absolutely love his work to death and find his artistic process both endlessly fascinating and extremely relatable. i too am a perfectionist who absolutely can not throw any of my notes or old materials out (i keep copies of every single thing i create, every single draft, etc etc etc, the thought of deleting anything or throwing it away giving me extreme anxiety), need to endlessly and obsessively go over my work to make sure it is as perfect as it possibly can be—that i haven’t missed anything that could possibly make it even better—thus making my process ten times longer than it should be, and have extreme trouble delegating tasks to other people because i know they won’t ‘do it right’ so i must do it all myself. so i find comfort in his process hahaha because it makes me feel less alone and less fucking crazy. overall though i think his work is incredible and i think he was very talented. my favourite kubrick film is a toss up between a clockwork orange and the shining c:

also speaking of biscuits JAFFA CAKES ! if u are not a chocolate orange girlie then these may not be ur cup of tea however they are incredible and i have been known to hoover entire packs in one sitting (plus aldi has a jaffa cake tea which is also a+)

(also percy pigs. if u can snag a bag of percy pigs i highly recommend)

fish n chips if u are a meat/fish eater. dont go to a fancy restaurant for it, find a good chippie near u, that's where the best (and cheapest) fish and chips come from

also if u are a meat eater, u gotta do a full english breakfast. it hits even better if ur hungover but it truly is peak british excellence

pub lunch!! it is essentially a variety of (admittedly overpriced) fried foods but a pub lunch is like the quintessential british experience. especially with a good pint if u are a drinker. also i will say you will never be more than 100 feet from a pub so if in doubt duck into one of those

if u can, grab hold of scones (british scones i mean, the ones that americans call biscuits) with some clotted cream and strawberry jam. oooooomf its so good. also be warned there are some politics involved with whether you put jam or cream first so be prepared to swear into a bloodoath the first time u make one

central london can be a lot but if ur around defo check out buckingham palace, it's so beautiful!! it's also right beside st james's park which is soo nice to sit and get an ice cream at (ps if you can make it for changing of the guard it's actually kinda cool! afaik it happens at around 11ish every monday thursday friday and saturday (but double check that) but its soo fun)

if u can avoid oxford street. its just so busy and crowded there and u will not have fun LOL

a personal recommendation is the huge waterstones in piccadilly, it is actually a dream there

kew gardens!! its a lil bit out the way but its sooo gorgeous there, it's a royal botanical garden and especially in the summer its so nice (plus if you're a ted lasso fan richmond is also super close by for that so you can pop down !).

if you can, try pop to the west end ! you can get tickets pretty reasonably cheap if youre okay with not incredible seats and there's always a bunch of super cool things playing.

natural history museum and also the science museum!!! do i need to say any more, theyre SO cool. and natural history has a life-size dinosaur model called dippi and she's my whole world

camden markets and borough markets are also super cool and u can always find some really funky things there. i got the cooolest pair of earrings and my sister is collecting borough market bowls like a mad woman (plus camden has a food market stall which is also v nice!!!)

im so sorry i feel like i honked at u like a tour guide but for a first-time uk visit these are all my top suggestions!!!!! i hope ur london trip goes SO well next year (and keep ur fingers crossed i can join u by snagging a uk ticket in the general sale next week 😩)

i actually used to have way wilder writing habits in the past! i would basically go write wherever inspired me. an empty bathtub. on the branch of a (sturdy) tree. on the roof of a car once. and also at absolutely ungodly hours because i used to be an insomniac.

now i'm a fairly boring and stable writer! i'll make a cup of something warm and sweet to drink and set up at my desk. i also have to take an interregional train for work, so i write on my commute! the only cursed thing is how much i have to write by hand now. i got sniped by long covid and often can't handle screens + my brain is slower now, which is frustrating when i'm typing, so i've started writing by hand to give myself the illusion that my body and brain have harmonious velocity.

4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

this is an interesting question! i'm going to pick the first word that comes to mind in a writing context: lover. something about that term butters my bread intensely.

25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

i have a list of these, especially for longer fics! the first thing i can think of is simultaneously specific and general: any tsukki i've ever written is in the top 0.1% listeners of daft punk.

Hello My Dearest Smoothie Anon! I apologize for somehow missing this last night omg you are incredible for embracing the clean girl aesthetic! I am the... opposite of the clean girl aesthetic I never gave up the indie sleaze of my youth haha I hope you were able to have a good Monday at work despite the call outs and that if it wasn't the best that coming home to a clean home made it better! Diet Coke is like 99% of my personality. Is it extremely bad for me? Yes. Do I love it almost as much as I love Pop? Also yes. I love my DC and will not be giving it up. I also love energy drinks - I was a white monster girlie but I've been branching out into Celsius lately since I would usually drink them before like being active / and apparently that's the best time to drink a Celsius? I also LOVE coffee, I will never turned down an caramel latte (hot OR iced) with oat milk. I don't like hot tea, but I do get a blueberry lavender iced tea from this local coffee shop every morning. Diet Coke will always be my main love though.

I was originally thinking a girl because I feel like Fictional!George has girl dad energy BUT I'm not fully decided yet and I am open to hearing peoples cases for a boy if they want to share!

I think all of my Fictional!Georges care about their skin, making sure to wash their face and moisturize. ATKH Fictional!George in particular is very concerned about sunscreen and thinks that Fictional!Matty needs to get on the sunscreen train. Meanwhile, Fictional!Matty has been wearing the same eyeliner for three days. Infection Verse Fictional!Matty is getting better about it as he gets older though, and On a Friday Fictional!Matty had a routine before his body fell apart - now he's just proud of himself when he manages to wash his hair.
