in honour of halloween, imagine when all the guys and moms get together to take their kids trick or treating and willy’s baby is a little too small to walk so they take it trick or treating in a cute onesie costume oh my goshhhh
Oh babe, I’m in such a Dad!Willy mood at the moment and this is so perfect 😍
Please allow me introduce Eliot’s first Halloween - and please don’t judge me too much for allowing a less than a year old to try chocolate 🙈👻 happy late Halloween ❤️ (yes, William will be forced to dress up even though he’s not really into it 😂)
Tropes & warnings: no warnings, except overload cuteness! Dad!Willy x reader, baby!Eliot, Halloween

A Spooktacular First Halloween 🎃 | dad!willy x reader ✐
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden-orange and violet glow across the neighbourhood as Halloween night officially began. The crisp autumn air carried the earthy scent of fallen leaves, and you couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. This was Eliot’s first Halloween, and you’d spent the past hour putting together costumes, arranging sweets, and hanging decorations around the house, hoping to make it memorable. Finally, you scooped Eliot into your arms, his tiny jack-o’-lantern costume puffed up around him, and smiled.
“Alright, little pumpkin,” you said warmly, adjusting the small green hat on his head, “are you ready for your first Halloween adventure?”
Eliot, barely a year old, looked up with wide blue eyes that sparkled with curiosity. A giggle escaped him as he reached for the soft, round fabric of his costume. The oversized onesie was perfect, with its cute jack-o’-lantern face on the front and his little hat bouncing slightly as he moved. And as you finished adjusting his outfit, William entered the room with a grin, dressed as a scarecrow. He wore a plaid shirt with frayed edges, a floppy hat, and patches sewn onto his jeans. Straw poked out from under his shirt cuffs, giving him a charming, rustic look. You couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of him.
You knew William wasn’t always a fan of dressing up, but he’d made an exception this year. After all, it was Eliot’s first Halloween, and you’d convinced him to join in by going as a “dead farmer’s girl” to match his costume. He looked every bit the part, and you could see he was having fun with it, too.
“There’s my little pumpkin,” William cooed, reaching over to tickle Eliot’s chin, making him squeal with laughter. “Ready for harvesting?”
“Who knew my boyfriend could look this adorable in straw and patches?” you teased, straightening his shirt. “You’re really pulling that off.”
“Just trying to keep up with our little pumpkin here,” he replied, chuckling as he held Eliot’s tiny hand. Eliot clutched his father’s finger, his blue eyes wide with wonder as he took in the costumes around him. “Besides, they don’t call me ‘Styles’ for nothing - I can pull anything off, baby.”
“Oh, I’m sure you can.”
You laughed, feeling that warm mix of love and joy for this wonderful, slightly ridiculous man who was now both your partner and the father of your child.
Then gathering up Eliot’s tiny candy bucket, you made your way to the car, where William had packed a few extra treats for the evening ahead. You settled Eliot into his car seat, and soon, you were off to a friend’s house—a teammate’s wife who always hosted the Halloween gatherings.
As you arrived, the glow of carved pumpkins, cobweb-covered bushes, and a life-sized skeleton greeted you at the entrance. Inside, the house was buzzing with laughter, excited chatter, and the squeals of costumed children running about, clutching their sweets. Aryne Tavares welcomed you in with a warm smile, guiding you to where the other families had gathered in the spacious living room.
Parents and kids alike were dressed up in every imaginable costume, from fairies and superheroes to tiny vampires. Each child eagerly showed off their outfit, and Eliot’s pumpkin onesie was met with delighted laughter and adoring comments. He took it all in with big eyes, captivated by the bright costumes and cheerful faces around him. For a moment, he simply stared, his mouth open in awe, before giving an excited babble.
Once everyone was assembled, Aryne clapped her hands, corralling the lively bunch of parents and kids. “Alright, trick-or-treaters!” she announced. “We’re heading down the main street, then looping back. For the littler ones, we’ll take turns carrying them if they get tired.”
“Sounds perfect,” you said with a smile, glancing down at Eliot, who was babbling away, completely clueless but clearly delighted by all the fuss.
The group made their way down the street together, and you held Eliot close, his tiny bucket clutched in one hand. He gazed at the houses around him, each one decked out in spooky decorations, flickering jack-o’-lanterns, and even a few dancing skeletons.
At the first house, the older children bounded up the porch, shouting “trick or treat!” Eliot looked on in amazement, his eyes widening as a friendly neighbour cooed over him, dropping a handful of candy into his bucket.
“Oh, look at this little pumpkin!” she said, reaching down to ruffle Eliot’s hat. His face lit up with delight, his tiny hand reaching for the candy wrappers as he babbled with excitement.
House after house, Eliot’s amazement only grew. He was entranced by the glowing lanterns, fluttering fake bats, and the cheerful shouts of his friends. Sometimes he pointed, sometimes he babbled, and every so often, he reached out to clutch your finger, completely absorbed in the magic of Halloween.
You and William took turns carrying him, his tiny feet kicking with excitement each time a new, decorated porch came into view. Then after a while, William suggested a short break. “Let’s give our pumpkin a little rest,” he said, nodding toward a nearby bench.
You sat down, settling Eliot on your lap and offering him a small foil-wrapped chocolate from his bucket. He held it carefully, examining the shiny wrapper as though it was the most fascinating thing in the world. William chuckled, unwrapping it for him and handing him a small piece. Eliot took a tentative nibble, his face lighting up with surprise and joy as the taste of chocolate registered.
“First Halloween, first taste of chocolate,” William said softly, leaning back to take in the sight of his son enjoying this simple treat.
Eventually, the group returned to the Tavares house, and the kids gathered in the living room, tipping out their overflowing candy buckets onto the carpet. Eliot crawled over to join them, his little fingers exploring the colourful pile in front of him, completely mesmerised.
William caught your gaze, a tender smile on his face. He leaned in close, his arm wrapping around your shoulders. “So, what do you say—maybe next year we’ll have two little pumpkins to dress up?”
You knew William had been ready for a bigger family ever since Eliot came along. The way he lit up when he held Eliot, his unwavering patience, and the joy he got from every tiny milestone Eliot reached—there was no question. But you also knew that his career still took up so much of his time and energy, so you’d quietly agreed with yourself to hold off just a little longer. Besides, you often had to remind him that he wasn’t the one who’d have to carry the baby and go through the whirlwind of pregnancy and childbirth.
So, with a playful nudge, you gave him an exasperated look and smirked. “Let’s just focus on handling this one, alright, tiger?”
He laughed, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple. “Fair enough. But I can’t wait.”
As Eliot’s giggles filled the room and the laughter of friends surrounded you, a warmth settled deep in your chest. Watching William with Eliot and sharing this moment with friends, you knew this Halloween—this first, special Halloween—would forever hold a treasured place in your heart.

“Whatcha reading?” Flinching, you had to contain your yelp as you spun around to meet Bucky, who was leaning over your shoulder looking at your laptop. “The latest on the campus killer.” You answer, your anxiety dissipating at the sight of him.
“Campus killer?” He snorted. “A couple girls go missing and they say there’s a killer on the loose.” “Buck, have some respect. They found another body yesterday.” “Sorry, doll.” He apologized. “I just think it’s a bit excessive to have everybody worried like this, maybe these are isolated incidents.” He suggests. “What if it’s not? What if I’m next? Would you start taking this seriously then?” You argue.
“Nothing’s gonna hurt you, baby.” He smiled, that same smile that always melted your heart. “Are you going to protect me?” You teased, biting your lip as you looked up at him. “A girl like you don’t need protecting.” He smirked, his hand finding your cheek as he looked down at you. You leaned into his touch, your cheek feeling warm from the contact.
You and Bucky were great friends, but deep down you wanted your friendship to exceed platonic touches and glances. You had kissed a few times, but you both always blamed it on the alcohol. “Hey” Loki interrupted, approaching you both as Bucky let go of you.
“What are you up to?” “I’m just telling this one she has nothing to be afraid of.” Bucky answered. “What are you reading?” Loki asked you, skimming over the article on your laptop. “It’s about what we know so far about the campus killer.” You answer, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Care to enlighten me?” Loki prompted. “He seems to only target girls and apparently he’s got a devil tattoo on his hip bone.” You replied. “Who worked that out?” Loki laughed. “One of his victims who survived, Crazy Maddie. She said he was wearing a mask and he was shirtless when he grabbed her. She fought back and his pants were low after the struggle, so she saw it.” “Crazy Maddie?” They both chuckle. “Yeah. I know she says a lot of wild things, but this one is true, I think. She seemed pretty shaken up about it.” You explained.
“I wouldn’t believe her.” Bucky shrugged. “Are you coming to the party tonight?” Loki asked you, changing the subject. “At a time like this? No!” You shook your head. “How about we bring the party to you?” Bucky suggests. “Yeah?” You prompt him to continue. “We could bring some beers, maybe watch a film, play a game?” He suggests.
“I’m down.” You agree, Loki does the same. “Great, we will swing by around seven?” “Perfect.” You grin, your gaze lingering on Bucky’s as he mirrors your smile.
You get ready for the night, spraying your favorite perfume, the one Bucky complimented last time. You can only hope that he will kiss you again. You’d even take a kiss from your other friend, Loki. They were both insanely attractive, not to mention popular. Top athletes and the most sought after guys in their fraternity. It was hard to get them alone at parties. They always had the hottest sorority girl’s’ attention.
You wore a low cut tank top that made your breasts look amazing. You flip your hair one last time, deciding you’re ready. You check your phone, it’s 7:05. You hear a knock at your door. Bucky and Loki come in carrying pizza and beers. You sit in the floor enjoying your meal and watching A Nightmare On Elm Street. When the film is over, Bucky says he wants to play a game. You go to the closet pulling out monopoly.
“This is all I have.” You tell them. “No, darling. We were thinking of a different game. How about Truth or Dare?” Loki suggests. “Sure.” You agree, but you are a little nervous, hoping they don’t ask anything too revealing. After a few more beers, the game gets interesting. “Truth or Dare?” Loki asks you. “Truth.” You choose, waiting for his question. He and Bucky share a look before he turns back to you. “Have you ever touched yourself while thinking about one of us?”
You try not to choke on your beer. “Yes, I have.” You admit, looking away from them. “Which one?” Bucky asks you. “Um, both of you.” You tell him, looking between them. Loki grins knowingly. The boys take their turns next, admitting they have thought about you like that too. You’re next and you pick dare.
“I dare you to let him suck your tits.” Loki gives you the task and the alcohol takes away any embarrassment. You pull your tank top off, pulling the cups of your bra down, revealing your perky chest. Loki watches as Bucky lowers his head, taking a hardened nipple between his lips. You moan as he moves to the other breast, giving it the same attention. He releases you, and you pull your bra back up. When it’s your turn again you choose dare, hoping to get another task like that.
“I dare you to suck his dick.” Bucky tells you. You look at Loki, who is already unzipping his pants. You sink to your knees, taking him deep. You hollow your cheeks, moaning around him. You feel your hair being removed from your neck, and you look up to find Bucky gathering it into a makeshift ponytail. “Oh Fuck!” Loki gasps, watching the two of you.
You pull him most of the way out of your mouth, closing your lips around the tip. You swirl your tongue around him before taking him all the way back again. Loki grips your chin in his hand, pulling your face up toward him. “Go get on the bed.” You do as your told, heading toward your bedroom. You strip your clothes as you go. This night couldn’t get any better.
“Such a good girl for us. Look Loki, she’s already naked.” Bucky sits on the edge of the bed. “C’mere doll, bend over my legs.” You lay down across Bucky’s lap with your ass exposed. He dips two fingers inside you. “She’s so wet already.” He tells Loki. Loki walks over, rubbing the curve of your cheek appreciatively. You cry out when Loki’s hand meets your ass with a slap. You clench around Bucky’s fingers.
“She likes that. Don’t you, baby?” Bucky coos. Loki’s hand comes down again, this time Bucky lazily rubs your clit. Your arousal drips down your thighs. “You look so beautiful with my handprint on you.” Loki observes.
“She’s so close.” Bucky tells him. When Loki’s hand hits your cheek once again, Bucky curls his fingers, simultaneously swirling the pad of his thumb against your clit. You fall apart while riding his hand. “Truth or dare, doll?” Bucky asks as you come down from your high, your body still aching to be touched by them.
“Dare.” You rush out, your pussy throbbing. “I dare you to let us fuck you.” Wordlessly, you obey, nodding your head furiously as Bucky and Loki share a smirk. You turn your back toward them, Bucky crawls behind you. You feel him running his cock through your folds, coating himself in your arousal as you try to push yourself back against him.
Coming in front of you, Loki frees his length, stroking it with his hand before circling your lips with it. You open your mouth, taking him inside as he strokes your cheek. You hollow your cheeks around his cock while Bucky pushes inside you, groaning as your walls grip him.
Your hand replaces Loki’s as you massage the base of his cock whilst flicking your tongue against the tip. Bucky pulls out of you completely before thrusting inside of you again, setting a steady pace as you moan around Loki’s cock.
The vibrations make him close his eyes as he wills himself to not cum so soon. “Such a pretty little slut for us.” Bucky sniggers, one of his hands tightly gripping your waist whilst his balls slap against your clit. You could feel the material of his jeans rubbing against your ass as he fucked you, increasing his speed.
Bucky cums inside you with a grunt. Your breathing slows as he pulls out of you. “Stay on your hands and knees.” Loki commands. You assume the position while Loki lays under you, face near your pelvis, your breasts brushing his stomach. Bucky slides under you, the opposite way, placing an arm around your leg as he lays between them. You look to see Loki’s long tresses mix with Bucky’s as they settle in. “What are you doing?” You question, caught off guard when Loki’s lips seal around your clit. Bucky’s tongue glides through your folds.
“Mmm, we taste so good together, baby.” Bucky praises. Your legs shake as their mouths work you. “You gotta try this, Loke.” They switch positions and you know this is the craziest thing you’ll ever experience. Loki fucks you with his tongue, while Bucky sucks your clit, his unrelenting tongue flicking you simultaneously.
“Tastes so good.” Loki confirms. It doesn’t take long for you to shatter. They’ve ruined you for anyone else. When they crawl out from underneath you, you’re pleasantly surprised to see them share a kiss, tongues brushing against each other. Your clit throbs, needy for more.
“My turn.” Loki says, turning to you as you stay bent over in front of him. Unlike Bucky, there was nothing teasing about Loki’s movements. The fact that you were so wet helped as Loki thrust himself inside you, bottoming out with a grunt as you fell forward slightly.
Bucky makes his way in front of you, his thick cock in his hand. Lifting one of your hands up, you try and tug down Bucky’s jeans but he slaps your hand away, before kneeling at the end of the bed and kneading your breasts. Your moans grow louder as he takes one of them into his mouth whilst Loki continues fucking you from behind.
“Let me suck your cock.” You pant, looking up at Bucky. Standing back up, Bucky grips his hard length, guiding it to your mouth as you open it. Your tongue swirls around the tip as Bucky closes his eyes, head rolling to the side as you pleasure him.
You moan against him, sending vibrations down his shaft as Loki increases his pace. “Fuck!” You exclaim before being silenced by Bucky’s cock again. Looking up at him, you notice his eyes are closed. Lifting your hand again, you begin tugging down his jeans. Only for your eyes to widen in shock and terror as you see the devil tattoo on his hip bone.
Too clouded by pleasure, Bucky doesn’t notice what you have done. Trying to stop your lip from trembling, you release him with a pop, before telling Loki to stop. He stops, worried as he looks down at you. “What’s wrong?” He asks. “I-I just feel a little - I” You stutter, terrified by your realization. “What?” Bucky prompts you to continue as you grab a shirt, holding it over your exposed chest. You step back toward Loki who had gotten off the bed. “What, baby?” Bucky smiles, stepping toward you. “Loki, he- he’s the” You begin, a tear rolling down your cheek.
“Killer” Loki whispers in your ear knowingly. “She saw the tattoo.” Loki tells Bucky. “Loki!” You gasp, shocked. “You knew?” “Knew? Darling, I helped.” He grins wickedly. You look between them, horrified. “Don’t worry, we won’t kill you, Y/N.” Bucky tells you. “Yes, you have nothing to worry about.” Loki strokes your cheek reassuringly. “You fuck too good.” Bucky smirks as Loki kisses your cheek.

“A halloween party, hm, why not.”
Ah, old hallows eve, a time where the crisp air nips at your skin, the beautiful orange, red, and brown leaves crunch in a satisfying manner underfoot.
The smell of cinnamon hit you as you walked into your apartment, courtesy of your landlord having gifted the tenants candles for the season. You smiled as you watched a few of your neighbors exit their apartments, one in particular, Stacy, stopped to talk to you as her children raced each other around the balcony.
“Oh ___ how are you, happy Halloween!”
You smiled at the older woman, she's been kind to you ever since you moved into the complex.
“Ah, happy Halloween, I've been good, just thinking of what to do tonight since tomorrow is Halloween and I'm not one to go trick or treating..”
Stacy let out a soft chuckle, she understood your predicament. She offered a smile and reached into her purse, handing you an envelope
“Well, if you have nothing to do, take this, it's an invitation to a party up at the old manor on the hill,”
“On Rosetta drive?”
“Yep! I have no use for it because my kiddos are going to a friend's house for a small party, I don't need to go to a bigger one. So here, have fun!”
You took the envelope, impressed by the aged look and even more so because of the wax seal.
“Oh! And don't forget to go in costume, the host said it's required. Have fun ___ and happy Halloween!”
You waved goodbye to Stacy and her children, opening the letter and reading it over.
Dear ___,
I hope to see you at the spooktacular Halloween party on Rosetta drive!
Grab your favorite costumes, because they're required for this one-of-a-kind celebration.
We'll be serving up hauntingly delicious food and drinks, as well as hosting some seriously scary games. prepare for the fright of a lifetime!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
You chuckle at the goofy nature of the letter but a part of you can't help but wonder one small thing as you enter your apartment.
Why was it addressed to you specifically?
. . .
You groaned at yourself in the mirror, wondering if the bloody fang marks were a bit too much.
You were about an hour into getting ready and fretting over the tiniest things! You'd be fine, after all, if you didn't leave now, you'd be late for the party.
You left the fang marks as is, and headed down to your old car, getting in the driver's seat, buckling up and pulling off. You followed a few other cars up to Rosetta drive, the sheer amount of cars you saw in the little cul-de-sac for a driveway had you gobsmacked, and as you stepped out of your little blue beetle, you were equally as shocked to see the incredible costumes others wore as they chatted and laughed on the way inside.
You sigh, as you dragged yourself inside the manor.
. . .
You were basically a wallflower the entire time, only ever asking where the snack table or bathroom was, you weren't having the best time but it was still a fun night.
However, it wasn't long before the host of the party came out, waving to their guests and welcoming them all to the party.
Soon enough said host came down, dressed in the most convincing vampire costume you had ever seen, the cloak looked like a shadow that fell wonderfully down their shoulders and back, the midnight black suit held their body in the most perfect way. Every detail was perfect, down to those oh so convincing fangs.
Meanwhile your shoddily put together costume was practically falling apart at the seams, the pale makeup you applied to your face and neck, slowly being sweated off due to the heat. You needed a breath, and a break from all the hardcore EDM music and shouting. So you stepped outside, but not to go unnoticed by a certain party host.
. . .
You rubbed your forehead in an attempt to quell the oncoming headache you felt, finishing up the drink you had in a red solo cup, which was mineral water, even though more alcoholic beverages were offered, you opted for a more sober option.
“Enjoying the party? I know it can get a little intense in a big house like this.”
You don't recognize the voice that came from beside you till you turn and recognize the vampiric host. You’re taken so off guard that you end up dropping your drink, and given an apology.
“Oops! My bad, I can get you another one!”
You shake your head.
“Nah, it's fine, uhm, thanks for inviting me.”
You tried to strike up a conversation, but it sounded bland, so you began to play a game of 20 questions. It was going well, you were both having fun, until you heard a familiar sound of a stomach growling. Followed by nervous laughter
“Haha! Sorry ‘bout that, guess I’ve been so busy that I forgot to have a snack break!”
“Well why don't we go inside and get you something to eat?”
They seemed to blush just a bit at your unknowingly forward comment.
“Really? You’d do that for me?”
“Yeah, you have food inside right? Let's go.”
“Oh.. about that..”
You tilt your head at their pause, your confused expression turned to one of surprise and wonder as they explained how they weren't just in their Sunday best for a party, and that they were an actual vampire, those pristine fangs were not just for show, they were real, as real as they were.
And the next thing you knew, you were in their bedroom, sitting cross legged in front of them as they took off the many layers of their clothes. Now just in a very frilly button up and black dress pants, shoes long gone as they excitingly bounced over to join you on the plush bed.
“You've seen vampire movies, right? And I'm not talking about twilight.. They've got the representation all wrong! ”
Even as you sat on their larger than necessary bed, blankets wrapped around your shoulders, you listened to them blabber on.
. . .
“And then-”
You press a gentle finger to their mouth, gazing deep into their eyes, their brown, slightly red iris gazing back into yours. At that moment, the both of you drifted into your own little world, the party going on downstairs was of no concern to the both of you, not anymore.
Sloan let your finger find its way into their mouth, your index finger pressing against the pad of their wet tongue. It felt good, way too good.. Maybe.. A little bite wouldn't hurt..
You hissed as you felt one of their fangs pierce the flesh of your skin, they looked up at you with a sorry expression before closing their eyes and licking the droplet of blood away. And then, it happened. Their eyes shot open, pupils the size of pinpricks. They were hooked.
They released your hand as they cupped your cheeks gently, just inches away from your mouth, breath heavy as they began to beg you.
“Please.. Oh god please.. Let me in amor, open up please let me taste you..”
Your breath hitched, legs moving to wrap around their waist as they pinned you to the bed. Your mouth was as dry as a desert, no words wanted to leave that prison of your voice box, so all you did was nod, lips parting to allow that little access that the vampire you had above you wanted oh so badly.
You winced as you felt sharp teeth bite into your lower lip, and at your sound of discomfort, they licked the wound they inflicted. Mumbling sweet apologies and nuzzling their nose against yours.
“Oh my sweet.. I'm sorry, I got a little ahead of myself, I'm so very sorry.. ”
You shush them with another gentle kiss, your trembling hand cradling the back of their head, your pinky gently smoothing over the back of their neck, guiding them to the crook of your neck, whispering to them encouragement and praise.
“Don’t worry, please just.. Take what you need, I'll be fine, go ahead.”
If they weren't in love with you up to this point, they were head over heels now. And with your guiding hand and willingness to give in, they licked at your neck, right over where the fake bite marks lie hours ago, and prepared to make new ones.
“Deep breath..”
And you felt nothing but bliss as those perfect fangs, sunk into your supple skin.
You were in Heaven.

“There’s Plenty of Kish in The Sea, Right?”
Fred Weasley x Reader Part 1
Day 8 of the 13 Nights of Halloween Spooktacular!!!
Masterlist | Part 1 | Part 2
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Requested? No
Summary: Cedric wants to be a champion. (Y/n) wants him to live to see the end of the school year. Freddie just wants to be (Y/n)’s boyfriend…
Warnings: starred out swear words, jealous Freddie, Angst-kinda
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Fem!Reader (you’re a Hufflepuff)
(Y/n/n) - your nickname
Tumblr media
The room was practically buzzing with anticipation. Dinner had been over and done with for what felt like ages, and yet no one had dared move from their seats. They remained, waiting. Because tonight was a big night. Tonight the students of Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang would find out who had been chosen to compete in this years Triwizard Tournament.
“Calm down, Ced.” (Y/n) tried, her housemate and best friend practically bouncing in his seat, the anxiety flowing off of him in almost visible waves. (Y/n) herself was substantially less nervous, seeing as how her birthday wasn’t for a few more months and she was therefore ineligible for the event. Not that she’d have entered, anyhow. She valued her life, thank you very much. Cedric, however…
“I can’t help it (Y/n)! This is a huge deal! Finally, my chance to make something of myself… Ever since Harry got here it’s like I’m not good enough anymore and-“ Cedric ran his fingers through his hair in distress, (Y/n) frowning at his words, cutting him off with a comforting pat on the shoulder.
“Okay, calm down.” She ordered, the boy turning his body to look at her as she continued, knowing full well the true reasoning behind his nerves, and not liking his self-deprecation one bit… “Look, I know you want to make your dad proud, Ced. But, he loves you. And I’m sure he’ll love you just as much even if you don’t get chosen.” She ran her hand along his back in what she hoped were soothing circles, to which she was proven correct when the taller lad sunk into her embrace with a sigh.
“Thanks, (Y/n/n)… I suppose you’re right…” He mumbled, resting his head on her shoulder. (Y/n) chucked in response.
“Aren’t I always?” She asked, earning herself a playful shove back which had them both giggling. “You know, I’m still not even sure what would posses a person to want to do something like this.” (Y/n) noted, running her hand through Cedric’s hair mindlessly, as she voiced her thoughts on the tournament for what was quite possibly the millionth time. Previously, it had been in an attempt to talk the older boy out of it, though, more currently, it was simply out of spite, as there was nothing anyone could do once his name had been entered. Not that (Y/n) thought that out of all the names he’d get picked. Of course she wouldn’t be telling him that. He seemed so excited about it all. And it would be much easier to deal with a Cedric that was mad at the system for not choosing him than one mad at his best friend for not believing in him. No matter that the choice seemed relatively random…
Cedric just hummed, most likely to humor her strong opinions at this point, but (Y/n) didn’t mind, as she continued on.
“I was talking to Hermione and she said-“
“Shh!!! It’s starting!” Well, then…
+ + +
“Ahh the trusty old ‘stare at her until she notices you’ trick. Works every time.” George joked from beside Fred, who sent him the nastiest glare he could muster up, before returning his attention to the Hufflepuff across the room. He just couldn’t help it. She was gorgeous. Fred had been pretty much head-over-heels in love with her since they’d been paired up for potions the first day of third year. And, much to his twin brothers amusement, he’d been fairly useless as a human being around her ever since. It’s not like Fred meant to become a stuttering mess of a man every time he was within a ten foot radius of the girl. Under normal circumstances, he could flirt his way out of a jail sentence if he really wanted to. Fred was fairly proud of this fact. But, with (Y/n), it was like he was putty in her hands. And it was incredibly infuriating…
“Shove off, mate.” Fred grumbled, finally turning his attention away from the Hufflepuff table and back to the world around him when Cedric Diggory dropped his head to rest so f*cking adorably on (Y/n)’s shoulder. Fred briefly entertained the idea of a ‘disappearing’ prank on the older bloke, but, upon the realization that that was insane, opted to simply pout at the tabletop in front of him. A nudge from his other side gained his attention away from the wood grain, however, and Fred turned to Lee with a raised brow. “What?”
“You need to loosen up, Freddie. It’s one girl. What’s that muggle saying? ‘There’s plenty of kish in the sea’?” Lee offered, confusing the sh*t out of pretty much everyone present, before George made to correct him.
“‘Fish in the sea. ‘There’s plenty of fish in the sea’, mate.” He said, though nobody could hold in their snickers as Lee crossed his arms across his chest defensively. Even Fred managed a small smile before returning to a neutral expression (that one might consider rather downcast for the guy in question) when Lee jumped to his own defense.
“I’m pretty sure it was ‘kish.’” He argued, clearly causing George’s annoyance to grow, while Fred remained relatively unbothered. He wasn’t looking for a different ‘fish’ or ‘kish’ anyhow. He just wanted (Y/n)…
“Why the bloody hell would it be ‘kish’? What the f*ck is a ‘kish in the sea.’” George complained loudly, unintentionally firing Lee up more. Fred rolled his eyes.
“A good snog. Lip locking. Spit sharing. You know, a ‘kish.’” He enunciated his point with a loud smack of his own lips followed by a cheeky grin that probably meant he was proud of himself, for what, Fred didn’t know. That was just about the dumbest thing he’d ever heard, and he’d been sharing a house with Ron for the last fourteen years…
“You’re an absolute idiot.”
“Hey, you’re one to talk!”
“Why don’t you say that to my face, huh!?”
“You think I won’t!?”
“Get to it, then!”
“I will-“
“Shut up, you tossers! It’s starting!” Fred almost yelled, interrupting the fighting boys when he noticed Dumbledore making his way towards the goblet at the other end of the Hall. Finally. Something to distract him…
+ + +
“Cedric Diggory!”
W-what?
The table around (Y/n) felt like it was shaking. Hufflepuffs of all ages clapping and pounding on the hard wood in support of their champion. Of Cedric…
“(Y/n/n)!” And suddenly her feet were off the ground, her best friends arms wrapped around her tightly as he swung the younger girl around in his excitement, one that she could, regrettably, not join him in.
Cedric was going to compete in the triwizard tournament... The triwizard tournament… The incredibly dangerous triwizard tournament… Cedric…
“Oh my…” (Y/n) barely managed to breathe out, in complete and utter disbelief of the situation. Meanwhile, Cedric was practically glowing.
“I did it!” He spoke ecstatically into her ear as he put her back down on her own two feet, the biggest grin (Y/n) had ever seen spread across his face. It dimmed slightly, however, when he noticed her own worried expression, and realized that she did not share in his joy.
“Hey…” He mumbled, pulling her back in for another hug, though this one considerably calmer, which (Y/n) was grateful for. “I’m gonna be okay… I’m gonna win this thing. Yeah?” He whispered so softly (Y/n) wouldn’t have been able to hear him had he not been so close.
Now, she didn’t know how much she believed him, the concern for her friend eating away at the girl immensely, but (Y/n) gave him her best smile and nod anyway, knowing that all she could do at this point was support him. Merlin knows he’s going to need it…
“I’ve gotta go with the other champions but I’ll see you later, Okay?” And (Y/n) nodded again, holding her expression for as long as she could, before finally sighing in relief when he turned, and she could drop the act and allow herself to wallow in her true feelings. God, if she hadn’t been before, she surely was nervous now…
And that was all before the boy who lived was announced as the fourth champion…
+ + +
Could this day get any worse?
Fred thought not, as the current residents of the Great Hall all sprang to their feet and began chatting animatedly about the events that had just transpired. But Fred remained stationary in his seat, grip so tight on the tables edge that, had he cared, he’d be worried he might break it.
But Fred’s mind was elsewhere, going a mile a minute in just about a million different directions.
Cedric was the Hogwarts champion…
Harry put his name in the Goblet of Fire…
Cedric was all over (Y/n) when they called his name…
Why didn’t Harry tell George and I how to put ours in?
(Y/n) looked so worried when Cedric walked off to join the other champions…
Why doesn’t she look at me like that?
“You good, mate?” Fred heard George ask from beside him, but he didn’t answer. What could he say? “No, actually. I’m incredibly offended that the girl I like seems to fancy another guy, even though I’ve given her absolutely no reason to think I’m interested in her because I can’t f*cking talk to her without sounding like a complete and utter doof.” Yeah, that would be real helpful…
“Sorry, spaced.” Fred mumbled dumbly before finally getting to his feet. “I’m tired. Let’s go on up.”
Fred knew George was looking at him funny, but he didn’t have the energy to care, as the pair made their way out of the Hall, Fred, for the first time in over two years, not sparing a single glance at the Hufflepuff table…
There’s plenty of kish in the sea, right?

Trick-Or-Treat (part two) || TASM
Summary: Another Halloween, another year gone by, and more Claire and Benjy to keep Peter entertained. There's never a dull moment in the Parker household. It's a very short read and simple and cute. (read last years Halloween fic here)
A/N: It's been a while since I've written anything. I'll dip my toes in and see how it feels by starting with the cute twins in Peter's life. Special thanks to @tarzinnia for bringing back last years Halloween fic and inspiring me to attempt writing again. Happy Halloween, bitches!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spider-Man.
That’s what Claire insisted on being for Halloween. Peter couldn’t help but be proud of her choices.
“I don’t think there’s a better costume out there,” he boasted to you late one evening. He was sitting at the kitchen table, happily sewing a handmade Spider suit for his daughter.
“Don’t tell that to Benjy,” you replied. “He’ll be heartbroken to hear you think his Buzz Lightyear costume is subpar.”
Peter huffed, “Store bought will always be subpar. He wouldn’t even let me hand make it for him.”
“You didn’t see him when we walked by it at the store. He fell in love. He looked up at me with those big brown eyes and I couldn’t say no to that face. He adores that costume. You’re just playing favorites because Claire chose Spider-Man.”
Peter smirked, “The kid has great taste, what can I say?”
You ruffled your husband's mop of messy hair and chuckled, “Just wait until she starts telling people she’s dressed as her dad for Halloween. That smile will be wiped right off your smug face. There’s no faster way to lose your secret identity than to have children. They can’t keep anything secret.” You passed him a red tutu to sew around the waist of the costume. Claire might want to dress like her father’s alternate identity but she still wanted to have the princess vibes she loved. “I think you should add a tutu to your suit. You’d look fabulous.”
Peter laughed, “I really would, wouldn’t I?”
“I’ve got to go to bed. The twins drained all my energy today. Please don’t stay up too late working on the costume. You still have plenty of time to get it done.”
He lifted up his head for a kiss, “I’ll follow you shortly. Just a few more finishing touches…”
Tumblr media
Claire’s eyes lit up when she saw her costume. Peter had successfully added the skirt and bedazzled the entire thing to create a sparkling, princess version of Spider-Man.
“It’s perfect!” She shouted with excitement. “I’m going to look just like you daddy!”
“Is this what I look like in your eyes? Full of sparkles and absolutely spooktacular?” He held the costume up to her small frame to admire his work.
“Let’s get you kids dressed! It’s almost time to leave,” you shouted as you bustled into the living room holding Benjy’s costume and a pile of clothes. “Put some warm clothes on Claire under her suit, please, Peter.” You tossed him her thermal sweater and pants. “It’s going to drop down to the 40’s tonight and I don’t want them to catch a cold.”
You quickly got Benjy into his warm clothes and tugged on his Buzz Lightyear suit while Peter dressed Claire.
“Are we going to see Auntie May tonight?” Benjy asked. It was no surprise. He asked this just about every single night in the hopes that he’d get to see his favorite person. Tonight was his lucky night.
You gave him a wink, “She texted me a moment ago and told me she was on her way over.”
Benjy jumped excitedly around the room before running straight to the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of her walking up to the apartment building, so he could alert the entire family of her arrival.
You turned around to get a good look at Claire as Peter finished carefully zipping her in. He stood up to marvel at his creation. Tears of love and joy brimmed in his eyes which he quickly tried to wipe away before anyone noticed but you caught them. His love for his children often brought him to tears. You wrapped an arm around his waist and snuggled into his side.
“You did good,” you whispered to him. “She looks great.”
“I know everyone says they have the cutest kids but they’re all wrong. Ours win. It’s a good thing they inherited mostly your genes so they could end up this adorable. If they got mine, they might end up looking like haggard monsters,” he joked.
“Oh, shut up. Benjy is the spitting image of you and he’s the most precious, perfect boy I’ve ever seen.”
Peter turned to wrap you against his chest. He placed a warm kiss against the top of your head, “We make cute kids. Maybe we should make some more some time soon.”  You quietly gasped under your breath, “Peter Parker. Are you implying what I think you are?”
A sneaky smile tugged at the corner of his lips, “Maybe. The twins are going to start kindergarten next year. They’ll be full time at school. It sounds like a perfect time to bring a new little bug into our lives.”
“I-” you weren’t sure what to say. “We’d need a bigger place. Three kids in one apartment is not going to work for us. We have been saving up for a house, though…I mean, if we move to the suburbs, you’d have to commute with Spider-Man…my job is done remotely so that won’t matter but you’d have to go back and forth into the city. I was looking into some nice school districts. We’d have to adjust our budget a bit. It could be doable…”
“Is that a yes?” He asked, cutting through your attempts to mentally plan your entire future.
You smiled, “It’s a yes.”
Peter scooped you up into his arms and spun around with a joyful laugh, “We’re going to have another baby!”
“Alright, alright, put me down! Nothing is set in stone, yet. Let’s try to get through Halloween first.” You took a step away from your husband and glanced around the room.
Benjy was still patiently waiting at the window for any glimpse of May. Claire was nowhere to be found.
“Claire?” You called out. “Where’d you run off too? Auntie May will be here soon. We’re going to leave in a minute to Trick or Treat.”
You walked down the hall and peeked into the bathroom. Nothing. You poked your head into the twins shared bedroom. Nothing.
“Claire?” You called out again.
“In here!” She shouted from inside your bedroom.
You pushed open the door and your jaw dropped at the sight occurring before your horrified eyes.
“Look, momma!” Claire sang. “I’m daddy!”
Your daughter, in her sparkling Spider suit, was stuck halfway up the wall. She crawled up to the ceiling with nothing but her finger tips and the toes of her red converse.
“Peter!” You shouted, not able to take your eyes off her. As she reached the ceiling, she smoothly made the upside down transition until she was crawling directly over your head.
Peter showed up at your side. It took him a second to find the source of your stunned silence. When his eyes slowly looked up, his mouth fell open to mimic your own.
“Holy shit,” he whispered.
“That’s a bad word, daddy!” Claire chastised him from above his head. “Catch me!”
Without a word, Peter snatched her from the air as she gracefully unstuck herself from the ceiling. She giggled at the action as if crawling up walls and leaping into her father’s arms from above was an everyday occurrence for her.
“I’m Spider-Man just like you,” she hummed happily, not old enough to fully grasp the weight of what she was saying or what she’d just done.
You and Peter exchanged terrified looks with each other. A shocked silence had stolen any attempts at forming words from your mouths as you both desperately tried to comprehend what you’d just witnessed.
“Uh huh…yeah, sweetie…just like me…” Peter managed to squeak out.
“Auntie May’s here!” Benjy squealed from the other room.
Claire squirmed out of her father’s protectful grasp to run towards her brother, both brimming with excitement to let May into their home.
Neither you nor Peter could move.
“Did that just…” your question trailed off.
Peter nodded, “Yeah. Yes, it did.”
You took a long, shuddered breath, “Okay. That’s okay. That’s fine. Everything is fine. We just…have…a daughter with abilities…no big deal…not a problem at all…everything is great…”
Peter tugged you to his side, sensing you were about to start spiraling if he didn’t put a stop to it, “It is fine. I’ve been through this before. I can handle this again. She seems like she’s handling this better than I was at 16. She’s a natural at it! It’s totally, 100% fine and not at all terrifying.” Peter was always a terrible liar. “It appears she may have inherited more of my genes than I initially thought and that is okay. She’s really embodying the spirit of that Halloween costume isn’t she?” He gave a breathless chuckle.
You shot him a stern look at his poor attempt at a joke, “Seriously?”
He shrugged with a guilty expression etched onto his face, “They don’t write a parents handbook for this kind of thing.”
“Our preschooler can crawl up walls! Her teachers are going to hate us, oh god. What are we going to do?”
The buzzer rang, alerting everyone of May’s presence at the door.
Peter glanced towards the sound, “Right now, we are going to let May in and then we are going to take the kids out Trick or Treating. We are going to have a fun night watching them run around and collect candy. They are going to be kids and enjoy their Halloween. Then we will come home, let them go crazy with sugar, then attempt to get them to bed. Afterwards, you and I will start on our endeavor to make baby number three. And then…tomorrow, we can figure this out more. But, tonight, tonight is for us.”
You gave a slow nod, allowing his words to comfort you, repeating his mantra, “Tonight is for us. Tomorrow is for worrying.”
Peter gave you a warm smile and a quick kiss, “Worry tomorrow, have fun tonight. This a problem for future us. Present us needs to only worry about how much candy we can fit into those kids’ pumpkin buckets.”
A smile grew over your face as some of the fear dissipated. Not all of it. You were always going to fear for the future of your children but Peter was always going to be there to help smooth out those worries.
“If it’s Trick or Treat, Claire definitely chose ‘trick’ this year.”
Peter laughed, “And Benjy will always choose ‘treat’. That will be one thing that never changes. The boy loves chocolate! Let’s go let May in before the kids break down the door. Come on, my son needs sugar and my daughter needs an exorcism. A perfect Halloween combination!”
The End :)

EVANGELINE'S EVENT
'You are cordially invited to the grand opening of Evangeline's, for a dining experience you will never forget! Come along for a selection of drinks and samples, before we turn the lights right down and get our spook on.'
Posters had been popping up around town for months, and fliers popped through almost every letter box in town, announcing the grand opening of a brand-new restaurant, started by none other than Ray Bug, a staple face in the Hollow's tourism community. Buzz for the place grew slowly but surely (aided, in part, by the mention of a party, which we all know the people of Redwood Hollow simply cannot resist). A Halloween opening could either be a wise move, or a terrible one, given the council's penchant for throwing massive town events this time of year, but Ray is hopeful nonetheless. Sometimes change is good! Sometimes a change of scene is all you really need.
So, come along to Evangeline's, for a night of cocktails, dancing and spooktacular jazz accompaniments! Come in costume and earn yourself an entry in the evening's haunted prize draw (a meal for two on the house!)
                                                ——————
An OOC information post will be made shortly with OOC details for players, and will be linked in the source once posted. This event will take place between Friday 25th October and Sunday 3rd November OOC. In character, this event will have taken place on October 31st.
It is highly encouraged that you take part in this event to kick off Season 2! A plot drop will also be revealed during this event.
Please like this post once you have read it.

One Midnight Dow - Maribat Mix & Match Monster Mash
Tumblr media
Tonight's prompt is a true classic of Halloween, and we can't wait to see the clawsome creations posted for the first night of this frightful event!
Tumblr media
As a reminder, when you post your spooktacular submissions, make sure to either add them to our Ao3 Collection: Maribat Mix & Match Monster Mash (Maribat_Mix_Match) or, if you’re posting on tumblr, tag them with #mm&mmm2024 so we can find and reblog them!
We’d also like to remind you one last time that while adult content is allowed, it needs to be tagged and rated appropriately, and if you’re on tumblr it should be under a cut. If it’s not then we won’t be able to reblog it for you, so make you take the time to format that stuff!
We hope you have a terrifyingly good time creating for our Monster Mash, and we can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
Special thanks to @newdog14 for designing our calendar and daily prompt graphics, and to @nottesilhouette and @izanae for helping brainstorm prompts, providing design feedback, and other logistical things for this event!

Hellooo everyone! First off just wanted to start this by saying happy early Halloween!! I hope you all have a amazingly spooky holiday and if you don't celebrate the holiday then I just hope you have a good day/night anyway!
Now time for why we are all actually here... muahahaha!!

Rules!:
✩ Characters must be adults (18 or older!)
✩ No incest! (Step sibling, adopted or non blood related is okay)
✩ You have to clarify who is top(s) or bottom(s)
✩ I'd like if you could state wether the reader is afab or amab and what pronouns they use! (If you don't I'll just make everything as gender neutral as possible)
✩ Up to 3 characters in a single request! (4somes and 3somes are fine!)
✩ Absolutely NO kink shaming!
Other than that I should be okay with everything and if I'm not comfortable writing something I will answer the ask saying so!
Safetober:
So for those who want to take part in the event but don't want to request anything nsfw, this parts for you!
You can request anything you'd like for safetober! This is a safe place, so if you want platonic or romantic I don't mind! Have a idea that's been written a thousand times or maybe one you've never seen before and think might be a little strange...I'm here! Whatever your heart's desire!
I also don't mind if you don't want to request at all, maybe you have some silly questions you'd like to ask me, or something you'd like me to react to or perhaps you just want to talk with someone cause you're feeling lonely...don't be afraid to ask <3
Basically I want to take this opportunity to get to know everyone and spread the joy of a spooktacular holiday! Again HAPPY HALLOWEEN / I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD DAY OR NIGHT!!
(p.s I will be reblogging this at the end of each day until octobers over!)

Vampire Hunter D movie recommendation anon again. Thank you for the lovely reply it truly brought a bright smile to my face.
And I read how you mention you were interested in Halloween/Autumn traditions.
So here are some I'm planning to do.
I'm currently re-reading my Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask manga after about 12 years since I first read it in my early teens.
Rewatch Scooby doo Witch's Ghost since I feel it fits both the spooky and autumn vibe perfectly.
Play through a fun autumn festival event in a game I've played a few years back called The Arcana, its just a fun cozy event with the characters. There are different choices and adventures with them during the event.
Rewatch Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust since it became something of a tradition these three/four years.
Color in some fun halloween colour pages from series I like. Usually I find them on google and print them to color in. Most likely ones from the Castlevania series this year.
Listen to my favorite halloween music playlist with music from symphony of the night, tracks from the Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde and a few from the Dracula musical and a few others from movies, shows and games I like.
And as a fun treat watch Kuromi's Pretty Journey season 2 since the first mini episode comes on Halloween since its her birthday.
Also rewatch Disney's Sleepy Hollow because that has become a tradition from way back for me.
Thank you again for your kind message and words. Here's hoping for a Spooktacular Halloween!
AH! A late responce from me here, sorry about that, but I am so glad you have a long list of fun things to do today!! ;O; ) I hope you got to do all these fun things and more!! Happy Spooktacular Halloween anonymous friend!! 🎃

Casablanca Activities
May 4: To celebrate the 4th, Aire Libre will be showing the original Star Wars trilogy—no, the original original Star Wars trilogy, the one that premiered in Chile in 2003! As the broadcasting company didn’t want to cut to commercial breaks, they instead stitched the commercials into the scenes and started something absolutely legendary.  Spanish subtitles will be provided, and guests are encouraged to come dressed!  Merchandise will be sold of the edited scenes, from magnets to t-shirts to blankets.
6 PM: Episode IV: A New Hope 8:30 PM: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 11 PM: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
May 10: Inherited Escapes will be hosting their own AAPI event!  They’ve invited Asian Chilean authors as well as authors of AAPI descent to be part of an author panel and book signing.  Come meet some amazing local authors, come give a big greeting to our international authors, and come spend an afternoon surrounded by people who love to write and love to read. The event will be from 6 PM - 8:30 PM.  Snacks and beverages will be provided; the last thirty minutes will be for book signings (only books bought from Inherited Escapes will be signed).
May 11-12: As fall is ending, Isidora will be selling last season’s products at a discounted price this entire weekend to prepare their inventory for the upcoming season and for the winter time storage.  If you buy any of their products, they’ll also be offering free tours of their winery!
May 17: As the days and nights get cooler, Quintay is seeing an uptick in visitors for fly fishing.  Veteran fisherman and very important scientists have predicted that this particular Friday will be a great time to fish, so Quintay invites families to come and learn how to fly fish from 4PM - 8 PM!  For a small price, kids can borrow fishing gear and life jackets, and get hands-on experience on how to use an artificial lure to catch some dinner.  Post-8 PM, adults can stay and fly fish further.
Quilpué Activities
May 2: To celebrate International Sibling Day, Plantas Altas will be offering a BOGO 50% off from 11 AM - 2 PM! If you ever need an excuse to buy more plants, or if you need a reason to buy a gift for a sibling you love to hate and hate to love, Plantas Altas has you covered with pots, leafy greens, dangling beauties, and all the cute accessories you could want.
May 3: International Supernatural Day is upon us, and no one loves the Supernatural more than the people at Los Fantasmas.  For an out of season night, the team at Los Fantasmas has come up with a spooktacular night.  From 8 PM - 2 AM, they will be hosting a small Macabre Market where the vendors will be selling eerie, unsettling, and just plain scary merchandise.  Two new drinks have been added to the menu for this night: the Cóctel Zombi and El Beso de la Muerte. There’s even rumors of the appearance of a famous but reclusive ghost hunter—but you’ll have to come and find out for yourself!
May 5: Are you the best at Smashbros?  Maybe you’re just the big fish in your little pond.  Casa Dragones is offering you the chance to truly find out!  Test your mettle against other Smashbros players in a Smashbros Tournament!  There is a small entry fee and a portion of it goes to the cash prize pool; winner takes it all, and something maybe even more important: Bragging Rights!  The tournament will be from 2 PM - 6 PM.  Snacks and beverages will be provided, but you are encouraged to purchase snacks from the counter and support your local nerd space.  Please register online at www.lacasadedragones.cl.
May 18: It’s time to shine for one of Caos Tattoos very own: Abril Valdivia!  The Tattoo Apprentice will be having a flash sale of her own designs for a discounted price.  Come support a local up-and-coming artist!  You can still make appointments and receive flash from the resident tattoo artists there. May 25: Quilpué Zoo invites friends and family to meet their new friend, Otto the Octopus!  Otto is a smart, clever, playful, and silly boy.  He loves squirting water at the Quilpué Zoo workers; he loves solving puzzles; and he loves being handled by the zoo employees!  From 10 AM - 2 PM, the event (¡Bienvenido A Casa, Otto¡) will allow kids to see Otto solve puzzles and do tricks; they’ll see a feeding session; and they’ll also learn about octopuses and their habitats!
Valparaíso Activities

‘October 31st 11:58pm’
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
Robby. Robby Keene. Miyagi-Do’s Robby Keene. Hawk’s practical sworn enemy Robby Keene.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
(Y/n) didn’t know what to do. She was sure she looked like an idiot, just standing there staring at him. But what was she supposed to do? It wasn’t like she, or anyone else for that matter, had tons upon tons of experience in this specific department.
Robby Keene…
Could this night get any worse?
“Why don’t you come over here and say that to my face, you little b*tch!”
Right…
The sharp pull, which was slowly becoming more familiar to the girl, was what brought (Y/n) out of her thoughts. She was confused again about its origins, but only for a moment before realization struck her like Hawk’s fist slamming into the side of Demetri’s face, which she could practically feel from where she stood.
Robby was gone.
And that was the pull. It was Robby. Robby, and the soulmate bond. Because Robby Keene was her soulmate. (Y/n)’s heart fluttered all on its own at the thought, and, against her better judgment, she allowed herself a moment to appreciate it. Robby was her soulmate. (Y/n) had found her soulmate. And he was… well, (Y/n) didn’t really know. But the universe did. And that was good enough for her. Her Cobra Kai friends, however, might take more convincing…
But, of course, she didn’t need to deal with that right now. No, right now, (Y/n)’s brain had apparently made the executive decision that she needed to, instead, make a break for it. Not that it wasn’t warranted. The whole evening had been an emotional roller coaster. So, fleeing the scene seemed like a fairly acceptable thing to do. And she hoped Robby would see it that way. He seemed pretty preoccupied presently anyways…
“Moon!” (Y/n) ran through the crowd, pushing past shocked partygoers who were watching the madness going down on the dance floor, and mentally cursed at herself. Why had she thought hitching a ride was a good idea instead of making her own way to this thing, knowing full well she wouldn’t have wished to stay as long as her friends did anyways, even if she hadn’t run into such a crisis as she now knew as “Robby Keene.” She honestly just hoped at this point that the other girl would be too preoccupied trying to stop her boyfriend from causing an all out karate brawl in formal attire to think too much about whether or not she should hand over the keys. Because (Y/n) really needed to get out of there…
“(Y/n)! Where’d you go!?! We were worried you got caught up in…” She trailed off, gesturing towards the mess that (Y/n) could vaguely see a familiar jacket in the middle of. Her heart jumped against her will when she caught sight of the boy she was universally destined to be with, and for a moment she contemplated staying to see if he would be alright, but then all the problems that come along with him returned to the forefront of her mind and (Y/n) was forcefully reminded how much she needed to be gone when he finally did come looking for her.
“Moon, I have to get out of here! You have to help me!” (Y/n) knew how frantic she sounded and almost felt sorry for the concern she was probably filling her friend with, but she just didn’t have time to sit around and explain. The fight was still raging, of course, but who knows how much longer it could go on for. And she needed to make her escape while they were all distracted…
“What are you talking about? We’ve gotta stop them!” Moon started dragging (Y/n) along with her, destination clear but, even if it hadn’t been, the return of the pulling sensation (of which (Y/n) had just now decided to describe simply as “Robby”) would have given it away. And that was the opposite of what she wanted…
“No! Moon, please! You have to get me out of here! It’s an emergency!”
Now, Moon didn’t initially look like she believed her, which caused (Y/n)’s heart to drop into her stomach. She hadn’t had time to think of the possible outcome if Robby did catch up with her. What do I say? What do I do? It was almost impossible to imagine the interaction not going horribly wrong in some way, and that only pushed (Y/n) further towards the flight side of her “fight or flight instinct.”
But, thankfully after a moment, which felt painfully more like an hour to the attempted runaway, Moon finally sighed and pulled a set of keys out of her purse.
“They’re to Hawk’s truck.” She explained, holding them out to (Y/n), but quickly pulled them back to finish her thought before the other girl could grab them. “But, you better bring it back to the dojo tomorrow, got it?” (Y/n) nodded eagerly, not caring that that meant making a pit stop at the Cobra infested place the next morning. She’d worry about that later…
“Thanks Moon, you’re a life saver! I’ll see you tomorrow!”
And off (Y/n) ran with the keys, away from the quickly escalating situation behind her, and, of course, the potential boy of her dreams…
+ + +
Robby threw another punch into the fray, but his heart just wasn’t in it. He didn’t even get her name… God, why didn’t I get her name?
The mark on his wrist felt like it was burning but Robby knew that was all just in his head. But, then again, his head was swimming with so many thoughts that he couldn’t quite pinpoint which one precisely to mentally yell at to quiet down in order to stop the phantom pains.
Someone sending a sharp kick to his side brought Robby back to the situation at hand and he glared at the Cobra who he didn’t even recognize. He figured he must be one of Hawk’s though because he knew everyone in Miyagi-Do. Robby sent a kick back, using more force than necessary, though he wasn’t about to admit the reason behind it, figuring it would be childish to say he was mad that this whole endeavor had interrupted his conversation with the girl. His soulmate…
This was so stupid. He shouldn’t be here dealing with this sh*t. He should be with her, getting to know her, falling in love, all that mushy stuff. But no. Robby was more worried about this dumb karate war. What was wrong with him?
“Robby!? Where are you going!?”
But he ignored whoever it was, not even caring enough to look back as he shoved random Cobras out of his way, charging back towards where he’d last seen her. Because he needed to see her… His soulmate…
But the table was empty, and the girl? Nowhere to be found…
Robby’s heart clenched. Where did she go? He looked around frantically, the longer he came up empty handed the more worried he became, as his thoughts ran wild with what he was going to do now. He’d never met her without a mask on. He didn’t know her name, or literally anything about her. How was he going to find her?
And then, Robby caught sight of an all too familiar green dress, and almost sighed in relief. That is, until he realized it was running, so fast you’d think she was being chased, and so far in the opposite direction…
“No! Wait!”
In any other circumstance, Robby definitely would have caught her. While she was running incredibly fast for someone in a floor length poofy dress and heels, Robby’s own dress clothes were much more equipped for the exercise. But the crowd was so big and everyone was pushing him back towards the mess he was trying to get away from, and she just kept getting further and further away.
“Stop! Please!”
But by the time Robby had finally made it through, she was gone again, though this time leaving something behind…
He kneeled down with a frown, picking up the little keychain that seemed to have fallen away from the others in her haste to leave, hope growing in his chest at the thought that maybe this could be a clue to help him find her. But then his blood ran cold as Robby read the words printed across the leather…
COBRA KAI KARATE
Ah, sh*t…

Man, I haven't done a transcript in a while...
Editor's Letter: GHOULS ON FILM
Tobias Forge has always been wildly ambitious. After throwing everything at Ghost in his last real shot as a professional musician, he established the band as an occult-rock force you couldn't look away from, all shady Nameless Ghouls and papal vestments. As the years rolled by, Tobias might have unmasked, but the Ghost legend has only grown. Back at their early gigs in 2010, few could have predicted they'd have their own actual movie in 2024. Like everything Ghost do, Rite Here Rite Now has been kept tightly under wraps, but Tobias was kind enough to grant our Paul Brannigan an audience, and reveal the behind-the-scenes machinations that led to such a triumph of creativity. And if you're reading this letter on June 20, the day the magazine goes on sale and the day the film premieres, you're probably about to experience his vision for yourself. "This is not a tale about death, but one of life…" intones the voicover on Rite Here Rite Now's spooktacular, schlock'n'roll trailer. While we can't say for certain if Papa IV will survive in his current form, we certainly hope Ghost are around to entertain us for a long time to come.
Stay metal, Eleanor Goodman, Editor
RITES. CAMERA. ACTION! From dancing ghouls to…dead Papas? Tobias forge takex us behind the scenes of Rite Here Rite Now, Ghost's new movie spectacular. Words: Paul Brannigan - Lives: Ryan Chang - Portraaits: Travis Shinn
[Accompanying photo: two-page spread of the Forum Ritual, taken during Con Clavi Con Dio, with Papa downstage center holding the thurible. Caption: "Everything Ghost do is BIG. We expect no less from the film"]
Last year, in case you didn't notice, those "hands that threaten doom" which Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson once sang about, inched 10 seconds closer to midnight. The Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the people who created the Doomsday Clock back in 1947 to gauge how close humanity is to destroying the world, reset the minute hand for the 25th time since its creation, moving it closer to the hour than it has ever been. So the prospect of imminent global catastrophe is now ever more pronounced, which, to be honest, is something of a bummer.
"We are approaching the end of an era. So let's have a good time." It was with these equally doom-laden words that Papa Emeritus IV, Ghost's puckish frontman, welcomed the faithful to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 11 last year, for the first of two 'rituals' bringing the Re-Imperatour USA 2023 tour to a close. For those in attendance, the weight of those words hung heavily in the air.
In February last year, news that a second night at the 17,500-capacity venue had been added to the end of the Swedish band's tour schedule, after the first show sold out, was delivered in Chapter 16 of the occult rock collective's web series. The episode, titled Tax Season, was accompanied by a message from "The Clergy" stating, "We wish to inform you that in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes."
The clip itself featured none-too-subtle hints that Papa Emeritus IV may not be long for this world; at one point, while he's playing a retro racing video game, he's distracted by the sight of a glass coffin being wheeled past his door, and when his attention returns to his TV screen, the words 'Game Over!!!!!!' appear. In Ghost world, where every symbol is scrutinised to the nth degree by the faithful, this was interpreted as a warning that the writing was on the wall for this Papa in the City of Angels. And when it was revealed that the group's two-night stand at the Forum was to be filmed for a future film release, with all phones to be confiscated from patrons upon entry, we feared the worst.
Hammer duly dispatched Associate Editor Dave Everley to Los Angeles to bear witness to what promised to be the gravest chapter yet in Ghost's evolution. At the conclusion of the second night at the Forum, however, Papa IV - "channelling the ghosts of Freddie Mercury and vintage Willy Wonka", Dave noted - was still standing, indeed dancing…but there was a lingering suspicion that there was more to be revealed.
Then, on May 1 this year, came a new message: the announcement that Rite Here Rite Now, Ghost's debut feature film, chronicling the events in Los Angeles, would be screened in cinemas worldwide on June 20 and 22. And those studying the minutiae of the film poster observed that the letter "o" in the final word of the title had been substituted for an analogue clock, its hands positioned at - and you might be ahead of us here - two minutes to midnight. Well, well, well…
"The Doomsday Clock is not an actual clock - it's more of a measuring tool for us to understand how near we are to fucking things up. But it's not like a timer on a bomb, and that means that we can still change things around. And this film is a little bit about that, about turning around and changing your ways, even if it's just your attitude towards things."
The real world time is 6:30pm (BST) on May 9, and an email has just informed us that 'Mary Goore' has joined our Zoom call from Stockholm. Those familiar with Ghost's pre-history will be aware that this was Tobias Forge's stage name in both his death metal band Repugnant and his glam metal outfit Crashdiet, and though he chooses today to keep his camera off, the voice on the call is unmistakably that of Ghost's 43-year-old leader. The trailer for Rite Here Rite Now premiered exactly four and a half hours ago, and as far as Tobias can ascertain, it's been "well met" so far the only "concerns" he as noticed to date bein raised by fans worried that the film has not yet been booked into picture houses in their homelands.
"The film is being distributed in many countries, but not all," he explains, "so I understand that there were some voices that felt like we'd overlooked this or that country. It's like when you announce a tour, and immediately get 'Why aren't you coming to… [insert country name]?' That wasn't our decision, I can't tell you why, it's just that some countries didn't want the film, or whatever."
Officially, the first seeds for Rite Here Rite Now were planted in Tobias's mind "over a decade" ago.
"When Ghost got signed to Loma Vista, Tom Whalley [owner and CEO] asked what the story of the band was," he explained in the press release announcing the film. "He felt telling a story was vital in order to get new fans engaged. I said that because we were a new 'baby' band and, more importantly, we were an anonymous baby band, there wasn't really a compelling story to tell. Not yet anyway. But I told him that if he wanted a story, I could come up with one. This film is the fruit of that conversation."
Those who've follwed the band from their earliest days, however, will know that, from the outset, Ghost emerged accompanied by a sense of theatre. Back in 2012, when I spoke to Swedish journalist Richard Lagergren, formerly the guitarist in the band Portrait, and the first 'outsider' to be informed of the existence of Ghost, he used the words "very cinematic, very surreal and very intense" to describe his first encounter with the group. He revealed that he was at his home one Sunday afternoon in October 2010, when he received a phone call telling him that a local band wished to see him. Within an hour, a car pulled up outside his home, and he was blindfolded, driven into the countryside and led into a disused warehouse, where, once his blindfold was removed, he found himself face-to-face with Papa Emeritus and five Nameless Ghouls, and was informed that he had been selected to begin disseminating word of Ghost's Satanic ministry to the world. This was very much not how bands were expected to conduct their business in 2010, and it telegraphed, from day one, Tobias's (still present) desire to keep Ghost out of step with standard, traditional music industry conventions.
[Accompanying photo: Portrait of Papa IV taken in his costume from the start of the show - gold Huntsman jacket, black pirate shirt, black ascot with devil scarf ring, distressed black pants. He is staring at the camera, his arms crossed and his hands at shoulder height, making the sign of the horns. Caption: "What delights are up Tobias's ornate sleeves this time?"]
"From the start, we were cutting against the grain," he reflects. "If you think back to that time, it was the beginning of when the music industry demanded a sort of hyper-frantic online presence from bands, and every band was updating Facebook as soon as they did anything, sending out private messages, like, 'Hey, everyone, don't forget to buy tickets!' I said immediately to my label, 'I don't wanna do that, I fucking hate that shit, and I don't wanna be part of that…and we're a fucking anonymous band.'
"So it was an issue, and we had to steer around a lot of those things, while figuring out, 'How do we communicate with the world what we want to communicate?' We had to figure out ways to sort of cable out a story to the world, a story that we didn't really have at that time, or a story that I didn't want to tell. Because what was that story going to be? My story? No, fuck that. So I said 'I'm gonna come up with a story, and it might unfold in the form of short little online episodes.' And Tom Whalley was like 'OK, I'm intrigued. What do you want to do?'
"So we started doing these episodes about The Ministry, with our little commercial messages attached, and it turned out fun. But obviously it became very complicated: there's a reason why bands just turn on their phones and are like, 'We're coming to Brazil!' It's so much easier. Whereas everything that we've ever done has always been way more complicated. But lots of fun, too. And so, via those web episodes, the story has really taken shape. The idea of making a film has been in my head for years, and I've always been adamant about the web episodes not being too detailed, because you don't want to paint yourself into a corner, so there's been a lot of loose threads. But I figured that I could take these loose threads, tie them together in some sort of comprehensible form, and that could be the film. And that's why we're talking today, finally!"
If you think that today Tobias Forge is going to outline exactly what happens onscreen in Rite Here Rite Now, you really haven't been paying attention to how Ghost operate. For as much as Tobias loves theatre and showmanship, he also treasures and truly values the mystique around his band. And that has its roots in the way he himself discovered his favourite bands as a teenager. For as much as he loved Kiss, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, the Sex Pistols and Venom, the young Tobias Forge was equally immersed in an underground extreme metal community where anonymity was prized above adulation.
"A lot of the bands that I grew up listening to weren't very famous at all," he recalls. "Some of them didn't ever play live, some 'bands' were actually one guy in his bedroom, and you knew very little about anyone. And when these bands did communicate with the world, it was through fanzines, and very adolescent interviews where they gave outrageous, very provocative answers. That helped cement my magnetism towards maintaining mystique, and back in 2010, I definitely thought that there was a way where Ghost could achieve some sort of success whilst 100% maintaining a mystique. And over the years, I've learned that was hard…but then I never thought we'd be as successful as we are.
"The best way to be anonymous in a band is by not forming a band. Don't do it! It's counterintuitive to remain anonymous if you want to be in a big professional band, and it's counterintuitive to sign with a major label who want to break your band. I've always been under the impression that in order to become a representative of the night, you have to be supernatural, but now it's time to let the world in on the story so far, to some extent."
[Accompanying image: Papa IV on stage during Year Zero, microphone in his left hand, his right hand counting two. Caption: "Is Papa IV on borrowed time?"]
With Rite Here Rite Now, Tobias admits that he's in "virgin territory". But here's what we're allowed to know. The film takes place over the course of one evening, with a narrative centered around a gig in Los Angeles, but with flashbacks referencing storylines in the Ghost 'webisodes', which began on YouTube in March 2018. For metal fans, the concept of a feature film blending a live show with a dramatic narrative will likely call to mind Metallica's bold and largely incomprehensible 2013 film Through The Never, a commercial disaster for the band, with James Hetfield subsequently admitting that it "disappeared" and describing the entire experience as "bittersweet". Tobias insists that, actually, there are no overlaps in what he set out to do with Ghost's film - "that film was never a guiding light" are his exact words - and he cites two alternate films as much more instructive in terms of his ambitions.
"As we were pitching the film, the two films that I mentioned a lot in orer for people to try to comprehend artistically what I'm trying to do were [The Rolling Stones' 1983 concert film] Let's Spend The Night Together mixed with [The Sex Pistols' 1980 'mockumentary'] The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle. There is a sense of an origin story, but it's very much a story that takes place during an evening. So you sort of step right into what is happening right there and right then, and maybe the main character's inability, or unwillingness, to be there.
"One issue, or one challenge, that we faced was making a film that was comprehensible to anyone who had no clue about what Ghost is," he continues. "We have a very, very passionate fanbase, who, to a large degree at least, are very aware of everything that goes on with Ghost. The easy part, conceptually, was to make a film that would please them, because they know the story already, they know the context that we are now extending with this film, because it's basically picking up where the last episodes ended. But we wanted it to be that someone who doesn't know shit about the story gets brought up to speed pretty quickly. But this is where my ability to be objective ends, because I'm wondering, 'Do people understand what I'm saying here? Do people get that?'
"Obviously, as with everyone else, I'm a Star Wars fan, and that worked pretty well in the sense where you just crash land right into the story. That works where the message of the film is quite simple, and I think that the message that we're trying to convey with this film is to be right here right now, and not anywhere else. That's what I'm hoping everyone will understand."
[Accompanying photo: Papa and the ghouls backstage before the show. Caption: "What role will the Ghouls play in Rite Here Rite Now?"]
This sounds quite straightforward on paper. But, as Tobias was to quickly learn, the film business is not straightforward, not when films cost 'x million' dollars to make, and someone has to stump up those 'x million' dollars to get it from scripts and storyboards to the screen. Making a film, Tobias says with a very audible sigh, is so much more complicated than making a record, not least because the trust that an artist accumulates working in the music business doesn't necessarily translate to being trusted with a multi-million dollar film budget.
"The film had to go through discussions with finance people who were as curious about the content as you are," he says, diplomatically. "And let's just say that I sometimes struggled to convey what we were just talking about, and not everyone understood it. I'd be saying, 'Look, this is not really, you know, just us live from the Forum.' And they were like, 'Well, could you scrap the live show and just do a film about something else?' And I'd say, 'Well, that kinda defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to sell to you.' So that was a little bit weird."
The end result of such conversations was that no financial backer came onboard for the film, and Ghost and their management ended up funding the whole process - which, he says, ultimately simplified things. But the uncertainty meant that acclaimed Swedish filmmaker Jonas Akerlund - famously once a member of Bathory, and a creative visionary who's made music videos for the likes of Madonna, The Prodigy, U2 and more, as well as directing films such as Lords of Chaos and Spun - decided to step away from potentially directing the film to instead take on a co-producer role, and to advise Tobias as a friend.
In his place, as director, came American filmmaker Alex Ross Perry. He first saw Ghost opening up for Iron Maiden in New York in July 2017, at the conclusion of Maiden's North American tour for The Book of Souls, and subsequently directed the band's own 'mockumentary' Metal Myths, as well as the fabulously provocative promo video for the band's cover of Genesis's 1992 single, Jesus He Knows Me.
"He was obviously the right choice," says Tobias, "and a no-brainer to come aboard, because not only is he a very, very nice guy, but he also totally understands the band.
"Jonas was very involved with all the legwork beforehand, but when he stepped down as the director, and became a producer, it actually made things a little bit easier, because he became less stressed about it; all of a sudden he became calm, and just became my friend instead, pushing everything along. At no point did I feel like I'd bitten off more than I could chew, but the whole thing was definitely a huge learning experience.
"A lot of film studios sometimes struggle to comprehend something that isn't mainstream," he adds. "Like, it's not uncommon that you might want to make a film about, say, a historical event, and they would be, like, 'Hmmm, it's really depressing that the boat sinks in the end. Can it not do that?' And you're like, 'Well, no, the story is about these two lovers that meet on the sinking boat, and yeah, he dies in the end.' 'But that's so depressing! Can we make a different ending?' 'Er, No.' 'Well, we don't want to pay for that.' That's the sort of shit you're up against."
For Tobias, Rite Here Rite Now is clearly the biggest project that he's ever taken on, but Ghost fans shouldn't worry that they're about to lose their hero to Hollywood. At one point today, he mentions his work on the next Ghost album, specifically saying that he's "synchronising" his work on the film with the new record, so we may get an announcement on that sooner rather than later.
There remains one last matter to discuss. In each chapter of Ghost's journey to date, there has been death and renewal, with a new Papa coming along at the end of each cycle to replace the outgoing bandleader. And yet Papa IV was not killed off in Los Angeles. So, Tobias, is he going to transition into the next cycle?
A drawn out "Errrrrrrr…" comes through the speakers before an answer arrives.
"He will be with us, yeah. For a lifetime, if you will. As everyone is."
Okaaaaaay. But will Papa V also be appearing soon?
"I hope so."
At this point, the band's PR steps in to advise that we have one last question. So we ask if Rite Here Rite Now is close to the vision Tobias had in his head when he first embarked upon this ambitious undertaking.
"It's never, you know, 100%," he answers, "but pretty damn close. A lot of things that I think scared people in meetings a year ago, are things that I know that we pulled off. As an artist, people want you to dream big, but I always try to come up with things that are actually doable.
"Everything with Ghost is difficult and expensive, but the records are getting closer to what I imagine, and this film turned out pretty close to what I envisioned. And when I see the film, even I look at the show and go, 'That's pretty entertaining, that's pretty cool.' This is a film that you have not seen before. And you can all tell me what you thought when you see me next, OK?"
SIDEBAR ARTICLE 1: "I'M IN AWE OF TOBIAS!" Rite Here Rite Now director Alex Ross Perry explains how he helped Ghost's mastermind realise his vision.

Pennsylvania-born filmmaker Alex Ross Perry has a CV that includes helming music videos for the likes of Kim Gordon, Pavement, Sleigh Bells and Bully; writing, producing and directing acclaimed grunge/punk movie Her Smell; and creating Ghost's brilliant 2022 mockumentary, Metal Myths. However, he explains, working with Tobias Forge on Rite Here Rite Now was an experience like no other.
How did you and Tobias first come into one another's orbit? "I first saw Ghost opening up for Iron Maiden in New York, at the Barclays Center, seven years ago, and then I went on YouTube and had a lot of fun diving into their music videos. I'd done work for [Ghost's US record label] Loma Vista, and so I said to them, 'Nothing I've done is in the world of this band, but I'm a big fan, so if you ever need anything in the world of Ghost, my hand is raised.' And a couple of months later, I was asked if I wanted to create an official/unofficial Ghost mockumentary, streamlining the narrative woven into the band's story, and that became Metal Myths, which launched on April Fool's Day 2022."
How was that received? "I know that Tobias really liked what we did with that, and thought it was an amazing testament to his work and creativity. So then I was asked to curate an event at the Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles to celebrate Ghost's Grammy nomination [for Best Metal Performance, for Call Me Little Sunshine], and we had some fun working on the Mary On The Cross [sic] 1969 era. While I was out in LA, we did the Jesus He Knows Me music video too, and I was told, 'We're doing a movie,' so I said 'Well, if you need any help, I'm here.'"
What did you make of Tobias when you first spoke to him? "I was, and am, a huge admirer of everything that he's built, so I was in awe of his creativity and the scope of his vision, and I remain so having now collaborated with him on this movie. He's one of the greats, in terms of the vision he has. He's a nerd, a repository for information and references to music history and film history, and that is incredibly rare. His vision has taken him so far in 10 years, and in 10 years' time it'll have taken him even further. My favorite band is Kiss, and Tobias might say the same, but they stumbled when they tried to branch out with [1978 TV film] Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park, whereas Tobias built a visual narrative into the Ghost solar system from the beginning. Working with him was constantly inspiring."
What was the most challenging part of the whole process for you? "It was just logistically very complex. It was challenging being at the Forum, shooting scenes that we were going to connect with scenes that we would be filming five months later."
How much creative input did you get to have, and how much were you able to bring your own vision to what was already mapped out? "I consider it a real collaboration between the two of us. His vision for the storytelling is crystal clear, but even though the A to Z is mapped out, there's so much room to discuss what happens from B to Y. You could just talk all night about that, and we did many times, like, 'Does this happen?' 'Is this joke funny?' 'Should this scene have no dialogue?' I took ideas that were not possible and turned them into ideas that are possible. We sat on his tourbus one month before the Forum and just talked until 4 or 5am about every story beat, every scene, every moment between the characters. It was such an amazing experience from start to finish."
SIDEBAR ARTICLE 2: "I'D SIT WATCHING FILMS ALL NIGHT, THEN HAVE A HORRENDOUS NEXT DAY IN SCHOOL!" Five flicks that fired the imagination of teenage cinephile Tobias Forge
[Accompanying photo: A third portrait of Papa IV in the gold jacket, staring directly into the camera and throwing the horns with both hands. Caption: "What the Devil will Tobias do next?"]
By his own admission, Tobias Forge is a film nerd, who watched "everything, all the time."
"I've always been very interested in cinema," he says. "As a kid, I'd watch everything that my older brother and his friends were watching, and as soon as I was old enough, I had a TV and VCR in my bedroom. I spent so much time in front of the TV playing guitar and watching films - French drama, comedy, horror, action, all kinds of films. I'd sit watching films all night, then have a horrendous next day in school! Anyone who has a record collection and video collection similar to mine will recognize lots of little references in our film."
Here are five films that regularly got slotted into the video cassette recorder in Tobias's teenage bedroom.
THE FUNHOUSE (Tobe Hooper, 1981) Tacky, violent and unpleasantly scary slasher flick set in a traveling carnival, directed by Tobe Hooper, who had produced, co-written and directed 1974's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. A commercial failure, but one with cult appeal for fans of 80s 'video nasties'.
SCARFACE (Brian De Palma, 1983) Endlessly quotable and unrelentingly violent crime drama depicting the rise and fall of drug lord Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino. One of the most iconic gangster films ever made, referenced on countless gangsta rap records. All together now: "Say hello to my little friend!"
C.H.U.D. (Douglas Cheek, 1984) Schlocky sci-fi horror about murderous humanoids roaming the sewers of New York City. Ghost pal Dave Grohl was also a fan of the movie. His teenage band, Mission Impossible, recorded a song called C.H.U.D. with a chorus that ran: 'Chaotic Hardcore Underage Delinquents! Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers!'
BETTY BLUE (Jean-Jacques Beineix, 1986) Impossibly intense French 'erotic psychological drama' featuring lots of philosophical musing, lots of steamy sex, and an inevitable slide into madness. A cult classic, which shifted tens of thousands of film posters to art and film studies students worldwide, it made 21-year-old Beatrice Dalle an international sex symbol.
LES AMANTS DU PONT-NEUF (Leos Carax, 1991) Another intense, wordy French drama about a doomed, obsessive love affair, staring a young Juliette Binoche as homeless artist Michele besotted with alcohol-and-pills-addicted wannabe circus performer Alex (Denis Lavant). The film went insanely over-budget and took forever to shoot; by the end, real-life lovers Binoche and Carax had split.
Copped the Ghost Metal Hammer so thought I’d share the contents for anyone who may not be able to buy it for themselves (the article and Tobias interview is Rite Here Rite Now spoiler free!)
