Hooooooooooo boy. My long time followers should know what time it is. Unpopular opinion time!

Among this small community of ocean liner needs that I call home, I feel as though I stand alone with this opinion, but...

I REALLY don't like the Normandie. On the outside, she looks fat and weird, it looks like a huge chunk of her stem is missing, the artifical sheer is unflattering, and the funnels look too chunky. I just don't get the appeal. But then there's her interiors.

Now, don't get me wrong, I can kinda understand the appeal here. It would be foolish of me to try and claim that this is not beautiful.

BUT. Jesus christ it looks like a god damn art museum. Ocean liners are meant to be COMFORTABLE. They're meant to feel like a HOTEL. You're spending at least 4 days aboard, so the accommodations and decor are EXTREMELY important to the passenger experience. Despite how beautiful these interiors are, they just don't fill that role. Everything is covered in marble and stone and metal. Rooms are tall and thin, which makes them extremely imposing (and also a fire Hazzard, cough cough). Like, if I was aboard I'd be too afraid to get close to the walls. It's like, is it beautiful? Yes? I mean, there's no accounting for taste, but you do you I guess. Do I wanna fucken SLEEP THERE for 4 days? Fuck no. It feels more like a cathedral than a hotel. Normandie leaned VERY hard into the new (at the time) art deco movement. Perhaps too hard. And most, if not all of my sentiments were echoed by passengers at the time. Extravagance so overindulgent feels suffocating. "It's just too much". Oh, also, in an era where liners were ditching their 3 class segregation in favor of 2 classes that were much closer to each other in terms accomodations, Normandie had fucking four. FOUR. AND A MANDATORY DRESS CODE TOO. THIS IS A SHIP NOT A BUSINESS MEETING. Anyway, if you're richer than those disgusting middle class people, but not as rich as the richest people on earth, the Normandie is for you I guess. For comparison, the Queen Mary, which entered service just a year after Normandie, had a much more restrained take on art deco. Still gorgeous, but not overindulgent. Her interiors put masterful artistry on display without sacrificing that warm, welcoming, and inviting atmosphere that an ocean liner should have. I'd include pictures, but I'm already at the 10 picture limit. I might reblog this post with some more pictures. Anyway, Normandie burned down in 1942 because the French line can't help themselves and exclusively make ocean liners that double as tinder boxes.

So yeah, the Normandie is easily the most flagrant display of gaudy overindulgent wealth I've ever seen. Not a fan honestly. Thank you so much for the ask!

So, I'm very interested to know how that'll play into his dynamic with other characters (Fang, for example, seems to take notice, based on the comment he makes in the next screenie).

when i tell y'all i am Foaming At The Mouth over this. Like, it obviously guts me to see Stede crying, but it makes me SO intrigued to know what made him come to the more stark realization, what made him flip from optimistic and bitchy to more somber and pained.

There SEEMS to be some sort of shift sometime around when he sees Ed's wanted poster, because there's that shot of him looking melancholic in the rain. But it doesn't quite seem as stark as THIS.

It makes me wonder if it's a gradual assembly of puzzle pieces, ie finding out about the marooning, then Lucius, then Ed's scourge across the Caribbean, etc etc. And it slooooowly dawns on him that his decision to leave in order to keep Ed happy ended up doing EXACTLY the opposite.

OR, I wonder if this is following the reunion—a PAINFUL one at that. Like, maybe he still was going into it a bit idyllic, and was holding onto the hope that it would still be alright...only for Ed to react poorly/in a way he never anticipated to see. He went into it maybe with a bit of anxiety, but ultimately leaned on the denial...only to have all the fears confirmed.

Or maybe it's a mixture of both. But either way, it's SO so interesting to see him have to SIT with it all. And even though it hurts to see HIM hurt, I'm actually very glad they addressed this and made him feel the heavier weight.

...Only to transition right into silliness here with this shot dHJKSDKLS. ed babe listen i get it. i Get It. i'm right there with you, babe.

My running theory is still that like...Izzy wanted a very specific version of Blackbeard. Izzy wanted someone who no longer exists, or maybe never existed to begin with. And so Izzy thought he was doing right by taking Stede out of the picture and nudging Ed back into a more viscous type of pirating...

Only for that to COMPLETELY backfire, and for Ed to get far more unstable. And like, something something Izzy was already complaining about Ed's "erratic moods" and "questionable decisions" BEFORE Stede came into the picture, so I doubt he's going to be content with Ed's turmoil and all the impulsivity that'll likely come with it.

So maybe, MAYBE, I'm thinking he'll have a bit of growth by realizing that Ed and Stede need each other, or maybe that Ed was way happier when things were smoother between him and Stede, at least. And knowing him and his characterization lol, it might not even be a selfless realization/decision. Maybe he'll only be doing it because he wants a less emotional version of Ed, and thinks that having Stede around and being cordial with him will allow that to happen.

And maybe it leads to even MORE growth when he gets roped into training Stede/the crew idk.

Regardless, REGARDLESS, they are one of the last pairs I ever expected to team up, because they were ACTIVELY bitching at each other all through last season HSDJKS.

And then we've seen all the blue-tinted shots of Ed off on his own somewhere, fight someone/something all the while being accompanied by some unknown figure.

And BECAUSE of the tinting/consistent lighting, and BECAUSE of the figure accompanying him, I have to also wonder like others similarly are...

Is this a DREAM???

Is this some sort of unconscious sequence where Ed works through trauma/hurt/demons? Is that person with him the ghost of Hornigold or another significant figure from his past? And does said sequence end with him jumping from the cliff and allowing the Kraken to disappear back to the gloom???

But something that makes that whole theory SUS is the shots we've gotten of someone, presumably Ed, coming up out of the ocean. And it's not tinted blue like all of these other shots are.

Regardless, REGARDLESS, I think all of this points to Ed going on some sort of journey, some sort of bout of self-discovery and self-acceptance. I think he's going to heal parts of himself, or at least SETTLE with parts of himself, no matter the circumstances. And that would be so good because I want that so badly for him. I want him to be able to do that for himself.

There's A LOT happened since last time you interacted with this blog so uhhm

So there's this blog @/mauricemetsfan (Maurice Spaghetti) whom I started RPing with a while ago we did Some CRAZY plots

And I'll summarize what's going on right now

Since the beginning of Maurice's blog, Maurice got fused with a clone since then he's been always like that, and he had been turned into ALOT of stuff anons seem to love torturing him

So currently Maurice swapped bodies with an AU Version of himself or more like a mirror version

And On one of Our RPs Maurice accidentally fused Peppino with this Clone DNA not any Clone ,A mirrored clone, Which is why Peppino is currently well Inverted

Basically you can say Peppino turned into half clone and evil and he's having eternal battle within himself and he did some crazy shit when he turned evil but he's good... for now

Currently he locked himself up in his pizzeria

As for the catboy thing he's not really a cat he's a dog actually it was done by an ask from another user

There's WAAAY more stuff happened since I started RPing with Maurice but that's not relevant to the current stuff

Ok so the while the big run is still on I managed to get the gold trophy on the SECOND RUN witch is pretty amazing and I hope that you guys will get gold trophy too

Now trophies aside let's start! (Video not mine)

● Hooooooooooo boy it is not going to fun for you at all and I MEAN IT once you two meet each other for first time and it will not be a pleasant experience thanks to your short body

● you couldn't hold up or carry a number of weapons you couldn't really reach up some high places without a chair or a stool and had to use large books as booster seats at times and you yourself even thought you were as smaller than pearl !

● when you two both met in the middle of the lobby at inkopolis Square she thought you were a lost child just sitting around and lost their momma and papa somewhere and when you told her that you were a pure adult

● and after a bunch of clarifications and and repeating for the 15th that you weren't a lost kid she sat right next to you waiting for the next turf war to start until she started to be a little jerk ....

● since you were pretty much substantially shorter than 4 she made constant jokes about you and your stature and time and time again she'll feel like GOD compared to you since she's kinda short herself

" Hey how do you meet other people you do a microwave? " 4 snickered to herself after she made that badly made joke

"Ok not funny man" you said blankly

" How's the ground down there shorty seen every bug down there!?" 4's small snicker turned into a full laugh, you just stared at her with a straight face

● Do anything to make her stop making jokes about your height, bite her really hard. throw something at her face, clog the toilet when she really needs to go anything she throws at you you counter it

● she'll also do her little pranks here and there like set up your favorite snack in a high place or something else that will a she will apologetic if she makes you sad however

● 4 also does likes to play around with your body for a bit if she feels bored or if you're both playing games with each other on the couch lii rubs on the tum some tentacle hair ruffles and some nice TV time together

" Hey Y/n" 4 said with a smug smile on her face

"Hmm?" You respond taking your sight away from your phone and looked straight at 4

"Get cheesed on"

"Wha-?"

*Slap!* 4 just threw a slice of cheese on your face and she scurried her way out

i used to not relate at all to the existential dread that's sorta ubiquitous for a lot people my age, which is mostly bc i've been dying for three-ish years, so i had fully made my peace with my life being over soon. like i was in a mindset a lot of people enter in hospice care where my body was winding down and i was just getting as comfortable as possible and being content with the life i'd already lived.

however.

now. that it looks like i could not only have, but also Enjoy... another 50 or 60 years on this earth.....
