There needs to be more of a culture in Christianity of openly denouncing false prophets by name. Some of these people have millions of followers but all I ever see are polite criticisms of a general type of false prophet without any names.

We need Christian leaders who will go into these liars "ministries" and start flipping tables because they are misleading and destroying the faith of millions. People are so worried about denouncing false prophets just in case they are really from God...but for every Jeremiah there are 20 liars telling you the opposite.

I keep trying to find other people renouncing scumbag liars like Julie Green, who uses surface level conspiracy knowledge to claim God is showing her things happening behind the scenes, when all she's doing is watching alt news. She figured out conspiracists knew something other people in the mainstream don't know or talk about so she reports stuff like what people like me talk about to boomers and pretends God is giving his prophetic insight. Or she'll make prophecies so vague and impossible to be wrong that it makes a horoscope look cutting and specific.

Her other smokescreen is that she's hardcore in the tank for the GOP so most criticisms leveled at her are political and attack her for her right wing views...so then all legitimate criticism gets dismissed by her followers as democrat propaganda.

This woman predicted that 5 different politicians would die in 2022 and all of them are still alive, she keeps predicting the complete downfall of the deep state she's made prediction after prediction that never come true which is amazing considering how vague most of her predictions are. I don't even believe she's even a Christian nevermind a prophet, she seems to be applying a qanon type of psy op against Christians, although instead of telling them to sit back and do nothing because Trump is going to come in and fix everything they say God is going to swoop in and fix everything...and also Trump will too. Oh yeah she predicted Trump would be president in 2020 and even today her followers are waiting for Biden to be removed and Trump installed.

Then these prophets all copy each others predictions and pretend like they don't listen to each other, so people take hearing it multiple times as confirmation.

The Bible says that anyone who claims to speak for God but does not deserves to die. That's how serious we should be taking these people and there are a lot of them and some of them have massive followings. This would not be the case if more leaders grew a spine and showed some righteous anger and openly denounced these vile false prophets.

Honestly at this point I would advise people to not listen to any preacher who's on tv or the radio I think they're all full of shit. If they weren't liars and they were actually preaching the word of God they wouldn't be allowed to have the platforms they do.

Currently we are surrounded by stressors such as climate change and, recently, the Covid-19 pandemic, which makes the topic pertinent. Though embracing astrology might seem innocent, it is nonetheless possible that it facilitates uncritical thinking and favours biases. Further, belief in astrology correlates with belief in multiple other pseudosciences as well as with belief in conspiracy theories (Bensley et al., 2020) which indicates that it might not be all that harmless.

The most accepted theory regarding individual differences is the five factors of personality traits (also known as Big Five); openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (Costa & McCrae, 1992). Openness is usually positively associated with belief in the paranormal (Chauvin & Mullet, 2021), as well as apophenia (Blain et al., 2020). Conscientiousness may be the personality trait with the least connection to pseudoscientific beliefs, and weak negative correlations have been reported (Chauvin & Mullet, 2021). Extraversion too has been shown to be related to belief in the paranormal (Thalbourne & Haraldsson, 1980), whereas agreeableness in earlier studies has correlated both positively (Čavojová et al., 2020) and negatively (Swami et al., 2009) with belief in conspiracy theories. At last, neuroticism has been found to correlate positively with paranormal beliefs (Thalbourne & Haraldsson, 1980).

Though the dimensions of the Big Five are valuable when studying individual differences, there are additional so-called dark traits (cf. Kajonius et al., 2015). One dark trait in particular seems relevant in relation to belief in astrology, namely narcissism, due to the self-focused perspective that may be at the core of both phenomena.

In addition to personality traits, intelligence is commonly used in studies of individual differences. Particularly openness has proved to correlate with intelligence measures (DeYoung et al., 2014). In general, intelligence is thought to be negatively related to the acceptance of pseudoscience and paranormal beliefs (Musch & Ehrenberg, 2002), as well as with apophenia (Blain et al., 2020).

The present study aim was to investigate how individual differences relate to belief in astrology. The main result showed that the higher the narcissism, perhaps surprisingly, the higher the belief in astrology. The positive association is possibly due to the self-centred worldview uniting them, though this must be examined in further research. Furthermore, cultural aspects of millennials may emphasize the uniqueness of individuals which might lead to a more egocentric view of the world, and thus relate to narcissistic traits. Further, since astrological predictions and horoscopes tend to be positively framed, this reinforces grandiose feelings and thus might appeal even more to narcissists. Note that narcissistic traits correlated with the belief that astrology is supported by science (Table 1), which leads to a speculation that narcissists may generally be more fact resistant.

Other interesting findings was that the higher the level of intelligence, the lower the belief in astrology (see Musch & Ehrenberg, 2002), as well as that agreeable people tend to report believing in astrology more. Seeing how most personality predictors were small in magnitude, this leaves room for many other variables influencing belief in astrology. Speculatively, additional predictors could be cohort-effects, educational levels, occupations, and others.

Our aim with the present study was to contribute to an increased understanding of individual differences and unfounded epistemic beliefs, such as belief in astrology. The results showed interestingly that narcissism was the strongest predictor of belief in astrology: Even the stars think I am superior.”

“Interest in the topic of celebrity worshipers spans almost two decades. In the study, 1,763 Hungarian adults completed a 30-word vocabulary test and a digit symbol substitution test, a validated assessment of fluid intelligence. The researchers also collected data about the participants’ self-esteem, current family income, material wealth, and highest level of education.

Celebrity worship was measured using a scientific questionnaire known as the Celebrity Attitude Scale. The scale asks participants the extent to which they agree or disagree with statements such as “I often feel compelled to learn the personal habits of my favorite celebrity,” “I am obsessed by details of my favorite celebrity’s life,” and “If I were lucky enough to meet my favorite celebrity, and he/she asked me to do something illegal as a favor I would probably do it.”

Even after controlling for demographic and socioeconomic variables, the researchers found that high scores on the Celebrity Attitude Scale were associated with lower performance on the two cognitive ability tests.

“We found a weak tendency for those who showed the strongest admiration for their favorite celebrity to have lower cognitive skills, suggesting that the earlier results were not due just to chance,” the authors of the study said. “Our results also support previous findings showing that excessive behaviors such as celebrity worshiping can possibly impair cognitive functioning, presumably due to the increased focus and energy invested in this behavior that becomes dominant in the individual’s life.”

“Although celebrity admiration seems not to be a strong precursor of poorer cognitive performance, high levels of admiration can be regarded as one contributing factor to lowered performance in tasks requiring cognitive effort, independently from education or age.”

But it is unclear whether celebrity worship is the cause or consequence of reduced cognitive ability. For example, it “may be that individuals with higher levels of cognitive skills are more likely to understand the marketing strategies behind a famous person,” and thus less vulnerable to celebrity worship, the researchers explained. But it is also possible that celebrity worship functions like an addictive behavior and requires cognitive effort to be maintained.”

“Polls certainly indicate a decline in religious affiliation, practice and belief. Just a couple of decades ago, about 95 percent of Americans reported belonging to a religious group. This number is now around 75 percent. And far fewer are actively religious: The percentage of regular churchgoers may be as low as 15 to 20 percent. As for religious belief, the Pew Research Center found that from 2007 to 2014 the percentage of Americans who reported being absolutely confident God exists dropped from 71 percent to 63 percent.

Furthermore, evidence suggests that the religious mind persists even when we lose faith in traditional religious beliefs and institutions. Consider that roughly 30 percent of Americans report they have felt in contact with someone who has died. Nearly 20 percent believe they have been in the presence of a ghost. About one-third of Americans believe that ghosts exist and can interact with and harm humans; around two-thirds hold supernatural or paranormal beliefs of some kind, including beliefs in reincarnation, spiritual energy and psychic powers.

These numbers are much higher than they were in previous decades, when more people reported being highly religious. People who do not frequently attend church are twice as likely to believe in ghosts as those who are regular churchgoers. The less religious people are, the more likely they are to endorse empirically unsupported ideas about U.F.O.s, intelligent aliens monitoring the lives of humans and related conspiracies about a government cover-up of these phenomena.

An emerging body of research supports the thesis that these interests in nontraditional supernatural and paranormal phenomena are driven by the same cognitive processes and motives that inspire religion. For instance, my colleagues and I recently published a series of studies in the journal Motivation and Emotion demonstrating that the link between low religiosity and belief in advanced alien visitors is at least partly explained by the pursuit of meaning. The less religious participants were, we found, the less they perceived their lives as meaningful. This lack of meaning was associated with a desire to find meaning, which in turn was associated with belief in U.F.O.s and alien visitors.

It is important to note that thus far, research indicates only that the need for meaning inspires these types of paranormal beliefs, not that such beliefs actually do a good job of providing meaning. There are reasons to suspect they are poor substitutes for religion: They are not part of a well-established social and institutional support system and they lack a deeper and historically rich philosophy of meaning. Now that it’s baseball season, I will break baseball fans into two camps.  Those that love the Yankees and those that hate them.  I’ll leave it to you to divine my camp by the following words.  A 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook New York City on Friday as the Yankees went through batting practice before their home opener.  A solar eclipse is forecast to take place Monday afternoon, with parts of upstate New York being in its path of totality, the Yankees will play after this other phenomenon.  Coincidence?  People Magazine’s resident astrologer, Kyle Thomas, prognosticated that this phenomenon “is all about Uranus in Taurus" — which he also says is "building to the big, ferocious beast that's coming around April 20."  Those in the “love the Yankees” camp will undoubtedly know that on 4/20, the Yankees will host the Tampa Bay Rays.  What else, Tom?  In addition to a meaningless early season game, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction stars on April 20. These planets conjunct approximately once every 14 years.  If two planets are very close together, or even in the same place in the sky, their energies will merge, and we will likely feel effects as a result a conjunction.  This is a little like a The Bachelor and America’s Got Talent cross-over episode – very rare, but very powerful!  Jupiter, the planet of luck, will unite with Uranus, the planet of surprises, on April 20 in the fields of Taurus. "This could bring shocking twists of fate, major breakthroughs or breakdowns or wild events to our doorstep," Thomas says. Does this mean that the fourth-place Rays could pull out a series win?  Maybe.  Perhaps 420 portends the return of the Seatle Hempfest for the first time since 2020.  With Mariner fans eying the antics of this year’s Hempfest, it gives the Yankees an opportunity to poach some players.  Is this an astrology sign of Armageddon?  Personally, I predict unnoticeable change, run-of-the-mill love, and middling happiness.  The Yankees will definitely finish within the top-five of the AL East.

Nostradamus was born Michel de Notredame in 1503 in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France. It's fair to say Nostradamus didn't have a boring life. He originally worked as an apothecary, then attended the University of Montpelier to pursue a medical degree. Along the way, he was expelled for practicing a "manual trade" (the use of herbal remedies), which was considered "too low" for a doctor (via Biography).

The jury is out as to whether he eventually went back to school and received a medical license, but Biography points out he did work as a physician during the plague outbreak in Italy and France. In fact, you could use the same exact poem to "predict" several incidents throughout history, some of them centuries apart. There have been instances, however, where some of his predictions seem very specific. For example:

"The young lion will overcome the older one / On the field of combat in a single battle / He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage / Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death" has been interpreted as a prediction of the death of King Henry II of France, who died in a jousting tournament when a younger opponent hit his face and caused a massive wound. The king died after 11 days of extreme pain (per Insider).

Another famous prophecy that appeared to come true referred to the devastating London fire of 1666: "The blood of the just will be demanded of London / Burnt by fire in the year '66 / The ancient Lady will fall from her high place / And many of the same sect will be killed." However, the poem seems to indicate the fire was caused by lightning, when in reality it started inside a bakery (via Insider).

Some of his prophecies were definitely wrong, though. For example, he predicted that in "The year one thousand nine ninety-nine seven month /  From the sky shall come a great King of terror." But nothing particularly terrible happened in September 1999 (per Biography).

The present year doesn't look good for humanity

Nostradamus had a lot of terrible things to say about 2021. For this year alone, he predicted zombies, asteroids, and a plague, all with grim results. The predictions start pretty dark: "After great trouble for humanity, a greater one is prepared, / The Great Mover renews the ages: / Rain, blood, milk, famine, steel, and plague, / Is the heavens fire seen, a long spark running" (via 7News).

Experts believe the "great trouble" could refer to the COVID pandemic that started in 2020, with "a greater one" meaning the continuation of the virus into 2021. As for the "heaven's fire," turns out the massive Asteroid 2021 KT1 flew by Earth at 40,000 mph in early June, according to NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies (via USA Today). But since it missed and Earth is still intact, we can safely say at least this part of the prediction has failed so far.

For 2021, Nostradamus also warns us of "Few young people: half-dead to give a start," which seems to allude to some sort of zombie apocalypse (the half-dead) taking over the world. While we don't have (so far) any information of zombies taking over the planet, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is helping us get ready for it with their Zombie Preparedness Guide, just in case.

If we survive 2021, we'll be okay for a while

Despite the grim predictions for 2021, Nostradamus' prophecies continue until the year 3797. So if we make it through potential asteroid crashes, famines, the plague, and a zombie apocalypse, humanity might survive an extra 1,500 years or so. Still, between 2021 and the end of times, Nostradamus predicted a lot of terrible things: wars, the coming of three Antichrists, and many plagues and pestilences, as related by The Sunday Post of Glasgow.

Many of these will leave the world in worse shape than it was before them, but not necessarily end it. At some point, Nostradamus predicted the third Antichrist will "rise over all the kings of the east" and trigger World War III. This won't be pretty and will last up to three decades, resulting in a lot of death and destruction. However, this won't be the end, either. 

According to The Sun, the true end is what Nostradamus called the "final conflagration," a series of extinction level events that might include super volcanoes, "fire from the sky," and what some believe could refer to a massive solar flare. While he doesn't give a date for the end of the world, the fact that his predictions end at a specific time (the year 3797) could be a sign that he believes this is when the end will come.
