It saddens me to see how people are so restricted by their self-limiting beliefs, so shackled by what "others" think of them. It took me a long time to arrive at the doorstep of this wonderful anthem, "Don't listen to them, they don't know you like you do..." We may feel frustrated and infuriated by such fears and judgements, but knowing that these reactions come from a past of being hurt and betrayed, a past where trust was plundered by some vagabond soul, helps to detox my own judgement and stand still enough in this whirlwind of he says she says, and I am grateful for the universal assignment for my spiritual growth, for teaching me how to meet such mortal moments with love and compassion, and to lean always into love and truth. #rosetintedthoughts #loveandlight #hopeandgrace #meditation #satnam #theuniversehasyourback #judgementdetox #believe #motivation (at Myeongdong Shopping Street)

Happy Birthday to this Ray of Light

Happy birthday, Eva Martino aka, The Happily Eva! While we’ve only shared cocktails once at Hôtel Plaza Athénée New York during New York Fashion Week, worked on the philosophy #HopeAndGraceinitiative in separate cities across the country at the same time, and only met - oh - TWICE (😳), you are one of those friends who makes an impression and indelibly touches my daily life thanks to our friendship - and, our shared honesty and vulnerability - on social media. It’s no easy feat but you manage to speak from the heart, run a business, run a household, raise children, love a husband, do some good in the world, share some killer makeup tutorials and still look fabulous while doing it.💁🏼‍♀️ But the best part? It’s when you DON’T feel fabulous. It’s when you share where you’re at at that precise second - beat, broken, sick, tired - and, share it with your friends and followers, and somehow find the time - in a day with too few hours - to shake your head and laugh about it. You’re also the girl who starts an app, creates a shirt for me that says “Do-Gooder” and makes time on a busy, rare date night in the city with your husband to make time for quick cocktails with a friend in from LA whom you’ve only met once. And, that of course, makes me want to share many more cocktails together.🍸 All this is to say to you, Eva... Thanks for being kind. Thanks for being funny. Thanks for being beautiful. Thanks for being real. Thanks for being you. Thanks for sharing your light with us. BIG NEWS! Live Through This was chosen as a grant recipient from the hope & grace fund, a project of New Venture Fund, in partnership with the global women’s skincare brand, @lovephilosophy. The hope & grace fund is built from 1% of revenue of philosophy products, and issues grants to organizations and initiatives of all sizes that are making a real impact in the world of mental health. This grant will allow me to redesign the Live Through This website with added search/categorization functionality; increase my team size by one extra human to expedite publication of 52 stories (that's one a week (!) —anyone who's been intimately involved in the project knows I move slowly because I primarily work alone and I'm a perfectionist); and create four brand new multimedia stories of women in underrepresented communities. I am so, so, so excited that the hope & grace fund recognizes the value of Live Through This, and I just published the first story sponsored by this grant today! Find Your Light

It's late, and I have an early day tomorrow. But I can't go to bed without sharing some light from this beautiful day. As I walked into @figandolive this morning to host and emcee the Hope & Grace Luncheon with Philosophy & Zelda Williams, the first thing I saw was light.✨ A room FILLED with light. I don't think that was an accident. It was the perfect place to shine light on a subject that needs some light shone on it: Mental Health Awareness. I found myself sharing from my heart in a way that - at least, publicly - I never had before. I even surprised myself by sharing memories I didn't even know I remembered, and didn't expect to recall today. I shared about my early struggles with eating disorders and the depression and hopelessness I experienced just 6 years ago when I just needed to "win a little," and yet seemed to keep losing again and again and again until it felt like I would never "win." Looking back at those times from this view today, it seems like both another lifetime, and yet also like a part of me that will always be with me... Watching. Growing. Learning. Smiling at who I am now. And, feeling proud that not only did I heal and grow, but that I make it my mission to inspire others to share their stories, and live in their truths. I told the filled room today, "When you feel the most broken is when the light can shine in...because there are all these little cracks where that light can just reflect back at you, and you can see the potential in yourself that maybe you've never seen before." So, my darling, darling ones, don't you ever be afraid of being broken. Break apart. Put yourself back together. Break apart again. Find the support you need. And, let your light SHINE.
