im so sorry this morning has turned into “warrior cats discourse” but thats what im feeling...

while im on the topic im glad that tigerheart and dovewing are together but i feel like a core part of dovewings personality was lost in favor of her turning into “dainty wife who needs to go HERE for her babies!”. like as i remember her she was pretty stubborn and could be downright mean at times, even with tigerheart she had a tendency to be kind of snappy and controlling at times. not that she lost that totally, i mean, the narrative did shift to tigerheart in all of their super edition which i thought was okay. it just was weird to see her in the newest series being portrayed so... helplessly. like. i didnt enjoy it.

ivypool on the other hand calmed down a lot, which i mean, was to be expected. i like that shes got a beau who respects her decision and wish to remain a warrior and would take care of their kits.

on a non-criticizing note, i actually really like how they keep jayfeather consistent while also progressing his character. hes not old in the slightest but after what hes been through and done i can understand why new blood like alderheart would run him ragged and make him question a lot about himself. but he also remains wise and thoughtful when hes not busy calling everyone dicks. i love it. hes a good boy. on the other hand lionblaze got like 0 attention, which is kind of sad because hes always been a goofball and its fun to see how he interacts with others.

i REALLY like how tigerhearts death/nine lives ceremony went. i thought that was REALLY cool. i know a lot of people don’t really like the more spiritual fuckery kind of aspect that warriors has taken on but i really like... dig it? i dont know, i know a lot of peoples favorite series is the first and like. i love the first series too but like. straight up my favorite has got to be the fourth series. im such a fucking sucker for like evil manipulative characters manipulating good characters into doing bad things, and then the good overcoming anyways. its so classic but i fall for it every time. i also really love that like. goosefeather hearing ALL the prophecies EVER and seeing dead people? YES. im weak. the first series is significantly more grounded than what has happened in more recent series, but damn. im lame as fr*ck

i also like sincerely love alderheart. i knew i was going to like him from the beginning. part of me wishes that sparkpelt was more relevant? but in the end really neither of them were relevant, twigbranch and violetshine were. it made sense why the series started off with alderpaw and sparkpaw but the narrative shifted so quickly away from them that it was almost like... what was the point of introducing them, in the end. 

also i HATE how they dealt with finleap and twigbranch in the final book. it was stupid and unnecessary. i also really dont like that violetshine is already like knocked up? like. i mean. her and tree or w/e his name is had a cute relationship but like damn. also the fact that she finds out from GOST CAT is stupid as fuck and i will stand by that until i die.
