I'm rewatching The Owl House from the very beginning, and every time a different character comes on screen all I can do is think about how they grow by the end of the series and how beautiful it all is

I have a small draft of an Gravity Falls/The Owl House au where Eda and Stan bond while trying to find a way to divorce without making the autorities aware of their location and decide to became a two people (later three for Raine reasons)/two realms rock band.

Featuring:

- Stan being way too unafected by the weirdness of the Demon Realm.

- Raine Whispers failing their task of remaining only friends with their ex after joining her band and instead getting back together (she opens up about her curse and now they just can't find a reason not to). [Look Raine fully got involved because a) Raeda is my OTP and more importantly b) Stan is just a really good wingman]

- Fiddleford complicated journey where he abandons his wife (and lowkey his son) for a scientist; does not tell the people involved (including the scientist); gets friendzone because of a triangle; gets a crush on a rockstar; does not question the fact the rockstar looks like mullet Ford sans glasses until he introduces his favorite band to his partner/bff/guy who chose a triangle over him; discovers Pines Twin drama

- Stan tries to sing a "hey we could be best brothers again it was an accident and I'm sorry" ballad but Ford is too distracted by the fact Stan bandmates are witches.

- Ford in the Demon Realm. Ford in the Demon Realm. Ford is living his autistc dreams in the Demon Realm. Ford has glyths now look out. Ford in the Demon Realm.

- Bill in the Demon Realm. He is pissing off a bigot and being a bad influence to an infant god. Do I hear a hurray?

- Please please please see my vision of Bill babysitting Enzo Gabriel... I mean The Collector.

- Baby King enters the picture at some point.

- Hooty meeting Bill. (Also at some point Hooty HAS to met Soos, I can not explain why this is important to me but it is).

- Sibbling drama featuring Lilith and Eda and Stan and Ford.

- Raeda wingmans Fiddlestan.

- The Collector accidentaly wingmans Billford somehow.

- At some point in history the band devolves from a hit band to a footnote on the history of indie rock 80's bands (basically they just hit BIG in the Demon Realm and end up negleting the human realm) and everyone forgets it until the day ten year old Luz Noceda creates her first AMV using one of their songs and decides that's her favorite band ever.

- Dipper is also a fan. Mabel isn't exactaly a fan as much as she love like one specific song and also thinks 90's Raine is cute.

Crowley and Aziraphale (Ineffable Husbands) from Good Omens vs. Hooty and Lilith from The Owl House!

Propaganda for Ineffable Husbands:

They are each others everything; they discarded their former affiliations to form their own sides; they are the best of friends and so close that they can't imagine life without each other. But they also *canonically* (at least in the books) do not experience sexual attraction, or romantic attraction, at least not in the same way humans do; their relationship *cannot* be defined by something as simple as romance, and this is a view the author (Neil Gaiman) has endorsed. Hence, queer platonic.

EEEEEEEE they're so CUTE and they LOVE each other and the fact that this love doesn't have to be specifically romantic doesn't make it less REAL and that warms my aspec heart.

In the book they’ve been friends for thousands of years and are v involved in each other’s lives (routinely have dinner ‘dates’, Crowley frequently hangs out at Aziraphale’s bookshop, generally hanging out and stuff.) Since their not human, they don’t really understand human relationships, love, and gender which makes their relationship v queer. They’re mistaken as a couple by other characters despite not being in a romantic relationship. In the show the same things happen and new scenes are added showing how their friendship grew, them becoming much more devoted to each other, and various struggles they’ve had in their relationship. (ei. Sorta breaking up, them each wanting different things out of life)

they've known each other for over 6,000 years. they saved the world together. they have saved each other over and over again. they love each other so deeply and you can see their love for each other in everything they do. as an aromantic queerplatonic person they embody what queerplatonic love means to me so perfectly

Propaganda for Hooty and Lilith:

Lilith is canon aro/ace. Hooty is her weird bff like he's never really had a true friend before and now he's finally found someone he's connected with. Lilith is finally processing her trauma and stopping repressing everything. Hooty has helped her grow and supports her journey emotionally. Hooty and Lilith write letters frequently when they are apart. The show emphasizes how they are the only ones who truly understand each other and that their relationship is special and other characters don't really understand it but are happy that they're happy.

So, this episode was filler, but is also wasn't. Lots of little bits of information. And Lumity becoming canon. Much happy. Very rejoice.

King went thru puberty and gained some powers. Like witches do. He's not a demon. I'm still leaning on him being a Titan, tho. Unless there's a strange type of super rare demon that aren't a part of the 3 B's. That's possible, I suppose.

Eda's gaining control of her curse. I'm thinking she's going to make peace with it some time soon, and be a total boss in her harpy form.

We learned that Eda and Lily's father lost his eye when Eda lost control as a child. I'm hoping, whenever we see him again, that he doesn't hold that against her.

I'm thinking Lily's going to come back soon. Hooty needs his bff.

Also, we haven't seen anything with Camila and the Author of the letters in a while. They need to make an appearance soon.

And Hooty ate King's letter. It's going to be a few episodes before it shows back up, isn't it? *sigh* Alright, then.

the recurring potshots at JoRane's intellectual property this season sure are.

this was produced and came out during the years she went public about losing her fucking mind, so like. everyone had to deal with it in the way they felt was appropriate. i'm not really out to judge the exact timbre of one's response so long as said response does not align with her bigotry, and i sympathize with the petty joy of belittling something owned by somone hateful, especially if that something once meant a lot to you...

i guess i'm just not super comfortable with it because a) you're still picking at a wound even if you end up making funny shapes out of the scabs, b) these hot takes are about general magic-school tropes but often are so specifically about her it feels like we're giving her credit for creating them, and c) owning her like this feels like an opiate when the real issue isn't that her fictional society is founded on 11 year olds taking one uquiz, or that the fake sport she made up is hideously unbalanced, it's that she's...the leader of hate group

all of which are misgivings i have about the Disney Corporation as well and i get that people don't watch this show to be REMINDED that we live in a society, so like. whatever i'm gonna stop talking about this

because i do want to take this show seriously, and nothing demonstrates "i'm gonna take responsibility for my own actions now" better than using your literal body to bear some of the harm you inflicted on others. it's a very nice way to bring their relationship full circle, and it resonates with other instances when characters are forced to stop defining themselves by outside standards and embrace what they're already good at.

(and what Lilith is good at is soothing the pain of others via self-harm! which i think is the point the Helen's-Type-Generator starts emitting confetti and oily black smoke)

is this the first instance of magic having a cost or rebound in this world? beyond "whew i did a lot of magic today, i'm tired?" hm

Dana Terrace really went "i'm gonna give the whump enthusiasts everything they want" with this trope huh

Going Forward

yes i liked it yes i know the second season is more heavily serialized yes i will watch that soon

this did make me think about how all seriality in TV these days seem to be about building up to one series-wide showdown as opposed to different seasons having their own mytharcs, but that has less to do with this show specific and more with the death of television as a medium and we ain't got time for that

given how much my exposure to this show beforehand was Lumity (to the point where i wasn't sure there were other characters besides Eda) i'm...kinda surprised at how sparse Amity's presence was in this season. i liked what we did see of her, but i went in expecting a lot more antagonism for a lot longer in that dynamic

but i guess that's tied in with this season not having much in the way of antagonism until the very end, and not-Hordak seems to be the only one actually invested in his whole world order. we don't have any sympathetic true believers, which I assumed would be Lilith and/or Amity? i guess neither Shadow Weaver nor Catra really gave a shit about the Horde's ideology either, but Shadow Weaver remained an unrepentant ball of spite until the end and it didn't really matter that Catra didn't give a shit about the Horde because the Horde was the only thing she knew. in contrast Amity and Lilith's ties to the existing system feel very shallow--in the latter case so much so it kind of boggles my willing suspension of disbelief?

i suppose the next season can change that, i know new characters get introduced so--

So like entirely forgot to put her on here so- yeah. I made Hooty a while back because I got too frustrated trying to fix the hats on my other Banana Split designs and just ditched it. Some lovely fun facts are under the image too if you're interested

Hooty was meant to be the lead singer in the band

Her original design I was going to use was for her to be purple but I forgot about that when making her and also I think she would stand out too much

Hooty is actually Fleegles sister [the people who adopted Fleegle thought they did such a good job they got another kid 😒]

She was missing until the events of Jellystone (so after the shows, concerts, and the movie that all happened in my AU)

What happened? Why was she missing? How tf did she come back unharmed? Poppy. Yes, from the Banana Splits movie. [Poppy kidnapped her when the Splits ran away- this is my friends idea]

If Annoying Orange was in TOH

First things first, Orange and his friends are all living with Luz and Camila. He tags along with Luz when she wanders into the Demon Realm

Is usually either on her head, in a backpack, a or on her shoulder

He has a machine gun on him so the other demons have nothing on him. Like he sees Warden Wrath or the Greater basilisk and he is shooting at them nonstop

He and Hooty are BFF’s. No, I will not take critcism

He’ll obviously annoy literally anyone and everyone, but it’s the most fun when he’s annoying all the villains

In Season 1, he sticks by Luz cuz she’s the only person he knows, but in Season 2, he starts going with Eda, Willow, Gus, Lilith, and even starts wandering off on his own!

The characters who hate him the most are Belos (obviously), Odalia, Kikimora, Hermonculus, Adrian, Darius, Amity, and Hunter (although he would probably warm up to him during Season 3)

Boscha hates him too. He keeps making puns about her third eye

Keeps getting Kikimora’s name wrong

Flaunts off his “magical” ability to touch his tongue to his eyeballs

“Are all fruits in the Human Realm like this?”-Gus, probably

Whenever he mocks Odalia, you can hear Alador snicker

He’d have an absolute ball with Adrian, calling him catboy and whatnot.

“I’m sure the emperor will be interested in knowing that one of his captains was defeated by a couple teenagers….and an orange.”

In “Eda’s Requiem”, he makes puns out of Raine’s name, annoys the BATTS by playing his kazoo nonstop (that’s his idea of bard magic), calls Darius a purple goop man, and calls Eberwolf “a midget furry”

Terra would spare his life only because they bond over plant puns

Gets in on Luz and King’s bread puns

If he met the Collector, they’d probably like each other

Honestly the more I think about it the more I think they could have done some great things with Lilith adopting the Collector.

They could have showed that you don't need a romantic partner/interest in romance in order to want to adopt kids. (The creator's have said that Lilith is aroace.) (All if not most of the parental figures in the show currently are shown to either be widowed, divorced, or in the process of getting into a romantic relationship, etc. Implying that they have had or will have a romantic partner to help parent the kid(s).)

King and the Collector as the type of cousins that are raised really close to each other and thus become besties/bffs. They can still be a great troublemaking duo as cousins. Siblings aren't the only familial relationship that exists for kiddos!

Protective Uncle Hooty. Protective Uncle Hooty. Y'all just know he'd be way more doting on the Collector if they were Lulu's kiddo.

The Collector using his powers to help Lilith construct/restore historical buildings. (He literally made a crown shaped castle, the dude's gotta have some interest in architecture.)

A callback to Lilith trying to protect King and calling him her nephew with Eda protecting/speaking up for the Collector and calling him her nephew. The Collector learning what that aunts/uncles are really supposed to be like, outside of Belos, both with how Eda interacts with them and how Lilith interacts with King.

I've been back and forth on whether I wanted Eda or Camila to adopt the Collector.

But no lie when I saw the Collector working with Lilith to free everyone from being puppets and then walking up to and looking up at her I somehow accidentally 1000% assumed she had adopted them.

...Until it was revealed that he was just giving her Hooty. And that they then left to be alone in the stars, parentless. :/

But I mean come on just imagine how smug about adopting them she'd be towards Eda!

Lilith, busting into the Owl House door with the Collector waddling behind her like a little duckling:

Ok, today's episode is Something Ventured, Someone Framed.

I don't remember where we left off. It's been waaaaay too long.

Luz still only knows 1 spell, Mittens Amity's siblings were introduced, Willow is a certified bamf, Gus is... there... doing things, Eda and King are still wanted criminals, and Eda has family problems.

Something happened to cause a rift between Eda and Lilith - something that may have cursed Eda. And may involve the Emperor.

Luz's mom still thinks she's at summer camp. But I feel like that won't be a Thing until later in this season/early next season.

Willow and Amity were BFFs back in the day, but it seems like Amity's family influenced her to leave Willow behind when her powers didn't develop at what they think is a normal time.

And that's it. That's all I remember.

Oh! And Hooty is made up of a good percentage of mucus.

Alright, as for this episode... someone's obviously getting framed for something. Maybe 1 of Eda's many crimes?

Maybe Lilith? Oooooo, that'd be interesting.

Tho, what if it's Gus that gets framed for something? Hmmmmm... yeah. Let's go with that. Gus gets framed for something Eda does or did.
