👍: Endearing, welcoming, understanding, and can be very fun. Pretty much wears her heart on her sleeve with how open she is.

👍: She’s sooo soft omg. She’s so sweet you’ll have a sweet tooth just for her even if you don’t like sweets

👍: Blunt and cute, plus a goat. Cute goats are always an A+ character design. Where would we be without them tbh?

Episode 39! Was a fun one! Let's go

So we start off with a livestream that goes wrong... cuz something exploded. As is usual with most streamers tbh.

So now we've stopped at a nearby twon who's name I cannot remember so that's fun :) but it's a metal down that's pretty industrial so we're stopping by for supplies. Dot needs a new mic but... well the others have no idea what she's talking about

So!

If y'all don't watch this show, this is a pretty big deal. Dot doesn't normally come out of her room other than to grab the occasional snack from the kitchen or something. It's pretty rare to see her out and about but even more rare for her to leave the ship, because as she puts it, "A waste of my time." The last time she was actually off the ship was the curry competition, and before that was when Liko's memories got wiped by Spinel and was left wandering in one of the cities.

Anyways smash cut to the theme song which hell yeah.

Annnnnnnnd she immediately loses the two. So they've already got what she needed and were checking out the 'vintage' section of the market, where Liko and Roy were ogling at the T.V. and radio. And then in the mere minute it took Dot to buy an old mic from one of the stalls, they vanished.

And then she hears yelling from an alley way which uhhhh alright guess we follow that

Okay so it wasn't bad, just some guy yelling at a Tinkatink. It's trying to take his hammer to create it's own. Tinkatinks are small, and want to make hammers to their liking using any scrap metal they can find. So this guy, working at a factory, had something that caught it's eye.

Anyways she eventually lets go, and Dot gives back it's old hammer and that mic is so getting snagged by it isn't it

Called it. Dot decided to leave it be cuz, hey the thing is already pretty old (she was going to use it as a prop but eh, change of plans)

Quaxly was using water gun to create a circle of wet sand, so the Orthoworm can't escape from crawling over the sand. But Dot left one part of the circle dry. Where she was.

So the Orthworm runs straight to her, and Quaxly quickly hits it to knock the hammer out!

Which lets our baby get it and give the final blow! Gosh I wish I could gif these things it was so cool!!!

Hooo boy, you want propaganda? I'll do it. I'll do it for my boys: Lucas and Claus propaganda, big time. Thank you for sending me into a passionate typing frenzy.

(Mother 3 spoilers ahead. Of the massive kind. Obviously. And also, a wall of text.)

So I was reading the tags and yeah, yeah the other two suffered and one died. Okay, but that's also true for Lucas and Claus. I think you really need to hear the full plot to understand exactly what went down here and why they've suffered enough to deserve the win.

They were happy boys. They were. Claus was the more energetic and spunky of the two while Lucas was a little timid. Claus would often encourage him to play in the more reckless ways he did and you can see from the opening "name your character" sequence that Claus has a lot of love for his family, enthusiastically dragging their mom, Hinawa, along to join them, always with a big smile on his face.

Okay, so that's great and all. But where's the pain? Oh. I'm getting to that.

The town they lived in, Tazmilly was rural and idyllic, no need for an economy or struggles really. Everyone was friends and things like farmers or builders. Until the Pigmask army. Now long story short, these guys were led by the frustrated secondary antagonist of the previous game who could time travel and stumbled upon Lucas and Claus's timeline. The guy was into messed up genetic experiments and might have let some loose around the forest surrounding Tazmilly while they set it aflame.

But Lucas and Claus were not there. No, they were across the forest with their mom while their dad, Flint, stayed behind. Having only received one last letter from Hinawa, Flint tries to reunite the family, but in the end, Hinawa dies to one of the monstrosities let loose (a corruption of a once nice creature the boys used to play with) and Claus, reckless as ever, vows to avenge Hinawa and fight the creature. But he loses and is presumed dead.

Afterward, as Lucas has to learn to grieve alongside his father (btw the scene where Flint learns of Hinawa's death? Oof.), it turns out that Claus wasn't actually dead, but gravely injured. Unfortunately, the people who found him was not the villagers of Tazmilly who could take him back home, but the Pigmask army. The baddies. And what did they do? Make him a cyborg. Remove most of his will. Create him as the ideal child soldier to their cause and after all that. After all that. After Lucas's journey to defeat the Pigmasks from ruining his home, who else is the final boss who has been in their way the whole time, but his OWN BROTHER.

Yes.

The final battle of Mother 3. Is against your own twin brother.

And here's the kicker. Here's the kicker, right?

Lucas can't stomach fighting him. No matter what. He can't. It is only when a final reminder of their mother hits Claus, is that when he remembers who he was. And in his incredible guilt over what he had done and burning desire to see his mom again after all that, he realizes. Lucas has since gained the ability to automatically reflect lightning. And Claus has lightning powers. So....

MAN

THIS IS THE WORST PART. He purposefully aims a bolt and Lucas to where it bounces back and hits HIM and he dies. He dies, to his own attack. On purpose. To see his mom again, to punish himself for what he had done, whatever it might have been, AUGH

(i am in pain)

So anyway, TL;DR this is one of the most tragic stories in gaming ever and that's why you should vote for Lucas and Claus. They need something good in their lives for once.

2. Do they like each other's friends? Do their friends like them?

first of all! adele is besties with morgan (as much as those two can be friendly, they are that with each other) but that's pretty much where the friendliness ends lmao both nat and ava exasperate adele so much; nat is overly nice (and adele sees her as a bit fake lol) and ava is just too controlling, like dude it's no big deal i can smoke inside it's fine 🙄

and i think both nat and ava find her a lot for similar reasons, he's too closed off for nat's liking (even tho farah can def bring her out of her shell) plus! she disregards the rules? that's illegal you can't do that! as for ava, i think she might see adele as competition for leader? (don't tell adele that, it will go to his head lol) bc adele made morgan like her so fast and hes just so chill about most things, ava might be afraid they like him more than her (obv not, but one can never be too anxious!)

6. Do they have pet names for each other? Do they like them?

farah: babe, baby, cupcake, pumpkin and the like lol (look, you *know* that farah has a bunch of pet names for adele, especially using the more outrageous ones in public to try to make her blush (he's very pale so if farah succeeds, adele is literally like a tomato) but unfortunately for farah, adele can control herself 😤)

adele: she uses my love the most often (or just love), but the rare times she says farah's name he pronounces it so carefully that it feels like a love confession in itself (especially if she says it while holding farah's hand and looking into her eyes??? hooo boy)

7. What's their most and least favorite thing about each other?

farah: most favourite is how serious adele can get if the occasion calls for it, despite being a very chill person usually. least favourite is how long it takes adele to get ready for bed (10+ steps skincare routine. hour long baths... look she has her routine okay?? his hair does not look like that just on its own!)

adele: most favourite is farah's energy! he could literally listen to her talk all day, and would entertain any of farah's ideas and if she wanted to go somewhere, adele would already be in her car like where do u want me to go

and least favourite... also farah's energy, but socially lmao but for real, adele is like a cat personified, if she didn't have to have social interaction, he would just be vibing by herself all the time. so now that farah is suddenly around her a lot, she is both fascinated and horrified by her energy (and in social situations he just ends up following her around lmaooo so farah just has a 5'11 shadow following her around like 😶

adele is always fidgeting with her rings, and ever since they got together, he just fidgets with farah's hands instead? and in turn he lets farah take her rings off and subtly massage her hands and then slowly put the rings back and 🥰🥰🥰 i dont remember what the question was lol sorry this is not it anyways <3

maybe communication? i know i've said that adele is pretty straightforward in her feelings but um... not all the time lol he tends to sulk around a bit instead of telling farah if something's up with her :'))

okay updating on my reading spoilers under the cut

after the stone sky, i read minor detail by adania shibli ! god this book was heavy and impactful. the first part, told from the pov of an israeli general (? not sure i think he was a general) was fucking rough to get through but i do think it's necessary to really grasp the gravity of the situation. i don't think the book is perfect, i do wish there was more in the second part of the story, but it being so short i loved it for what it was and what it set out to do. i do think everyone should read it.

after that i wanted something lighter, and i read descendant of the crane by joan he ! read it super quickly, i new going into it that there was a big twist at the end but not what, so i think part of what kept me going so fast was knowing i would get to some big reveal. like i did guess at a lot of the smaller plot twist but. that last one well !! definitely did not think a book ya especially would end that way it did surprise me and i did like it. the characters were fun however do i remember their names. nope not even a little bit. it was entertaining and i liked it and i will probs remember the ending but it wasn't life changing.

next and finally i read (literally just finished 10 minutes ago i mean) house of roots and ruin by erin a craig. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hooo boy okay so i have read the first one of the series and i did like it it was a fun time i don't remember basically anything from it tho. good thing its not necessary to remember to read this one because oohhhh my god. okay maybe my feelings will change once i settle down and it sits with me for a bit but ohh my god this was good. the first half of the book is definitely a slow burn but the second half is so worth it like fawwwk. this one wasn't as creepy or scary as the first maybe just cuz i'm less wigged out by plants than the main character is but. it was still so good !!!!! like there were definitely some cringe lines like its ya i get it and i feel like it's more on the romance heavy side, like a lot of it is focused on like marriage and courtship and such. and i liked verity and alex together they were sweet. the plot twists at the end were crazy and they were surprising if a little bit. like not silly but just like. a bit preposterous like it wasnt too much but shit just kept happening where its like okay okay hang on lets slow down a little. viktor and his violence and rage and powers and such i feel like weren't explored enough to warrant his actions at the end of the book, like i know he has reasons to act the way he does but we just didn't see it. actually well i saw the anger but not the more calculated and cunningness of him. the parts that want to take over chauntililie or however its spelled. BUT. LITERALLY THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE LAST CHAPTER. FUCKING GOT ME. FAWWKKK FUCKING FLOORED ME. i gasped out loud like shit fuck oh god. HIS LEGS??? brother. fawk. and then the epilogue like shiiiiiiiiit. okay. okay goddamn i see it. i see you. part of me is like oh my god i need more like fawk. and another part of me respects the hustle. like yeah you can just leave us like that i respect the storytelling aspects of it and welll yeah. fuck. like the ending is kind of perfect even if i want more like yeahhhhhhh. anyways i have to go happy reading.

so luke’s always been plagued with the gift of seeing ghosts - he hates it, it’s mostly annoying when they show up unannounced declaring that he has to help them — and worst of all, it’s exhausting having to get rid of the creepy ones in ways other than just guiding them spiritually (ie beating the crap out of them)

it took up too much of his time and he just wanted to focus on his music man

he figures out at one point tho that he can make a business out of it — make some money by advertising his skills (without his parents knowing cause well. they wouldn’t necessarily agree to it) and getting people to pay him to ‘exorcise’ ie beat the crap out of ghosts that refuse to move on and just insist on haunting the living

(alex and reggie know about this of course. esp when they suddenly have nicer practice rooms to chill in. alex isn’t thrilled he’s actually terrified, but reggie just wants to join in on all the client calls luke gets)

AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING: so one day luke gets a text from a potential client asking him to head over to the abandoned los feliz high school building (that particular building was shut down a couple years ago because of a tragedy and hasn’t really been dealt with yet)

BUT BASICALLY the text asks him to check out the building cause there’s this one notorious ghost that keeps scaring all the high school students in the buildings nearby and they just need it to be dealt with (he’s seen those high school kids running past it like their lives depended on it

luke’s happy to oblige, especially when he finds out how much the client is willing to pay, and heads over — only to get the surprise of a lifetime. he meets a ghost who 1. turns out to be the one who texted him (so he’s not getting paid and that’s not great news) and 2. is a cute girl who looks very much human and not like any of the other ghosts he’s met before

he’s taken aback, especially when she kicks his ass (and helps him kick the resident ghost’s ass)

it’s a whole cat and mouse thing for a while, she keeps following him whenever he’s alone and he keeps telling her to leave him alone (mostly cause she’s hella cute and he seriously can’t afford to catch feelings for a dead girl yknow). he tells her she needs to pay him or move on and she keeps insisting that she just wants to figure out who she is!! how she died!! who her family is!! so that she can move on!!!

so they strike up a deal: he helps her (her name’s julie, by the way) figure out who she is, the mystery revolving her death and why she can’t remember anything, and she, in turn, helps him on the job (she’s got a wicked left kick), slowly paying him back with her skills since she never paid him for that one job (the abandoned high school building, remember that?)

so she tags along wherever he goes (at first to his dismay), even joining in on band practice (the boys know of her existence and try to be as considerate as possible considering they can’t see her)

things start to change between the two the second luke hears julie sing, fingers slipping on metal strings when she follows the melody perfectly and holy shit he’s a goner (the boys are confused af they’ve never seen luke lose focus when it comes to band practice)

THEY SPEND THE NIGHT TALKING AND HE FINDS OUT SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW SHE COULD SONG- he tries to get her to play various instruments to see maybe she was into that and turns out she can play piano!! and oh?? SHE CAN ALSO WRITE SONGS??? match made in heaven soulmates luke’s fucked and fully in love with a ghost etc etc

so this is where we meet our antagonist: the music teacher at los feliz, the one luke’s seen loitering around the high school (alex goes to that school and whenever luke stopped by for lunch he’d see the somewhat creepy teacher)

and he gets a bad feeling from him every single time

TO MAKE THIS SHORT LMAO: turns out julie’s accident had soemthing to do with the teacher, caleb covington, and turns out she was a student at that school!! 10 years ago!!

ALSO: SHES BOT ACTUALLY DEAD? SHES IN A COMA????? what a plot twist. it’s why she looks so normal so human. it’s why she’s never felt like any other ghost.

anyway stuff happens luke figures out caleb is some weird powerful ghost demon who sucks the life out of students for their talents and that’s what happened to julie except he never managed to finish the job.

luke finds a way to bring her back to life and together they fight caleb and it’s A HAPPY ENDING OH JESUS

julie starts working at a pet store, she meets reggie first, and he takes her round the store introducing her to all the animals and staff members and when they reach the puppies section they find a guy their age on the floor on his back being attacked by several puppies (licking his face) and it’s the cutest thing julie’s seen in a while

that is until reggie shouts “luke! new person coming through” and the boy on the floor sits up and julie sees his face and decides actually. that’s the cutest thing she’s seen in a while

OK, so I love Komahinanami as an OT3. As friends, or romantically, or whatever. I just love them a lot.

What I reeeeally don't like about it, though, is (some of) the fans' portrayal of it. For some people, it's never Komahinanami as a three-way relationship, with them all caring for and loving each other equally.

It's either Komahina with Chiaki just "added on", or it's Hinanami with Nagito just "added on", or it's Komahina + Hinanami with no interaction between Nagito and Chiaki at all.

(Like... where's the Komanami love?)

And if they do interact, then it's almost always negative. Chiaki's made out to be the girl who Nagito hates more than anything else, the girl who gets in the way of Komahina. And Nagito's made out to be this jealous, possessive asshole who is disgusted by Chiaki and only cares about Hajime. Which is just 1) not true to the characters at all, and 2) really confusing to me, because I don't know where it comes from other than just projection.

People do realise that Nagito never showed one single hint of either hatred towards Chiaki or posessiveness towards Hajime, right? I don't know where this whole "Nagito hates Chiaki, is jealous of her, and wanted to kill her for the sake of Hajime" thing comes from. Maybe it's just some fans' projection, but... it's just not canon, and it's not part of Nagito's character at all.

And Hajime isn't the only person who Nagito is capable of caring about or developing a positive relationship with. Let him have friends and people he cares about other than Hajime, even if you only ship Komahina.

Bottom line: I love Nagito, Chiaki and Hajime, I love fan works where they interact, and I love it when they're actually in character, and not made totally OOC to satisfy fans' bad character interpretations and hatred of female characters.

Hooo boi. Hoooo boi. Oh anon, you just tackled one of my biggest pet peeves of this fandom right to its core. Also thanks for saying I’m cool. :3

Firstly, the denial of the Komanami side of KomaHinaNami, but honestly… that I could deal with. This is why I focus on a lot of the KomaNami side of things on my blog but I don’t mind so much the “Hajime has two hands” side of this ship because usually from what I’ve seen, people have Chiaki be Nagito’s best friend or wing lady with Hajime and he appreciates and adores her and confides in her about Hajime and shares Hajime with her and all three are happy. Like.. in a way, that’s still ultra pippity poppity cute!

But yeah, the KomaHina fans who like to portray Chiaki as just the girl who is in the way of their relationship, as if Nagito hates or is jealous of Chiaki… no, just no. It has never once been like that! Before he really got to know Hajime, Chiaki was the only person who accepted and tried to understand Nagito. She was kind to him and he seemed to appreciate her in turn, insisting that her being their class rep made her their biggest light of Hope. He even pleads with her not to take on Junko, that he knew they were no chance against them but believes in Chiaki anyways and is devastated to the point of breaking down and sobbing at her death. Of course, he twists things and beseeches Chiaki’s name, insisting that she can lift them up with her death… but only because he’s coping. In his own world in the Neo World Program, she is missing because the memory of her (and Hajime) hurt him so much that he had to block it out. His desire to see her along with the rest of the class brings her back to them as an AI that leads them all back to the right path.

As for the idea that Nagito is jealous of Chiaki… I think they get that from one scene in DR2 where Chiaki says she’s gonna go find Fuyuhiko in Chapter 2 to question him. She leaves and Hajime is irked about being left alone with Nagito, to which Nagito is like “Oh I’m sorry! You wanted her to stay?!” Honestly… people seem to ignore that before Chiaki left, Nagito expressed concern about her questioning Fuyuhiko and told her to not let him “get rough” with her. So… Nagito clearly cares. Out of everyone (including Hajime) in the main storyline, Nagito openly praises Chiaki and her talents the most. He will also politely oblige her and be quiet when she asks while he does not for anyone else. Also the thing is… Nagito is pretty protective of Chiaki. In Chapter 4, when Chiaki gets overwhelmed by Nagito being clingy, she runs away from him only for him to appear behind her five minutes later and urging her to remember that she could get hurt on her own and that she shouldn’t have run off.

More to the point, let’s pretend Chiaki and Nagito were like… rivals for Hajime’s affection like Chisa and Juzo were. That they directly mirror them (they don’t as much as we think). Even Juzo and Chisa loved and appreciated each other platonically. They were incredibly important to each other in this show while being in love with the same person. In the mangas furthermore, we have these scenes (So tell me, tell me to my face that Chiaki is the girl that Nagito somehow hates, that he never cared for her beyond a romantic rival. Just tell me. And yes yes I know the mangas are secondary canon, but when like two or three of them show all these moments of Chiaki and Nagito supporting each other, come the fuck on. I stand by that it enriches our current canon.):

Here are some brief thoughts on kdrama that started airing in 2020 that I've watched. I said brief, but those who have been following me would appreciate that this is indeed, brief.

The list is in alphabetical order.

1. 365: Repeat the Year (MBC)

Disclosure: I am a HUGE Lee Joon Hyuk stan. He is second only to Hyun Bin on my list. The fact that this drama is on the top of this list is a happy coincidence 🥰🥰

I was soooooooo excited when I knew Lee Joon Hyuk was to star in a new drama. MBC made the announcement of the drama late last year, and I was literally walking to the office when I saw the announcement on ig.

The premise of the drama was pretty straightforward. 10 people were given the chance to travel back in time exactly one year prior. Mysterious things kept happening to the people who took the trip, so our Detective Ji “Fluffy-Hair” Hyung Joo and webtoon writer Shin “Self-Hater” Ga Hyun joined hands to figure out what exactly happened.

Once they finally figured out what caused the mysterious cases, they faced a great dilemma on what to do, with our Fluffy Hair detective running as a fugitive.

The ending was really sad, and I really wished it ended differently, but the main character of the story was our Fluffy Hair detective, and him having to live on and reset the whole thing from the new past was a nice touch to the ending.

This drama was full of surprises, twist and turn, and it is certainly a drama I would consider rewatching in the future.

2. Do You Like Brahms? (SBS)

Many people criticised the second half of this drama. Apparently the year 2020 is the year when kdramaland keeps being a disappointment, and many people are quick to include this drama in the list of disappointing drama, despite having a good beginning.

I beg to differ though. To me this drama feels more of a healing drama, wherein the characters are forced to deal with their issues. And anyone who has had to go through any form of therapy knows how hard healing process is.

TL;DR: The main leads are both people who have been mentally abused by the people around them, except for Cha Young In, because she was the only reason I did not throw my remote control at my 50-inch TV.

Park Joon Young is your classic example of a ‘gifted kid’ struggle. He was seen as a young, talented pianist who had a bright future ahead of him. But people started to treat him more like a trophy than a human being, so he decided to take a sabbatical, much to the criticism of people in the music industry. Park Joon Young realised that his passion in playing the piano has faded away, no thanks to his abusive piano professor who belittled him again and again, and practically brainwashed him into being a people pleaser. You could see how Park Joon Young was not himself in the beginning of the drama once you finish the drama.

Chae Song Ah took interest in violin at a later age (much later than professional musicians) and decided to pursue her dream by enrolling into a music programme. Her classmates were all younger than her, and it didn’t help that they all learnt music since much younger. I love how Song Ah did not give up on her dream easily and gave it her all, before she finally decided to let go of her dream to become a musician. The metaphor of her love for violin and Joon Young hurting her again and again and she just endured it though.. I cried like a mess well I am a mess but that’s a separate issue

Special shout out to Cha Young In who was there for both of them.

3. Flower of Evil (tvN)

If thriller is your thing, consider this drama. If you are one of those people who like to see your characters being tortured (physically and mentally), this drama is a MUST WATCH. And if you enjoy watching Lee Joon Ki playing a character who is put at a great distress because he is trying to run from his past, go watch this drama.

More importantly, if you enjoy a drama where your ML is sexy, attends to house chores and takes care of his bright young daughter while his wife goes crazy for solving violent crimes, a devoted husband who is attentive and a tender person but also a freak in the sheets, you are wasting every single of your breath not watching this drama.

I mean look at this man teasing his wife about his stamina.

Flower of Evil did not feel draggy at all. Everything that happened within the first 6 episodes could have been an entire drama if this was written by someone else. Seriously, this drama kept me at the edge of my couch!

The dynamic of HS and JW screams POWER COUPLE but at the same time it broke my heart how they were pushed into corners too many times by the people around them I do hope they had some sexy times while they were in the corners though

The focus on their wedding rings throughout the drama symbolised their unbreakable bond. The wedding rings were literally the very last thing that kept them together when JW stumbled upon evidences that pointed against HS.

JW, whose compass was only trusting what she saw, and not what she heard, tried to break the stigma of women being at a disadvantage in the police force. Heck, she was better than her entire team when it came to solving cases, her being the only woman in the team. Who said women cannot make good cops?

The plot twist though.. And the climax.. To this day, I still listen to this soundtrack from the drama and cry just thinking of the climax.

4. Into the Ring (also known as Memorials) (KBS2)

I didn’t even plan on watching this drama. I was channel surfing and saw Park Sung Hoon looking all depressed in the first episode and ran into Koo Se Ra. Girl was UNHINGED and determined to fight for her way.

Her motivation was initially on getting a stable pay check from being a district representative (it was only 60 million won which is like USD55k so it’s not that much) but she eventually became the district representative who fought for the benefit of the people and did not care for the political warfare that took place.

Came along Seo Gong Myung, a government officer in the local government office who was demoted from planning unit of the accounting department or something to be a secretariat to the district assembly. Seo Gong Myung sticks to his principle no matter what, which surprise surprise, is HATED by everyone in the district government.

Turns out our main leads were friends when they were kids so Se Ra kept teasing him and dragging him into her scheme of fighting for the people, which Gong Myung agreed to, not so much because he was a community-loving person, but because he was afraid Se Ra would get into trouble since she was as straight as a ruler.

Long story short, our leads fell for each other, and their relationship was HILAIROUS to watch. I think I speak for everyone who watched the drama that we had no reason to believe Se Ra did not peg Gong Myung for fun 😝😝

5. Kairos (MBC)

This is another drama that I stumbled into. Only this time, I saw Nam Gyu Ri and I remember seeing her ig post on a new drama so I decided to give it a go. She wrecked my heart in 49 Days so I decided to check this out for funsies. Hooo boy was I in for a major surprise.

The first two episodes got me hooketh!! I still cannot believe how the drama managed to keep me on my edge especially during the last 5 minutes of every episode. The pacing is even faster than Flower of Evil, and since this drama went back and forth between past and future, it keeps me guessing whether their efforts would bear fruit.

Will Kim “Sexy Brain” Seo Jin  and Han “I-Know-No-Fear” Ae Ri succeed in fighting the evil, who at this point in time remains unknown? I know Chairman Yoo Seo Il is currently being hinted as the culprit behind everything but I know better that he is just a puppet who sold his soul to the real devil who most likely is in the higher ranks in politics. I mean he even hinted at his remorse for what happened with Taejung Town 19 years prior. My suspicion is he is trying to cover up whatever happened because otherwise his own family would be at risk, so his only option is to redeem himself by doing something about the Taejung Town. I could be wrong, but regardless of who turns out to be the real villain in the story, I can say I am so satisfied by how the story has progressed so far.

The time paradox still hurts my brain, but I am choosing that this drama does not assume that time is linear.

There is still not enough people watching this drama and I’m begging you all to go and catch up before it ends in two weeks time.

6. More than Friends (JTBC)

A little trivia: I reblog most of the posts from @kdramastuff even if I am not watching the show at the point of reblogging the posts. I had been following her posts on this drama for 3 weeks, and I finally decided to marathon all 6 episodes and joined the watching party.

More than Friends was another drama that many people called a disappointment but I had a different opinion on it. Yes, I used to be the nerd who had different opinions on many things in high school sue me

The drama is premised on Kyung Woo Yeon who is said to have a crush on her high school friend, Lee Soo for 10 years. Lee Soo is nowhere near to be the perfect boyfriend material. He is selfish, does not care about other people’s feelings, and was always a lone ranger.

BUUUUUUT, Lee Soo seemed to show signs of care and affection (even though it was not at all for a normal person’s standard) for Woo Yeon. Surprisingly, he seemed to only do it for Woo Yeon and gave attention to Woo Yeon alone, even though he could practically pick and choose anyone he liked from the swarm of girls who were chasing him.

One day, he told Woo Yeon that he had to leave to the US to study, which made our girl sad. She decided to confess at the airport, but he outright turned her down, saying he only wanted to be friends with her. Over the time, they kept running into each other by coincidence (note: her name Woo Yeon is a wordplay on coincidence in Korean). Later, it was revealed that he wanted her to always be by his side, but he has built a wall as tall as the Great Wall of China before the idea of love so he didn’t realise what his true feeling for Woo Yeon was all along.

Woo Yeon, who felt sick of the ten-year crush, decided to end the “curse” and kissed him by the beach, thinking of getting a closure on her crush.

Long story short, Lee Soo finally realised his feeling for her and decided to confess, but by that time, a young, handsome, rich CEO of a conglomerate has entered into the picture. Cue the game of cat and mouse between Lee Soo and Woo Yeon about resentment, regret and relationship.

This drama was promoted as a romcom, but it feels more like a slice-of-life drama with a mix of melo and romcom in there. Seriously, I cried buckets watching this drama, not something you’d expect from a romcom. The dialogues were well-written, with each episode revolving around a specific theme. This was such a good drama coming from a rookie writer.

This drama did not have that many viewers to begin with, and many of those few people dropped it along the way, including the one who was responsible in getting me hooked into this drama :p  By the end of it, there were so few people talking about this drama in the tag (shout out to @dohyunsoo @have-yet-to-decide @starfire-s @thbn-anything​ for keeping me company to the very end of this drama)

This drama broke my record of screenshots per episode and total screenshots for any show. Until now, I have yet to finish posting them. I should probably upload more screenshots later tonight.

This drama had some AMAZING shots in the first half, with beautiful sceneries mostly in Seoul. It’s like what they said, “a daily occurrence for you, a trip for me”.

7. Oh My Baby (tvN)

I did not even remember watching this drama!! It was only after scrolling through my gallery that I saw I had shared some posts on my ig story about the drama.

It was in the middle of a lockdown when this drama aired and many of my memories from back then feel so distant to me.

The plot was not THAT good, but this drama is something you may consider if you like torturing yourself about the struggle of wanting to have a baby.

8. Once Again (KBS2)

Arguably one of the weekend family drama KBS2 in a while that kept me waiting for new episodes in front of my TV. Some people are turned off by weekend family drama because they tend to have slow pacing which makes viewers feel like they are being dragged to one of those boring corporate events that you would rather miss and wish you could be literally anywhere else.

Because this drama had more pairing than the typical weekend family drama, the story did take some time before it was on full momentum. It did feel like the drama could have been better with even one less sibling to worry about, but it was a fun watch in the middle of lockdown.

Will I watch it again? I’d rather rewatch House of Bluebird (starring Lee Joon Hyuk and Lee Sang Yeob as friends to enemies to friends again) because that drama spoke to me in a way that was more relatable. No hate to Once Again though. I just prefer House of Bluebird better.

Note: Justice for Song Ga Hee and her lovely son, Kim Ji Hoon. He had to grow up so much because of what happened to his mother, that it broke Ga Hee’s heart. And mine of course

9. Secret Forest 2 (tvN)

I watched Secret Forest once it has finished and I fell in love with the drama! Imagine my excitement when they announced Secret Forest 2 with my three main characters reprising their roles. No hate to Yoon Se Ah, I love her, but her screen time in Secret Forest was not enough to make me excited about her return. But I was pleased with her role in Secret Forest 2 and I hope if there is a third season, her character gets the redemption arc that she yearns for.

Secret Forest 2 was not as intense as the brilliant original, but I understood that it had to do with the overall theme of the season, and the theme required the script to be as such. Some people may argue me on this, but I still think what they pulled off was brilliant.

Too bad there was a severe lack of Lee Joon Hyuk on my screen though.

10. Tale of the Nine-Tailed (tvN)

Well. This drama went far beyond my expectation. The OTP was to die for. No such thing as miscommunication trope. This drama did not waste time on unnecessary drama. The pacing was incredibly fast, even faster than Kairos. Although to be fair, Kairos had to play with two different timelines and required time to establish the setting.

I’m sad about what happened to Lee Rang, but he did what he did, and he would never be able to erase that much pain from his memory even if the deities decided to be lenient on him because of his roles in killing off Imoogi. A fresh start as a human seemed like a fair reset to his life, and I hope he lives well, surrounded by people who love him.

I was never a fan of Jo Bo Ah (no hate on her, I was just indifferent) but this drama opened my eyes to what an incredible actress she is. I wish her a successful career ahead.

Land of Falling Sun 8

There was no hiding Dog. Chipper had to keep circling up above as before, as it was the best way for them to blend in with the surrounding area with a proper vantage point on the situation. The wanderer scurried to a nearby building--the post office, he later discovered--and crouched below a shattered window. The approaching intruder would probably check the sheriff’s office first, since it was the site of the most carnage. Dog stood outside a different building down the street.

Then they waited. All three of them waited.

What the hell was that back there? How in the hell had he done that? He still wasn’t confident that he was actually, truly dead, and was now living through some bizarre dream-like transition to the afterlife. He’d sooner believe the bullet was a dud or something, but that didn’t explain the sensations he felt at that moment. The knife wasn’t inherently magical, he knew that. His magic was--well he didn’t really understand it, did he? Starting fires, summoning horses, calling dust devils or plagues of insects, those all made sense to him somehow. He always considered himself a summoner, someone who created things--no, that wasn’t right. He didn’t create Dog, Dog clearly came from somewhere else he didn’t know. Maybe the fire did too.

Silence outside. All three of them waited.

What happened outside wasn’t like that. It wasn’t calling anything forth to his aide, it was splitting a bullet in half. What kind of magic is that? How do you even begin to figure that out? Talk about what splitting a bullet in half symbolizes? What it represents metaphysically? Isn’t that insane? Maybe it is, but the wanderer realized that’s probably what he was gonna have to do.

He listened for footsteps, but the breeze outside was too loud. All three of them waited.

Splitting a bullet in half. Separating a missile into two distinct parts. Destroying it--no, that’s not right. Something split is not the same as something destroyed. The bullet still existed, only in two halves. So it was converted into something else, like matter changing states. But the bullet was still a bullet until it hit the deck behind him, when the halves were reduced to shrapnel. Their properties were no different than they were before making contact with the knife. So what was so damn magical about all of this?

He heard footsteps outside.

Dog stood motionless down the road. Chipper craned their head down to listen to what took place below. The wanderer peeked up from his window. The first thing they heard was a voice:

“Hooooooooowee! We done missed the party huh!” It was high, cheery, and jovial, trailing in a high country drawl. It was a skeleton wearing a tattered shirt and a straw hat. He carried a hobo stick and pouch over his shoulder, and wore a gun belt with two pistols, both serviceable looking enough. The wanderer was a little insulted looking at him--like he was looking at a parody of himself. Chipper was a little relieved, as his demeanor seemed pleasant and friendly rather than hostile. Dog wanted to gnaw on him.

He jangled around the fallen members of the centaur gang, examining their weapons and checking for valuables. He started talking to himself.

“What I say, Mr. Mercy? What oh what did I say? You got to stop gettin’ yourself into this. You gotta find a nice, comfortable hole, and let this all go. But NOOOO you just HAD to go adventurin’ didn’t ya? Ya had to go a-wanderin’ under the clear blue sky and see whatcha see. And whaddya have to show for it? A buncha dead fellas at the crossroads of nothin’ to see and nowhere at all! Oof! This one got cooked crispy huh! Wonder if that woulda happened to that last fella? Nah, those guys are pros. Ain’t gonna scorch themselves with their own lightning. Just gonna get blowed down in the street! Hee hee...remember that guy what tried to teach ya manipulations and such? Then got his head chewed off by a roamin’ cactus? What good that done him huh? Guess I got one up on all these fellas to begin with. Hold up...that ain’t a bullet hole right? Nah...but how them lil’ boys growin’ out then?”

“Shut. Up.”

While he was talking, the wanderer managed to sneak out from his cover with relative ease. As the skeleton--whose name he presumed to be Mr. Mercy--approached the deck where the wanderer lay moments ago, he snuck up behind the skeleton and drew his knife to the back of his neck. There was a soft clink as he drew it against the bone. The wanderer turned back and whistled his companions closer.

“They with you?” the wanderer asked, regarding the five dead. He figured he knew the answer already, but it didn’t hurt to keep him on his toes.

“N-now sir, we can jus’-”

“Answer. The question.”

“No! Nope! Never seen ‘em!”

“What are you doing here?”

“Lookin’ around! These ghost towns got good scrap usually!”

Chipper descended upon the sheriff’s office and perched on a handrail. The rattled Mr. Mercy was clearly even more stunned by the oncoming bird person.

“Hey kid,” the wanderer said to Chipper, “What do you think of this guy?”

They craned their body forward, and Mr. Mercy’s head turned ninety degrees to meet them. Chipper looked young, soft, and simultaneously youthfully naïve yet knowing and intuitive. Mr. Mercy, despite his skullish featurelessness, seemed harmless. Capable of handling himself of course, but ultimately harmless.

“Seems alright. Seems kinda friendly actually,” they said with the utmost seriousness and posture.

“If I let you go,” the wanderer said, “You won’t do anything stupid?”

Mr. Mercy chuckled nervously. “Now sir, yer askin’ a lotta me.”

Chipper stifled a giggle. The wanderer sighed defeatedly. “Will you promise not to reach for your guns?”

“Yes! I don’t wanna hurt y’all,” the skeleton spouted.

The wanderer relaxed his grip on the knife, and withdrew it from Mr. Mercy’s neck. “Be warned,” he said, “This thing cut a bullet in half about an hour ago.”

“Nice bluff sir,” Dog said, approaching the deck. “Keep him around. Maybe he can explain your own magic to you.”

The wanderer shot his horse a death glare, then turned back to Mr. Mercy. “So. Who are you anyway?”

The skeleton shrugged. “Just a guy, I s’pose. Makin’ the best of bein’ stuck here, same as anybody. Cig?” he pulled a stained pack of cigarettes from his pocket and held it out.

“Stuck here?”

Mr. Mercy was taken aback by this, and withdrew his hand slightly. “Yer uhh...not from here?”

The wanderer and Chipper exchanged a look. “Why?” Chipper asked, “Where is here?”

“Hooo boy,” Mr. Mercy said, “That’s a big ‘un.” He extended the cigarettes to the two of them. The wanderer took one, and lit it in his fingers. Chipper declined. “Y’all do yer business here, then uhhh...I’ll tell ya whatcha got in store.” He started off the deck, and found the wanderer’s coat. “This anybody’s? Looks my size.”

The wanderer and Chipper looked at Mr. Mercy with stupid awe. Neither knew what to make of this man, other than that he seemed friendly and like he meant well. He was also extremely annoying, and judging by how Dog looked at him, either Dog would tear him to bits and gnaw at his marrow, or Mr. Mercy would put two quick rounds in its head and kill it.

The wanderer took a drag at his cigarette, and pointed to the jacket. “Yours now. Fits you better anyway.”

have y’all ever watched ‘unraveled’ by brian david gilbert on youtube? that was how i felt writing this. and i don’t even have a master’s degree in creative writing, i’m an engineering major with nothing else to do.

anyways, i present: ‘vessels’, unraveled 

the order. the Beginning. We’re set up with a futuristic, cinematic vibe right away. Buckle up idiots.

satellite. The introduction of our hero and their beloved, blessed with a connection that transcends distance, obstacles, etc. Also the introduction of the interdependence between the hero and their partner. The hero is dependent on the partner for guidance, but at the same time, the partner is referred to as the hero’s satellite, with the hero’s gravity (down-to-earthness?) keeping them tethered. The first mention of a darkness within the hero, but this darkness is clearly kept in check by his connection with his partner. This is a love song, the only balanced love song on the album, honestly.

frequency. The aforementioned connection in Satellite has been corrupted. There’s a disconnect between the two of them, and initially the hero believes he’s imagining it, but over the course of the song, he realizes it’s real, his partner has been severed their connection, and he feels raw, angry, scared, and most of all: betrayed. He’s never been alone before. He wasn’t meant to be alone. He doesn’t want to be alone.

DIE FOR YOU. This song is the death of me, personally. Fuck. Anyways, this is our hero coming to terms with his partner’s disappearance, in his own way. He acknowledges that they’re gone from his side now, but that he will not stop until they can be reunited again. In a ‘story’ scenario, I’d imagine this as the hero seeing that their partner has Turned, but the hero believes redemption is possible for them, or rather, that losing them is not an option. The hero will be there, waiting for their partner with open arms, no matter what happens between them, even if it means the death of them and what they stand for. Because death is preferable to separation.

Ricochet. A reflection of how the two of them ended up here, the first time we realize that maybe, their separation was fate. There were indications that the partner was bold, sometimes too bold for our hero to follow, but it never occurred that this would be their undoing. And that realization hurts, hurts him to his core. His beloved is beyond his reach, the gap between them self-imposed, but indomitable. We get the sense that this is a blow he will not be able to recover from. STORY MOMENT: the hero realizes that redemption is not possible for their partner, and it is completely, and utterly devastating. The person that was once there is gone, closed off, replaced by something that feels nothing for him.

starlight. Some insight into the bond between our hero and his partner. I’m choosing to interpret this song as from the point of view of them both: a plead from the hero, and maybe a moment of lucidity from the partner wishing he would just let them go, that they can be reunited, but they have to be separated now. The chorus and bridge are imbued with this sense of longing and dogged determination we saw in DIE FOR YOU, but the first verse is so reminiscent of someone consoling another as they slip away (‘the void is calling’/’it’s okay, I promise’). You know those moments in like every fanfiction where someone is possessed and then they break the possession for just a moment to say ‘I love you’ or something? This is that but a song.

into the unknown. HOOO BOY: this is the beginning of the end for our boy. This song is notably more aggressive that any of the above. This is our hero taking matters into his own hands, embracing his loneliness, his anger, all of those negative emotions he’s initially been pushing aside, and things are starting to get dicey. He’s walking the edge of a razor. Whatever it takes, he remembers. Whatever it takes.

gravity of you. Remember that razor’s edge from earlier? We’re about to go over. The loss has turned into an obsession, their love gotten twisted and darkened into something that is fundamentally changing them. The connection we thought was lost in Satellite is back, and this time, it’s Worse. There is a lot of imagery of a craft being pulled into a black hole; a toss-up between being reunited with his partner but to lose himself, or to live a life without them and in effect, lose himself anyways.

back to the earth. the alternate title for this song is ‘consequences’ because holy shit. We’ve gone over the edge, all logic is out the fucking window, we are committed and honestly, this would be the moment of wondering if the wrong decision has been made, because it feels wrong, so painfully wrong, but the question of ‘is this death or rebirth?’ makes one wonder if maybe, there could be a positive ending to this, that this pain might be worth it in the end.

last to fall. More exploration of falling, of going rogue, being the right choice. While Gravity of You had us worried (rightfully so), it’s clear that our hero’s intentions are pure at heart: he won’t abandon his partner, he won’t ignore that their connection is still strong (even if it’s distorted or corrupted), that he’ll put himself through hell for the chance that they’ll be by his side again.

bringing it down. In a story, this would be the moment our hero and their other half are reunited, but God at what cost. It’s finally sinking in that their partner is not the same, they’re something worse. And the worst part? He still cannot bear the thought of leaving them, even though the relationship that was once mutual is starting to become parasitic. The world is falling apart around them. We are nearing a life or death situation, saving yourself, or becoming unrecognizable alongside someone who was once the world to you.

unbecoming. Consequences 2.0. The decision above has been made unknowingly: the hero is being undone by all that he’s put at risk, and when he hopes, desperately, that his partner will be there when he needs them the most, they shun him. They laugh, ask how he could have been so trusting, so stupid? And now, our hero has no choices left. His partner’s knowing betrayal is the final nail in the coffin.

monster. Manipulation is the name of the game. Now that the trust, the love, is gone, all that’s left is a slew of negative emotions that are perfect for becoming an unrecognizable husk of who you once were. I talked about this song earlier, but the first verse being a railing against the partner for abandoning them as a catalyst for their corruption versus the second verse being a series of ‘I’ statements in which our hero realizes that this darkness was always within him, but never acknowledged? I’m just a slut for heroes becoming villains. The opposite of a redemption arc. The hero and his partner are truly together again, in horrible, distrustful love.

telepathic. Dustin fucking knocked it out of the park with this track and I wish we talked about it more. There are several moments of realizing that this love was cursed, but in this moment of clarity, our ‘hero’ realizes how his dependence truly was his undoing. Even before their Fall, his partner was always two steps ahead of him. There’s also a fun role reversal here: moons are referred to as natural satellites. In Satellite, our hero refers to his partner as his satellite, but now, he refers to them as the Sun, and to himself as a moon. There’s been a swap in power, I would even argue a subjugation, after this unraveling. I don’t know what conclusion to draw from that I just think it’s crazy.

everglow. This is still a song of admiration, even monsters have their moments of reprieve. Our hero is still so, so in love. It leads one to wonder if the love is reciprocated, because this song makes it feel one-sided, like we’re still the territory of ‘obsession’. Even after all that has happened, he’s willing to give everything he has to them, even if ‘everything’ is actually nothing at all. I also think it is fucking wild how this song goes from this really heavy vibe, to a final orchestral piece that makes one imagine end credits rolling. Wow.
