I find myself running dry of words tonight, and I realized it's because literally what else is there left to say?

If you argue back against the senseless hate, you're engaging people whose arguments do not deserve a response [post Sartre quote]

But if you don't say anything, you are being silent in the face of evil — well-known evil, at that. This evil has a blood-soaked history and has only ever festered in silence.

If you respond with jokes and memes, because you'll never convince the hardliners anyway, you risk scaring off fair-minded people who just haven't considered their biases.

But if you respond with a full, well-reasoned and sourced argument, you'll just be ignored anyway because who has time to read all that?

If you skip past the horror of what your people have been through, and shield their privacy and dignity (not to mention avoiding [re]traumatizing yourself) how can anyone ever truly comprehend the severity of your situation?

But if you do, you're just turning out your pockets for the sadists who benefit from it.

If you acknowledge complexity and nuance and insist on holding your own people accountable, your words will be mutilated in service of further slandering your people.

But if you avoid the full picture of what is happening, you'll be seen as excusing it or worse — actively justifying it.

If you say "I care about all the innocent people involved," it will be treated as an admission.

But if you focus only on your own people, it will also be treated as an ommission.

So what are we supposed to say? How can we speak up for ourselves and expect to be heard? Who can we expect to listen? And who are we if we don't, nevertheless?

We are in an impossible position.

every day i wake up and dream about writing a fic where the MC is a prince/princess of a kingdom stuck between two kingdoms at war. and a handsome but intimidating king comes to visit, proposing a political marriage so that he can have access to your lands due to the strategic importance. but you decline. and then get kidnapped and taken to his kingdom, where he will spend 4 weeks attempting to woo you. and if he fails then he will return you to your kingdom and never bother you again. but of course you fall in love
