I can't stop thinking about how Izuku and Tomura have both been dehumanized AND have dehumanized themselves. They looked at the people trying to stop them and said "I'm fine, I don't need help" and just kept being in denial about it. Tomura's still there with that, and Izuku has mostly got out of it I guess? With the Rogue arc at least

The most annoying aspect is why didn’t AFO just give Tomura Overhaul? He could still kill his family by the surprise factor and turning his family to paste and would be more stronger and versatile for future plans. Like have Garaki teach anatomy to Tomura to master overhaul if it requires knowledge or heal up AFO after his fight with all might since Tomura is completely loyal. Plus it would make crime so much easier like overhauling walls to break in and out with no sign of damage or kill/torture someone over and over and not leave fingerprints, heal wounds since Tomura complained about no having a healer in the party. My only guess is that Decay would ensure the family dies. Honestly it feels like Hori knew people suspected that Decay was given, so he tried to add a surprise twist by having be from Overhaul but just ended up raising more questions.
AFO had access to Overclock and Overhaul and didn't keep either of these quirks, or at least a copy of them. These two alone would make for an extremely broken combo. That, imo, is just complete dumbassery on AFO's part.
Its still weird that AFO didn't have a copy of Overhaul because Garaki could make artificial copies of quirks starting with the AFO quirk itself. If Garaki had the quirk him he could have easily fixed and improved AFO after his fight with All-Might
I have a particular question regarding Kotaro Shimura. We know that he and Nana had a rough time after the death of the father and force to let go his son to being raise from foster family. Why didn't All For One track him and brainwashing him to thinking that his mother abandoned him? Why target Tenko, his son to be his successor?
I've already talked about the flaws of him taking "Overclock", that it's an extremely skill reliant power that needed a dedicated user to make the most of, so I'll just talk about everything else here.
I think you are overestimating how much "Overhaul" would by of use to All For One. Yes, I did say that All For One would benefit from "Overhaul" and I stand by that. However, that is my assumption that "Overhaul" is super easy to use. if I were to play devil's advocate, I could put forward "Overhaul" is a lot more complicated then it appears. It's only as strong as it is since Kai is equal parts competent and experienced enough to make the most of the power. This can be further supported if you go with the idea that "Overhaul" was a deviation, which are infamous for being dangerous and unwieldy for even trained users. Whether or not any of this was Hori's intention is unclear, at least to me. What I can say for certain is that "Overhaul" could not heal All For One. While "Overhaul" can fix injuries, it can't reserve damage. If anything is missing or too far gone, Kai can't fix it. It's why Eri is still scared from all the experiments that Kai did on her. The damage that All For One took is far more extensive then that, to the point that not even "Super Regeneration" could fix it. It's why we don't see it healed until he took the Rewind Drug. He needed something that potent to put his body back together.
While "Overhaul" is certainly a more practical power, there were multiple reasons "Decay" was given to Tomura. It prevented Tomura from being able to heal his family. "Overhaul" is meant to reverse any of the damage done, potentially giving Tomura an out from whatever destruction he caused. "Decay" is only meant for destruction. Second is that All For One didn't want Tomura to be too capable. You need to remember that All For One didn't want a true successor. What he wanted was a vessel that he could eventually take control over. For that, he needed Tomura to hate and for that hate to be strong. So he gave him a power that was a constant problem, risking destroying whatever he touched and was only applicable in destruction, further pushing his destructive nature. "Overhaul" would have been too useful to really work with that. Finally, it helped keep Tomura under All For One's wing. It made him easier to direct and influence. We see this all the way when they first interact. It's why he didn't use Kotaro. Going by the flashbacks, Kotaro was a full adult. It could have been that All For One had only just found him and decided to reoriented his successor plan to use Nana's family, engineering the whole scenario to make the successor he wanted.

Also have you notice how shitty characters that hinder Izu or want to hurt him or others look like bk?
First user- didn't want to work with Izu for reasons we won't get. Yoichi had to implore (this makes me so mad, even more with you yaoi ships going "🥰new ship" like guys...this asshole is refusing to work with Izu😒just like a certain someone) and treated him like a mule, like "do it or die" wtf?
BK- tried to kill him. Suicide bait him, refused to work with him bc of course! And calls Izu useless ( ruined class A1 by convincing them to corner Izu. Cemeting Izu has no friends)
Muscular- villain but Izu beat him (with a quirk that Hori made destroy is bones for some reason)
AFO- he is looking like bk now.
This means absolutely nothing for Hori but come on...
Hi @mikeellee 👋
Kind of?
Honestly, I can sort of see it (especially between Muscular, Second and Bakugou) with the red eyes theme linking the four but not so much similarity with AFO and Bakugou.
The Second User... This guy had the potential to be interesting but his actions in not wanting to work with Izuku were PETTY. (Could have been interesting if this guy was a traitor to AFO like how Yuuga went against AFO. Could have also been interesting if this guys reluctance to work with Izu was down to DFO reasons.- But... No.) This guy is a plot device, a pretty flat and pathetic one at that.
Muscular - haha! This guy is so similar to Bakugou that I bet Hori basically went 'what if Bakugou became a villain ' and out popped this guy. It is super weird how he looks like Bakugou - I wonder if that's meant to say anything... I just wish Hori would let Izuku K.o Bakugou the same way he did to Muscular the second time.
Bakugou - you know what I think of him. He is complete scum. Should have had his ass in jail and taken straight out of UA for the things he's done to Izuku.
AFO - I'm not really seeing the similarity (except in the one where he's grinning maniacally at AM - and doesn't that say something about Bakugou? He mirrors the worst villains manic expressions right when AFO is gearing up to try and kill someone.)

It’s all for his sake - Endeavor and the Sunk Cost Fallacy
My hero academia 301 is a pretty interesting chapter, but for me, the most notable piece of it was how Endeavour reacted to the realization that Touya couldnt surpass All Might.
upon realizing that his son might not be able to do it because of inborn physical limitations, he immediatly stopped his training, which frankly was the responsible and adult thing to do.
This stint of real parenthood did not last long however.
After taking the matter to a doctor, he is flat out told that not only cant Touya achive what endeavor wants, but it is a direct result of his incredibly selfish and irresponsible attempt to play god, by trying to breed the “perfect” hero into being.
It is how you react when you lose however, that shows who you really are, and endeavor illustrates that very, very well.
Upon being told in no uncertain terms that his attempts at Breeding an heir failed magnificently, producing a child that was not capable of resisting his own immense power, but also admonished by his doctor for even attempting it, and adviced not to try again, Endeavor instead doubled down, while focusing on the child he screwed over from the start with his attempt at genetic manipulation.
It was all for him you see. Endeavor doesnt use those words, but that is how he spins it here. it was all for Touya, all for his sake. if i stop now, then Touya was all for nothing, a mistake, im doing this for my son.
if im doing this for my son, then im not responsible for any of this.
his wife however, calls him out on it, as she understands Touya much, much more than endeavor does. or rather, she sees him fully as a human being, instead of as a thing, a weapon, a failed attempt at an heir.
Unlike Endeavor, Rei is able to see the way this all is affecting her son. She is able to see, and understand that Touya has fully accepted what Endeavor wanted him to be. a stronger, and better version of himself. however, unlike Endeavor, she only cares about him as a person.
Endeavour by comparison isnt completely uncaring about Touya. like most abusive parents, he does possess love for his offspring, but it is forever tainted by the fact that however much he might care, or not care about Touya, any familial love he has for his son is tainted by the fact that to Endeavor, he is a failed experiment, a failed heir, not his child.
He is the golden child that Endeavor was building up as his true and only heir, who he breed, trained, and molded to for that single purpose, and now that he’s reached a point where he cant continue that legacy.
so, its time to abandon him, and start over new, despite literarily having just learned how stupid this plan was, and that it can, in fact, go completely wrong, with a quirk that will fuck over the person he brings into the world.
Of course, Endeavor doesnt use those words to frame it. there is no way to pretend to be a hero, if you phrase it like that after all. Intead, this is the words he uses.
this is a very important series of panels for a great number of reasons, some that can be debated, argued, and we will probably never know the full truth to the questions because this is a series published in 2020′s shonen jump, and there are things that probably wasnt gonna fly with Hori’s editors, if it was the case.
but lets start with what can not be debated. Endeavor’s words here.
“If we want him to give it up, then we have no choice... Touya... Cant surpass him.”
These are very telling words, and however you believe The third and fourth children of the Todoroki family was concieved, there is not denying the meaning of what he’s saying here.
The only way that my son will stop being an idiot and fall into line, is if we have another baby. that is the only Right way to move forward. it is morally right, because if we dont do this, then he’s going to destroy himself.
there are two ways to interpret this scene.
The charitable way is to read it as the fact that he used Rei’s oldest son’s mental state as a justification of guilting his wife to have a third child, to give this attempt at a superpowered breeding project another shot, despite the fact that they now know that this can lead to a child who is essentially born crippled from his own powers, and despite the fact that Rei obviously understands the effect of them continuing this insanity will have on their oldest son.
the uncharitable way to look at it, is that he used this as justification for flat out raping her, and forcing a third, and then later a fourth child on her.
I personally believe the last one, given a number of factors shown in this chapter(the way this page is framed, the fact Rei obviously didnt want a third child, given she predicted exactly how touya would react, the way her eyes would latet turn when she looks at who is presumably touya which really brings to mind how she would later react to her youngest son’s face after her mental breakdown, etc.), but i’ll frankly admitt that withouth a direct quote from Hori, its impossible to know for sure one way or another.
either way however, this is a very good example of Endeavor both being influenced by, and using Sunk Cost Fallacy to justify bringing another potentially crippled child into the world for his own, selfish goals.
sunk cost Fallacy, is a mental reaction to when you invest more time and resources into a project, that you becomes so emotionally invested into said project that you will continue to invest into it, even if it reaches a point that it becomes clear that the resources you put into it, far, far outweighs the potential gains you can achieve.
because if you give up after having invested years, and years of effort to breed, raise, and train a kid, and then all that effort was absolutely wasted. hence he choose to keep going, despite having learned what a terrible idea this is.
He doesnt care about the fact that his next child might be even more crippled than his firstborn, he doesnt care about his son’s actual wellbeing. he cares about the fact that if he doesnt continue this insanity, then not only will he not achieve his dreams, but everything he did to get to this point was for absolutely nothing.
and endeavor cannot accept that. and so long as he can justify breeding more children into the world, and there being any chance they might inherit both quirks perfectly, he doesnt care about anything else.
and the moment he realised that this kid wasnt gonna cut it either, he did it again. it is not a coincidence, that the age gap between Endeavor’s second, third, and fourth children were all 3-4 years apart. because thats the age where you can usually tell when a quirk will manifest or not, as established earlier in the series.
While she isnt brought up directly by Endeavor as a justification, it is very telling that Endeavor decided on having a third child, only after his second child was old enough that he could tell that that there was no chance she could take the place as his heir instead.
So, he had his third child, and as time passed and it became obvious that he wasn’t gonna be able to fulfill Endeavor’s goals either, he dumped him, and instead breed a fourth child into existence.
and finally, he struck gold. he did it. he produced Shoto.
everything was finally worth it, and now, everything would be absolutely fine. the cost fallacy had reached its end, and it was now all full sails ahead.
except of course it wasnt.
His oldest son, now in middle school, had been raised from birth to believe he would surpass his father, only to be thrown away, and getting to see his father try to replace him, not once, but twice.
frankly, this scene is probably my favorite in the chapter, because it goes to show Endeavor’s mindset. Natsuo made a point that their father completely ignored his older children. and he did... from Natsuo’s perspective. however, having a more thourough picture of things, we can clearly see that this wasnt the case with Touya.
Endeavor genuinly cared for Touya, enough that once he got that child he tried to breed into existence 4 times, he genuinly wanted him to just abandon trying to be a hero. he genuinly thinks of himself as a good dad here, wanting his son to abandon the mission he set out for him before he was born. of course, with context, this heartwarming scene is incredibly sad and insidious, because we understand why Endeavor got so attached to his oldest child. because he WAS the golden child. he was the child Endeavor genuinly cared about, and invested in, and trained personally with great warmth and enthusiasm.
And not only did he abandon him as a failed project the moment he realized he wasnt gonna live up to his ridiculous standards, but he literarily created 2 more kids to try and replace him, just as his oldest son was old enough to understand what exactly his dad was doing. over the course of this chapter, we get to see Touya’s start as a 5-8 year old, his deteriorating mental state over the years, until he finally seemed to reach the breaking point with Shoto’s birth sometime in his middle school years 12-15.
Endeavor is in this scene, just not capable of understanding why Touya so desperately wants to become a hero, when obviously he isnt physically able to do so. he isnt able to understand that he is 100% to blame for the fact that his son is having a full emotional breakdown after literaly being replaced by his siblings.
In other words, Endeavor genuinly think’s he’s a good person. a person who has made a few mistakes along the way sure, but a person who was always justified in the end, and now that he’s having to face the fact that as dabi would later say “The past never dies” and has to face the aftermath of his inane attempt to play god for the pettiest of reasons, things simply arent going to work out.
He isnt going to have a happy family, who can now put the awful early years behind them, he put way too much effort, caused too much suffering and sacrificed too many years of his life for this not to work out as he wants.
after all, if he walks away from this project now, and lets Shoto have a normal childhood, and decide for himself, with no pressure from him, wheter or not to become a hero, then the sunk cost fallacy will have reached a negative end. it will all have been for nothing.
and we know he did eventually double down on this mentality, literarily beating into Shoto that he WAS going to become a hero, and there was not but’s or no’s about it.
there was no way that Endeavor was EVER going to let things be for nothing. His treatment of his older children could not be for nothing. His treatment of his wife could not be for nothing. His treatment of Shoto, and the way he beat him black and blue to train him, could not be for nothing.
Because if it all was for nothing, if everything he feels guilty about was for absolutely nothing, then he was in fact, a bad, bad person, who had no justification for anything he ever did.

Its interesting to me how at the "peak" of the idea of power, when Bakugou was the "top" in his school and now Deku who has the most quirks on the "good" side, they are at their "worse" and their most heroic qualities manifest in ways that hurt others out of fear. Bakugou strive to be the best, making him fearful of Deku so he kept trying to put him down. Deku strive to save everyone, making him fearful of anyone getting hurt causes him to treat them in a way that looks down on their strength.
While this is probably what you sort of said in the tags I do like that the fear that Deku will hurt himself feels like it plays a part in both times we see Bakugou stand in opposition to Deku's actions (with the backing of the class), while in 1 it was more a selfish fear with some undercurrent of fearing for what Deku tries to be and in 319 it is selfless fear of what Deku is being. Just that "If you are hero, you will hurt yourself" has remained consistent.
Ah, referring back to this post!? :O It’s amazing, the way Hori plays with all his parallels like this is so fascinating, I love it. To compare & contrast with what's come before, connected even all the way back to the literal beginning (ch1), to both look at things in hindsight with newly revealed context, and to highlight just how much things have presently progressed/changed since then too.
We see the extremes from how both their 'types' of heroism have ended up hurting others, yes. :O That without any moderation or learned balance, the two extremes they embody are both ineffective & unsustainable at properly being a hero alone. (All Might knew this) Even if they completely flip sides, role-reversing the other's main defining trait, people still end up hurt (both indirectly, and directly including themselves). So the best balance of them meeting each other in the middle still has yet to be achieved (which we're waiting for~)
What's interesting about what's currently happening, is that yes, there is that common 'fear' element at play (Deku fearing more of his loved ones getting hurt - indirectly hurting who’s left behind/disregarded, and for Kacchan, the fear of Deku's potential, and the fear for Deku recklessly hurting himself), that's been a consistent driving factor behind their actions. Kacchan's especially (both for selfish/prideful & selfless/concern reasons), in the both times we've seen him lead the class in confronting Deku.
Which has consistently been about: him knowing/fearing (& before - not fully understanding) Deku's inherent selfless nature (which is a heroic quality, quirkless or not) by never taking himself into account, will naturally lead to Deku's death as he recklessly destroys himself for the sake of others.
Preventing that process from happening - once to stop and discourage quirkless Deku from ever becoming a hero outright, even thru the cruelest means possible (but Deku still couldn't be stopped/discouraged; he kept following and pursuing this once impossible dream, so Kacchan's attempts to keep him back never worked), but now that Deku's literally empowered and driven by the strongest quirk (OfA) to go even beyond what he could do before...holy shit, Kacchan intervening so Deku doesn't crash & burn, derailing like a speeding train and needlessly killing himself from the combined overburden & his own selfless nature - is of utmost importance. D: (Which is actually a very relevant real world lesson about the urgency and importance of self-care; to not needlessly destroy yourself from the extremes of overwork.)
And now...what a clash of both their worst fears brought to the forefront!! Deku actively pushing himself to extremes over the fear of his loved one's (including Kacchan's) safety, while Kacchan actively intervenes to prevent his worst feared outcome from happening: this time, Deku outright killing himself over this...GAHHH!! What drives them both is like seeing an unstoppable force meet an unmovable object, but here Kacchan's brought the very reason (all their classmates) that Deku's claimed he's fighting for...so what if Deku hurts those he's sworn to protect!? Will his entire motivation/ideology collapse under the paradox or what! Ahh!! I'm eager to see what becomes of Hori's aftermath.

Denki Kaminari is the traitor and I can prove this through his character design
I actually wanted to analyze all of the character designs of class 1-A, but this theory has been burning in the back of my head for weeks, so now I’m doing the shortened version with just looking at Denki’s part. Hey-ho let’s go.
1. Lists
First off, we have to create an analytical basis. In my opinion, the students of class 1-A can be separated into 4 different categories in regard to their overall “importance” to the story (I know that sounds rude and I personally hold all the kids very close and dear to my heart, but from a storytelling perspective you got to admit that there are some characters given less screen time or story beats than others and as a result tend to be less important than characters who have lots of flashbacks etc.). The categorization is based on an objective view of the series and I will try to explain why I put certain characters in certain categories along with naming the categories.
1) prime primary characters (100% not the traitor)
Deku, Bakugou, Shouto
These three are the main focus of the series, the protagonists if you will. They get the most screen time, the most flashbacks, and the most backstory information and are untouchable pillars of the story’s groundwork. All two (or three) of them have their own personal character arcs that span longer than just one story arc (see Bakugou slowly learning not to be an absolute gremlin, Deku’s long journey of becoming the hero he wants to be, Shouto learning to deal with his father’s abuse and family situation). Even if you’d say that i.e. Shouto is not important enough to be counted as one of the protagonists, he is still one of the most recognizable characters of the series and definitely on the forefront when it comes to fleshed out characterization.
2) primary characters (70% not the traitor)
Ochako, Tsuyu, Iida, Kirishima
These four characters are the main group surrounding the protagonists and are fundamental as the supporting cast. These include the first two real friends Deku made at UA, Ochako and Iida, as well as Tsuyu and Kirishima. Ochako is here because of her connection with two characters from the prime primary category: she is one of Deku’s closest friends in addition to being clearly framed as his main love interest, as well as being in one of the more important fights from the Sports Festival against Bakugou. Iida is connected to two characters from prime primary as well: like Ochako he’s close friends with Deku, but also shared a lot of spotlight with Shouto during the Stain storyline. Kirishima seems to be only connected to Bakugou at first (being the first one to try to befriend him, reaching out to him during Kamino, being reminded of his strength through Bakugou during his own backstory flashback), but with the recently finished Overhaul arc in the anime he also had his time to shine alongside Deku during that arc. Tsuyu was a bit of a tough case to categorize as she did not have any flashbacks or bigger story arcs for her own (yet), but she is also one of those closest to Deku and did share an emotional moment with him and Shouto after the Bakugou rescue mission. She is also a very recognizable face for the series (so much that my friends who have never touched a piece of BNHA media named her as one of the characters they think are in the series “there’s the protagonist, then this boy with the split hair colours and...That weird frog girl, right?”). Characters in this category have backstory and flashbacks like those from the prime primary category, though these are dealt with and then accepted as a staple in the story, and not ongoing plot structures. Examples for this are the mention of Ochako’s motive for becoming a hero, Iida’s revenge plot and Kirishima’s backstory during the Overhaul arc. These are important story beats that flesh out their characters, but once the arc reaches its end the character growth for the character in question slows down a lot or comes to a halt entirely. Counter example is Bakugou’s ongoing character growth throughout the series, which will remain as an arc throughout the whole thing because of his status as prime primary character. If one of these characters were to be the traitor it would not be a series destroying move, though in my opinion it’s still very unlikely, since these all have proven themselves to be close friends with the prime primary characters, shared emotional moments with them and gave us all a look into their motivations and backstory to a point, where I just think it’d be highly unlikely for one of them to do a 180 and turn out to be ‘evil’. For those already typing that that’s the point, that we should think the traitor is not this close to the protagonists to then be surprised by the reveal, I have to tell you that that is not how story-telling works. If you put a character in a story, make them best or very good friends with the protagonists, make them save and/or help them during tough situations, make them have flashbacks to their own childhood or develop backstory with the prime primary characters by their side, and then reveal them to have betrayed them the entire time without setting it up beforehand, you are not a good writer. Neither Iida nor Ochako nor Kirishima nor Tsuyu have had a situation in which they did or said questionable things or acted in a way that would make one stop for a moment and think about what just happened. They also all have a very high recognisability for the series and turning one of them ‘bad’ would be way too ground breaking for BNHA. (I know that Hori likes to subvert shounen tropes and such, and I admit that he manages to surprise me a lot, but he still largely follows the main story beats, plot structures and character functions other shounen writers before him did, so I assume that he won’t pull the reverse Uno card and make for example Tsuyu the traitor, because that simply goes too much against the current of shounen and other media of the type).
3) secondary/support characters (very likely to be the traitor)
Mina, Kaminari, Aoyama, Tokoyami, Jirou, Momo, Sero
These characters are sort of there to fill the classroom, but are designed and set up in a way to potentially have backstory and character growth. These are characters that have had small arcs mostly connected to the prime primary and primary characters that weren’t really that in depth or emotional, but are a great set up for more growth. One of them is most likely to be the traitor in my opinion because they kind of stand in the middle: they are recognizable for the series (see for example Mina, Tokoyami, Jirou) and have had short touches with backstory (see Aoyama talking with Deku about him not being compatible with his quirk, Mina having a small part in Kirishima’s backstory), or character development (see Momo showcasing her skills during Joint Training, the current small arc in the anime of Jirou learning to save people through music), but are ultimately kept in the background. To sum it up, they are very clearly meant and designed to be secondary to the main cast of prime and primary characters.
4) full-picture characters (too unimportant to be the traitor)
Hagakure, Koda, Shouji, Ojiro, Sato, Mineta
These are characters which are in my opinion very clearly designed to “just” be background characters, or as I call them “full-picture” characters (in the sense of them filling empty spaces in a class picture). This does not mean they will never get any development, though they are very likely to stay in the background and act as very minor supporting characters to prime and secondary characters. These characters are designed to be very simple and often have a constant joke that goes with them (see Mineta being a pervert, Ojiro being plain) and are meant to create a basis for interactions between prime and secondary characters. They are literally too unimportant to be the traitor, meaning if it was suddenly revealed to be one of them, there’d be no screen time, no real dialogue and no backstory to back it up (up to now). Characters can move from this category to the secondary character category, though this is currently still unlikely.
Possible spoilers from here on out!
2. Look at these characters and tell me their personality
Ok, now that I’ve categorized all my precious hero kids into their story-level importance, I think it’s time to point out something that hit me yesterday at 1 AM: I noticed that the more important a character is for the series, the more ‘human’ their character design is. I’ll try to explain: in the world of BNHA it’s very common to have a sort of ‘mutated’ body, most times to accommodate for a quirk, though sometimes the mutation seems a bit random. However, the series is filled with people who have multiple body parts, highly deformed body parts or otherwise bodies that deviate from the to us normal human form. Now let’s look at our kids and their importance levels: all the prime primary characters have completely ‘normal’ human bodies (btw, single-colour colourful hair will not be counted as deviating from the normal human form, this is still an anime we’re talking about). They are all average heights for boys their age, no extra body parts, no deviation from an average anime boy face. Yes, there’s Shouto with his two-coloured hair and two-coloured eyes, but the split only applying to his hair and eyes makes him still look very much like an average human, as opposed to i.e. if his skin was also two-coloured and split in the middle. I think it’s not that surprising for the three main characters of a shounen to look like normal teenage boys, since it’s still a series meant to appeal to a widespread audience and I don’t think that could have been achieved if Deku and his two prime buddies were all heavily mutated. For now, let’s look at the primary characters: Ochako is very humanly designed, no weird mutations or crazy design elements aside from the pads on her finger tips. Iida is also very human, no deviation from the norm in face or body aside from his engine pipes in his calves. Kirishima also looks like the average anime boy, the only time he looks rather ‘inhuman’ is when he fully activates his quirk and goes into Red Riot Unbreakable. Tsuyu is the only one out of the primary characters whose body and face deviate more heavily from the normal human form (though the deviation is also not that crass or remarkable). And what did I say while categorizing her? She is tough to categorize because she hasn’t played that big of a role in the story yet, that she had a few emotional moments with the prime primary and primary here and there, but ultimately she does not have a backstory or major story elements yet. This stands in contrast to Ochako, Iida and Kirishima, who have all had major story beats, flashbacks and important interactions with the prime primary up to now, and are all very much humanly designed, aside from minor deviations that don’t affect their overall picture. Compare Tsuyu constantly standing a bit hunched over, her big feet and hands, her comically large eyes, her large and uniquely drawn mouth and her tongue sticking out to Ochako, who looks like an average anime girl except for the small pink pads on her finger tips.
Hold on. From the 7 characters in the prime primary and primary category, only one deviates a bit more from the human form and coincidentally that one is also the one character out of the 7 who has not have major character growth, backstory, flashbacks and/or the kind of specific interactions with the other characters from the categories yet? Now I’m intrigued. To me it seems the more important a character is for the series, the more human is his character design.
And now, to ask the question we’re all here for: if Hori did not scrap the traitor plotline, wouldn’t it make sense to make the traitor as human as possible? Since the possibility of a traitor was treated very serious during and after the UJ incident, as it posed a threat to the security and well-being of UA, I figured that whoever the traitor is shouldn’t look too, or be connotated with the words ‘joke’, ‘inhuman’ or ‘silly’. Not only would it make the most sense for an average, human looking student to be the least suspected, but it would also make the story-wise hit and drama from a traitor reveal that much more captivating, both for main characters and audience, since then the traitor is not someone they are completely detached from look wise, but someone who looks very close to them or someone they know. If the traitor were to be a student with blue skin, a trunk and six legs, I think it would just take away from the impact of a reveal and make you wonder why nobody noticed the questionable actions of the literal alien.
Since I think we can all agree that the kids in the prime primary category are 100% not the traitor, and the kids from the primary category are also very much not likely to be the traitor because of their major involvement with the protagonists (and the absolute bullshit it would be to make the characters who were established since page 1 to be nice and helpful turn to the bad side without beforehand character development in that direction), that leaves us with the kids from the secondary category and the kids from the full-picture category. The latter I described as being designed for the background; characters who could potentially rise in category once given character development, but who are without backstory or character growth up to now. Let’s look at them: Mineta, Sato, Ojiro, Shouji and Koda all deviate heavily from the standard human form set by the prime primary characters, either by their body size, mutated body parts or facial deviation. As much as it pains me to say this, they are all designed either too far from being ‘normal human’ to be the traitor, and/or have a joke attached to them and their character that would make a possible reveal come off as too comedic or inappropriate. Hagakure is a special case. She has deviations from the human form (having no visible body) but this is a minor deviation compared to the other five in the category. Still she has a joke attached to her (not being visible) and is also kept in the background of the series without having major story beats on her own and, like the other five, acts more as a supporting character to the secondary characters. Overall, the 6 kids in this category all have heavy deviations from the standard human form and a joke attached to their character, which makes them very unlikely traitor material.
Let’s look at the secondary characters in more detail: without revealing too much, the characters in this category are design-wise on the same level as those of the primary characters with very minor bodily deviations from the human form and only some of them have a joke attached to their character. Mina and Tokoyami have the most prominent bodily deviations with having pink skin/horns and a bird head, but let’s take a look at their role in the overall story: Mina is very much a Genki Girl, an enthusiastic bouncy girl, and acts as a support especially to Ochako and Tsuyu. She also played a semi-important role in Kirishima’s backstory, which let us have a look at her childhood/middle school self. That, plus her deviating human form makes it clear: a character like her is very unlikely to be the traitor. Tokoyami has a more severe deviation from the human form, plus he has a semi-joke attached to his character (constantly being serious or dramatic, holding speeches about darkness in archaic language). He also got captured during the Training Camp incident and is friends with Deku since the Sports Festival. Deviating human form, constant joke connotated with character, taken advantage of by the villains: in my opinion, very unlikely to be the traitor. Two characters in this category with very little deviation from the human norm are Jirou and Sero. Jirou has her earphone earlobes as the only deviation, while Sero has his elbows and almost constant big-toothed smile as his bodily and facial deviations. Jirou is one of the counterparts to Mina’s Genki Girl type and also acts as a supporting character for the rest of the girls. While Ochako, Mina and Hagakure can be characterized as enthusiastic, bouncy and happy, Momo and Tsuyu are more of the intellectual and tactical types, with slight tendencies to get bouncy when excited. Jirou is a middle part among the girls, being cool and reserved and not as bouncy as Mina, but also being slightly more brash and offensive than Momo or Tsuyu. She has no real joke attached to her character, but the fact that we have seen her parents and the recent arc in the anime is all about her realizing she can save people through her music (overall being a more light-hearted arc) add to my opinion that she is very unlikely to be the traitor. Sero has his elbows and smile as his deviations from the standard human form and as a member of the unofficial ‘Bakusquad’ he serves as a supporting character to Bakugou, Kirishima and Kaminari. There is no joke attached to his character, but sadly there is also not much more to his character up to now. He’s had minor roles in the Sports Festival and Training Camp Arcs, and often acts with Kaminari as a duo, but compared to him, Sero has had very little overall screen time, very little meaningful dialogue and almost slides off into the full-picture category. The only reason I did not put him in that category is because of his only minor human deviations, but overall he just is not prominent enough in the story to be considered for the role of the traitor. That leaves us with two characters with absolutely no deviations from the human form and one with slight facial deviations, the latter of which is Aoyama who has a very unique facial design among the class. He also has constant jokes attached to his character, one being always looking into the “camera” and breaking the fourth wall, the other being often talking about his fabulous self and acting out in bizarre ways. Another point that paints him very unlikely traitor material is his recent small arc in the anime: starting out with ominous signs towards Deku and acting more weird than usual brought many to the conclusion of Aoyama being the traitor, but as it turns out he was used as bait. The real background for his weird behaviour was him telling Deku about his own quirk, Navel Laser, not being compatible with his body, which is why he needs his support belt. Him and Deku form an emotional bond after this and Deku considers Aoyama his friend from that point forward, and after this incident, Aoyama returns to his usual (though still bizarre) behaviour. If Aoyama would be the traitor character, all the character clues, small flashbacks and emotional development that led up to his scene with Deku would have to be repeated and changed to form the basis for the traitor characteristic. As this is very unlikely to be the case, and Aoyama has had his small brush with character growth, also not forgetting the jokes attached to his character, I think it’s overall given that he will not turn out to be the traitor. That leaves us with Momo and Kaminari.
Momo has no human derivation to herself, as well as no joke attached to her character. She has had small encounters with character growth during all the exam arcs as well as in Kamino, which also sort of is the breaking point for traitor theorists with her: During the attack on the training camp she created a small signal device and got Awase from 1-B to attach it to the villains. This signalling device would later help the Bakugou Rescue Team she was also a part of help to succeed on their mission. There was no need for her to create that device and/or join the rescue team if she was the traitor. I mentioned that there are no jokes attached to her character, though that is not entirely true. There is actually one joke that is sometimes applied to Momo, though it is not constant or particularly deprecating: it is her upbringing as a rich girl, which sometimes makes her detached from the monetary struggles her classmates go through, though this is more treated as a quirky characteristic than a joke. In regard to her being rich, she also invited some of her classmates to her house to study in Season 2, which gave us a look into her home. All the above mentioned facts speak against her having traitorous tendencies, despite being the only complete standard human girl.
3. The Case for Denki Kaminari
That leaves us with Kaminari Denki, the only boy in 1-A other than some of those from the prime primary and primary categories who 1) has absolutely no deviation from the standard human form, 2) has no constant joke to his character (we’ll talk about his whey in a second) and 3) has enough interaction with characters from both prime primary and primary to almost be considered a primary character. He really looks just like the standard human boy looks in BNHA; the only thing making him stand out look-wise is his hair, which is styled slightly spiky and has the black lightning bolt on his bangs (which is btw not dyed but there since his birth). His trait of ‘being flirty’ is as minor as Momo’s rich girl tendencies and also treated more as a characteristic and not as a joke. Now, I know you’re all pointing to his whey right now. Whenever Denki overuses his quirk and releases too much electricity it fries his brain and he goes dumb for about an hour, sticking up his thumbs, making a dunce face and only being able to talk very slurred. But is this really a joke? Is it not more a supposed additional characteristic of his quirk? Because if you think his whey-phase is a joke, then Tsuyu hibernating when it gets cold is also meant to be laughed at and Momo going tired after creating big things as well. Not to mention that, as many have mentioned before, his whey is something very easily fake able. But let’s jump back to his hair for a second. I know, it’s the most minor thing one can talk about, but isn’t it strange that Jirou and Denki are the only ones out of 1-A other than Shouto who have two-coloured hair? And people have been brushing this off, but the two-coloured hair is like, a major character trait for Shouto and not only represents his two sides and his two quirks, but is also symbolic for the split he feels inside of himself and the colours are representative not only of his parents’ hair, but also of the quirk each side can handle. So why can’t it be symbolic for the other two? Putting Jirou aside, what does the black lightning bolt-like strand in Denki’s hair represent? His quirk? Very plausible, since his quirk is based on electricity. But why is it black? You see, Jirou has a small ECG line in her hair, which is also representative of her quirk (and maybe of her hidden emotional and passionate side), but its colour does not deviate much from her original hair colour (her normal hair is dark purple, the line is light purple). Denki could have had a lightning bolt-like shape in any colour in his hair; he could have even had his hair completely black and the shape in yellow to emphasize it, but he doesn’t. He could have had a completely different hair style, with his hair being styled wildly in all directions away from his head to be symbolic of having an electric shock for example, or his hair having multiple small lightning bolts in it, but he doesn’t. Why is his hair completely blonde, except for the small shape symbolic of his powers in pitch black, almost lying like a dark shadow on the bangs slightly obstructing his face?
Moving away from the hair: if he is really meant to be a rather jokey secondary character with no important backstory, character development or role in the series, why is he designed so humanly and close to the protagonists? He could have had the constant whey-look on his face, be very tall and lanky to resemble a lightning rod, have the before mentioned shocked’ hair-style, have lightning shaped markings on his skin, have antennas on his head that act like TV antennas; he could have had a very wild and from the norm deviating design and it would have fit perfectly for a minor full-picture character. But Denki looks the way he looks and I can’t help but point out that there has to be a reason he looks like that, because character designs have meaning in a story. Why did Hori make Denki such a pretty boy, without any bodily or facial oddities, and have it not matter up to this point? Because let’s face it: out of all the boys without any immediately noticeable deviations from the human norm (Bakugou, Deku, Shouto, Kirishima, Aoyama, Iida, Ojiro, Sero, Denki), Denki is the only one that
1) doesn’t turn out to have major deviations and/or several constant jokes attached to his character (leaving Bakugou, Deku, Shouto, Kirishima, Iida, Sero, Denki)
2) wasn’t pushed into complete irrelevancy due to his role in the class (leaving Bakugou, Deku, Shouto, Kirishima, Iida, Denki)
3) isn’t considered the main protagonists (leaving Kirishima, Iida, Denki)
4) hasn’t contributed majorly to the storyline already plus clearly showing his antipathy for anything villainous and/or helping the main characters in a major situation against said villains
If you take all the above mentioned into consideration and add it to the major points of the Denki-Traitor-Theorists, it all comes together. His ‘initial’ character design for example? Too villainous, too obvious, he needed to look more human to take on the role of someone infiltrating a school and leaking its secrets. Why is Denki designed the way he is? Why is he prominently featured in a lot of promotional art despite seemingly being such a minor secondary support character? Because the groundwork for the revelation of his character is already rooted in his design and his actions.
I’m too tired to talk about all the Traitor!Kaminari points, you gotta look those up yourself if you’re interested.
This is my take on it for now, if y’all want I’ll talk about his hero costume and brand of character some more (which only adds to him being the traitor), but now I just want to get this theory out.

With the Dabi Todoroki childhood theory could you go more into how he felt when Shouto “replaced” him???
I’m mostly on mobile so I completely missed this ask! I’m sorry, I hope you didn’t think I was ignoring you!
I’m also still genuinely surprised by how many Dabi asks I’m getting after that (1) Dabi post. I don’t necessarily feel super justified talking about him to be honest. Don’t get me wrong! I genuinely like Dabi, I’m intrigued by his potential and I actually have a lot of opinions about what I want his arc to be. But it’s all very superficial compared what other proper Dabi stans might have to say. So I’m very happy to share my thoughts with y’all but it might all be quite superficial compared to what others will have to say!
I don’t have many complex thoughts on the Dabi/Shouto relationship besides what I already talked about. I think that Dabi actively hates Shouto or is at best very indifferent towards him. I don’t think they grew up together or interacted much during their childhood. We get so many insights about Shouto’s past and his relationship with his family and Dabi was never ever brought up (I sometimes feel like he doesn’t even know he exists honestly). As for Dabi, we saw he had absolutely no problem trying to murder Shouto during the Summer Camp arc (or murdering children in general). And the “too bad Todoroki Shouto” that the fandom seems to love so much feels insanely spiteful and hateful to me. Like, he mocking Shouto, relishing in his pain and failure to save his friend. That’s hate to me.
Personally my thoughts kind of stop there. Zero emotional connection between the two and that’s it. The notion of Dabi hating Shouto for replacing him was actually suggested to me by other people, I didn’t come up with it but I quite like it! It makes sense to me! I’m personally very interested in the idea that Dabi had some form of “attachment” to what Endeavor thought of him. I like to think that he genuinely cared about making Endeavor proud and about being the favourite and next in line, this is something that can happen in an abusive relationship and isn’t often explored in mainstream media (to my knowledge) so I’d like to see Hori’s take on that. So with that in mind, imagine how he would have felt when he is eventually tossed aside for a better son, one with a more perfect quirk and more perfect body. I think it fits very well with what we saw of Dabi so far (which isn’t much but still). I just talked about how I felt like the Dabi/Shouto interaction during the summer arc was extremely heinous and spiteful. The “too bad Todoroki Shouto” is Dabi thriving about the fact that his so perfect brother failed and lost. He grabbed the Bakugou marble before him, he beat him, he was better than him ... it’s a small victory, but it relishes it, and he knows that if he sticks with Shigaraki and the LOV he can get more and finally destroy his supposedly better brother and his family that he hates. All these years he felt alone, confused and betrayed, and now he family has the opportunity to be strongest and to burn them all.
That’s my take on it anyway!

My Hero Academia Chapter 210 Review
Well this was a short chapter, but hot damn is it a scary one.
We open on All Might taking the call from Gran Torino from last chapter. Gran Torino talks about how Nana had a dream after inheriting one for all. It seems that this was the same dream Izuku had at the beginning of the arc that told us of All for One and One for All’s origins.
We cut to Deku on the field. I’m going to kinda get ahead of myself, there is not much focus on the actual clash this chapter, so the pacing around it might come off as a little wonky. Deku is leaping through the air, while his team follows behind him.
We cut back to the crowd observing the clash.
Deku having to work harder than Bakugou is really just the theme of their relationship, are we surprised that someone verbalized it?
Anyway, good to notice that Iida and Todoroki are back from the infirmary, probably meaning Honenuki and Tetsutetsu are back. Iida points out that Deku’s formation looks similar to Bakugou’s, which given how Deku’s original fighting style was developed from watching Bakugou and All Might, this makes sense that they’d have a similar strategy.
According to Sero their evently balanced, but I gotta disagree. While both teams consist of an all around ace, Bakugou and Midoriya, Deku’s team has a lot more skill based team members. Sero was arguable the most skill based in Bakugou’s team, Jirou was mainly recon, and Satou was extra power. That’s an all around team. But Team Deku is more or less unbalanced in the sense they have one power player and 3 skill based users.
As we’ll see though, Deku is still scary thanks to the fact Team Monoma is almost all skill based and lacks any power player. Now also, Sero does point out that Deku lacks someone like Jirou who was able to find their locations which assisted in allowing Bakugou to take the lead without much worry. Deku instead is flying blind into this, having to draw out team Monoma on his own.
Then here’s the line about Deku working harder about Bakugou. I’m going to get back to this later so instead we’ll just cut back to the field where Team Deku is following behind him.
Deku’s plan is to draw out team Monoma and find their locations, he’s such a threat to them that there is no way they’d be able to ignore him. A barrel gets thrown at Deku and Deku identifies it as Yanagi’s quirk. Now, he’s an issue I have, and its basically in universe people seem to be aware of abilities we have never seen before. Now we got names for all of class 1-b’s quirks, but we didn’t know what they could do. Hell, no one seemed to know what Tokage’s ability was at first.
Now Deku is the most analytical in Class 1-A, so that likely means he might have notebooks and records on all of class 1-A’s quirks as well as 1-B’s from their training camp. Now we get a description of Yanagi’s quirk later, but right now, Deku immediately knows it.
Or does he???
Looks like that attack was Yanagi’s quirk and Monoma is using it. Monoma sttes that Deku is definitely a threat, but if he’s like Bakugou, then that means that he needs his team to draw out their full potential and not just work to support one member.
So unlike Tokage, Monoma is opting to instead of just try and draw them out, he’s on the offensive. As we see that Uraraka off screen has been attacked.
Monoma is taunting Deku and unfortunately, Monoma’s instigation tendecy make is hard to tell if this is all true, or if he’s actually copied Shinou and is going to try and brainwash Deku.
He even is sowing doubt into Deku by potentially saying their fine and that Urarak’s scream might’ve been Shinsou. In the end, Monoma has Deku locked right here, meaning unlike Bakugou, he can’t pick off their side one-by-one. I also gotta give shoutout to Monoma here, he is acting in such control here he’s actually quite threatening. I guess it goes to show that Monoma’s tendencies apply better on the battlefield then they do in social situations.
In social situations, Monoma either comes f like a jerk or a joke, but in battle he’s actually quite effective. Taunting and pushing opposing characters without seeming to try so hard like he does in normal situations.
Deku has luckily learned from his fight with Shinsou, and isn’t responding to anything he’s saying. Which is good. The Deku vs Shinsou fight was probably Deku at his dumbest, where even after being warned by Ojiro, Deku still fell for Shinsou’s ability. Now Deku was younger and a lot more naive, but now e’s able to not fall for it.
Monoma mentions how blessed people will destroy the world, and he’s not exactly wrong as someone who is gifted or has god given talents will likely change the world for better or worse, but Monoma opts to target Bakugou in this. He states that Bakugou is gifted, so gifted that in fact he got targeted by Shigaraki and ended up getting All Might to come in and lose the status of the symbol of peace.
Deku is clear irritated by this claim and attacks Monoma. However as we’ll see, Monoma might not be to far off by saying blessed people will destroy the world could apply to Deku
We cut to the other members of team Deku, with it revealed that yes, the scream wasn’t Uraraka, but Shinsou.
Mineta realizes that something’s coming as we see more nuts and bolts fly toward the group. This is actually the real Yanagi doing this, and we see Shoda is keeping track of all things in the area.
Kodai then decides to jump in and reveal that those objects have been effected by her quirk and grow bigger or smalle. Also, Kodai’s quirk is similar to Uraraka with them having to put their hands together.
Uraraka makes the objects float to avoid them doing damage, but Shoda activates his quirk which fires off the objects again. This causes the group to scatter, which joy, you saw what happened last match through that.
We now get an unload of info as we learn what their quirks are. Basically, Yanagi has telekinesis to an extent and Kodai is Ant Man. Or I guess Stature.
And Shoda... Has an OP as fuck quirk considering its range. Granted, you have to strike first to activate a second strike. I’m sad we don’t get their hero names, which was something team Tokage didn’t get either.
We cut back to All Might and Gran Torino and Gran Torino mentions to All Might that Nana had this same dream when she first inherited One for all. Even the same foggy image of the first user of One for All.
As this happens and we end the chapter, black lightning jets out of Deku’s arm as everyone watches in shock. Oooookay, where do I begin...?
So this lightning inst the same as his full cowling lightning because this actually seems to be physically manifesting and destroying part of his super hero outfit. Now the way All Might looks at this, it seems to imply he doesn’t quite understand it himself. Meaning possibly only holders like Deku and Nana who are odd numbered suffered this. Or this could just be Deku and AfO is just fucking with him. I have no answers, you could make any theory at this point. But yeah, that’s where we end. Well I can say I am very concerned and eager for next week.
Now with that said however, its time I revisit that “work harder than Bakugou” line. I don’t mind the idea of One for All having a hiccup, but the thing that bugs me is just how much this undermines Deku. This twist hurts because all throughout this arc, we’ve seen characters show off how much more stronger and plus ultra they’ve gotten. Tokoyami, Tsuyu, Todoroki, Iida, Bakugou, all got these fight to show how far they’ve come as characters. Now its Deku’s turn in the spotlight, and he’s losing control in front everyone. He;s not going to show off how competent he’s become from the start of the series, he’s now going to be seen as he was when he first joined the school, unable to control himself and destroying his limbs.
I respect that Hori doesn’t make Deku a protag who everyone is astounded by or automatically respected as a paragon of ideas, but come on, its been 200 chapters, let him show off and get some recognition. It just feels a bit like he’s being done dirty when last fight was all about how far Bakugou has come and last chapter laid on thick that Deku has truly grown. But no, cruch time he’s messing up. Now granted, this isn’t an asspull as we’ve been told One for All is acting strangely so this could’ve happened, I’m just saying I really would’ve preferred if this One for All stuff wasn’t interfering with the exercise. Now this could end with Deku ultimately winning because he’s gotten a ridiculous power boost, but still that feels cheap cause I think a lot would’ve wanted him to win on his own skill that he’s cultivated.
But who knows how Hori intends to handle this. Maybe he gets one smash out, and that’s it. Maybe he goes this entire round with this power, no clue.
Post Chapter Follow Up: Honestly this chapter felt really quick. It seemed to go so fast with a lot of info just rattled off. I’ll start with what was positive and that was definitely the character in this.
Monoma owns almost all of his scenes he’s in, as well as Uraraka taking charge after getting separated from Deku. Hell, just the little moments of Sero off to the side explaining the situation of team Deku.
I also must say, watching Bakugou and Aizawa become concerned over Deku’s power is really subtle and adds a lot of weight to the scene. Another thing is just class 1-B actually seeming like a threat, After how easily they got knocked around last round, this is a welcomed change.
If I had one thing to critique, the fight in this round is honestly pretty lack luster. It seems like a result of the pacing that it feels honestly very fast and not as focuses on as it should be. But you could say that the fight hasn’t truly started, as such it’s just laying some ground work.
It might sound as if I’m angry, with the Deku’s power going out of control, but honestly its not bad. Look I’m more concerned cause this is that moment in an arc when Hori makes everything completely batshit, and I do wanna know more about what will happen. I’m just little sad by the fact that for an arc that has shown so much growth, Deku is seemingly undermined. Now I can’t call that bad writing” as we don’t know where this’ll be going. So I’m just merely getting my opinion out there on this black lightning, but I’m not holding it against this chapter.
Final Verdict: 6/10
Little fast and little wonky
Great characterization
Nail biting ending
Not much is really done in this chapter, kinda an extension of last weeks breather more than anything

Just rambling here
Mha villains suck. They're just so dull to me. I really love humorous, over the top, dramatic villains. Darth Vader/the Emperor (star wars), Hisoka (HxH), Azula/Zuko (Atla), Adam (sk8), Joker (DC), etc.
Or very mysterious, calculated and dangerous villains like Chrollo (HxH), a whole bunch of the elves (BC), Geto (JJK), etc. AFO pretty much fits this category, too bad he's been imprisoned for the majority of the story.
What about a completely twisted irredeemable villains like Medusa (Soul Eater)?
The villains of My Hero Academia are so bland it's distasteful. The whole "society made me this way" trope is so over used and cringy I only really liked it with Joker.
Dabi and Shouto are clearly Azula/Zuko rip offs and it's so obvious (the abusive dad, mom gone, scar on the face, sibling a big bad villain, blue flames, etc).
Toga is literally so annoying I'm sick of seeing female villains who kill for love. Another over used trope which I bored to death off. Would've been cool to have a male character with her kind of backstory and attitude for a change in the trope of killing for love but whatever. Another boring ass female villain.
Shigaraki is like so lame? His goal is to destroy everything, cool I guess? What's new there? At least AFO wants to become a "Demon Lord" or whatever. Childish but not as common as destroying everything. Shigaraki is practically on Muzan level in terms of lameness in main villains.
Nagant is another boo-hoo society villain but her quirk is cool at least.
If you compare any league of villain members to the antagonists I listed above, or just compare the league to the Phantom Troupe, or the Dark Triad, they're just the lamest group of losers in history.
None of them have compelling backstories or goals. Everytime they talk about society I roll my eyes because they aren't really making much of a point. Shigaraki's monologue in the war arc was kinda dumb. Shame on people for wanting the authorities to protect them?
Compress was kinda cool. Convenient quirk, neat attitude. Spinner is okay too, sad he doesnt get much screen time.
Curious had so much potential. She was pretty over the top, she had a double life going on which would have been interesting to explore, a good design, a good quirk, and then she dies. What a waste.
Twice was kinda cool, the only one who was legally insane and was an adult with experience of being failed by society. (The others have hardly experienced society at all if they were villains at like 12). He tried experiencing life as a normal person and failed, so yes he did have society fail him. Can't say the same for the others. Plus twice *was* just unlucky everything went wrong for him. Still I hate the whole "all it takes is one bad day" thing hori had going on. Please have some originality.
Solid.
I only disagree about Dabi, I quite like his character. He was mysterious in the beginning. He still is. I’m curious about his hidden secrets. But the main reason is that he didn’t change his beliefs after one encounter with good guys. I really want him to stay like he is till the very end. It would highlight him, making special in a way?
AFO has great potential to surprise. Again my least favorite cliche is good guy vs bad guy “naruto style” talk where the bad guy suddenly realizes “oh fuck, this guy is right, my whole life was a mistake”. So I’m begging for a different outcome. Also that is why I don’t like lady Nagant character that much. I mean she’s cool. When she appeared the first time I was like “oh finally the bad ass lady!!!” But then again, 2 minutes is enough to change that. 🤷🏻♀️
I wonder what’s the Stain deal rn. Tell me he didn’t switched sides pls.
P.s (Azula and Geto🖤🖤🖤)
P.s2 thanks for this ask, honestly. I enjoy reading people’s rambling!

Blog #48 – Finding the Sweet Spot in Work-Life Balance
As we head into the 2017-18 athletics year, I thought I would share some thoughts on maintaining a balance in your life for all of those in leadership positions in the world of athletics. Actually, these are thoughts and beliefs that are good for anyone that is a busy professional!
I came across this statement on LinkedIn the other day:
Idea of the Day: Work and life won’t be balanced all the time — but it could be over the long term. “If you want to achieve anything big, the chances are your life will get seriously out of balance for a while,” explains GLOBIS founder and president Yoshito Hori.
There is no question that it is very difficult to have your life in perfect balance all of the time. I am working on a second book on the fundamentals of leadership to follow up my first book, Anchor Up, Competitive Greatness the Grand Valley Way. Consider this blog piece a preview of a section on being balanced in your life as well as in leadership. As the quote above says though, being balanced can be very difficult, but there are some things you can do to try to stay in balance as much as possible.
Most people function best when they have some balance in their life, and that’s not always easy to achieve. Your family is important, your work is important, your health is important, your spiritual life is important, and your social life is important, etc. I don’t know about you, but when I neglect one of these areas of my life, not-so-good things tend to happen.
If you’re a workaholic, then you tend to neglect your family life and health. There’s nothing wrong with working hard and being committed to achieving your full potential. But you must have balance in your life to truly reach your full potential as a leader for the long term!
On a daily basis, finding time for all of these important things in your life might be difficult. Some days are just busier than others at work and you don’t have time for other things. Perhaps it would help if you think of the entire week and while you may be working on a big project at work that is taking up the vast majority of your time that Monday through Friday, get away from it and find family time on the weekend, or a Friday night dinner with your spouse, partner or significant other.
You might be like me as well in that there are times you MUST have some privacy. There are moments as a leader when EVERYONE is vying for your time and attention and you just need to get away from people for a while. In order to get some privacy, here are a few things I did to help “balance” me:
· I would always get up early in the morning before the rest of my household so I could have a devotional time as well as do some reading while having my morning coffee and breakfast. I am usually up between 5:00 and 6:00am most mornings so I use that time to get “centered”. My reading during the day to day grind was books on “other” subjects than my own, which was my career in college athletics. During the summer months was when I would read books on leadership or sports to improve as a professional, and yes, there were times I did that during the sport seasons as well, but I attempted to get some balance in my brain by getting away from sports during the heat of the battle. If you work in a profession not in sports, perhaps you might read sports books to get your mind off work (Hey, I have a good suggestion for you – go to www.fivecountpub.com/anchorup! J). Maybe you are a night owl and not an early bird like me. If so, use that time after 9:00pm when the world quiets down to get off of your email accounts and social media and exercise your brain with reading material NOT of your profession. Be balanced!
· Speaking of exercise, ANY exercise is a great way to balance your workload with a healthy activity. You’ll find it will bring mental and emotional balance too by doing some exercise during the work week. Again, do what works for you! I love to go for walks of 45 minutes to an hour. I do some of my best thinking when I am on a “power” walk. Most of the speeches I’ve given have been written in my mind while walking. This past summer I began practicing yoga. I wish I would have begun practicing yoga thirty years ago during my heyday as a professional! It is a GREAT way to get a great workout in while finding balance in your entire being! Be balanced!
· Going back to the quote at the top, all of us have a “busy season” and we also have a “down season”. Ok, some of you are saying you never have a down time, but if you think about, there are times in every one’s work life that aren’t as busy as others. So you have to look at those times as opportunities to find some balance and put emphasis on the areas of your life other than your work life. I think the Europeans have that figured out better than we do in this country. I have always gotten the impression that they take at least 6 weeks of vacation each year. That seems like a lot but I am an advocate of 4 weeks of vacation. For me July was the “down time”. As my career unfolded, I found it helpful to take two straight weeks of vacation in July every summer. I learned that I was just winding down near the end of week one. If I went back to work after one week, I didn’t feel re-charged. If I took two straight weeks, I would really get re-charged in week two and I would be ready and anxious to get back to work! That is how you should feel after a break! So take your vacations to balance out all of those days of work! Be balanced!
· I can hear some of you saying, “but I feel better when I am working and when I take time off I’m bored and get stressed from the boredom”. Yes, we are all different and each of us must find our way of achieving balance in our lives, but sorry, I’m not buying that, as THE LEADER, you cannot find something else to occupy your mind and time and be a better leader for it. Maybe it is just reading novels for a week or going camping or traveling away from home or visiting family. Success in leadership is dependent on YOU, the leader, not being burnt out. YOU, the leader, must bring energy every day. YOU, the leader, set the tone for your organization. YOU, the leader, demonstrate to your staff that you can be successful while striving for balance in your life. For every person who brags about the 80 hour work weeks he/she is doing I’ll show you someone who has something wrong in another area of their life and eventually, it catches up and destroys them. Think long term! Be balanced!
· I was fortunate to have had the late John Savage as a mentor. You’ll read some wisdom I gained from John in Anchor Up, Competitive Greatness the Grand Valley Way, as well as in my next book. John was a giant in the life insurance industry. If you are in life insurance, it is a MUST that you google John Savage’s books on selling life insurance and buy them. You and your agency will become better for it. John had a couple of sayings that illustrate the kind of balance I’m talking about. One is, “Work eight hours, sleep eight hours – just don’t confuse the two.” That’s a great one! Be balanced!
Stay tuned for my next book on leadership in which I discuss finding balance in one’s life in greater detail among other fundamentals for successful leadership. In the meantime, think long term in finding balance in your life. It is rare to have life in complete and total balance all of the time, but over time, be disciplined enough to seek ways to be balanced. You WILL become a better leader if you do! Be balanced!

I just wanted to say that one of the real stand out parts of Something Good for me is the way you describe Decay as like, actually decaying. It's really horrifying to think about the whole rotting process it goes through before it turns to dust and I really think that makes Tomura's fear of it so much more vivid. Because like, if stuff just kind of disintegrates yeah its scary and its not there anymore but having to watch the whole process of decay...yikes. I love it so much. Such great writing!
Oh ow thank you so much!!!
I’m genuinely super happy that you caught that because I thought a lot about it for the fic, and I think a lot about in general in the canon.
I think that Tomura’s quirk is just really fascinating! First for story/narrative/character reasons because it really gives another depth to his character. This is a boy that was born to destroy. And not in a cool flashy way like All Might, Bakugou or Todoroki, but in a “gross” way that completely affects his interaction with the rest of the world. Whether it’s truly his, or it was given to him by AFO to manipulate him easily like some theories suggest, it’s something that affects him as a person, and shaped him into who he is today.
I think his quirk is brilliant writing on Horikoshi’s part because it’s genuinely scary, threatening, and “villain like”but also, because he can’t control it, very sad and isolating. It fits with Tomura’s character: you’re meant to both fear him and pity him, hate him and sympathize with him. (Of course, there are dumbassess like me who only love him to death … but yeah).
And honestly? For shigadabi/shigaraki author like me, that’s GOLD because it allows so many analysis, so much struggle, and conflict … So much potential development and ideas and themes and notions to play with!!!
And yes, to go back to your message, I really enjoyed going this road for his quirk. The thing is that in canon, we’re not 100000% sure of how his quirk works. Like, the speed and way of propagation changed a lot between Tomura’s fight with Aizawa and his attack on Overhaul. (Either as a canon evolution of the quirk or as an inconsistency). But also, it seems to not just be disintegration, because when he touched Stain’s sword and other metallic objects, it rusts before falling apart. So that would be decay right? Kind of close to Eri’s quirk (I see ur parallels Hori, the have the fucking same color scheme), because it would be time-based, acceleration of decomposition. And yet that’s not how it worked on Aizawa, he arms crumbled like stone … So what’s up with that?
Anyway, all of this nonsense to say that Tomura’s quirk is not super duper explicit yet and therefore it’s fun to play with. And what really fascinates me about Tomura’s quirk is the idea of … well, decay. Exactly like you said, it’s horrifying to think about that process of decomposition and rotting. It seemed especially fitting when he came to food and Tomura’s issue with it (and later down the line, even more when it came to touching Dabi). I really wanted to give the idea of a slow disgusting process that would be terrifying for everyone to watch, especially Tomura himself. Just imagine a 4-year-old kid having to deal with that? Not to sound heartless, but again, that’s writing gold!!!!
Aaaaaaah I’m sorry I rambled for way too long, but I love talking about my fic (wow narcissistic much right?). But thanks again for your message I’m so happy it had an impact on you!

Hey, since you talked about your feelings on td//dk and kr//bk (which were super interesting to read btw!) do you have anything to say about opinions on k//cchako?
Hey there! :) And thank you! So let’s see…Uraraka andKacchan. I see fan content of them on my dash fromtime to time, but it rarely garners any deeper thought, so I often just scrollpast with little to no reaction. Simply put: I don’t harbor enough investmentor interest in them as a ship. Even so! Yes, I still have opinions about them, so I’ll try to go in depth here.
From their limited amount of canon interactions together, therewere actually two noteworthy scenes of them that I really liked. 1.) During theirmatch in the Sports Festival, and 2.) the databook omake situated after Deku andKacchan’s fight vs All Might. (However, in both cases, their interactionsrevolved around Deku, so…)
I liked their match in the Sports Festival because it wasone of the first times we get to see another side of Kacchan – an important one thatreveals some of his honor code. Fighting seriously against a girl, thateveryone else in the audience assumed was ‘weak and frail’ based onappearances, and therefore automatically judged their match barbaric andunfair…well. Aizawa (Dadzawa), and Uraraka herself, proved them wrong. Urarakaproved her grit and Kacchan treated her as a legitimate threat regardless ofgender stereotypes. (Actually, he approached their match seriously and cautiouslybecause he thought she had a planfrom Deku.) Further acknowledging herstrength with the ‘what part of her was frail?’ comment too.
It’s herewhere I thought, ‘nice, this is a guythat can be trusted, because he earnestly puts his all into the things he’sserious about and expects the same -the best-from his opponents in return.’ (If they don’t,he interprets that as them underestimating or looking down on him.) Without anyother ulterior factors swaying him, there’s a steadfast consistency and honorto that kind of focused mindset, both in how he handles himself and impartially approaches thethings that matter to him, which makes him predictably trustworthy in the long run. (Also meaning, if there’s ever anyfault/betrayal in that mindset, it’s a break in character…which ayyy, Deku willtake notice! ;D)
However, I took the Sports battle and these establishing traits(Uraraka’s grit and Kacchan’s honor) as separate strengths respective to each character, rather than anything shippy.Because Uraraka ultimately fought for herself (and her parents) while Kacchanproved he’d take any girl (anyone)seriously if they show proper worth and challenge respect. So it wasn’thim showing special treatment for Uraraka in particular, but an example of hishonest and impartial competitive sportsmanship.
Now we have Uraraka thankful that Kacchan took herseriously, and therefore she’s unafraid to confront/approach him on her ownterms -as equals- later. Which is good! :D And it’s why I like the omakecontent of them so much, where she questions him about his behavior in the endof term test:
Uraraka: “It’s like you’re intimidating (Deku) because you’re scared and wanthim to go away from you.”
It’s greatbecause her intuition can clearly read through him: Kacchan purposely singles out and keepsDeku at bay because he fears how Deku makes him feel. Like, boom! She totallycalls him out. ;D BUT…I didn’t read this interaction of theirs as shippy either, because it revolved around Deku AND showed how much Uraraka is in support of their reconciled friendship. She WANTSthem to get along! (If anything, it makes hermore like their wingman… So ayy, bothshe and Kiri would be supportive of their repaired relationship!)
So, from these two canon interactions (only one was a significant event in the manga by the way…), I see the potential basis for a refreshing m/f friendship, where shecan mentally joust and bicker with him without any major consequence. However,as a romantic ship, no; it’s not enough to convince me.
Aside from how limited their canon interactions are, and howin both cases they revolvedaround Deku…the two of them have other canon characteristics to consider. Notonce has Kacchan ever shown interestin any girls in ‘that’ way (or really, invested interest in anyone other than Deku)…and Uraraka hasher utterly transparent feelings for Deku to resolve. Already, that starts themin separate, opposed lanes with respect to their connection to Deku. So whenconsidering them as a ship instead, Ihave to repeatedly ask myself howthey’d ever manage to merge onto the same lane, and what that would even entail, narratively.
Because what wouldit mean? Would Uraraka’s feelings for Deku simmer down to sisterly affectionsof support and admiration, leaving her to choose the immediate second option:Deku’s riv–…wait a sec, what aboutKacchan’s feelings for Deku? (This is writing off that same elephant in the room issue I talkedabout in my previous post…) Are theyboth actually rivals for Deku’s affections?! XD Would Uraraka choose to bewith Kacchan, for the sake of helpinghim ‘get over’ his feelings for Deku too?? WAIT hold on. This is the SAME thingI talked about with kr/bk: it is notUraraka (or Kiri’s) business, or even their responsibility, to forcibly butt-in with the hopes of ‘changing’ or ‘fixing’ Kacchan’s problems/bad behavior FOR him.Except in Uraraka’s case, there’s theadded, antiquated gendered trope of the ‘good girl’ saving the ‘bad boy’ at theexpense of her own wellbeing. Sacrificing her own happiness to care for him fulltime. Which…oh no. Urarakadoesn’t deserve such a harsh fate like that. And Kacchan is not there to become a ‘pet project’ to coddle and change at theexpense of his feelings either. Theseare all some of the main arguments against the ship that I’ve seen, and I agreethat I’m definitely not interested in seeing a one-sided/harmful relationshipdynamic perpetuate like that…but I still have one final, personal dealbreaker.
Which is how Kacchan (my fav) ultimately becomescharacterized. And it relates to his ‘honor code’ established IN his fightagainst Uraraka too. Consider how Hori likely designed Deku and Uraraka to bethe ‘obvious’ endgame het pairing…with them having ongoing, mutual crushes oneach other (truthfully, I really only see fledgling, one-sided flustered admiration/envyfrom Uraraka’s side…) Now then, HOW does this make Kacchan look in turn, forhim to step in between them like this? If he knows they’re friends who like each other, would he really purposely step in to sabotageDeku’s chances with the object of his affections (Uraraka)? No way, not even outof potential spite against Deku or something. It would betray the very consistent and steadfast ‘trust’ about hischaracter that I talked about before.
Because Kacchan’s a gruff asshole ingeneral, but THIS (essentially ‘stealing’ Deku’s crush) would be an underhanded dick move of a whole new lowfor him. Completely at odds with his established character development. He outrighttells villains how he despisesunderhanded tactics like cheating and lying! Doing something like this would contradictand destroy his own ideals. Even if he somehow had a crush on Uraraka (which would already be a stretch andsuspension of disbelief, since he’s never shown any interest in girls likethat anyway) he’d do everything in his power to stay in his own lane and continueaiming for his goal as the top hero. Kacchan lives by his own strict standards andperfectionism in his drive to become the best. He’s an asshole, but not that other kindof asshole. Whenever I see shippy fan content of kac/chako being together atthe expense of Deku, this is the kindof asshole it makes Kacchan appear to me, which is a mischaracterization Ican’t tolerate. It’s a reason I haven’t seen other people talk about, but it’s alwaysbeen in the back of my mind, and probably the main reason why the idea of theirship rubs me the wrong way.
Whew, but thankfully, I don’t see any signs from Hori that they’llbecome endgame. (And it’s why most fan content of them slides past like water off a duck for me.) Truthfully and honestly,I really want Hori to step up Uraraka’s game, to make her a fully fleshed out characterand therefore, a viable contender in either of the boys’ hearts. Because atthe rate she’s going…she’s falling behind to the wayside compared to how Hori’sdeveloping Deku and Kacchan’srelationship. And she’ll have a tough time displacing the lifelong feelingsDeku has had for Kacchan, unless she does something drastic. (Ayyyy so where’sthat one traitor theory~)
Honestly, using Uraraka (or any girl actually) as shipfodder for the boys, just because of her gender, is something I’m not a fan of.I would rather be a fan of Uraraka based on the merits of her own character, and not from her designation as a satellite love interest to anyone. But IF Urarakahad to end up with anyone endgame, I would muchprefer her with either Iida or Tsuyu. Both of them are loyal and good friendswho would treat her with respect and provide needs in the way she deserves.
Alright! I think that covers everything. This actually got alot longer than anticipated. XD Thanks for reading!
#Anonymous#replies#bnha#kacchan#uraraka#shipping#meta#this one comes to about 1500 words#honestly longer than i expected :O#but i think that covers everything i like; prefer; and observe about the characters

This is so delicious
I can't stop thinking about how Izuku and Tomura have both been dehumanized AND have dehumanized themselves. They looked at the people trying to stop them and said "I'm fine, I don't need help" and just kept being in denial about it. Tomura's still there with that, and Izuku has mostly got out of it I guess? With the Rogue arc at least
