jay being a seer of void makes so much more sense to me now that i've contextualised the seer as "one who seeks [own aspect] through [opposite aspect]". jay's ultimate goal is to understand the unknown & unmask alex's secrets, but he goes about it in such a light-coded way (documenting everything, getting through by blind fortune alone) that he really does seem like a light player at first glance.

the jay|alex parallels drive me crazy sometimes. also saying a lot that jay has the same aspect that i've tied directly to the operator.

very proud of what i have in mind for brian in this au.

you're gonna see a lot of him and it's not gonna be very flattering, but it's gonna be real.

he's the witch of mind for a reason. the manipulator of masks, of choices, of impersonality, of rationality. we're going to be looking a lot into how brian views people as pawns, not people. we're going to be looking a lot into his very, very fractured sense of humanity.

i find it a very fun coincidence that brian/tim and jay/alex ended up bearing opposing aspects. it wasn't really something i set out to do so, moreso just a happy accident when classpecting them

rest assured, i will be capitalising on that potential for narrative parallels

HORNETSSTUCK: What I have so far

Right, so, if you're here, you probably know what this is all about. Either you're here from the post I made on my main blog or happened to be innocently scrolling Tumblr and came across my monstrosity.

I'll be upd8ing this post regularly to include more details the more progress I make; character designs, story beats (that don't spoil too much), artwork and such. For now, a brief overview of the ideas in my head right now. I'm assuming from this point forward you have a decent understanding of both Homestuck & Marble Hornets.

Story

The basic idea I had was replacing Alex's descent into obsession and madness over the Operator during the MH filming process with an obsession with playing SBURB. He'd be the one to obtain a copy of the game (because MH characters seem to have a habit of attracting weird, fucked-up tapes and such) and suggest playing it to the others. Alex would probably also occupy the role of being the session's Skaia cloud viewer or whatever (like Jade & Kanaya) though I don't see them having a Space player to start with.

The initial session would consist of the main four guys in the MH cast: Jay, Alex, Brian and Tim, each one joining the session in that order. Story beats would obviously take cues from the main plot of Marble Hornets, but I'd be telling my own original story with the same cast. After all, things are gonna play out a lot differently with SBURB involved.

Characters

I've got chumhandles, hex colours and Classpects down for five of the main characters. I plan on including all of the film cast at some point (so yes, Sarah, Seth & Amy will show up) as well as Jessica and, of course, the star of our show.

Jay's handle is veridicalKenophobia (#86C400) and he is a Seer of Void.

Alex's handle is corbanAlexipharmia (#2D3273) and he is a Prince of Light.

Brian's handle is acosmistAnticryptic (#C8C846) and he is a Witch of Mind.

Tim's handle is visardEmptysis (#500000) and he is an Heir of Heart.

Jessica's handle is vaccinalAtaraxia (#64965A) and she is a Muse of Breath.

Relationships

I don't see shipping playing a major role in this story at all, so sorry to disappoint all the yaoi fans out there. If you really want to know my opinion, I do kinda like Jam (Jay/Tim) so there might be undertones of that here and there but I don't see me canonising anything. The guys have more important things to worry about than dating, sorry, bro.
