping pace, keeping a thin wall of tall, golden weeds between them. The shadow is lithe and quiet, seemingly content on a path of its own. And on this trail, when she encounters a man who means to do her harm, he doesn’t stand a chance. —- Are you…

[Toon x Mobster] The man and the ghost. Another side characters!! I'm gonna be spending some time drawing some of 'em since the world/story is expanding.
These two were inspired by two of my favorite novels, My Iyashikei Game and My House of Horrors! (Please go read them :)
Hugo Marshall is a unemployed man who rented a cheap apartment rumored to be haunted because of his piss poor finances after he got let go from his job. He didn't believe the rumors until he moved in and was scared by the lady inside the apartment with him!
After a bit of digging online and from asking neighbors/nearby residents, he discovered that Lady Red had been murdered in this very same apartment and was now haunting it, her soul tainted with resentment and unable to pass away peacefully.
He felt sad about her story and wanted to help her out, but he was also doing everything he can to stay in the apartment without her killing him because he really didn't have anywhere else to go.
Eventually, the man's sincerity to help began to rub off on Lady Red and she grew to rely on him to investigate her death, in order for her to take the souls of the ones who put her in this miserable situation.
Hugo Marshall was flattered and charmed that she decided to trust him, and this was the mark of their relationship progressing into something romantic.

on the other hand it pisses me off when things like reddit nosleep have/had rules about "every comment has to be in character!!" well what if i want to say both. it doesnt ruin the immersion for me i know im watching/reading something fake. sometimes i want to pretend its real and then also go "oh and by the way this was written really well." i think i should get to say both
#rio rambles#sorry i dont even look at nosleep anymore because most of its just not what i want to read . but i used to like it#and online horror stories. .....they make me soooo paranoid
