Roofs in .flow

There are a few rooftop locations in .flow, all with a similar look. (The roof from each ending, school roof, apartments and reverse apartments)

The first two are like ‘final confrontation spots’ imo and the last two are interesting to me in the fact that both roofs have a teleporter, which is somewhat morbid if you connect it to certain suicidal themes, but also having many teleport blocks in random locations is common in Yume Nikki fangames

I bring it up, though, because the scenes with smile and Sabitsuki both have them looking beyond the railing in a seemingly contemplative manner. It’s also interesting because smile seems to be without his eye markings yet has his hammer

My thoughts are still underdeveloped, but I just wanted to make a post to invite anyone else to comment if they’d like!

Random minor Dragalia Thoughts(tm):

As we know from the whole Leonidas+Mars thing, dragons consider alchemy to be a big no-no (for themselves to use, at least, but I'm guessing they themselves in reality don't tend to discriminate what's a no-no only for them vs humanity, 'what's good for the goose' sort of idea):

...But, as revealed in chapter two of all places, Phares has an official named job. That job? Court Alchemist.

So, in a very real sense, to most dragons, Phares' job is officially 'Chief Blasphemer'!

With this in mind, here's him showing off what dragons perceive his ID badge to look like:

That aside, as an additional little joke, we don't get much describing what alchemy in dragalia involves aside from the likely idea that it's their proto-version of chemistry, but we do have this weapon description:

With this in mind, I will make the very very improbable guess/joke/theorizing that maybe it's taboo for dragons because they, as the pinnacle of the natural order as essentially manifestations of nature, think themselves perfect already. "B-but mommy told me I'm perfect just the way I am!" sort of collective thinking driving the taboo.

So for humans, it's only natural and acceptable for them to look for perfection, something far beyond them, which is why it's acceptable among humanity (the Ilian church has a strong grip over Alberia, and I doubt they'd knowingly let the royal family do something so blasphemous if it wasn't okay for humans). Thus, Phares is okay doing his own thing as Uranus watches in curiosity from the sidelines. But as soon as a human gets alchemy entangled with a dragon, ie, Mars, then it's a big no-no.

okay so as soon as i saw this meme i knew i had to do it for alucard......... he deserves it tbh!! so to explain my choices a bit - gliscor is the closest thing to a "vampire" type pokemon i could find, so that was an obvious choice. aegislash is a reference to alucard's sword, while zoroark is a pokemon that can shapeshift and is also known for it's strength in general, so it thought it kind of fit. primeape and hatterene are a little different - i honestly chose them because I imagine alucard stumbled upon them and they reminded him of trevor and sypha. primeape isn't exactly the best choice for trevor, lmao, but maybe it's temper reminds alucard of trevor's course attitude a bit?? idk. (I am not a trevor expert, I still need to watch the first castlevania series!) hatterene is a bit more obvious for sypha due to the association with magic there (though again, not an expert for her.) and with houndoom we go back to the more "classic" alucard aesthetic LMAO, with houndoom both fitting alucard's vibes over all as well as being a wolf, which alucard can obviously transform into himself!

maria's team!! there's less explanation needed for most of these, since they're pretty much all based on the various creatures she summons. i decided to give her two dragons because She Deserves It, but also to symbolize the light and dark dragons she fights with in nocturne season 2. marowak, though... i chose marowak because it's specifically stated to be grieving it's mother, who's skull belonged to her... i think maria would be able to sympathize with that a lot and would want to give marowak a home.

Heya! So, I'm not super familiar with Hypmic, but I figured I'd ask someone who's into it- What's the best place to start for getting into it? I'm only even half-certain of what it all is, tbh.

'Course!! So I'm still relatively new to the franchise myself so I'm definitely not going to be your be all and end all source for this. That said!

Basic plot synopsis:

It's a post-WW3 world and the warmongering government has been brought to heel by the power of all-women political organization known as the Party of Words, lead by the stoic Otome Tohoten. Using the newly developed Hypnosis Microphones, Otome demonstrates their devastating effects - less than lethal soul manipulation capable of torturing grown men into submission - on the Prime Minister, initiating a coup and bringing about the dawn of the H. Era. All lethal weaponry is banned and the only way to fight is with the power...of rap.

Establishing this new woman-led government, Otome further divides Japan into divisions, with Chuoku being the central seat of power where only women (and particularly women who work for the government) are allowed. Everyone else, including civilian women and all men are exiled to the outer divisions, where they must fight for control with the usage of the Microphones...and also it has to be via rap bc that's just where we're at.

At first, said Microphones are handed out willy-nilly, as all structure and government outside of Chuoku has been stricken to zero. Want a house? Rap for it. Need to defend your house from someone who wants to take it? Rap for it. Powerful individuals form gangs and eventually those gangs turn into organizations representing entire divisions. At the height of the consolidation of local divisions under the largest of the powers, Chuoku makes another announcement: rapping is no longer a free for all.

To ensure the safety of the public and to add order to chaos, Microphones are now only allowed to be used by those personally selected by the government. Moreover, the established divisions will now have a fixed set of representatives - a trio of rappers for each division. And lastly, these divisions must compete in the Division Rap Battle, a gladiatorial event in which the territories of each division are now officially decided by who wins and who loses.

The winner gets to take pieces of the other divisions' territories, expanding their power and influence, and also get a shitton of cash.

And thus begin the adventures of Hypnosis Mic!

Genrewise, I'd compare the tone to a delinquent manga with light sci-fi/fantasy elements. The plot is pretty thin and it's mostly just an excuse to serve up some really good characters and excellent music, which is what we're actually here for.

SO. WHERE TO START?

The CDs! THE primary format for HypMic and the base canon are the albums, as HypMic is first and foremost a music project. They are all free to listen to on Spotify!

It is very important to listen to the Drama Tracks, as those are your main story! On youtube, there is a playlist of all the Drama Tracks arranged in chronological order for easy listening, and all Drama Track translations can be found on the Wiki right here, also conveniently organized in chronological order.

Afterwards, if you're really interested in the characters and story, I recommend reading the manga! It does a great job fleshing out a lot of the aspects of each group, including important backstory information that isn't included in the tracks!

The manga is canon, so everything in it is relevant!

The events of the story are currently split into the First and Second Division Rap Battles. Ideally, you listen to the 1st DRB tracks, then read the manga that correspond to those (called "BB/MTC", "FP/M", "BAT/DH" and the important prequel manga "TDD". And yes that is what they're called those aren't just abbreviations lmao.)

Afterwards, listen to the remaining tracks and then read the rest of the manga! ("BB/MTC+", "FP/M+", "BAT/DH+", and a second prequel manga "DoD")

Don't worry as all the manga are relatively short and the drama CDs release very slowly. Once you catch up you'll stay caught up for a while, so take your time!

The anime, game, stage plays, etc. are all non-canon, so don't worry about those. You can enjoy them on your own free time if you get invested!

I've written a lot but the tl;dr is:

Listen to the CDs, read the Manga, then go wild on whatever else you want! And remember, the entire thing is very, very silly, so have fun!

I recently bought the full collection of the "Scythe" series by Neal Shuterman because I was like "Oh yeah I used to be obsessed with that series but they only had the first few books at my local library" and upon rereading it. I'm reminded of how much merit the idea of a Scythe x Naruto crossover has. I would read the fuck out of that au. Especially with the Uchiha as Scythes? With *Itachi* as a Scythe? Pls.

The scene where the elder scythe tells the mc that the first requirement to be a Scythe is to not want to be one. Tell me that doesn't have Itachi written all over it.

Man. A fic that follows Itachi going from a child curious about human nature in a world so perfected. To an apprentice trying to grasp the concept of what makes a kill 'righteous' or 'evil' for himself as he trains behind probably either Danzo, Madara, or Orochimaru. Him becoming a full fledged scythe and trying his damndest to fit into a world he doesn't want to be in.

Not to mention his motivation could be to become one in order to assure Sasuke gets eternal immunity. Danzo recruiting him to be his student with the reminder that if he accepts. Itachi will never have to fear for his brother's safety again.

Just. There's so many overlaying themes. That would be so fun to see explored.

I just saw perhaps the coolest art installation I have ever heard of.

This is a perfectly normal pin. On the head of it are 2.417 quintillion angels, give or take a few billion.

Joe Davis and Sarah Khan, the artist behind Baitul Ma’mur, (House of Angels) encoded the Arabic phrase “Subhan Allah” onto synthesized DNA, and then used that DNA to coat the head of a pin. According to some traditions, any time Subhan Allah is said or written, it creates an angel. With DNA being as dense an information storage medium as it is, this single pin has more created angels on it than have ever been born from human throats across all of human history.

And then in a fucking genius move, the art installation takes the form of a functional vending machine, loaded with an impossibly large quantity of angels. For $25, which goes right to the artists, you can buy a pin. I’m thinking about taking mine out of the test tube sometime and encasing it in resin to turn it into the highest % angel by volume earring ever worn, but that’s a project for the future.

There isn’t much else I can say that isn’t said by the documentation accompanying the exhibit. The photos aren’t the BEST quality but they should hopefully be mostly legible.

As of right now this installation is located at the MIT Museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and if you’re ever in the area you should totally check it out
